(also on ao3)
This sucks.
It’s the only way Eddie can articulate what he’s feeling. It’s bigger than that, of course — the worry and dread rolling around under his skin are complex and ceaseless, a whisper of guilt is pulling at the back of his teeth, and every worst case scenario he can think of keeps playing and rewinding over and over and over again.
There’s a lot going on in his head, but it all boils down to this:
The hand Eddie keeps squeezing is not squeezing back. They don’t know for sure when Buck will wake up. And it sucks.
He knows there’s nothing he could have done. He wasn’t in the car with Chimney, he wasn’t on the bike with Buck, and despite what Chris used to think when he was younger, he is not a superhero. But he still can’t help wishing some dormant powers had manifested in time for him to run a mile down the road at high speed and stop the drunk driver with the strength of his own two hands.
Even if that had happened, though, he knows his brain would have figured out a way to twist it around and make him culpable. He and Frank haven’t finished unpacking that box quite yet.
He yawns for probably the hundredth time since he got to the hospital and shifts in his chair, trying to get a little more comfortable. It’s late, and he’s exhausted and covered in sweat and soot, but he’s terrified of moving from his current spot. He doesn’t want Buck to be alone when he wakes up, wants to make sure he’s here if the doctor has any updates, wants to be here if, God forbid, Buck doesn’t—
He’s not moving.
But he wishes he could do something more than just wait.
He thinks of his Abuela — every day for the two weeks he was in the hospital after being shot, she came and sat in a chair just like he is, took out one of several rosaries she always had with her, and prayed quietly, fingers moving deftly over the beads, a conviction in her whispered voice like she knew for a fact that everything she was asking would get answered. He asked her later, out of curiosity, why she kept at it, even when he was unconscious, even when the doctors’ told her they didn’t fully know what would happen next.
She said, “It was the only thing I could do to help.”
Eddie certainly can’t help Buck in any other way right now, so maybe…
But can he?
He knows how to pray, the action of praying, of course he does. It’s ingrained in him, like asking St. Anthony to find his keys or crossing himself before long car rides. His issue was never with the act itself, but with the not knowing if the prayers are even being heard. It didn’t make sense to him to put all his eggs in the basket of someone who seemed to have bigger problems going on, who was supposedly speaking to his priest and the kids in his youth group, but never gave him even an inkling that his efforts weren’t for nothing.
It’s also been a minute — several thousand minutes, actually — since he’s even tried to pray. If God ever was listening, is he listening still? Does he remember what Eddie’s voice sounds like? Will all Eddie gets in response be a dial tone?
He’s not sure. He’ll probably never be sure. But he’s alone, and drowning in uncertainty, and he doesn’t know what else to do—
He opens a line. For God or Jesus or the Virgin Mary or whoever is manning the call center right now.
Maybe even for Buck himself.
“I don’t know if you can hear me,” he says, bowing his head and bringing Buck’s hand to his forehead. “But, I—” his voice cracks, and he lets it, embraces it, “I just need him back. I don’t think I can do this without him anymore, I don’t want to, and—” he tastes salt on his lips, embraces that too, “I can’t go through this again. Neither can my son. We barely survived the last time. Please, please, have mercy.”
Kyrie eleison.
Christe eleison.
Kyrie eleison.
All he gets in response is the continued beeping of the monitors next to Buck’s bed. No heavens opening up, no chorus of angels, and he’s still strung out on worry, the worst cases never pausing. He thought he’d get some relief, even for a second, but it’s all just dead air. There’s got to be a secret, Abuela certainly knows it, or maybe she doesn’t know anything and it’s all a big hoax—
He sits back in his chair and sighs. He doesn’t know what’s right or wrong right now, he barely knows his own name in the fog of his exhaustion. The only thing he does know is that he wants to sit here and hold Buck’s hand, so that is what he’s going to do. Maybe he’ll try again later. Maybe someone will actually pick up this time.
Until then, he’ll wait.
He finds another comfortable spot in his chair.
He squeezes Buck’s hand.
And Buck squeezes back.
And Eddie swears he hears angels start to sing.

Sunday Salon / Sunday Post - A Week in the Life of Dollycas – Weekly Rewind – New Arrivals
Tumblr media
The Sunday Salon is a Facebook group that has become an informal week in review gathering place for bloggers. It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature. You can also link up weekly on Readerbuzz. The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! The big news around here this past week was again weather-related. On Thursday we had some crazy thunderstorms but south of us, there was a “Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS)” tornado warning that was issued for the tornado that touched down near Evansville Wisconsin. That tornado tracked across Rock, Dane, and Jefferson Counties for 24.53 miles and packed wind speeds of 135 MPH, just 1 MPH shy of an EF3. The other tornado near Albany Wisconsin in Green County received a rating of a high-end EF1. This tornado was on the ground for 8.35 miles and had wind speeds of 110 MPH. These tornadoes are the first February tornadoes on record in Wisconsin’s state history. Daughter #2 lives down in that area but while they had warnings they just had high winds and thunderstorms. Grandson Thomas was hurt while playing at school back in December. Following directions from the doctors for the past weeks he was still favoring that leg. Thankfully his mother was vigilant knowing there was something still wrong even though Thomas didn't let it slow him down. Following an MRI earlier in the week we learned on Thursday he has multiple stress fractures in his foot and ankle and free fluid. He is now in a cast for 4 - 6 weeks. He is an active little boy so the next few weeks are going to be tough and he is upset he probably going to miss playing baseball this year. I am just glad that this was finally caught and that while it sucks to be in a cast now, I would hate to see what would have happened if had gone undiagnosed. A mother knows when there is something wrong with their child. On Friday I had an appointment with my primary doctor for a yearly Medicare Wellness Check. I am doing well but my blood sugar was a little high so we are adjusting my medication. I always joke that when I go see this guy he always tries to find something wrong. This time it was a nice visit talking about tests I could have in the future and that the past year I have felt better than I had in a while. Saturday we had a nice surprise. Daughter #1 came to visit so her dad could do her taxes and she brought Kaden and Remi along. The boys helped move some things around for us and Remi took down the polar bear inflatable outside. They did things in minutes that would have taken us all day. We are blessed that they don't live too far away for these quick visits. I just wish these boys wouldn't grow so fast. Every time I see them they seem to have grown several inches. The best thing was the great hugs they give that will keep me going until their next visit. This Nana loves those hugs!! Title: Unveiling the Power of Flexographic Printing: A Comprehensive Guide
Flexographic printing, a dynamic and versatile printing process, revolutionizes the world of packaging with its innovative approach. At the heart of this technique lies the Flexible Photopolymer Relief Plate, tightly wound around a rotary cylinder—a distinctive feature that sets flexography apart. Let's delve into the intricacies of this process and explore why it has become the preferred choice for product packaging.
**Flexographic Printing Unveiled**
Flexography's magic unfolds as inked plates, adorned with subtly raised images, dance around a rapidly spinning cylinder. This swift, one-step process, coupled with the use of quick-drying ink, makes flexography the hallmark of efficiency in product packaging. From butcher paper to metallic films, flexo embraces a myriad of substrates, unleashing limitless branding possibilities for packaging companies.
**Navigating the Flexographic Printing Process**
Initiating the print process involves loading the printing plate onto plate cylinders. With each color requiring a separate plate, precision is paramount. Advanced video-assisted mounting machines ensure accurate alignment, paving the way for flawless image transfer onto the substrate.
Ink, the lifeblood of the process, traverses from the tank to an anilox roller, meticulously regulating ink deposit with its cell-like impressions. A doctor blade, a vigilant guardian, prevents ink flooding, ensuring a crisp, positive print image. As the printed image meets the substrate, a swift drying process, facilitated by various techniques, concludes this symphony of precision.
The final act unfolds at the outfeed and rewind stage, where substrates, now adorned with vibrant prints, pass through Die Cut Stations for the finishing touch.
**Advantages of Flexographic Printing**
Flexography boasts several advantages that make it an ideal choice for medium to high-volume print runs:
- Blazing speeds, perfect for long print runs.
- Compatibility with a diverse array of substrates.
- Minimal setup times, ensuring high-quality output with minimal waste.
- Single-pass efficiency, eliminating the need for separate printing, varnishing, laminating, and die-cutting processes.
- Cost-effectiveness in both equipment and maintenance.
**Why Opt for a Flexo Printing Press?**
Beyond speed and cost efficiency, Flexo Printing Press offers a host of benefits that can sway the decision-making process:
- Lower ink costs per square meter compared to digital printing.
- Enhanced flexibility and durability, catering to various colors and substrates.
- Increased production capacity for labels in shorter time frames.
- Versatility in applications, from cold foil to laminating glue and varnish.
- Inclusion of inline finishing within the Flexo Press.
- Adaptability to diverse industries, such as textile, packaging, and label printing, fostering market appeal and competitiveness.
- Ability to print on an extensive range of substrates, including paper, board, foil, plastic film, cellophane, recycled materials, and textiles.
Flexographic printing stands tall as a comprehensive solution, marrying efficiency, versatility, and cost-effectiveness—a triumph for businesses seeking to elevate their printing capabilities.

{Sonic the Hedgehog] "When will Then be Now?" [For © KatarinaTheCat]
Dr. Eggman: Did you find them yet?
Egg-Robo 4: No, Doctor. There's still not on the radar.
Dr. Eggman: Well, then... Keep searching. [turns to drink his second cup of coffee]
[Both of Sleet's ears begin perking up as he starts to formulate a plan]
Sleet:(feeling a bit confident) Beg pardon, Sir. I have an idea. [Turns to Egg Robo-4] Corporal, find me the closest file you could find that contains an instant copy of "Sonic the Hedgehog: The Motion Comic".
Egg-Robo 4: Roger, roger. [Starts going through a lot of saved files as he proceeds to uncover a certain document as Sleet requested]
Dr. Eggman: Commander, may I speak with you for a moment?
Sleet: Yes, sir...?
Dr.Eggman:(Slightly confused) How on Earth are we suppose to find a rare copy of "Sonic the Hedgehog: The Motion Comic", if we never have a comic to begin with? We're still in the middle to make it!
Sleet: Very true, Sir. But there's been a technical breakthrough through Social Media as we speak.
Dr. Eggman: There is?
Sleet: Why, of course. "Online Campaigning"; A lot of people have been raising funds to keep the project going through and through, already donating worldwide before the comic is even finished.
Dr. Eggman: [Shrugs it off] Nah.
Egg-Robo 4: Here it is, Sir! [Both Eggman & Sleet turn around; Egg-Robo 4 shows the file] "Sonic the Hedgehog: The Motion Comic".
Sleet: Good work, Corporal. Punch it out.
[Egg-Robo 4 starts playing the file. It actually starts with a DISCLAIMER.]
Sleet: ACK. It started much too early. Prepare to fast-forward.
Egg-Robo 4: Preparing to fast-forward--
Sleet:(impatiently) Fast Foward!
Egg-Robo: --Fast-forwarding, Sir.
[Starts fast-forwarding through the ludicrous speed scene. Dr. Eggman is thrown into the panel at a high-speed.]
Dr. Eggman:(cringes a bit) No, no, no, no-- Go past this, past this part. In fact, never play this again.
[The scene stops at the exact same thing that is actually happening now. Dr. Eggman looks at the what I believe, is the person who is reading, then he turns back to the monitor. Sleet looks at the same reader when Eggman looks back at the monitor, then he looks back at the monitor. Eggman looks at the reader again when Sleet looks back at the monitor. When Eggman turns back, he waves his hand. He turns back to the reader one more time.]
Dr. Eggman: What the heck am I EVEN looking at?! When did this happen a few panels ago?!
Sleet: Now. You're looking at now, sir. Everything that happens now, is happening now.
Dr. Eggman: What happened to then?
Sleet: We passed "Then".
Dr. Eggman: When?
Sleet: Just now. We're at "now", now.
Dr. Eggman: Go back to then.
Sleet: When?
Dr. Eggman: Now.
Sleet: Now?
Dr. Eggman: Now!
Sleet: We can't.
Dr. Eggman: Why?
Sleet: We've missed it.
Dr. Eggman: When?
Sleet: Just now.
Dr. Eggman: ...When will "Then" be "Now"?
[Egg-Robo 4 rewinds the video. He stops at the point when Sonic & Tails are both exploring the Mystic Caves.}
Sleet: SOON.
Dr. Eggman: How soon..?
Egg-Robo 4: Sirs?
Dr. Eggman: WHAT?!
Egg-Robo 4: We've identified their location.
Dr. Eggman: WHERE??
Egg-Robo 4: They're near the Mystic Caves.
Sleet: Excellent Work. Set a course for the Mystic Caves, at once! Tell them to prepare for our arrival.
Dr. Eggman: WHEN?!?
Egg-Robo 4: Five hours should be more than enough, sir.
Sleet:(Ecstatically) --At High Noon tomorrow, They will be our prisoners!
Dr. Eggman: WHOOO--- [The lights shut down, along with the entire system, resulting in a huge power outage]

Series 5 Episodes 12 & 13: The Pandorica Opens & The Big Bang
Heyy everyone it’s time for the series 5 finale! Moffat’s finales have been known to get a bit… messy at times, but with series 5’s high regard, does his writing style work for this story? Let’s find out.
So usually with these reviews I’ll pick out specific parts of the story that I like/dislike, and then split em up into the significant bits and write about em. This is usually pretty easy, but trying to segment this two-parter like that is nigh impossible, as everything sort of blends into one another. I’m gonna try my best tho. SO, let’s talk about that blend. Because this episode is like if you threw loads of Doctor Who things into a blender and just let it rip, and the biggest place you can see the impact of this is in the pacing of the episode. This episode, at least until the final act of The Big Bang, goes so incredibly fast. There is so much stimuli on screen during this two-parter and it’s both incredibly impressive and overwhelming. It gives the story a very strong sense of scale (this definitely feels like the biggest finale so far in terms of stakes, EVERY big villain is back *and* the entire universe/time itself is at stake. However, it just becomes really really hard to follow. There were several times I had to pause and rewind just to catch up on what was happening on screen because it moved so fast, and so even though I respect it’s building of stakes, I’m not sure I’m a massive fan of the speed this episode takes (or is forced to take due to the runtime).
Another thing I want to take a look at is the impact this story has on our characters, or well the lack of it for the most part. As we talked about in the previous paragraph, this story has a massive sense of scale and puts so much at stake. And yet, our characters, bar Rory, are the same for it. Amy, even after the events of Flesh and Stone’s ending and the fallout from that, goes to kiss the Doctor when he comes back?? This is where trying to analyse characters in this episode gets tricky, because does she even remember that at this point? Which parts of series 5 survived/happened in our cast’s minds? In everyone else's? It’s all left very open ended and so it’s hard to see how these moments impacted our characters, or if the impacts of big character moments from series 5 remain. There is one character who does get to triumph in this episode and it’s our boy Rory. His 2,000 year guard as the centurion fits so well into his character, and through this it resolves what little conflict there was left of who was the right person for Amy.
But finally, I want to talk about the ending of this episode, because whilst everything else is a bit of a hot mess, I love how this series resolves. Amy finds all these little bits of the Doctor hanging about the room, and uses them to fight and remember him, spawning him back into existence with him ready to party. The wedding goes on, Rory gets the girl, Amy gets her Doctor back, and The Doctor gets to come back into the universe (because let’s face it he wasn’t gonna actually die the show *does* have to go on). It’s really sweet, and it rounds out the series really well. Whilst some things are left unclear, those hooks are used to reel us back in for the next series, and so I can let the loose ends slide in what is a lovely climax to the story and the series as a whole.
TL:DR/Overview: This episode is a big cocktail of iconic doctor who monsters, massive stakes, and some strong character moments. It *is* a bit of a mess, the pacing is very fast and can often leave the viewer in the dust as the story flies over to the next big point, but I can respect what it’s going for and I do find the ending sweet. I do also feel that some things really should’ve been cleared up in this episode (who remembers what??) but with the amount of stuff it crams into the runtime it just didn’t have the room to do that. It’s a solid Doctor Who finale, and for that I’m giving it a B tier. Series 5 was typically hit or miss for me, but this was one episode that very much fell into the middle of the pack for me, with equal parts I liked and disliked in this episode.

Operation: Rosa
I was going to write a situation based on how Rosa would interact with each of the NXX duders while they're drunk
But then I thought, what if it's Rosa who's out of it? Then decided to just run with it anyway.
Also I really want to see more interaction between the NXX dudes in the game.
This was fun to write
Vyn here is based on his Electrifying Night appearance
The underground club pulsated with lights, sound and emotion.
It was almost suffocating. Tension filled the stage as the band's performance came to a climax in the midst of the raucous cheers from the audience.
Then the music ended.
The applause all around Vyn Richter flooded his senses almost to the point of overstimulation. Yet none of the passion overflowing from the audience reached him.
His apathetic eyes scanned the audience.
She's not here, he realized, with a sharp tinge of regret as his hands let go of his keyboard.
===
He was about to make his way to the break room when he heard Marius call out his name. Vyn almost missed his voice in the midst of the crowd that loudly clamored for the band's attention.
"Vyn!" Marius sounded agitated. "Vyn! Over here, get your punk ass here quick!"
Vyn dropped the towel he used to wipe the sweat away from his face and neck. "Marius," he called out, deftly avoiding the females who started to crowd around him. "What are you doing here?" He raised his voice in order to be audible over the cacophony of the excited crowd.
With nary a word Marius grabbed his arm and together they barreled through the sea of people, navigating through the narrow dimly-lit, smoked filled corridors of the backstage.
Eventually Marius pushed Vyn into one of the rooms.
Already irritated, Vyn was about to confront his student when his eyes fell upon the missing piece of that night's performance.
Rosa lay sprawled over a a dingy plush chair, unconscious.
Luke was also there, dabbing a wet towel on her forehead. Seeing Vyn, he quickly stepped aside to make way for the doctor.
"Rosa!" Vyn kicked away a stool that got in the way and knelt beside her.
He quickly checked her pulse. Arrhythmia.
Hands shaking, he opened one of her eyelids carefully. A glassy, dilated pupil stared at the ceiling.
Despite the tender fingers caressing Rosa's face, nothing but cold fury burned in Vyn's eyes.
"Who the fuck dared to drug Rosa?"
===
Marius tossed Luke a flash drive. "I filched this from the security room," he said, and grabbed the stool that Vyn kicked away earlier to sit himself beside Rosa.
"Fucking hell. I only looked away for a minute because I needed to take a call from Vincent," he said to no one in particular. "I messed up."
Luke, sitting on the floor tablet in hand, was playing through and rewinding a certain segment in the CCTV footage. He could not afford to lose his wits at the moment. At that very moment his detached PI mode kicked into high gear as he watched for any tell tale signs of anyone who could have spiked his childhood friend's drink.
Vyn stood with his back against the wall, his eyes unfocused, deep in thought.
"Luke, Marius," he finally said, emerging from his state of almost-catatonia. "Does anyone else know about this incident?"
"Not yet, no," Marius said, his eyes never leaving Rosa. "Actually, there's a reason why we haven't reported this to the police yet."
"I'm going the kill that little shit with my own hands," Luke said, never breaking his inspection of the CCTV footage.
"He's not even going to reach jail."
"Well, I believe that settles it," Vyn grinned, with a tinge of mania in his eyes. "I am glad we are finally all in agreement over one thing."
"Damn, Vyn. You're scaring me," Marius said. "But yeah. This fucker is going to get it."
"Heh." Vyn speed dialed a number.
"Artem? We need you by the docks, now. Bring your car."
===
Even after he was updated of the situation, Artem still punched Vyn's face hard enough to knock his glasses off.
"Alright, I'll take her home," Artem muttered, his eyes never leaving Vyn. "But if her situation does not improve in a couple of hours I'm sending her to the hospital. I don't care if that's going to get the police on your tail."
"Just keep her room dark and quiet as much as possible to prevent overstimulation," Vyn said quietly as he rubbed his cheek and picked up his glasses. "You can do that much, I presume?"
Artem carefully picks up Rosa and tenderly seats her on the passenger side.
"You have two hours. No more."
"Well, you heard the man," said Marius as they watched Artem drive off to Rosa's apartment. "You okay?"
"Never better," Vyn muttered, his left cheek still throbbing. "Let us begin."
The three men gathered around the hood of Vyn's car. Luke turned on the display of his tablet. "We have the perp here," he said as he pointed to a grainy still image of a man in nondescript purple shirt, sporting a perfectly normal crew cut. Using his fingers, he zoomed into the image and enlarged the suspect's side profile.
With a click Luke captured the image into a separate application and ran it through the police database via a backdoor that he set up just in case.
"Welp, we're in luck," Luke said. "Got a hit."
Marius peered over Luke's shoulder and read the man's rap sheet and profile. "Bruce," he muttered. "I never knew anyone named Bruce who's trustworthy. Luke--"
"Raven" Luke murmured as he booted up his access to Big Data's surveillance network. "Use our code names."
"What?"
"Treat this like a proper operation," Luke said as he ran the image through facial recognition of the nearby security cameras. "King."
Marius blinked. He hadn't had any experience in clandestine operations, but he liked the idea. "Fine. Raven it is." He looked over at Vyn, who was adjusting his gloves. "You fine with that, Judge?"
"Did you forget my code name already?"
"Give me a break," Marius said, exasperated. "Adjudicator is a goddamn mouthful."
"Very well, then."
A ping coming from Luke's tablet confirmed a positive in one of the cameras in the vicinity. "Got him," Luke said urgently as he ran to his motorcycle and started it with a kick. "King, catch," he threw the spare helmet to Marius.
"I've hooked up your phones to the security network--it'll take them an hour before they notice anything amiss," Marius said as he pulled the helmet over his head.
"Oh, and Judge?"
Vyn only stared at Marius in response.
"Don't kill the fucker before we do," Marius said before Luke revved the motorcycle and rode to the darkness.
All of us care for Rosa, were the unspoken words that did not need to be said.
===
As they have discussed previously before meeting up with Artem, the plan at its simplest was to track the suspect's movements through the security camera network.
And just go from there, Luke had said. After all, we don't have the luxury of time to observe his usual routes.
With one hand on the wheel, Vyn cruised through the 3 am streets of west Stellis with the windshield rolled down. He listened intently for any updates that Luke fed into their phones.
His portable keyboard, a keytar, lay on the shotgun seat.
"Judge, can you hear me," Luke said in a low voice through the speakers, as if already tracking down the target. "Target is on foot along Weiming River towards the Old Streets area."
"Noted," murmured Vyn as he made a turn into the intersection ahead. "Raven."
"No, we're already tracking him down, Judge. We need you to cut off a possible escape route along the CBD."
"Just pin me the location."
===
Marius and Luke, both wearing helmets, silently stalked their prey as the man unwittingly walked into a deserted alleyway presumably on the way home.
They have already ditched Luke's motorcycle in a nearby parking lot, banking on Vyn's car as their escape vehicle.
The alleyway was mostly devoid of light except for a lone flickering streetlamp a few paces ahead. The chiaroscuro of faint light and deep shadows made for an easy hunting ground for an experienced agent such as Luke.
Alas, the one who tagged along wasn't as experienced as he is. Marius accidentally kicked an empty tin can, causing quite a commotion that reverberated through almost the entire length of the alley and even prompted barking from a stray dog.
"Ahh fuckit," Marius muttered.
Alarmed, the man they were tracking turned around and tried to peer into the darkness directly behind him. "Who's there?!"
Luke shrugged at Marius. Might as well get over it.
The two helmeted men stepped out from the shadows and into the soft illumination from the single working streetlamp.
"Hello Brucey," Marius said in a sing-song voice while cracking his knuckles. "How'd your night go?"
Luke didn't bother saying anything, but picked up a nearby loose steel pipe.
"Wh-who sent you?" the man stammered as he backed into a nearby pile of crates. "I paid! I swear!"
"Relaaaaax," Marius said as he walked slowly towards him, akin to a cat stalking its prey. "We actually just want to pay you back for what you did to our little darling."
"Wait, what?" He pushed himself away from the crates. "I didn't do anything to her!"
"You liar," Luke spat, pure hatred in his voice. "You put fucking ketamine in her drink."
"Ooh, I wonder what'll happen to you if you got jailed again for the same offense?" Marius said in the same friendly voice he used when talking to the older board executives. "But since we're friends, we're not going to turn you over to the police."
To emphasize Marius' point, Luke fiddled with the steel pipe he picked up earlier.
The man immediately understood what was going to happen to him. "Get away from me!" With great effort, he toppled the pile of wooden crates in an attempt to block Marius and Luke's path, trying to prevent them from further chase on foot.
"Oh well," Marius said as he tapped his receiver. "Judge, the little shit is coming your way."
"Noted," came the quiet, nuanced reply over the phone.

Bruce scrambled through the long alleyway, desperate to get away from the two men who threatened to beat him in retaliation for the little fun he attempted--but failed--with their girl friend. I didn't get the chance to do anything yet!
This was an alley that he always took every night, but for some reason it seemed to stretch out longer than he'd always remembered. He threw a glance behind him. Nothing but darkness, but his back tingled as if their presence persisted, threatening to swallow him if he ever so much as stopped running.
Then, as he neared the exit, a strange sound wafted in his ears.
It seemed like some classical music. It was familiar to Bruce, but since he never cared about those things he never knew what the music was actually called, except that it was bougie trash.
Then when he turned the corner nearest the exit, he was horrified to find out that a car blocked his way.
A man, his head glinting silver in the thin gibbous moonlight, stood with his back to the hood of the car, arms crossed.
As if waiting for him. If Bruce peered closely at him, he could have seen gold cat-like eyes glare at him with unadulterated hate.
The car door was open. The classical music Bruce had been hearing came from the speakers inside the car.
"Shit," Bruce muttered, panicking as he tried to scan for other escape routes. It was already too late to turn back; he could make out the silhouette of the other two already approaching from the distance.
"Hey, I'm sor--"
Bruce did not get a chance to speak, as Vyn crashed his keyboard hard at his crotch. He doubled over at the searing white-hot pain that burned the family jewels.
Without missing a beat, Vyn once again lifted the keyboard high above his shoulders and brought it down hard at the back of Bruce's head.
===
Vyn was lazily trying to flip Bruce's still-breathing body using his foot by the time Marius and Luke finally caught up.
By his feet and all around the limp body on the ground scattered bits and pieces of what used to be a keyboard.
Marius recognized the music that has been playing on repeat.
"Vy-Judge? Did you actually beat up this little shit while Ode to Joy was playing?"
He did not reply for a moment.
Then, "No better music to murder with," he said as he flipped Bruce a second time with a sound kick to the side.
A faint groan emanated from the man lying on the ground.
"The fuck you doing?" Marius said as he walked over to Bruce's prone form.
"Step aside, King," Luke finally spoke up and brought down the steel pipe for more additional pain that Bruce may or may not survive through.
===
Vyn, Marius, and Luke stare at the beat-up body of the man they just stuffed into the nearby trashbin.
"Well, its a good thing he's still alive," Marius murmured detachedly. "You---uh, checked? Judge?"
"I do not care if he's alive or dead," said Vyn, his voice equally disinterested.
"He'll live," Luke murmured. "I did check.
"It's more painful that way."

The next morning, Rosa woke up a little groggy, but in a much better condition. Huh? I'm in my bed?
She wracked her head trying to remember how she ended up in her room. Wasn't I at the club...?
It was then she finally noticed the presences of the four men who lay asleep in various spots within her bedroom: Vyn, still in his EDM outfit, laid by the foot of her bed, his feet hanging over the edge; Artem had his arms crossed while sleeping, sitting on the chair set next to her bed; Luke and Marius were both sprawled on the carpeted floor snoring away their tiredness.
What the hell happened?

For April fools day, I will outline the events of the day throughout the ego household.
Jackie is the first to initiate the prank war, attaching one of his tazer charges to the doorknob outside of Chase's room before he wakes up. Chase will forn sure be out for revenge later in the day.
Marvin hates mornings, but he will power through the tiredness to mess with Henrik. He puts a spell on the coffee maker so that it will brew the coffee grounds into anything but coffee. He does not realize the fury he hath invoked.
After recovering from the shock of his doorknob, Chase decides to warm up with a prank on JJ before getting back at Jackie. He sets a series of alarm clocks to go off at the same time and hides them throughout Jameson's room while he's in the shower. 10 minutes later he is tearing apart his room in a towel trying to find and stop the blasted ringing.
Henrik, having settled for the tea that he managed to make in the coffee pot, decides to wrap all of Marvin's books and potions in bandages and medical tape before drawing angry eyebrows on Marvin's mask with a marker. This is the price you pay for messing with the good doctor's coffee.
Unfortunately duty calls and Jackie has to suit up for patrol. But when he goes to grab his suit, he finds it covered hood to boot in white cat hair. He has no time to grab a lint roller, so he hopes swinging through the city at high speed will blow most of it off.
JJ pours himself a cup of tea from the coffee maker and offers to pour one for Marvin as well. While Marv's not looking, he mixes in some cayenne pepper flakes into the other cup. He watches as his brother coughs and sputters from the spicy tea with a smug grin. He rewinds time a couple of times just to watch the reaction again.
Chase sneaks down into Jackie's secret lair and toilet papers everything. He also manages to get onto his computer and change the language into Spanish.
Henrik gathers up all of marvin's crystals and rocks and locks them in a box that he hides on the roof.
While on patrol, Jackie swings by the hospital and sneaks into Henrik's office. He takes the ink cartridges out of all of the pens, snaps all the pencils in half, and moves all of the furniture an inch to the left.
Henrik hides marv's bottles of special herbs and plants and replaces them with bottles from the spice rack in the kitchen.
Jameson finds a bottle of vodka in Chase's room, pours it out and replaces it with vinegar. Before leaving, he steals the ammo box for the nerf guns.
Chase sets every clock in the house to a different time.
Henrik spreads coffee grounds throughout Marvin's sheets.
Jackie orders 50 pizzas for the Iplier manor on his way home.
Marvin transfigures everyone's pairs of shoes so that they're both left shoes.
Jameson plays a ragtime version of "Never Gonna Give You Up" and Rick rolls the entire house.
They're all in the living room waiting for someone to make another move when a crash is heard from upstairs. They burst into Jamie's bedroom to see all of the furniture knocked over and glowing strings woven around the room like cobwebs. Faceless wooden puppets dressed like all of them hang tangled within the strands. Henrik starts shaking while Jameson starts hyperventilating as the color drains from his body and the things surrounding it. While Jackie and Marvin try to calm them down, Chase notices something on the wall. His stomach lurches and a familiar static is felt in the air as he reads what's carved into the wall and painted in blood.
APRIL FOOLS
They all sleep together in the living room that night. Not that sleep will come to any of them.
