I’m just hoping people won’t ruin Buddie for me by slapping on BuckTommy. Cause we still have so many great Buddie moments besides other beautiful storylines. Yes i’m a buddie shipper and a great fan of BuckTommy and i’m just enjoying both. The Buddie and the BuckTommy moments, but making all the BuckTommy moments be about Buddie is starting to annoy me.

just finished round 6 of alien stage and man i have so many thoughts (not just of round 6 but of alien stage in general) but theyre kinda disjointed and may be a bit nonsensical to anyone who isnt me lol but i figured i may as well put them here

huge "idk if the flower symbolism is the same in korea" disclaimer but i do still think it fits regardless

mizi and sua adoration crossing over into idolatry/pedestal worship, love in remembrance, hope blooming from despair

mizi worships sua the way a human does a god but sua worships mizi the way a god does a human, but what does being a god in a godless universe even mean, what does being human in a universe that sees you as nothing more than a pet even mean

the first four lines of round 1 i believe is significant throughout the whole story "Oh my Clematis / hope bloomed from the abyss / Oh my Clematis / always be by my side" sua sings the former two lines and mizi sings the latter two, sua is despair (prominent black in design, often depicted with shineless eyes in art esp when not around mizi, godhood, arbiter of change, she haunts mizi's narrative, the abyss, even so there is the shine of starlight in the void), mizi is hope (very "floral" color pallet, often depicted with the shiniest sparkliest eyes in art esp when light shines on her glasses, the clematis, "bloomed" after sua is killed and loses what is covering her eyes)

i think the fact that we never really get to see from sua's perspective is part of her "mythology", that we never see much aside from her love for mizi, that we wouldnt truly know if shes anything more than a devotee if the supplemental material wasnt a thing

ivan and till reaching out for something impossible, for something that gives them hope in an otherwise stifling circumstance, for something that showed kindness in a cruel world, for something to fight for, for something that keeps them going, idealism, the want to be broken apart by the person that they think can mend them

ivan's pupils are as red as the meteors which may burn bright and are magnificent but are ultimately destined to fall, people often wish

saying that the gods are looking down upon someone is often a way of conveying their misfortune

till & mizi and ivan & sua are often depicted with parallels to each other

till and mizi both have green eyes, have an asociation with flowers (symbolism, the red flowers in the garden), both far more emotional than their counterparts, both dressed in black (like theyre going to a funeral) on the round they sing (not even compete) with their counterpart, on the round their counterpart dies, directly attacked a contestant, get severely depressed after losing their loved ones, have a hallucination of their loved one after someone triggers them, directly attacked the person that triggered them

ivan and sua were both given abundance not in the caring sense but in the showpony sense, have an association with stars, and were wearing white on the round they died (like they were going to a wedding), and (assuming ivan assessed what sua was doing correctly) both sacrificed themselves for their loved ones (sua wanted to be remembered [i wonder if she at the very least felt happy that her lover will always remember her, regardess of how it came about, if she felt happy that it was her that died and not mizi, i wonder if she truly had hope that they could both get out of the round alive or if she just went along with it for mizi's sake], ivan wanted to be seen [i wonder if he at the very least felt happy that his loved one finally saw him just him for once, i wonder if he kissed till not just for tills sake but for his own too, i wonder how he felt that he never really got to leave a mark on till despite seemingly wanting to since that "choke" absolutely did not leave anything])

i dont really have much to say about hyuna and luka for now aside from theyre a perfect representation of the two sides of the culture clashes going on and i love them both for vastly different reasons (hyuna is awesome and very cool while luka. is not.)

I'm going to preface this story by saying: I don't necessarily believe in karma, but

I may have been walking through today with a vague sense of disbelief tainted with unkind smugness after my tiktok fyp was flooded with poor fans who tried to get presale ticket to one mr n. kahan's new tour only to find that demand was through the roof and GA pit tickets were seriously going for $300, in presale, and even the "worst" tickets in the lawn were going for $70

and while I undoubtedly think it's deeply unethical for both platforms (thanks ticketmaster) and artists to allow such dramatic ticket cost inflation, I also generally don't relate...

I (VERY LUCKILY) gravitate towards smaller acts, and the most I've paid for a ticket all year has been, like... $90 for a ticket to beyonce, which got cancelled and I was refunded lol. if I look back at all my receipts from shows this year, most have been around $50/ticket after fees, and several have been closer to $20. my favorite show I've seen all year was a $15 ticket.

it's mostly luck—I tend to like smaller acts, and I've been seeing mainly rock acts this year, and those tickets simply don't run as high as pop acts. and part of me is honestly very grateful that I haven't been swept into any of the really recent huge acts.

I think of all the people scrabbling for boygenius or taylor swift tickets and how much money they've had to shell out... how a lot of them don't even GET to see the acts they want to see because they've been priced out or tickets sold out. I can't remember the last time a show I wanted to go to sold out lol. maybe bastille in london?

and again, it's just a matter of luck that I'm not really into any of these megastars and therefore don't have to compete in the gladiator arena to try to see shows I want to see, but sometimes luck manifests as a feeling of self-satisfaction, you know? who among us hasn't experienced a little self-superiority from time to time.

look, if YOUR tiktok was flooded with people saying concerts have been awful since 2021 (including rock and metal shows), but every concert YOU'VE been to since 2021 was amazing and the crowds were really good and you always got tickets and it never broke the bank, you'd feel pretty validated in your choice of musicians and the crowds they attract too, alright?? sue me! I felt frugal AND undeservedly clever!

anyways back to karma. guess who got invited and subsequently agreed to shell out $70 to sit in a lawn and listen to mr. n. kahan sing. I'll give you a hint, her tumblr username starts with an r and ends with an s

A SINGLE ONE OF HIS SONGS.#the thing about me is I'm earnestly really good at not judging other ppls music taste because:#I have a whole 1000-song playlist dedicated to music I love but don't play for other ppl bc I regard it as my Fun Time No Taste Music #and it's not that it's bad it's just not as curated as I prefer my music showed to other people lol #and that means I don't judge people for getting really into a band that doesn't do it for me personally #but. I will admit that I have that deeply annoying personality trait wherein if a billion people get into something...#for unknown reasons my own desire to learn about and get into that thing plummets. hashtag hipster. hashtag annoying #so that's kinda why I've never explored a lot of mega-popular musicians #(see: hozier; mitski; boygenius; taylor swift; one direction; noah kahan; etc etc)#+ obviously I don't make quality judgements off of that. I've heard some hozier songs. he's very good. I like handfuls of TS and 1D's music #but I don't have the drive to Also Get Into It #which means I never have to fucking melee for tickets in the queue ahaha and I am very grateful for that #but idk. I think there's something to be said for purposefully seeking out midsize or small acts. I don't really like stadium shows!#my fave concert this year had less than 100 attendees and the lead singer walked right off the stage into the crowd #everyone was chill and gave him space (this was the friday pilots club show)#and I think I can compare it to big vs. small fandom #small fandoms tend to be well-behaved bc everyone knows everyone and beef poisons the whole space lol #and also it's a matter of numbers! the more people who are in a space... the higher likelihood someone's an asshole #and I've been in tiny fandoms that blew up (hellooooo omgcp) and saw that happen firsthand #and I sort of suspect that rule holds true for concert spaces/music fanbases! more people = more variables = higher likelihood of foolery #hell I think of when I was really into 2010s alt rock DURING the 2010s and had to deal with assholes at alt j concerts hahahah #and it was just because I *was* into the music that WAS of-the-time in 2015!!!!#and now as an agèd 20something who likes metal shows I'm just chilling and watching pits form at lowkey 1400-capacity venues #because that's the scene! and I'm not in the thick of it with the current Music Of The Hour #anyways all this is to say that I don't think noah kahan is bad or untalented or unworthy of seeing!!!!#clearly he is if I'm going to fork over $70plusfees to see him with my friend #it's just that I'm grateful my tastes have veered into the cheaper side of the music industry.#I think I'd keel over if my favorite artist was TS and I had to deal with. all that. to go see her.#stronger than the marines etc etc

What's incredible about the two versions of Sweeney Todd (stage and film) is how they're perfect for their respective art forms, but each version would not work for the other art form. You cannot just film the stage show and release it in theaters (and Burton and Sondheim knew that very well) and you can't do a lot of things in the film on stage. It's really an interesting case study of the important differences between theater and film, and why both versions are absolutely worth seeing.

#sweeney todd #there are some things I like more in the film specifically #like Toby #I will always prefer movie!Toby for example #but seeing the stage show live twice had me sitting there like damn...literally all of this works.#this is a perfect show #and yes it'll always be funny to me that Broadway purists have been butthurt over the movie since it came out #meanwhile Sondheim was like 'it was great precisely because it wasn't like the stage show' lmao #queue

#the master's only got it up for trade or purchase which whatever but LUCKILY for ME they uploaded CLIPS OF SOME OF THE SONGS.#did you know originally elle didnt tell emmett what happened at the end of legally blonde????? thats CRAZY.#theres a little bit before the remix they showed in the video (for ME!) where he confronted her and told her hed expect her at the trial #i overall prefer the broadway vers (a little less accusatory) but i can appreciate aspects of the tryout vers.#in legally blonde he doesnt do his little love confession! dont enjoy the miscommunication though or his 'dont you care??' line #what i DO think interesting is how in the tryout vers legally blonde shes like 'i cant be legally blonde..' while bw is 'just let me be' et #different framing! thats intriguing! i really enjoy that framing actually!#and you know what i DO LIKE??? elles goes 'goodbye' and heads behind her door and theres this swell of dramatic orchestral music #and the door turns and. ah! its very very good. if youve got a stage that can rotate then use it to its full advantage!#i think that bits cool and emmett talking to elle before the remix may have paved the pacing a little smoother but nevertheless.#i still prefer open communication and him. yknow. not inadvertently blaming her for her own reaction sort of.

Okay so last Friday after the Arttu Lindeman gig he came to the merch table to chat with people. And I ended up telling him that before the BC ice hall show I hadn't listened to his music, but now he is definitely going to be my most listened to artist for this year 😄 (which is not an exaggeration, it's already so clear that this year I've listened to him way more than any other artist 😅)

He said that earlier last year he had been talking about wanting to do a really big show, but then when the BC ice hall came up he'd been like oh no I should have been more careful what I wished for because surely the audience is just going to laugh me right off the stage 🙈 So he was very happy that he hadn't been booed at, and that he'd even gotten some new fans 😄

Based on my few minute encounter with him, I'm declaring that Arttu Lindeman is such a kind and chill and sweet person, and also gives good hugs 😊

#like objectively is he the greatest singer ever? no. but he's good and the songs are catchy 🤷‍♀️#and he seems like a nice person and is a lot of fun on stage #also highly approved that several songs on the newest album have more depth #(also bonus points for smelling very nice 😄 i kinda wanted to ask what the scent is but that probably would have been a bit too weird 😂)#anyway. definitely would recommend especially the newest album and going to his gigs!#tbh i'm already considering going to one of his upcoming shows 😅 preferably not alone though so if anyone's interested PLEASE do hmu 😄🙈

#so much unexpected stuff lmfao i knew about very few songs they were gonna play and in terms of stage production i was only aware o the dice #and some confetti i guess but yea most of it was just a really neat surprise #spoilers for 5sos show setlist incoming but #i cant believe they didnt play no shame. i wont ever forgive them for that #easier is still fucking Here but not no shame???#overall i was pleasantly surprised by the setlist but i think with perspective a couple choices have me personally bummed out #from my own preferences #like. no shame and complete mess were MissedTM #and with that perspective. i coulda done without outerspace I KNOW unpopular opinion #it was a surprise BUT honestly for me. it was not a good one LOL #id fully expected to have put that song behind them after the rah tfofu concert #but i guess it was less an honorable goodbye as much as a re introduction of it idk #i was really happy to see a bunch of songs coming back tho! gives me hope for any eventual future concerts that no shame will be back #YES i have a one track mind LISTEN. it is my Favorite and it deserves Better #ok i have rambled enough. these are my hot takes i have a couple more but i do wanna reiterate im overall really fcking happy abt it all lol #just bitter that they would play fuckcing Dont Stop but not NO SHAME IN 2023!!!!! Figured out the pointless little mystery of why there’s two version of the alice in wonderland ballet playing cards dance on youtube

#one version where the dancers end running off the stage and another where they pose before leaving #also why yuhui isn't in the second version and has short hair in her ~2017 rehearsal videos #apparently there's the 2011 world priemer version and a 2017 version #i think the playing cards dance video and rehearsal video are from the 2011 version #which feature yuhui as one of the semi(?) soloists as the 4 of diamonds #but in 2014 yuhui also performed the main role of alice in the same ballet (which there Isn't a video of)#so i'm guessing for the 2017 version of the full production you can find on youtube they updated the choreo #for the card dance to end in the pose #and yuhui was probably replacement alice or alice in certain showings #which would explain a. why she isn't the four of diamonds again and b. why her rehearsal videos from around that time #she has short alice-length hair #btw i prefer the 2011 version bc the ending does in deed make it feel like the cards are Shuffed (also yuhui I like her)#fun ballet though love the music too and tap dancing mad hatter #none of this actually matters but mystery solved :) probably #personal //

YES!!!

This is from the stage adaptation of Disney's Hunchback, AKA my favorite Disney movie. The Frollo in the show is closer to the novel characterization than the movie is, and they keep Jehan!

And thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to tell this story: My husband and I went to a community theater production of Hunchback, and the actor who played Frollo played it with HUGE Chuck McGill energy, to the point that I was like "is this a conscious choice." He even looked a little like Michael McKean. VERY fun for me and I gave him a standing ovation.

#i prefer the movie to the stage show #which keeps a lot of the disney stuff but gives it the book ending #which does not really work!#like quasimodo's arc is still finding his own self-worth and getting the courage to stand up to frollo #and esmerelda still has her social justice characterization #but it turns out none of that character development mattered and quasi dies of starvation clutching her corpse #so uh does not really fit with the other stuff!#it's already an adaptation - giving it the book ending doesn't make it more real unless you're going to take out the disney stuff too #which you shouldn't bc it's a disney show #anyway #chuck mcgill #the brothers mcgill #better call saul #asks

I'm glad my typos are a source of inspiration for you anon! It would be funny if Eiffel had the same frequency of near-death experiences as he does in canon whilst working in a theoretically less-hazardous environment like the theatre.
