people have pointed this out before but I love how the death note jdrama highlights how needlessly cruel L is capable of being..... calling Light (and the other Kira suspects) early in the investigation to falsely accuse him of being Kira just to see how he'd react, taunting Light relentlessly while he was imprisoned and interrogated, and of course the mock execution. all while knowing no one can really stop him. the jdrama really said "btw don't forget this guy's an ASSHOLE"
#light had to solo that mock execution in the drama too no misa no kira just a boy staring down the barrel of a gun held by his father#drama light isn't exactly a saint but he certainly isn't as adept at handling such brutal psychological warfare like animanga light was lol#L is an asshole and we love him for it but he's still an asshole#death note#death note jdrama#death note drama#death note tv drama#l lawliet#light yagami#there were the little funny taunts like him going to the misa concert and hiring lookalikes to swarm the place#so misa couldn't figure out which one he was and discover his name#or that time during the yotsuba infiltration where he tricks light into running full force into a closed door#but by god when you think about it for too long some of the earlier stuff is brutal for someone they only knew to be a suspect at that poin#there is an element of horror in imagining the level of power L actually holds as the world's greatest detective#even in the animanga it's like..... if this is the shit he gets away with when there are cops present......#I know that the kira case was unprecedented and it forced him to do things he normally wouldn't do (like going out in public for example)#but surely this can't be the first time he's staged a mock execution right...

#WHAT A CONCEPT#The imagery is soooo good#Anyway I caved. I've read the chapter without further context. I couldn't help it I loved the concepts it played with#Very Rufus the thing the guy with the brooch did at first. The panel of the archivist girl was so Lacie I could have kicked the wall#The play on the significance of names and existence and the role one plays in the world/notions of self I loved as well#And that is so 👀 when later on it's mentioned off-hand that... Olivier is actually named Romeo? Have I understood that well?#It was so cute that little throwback with him and Roland as kids. And that he knew of Astolfo meeting a friend but didn't tell due to that#And wow there was rape everywhere in this chapter? I didn't know Astolfo had been raped. I had heard about his... mother? sister?#But not him. I mean‚ maybe they were victims of sex-rape‚ but the talk about several vampires biting him and drinking his blood#and how the mark never leaves and how dirty and maimed in ever sense he feels sure seems to imply that at least metaphorically#The angel-like being also having gone through that is interesting again in its potential implications and ramifications. The very concept#Anyway... That pretty guy telling Astolfo that he knows what he's going through and recommending him to kill himself#because life is hell from that moment on... Wow he was so real and seemed so... sincere? But who knows. He sure is alive#That + the angel-like figure's words make it so intriguing given his position as chasseur? paladin? whatever the name was#Anyway I loved that he said that in any case#I liked Olivier on the verge of getting violent with the guy who was being a dick too I can't help it. Leave the kid alone#I'm rambling but yeah I loved the concept around this angel-like being both aesthetically and narratively for what we got#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later

On: today i dreamt...
What started as a story about a group of gangster breaking into an abandoned (but not really?) prison to film their movie and being caught soon devolved into an international conspiracy filled with subplots about love and corruption, culminating with both groups that we thought were equally righteous finding out not everything was quite as it seems.
#luly talks#i had to run a man on all 4s to catch him it was great#movie-dream started about like torture with our protags being thrown into a container at first full of blood and missing limbs#but that soon got dropped w the only thing left of it being this one man who had part of his jaw and ribs falling/peeling off#and he had to lovers an old one who was kissing him and a new one#(a cop; too) who was looking at his naked for for the first time as he looked at the sea and sunset#and she slowly approached him before starting to kiss his somehow still bleeding wounds as he mourned the pain of being crucified#like that guy literally never showed up again#oh my god actually there was something aside from that there was a really fucked up sims world that just couldn't be real#and ended w marge and homer drowning i think (their house was underwater) and Maggie dying too as a nursery rhyme played#and there was also a random event of domestic violence#anyway about the movie-dream; it had something to do about the government making illnesses and having the cure but keeping it#and it was tied to reagan but we all were talking spanish (tbf movie-dream; could've been dubbed DKDHNSGD) and the reason why we realized#this was because a radio message of a british girl named sumthin like casey i think who had cancer or something#and basically the government knew and had the mediums to cure her but wouldn't do it#so in the end me and this girl who discovered this conspiracy and the other and og group who was doing fuck all i guess came back together#and at first my friend pretended to be all of our enemies (she was enemies w only one guy there) but then we turned on the guy#and as I guess revenge on the people who were supporting this goverment conspiracy and helping it instead of killing them we grabbed them#and flashed a weird scan light onto their eye which made em be infected#<- in dream this shit was cool as fuck ok?#and then everyone went on w their lives and in the bud#bus* ppl spoke w me and gave me food leftovers to help out those who needed em but it felt... awkward#like they were doing it out of fear instead of kindness y'know#oh btw i rode an helicopter 😁

why do you switch between calling maq liu-er and macaque when talking about him
I'll explain it more in a later chapter but basically when Liù ěr left Flower Fruit Mountain, he started calling himself Macaque because he didn't feel like the same monkey that had lived on the mountain before it was burned.
I also kinda have this idea that both Liù ěr míhóu and Xiǎoshí hóu are "placeholders" (I think that's what it should be called, I'm spacing on if there is an actual word for it) and they are really being called their name in monkey while the other names, Six-Eared Macaque and Sun Wukong, are what they call themselves in human languages.

jc and lwj and jin ling of course lost so much that night, but of the surviving characters? a-yuan/lsz lost more than any of them while having the least amount of control over his situation and the least to do with the tragedies that he suffered. unfortunately people don't tend to dig into his pain because....he's boring....and the author pretends like he must not have any
#jc lost his family and home which was terrible ofc but he did rebuild and he did have jl#and he had power and status#and the chance to turn his life around for over a decade. he could have been...different he could have tried#jin ling was orphaned and bullied but he was raised by family to be heir to an extremely powerful and wealthy sect#lwj lost someone he loved and incurred a great deal of physical pain but he also maintained his position and privileges#yeah jc and jgy were not great parental figures but jgy was at least a good uncle to him a little bit I believe that#and jl knew he could trust jc#but a-yuan was a toddler who had his home stripped away from him so many times and all his family members violently killed#he was marked for death just because of his family name and the adults around him couldn't protect him#he was taken in and raised with love but he lost his entire identity....until wen ning and wwx returned he didn't even know#he went his whole life not knowing! he didn't even have a choice#and he was relegated to a footnote in the love story of other characters#for all his joy at the end I still feel like he lost more than anyone that night compared to other surviving characters#ficblogging

I was supposed to play DnD last night. The big campaign that I was planning for a while. But one of the players couldn't make it (internet died on her) so we decided to reschedule the game for the next week. But i didn't wanted to leave the rest of the players without a game they where exited about. So i hosted a one-shot turned two-shot for them since it was supposed to be the first time playing for most of them. The thing is, I already hosted it for my other friends (only the girl that couldn't make it, played it already so it was new for them all), and let me tell you both of the parties tried to do almost the same thigs but with completely different outcomes and it's hilarious.
#they where supposed to find the reason why people go missing and turn up dead in the old graveyard#they both tried to charm person the mayor(A gnome named Edgar who looks like a peacock) Paty1 druid a woman in her 40 was so ready to do-#-so but her friend and moral compass half orc fighter stopped her#in Party2 the charmer was an old (human?) bard Edgar failed miserebly with nat1 for total of 6 and spilled everything he knew#then they asked him about the money i started with 50 gold coins after the job each - Party1 thetened the guy and got-#200 gold each half beofre alf after the job (thanks to thier blood hunter and his insane roll)#party 2 tried to persuasion thier way out of it and got extra 10 gold he charmed agreed on the deal 30 beofre 30 after the job#both parties talked to day shift barnender (a young woman named Olive) Party1 thanks to thier Blood Hunter with extream high roll they-#-almost got the towns secret out of her but she told them enough that they could quess correctly#party 2 befriended her and tried to flirt with her (human warlock Young noble woman choked on her scrambled eggs cuz she rolled nat1)#they got much more info about the situation out of her then party1 and directions to the graveyard but they couldn't get the town's secret#party1 almost died during the battle and they still didn't get the mistery sorted out and we ended it there bc everyone was sleepy#party2 didn't finished the battle bc everyone was sleepy but they found the traps pretty soon and avoided them not like party1 who stumbled#into all 3 they also did much better job at fighting the mosters bc they almost killed one with almost no hits point loosen#(they blinded it first thing so it rolled with disadvantage the whole time and couldn't hit them)#AMAZING AND FASCINATING
