oh my god THANK YOU for asking me this one.
i think he absolutely has a predator/prey kink but he doesn't quite realize it. a little slow on the uptake ya know ://
i think it starts super innocent, ya know? you run a bit away from him and he chases after you and grabs you around the waist. you're all giggly and it's sweet. i think he likes to rough house a little, too, never to hurt you of course! but he's playful and he likes to roll around with you. he likes to chase a little! i think he's a really physical guy!
a bit like a puppy, almost. sort of. until it's not quite like that anymore.
i think something happens where it like...dawns on him. maybe you really take off running sometime? maybe you're both...idk, training as sorcerers? and you run, like genuinely, away from him and he sees your form and it's just– it's like sheer instinct that compels him to tear off after you. he doesn't even fully think about it.
and he's faster, ya know? so much faster. and stronger. it's not really a competition but you're clever! and you make him chase and he just. his mind lights up.
and when he gets his hands on you, he's almost startled by how turned on he is? how badly he suddenly needs you? kinda crashes into a rough kiss, almost desperate? and it just clicks in his head, with his heart still pounding and how you're unable to catch your breath that he wants to do that again. and again. and he wants to–
it feels awful for him to admit initially, but he wants to hunt you. he wants to chase you and catch you. and wrestle with you.

What had antagonized her, driven her to stand against him as if he were the villain betraying the very kingdom he had built?

And he’d promised from the beginning he’d do anything and everything it took to protect it. No questions asked. No holds barred. Magnifico used that book because he had to. The people hadn’t given him a choice; if he had let them—

But nevertheless, here he was. Dethroned. Defamed. He’d almost convinced himself his queen planned on letting him rot eternally, but when he heard the creak of a door on that fateful day—could’ve been morning, afternoon… or perhaps his darling had decided to pay an evening visit when all had quieted down—Magnifico hadn’t needed to see her to know. Her footsteps were a recognizable rhythm, soft and elegant, down the steps. Somehow, the echo seemed to penetrate his magical prison just as well, and in some way, each beat trembled down to his core.
When she stood outside the bars, however, peered in at that loathsome little mirror on the wall, he was ready to face her. That is, he’d convinced the faint flutter in his chest that he was.
“You’ve placed a magical mirror in which I am already very securely contained—trust me, I’ve had plenty of time to determine that’s the case—within a literal prison cell,” he observed blandly, head cocking while a bitter smile tugged on his lips. “Is that not just a touch excessive, my dear?”

This is just a reminder that I do not allow any reuploads of Art Heist, Baby! onto any other platform. Art Heist, Baby! lives on ao3 and ao3 exclusively.
Really upset to find out that people who have messaged me privately on here asking to upload Art Heist onto other platforms just went ahead and did it anyway when I politely asked for them to keep my work on ao3. Even after I explained why I wasn't comfortable uploading it to other sites.
I could go into the details of how sites like wattpad are for-profit companies and are naturally inclined to favor whatever makes them the most amount of money even if it's at the expense of writers and I could go into my own issues with those sites capitalising off of writer's creative output/hobby etc. etc. (not to mention the reuploads were not tagged and didn't include chapter warnings at all 🤠) but the point is I shouldn't have to.
You (in a very general but also pejorative sense) should respect my decision to keep Art Heist on ao3. I realize that uploading something to the internet means that I put myself at risk of losing control of my content but come on, y'all. It's in my pinned post and I've told people multiple times to not reupload my fic anywhere else. It's my fic, and my writing, and I don't think it's too much to ask to keep it to ao3.
Anyway, I've already reached out to the people who have posted my fic elsewhere and corrected the issue, but I thought I would go ahead and make it abundantly clear that Art Heist, Baby! is for ao3 and ao3 only in the hopes that this issue doesn't arise again!

in romcoms today you get like this chaste kiss at the end while they sorta get together
in Notting Hill (1999), the leads kiss, have a little thing without fucking and then she leaves for her douchey boyfriend, meet up again way later and have a wonderful time and FUCK, then there's an issue and she leaves again, and then Hugh Grant walks through several seasons while Ain't No Sunshine plays, then there's another little misunderstanding moment + a grovel from her, THEN a RACE FOR YOUR LOVE bit
and not once was I bored, I was iNVIGORATED throughout it
#tbh an issue i think we have w romcoms today is that ppl go 'oh i want a comfort movie'#and they and subsequently producers think this means low-conflict and boring#and it's like....... notting hill is one of the chillest movies ever made lmao#but it's also p high-conflict#both leads do random little fuckups#but the coziness is not lost#also they have an actual relationship off and on through the movie#so it's not like this thing where you're like well i hope for the best for them#they work out legit romantic issues throughout#versus just REALIZING THINGS at the end#anyway this isn't even my favorite movie but whatever#i just think it's an interesting contrast
