New Years Resolution Manifestation Rant Listicles
and yes I'll put it under Read More for all of our sakes. Happy New Year 2014 everbody!!
Prelude: Who I want to be
lemme be real for a sec. I am going to be turning a serious age this year. rhymes with flirty. I have had time to get grown but now it's time to get wise! It's time for me to get behind the wheel of my life again. I felt like I was behind it 4 years ago but We All Know What Happened. It Is Happening To All Us. Coming back home to my parents stunted my growth a little and also I feel it erode at my current friendships. I feel like I'm doing a good job of improving myself, but this year I need to improve my relationship to others. So yeah in short, less autopilot, more hangouts with friends, less overwork, more hobbies...
How will I go from Consoomer and Doomer to Improover and Dooer?
1. Be more consistent with what I want to practice - that goes for working out, digital art, other hobbies I may want to pick up... saw a Tiktok once saying that we need to pick up slow activities again bc clearly, the need to be instantly gratified has poisoned almost every aspect of our lives. InstaGrat also helps us be in autopilot a lot easier, we can't think, we can't breathe, we can't taste our food before swallowing it down. this year I'm going to change that by planting a lot of seeds that I may not see bloom for weeks, months, years even!
2. Approach people with curiosity - not the best communicator as I've said many different times on this blog. I always catch myself trying to make the conversation about myself and how I can relate to it instead of asking the other person more about themselves or what they think. I've seen enough thinkpieces on other sites recommend this that I might as well try it for myself and see how it works out.
3. Get off my damn phone - already made steps towards this! Tiktok and IG are gone from my phone, whenever I go into a huge timesink like Tumblr (sorry) or Discord I set it up so I get an annoying pop-up telling me all the other things I could be doing! (I will share this Shortcut w anyone who needs it, iPhone exclusive tho sorry)
4. Appreciate all the stuff I have - while I am nowhere need as bad as my mom who needs to go to Burlington and buy 3 whatchamacallits or else she has a nervous Boomer breakdown, I do admit I own and have access to a lot of things I take for granted, like books, games, tools like my iPad, PC, etc. I will fight against analysis paralysis, I will squeeze the life out of all that I own, I won't spend another day bored inside my head if I don't have to.
5. Collect. Organize. Do. - one of my oomfs indirectly changed my Youtube algorithm for the good and I've been getting a lot of videos from Improovtube. skimmed through a video that suggested a neat system for getting things done: Collect your thoughts and desires. Organize your tasks. Do the things that make it happen. and just like that every self improvement book I've read is useless. lol no but really it's crazy that that's all it boils down to. I will investigate more on this system but for now this seems like a good modus operandi.

Reading more of my physical books and manga (and I get to see their spines when I finish :D)
Bigger boobs
Becoming a homeowner

There isn't a catch all tag, and that's a extremely good idea. I'm kinda kicking myself for not asking for feedback before making a whole poll about it. We'd still have the poll, but there would've been better options about what to do. Also for not doing that to start with.

True, there have been a fair amount, and it's been ramping up. Not a bad thing, it's nice that people have curiosity about other's canons and sources.
Seems like a lot of work, but doable imo. My concern would be actually getting people to vote for the ask games. Also if an ask game wins, but nobody plays it, then what? Do we just go onto the next one? Would there be a time limit? What if people send things after the time limit? I'd feel like such a dick for not posting it because they didn't send it in on time. This isn't really a final exam at school or your office job with time limits. Literally how do I explain it without sounding like a Super Serious Tool?
People do that for holiday things, you can't stop that from happening. The only reason I put a time limit for holidays is so nobody gets triggered after they remove a tag from their blacklist, assuming nobody celebrates Fathers Day 2 weeks afterwards. You know what I mean? Not to mention this blog is very active. People may not see prompts until long after the time limit, and they may still want to participate. Also who thinks up themes, if there will be any?
Though maybe we don't vote on them. Like you mentioned, people might get upset if theirs isn't picked. I suppose we could just do it chronologically, as they're sent in. I'm not sure how to manage this. Save the future ask games to drafts and hope I don't lose them? Probably.

The thing about the auxiliary blog is that it won't have the same amount of traffic and might go dead. Not a bad thing, such is life. But I think part of the appeal of ask games replies and confessions is that this is a fairly high traffic blog. People want to be seen, even if it's anonymous. I wouldn't mind running a side blog, or at least getting it active enough to let someone else handle it.

I don't know about the canon call thing, I haven't really seen people implying they should be contacted over x y z happening in their canon due to an ask game reply. Honestly I'm not fighting that battle very hard anyways.
I get the feeling that ask games are going to stay. But we did get some ideas on how to manage them better than their current form.
Summary of suggestions
Limit amount of active ask games per week or per month. Maybe 3 per week?
Create a catch all tag for ask game responses
Ask game topics per week or month. Maybe can be voteable as well?
Create side blog solely for ask games regardless??

Hi, Hello, This is Me
Hi,
Wow, okay, this feels strange but hi, hello.
To start, I'm someone who is always browsing on Tumblr and I find that the posts that make me the happiest are the ones where I just read about people's days. I love hearing that you studied Japanese for an hour and then took a nap for the rest of the day. I love hearing that you spent the day with your family or you spent it just watching Netflix or reading a book. I love reading those kinds of posts, and for whatever reason they just fill me up inside.
So, I got to thinking and I wondered maybe I should do the same too? If I can see the beauty in the mundane for others, then maybe by posting, I'll start to see the beauty of my own life as well? I don't know if that logic will work, but hey, that's why we're experimenting right lol.
I've had this idea to start posting for a while now, but I kept thinking that I'll do it when I'm in the best mood or at least a better mood. That way, I can have this fully fleshed out and a thoughtful first post. But honestly, if I keep waiting for my perfect mood and the perfect time to upload, I'll never do it or it would at least take me a very long time to do it. Plus, it defeats the whole point. I love reading people's posts even if they didn't have a great day, and I want to post what is most natural and true to me, without having to be in the 'perfect' state to do so.
So, what kind of Tumblr blog will this be, you may ask. Well, I have no idea. It's not going to be about studying because I can't stick to a studying routine, but maybe it will just be a daily life recap? (Daily also sounds a bit much because I am absolutely horrible at being consistent for myself, but... we'll see.)
But yea basically it will be me talking about my day, maybe my life, anything really.
That's part of why I like Tumblr, because it kind of feels like shouting into the void. (Also, I've never been the type to disclose personal life stuff over the internet but I know other people do and now I feel strangely excited as if I'm using the internet for the first time lol)
Anyways enough chit chat, here's a recap of today.
I had a huge essay that was my midterm due today at midnight and I spent the entire day in between classes and even in the middle of classes trying to work on it. (procrastination at its finest) I just barely submitted it in time and yea it barely makes sense, but hey I did it.
I also tried an F45 class for the first time at the gym. And it was great. I've been really needing some physical activity in my life, and that exercise class completely whooped my butt, but I felt proud of myself for doing it in the end.
Also made some coconut shrimp and pasta and rice for dinnerrrr and it was yummmmm!! (mostly instant stuff bc I don't cook)
So yea, it was a busy day but pretty good overall. Hope you guys have a good day too 💛

obviously liking build mart or not is heavily dependent on who you're watching because you're more likely to enjoy a certain game, if the person you're watching is having fun. as someone who has consistently watched false's pov live (false my queen 🖐️), i like build mart. at the same time, it is kind of a shitty game and i 100% get why people, especially people like dream, would hate it. i'd hate it to of i were there, bro, memory? shit.
but like. i don't care? i usually don't care about stuff like this tbh but, as my track record suggests, i did go down some,, interesting people's blogs and posts and opinions on the matter
main big thing i see (mainly on tumblr btw bc i can't stand twt) are people wanting build mart removed or changed, mainly for dream. which imo is fair, a large reason parkour warrior was changed to tag was actually because of grian, and the way grian reacted to parkour warrior is very reminiscent to how dream treats build mart ngl. but like,, they did change build mart? between seasons? it wasn't a big change, but i remember literally everyone i watched (pvpers and builders) said the new change made it so much better. and i don't think they're going to remove it, just like they're not going to remove a lot of the pvp games. people prefer different games and that's just like,, how it is ig
big thing is dream's reaction, largely because he is one of the biggest people on mcc and has such a vocal disdain for build mart, so what he says, a lot of people will go with (kinda like mid game voting y'know, just with more dts) which is what creates the discourse, people mainly parroting what their favourite little meow meow says. and ofc this fandom is.. a wild one, so discourse is Discourse and the actual problem gets so skewed. i've seen people say noxcrew is ableist because of build mart? and that they're favouring hermits? which is. strange. bc if you look at the amount of pvp games i'd say they're more definetly not
imo i like build mart, i don't think it should be removed, unless there's another building (or ngl even redstone) based game that can replace it, but even then a lot of the pvpers are still gonna hate it, so there's no real winning here, just like grian still hates parkour tag. at the end of the day, it is still literally a minecraft tournament, and this is getting blown way out of proportion, but discourse is expected, and actually a lot of the time very civil. people just like arguing, let's be real lol.

i haven't watched squid game (actually i don't think i'd watch). the only reason i sent in that ask was bc i really thought it took reference from "as the god will" and since you talked about it so i thought people should know.
i watched "as the god will" few years back and i can't rmb much about it. all i know is that the whole thing was really weird to me. 🤔
if i remembered correctly, there isn't even an introduction of it being a survival game to the characters. some weird creatures just popped up in their school, the students were all confused and didn't know what to do. almost half of the shows were just them running away. and the entire show is pretty messy(?) too. it's almost like a bunch of unrelated scenes put together. (maybe i'm just bad at connecting them)
anyway, i just want to write this down and let you know what i think about it. i'm sorry if my previous ask makes it sound like i'm saying squid game was a copy. it's not, and i apologize. 😔

if you have time, you can try out this anime called the ones within (a.k.a naka no hito genome). it's also a survival game type of anime, except there is no gore or character death so far (does that even count as a survival game lol).
it's about a group of online game streamers being brought into a mysterious island and they're forced to play games organized for them. there are cameras everywhere on the island (almost like danganronpa lol) so their activities are broadcast to the world (tho its vaguely mentioned only). and they have view counts too! their ultimate goal is to reach 100 million views in order to leave the island.
okay, that's all i wanna say haha. sorry for the rambling. and no pressure in aswering this! i just don't feel like writing this on my blog bc i'm not good with analysis so just wanna share my thoughts here. hope you have a nice day <33

I don't think you were rude and I was not offended by it. I just didn't know how to answer it because I prefer to remain neutral whenever it consists of a famous person's allegations. So I went with what I always do - analyse it.
And even if it was a copy, I still enjoyed it as a show. So don't worry :)
Yeah, I think the anime you suggested to me counts as a survival genre, especially when it's a dangerous type of games. I also had seen the anime Danganronpa and actually bought the 3-part games. But there was a problem with my navigation to exit so I end up not playing it. I just watched the playthrough of Part 1 by this Youtube Gamer Kubzscouts (Jay).
I definitely would have enjoyed playing the detective game. My childhood anime was actually Detective Conan (if you know this long-term series). It's not popular internationally, but it's BIG in Japan. It is also popular in Southeast Asia back in the 2000s, but I guess it's not popular everywhere else because they don't really have a successful English dub. They did have "Case Closed" which is the English dub version but I think it's poorly done and they only dubbed the first 130 episodes out of 1000+ episodes. This is because in my opinion, the show had lots of puzzles, including Japanese wordplays and linguistics. It's a show where there is often a secondary subtitle to explain to non-Japanese speakers the linguistic joke or puzzle.
Anyway, that show was the one that really trained me to look for clues. I think I'd definitely want to solve a mystery case like playing a Danganronpa game.
And it's okay if you ramble. I really enjoy answering Asks. HxH is my favourite anime but it will be nice to talk about other anime too, although my knowledge on the other anime might be limited.

I rarely post on main but you'll see me do something once every blue moon haha Ooh what do you like cooking most then? I make cheesecake myself at home from yogurt instead of cream cheese and it's very light so I can easily eat a slice ^^ I don't like sweets much so it's rare I even have something that isn't on the more bitter or tart side (even then very picky hehe) - ❄️
Quiche is definitely something you should try; it's basically a savoury pie! Stews are awesome too; if you're a person who likes deep flavours but not in watery form (e.g soups, broths) like me, then that's the perfect option as it's consistency is gravy-like and packs a punch Lol they put zero effort in even trying to know their way around the kitchen so when they're forced to do so in the future, they'll definitely get the hang of it :) - ❄️
haha I'm the kind of person who disappears for days/weeks and then mass produces gifs when they return (as explicitly told by my friend) but I quite enjoy it (*^w^) I think giffing for 1-2 groups specifically made me use so much time that I rarely gif others unless I have the time to; but I do wanna try to gif exo more... I gif txt and stray kids! (and some others on and off on my multi blog) - ❄️

long story short, i want to thank you for your inclusivity with the carrds you have displayed in your pinned post. it's not something i publicize here, but i'm jewish; i really appreciate the fact that you have a carrd on antisemitism bc unfortunately, it seems to be one of the few things that is consistently overlooked and underrepresented when people talk 'politics' on this site. but even more so, i appreciate you also having a carrd about palestinian support. while i do not necessarily agree with either side of that conflict fully, i can't tell you how much it means to see that you do not see those two things (meaning...being anti-antisemitism and pro-palestine) as being mutually exclusive bc there are far too many people that do (at least, your including both carrds makes me assume you don't see them that way lol). it really means a lot, and it helps me feel seen, even if no one is really 'seeing' lol.
in the current age of like... internet and social media, where people can regularly spread and share information on issues important to them, it warms my heart to see someone caring enough to include it, if that makes sense.

i wish i can take credit for the post but it isn’t mine. i pinned it because i find all those carrds crucial and it doesn’t feel like much, but i hope that people who visit my blog also take the time to read up and educate themselves on the issues at hand. i totally understand what you mean when you say it warms your heart. you are seen and you are heard, especially by me. my blog is a safe space! combatting antisemitism is important to me because although i’m not jewish, i can empathize with those who have experienced that hostility and prejudice on the basis of religion (through islamophobia, two different struggles but perpetuated by the same bigots, at least in my experience!!) nothing breaks my heart more than when people leave out jewish people in their activism because i abhor when people leave out muslim people!! you can’t accomplish much of anything by cherry picking if that makes sense. if you need anything ever feel free to reach out in my asks or my messages, i’m sending you hugs rn 🥺🫂
