Heave

If there is one word that is often used in seafaring then it is heave.

Waves heave up and down in rough seas, so a wave can heave a boat onto reef by lifting it.

to heave a line can mean either to throw a line or to take the strain and haul in on a line.

to heave the lead, heave the log is to throw or to cast something.

to heave a ship ahead (astern) it to warp her ahead when not under sail, by means of cables, or to cause her to move, forcing her from or to a particular position.

to heave a ship down is to throw or lay her on her side for careening.

to heave about is to suddenly put the ship about.

to heave in is to shorten lengths of ropes or cables.

the heave in stays is to put the ship on another tack.

to heave out a sail is to unfurl it.

to heave taut is to turn a rope.

to heave to is to turn into the wind and set sails to stop or gain control in heavy weather.

raise or haul up by means of a rope, line or cable, as in the order: Hove the anchor up and set sail.

to move a vessel in a certain direction or to a specified position the frigate hove alongside.

to pull at or haul a rope or cable the brig is heaving around on the anchor.

to push at a capstan bar or lever .

to heave into sight ( or view) is used for a ship that rises or seems to rise over the horizon into view.

a heaving line is a rope with a heavy knot on the end light enough for a sailor to throw to a dock or to another vessel. The bitter end of the heaving line is secured to the end of a heavier dockline or towing line, so that it can then be hauled over.

So my human OC, Loretta "Ettie" Caruso, with mini versions of the Astro Squad in their alt modes!

This story isn't a new continuity, but rather an exploration of the G1 universe with a different set of characters we've never gotten to see through the eyes of.

Time for some actual info about her specifically!

Ettie is a 28 year old mechanic from New Jersey born in 1978, raised in by her single father with an older sister and younger brother. When the Autobots and Decepticons emerged in 1984, she was immediately entranced by them and thought they were the coolest thing. In 1994, she got to go to an event hosted by Blaster and meet him face to face. She developed an infatuation with him really quick (don't come for me, this is exactly why we all make up OCs). While she'd been interested in the field anyway, she became determined to become a mechanic so she could help out the Autobots... And be closer to these alien robots she's rooted for since she was 6. In the year 1999, she was selected to go through Cybertronian medical training due to her excelling in mechanic work and testing well on basic Cybertonian anatomy. Traveling to Autobot City, dhe did lessons with Autobot medics like Ratchet, First Aid, and Hoist as well as some lessons with Sparkplug Witwicky who'd been working on the bots since 1984 and she did very well. Over time, she became better and better, even doing solo work on bots herself. In 2004, she was selected to join a deep space mission with the Astro Squad. She underwent some astronaut training and basic EDC training on interplanetary procedures and etiquette and the team officially started their mission in early 2005.

Now, the year is 2006 and, while meshing with the team has taken some trial and error (especially with the battle-eager Barrage), but she would say it's going well.

As for Ettie, she's headstrong but kind. Her hero worship of the Autobots made her want to stand up for those who needed help. She can be a little overzealous at times, but she does legitimately mean well. Part of this is because she's butted heads with people in her chosen industry and, thusly, she can get defensive. She also religiously tunes into Blaster's radio show broadcast from Autobot City. Since actually meeting the Autobots, her hero worship has cooled down (and becoming an adult). They're people just like humans are. She's butted heads with a few bots who aren't quite as accepting of humans in their midst as others are... Though she still has never been able to let go when it comes to Optimus Prime.

When they got the news about the attack on Autobot City later on, it was quite a blow to the team. They eventually landed on a planet and held their own little ceremony to honor those who'd been lost.

Now the year is 2006 and they're continually their exploration of deep space!

If writers bothered including Micromasters Astro Squad pair Barrage and Heave in anything, I'm pretty sure they would be all over the Tumblr fandom.

They form two halves of the same vehicle and their dynamic is "tough guy that wants to fight all of the battles and runs in head first" and "soft guy that wants to fight none of the battles and gets dragged along anyway".

They're beautiful and I love them now.

Steve tries to mock how Eddie speaks when he DMs and starts speaking like a Shakespearean peasant. The kids start defending Eddie, Nancy and Jonathan just look on like disappointed parents, and Robin just rolls her eyes before joining Steve in his quest of annoying them all. 

Meanwhile, Eddie has his eyes squarely on Steve’s lips as he enunciates each medieval word. He’s never wanted to kiss him quite so much as he does right then. Instead of being insulted like he probably should be, Eddie falls in love with this buffoon right then and there. 

It makes things interesting because they aren’t even dating at that point. But it makes Eddie blush and stutter in every one of their interactions until finally Steve breaks and kisses Eddie.
