i didnt include tracks 1-6 bc ive posted about them already, but ill add them slowly by eod tomorrow most likely

overall: idk about this album. i went in really excited and so maybe thats why i feel so let down... but i feel so let down. this isnt what was marketed, this isnt anything even real for a lot of it. she's all over the place and i dont think its a tight and solid album -- although monetarily it will obviously look like one. there are moments where we get something very her and very real and i think those moments save the album. the production is also a little all over the place, and so very nothing. im not asking her to do anything fresh or new but why would you market it as if it was and not deliver?

i liked florida!!!, loml, and i can do it with a broken heart -- i think clara bow, the alchemy, and some others (you can tell with my notes LOL) will grow on me. and the tortured poets department and my boy only breaks his favorite toys were good songs, but i think i need a few days to actually acknowledge them as such.

also i think lyrically shes done a few very interesting things. it almost feels like debut with how specific it is and the name dropping and everything -- however it is new/rusty for her so that also kind of hurts her overall. i think maybe this is like good practice for a more evolved narrative lyricism in the future, bc her past mo of hazy visuals and thinly connected moments to string into a narrative just doesnt work anymore.

i will say. she did make me experience all 5 stages of grief plus some fun extras. maybe not in the way she wanted, but i did anyway ! its a fun album and i def think ill like it more as time goes on, but this is my opinion without outside influence and within the first day of listening -- i want to see how that changes! im also holding off on album rankings until a week or two passes

i actually don't have an opinion on either, so i'm curious: what do you hate about youtooz? (the price is way too much though i agree)

ok. so. first things first the REASON i compare these two series, and i believe it IS a fair comparison, is that they both serve the same role in their respective merchandising niches: a brand with a certain style that most figures conform to that is famous (or rather, notorious) for covering ridiculous amounts of media and their style being... well, depends who you ask. its just that funko pop covers mainstream media most of the time, basically anything that a big company can fund, whereas youtooz is for internet icons and independent creators

and the BIGGEST point is the price point.

so just using pops official website and my own personal knowledge as a jumping off platform, i know that the whole reason pops are so simplistic and accessible is because they’re meant to be easily accessible collectibles for the mainstream audience! theyre supposed to be neat little collectibles that are easy to get and easy to produce (which is how they maintain the price)

the price here says these star trek funko pops are 11 bucks, and just from personal experience ive seen pops go for anywhere from 9 bucks to 15 bucks, with some really common pops even making their way to the dollar store! so if youre a fan of star trek who doesnt have CRAZY disposable income and you just wanna nab a spock, hey. there you go.

now, vaulted pops and chase variants (basically pops that arent currently being restocked in stores, and rarer simple variants to already made models ie. gold mario) rack up a lot of money on auction sites, but this happens with literally every figure and limited item so its really not like, a pop problem. imo their goal of being simple, accessible collectibles for anyone to collect and enjoy WORKS.

now here ive got some figures from youtooz and- HUH. LOOK AT THAT. 30 US DOLLARS. (again, even more for me in canada!) now, i know that its not TOTALLY ridiculous bc even though theyre around the same height, funko pops have more hollow plastic and theres probably more complex designs but the REASON i do not think that these are worth as much as they are is because

2. THEY ARE UGLY.

ive done a little sketch here trying to analyze the sort of design philosphies of the ‘pop style’ and the ‘youtooz style’ and i think both have their ups and downs.

i will give youtooz the point for the dynamic poses theyre usually in, as that usually makes the figure a lot more interesting, which you REALLY need if your figure has absolutely no articulation

look at the youtooz charlie brown doing a baseball- hes in the middle of an action pose, and it has a GREAT silhouette. 10/10 posing. some of the youtooz posing really fucking sucks but overall its got better pose quality

but a lot of pops are Just Standing There.

BUT overall i think funko pop has the stronger style. funko pop’s style has a REASON to be the way it is. why? because many of the first pop lines were just one in dozens and hundreds of already existing toy lines! so it needs a distinct style to not only give credence to a ‘collection’ mentality, but also distinguishing them from other lines of the same brand

like, there are so many different c-3pos out there, so i KNOW im getting a funko pop c-3po bc like. look at him.

so then, i ask you, WHY does youtooz need a ‘unifying style’? why do internet creators need to conform to this style? because both the reasons i listed above just, do not apply here! one, these are often the ONLY figures made for these creators, and two, there is NOBODY who is collecting youtooz. the point of youtooz is that there are LIMITED DROPS, targeted SPECIFICALLY at fans of THAT creator. which is why they announce it on their channel! so theres no NEED to use this ugly UGLY style! and yet they do!!!

another thing the youtooz style sucks ass with is, like, the default expression. for funko pops, the default expression is usually a neutral, which SOME say is creepy or offputting but IMO. its like, a blank slate. a resting natural that could be anything and that works as these figures dont exist IN motion. look at hello kitty! she doesnt have a mouth and its used to her advantage

but the closed eyes just fucking- its CONFUSING. especially in an expression thats not all smiley. its a confusing expression and usually a closed-eyes emotion isnt something that... stays on the face for that long? ik its a stylization choice but i dont LIKE it. theres no point of eye contact here. the posture suggests theyre looking SOMEwhere, like this rando throwing a thumbs up to the ‘viewer’ but his eyes are closed

AND THREE i just think funko pop does... ‘compromise’ better. so compromise is like, when something just WILL NOT FIT in your style. even if the reason for having that style is STUPID. funko pop has a better track record with bringing that style into synthesis with their own. yeah yeah you can strawman that fucking dory pop all you want but listen. there are GOOD EXAMPLES of this.

look at this peashooter! hes adorable!! and the funko nose and lack of mouth get broken here. but LOOK HES SO CUTE

this pvz zombie breaks EVERY rule of the design. a non-standard nose, a body not smaller than the head, eyes that arent all black, MOUTH. but like. look at him! you know its a funko pop anyways bc its a small cute version of the zombie!!

now lets see how YOUTOOZ compromises.

oh- oh wow. so uh, you saw a character whose big eyes are CRUCIAL to their design and instead of going ‘i know ill make the closed eyes bigger’ you go HMM LETS MAKE THE CLOSED EYES THE PUPILS’. wow. thats- okay.

tldr youtooz sucks and if it should exist it shouldnt force every figure to be the same stupid style. also who wants to pay for memes.

Hey I noticed you’re into reading (from your blog posts and you mentioning that you have a book blog) so I was wondering if you have any random recommendations? I’m currently trying to avoid high fantasy (dnd type and the like) cause I read it nonstop for two years…

I DO !!! disclaimer disclaimer ik my taste in books isnt for everyone but u knocked on my door im simply answering<3 ill put this under a readmore because i just know this will get long (spoiler alert. it did) but before i do know i love u for giving me an opportunity to talk about this

also, i know right !! i love the new thumbnail so much <3

these are in alphabetical order for convenience:)

STANDALONES:

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkens Reid - THIS BOOK!! I read it in a single sitting so needless to say it completely enthralled me. the format of the writing makes it SUPER easy to read too; its formatted like an interview so there arent really any paragraphs. The story, while an interview yes, follows this girl (the one Ms Daisy Jones) through her life and career as a lead singer for a fleetwood mac-esque band set in the 70s. When I picked this book up I thought man this does not seem like the kind of book Id be into but Ive heard a lot of good things so Ill give it a try (<- bad mindset ik). Nd I am SO GLAD I did because it's like my favorite book.. EVER now! What I said is the bare bones of what it is, because I am afraid if I get into more detail I will simply not stop. Category is for the book I think is coming of age + new adult!

Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins - This book, is technically part of a duology. But it's a disconnected duology, meaning you dont have to read it in order to understand it. Plus I didn't really like the first one too much. PLUS plus this is a wlw story. Main character Millie is having a rough fuckin go of things ok. She has an on and off again gf and while on this gf cheats on her. This sucks but also it's not too important to the plot lol. Shes applied to a university in Scotland and she gets in! This is SO GOOD Plus it gets her away from The Ex. Getting there though, she finds out shes rooming with a literal princess of Scotland (thats. literally what the GR description says. I dont think theyre actually called princesses right?). Except Millie absolutely despises her + frankly she acts very stuck up and all the usual Im A Princess Kiss My Ass shit. But it definitely starts to turn into more due to forced proximity. I will say no more... just know the story is VERRRYYY enemies to lovers in a not-annoying booktok way and I adore it. Its a bi/lesbian wlw story that I think was portrayed really nicely (cue the mean bisexual and even meaner lesbian meme) and the category is contemporary young adult :)

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel - OHHH SECOND FAVORITE BOOK ALERT. This may be a harder book to take in because it HEAVILY reflects the pandemic we're currently in, but the book takes place in the brief beginning of a pandemic, and most of the aftermath of it. Fictional variant of the swine flu, 99% mortality rate. I will admit if you do not have Shakespearian knowledge and/or knowledge on musical instruments, this might be a tough read but it is SO worth it. The book opens with the death of a renowned Shakespeare (and in general) actor, which is pretty bleak but stay with me. After he dies, the mc (at the time, Jeevan) is feeding us the plot set up, taking in all the new information about this flu thats about to rock their shit. After we get through that though, the book follows 3 people who had a connection to the actor from the beginning - the actor's first wife (Miranda), his oldest friend (Clark), and a young actress with the Traveling Symphony (Kirsten). The Symphony move from town to town 20 years post this pandemic that has left the world quite frankly apocalyptic. No zombies, just.. there are no stores theres no technology the only way to move is to walk or to find some wagons or old cars etc. Anyways they move from town to town performing Shakespeare plays for whoever is left. She, specifically, gets caught up in the crosshairs of this batshit insane 'prophet' who, believe it or not, is connected to the same actor from the beginning of the book. But I will say no more. Please read this. Or at the very least watch the hbo show, thats what im doing now. Category for the book is technically scifi, but the author wishes it was classed as theater fiction.

Survive the Night by Danielle Vega - I will admit, it has been like 6 years now since I have read this, so this will probably be a short description. But I remember absolutely loving this book when I first read it. A lot of people say this book (and the series, which I will also reluctantly mention) is quite cheesy. It might be, but I dont personally think so. oh my god professionalism drop the mc is named the same as my gf are you fuckin kidding lmfao. anyway Survive the Night (the event, not the book. also looking at it like this, now. Someone shouldve KNOWN lmao!!!) is an all-night underground rave in the New York City subway. Casey (god that feels weird) literally just got out of rehab and her friend was like :) I know what we can do for some fun. So they go to do this. And it Sucks! Its Deadly! Literally!. Something is down in these tunnels hunting them, and all the exits are blocked. In my memory, you never see the killer, you never find out if theyre human or not. So its very unseen-horror fear of the unknown. I remember it doesnt have a particularly happy ending though, I will say that. Category is young adult horror.

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn - This is a short story, technically not a book. But its worth the read! Very easy to do in an hour or two at 60ish pages! I will say, if you do read this, be prepared to briefly read about handjobs lmfao. I promise its plot relevant. The mc who I believe remains unnamed works at - I cant remember if the Shop is fraudulent or if only She is - a psychic shop. One morning, a woman comes in to make the mc's life hell, and of course the mc doesnt know this. So obviously she adds insult to injury by lying to this woman to give her life some drama. I cant say more without getting into the plot, but the story takes a Lot of turns. Category Id say is adult thriller.

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Sáenz - I remember when I was reading this, I specifically wondered to myself why this book wasn't talked about as much as The Other Books. You know the ones. I cant give much of a personal description of it because most of what I remember is the EMOTIONS. This book left an Emotional impact on my life and I think of it fondly. The GR description is short though - Sal used to know his place with his adoptive gay father, their loving Mexican American family, and his best friend, Samantha. But it’s senior year, and suddenly Sal is throwing punches, questioning everything, and realizing he no longer knows himself. If Sal’s not who he thought he was, who is he? - if I can remember right, I do think there is still lgbt rep in a side character. But please dont consider it just because I said that lmao Id hate myself. Read this if you need a cathartic cry and positive outlook on life. Categories are contemporary, coming of age young adult.

There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins - DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE. IT SUCKS AND IT DOES NOT PORTRAY THE BOOK RIGHT AT ALL. anyways :) this was the first book to actually make me feel genuine fear, idc if anyone thinks its cheesy or bad. Because it made me feel that I will always recommend it as a good horror. The mc, Makani, has relocated due to a Dark and Terrible Past (spoiler: its not that bad lmfao i think that part of the story got overhyped). But at her new school, classmates are getting brutally slaughtered. Important and Deliberate word choice. Seemingly no connection between them, and the murders get more grotesque as the story progresses. I cant say more without getting into plot shit, sorry. Wilder Girls by Rory Power - DO NOT trust anyone that says this is a sapphic book. There is one (1) kiss between two girls that is never expanded upon and never mentioned again. This is a horror novel. Its also the second book to make me Feel Something. This book made me So Uncomfortable and I think thats GOOD! The book is set on a remote island that houses an all girls school, except the girls at this school have some Fucked Up shit going on with them. Some are growing scales, some are growing new spines, its fucked up. This disease wasn't there from the start though. It's also infecting the wildlife around the school, which makes going outside the fence for any reason - let alone supplies (since theyre quarantined) - fucking awful. These girls know how to shoot. One day, the mc's best friend goes missing though, and oh boy do we learn some shit after that! Massive tw for Good descriptions of body horror. Category is young adult horror. Id probably also throw in a Liiiiittle bit of scifi personally.

SERIES: *I'll only talk about the first book, to save your time. Bolded titles are a Series series, Bolded and Italicised titles are a noncommittal series - you can read them out of order and itll still make sense.

A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson - PRAISE BE... my favorite series to exist so far! This book follows Pip as she chooses to solve her small town's case closed murder as a senior capstone project. She plans to do this via a podcast type thing, not sure if its a podcast from the beginning. She doesnt believe that the one everyone thinks murdered this girl, IS the one who actually did it, and shes setting out to free this family from that shame, while also kinda validating their own grief. When she starts digging in to this though, bad shit starts happening, that's all ill say. Tw for animal death. Drugs get involved. I am not sure what else to say except this is a REALLY immersive story that keeps you thinking and the last book rocked my absolute shit. Category is young adult thriller.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - I wont spend too much time talking about this one, because its popular (or at least it was) on tumblr. American girl goes to college (I think) in France, makes friends, falls in love with the school's heartthrob. You dont have to reach out, but if you want to you can + ill go a bit more in depth. MWAH. Very feel good fluffy romance. Same can be said for the whole series. Love it. Category is contemporary young adult.

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch - This is the book I shamefully remember the least about (my favorite is love and luck). Because of this, I am sorry to say but I am ripping the description from GR. Maybe we can buddy read it if you wanna 👀. Lina is spending the summer in Tuscany, but she isn’t in the mood for Italy’s famous sunshine and fairy-tale landscape. She’s only there because it was her mother’s dying wish that she get to know her father. But what kind of father isn’t around for sixteen years? All Lina wants to do is go back home. But then she is given a journal that her mom had kept when she lived in Italy. Suddenly Lina’s uncovering a magical world of secret romances, art, and hidden bakeries. A world that inspires her, along with the ever-so-charming Ren, to follow in her mother’s footsteps and unearth a secret that has been kept for far too long. It’s a secret that will change everything she knew about her mother, her father —and even herself. MAN even I dont remember the secret... buddy read fr??? Category is contemporary young adult.

Rosemarked by Livia Blackburne - I just recently read this duology, its low fantasy imo. The book starts off with the mc Zivah earning her rite as a high healer. She passes the test, and the same day a troop from the Empire comes in, infected with the rose plague. The rose plague is deadly, usually. With two outcomes: rosemarked and umbertouched. Coming out rosemarked is essentially a death sentence; you fight off the disease temporarily, but you can still infect people. The fever will come back to take your life. Umbertouched is the desired outcome; the marks stay but you cannot pass on or contract the disease again. The fever will not come back. Upon treating these soldiers, Zivah falls ill with the plague, and comes out rosemarked. Point A to point B she meets the li Dineas. Its a slowburn not enemies but not allies either to lovers. They invade the capitol, cannot remember why initially, but they end up Essentially starting a war. There is like no content for this book on here and its driving me up a wall. I so badly want someone to talk about this book with. Category is young adult fantasy.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo - Another.. semi popular one here on tumblr. So again I wont waste too much of your time with a description and just paste it from GR. Alina Starkov has never been good at anything. But when her regiment is attacked on the Fold and her best friend is brutally injured, Alina reveals a dormant power that saves his life—a power that could be the key to setting her war-ravaged country free. Wrenched from everything she knows, Alina is whisked away to the royal court to be trained as a member of the Grisha, the magical elite led by the mysterious Darkling. I wish I wish with all my heart the original trilogy was as popular as the six of crows duology. This is a series dear to me, and another low fantasy novel, category young adult fantasy.

The Merciless by Danielle Vega - Okay. I dont know you, but Im going to guess this might not be one you consider regardless of what I say LMAO. This is a book ive always described as textually gorey, uncomfortable but not Too uncomfortable. Has religious themes. This book is about an exorcism on an outcast of a girl and the consequences of it. I do not know how to begin to describe this without going off the deep end about it. This is a strange series to read, chronology wise. Theyre all connected yes, but the first two books should be read in the order they were released. The third book is a prequel so it can be read before the first two if you want, or after the fourth. The fourth is the most disconnected though, only callbacks via short memories. This is the worst selling point on a book ever Im so sorry. You like horror? You into religious themes? Exorcisms? Torture? Mean girls, literally? Possibly cheesy writing even though I dont personally think so? Perfect series for you :). Category young adult horror.

Lastly, To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han - If you were on tumblr when this series had its boom, you'll know what this is about. Lara Jean Song Covey is a serial romantic, wrote letters shed never send to all of her crushes and stuffed them in a hatbox to forget about them. Until the letters actually do get sent one day. This leads to fake dating, a lot of drama, eventual Real dating, AH its so feelgood im going to die just thinking about it, another reread for me in the future. Definitely. Category contemporary young adult.

sunday december 26th

its been a while since i last wrote here, and there are a few notable events. both my parents got very sick with covid, and my dad was actually close to dying. he developed pneumonia from the covid and all he would do was cough and cough, and cough some more. he told me through it all, he just wanted to sleep, because the cough kept him up for days. he went to the hospital and my mom was a nervous wreck, from covid beating her down and dad not being by her side. he was in the hospital for a week or so, and when he came back he was just so fucking skinny. skinny like when he was a kid. i almost burst into tears when he walked through the door, but since then, both my parents have gotten vaccinated. theres a new variant that has overtaken delta in the US called omicron. theyve brought back mask mandates for indoor establishments and theyre urging everyone to get vaccinated and boosted. people still don't believe its a big deal, but if i write about it anymore, im just going to get upset.

I met a guy on tinder named gabriel, and we dated a couple times. then I saw him at a halloween party that a mutual friend was having and he was sick from too high a dosage from an edible. he kissed me on our previous date and that got me very excited to see him again on halloween, but he was throwing up too much and he wasn't himself. he apologized for his indulgence but it honestly wasnt a big deal to me since ive gotten myself sick plenty of times from weed. but he got distant after that and i really dont know why, even after assuring him i didnt think less of him. i send him memes from time to time or other things associated with his interests and hes polite but i dont think he wants to see me anymore. he's so tall and handsome and really sweet but ig i'm not what he wants. i know i shouldn't beat myself up over it but i really did start to like him. how do men just know exactly when to pull the knife out? yesterday he said i was cute after i sent him something pokemon related and i told him he was handsome and he liked the message so maybe theres a chance but i dont know if i want to keep putting the effort if he just like randomly clams up. i wish he would say what he means.

there is a new guy im talking to, but i don't think it'll be anything serious either. we matched a while ago on tinder and he threw his game and i threw mine back but then he just stopped messaging. then a couple days ago he just picked up where he left off and started throwing more game and like a fool im just eating it all up. he's into chubby short dudes apparently since he calls me things like "little furry guy" and "sweet fuzzy boy" and idk how to feel about that honestly. he's also six-foot-six so i already know to him im just one more prospective hoe in his rotation. he takes hours to respond even though he says he's sick at home. there i go again, feeling too much right at the beginning. but arent i at least worth a text back? I guess ive just been feeling really lonely lately, with the cold weather and all.

I started working at a sandwich shop in hillcrest called Ike's in october. I work full time and it's honestly the most easiest shit in the world. All i do all day is make sandwiches or use the slicer to slice veggies or protein, maybe portion if it's slow and besides the normal kitchen responsibilities, that's it. PLUS i think i've proven myself quite useful in the kitchen and i think my boss kind of trusts me. I really want this job to be the last one before i make any kind of career decisions.

there is something i'me very excited about: In january ill be starting a writing class at Second City!!! this is the first formal writing class i've ever taken, and it will focus mainly on sketch writing. there are six level and if it goes well, I think ill take them all. I also want to take the improv class, but that would mean I'd have to drive up to LA for that. but I think it'll be worth it to refine my (raw) talent. in all seriousness I hope it works out because writing is something i've always been good at. all my teachers have put great emphasis on my writing ability and even though i haven’t kept up as much, I know im a good writer, even a great one. but I want to sharpen my skills, so this is where i'll start. then once i take the classes i'm hoping i can get scouted by SNL writer and they'll throw me a bone, hopefully. I heard Lorne will be stepping down in a few years and I really hope i get to carry on the legacy. just a chance, at least.

The 12 best memes of 2015: Runaway llamas, The Dress, Adele …

The internet in 2015 has given us a lot of giggles a vigil to a raccoon, Drake playing tennis and the duck army but which memes construct our cut of the best?

12. What are thooooose!

A police officer. A cheeky dude( Brandon Moore) hollering what are thooose ? at the officers functional, ugly footwear. Millions of loops and views and copycats afterwards, a meme is born. The first urban dictionary entry for the phrase and practice appeared in 2011, but it was 2015 when the sport of pointing at some awful shoes( preferably Crocs) and shouting what are those ?!! entered the mainstream. The best example is the wonderful take on the Jurassic Park theme tune( see below, 50 million Vine loops so far ), which I like because its less mean-spirited than real life instances. In fact, “the mens” who started the whole thing back in the summer seems kind of rude and is now in jail. Um.

11. Duck Army

It stormed collective internet consciousness in early September. Norwegian Kevin Synnes decided to embarrass his girlfriend in a store by pushing down on a bunch of toy ducks which, when pressed, emitted a loud aaarghh ! noise. The video was then appropriated by Vine star Charlie Murphy and subsequently looped millions of days, spawning multiple variants. There has even been a mash-up with the what are those? meme. My person favourite versions are those which pay tribute to Adele and Taylor Swift.

However, a Guardian investigation revealed that that the toy was not a duck, but a pelican. Listen to our interview with Kevin here.

10. Hello, its me

It took merely a 30 -second snippet of Adeles new single, Hello, debuted during the advert violate of the UK television show, The X Factor, to have the vocalist trending worldwide on Twitter. And while the haunting piano and hushed, smoky tones beloved of millions of fans induced much excitement among those desperate to hear the full song, the clip also inspired plenty of memes.

Hello, its me is a pretty meme-able phrase, and the internet did not disillusion. When the sepia-tinged video dropped, featuring the vocalist in an amazing coat, using a flip-phone and hanging out in an abandoned home, the memes merely multiplied. Especially re: the flip-phone. One girl even texted her ex the entire lyrics to Hello, without him catching on at all.

9. Miley, whats good?

A lot of people characterised this as Nicki Minaj hurling tint at Miley Cyrus, which is a fundamental misunderstanding of the concept of tint. Minaj didnt throw shade she immediately called Cyrus out, in front of a TV audience of millions. If anything, that is the direct opposite of hurling tint.

The incident happened at the MTV Music Video Awards in response to an interview Cyrus gave in which she called Minaj not very polite. While accepting an award Minaj called Cyrus this bitch who had a lot to say about me in the press the other day, before aiming with the perfectly passive aggressive, Miley, whats good? Cue memes. Plenties and lots of memes.

8. Confounded Nick Young

Nick Young is a basketball player who shoots for the LA Lakers. His internet fame, however, is courtesy of a confused reaction face meme. At one point during a day-in-life-of documentary, Thru The Lens, positioned on YouTube, Young pulls a huh? face when his mother calls him a buffoon. His quizzical expression towards the camera has spawned likely the best reaction macro of 2015 and can be used for disbelief, astonish or a thousand other reactions.

7. Why you always lyin?

The 21 -year-old college student Nicholas Fraser became an internet sensation when he decided to perform, in his yard, perched on a lavatory, as one does, a quick cover-up of Nexts Too Close, but with the lyrics changed to why the fuck you lyin?/ why you always lyin ?) Given that people lie all of the time , and we know about it, guys , and we all want people to know that we know, Frasers vine caught on and inspired multiple cover versions of his cover version. Now, when your mate texts to tell she is five minutes away but you know she likely hasnt left the house yet, theres a perfect means of responding. Thanks Nicholas.

6. Fifty Shades of Grey

After the Fifty Shades of Grey series of volumes sold so poorly , it was a punt for Universal Pictures to have taken on a film adaptation. But oh, brave souls it was brought to the screen in summer 2015 with Sam Taylor-Johnson at the helm and Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson starring. Given that the book had already resulted in a lot of culture cache, it was inevitable that the film would inspire memes and gags. The internet delivered. In particular, the my savors are very singular line( altered to my passions are unconventional for the internet) demonstrated a rich seam.

5. Hotline Bling

One of the best ways of 2015, the video for Drakes Hotline Bling didnt drop-off until October three months after the ballads release. But it was worth the wait. A minimalist clip, Drake proves off his unusual dance moves against different coloured backdrops inspired by artist James Turell. The rappers moves and pained impression inspired multiple parodies shared on YouTube, Vine and Twitter.

Included below are some of the best: a dancing and adorable shiba inu( aka Doge ), the Man From Another Place from Twin Peaks and perhaps best of all, some tennis backhand action.

4. The Dress

The most viral of viral phenomenons. A young lady took a picture of a dress in a clothes store and uploaded it to Tumblr. Why is this interesting? As the internet was genuinely divided as to whether the dress was blue and black, or white and gold.

The original Tumblr post pose the question racked up an enormous 73m page positions, and a BuzzFeed piece on the dress has more than 38m page positions to date. #TheDress trended for days on social media. Scientists were carried in to explain how people could be seeing different colourings. Rods and cones were mentioned. British current affairs programme Newsnight even offered its own election. The Guardian waded in, with the definitive take.

3. Poot Lovato

I dont guess Ive ever chuckled so hard as when I detected the Poot Lovato meme. A Tumblr post featuring an awkward fan photo of vocalist Demi Lovato posited the hypothesi that the snap was not of Demi herself, but her secret twin sister, Poot Lovato, who had been trapped in a cellar her entire life. The fable took hold and soon the internet was ablaze with hilarious and creative Poot memes. Fan-fiction was written, fan art draw, Instagram and Twitter accounts were established and even Demi herself addressed the gag( she wasnt amused ). Then, instead, brilliantly, a sleuth excavate out a paparazzi photo of Demi-as-Poot right at the moment the fan pic was taken. Its still funny.

2. Llamas on the run

On THE SAME DAY AS THE DRESS, the internet explosion with one of the great police chases of our time two llamas on the run. The llamas, one black and one white, ran loose in Sun City, Arizona. The whole internet followed, glued to the ABC1 5 live river of the runaway animals and tracking updates on Twitter. The llamas, true heroes of freedom and an inspiration to all, had escaped from their day job in an animal therapy centre. The black llama was caught first, its emancipation ended with a cruel lassoing. The white llama ran on, but eventually, it too was caught. Still, these two were the internets favourite llamas since Serge, the French llama who travelled by subway.

1. Dead Raccoon

My personal win for meme of 2015 is the dead raccoon, an unfortunate soul, detected deceased on a Toronto street. After a human tweeted the relevant city authorities to tell them about the raccoon, the poor critter was left for hours in the same place. Over the next 12 hours, a vigil was set up for the raccoon, documented online. A note was left, a framed photo , notes were written. Someone gave the raccoon an unlit joint as a mark of respect. It get dark. Candles were illuminated. The raccoon was named Conrad. Eventually, the authorities turned up and unceremoniously dumped Conrad in a rubbish truck. Such a lack of respect.

Raccoon update: he’s still there. Someone has written him a card .
