🤢
ETA Someone on Facebook pointed out to me that this dynamic is confirmed further when Sir talks about hating Bella for breaking up their family and ruining everything by stealing Gabi away. She likened it to when an already dysfunctional marriage finally collapses once the baby comes, but instead of admitting fault, the father blames the child.

I genuinely don't understand how some of y'all are seeing this . . . .
. . . and still wanting this instead!!
I love a good dark romance but this doesn't seem romantic to me just Creepy As Fuck

I thought it was so interesting that there's an implication that Hugh (I'm not calling him Sir--he's not my Daddy Dom) knew Gabi before he took her. It kind of feeds into my theory that he took her with this idea that she'd become his mentee. Almost like a daughter figure.
OH WAIT AND ALSO we learned that Gabi's father was pretty neglectful when it came to her school life and that she held a little bit of resentment towards him for it.
Now I'm wondering if Hugh was one of her high school teachers who thought he could "SAVE" this brilliant, sharp student from a life of presumed neglect 👀
It's also fascinating to see how much he changed, personality wise, in the 20 years since Gabi's escape. He's a lot less....theatrical...in the present day. He seems more grounded in reality and not in whatever weird fantasy world he was in where they could run away to Paris and she'd just happily go along with it.
Side note: Him saying "I'm not the monster you think I am" was so funny to me. Because, good sistren, you kidnapped two girls (that we know of). Like you think because you're not a pedo you're not a terrible person? TUH.

Sir is so sick and twisted, I love it. Such an interesting villain. But my girl Gabi always comes out on top, god I love her.
