I love how with even the reveal that Kaguragi's affections towards Racles were in fact affectations we still don't really know what the fuck is going on with them. Like genuinely What Did He Mean By This
to me this feels like a case of him being swept up by Kaguragi's quick steps in the dance of their throne room communiqués (yes this is another bee reference, but did you know that the tango was originally performed by two men?), all the flattery and feigned innocence going to his head. He brags openly but with such artificial insouciance about the crown and its power, it recalls a teenage boy trying to impress an older girl with the flashy car his rich daddy bought him while still trying to look cool and aloof except they're both in their fucking thirties lol. Granted, neither have had a normal upbringing so it's understandable that he's a bit. Like That. lmaoooooo (Racles is heavily unlikely to have had friends at all, let alone girlfriends (or boyfriends) growing up, and most certainly would have been tutored within the castle, and though we're still not 100% on Kaguragi's backstory, I'm rather doubting he was just a simple peasant before the uprising, given the ease of his manner in the theatre of politics. A child of a noble rather than royal family? The former Queen of Toufu we saw a picture of having 3 dots on her face compared to Kaguragi's 4 and Suzume's 5 makes me wonder if in fact Kuroda-san is lying about his past completely, as that certainly seems familial in the way the Hasties share their little forehead lipstick lines...)

THIS more than anything makes me wonder about the nature of their relationship, and how complex it really is. Kaguragi feigning submission to him in order to steal the lance is one thing, but if it were as simple as Racles being completely fooled by that, I don't think he would have realised this, let alone admitted it out loud. This sounds like it's something he's been aware of (and perhaps subtly scolded, see: Bosimar's rather tired "wasn't that more than he needed to know?" that this cap is in response to) for quite some time. The way he fidgets with his hands so much in this scene makes it seem like he has a lot on his mind too. Could Racles have been letting Kaguragi deceive him, for his own means? He's still clearly A Bad King and not sympathetic in the slightest, but it might not be as cut and dry as it has seemed in this first third of the show.
Here we see that Racles knows Kaguragi very well indeed. The callback to Kaguragi's previous excuse (which he was not there for) of ninjaing his way into the throne room being "[I'm] just out for a stroll" implies that this is a rather common and weak excuse, and that he's caught Kaguragi out more than once snooping around. That he continues to let Kaguragi inside the palace despite this...?
This, too,
implies he's well aware that Kaguragi plays dumb to get his way and get out of trouble, and that he's been letting him do so. Why? What does he gain from encouraging such behaviour? Toufu is obviously the most important nation to control, being the world's food supply as well as just the physically largest territory, so there might be a bit of wanting to keep Kaguragi appeased while still keeping up the appearances of dominating him and keeping him under control. But who knows.
That he just stands there, speechless, when Kaguragi takes the crown and lance instead of lashing out at him is interesting too. Does he know he's lost and there's no point in putting up a fight? (though he puts up a decent one against Gira, despite being very obviously outgunned) Did he truly want Kaguragi to take the crown away, and does its use have some negative drawback that hasn't been revealed? Is he just so heartbroken by betrayal, unforgiving of himself to have fallen into Kaguragi's honey trap? Girl who knows but I'm having fun

What is the relationship between Kuroda and Asami? And what does Kuroda think of Aki?
Most of what we know about their relationship is from the lite novel Finder No Souen. Which has not been officially translated into English but I have read a fan made translation so I’ll give you a run down of the events.
The events take place when both Asami and Kuroda are in high school, which they go to the same elite tokyo prep school. At the time, Kuroda is being bullied by a group of random street thugs who wait outside for him and beat him up, and threaten to hurt his sister. He is paying them off, to stop them and its kinda not working and they continue to extort money from him. He’s very ashamed but feels he can’t go to anyone for help, thinking the situation will only esculate.
One day while he is heading to the place where he usually meets the thugs to pay them off, he finds them in the middle of a fight— with Asami. Asami easily deals with them and Kuroda is watching it all from the sidelines in total shock. He recognizes Asami from his school but knows nothing about him. After Asami deals with the thugs he sees Kuroda but they don’t say anything to each other and Asami just leaves.
They kinda accidently meet again and Kuroda sorta just finds him to be cool. He notices when he hangs out with Asami the thugs stay away from him, so he feels very safe around Asami despite him hearing bad and mysterious rumors about Asami from fellow students. They start a kind of budding friendship, mostly because Kuroda follows Asami around. He goes to Asami’s work place — which is a bar that Asami works in. Asami cooks for him one time or makes him drinks, and Kuroda studies at the bar while Asami is setting up for the evening.
The major part of the story is that - Kuroda gets kidnapped by the thugs. It’s kinda a long story, but basically the thugs were targetting Kuroda in the first place because his dad, who is a Judge, was the one that put their buddy/older brother dude in jail. It was in revenge for that. But this buddy of theirs gets out of jail and immediately wants to take revenge so they kidnap him. It’s pretty graphic at that point…I won’t get into detail. But its very horrid and he’s trapped with them for a few days, and he gets drugged. Asami finds out and rescues him, and takes him back to his house where he nurses him for a few days.
Kuroda owes Asami his life. This is where his extreme loyality comes from, and why he semi- works for Asami. In that he leaks him information and does things that benefit Asami like cleaning up messes. We know that Kuroda had a hand in cleaning up what happen in Tokyo after Fei Long came and took Akihito. The details on that are kinda iffy but i would guess that Kuroda is corrupt and maybe destroys evidence or withholds evidence for Asami’s sake.
Kuroda is truly one of Asami’s only friends.
In No Souen everything is in Kuroda’s perspecitive and he thinks very highly of Asami, and sometimes notes…a little too often, about his attractiveness, and how otherwise amazing he is. It’s possible this relationship could have turned into a romance —or more likely turned into Kuroda having one sidely felt something. Which i am more inclined to believe because I do not sense attraction from Asami at all. Kuroda on one hand, becomes too tramatized after what happen so I feel any sense of romance maybe died for him — but he still felt immensely grateful and loyal towards Asami. On the otherside, Asami left before it could turn into anything, as Papa Asami basically blackmails Asami to return to his side after the events of No Souen.
We know Asami left Tokyo for a while after that, he became a mercenary for his fathers organization shortly after the events of No Souen and we dont know when he returned to Japan after however long he worked for his father. Maybe they didnt reconnect until Kuroda had finished law school and was starting to work as a prosecutor.
Now lets get to the second half of your question. What does Kuroda think of Aki?
Their meeting in vol 7 is very memorable! Kuroda was being super salty! I think he just wanted information out of Akihito and as a prosecutor he can be kinda sly about getting that information. When he’s originally grilling Akihito, its very clear to me that he knows very little about their relationship. Which makes sense because I dont think Asami is the type to gossip about that. Kuroda didn’t even know that they were living together — he only guesses and Akihito gets tricked into revealing that they are living together.
I think all of his questions were test. Kuroda is loyal to Asami, and wants to know who he is assoicating with and who he might be living with.
On the surface the rumors about Akihito Takaba make him out to be nothing more than a boy toy. But imagine hearing those rumors is probably confusing to someone like Kuroda who knows Asami very well. And knows how closed off Asami actually is, and how he doesn’t usually let people inside his life. Kuroda also knows about what happened in Hong Kong and he knows that Asami isn’t someone who would be rushing off to Hong Kong for just anybody— So he somewhat knows that Akihito is somebody to Asami.
That question he asks - “How much are you a night?” It was so bold and kinda crude! But he isnt looking for a real answer to that— he is only looking to see Akihito’s reaction! Is he going to get indignant? Is he gonna blow a fuse? Kuroda basically calls him a whore, and he wants to see how Akihito will react to that!
Well Aki being Aki just goes into completely shock and can’t respond properly at all. He goes bright red! Which I think is meant to tell Kuroda that aki is a total innocent— and that he is in fact not just Asami’s boy toy nor is he a whore.
That “answer” Kuroda recieves— It’s hard to know how he feels about it. But there is a small scene after he leaves that I think maybe says he’s a tiny bit jealous… When he turns away to leave he leaves behind a rolled up magaize. Which Akihito picks up and sees that Kuroda squeezed it so hard that he left finger marks. Which must have been made in the moment Akihito “answered”
I can kinda interpret that as being a little jealous, but maybe it is simply because he wants to hold the special title of being the “closest” to Asami — but that title is now being taken over by Akihito. I feel he holds no ill will against Akihito — he is not the same as Sudo in this situation. I think he is just confused by Asami’s reasoning for keeping Akihito around.
Because in his mind Asami doesn’t associate with people who don’t have “uses”. Kuroda is still useful to Asami because of his job and how he cleans up after Asami or gives him information. In a way, even though Kuroda is Asami’s friend their relationship is still somewhat transactional. He still recieves favors and gifts for helping Asami. This is his way of staying in Asami’s life is by proving his worth and his useful-ness. But in his mind Kuroda doesn’t understand what “use” Akihito has in Asami’s life.
Later when Kuroda meets Asami at his apartment, he is still making snide comments about Akihito. Calling him a “problem child” and other kinda of back handed things. He makes another snide remark to Akihito as he is leaving the apartment - “Iv already had my fill” which sounds very jealous too me! and almost like he is trying to gode Akihito into thinking Asami and him have a special relationship.
But Kuroda i think maybe warms up to him a bit, when he sees Akihito in action and sees he’s clever. He even outright explains to Akihito that he doesnt want people with “half-assed feeling” to get close to Asami. Meaning his entire behavior towards Akihito, is just his way of protecting Asami from people who might want to use him, and he maybe once considered Akihito to be that kind of person.
But I do think he realizes that Akihito is important to Asami. Kuroda is definitely the person who told Asami that Akihito was taken by Sudo, after Akihito was drugged in that underground brothel. Which is why Asami shows up at the right moment to shot at Aaron when he’s shotting at Suod, and Kuroda in the ware house. Kuroda is also the one that acted to find Akihito right away, and is the reason the police raid that warehouse and arrested Sudo.
I made another post awhile ago about that scene when Sudo gets shot, and how I think Kuroda came running to Akihito and took a bullet meant for him (x) Even though all his earlier bluster and treating akihito like a bratty kid. Even if he doesn’t particularly like it — he understand that Asami treats Akihito differently. And so Akihito is very important to Asami and that if Akihito gets hurt or killed — it would hurt Asami. In that moment I do think Kuroda showed he was very selfless when it comes to Asami, even if he found Akihito to be annoying or he doesnt really understand their relationship — he still wants Asami to be happy. And if this dumby bratty kid is the thing that Asami seems to find annoyingly important and is constantly protecting, then thats enough reason for Kuroda to also want to protect Akihito as well.

Hubert: I've been curious about this for a while–
Millet: … Curious about what?
Hubert: This is what I mean.
Millet: Is this… ink? That's what Hokusai-san and the others use.
Hubert: Right. I… I've never used ink before. It's smoother than paint, so I was curious about how comfortable it would be to draw with.
Millet: Indeed, I've been wanting to use it for a while too. Is it really different from paint?
Jan: Bert-nii!
Hubert: Jan! What's wrong?
Jan: I came to help youuu! You're cleaning Hokusai-nii's room, right? Kuroda-sensei told me!
Hubert: I see. Thank you, you're a good boy, Jan.
Jan: Hehehe♪
Ah, the one you have, it's that thing Hokusai-nii has! It's called “ink”, right?
Hubert: Yes, that's right. Are you curious about it too, Jan?
Jan: Yeah! I thought it would be fun. I can try it... or is it a no-no?
Hubert: You can't. I told you, you can't use other people's things without permission, okay?
Jan: Awww… But why not?
Hubert: Because no. If you want to use it, you need to ask Hokusai-san and get his approval.
Jan: But, but I saw Hokusai-nii going outside? He said he was going to the atelier.
Millet: Hokusai-san got lost again…
(If he doesn't come back after a while, we might as well go looking for him. It would be a big problem if he got in trouble with the police again.)
Jan: I never know where Hokusai-nii is going to end up… Just a bit! Just a little bit... Please, Bert-nii!
Hubert: … Alright. When Hokusai-san comes back, tell him, okay?
Jan: Okay!
Millet: (After all, Hubert has a soft spot for Jan.)
Jan: *scribbles* Woaah, amazing! I can paint better than paint! Hahaha, it's fuuun! Hey, hey! Let's draw together, Bert-nii, Millet-nii!
Hubert: Huh? Us as well?
Millet: But I feel bad for Hokusai-san…

Uno Reverse
Summary : All you want to do is to give your lover a surprise but you think he’s the one who give you a surprise instead.

A/N : I almost late finishing this omg. But here I am with Heizou story on his birthday. I hope you like this one. Also fear not, there’s a lot of stories that was on the work right now. And headcanon too! So please be patient with me :)

You watch Heizou getting ready for his mission from Ayato as you pack him some food for him. You slowly look at the calendar, and you can see Heizou’s birthday will come in 5 days. Which is exactly the same time as when Heizou done with his mission.
“I’ll see you in 5 days?” Heizou asked as he watched you walk with food for him in your hands. You nod your head before you give him a hug. Heizou smile as he hugged you back and kissed the top of your head.
“Be careful. I will wait for you.” You said before you kiss him on the lips which he happily kissed you back. He then waved his hand the one who did not hold his food and left. You decided to continue with your day as you wait for your lover to come back. And while at it, you start to plan for his surprise birthday party.
There are so many rough plans that bloom in your head as you do your daily commission. Thinking that you should probably pull Thoma and Ayaka in your plan as you know both of them are the one who know about you and Heizou first.
While on your way to Katheryne, you passed the Yae Publishing House. You decided to give a quick look to see what books they have. Your eyes glistening in excitement when you saw a bunch of riddles and crime mystery books. Heizou immediately come to your mind when you saw those books.
You quickly ask Kuroda how much those books are, and quickly purchase those books and some novels you’ve been waiting for a while. You continue to walk to Katheryne. After you asked for your daily commission, you left and continue your day as usual.

Days passed and without you realizing, it’s 3 more days before Heizou come back. You decided than to take a trip to Kamisato Estate to asked for Thoma’s and Ayaka’s help. The three of you then decided to talk about Heizou’s surprise party on Komore Teahouse.
After talking to Ayaka and Thoma for a couple hours, you decided to make separate surprise party for Heizou. The first one is only with you, and the second one with his and your friends. You decided to make the second one for the next day since you know Heizou will come back at night on his birthday.

Now you only have 2 days left, you start to preparing for Heizou party. First you go around Inazuma city to invite Heizou’s and your friends (including Kujou Sara too). After that you went to shop some food ingredients, some party materials (i.e ordering some small fireworks from Yoimiya), and some candles. Then you decided to buy the flowers later. Once you done, you decided to call it a night.

As soon as you woke up, you remember that today is Heizou birthday. You then proceed to jump out of the bed and take a quick bath before you start to preparing your surprise for him.
While decorating the dining table, you can’t help but feel giddy for you can’t wait to see him after a while got separated. Without you realizing you start to day dreaming.
You let out a yelp when you accidentally cut you accidentally cut your self with a scissors when you trim the flowers you bought for the decoration. Somehow you feel something wrenching in you gut. You softly shook your head before the bad thought invading your mind more than you want to.
The night finally come, and you already finished preparing surprise for Heizou. You keep waiting for him. And finally a smile show up on your face when you hear keys dangling and the door unlocked. You quickly run to the front door.
You blinked as your smile drop. In front of you is Heizou. Your Heizou. But he looked so tired. Can be seen from how there’s no smile and how dark his eyebags are. Not to mention you see several bruises and wounds littering his body.
You quickly pull him inside and make him sit on the sofa. You quickly grab a clean cloth before you we it with warm water. Heizou watch you run around the house in silence.
“Mission was rough?” you softly asked as you clean some dried blood on his wounds. He slowly nodded his head. You frown a little before you start to use your vision to heal up the unattended wound he have.
Heizou let out a relieved sigh when he feel your vision make his body feel warmer and also ease the pain he feel from the wounds he had. A ghost smile creeping up your face when you feel Heizou rest his head on yours.
You decided to do one last examination around his body to see if there’s any wound your vision didn’t manage to heal. After you make sure that there’s no wound left you pull him to get into the bathroom and help him take a bath.
Heizou seems to enjoy the special treatment that he somehow got today. It was proven with how his smile never disappear from his handsome face. After he finish with bath, you take him to go to the dining table.
“Happy Birthday, my love.” You whispered to him. He blinked a couple times before his eyes move to the calendar on the dining room. And he saw 24th July with red hearts around it.
He let out a laugh before he picked you up and spin you around. He then carefully put you down. Warm hands cupping your face before he kissed you like it was his last kiss. You smile and circle your arms around his neck to pull his body closer.
“You surely know how to make me surprised.” He spoke in a whispered tone. You shook your head as a giggle escape from you.
“Isn’t that what YOU good at? Scaring me with body full with bruises and wounds. On your birthday too.” you answered back with a teasing tone.
“I know I know. I’m sorry. I love you.” He rubbed his nose with yours.
“No need to be sorry, love. All that important is that you are save and sound with me. I love you too.” You hug him again.

I actually don't mind the dubs all that much. I know among the fan base, they consider playing the RGG games in anything other than Japanese is a sin against anime Jesus, but I feels that's dismissing a lot of the work and effort the translators and actors put into this.
Also may be biased bc I got into the series via Judgment, which was one of the first games to do an English dub since the original Yakuza game. And even the original Yakuza English dub has hit 'so bad it's good' status.
I also find this hatred for the recent English dubs has been used as an excuse to get away with harassing the new dub cast (the rgg fan base has been awful to Yongyea ever since he announced he'd be the new dub voice for Kiryu), so I have even less sympathy for these weebs. You're free to not like his performance, but leave the man alone, he's just doing his job and he's super stoked to play the part (he's even gotten the blessing for the role from Takaya Kuroda, so seriously, fuck you guys).
I tend to play the games twice with both audio streams (English on initial playthrough, Japanese on Legendary). Let people play the game how they want to play it. You want to play in Japanese, fine, but leave everyone else alone.

* Yes there was a Spare Bike movie -- but was that just it? Would there be a chance to make it into a proper anime series!?
* Miyahara (a.k.a. Class Rep) has finally given a name -- SUZUKO. I'm gagging
* Fight me or not, Manami is actually... hermit-smart. You know what I mean?
* Was it mentioned in Spare Bike that Arakita is bad at Math? All I know is that he easily falls asleep just by seeing numbers swimming on the blackboard, but I don't remember reading one part that he sucks at it. Because what if he is actually hecking good at it? I mean, he won't be able to get into the course of his choice in Yonan if he sucks at Math.
*And I am tell you, since Onoda is now captain, one possible punishment he could give to his juniors, if and when they didn't finish their laps or anything similar, is to make them perform Love Hime's opening theme -- complete with costume and such. Fellow third years are NO EXCEPTION.
* I won't be surprised if KyoFushi will win this year's Inter-High. I have mixed feelings for Midousuji, but he is a one damn opponent since day one.
* Who made their first impression that Teshima and Aoyagi were like evil stepbrothers in Onoda's life -- but they proved us wrong and they are now one of the most celebrated pair in the series? I'm raising my hand.
* And yes, I’m signing their adoption papers now.
* Who knows Aya Tachibana, Miki's BFF from the tennis team? I wanna see more of her, because reasons.
* The funniest character in the series IMHO? FUKUTOMI. Watch the omakes of the first two seasons and you'll understand why.
* Am I the only one who thinks that Toudou is a good dancer? I mean, he was trained in traditional dance, right?
* Imaizumi is a great representation of all closet otakus.
* I'm one of the victims of wrong impression that Makishima is a bad person because of his looks. I humbly apologize. From then, I saw the light, he's the patron saint of awkwardness. He is MY patron saint.
* Okay, Toudou is, obviously, my number one. But for whatever reason since I watched Limit Break, I’m sinning against him because of JUNTA GODDAMN TESHIMA.
* Speaking of Teshima, is there really such thing as an ABACUS COMPETITION? That was as per their Wiki.
* Speaking of Limit Break, TO OMIT THAT DEATH MATCH SCENE BETWEEN TESHIMA AND URAKUBO IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY. And to make it worse, Urakubo in the anime was denoted to a mere side character. I’ve read the manga, and I’m so brokenhearted.
* What’s more heartbreaking? Where the hell are our dose of omakes every end of the episode!? We finally had a glimpse of its eyecatch -- AT WHAT COST!?
* My sincerest apologies for not reblogging translated recent chapters due to lack of time, but GOD BLESS ROKUDAI. I would love to see him grow as the series go on.
* So knowing that Izumida et. al. already graduated, do you think they will have their own Spare Bike chapter? I believe they should.
* I believe Watanabe-sensei has a knack of molding side characters into MCs one day. Perfect examples of this redemption technique are Teshima, Aoyagi and Kuroda -- to the point that they even underwent a makeover!
* Midousuji has the most number of different hairstyles in the entire series -- so far.
* Have you ever wondered if Hakogaku even had a manager like Miki?
* As much as I’m having doubts about Limit Break at this moment, I still hope they would show the last ‘episode’ where Team Sohoku would go back to Akihabara and then go to a karaoke to celebrate.
There might be a lot more in store but these are my thoughts right now and I hope you don’t mind me blabbering about this because in all honesty, I regret not knowing about this eight years ago.

Finished The Lost Future of Pepperharrow!
(spoilers ahead!)
This was a...good book? I guess? I feel like I should've reread The Watchmaker of Filigree Street first, but also don't because not much from that book seemed to carry over to this one.
I liked the plot, though it didn't make sense to me for a while, at least there was enough happening to keep me engaged. The setting was cool, I've read a lot of books set in Japan this year and I really enjoyed it, especially seeing more of the forest and Mount Fuji. Also Six is wonderful! Love a weird child, especially one that doesn't play to the Creepy Child stereotype and is just....normal little-girl weird. Also Thaniel and Mori's parenting skills are excellent and hilarious.
I did hate that Takiko got fridged. Like, there's no way around it. She died to further Mori's plot, and because Thaniel somehow fucked up by switching to the dark timeline with a decision he didn't know was important. I feel like there's a way this could've been written so she didn't die, but I also kinda feel like the author wanted her out of the way so this pesky wife wouldn't interfere with Mori's gay English affair. Though she's also just a marriage of convenience, and he abandoned her for 10 years so was she really interfering? The book acts like Mori coming back to Japan means he now has to Fulfill Husbandly Duties or something, which he really doesn't. (This drives me nuts bc it's like every SPN fanfic that bends over backwards to get rid of Dean's love interest in a ~cool feminist way~. No, she didn't die because she was in the way! She died.....to uh....create enough of a disturbance in this timeline that Mori comes back!! Nevermind that she could've just thought about it really hard and he would've reacted as if it happened! It makes me so mad because after a decade Takiko finally has the freedom to do whatever she wants without guilt and anger and fear hanging over her and she just! Dies!! Why!!!)
Also, it's hard to explain but since I've read a lot of books set in Japan recently, by comparison it really feels like the author came at this from a hard British perspective? Like, I know Thaniel is a Brit and thinks everything is strange and new when he arrives there, but even when she's narrating from Takiko or Kuroda's perspectives it still doesn't feel totally...natural? It's like she set the story in Japan, but wanted it to still be Britain, and has to strongly point out whenever something is Not British, if that makes any sense? I'm honestly not sure what would help with this, maybe it's just her writing style annoying me. There's just a subtle difference between her writing and say, Sifton Tracey Anipare's in Yume.
Also, I wish we'd gotten Grace's perspective again. I know she was a kind of a cunt and a bit homophobic in the last book, but she was deeply interesting and I would've liked to hear more about the experiments. Also, I find it mildly weird that she and Thaniel left off on a sour note, and yet she seems terribly excited to see him, beyond like, normal relief about maybe getting busted out of her lab-prison, so hearing her perspective on the whole thing would've been nice.
Anyway, this book was a 3-3.5/5 for me I think. I might reread it someday but...idk. Pulley is not a bad author but I don't think she's ever going to write a book that will totally wow me, and I think she tends to set up interesting plot points, but then sacrifices good plot and sensible character choices to keep her OTPs together without much fuss. At the end of this, she really wanted Thaniel and Mori to go back to England as if nothing ever happened except the electron microscope being invented (which...is actually kinda pointless unless penicillin was ALSO discovered at this time, did Mori put mouldy bread in some petri dishes too?) and it doesn't really feel like a truly satisfying ending.

Pulleyverse Characters + Karaoke Song Choice (& how well they can sing it)
Grace and Matsumoto: they do the stereotypical ass couple songs per Matsumoto's request, (Don't Go Breaking My Heart, (I've Had) The Time of My Life, etc.) but Grace does not like singing or being on stage at all so it's just him giving it his all and her standing there speaking her part. Matsumoto is a solid 7/10 singer, and Grace is a 4/10 when she tries, 1/10 when she doesn't (she gets credit for unintended comedic value).
Raphael: I don't know why but he gives me Careless Whisper vibes. And he'd be damn good at it too, dynamics and everything, he's got it on lock. Either that or he's doing the classic 90s/early 2000s boyband songs like Bye Bye Bye and I Want It That Way. No matter what tho it's an 8/10 easily.
Kite: he's the bastard that does the Tequila song. 9 times out of 10 says it on the wrong beat. He does not wanna be on stage and no one can get him to do any song besides that one. 0/10 boring af. Sea shanties tho??? Sign him tf up.
Thaniel: he doesn't do much singing, but will always accompany anyone who wants to. If he's going to do any singing, it will usually be a ballad-type song with a piano behind it like Hey Jude, Your Song, Piano Man (for the brand), etc. He doesn't really like to sing on stage so when he knows people are watching he's a solid 6/10, but when nobody is really around it's at least an 8/10. Still prefers piano tho.
Merrick: any stereotypical ass Dad Rock song. Livin' On A Prayer, Don't Stop Believin', Dream On, that kinda thing. Painfully average, sounds exactly how you think a slightly tipsy middle-aged dad sounds. 5/10.
Joe: I feel like he'd oscillate between Micheal Jackson and Queen songs, and I can definitely picture him KILLING a cover of Love Never Felt So Good. 9/10, he'd be a great performer too.
Mori: he can probably do a solid rendition of Fly Me To The Moon but that's about all he's willing to do. Not bad, and great for his natural tone, but kinda bland. 6/10.
Vaulker: he's doing the dad rock that's Purposefully Not Politically Correct so he can Make A Statement. (Dude) Looks Like A Lady, that new Journey song that's about not wearing masks that I can't remember for the life of me, all that kind of stuff, and he thinks it makes him look so edgy and cool too. Plus he's always in the wrong key. 2/10 for comedic value only.
Takiko: she does the cool indie songs that no one had heard of before then and absolutely kills it. She will sometimes have people come up to her and say that they listened to the original song and preferred her version. I'm listening to Bone Bag by Superet rn and it sounds fantastic performed live so in my head that's kinda what she would be singing. 9/10 no matter what she sings tho.
Midori: I say girl in red for her in every post I make and that is not changing today, she is doing lovely covers of we fell in love in october at any given opportunity and staring directly at Takiko the entire time. It sounds great every time, it's just a little awkward for the audience, so it gets an 8/10.
Tanaka: I've been trying to figure out who the 70s-80s rock/metal singer is most of this post and it pains me to say it's Tanaka. Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, the whole works. And he's putting on a SHOW too, no half-assed shit, he's pulling out live snakes like the real singer's live shows and doing a bunch of weird shit like they do. His singing is mediocre, 5/10 at best, but the presentation bumps it up to at least a 7/10.
Kuroda: someone forced him to do I'll Make A Man Out Of You one time as a joke and now it's unironically his go-to. He's very stiff the entire time but surprisingly accurate to the real song. 6/10.
Minna: she does all the new-aged Disney music that everyone listens to religiously for a week until it becomes obnoxious. Let It Go, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Show Yourself, that kind of thing. She's definitely a good singer, but all the parents in the room are groaning and plugging their ears the entire time. 7/10.
Agatha: definitely the one to do the basic ass "edgy" female singer songs like Cherry Bomb and (I Love) Rock and Roll. They're not bad songs, no one actually dislikes the songs, but she puts wayyy too much effort into the natural gravelly sound of the original songs to the point where it's just annoying. 3/10.
Wellesley: she not doing any songs unless she is piss-drunk, and when she does she skips right to rapping. Any type of rap, word perfect every time, and she doesn't remember a bit of it when she's sober. 10/10 scarily impressive.
Pringle: I've said it once and I'll say it again; he's a Yung Gravy fan, through and through. If he tried, he'd be a pretty decent singer, but he just goes for Gravy songs every time. 4/10.
