Thoughts While Watching Gilmore Girls, 2/18 “Back In The Saddle” (more glorious filler) Part 1
The episode begins with an uninteresting Friday Night Dinner intro that has nothing worth writing about, except we see Richard again, and I feel like I haven't seen Richard in a really long time. (This is a Richard-centric episode, which is fine with me).
Tumblr media
They fixed the Tomatos Sign? Say it ain't so!
Tumblr media
Oh, the other chalkboard.
I recommend you all look up a woman named Valerie Campbell on TikTok or Instagram. She worked on the show and shares a lot of behind the scenes stories. I can’t seem to find this specific post again, but if you care to dig around yourself, she had a little story about the crew member that actually designed this sign.
I don't remember it being a particularly fascinating story, but if you want to hear the story of Sign Guy, go on and find Valerie.
Tumblr media
Thinking about the time Rory took a slice of unbuttered unsyruped French toast on the run like it was a god damn pop tart. You weirdo.
Tumblr media
LG: Look at the handwriting on that sign. It's so precise. So determined. It's focused Luke. RG: That's Jess' handwriting.
Tumblr media
That tone of suspicion again. Sigh.
Tumblr media
You know what, I won't pile on Lorelai too much for this comment, because it was lighthearted and not dripping with passive aggressive sauce for once. You win this round, Gilmore.
Couldn’t have killed you to throw in a “that’s so thoughtful/cute/sweet” or something though.
I love how blasé they are about their notions that either Luke or Jess could have such gorgeous handwriting. Neither of them are marveling even one bit over that skilled graphic design. Sad lack of shock, wonder, and awe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lorelai is very much NOT Team Jess and is actively trying to destroy this adorable friendship. Being a Lorelai and Literati supporter at the same time seems like a paradox of sorts? But hey, according to Tumblr, I'm just a big ol woman hater for saying Lorelai is evil. Continue, Lorelai. Lay some old fashioned Dean Lust on us. It's what the people want.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rory looks thrilled to see ButtZilla.
Tumblr media
Drop yourself off a bridge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lorelai: Please please please eat with us Dean!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So much said with so little in her tone of voice alone
Tumblr media
From left to right: Wetting her pants in excitement to have Dean for breakfast/ thinking about covering his naked body in maple syrup; a man wondering if this will be one of the rarest of days when the Gilmores pay for their food; Hello Darkness My Old Friend; and Buttzilla.
Tumblr media
I've got something you can eat, Dum Dum.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JOKES ON YOU BUTTZILLA! JESS WROTE THE SIGN! YOU'RE GONNA EAT AN OMELET THAT YOU ORDERED OFF A SIGN THAT JESS WROTE!
Tumblr media
Mind your own business, AssButt. Your necklace is stupid and so are you. Your mother doesn't love you.
Tumblr media
"Next time I get you all alone I'm going to give you SUCH a spanking, young man."
Tumblr media
Poor put-upon Brad. One day, Brad will rule the world, and the peasants will be sorry. Our usual Chilton crew that consists of Rory, Paris, Madelyn, Louise, Brad, and one rando (some 30 Year Old Archie looking dude) are gearing up for a Business Fair. They have to invent a product appealing to high schoolers. Rory is the CEO, and they have an imaginary 1 million dollars to imaginary market/produce/and distribute it. They also have to find a responsible adult to be their "business advisor". Richard will eventually join them and muck things up. Everyone else's negligent dads are too busy working and Rory's deadbeat dad Crusty is off somewhere trying to impregnate some chick named Sherry and wouldn't know how to Business if his life depended on it, so Richard it is. But this is the 2000s, so surely someone's mother could also have business experience?
Tumblr media
Paris and Madelyn suggest Rory's mom, seeing as she "Runs a hotel", but the girls wouldn't know that Rory's mom regularly leaves her shift in the middle of the day to do things like look at coffins. Not a good role model. Joyous filler nonsense.
Tumblr media
Rory: LOL yeah I guess. Let’s have someone look at Lorelai’s “books”. The Independence Inn and Stars Hollow are both an accountant's wet dream.
Tumblr media
I neglected to include Brad in my poll of Gilmore Girls characters whose quietly bubbling anger will one day no longer stay contained until they snap and murder somebody.
Tumblr media
She's definitely not, but Paris threatens her so Rory promises to ask her anyway.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The people of Stars Hollow are incredibly angry and violent. Don't let their sweet faces fool you. Try to take away their coffee or twinkle lights, or fuck up their wedding invitations, and you'll be sorry.

a petty wife (original form!sukuna x reader)
WARNINGS: Murder, baby trapping (not Y/N’s doing), mistaken adultery
Ryomen Sukuna was a deviant who conquered a quarter of old Japan, he was the demon feared by the Emperor himself, and he was the master of mortals and curses alike. He was renowned throughout the land as someone who took pleasure in punishing the pettiest offense–from a soldier daring to speak out of turn to a lowly maid meeting his eyes without permission. Cruelty unbridled, the man couldn’t even be considered human anymore.
This monster who had over a thousand soldiers at his beck and call, who had hundreds of powerful slaves licking at his feet, was currently tailing his wife with a branch blooming with fresh cherry blossoms. A train of pink petals fell behind him with each antsy step forward.
The servants-in-training watched from a distance.
Seeing their seven-foot-tall master seemingly struggling to keep up with the mistress of the house was a hilarious sight to behold, but they were more baffled than anything else.
 “What’s happening?” A newbie asked.
The eldest in the group answered as they resumed sweeping the ground, “It seems that the madam is upset with Lord Sukuna.”
It wasn’t that he couldn’t keep up with your steps, it’s that he knew better than to walk next to you when you couldn’t even bring yourself to meet his eyes, so Ryomen had no choice but to slow down his steps as he did his best to coax you to speak with him–
“How many times must I plead innocent?”
“...”
“Because I am innocent.”
“...”
“Love?”
“...”
“What do you want me to do? Do you want me to kill her?”
You flung your body around, accusing finger pointing at him. “This isn’t about her and you know it.”
“My love–”
“Hmph!” With a huff, you crossed your arms and spun around. Of course, you knew he was innocent. If there was one thing you knew for sure in this life was that your husband, king and conqueror, would cut down an entire mountain to build you a palace before he would betray your trust. But you despised how many times different women tried to seduce him–and the gall of others to claim that they succeeded! Inconceivable.
And he seemed to revel in your shock. Every. Single. Time.
Unforgivable!
He sighed and two free hands carefully reached for your shoulders. “Darling,” he cooed, rubbing circles over your clothed skin. “What can I do to make you feel better?”
“...Stop being charming.”
He let out a ha! but quickly cleared his throat, withering under your glare.
“I’ll do my best.” He nodded.
You sighed and finally unlocked your arms.
Smiling, Ryomen tenderly turned you around before lowering the sakura branch to you. “Do you still want me to kill her?”
Without saying a word, you plucked a single blossom from the branch before giving him a soft smile.
He grinned and leaned down to press his lips on yours.
extra
“Is this proof enough for you?” Ryomen asked, pulling back his claws.
You really didn’t need confirmation, and yet there was a joy in seeing the wench unmoving on the floor as you peered down into her torn torso. Despite her ridiculous claims, her abdomen was empty of life. Not that it would have mattered.
With you as an exception, Ryo-chan wasn’t fond of anything or anyone. He was an equal-opportunity hater who did not discriminate in his hurting. On the other hand, while you didn’t hate children, you weren’t particularly attached to them either. Whatever was inside her would’ve been gotten rid of immediately by your husband for fear of pissing you off.
You sighed and went to embrace him, who raised two of his arms, careful not to get any blood on your new kimono. “Yes, yes, I’m sorry for doubting you. Kiss?”
He leaned down to meet your puckered mouth before embracing you with his lower set of arms. You glanced over his broad back and at the body on the ground.
Smiling quietly, you wondered where to hang this one.
A/N: It feels weird addressing Sukuna as Ryomen, but it would be a lot more peculiar for the love of his life to call him by any other name.
Also, I feel like for Y/N to be in a “healthy” relationship with the likes of Ryomen Sukuna, they’d have to have a rather abnormal sense of right and wrong. Forget black and white, we’re talking blue and orange morality here.

Gayest Persona Character, Round 1
Tumblr media
Ok, look. This tournament is for fun. I am trying to set up a stupid joke, and I am not afraid to post this with propaganda from the get go to try and make that happen.
Youichi is a con man, but a con man that is a womanizer and only seeks to steal money from women. He makes a wish to Joker to be irresistible to all women. He looks like a sleazebag (according to the game he is 'handsome' but who tf---). There's no way I can see this man as anything but straight.
Look, ok, Shido is also a douchebag. But he's a douchebag to everyone. With his attitude? Man is probably closeted as hell. I would not be surprised if he was bi or something. Equal opportunity hater.

Honestly, Neil did let us all down with that terrible word choice ( he is an acclaimed author after all, you'd think he'd known better) but it didn't look like any bad intention on his behalf to me, considering he has always shown love and appreciation towards David. it's a bit unfair to put him in the same bunch as Crowley/David haters whom I don't even consider part of the fandom given that they clearly just watched a couple of TikTok edits and are now forming strong "opinions". On the other hand, I strongly agree that it'd be a horrific mayhem if we had both of them nominated bc then none of them had a winning chance and it'd just create a conflict for haters to bask in. I think all of us can agree that if it was gonna be one of them, David was the right option and that doesn't mean Michael wasn't as equally amazing. I just think that there are bad seeds in any fandom and we just have to come to peace with that. let's face it, it'd get real ugly in DT's exclusive fandoms if Michael was nominated and David straight up ignored again after all of his valuable work, dare i say even more than now for obvious reasons.
I don’t think people are putting him in the same category as haters, merely noting that his bad choice of words made haters happy, however I don’t think he intended it. I mean - this is HIS Crowley. I don’t see why he’d want anyone to be unhappy for David/Crowley.
He said he’s “perplexed” that it’s not both of them because he can’t imagine David without Michael and vice versa, not that he’s perplexed that David was nominated.
I don’t think you’re wrong here anon saying that these “fans” didn’t even watch the show just made their strong views on TikTok videos and fanfics because at least this would make some sense because I’m baffled with what happened.
Yep if both were nominated neither would win. With one nominated, and I believe David did deserve it over Michael in this instance, because his story created opportunity to show more and he used it completely, David actually has a good chance to win. And I am crossing my fingers that he does. It would be extra special if he won for Crowley.
I feel like because it became such a thing to cut David’s wings and because he doesn’t really stand up for himself, that people find it too easy to go after him.
He deserves better.

a quick retrospective on sabrina's career 💭
hiya! some of you might have seen this video already but if not, i highly recommend it:
youtube
two pop culture commentators, Nicky and Coco talk about the slow rise of sabrina's career. they discuss how sabrina's gotten to where she is now, and why a "slow burn," is often times better than an overnight rise to fame.
i wanted to share this video as a jumping off point. i am so tired of certain people invalidating sabrina's career. i want to clear up some misconceptions and ignorant talking points that people make up regarding sabrina's career. more under the cut. ♥️
she is not an "industry plant."
industry plant definition: a pejorative used to describe musicians who ostensibly become popular through nepotism, inheritance, wealth, or their connections in the music industry rather than on their own merits.
list of bullshit haters say:
"sabrina is only famous because of the driver's license drama.."
personally, i cannot stand when people say this. it completely disregards the fact that this drama was very harmful to sabrina's mental and emotional health, as well as her career. you can say that any press is good press but there are people who will forever diminish her as just "the blonde girl." people need to stop acting as if sabrina was done a favor. a favor does not include death threats and a lifetimes worth of hate that she still receives to this day.
2. "taylor (swift) only chose her as an opening act to get back at olivia (rodrigo)" / "sabrina is only opening for taylor because she needed the help and olivia didn't."
pettiness is available to all ages. however, taylor alison swift is a 34 year old woman. she is a well-experienced musician who takes many younger people in the industry under her wing. this statement recycles the bullshit narratives that the media has created about taylor, that she's vindictive and immature. this statement also mischaracterizes sabrina and taylor's relationship. it is not new.
taylor has mentioned sabrina as far back as jingle ball 2017! in 2020, sabrina was sent a cardigan during the release of folklore. later taylor would go on to send sabrina red tv merch. the narrative that taylor suddenly befriended sabrina after cutting ties with olivia rodrigo some point after 2021 is absolute... nonsense (sorry). *and i'm pretty sure there is not even any real conflict between taylor and olivia but i don't follow olivia and ultimately don't care.
so why is sabrina suddenly blowing up? because nonsense is indeed a pop hit! sabrina having a new nonsense outro every night of the emails i can't send tour blew up on tiktok. olivia rodrigo had nothing to do with that. taylor had nothing to do with that. that was all sabrina. feather was a great follow up.
sabrina has been in the music/entertainment industry for ten years now. before emails i can't send, sabrina had already released 4 albums and headlined 3 tours. this means that she had already grown a strong base of fans that has been with her for years, long before emails. has taylor given her a major platform? has she become a mentor to sabrina? absolutely. sabrina has loved her for as long as a lot of us have - since we were young children. that doesn't mean she or anyone else should get credit for the years of hard work that sabrina has put in.
charting does not equal talent. people love to mock sabrina's career by saying she is unable to chart. there are an endless amount of talented musicians that don't get mass radio play or win awards because their record label - if they even have one, is lacking. for years, carpenters railed against hollywood records and wished for sabrina to move to a different label. finally in january of 2021, sabrina signed to island records. so far, they have given her more opportunities. sabrina released a major album with emails i can't send, she has been opening for taylor swift, shes like.. the coolest girl ever. people need to stop trying to invalidate her career and talent.
i know i may be “preaching to the choir” but ty for reading! 。・゚゚・ again, i recommend the lovely video above.

The question of man-hating among radical women seems like the most difficult one to get up a serious discussion on. And you really feel crummy dragging it all out again only to encounter the raised eyebrows, the surprised expressions, voices vibrating with moral indignation; or worse yet, some cute joke and a round of hearty chuckles completely destroying your point. But hold on! Before you get indignant, before you make your little joke, allow me to try to convince you that man-hating is a valid and vital issue.
Hatred is certainly an observable human fact. And since women are human—not a link between man and the ape—not some innocuous, shadowy, fairy-tale version of the Man— since this is so, hatred, hostility and resentment probably exist somehow in us. And, further, since many of us have already come to the conclusions of feminism—that equal status and opportunity with the male is necessary to our full human existence the realization of our past and continued subjugation has most likely aroused in us some sentiment resembling hatred. Now, each of us, in denying our hatred and explaining our astonishing magnanimity, relies upon some common argument. Among the most common:
Argumentum ad Sexus:
"Men and women are made for each other sexually. I am perfectly 'normal.' Therefore, I must certainly love men."
Answer:
Many men engage in sexual intercourse, often extensively, even marry, while yet hating women. These men are called misogynists. Now, there is no shame in being a misogynist. It is a perfectly respectable attitude. Our whole society (including too many of the women in it) hates women. Perhaps we need a Latin or Greek derivative in place of "man-hating" to make the perfect symmetry of the two attitudes more obvious.
Argumentum ad Superioritus:
"Hate man? No! Definitely not! We must understand them; they depend upon us to show them how to love."
Answer:
This argument is based upon the "Natural Superiority of Women." We are congenitally incapable of hatred. It is our mysterious XX chromosomal structure. Failing to "understand" the man is a perversion of our second nature. Brushing aside forever the utterly unprovable fiction of our second nature, and speaking purely from personal experience, it would seem, on the whole, that people do not react to oppression with Love. I mean the poison seeps out somehow. Sometimes aggressively on those in an even meaner position; sometimes taking the form of an all-pervading and impotent resentment—a petty and spiteful attitude. When women take their hatred out on others, those others are likely to be other women, particularly their own daughters. In doing so they reconcile their own impulse for an object of hate with the demands of an authoritarian system which requires all hate and spite to be directed downward, while respect and "understanding" are reserved for higher-ups, thus keeping nearly everyone supplied with pre-ordained and relatively powerless victims.
Anyway, all arguments which tend to suppress the recognition of man-hating in our midst are reducible to this: fear. Man-hating is a subversive and therefore dangerous sentiment. Men, who control definition, have made of it a disgusting perversion. We have heen unable to get out from under their definition. I've been at meetings where women actually left because they thought that "man-haters" were on the loose. One woman talked to me in awe and disgust about a woman who she felt had made an anti-male statement at a meeting. It has been the cause of a deep rift within Women's Liberation. It is a vital issue because it involves ultimately the way we feel about ourselves, and how far we are willing to go in our own behalf.
Hatred and Man-Hating
There is no dearth of hatred in the world, I agree. But the thing is, people keep on hating the wrong people. For instance, a lot of people apparently believe that we must fight to preserve our freedom against little Vietnam. Whites, just now stepping out of poverty themselves, arm against the "menace" of the Poor and the Blacks. Upper-middle-class radical snobs despise the class of Whites just beneath them. And men hate women. Our hatred is such a shoddy and confused emotion. We indulge in the most circuitous and illogical prejudices. We have never given the idea of hating someone who has actually done something hateful to us a chance. Oh, I know we ought to hate the sin and love the sinner. But too often we end up loving the sinner and hating his victim (as when one woman seeing another put down, or hearing about her unhappy affair, calls it masochism and that's the end of it ).
If hatred exists (and we know it does), let it be of a robust variety. If it is a choice between woman-hating and man-hating, let it be the latter. Let us resolve to respond immediately and directly to injury instead of taking it all out on a more likely victim. It is a difficult stance because it requires a fidelity to what is real in us and neither innocuous nor attractive to oppressors, to that part of you which turned you on to feminism in the first place. That part which is really human and cannot submit.

i have to stars rant i fear. defensive musing (read: complaints) below.
there are many things to be said abt the stars defense. but one of the ones that fucking Gets Me the most is like.... okay yes ryan suter hater 4 life whatever. but it doesnt even make SENSE to have him and miro on the same pairing. like it just makes 0 fucking sense to me. no i dont think nils is the best player he could be and yes i wish they had been able to just send him to the ahl so he could develop like harls got the chance to. HOWEVER. hes not an objectively abysmal player compared to suter. yes my ideal pairing with this current godforsaken selection is miro-harls because. well. i have eyes and access to moneypuck dot com.
Tumblr media
but i also acknowledge that leaves one of the pairings FUCKED with the remaining options. i would not rely on suter to carry nils or vice versa. also it still leaves miro on his offside. so i actually dont want them consistently paired at all if theres better options!
which there is.
if nils and suter are equally struggling. why cant we just give nils the top line minutes. we've seen suter play stronger when his icetime is limited (which makes sense! hes fucking old!!) and i genuinely think more ice time will be so beneficial to nils' development, since they can't just send him down. AND if nils is making mistakes they can be less detrimental with miro there, and miro will be on his strong side. for the first time in fucking years. i know, i know he can handle playing on the right side. but think about how fucking crazy he would be if he finally got a chance on his left.
as pdb-and-current-coaches-in-general positive as i am i also acknowledge that the way they use miro is fucking abysmal. i talk abt it. a lot. i hate that theyre wasting some really good years from him by just making him cover for the defensive mistakes of everyone around him. every year it's "well why isnt our miro a norris contender? this is offensive!" from the org while they're actively doing everything to stop his opportunities to be one. other than ice time. which is harmful in its own unique way!
basically. please purchase a shiny new rhd and put nils with miro in the meantime. xoxoxo

I’m telling y’all now, I am a Penelope Featherington hater. Don’t hit me with that I’m fatphobic shit cuz it’s the fact that she’s a bad person who is actively ruining lives. Marina could’ve been happy with Colin and she did what she thought she had to for herself and her child (now children). Kate got dog piled by everyone her entire life for her heritage and “not having the right status”. Eloise is literally her best friend and, for her faults, was never actively malicious towards Penelope. Yet a bitch was out here saying fuck y’all lemme just expose all the things you wanna hide cuz my family ain’t shit and I just want homeboy to notice me after decades. Disrespectfully, fuck you. Also my ass hasn’t forgiven Daphne for assaulting Simon so again this hatred is equal opportunity.
The worst part is that I genuinely could’ve liked Penelope. I love a good villain arc for a mistreated character. I’m usually all for turning on the people who wronged you, but that’s not what she’s doing. If homegirl had been like just sharing petty gossip or doing a Regency what not to wear and then progressively escalated, then I would be on her side. However, that progression would also have to coincide with two things, a demand from her audience and her personal life tanking. If the audience starts getting bored of her content then Penelope would want to find something to regain their interest and that could be her slowly getting into the realm of more salacious gossip. Heck it could’ve even been a direct consequence of Daphne and Violet spreading the information about Nigel Berbrooke. Penelope wanted to help the Bridgertons and created a beast that she could not control (if we were going for more sympathy). As for the personal life, she has even more motivation to throw herself into Lady Whistledown if that all goes to hell organically. LW would be her only source of validation and her only refuge from the reality where she is undesirable and unwanted by everyone.
I don’t know how easy it would be to translate that to screen and there’s all kinds of constraints, but the writers cannot have their cake and eat it too. There comes a point where a sympathetic villain (because she is the main villain of the series) is no longer sympathetic, and THATS OKAY. That point is different for every viewer, however, most can agree that at some point the person crossed the line from downtrodden underdog to villain. My issue with Penelope is that she basically started the series in villain territory. It would be one thing if the series peeled back the layers of why BEFORE having her ruin lives, thus greying the territory. They didn’t though, they had her literally endanger the ONLY young black woman on the show and then said “oh but she’s insecure 🥺🥺🥺”. Cry me a river, build me a bridge, and do a running somersault off of it.

the thing is. there is so much fan/fandom overlap with hate crimes md and spn. and ppl can criticize spn all they want, but on the whole, it's a less offensive show vs hate crimes md excepting a handful of episodes. and tbh most of the truly reprehensible eps in spn come across as just absolutely no thoughts head empty entitlement vs active malice. it's not excusable that the spn writers have made some racist as hell episodes and the treatment of women, esp early on, is very gross. but it's incidental. (except for gamble who is very much White Woman Who Crosses the Street When She Sees a Black Man)
on the other hand, hate crimes md is knowingly and explicitly playing in the same toxic "i am so edgy and not a bigot, just an equal opportunity hater uwu" realm that (at the most extreme end) south park exists in.

I am that last anon and I wasn’t being shady towards her? I am sorry you felt that way but I wasn’t blaming her - only those deranged anons?
Its a fact that she doesnt comment on his social media while he likes her posts - and that’s absolutely fine! She is not obligated to like/comment but nor is he. I was calling out the double standards of the haters, not blaming her for anything!
And again - would you expect Simone to name drop Jonny in an interview about her experiences as a WOC? No! So I was yet again calling out the double standards of expecting Jonny to name drop her in his interview about his experiences as a gay man. That’s literally it.
I wasn’t putting the blame on Simone AT ALL. This is not her fault, but of the weird anons who created a ruckus yesterday.
And this is about homophobia, not babying a white man because we felt like it. I am a queer desi - a living breathing Indian woman who is also queer - so I care about them both EQUALLY.
I hope that clears it up.
All I’m saying some of you were too quick to be shady towards Simone to “defend” Jonny. You can defend him without dragging her into this mess. And the way some people were jumping at the opportunity to dismiss what was done to Simone during season two promotion and production as “crazy conspiracy theories” is a familiar pattern most wocs in Hollywood go through. Simone was not treated fairly by some of her cast members of Bridgerton, and I’m not scared to say Jonathan Bailey is included. That doesn’t mean he should be attacked for who he is or that what happens on Instagram is a reflection of real life because at the end of the day it’s not our business. All this to say it’s not surprising some of you are quick to baby a white man and show some internal resentment towards Simone.
And the people getting butthurt about this need to cry about it. There is a difference between saying “I don’t personally like the way he behaved towards Simone last year” and feeling entitled about what he does with his social media and what he says in his interviews to the point of harassing a blogger with anon messages. It’s just so pathetic the way y’all are quick to drag Simone and say “WhAT aBoUt SiMoNe NeVeR liKiNg hIs PoStS!” the urge to baby the white man who needs no protection and be shady towards Simone is not it 🫥
