He hopped up to the portal with Ani and Rot.

Rot smiled and patted his head. "Good job."

Ani looked back and huffed. "Soldiers will be deployed to take care of the rest of them."

Dredge looked up as they portaled home. "How DO your soldiers work, Mrs. Ani?"

"Mindless things that do as I say, made from wrongdoers."

"Ohh."

Ani and Rot both smiled, and Ani piped up.

"You did very well as a volunteer today."

Dredge sat up, eyes widening.

"We are both proud of you for carrying out justice."

Dredges eyes watered up a bit, Ani and Rot smiling and going to embrace him. He shed tears before becoming more professional.

"T...thank you, Mrs. Ani and Mr. Rot."

Ani smiled and leaned in to kiss his cheek, making him cry a bit more. "Of course, mi ayudante."

They both let go and made a portal home.

"Go home, go be with Royce and Kin. They're going to bed, and need you."

"O..ok.." Dredge sniffed a bit. Ani pressed her forehead to his, as a cat would, as she is feline-based, and wiped his tears away. Rot and Ani knew it was from their approval making an impact on him.

"Te amo mi chico." Ani kissed his head.

"Go home."

Dredge hugged Ani a bit before going through a portal home.

damian's pace abruptly halts outside the ajar door, locking eyes with his elder adopted brother. his adopted brother that he shares a particularly bloody, complicated history with. phantom whispers of his brother's bloodcurdling scream plays across his eardrums in time to the vision of his broken body on the floor of the batcave.

i will inherit everything.

an ingrained superiority complex tells him to dig his heels in at the light jab, the implication of his ineptitude with computer games ( a stubborn thought that certainly has nothing to do with the memory playing back between his ears ). though he does not often dally in games as they are childish -- those that are designed specifically to frustrate the user, these catch his attention.

in particular, one new game caught his eye. he did not ask for it, knowing he would simply be called the "spoiled brat" that they have all come to know him as. he was raised among assassins as a prince: their prince; how can he ask for something without the assumption of his wretched ungratefulness?

maybe a please and a thank you.

regardless, a frown begins to tug at his muscles. he opens his mouth to snap back a remark then stops, lips parted in thought. this is an attempt, an olive branch of brotherhood.

damian has forged his own path in the family. they are long past the years of snarling and snapping until one threw a painting off the wall at the other ( or was only damian guilty of that during an outburst? ). he no longer believes timothy drake-wayne to be his replacement; no matter the blood between them, they have undoubtedly bled together.

he closes his mouth again. then once more in preponderance, open: ❝ i will be online in a moment, i must let titus out first. ❞
