Photius the Great, Patriarch of Constantinople
Reading from the Synaxarion:
As for the thrice-blessed Photius, the great and most resplendent Father and teacher of the Church, the Confessor of the Faith and Equal to the Apostles, he lived during the years of the emperors Michael (the son of Theophilus), Basil the Macedonian, and Leo his son. He was the son of pious parents, Sergius and Irene, who suffered for the Faith under the Iconoclast Emperor Theophilus; he was also a nephew of Saint Tarasius, Patriarch of Constantinople (see Feb. 25). He was born in Constantinople, where he excelled in the foremost imperial ministries, while ever practicing a virtuous and godly life. An upright and honorable man of singular learning and erudition, he was raised to the apostolic, ecumenical, and patriarchal throne of Constantinople in the year 857.
The many struggles that this thrice-blessed one undertook for the Orthodox Faith against the Manichaeans, the Iconoclasts, and other heretics, and the attacks and assaults that he endured from Nicholas I, the haughty and ambitious Pope of Rome, and the great persecutions and distresses he suffered, are beyond number. Contending against the Latin error of the filioque, that is, the doctrine that the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son, he demonstrated clearly with his Mystagogy on the Holy Spirit how the filioque destroys the unity and equality of the Trinity. He has left us many theological writings, panegyric homilies, and epistles, including one to Boris, the Sovereign of Bulgaria, in which he set forth for him the history and teachings of the Seven Ecumenical Councils. Having tended the Church of Christ in holiness and in an evangelical manner, and with fervent zeal having rooted out all the tares of every alien teaching, he departed to the Lord in t he Monastery of the Armenians on February 6, 891.
Apolytikion of Photius, Pat. Of Constantinople in the Fourth Tone
As a teacher to the world, being one with the Apostles, intercede with the Lord of all, O Photios, that He may grant the world peace, and to our souls His great mercy.
Kontakion of Photius, Pat. Of Constantinople in the Plagal of the Fourth Tone
Far-reaching beacon of the Church and God, inspired Guide of the Orthodox, you are now crowned with the flowers of song. You are the divine words of the Spirit's harp, the strong adversary of heresy and to whom we cry, "Hail all-honorable Photius."

Backyard fence Melodies: Songs from the Enclosed Heart
In the rhythm of everyday life, where boundaries delineate our spaces, a magical symphony takes center stage – the “Backyard fence Melodies.” These are the soulful compositions that resonate from the enclosed heart of communities, where Backyard fences stand not only as physical barriers but as lyrical storytellers weaving tales of connection, separation, and the vibrant spirit of shared existence.
The Backyard fence Melodies begin their enchanting serenade with the first light of dawn. As the sun paints the sky in hues of amber and gold, the backyard fence awaken, and their silent music fills the air. Each plank, each wire, and each post contributes a unique note to the dawn chorus, creating a harmonious overture that announces the start of a new day.
As the day unfolds, the melodies evolve. The laughter of children playing in backyards becomes a playful staccato, punctuating the air with the exuberance of youth. The gentle creaks and whispers of the Backyard fence, swaying in the breeze, add a melodic lilt to the background, creating a pastoral sonnet that echoes through the neighborhood.
At midday, the Backyard fence Melodies take on a contemplative tone. The quiet rustle of leaves against the wooden panels becomes a meditative hum, inviting residents to pause and listen to the subtle cadence of nature within their enclosed haven. The Backyard fences, like harps in the wind, create a soothing interlude, a moment of respite in the midst of daily bustle.
As evening descends, the melodies crescendo with the communal gatherings and shared experiences. Backyard barbecues, impromptu jam sessions, and the collective hum of conversation compose a rich and layered composition. The Backyard fences, now resonating with the warmth of human connection, become instruments of unity, conducting a symphony of shared joy and camaraderie.
In the quiet hours of the night, the Backyard fence Melodies become a lullaby for the community. The rhythmic hum of distant traffic, the distant chirping of crickets, and the gentle hush of the wind against the Backyard fence create a tranquil nocturne, guiding residents into the embrace of peaceful slumber.
Beyond their utilitarian function, the Backyard fence Melodies teach us to listen with the heart. These songs from the enclosed heart of communities remind us that within the seemingly mundane structures of our neighborhoods, there exists a rich tapestry of melodies waiting to be discovered. The Backyard fences, with their silent but resonant compositions, invite us to recognize the poetry in our everyday lives and celebrate the harmonies that connect us all.

Lauryn and I feel like a couple of snails in the July heat as we walk the five minutes from our soon-to-be-old apartment over to Darrien’s place. He opens the front door covered head to toe in skate merch: a black Palace tee with pink font, and HUF Worldwide flip-flops with pink sweatpants, and gives us both a big hug. We feel instantly welcomed—a quality that makes this speaker geek from Virginia a natural leader in Denver’s underground. At Dem Deya Sound System gatherings, attendees often approach him to chat while he’s taking breaks from fine-tuning the party, and he’s proud to hold space for them. In keeping with the sound system tradition he operates from, community doesn’t merely come first, it’s the message.
Tumblr media
"Reggae is just so hard, depending on what area you're doing it at. Like, if you're playing towards a Caribbean crowd, or playing towards a bunch of Roots peoples, Rastas, or just playing for people who like the word ‘dub,’ which is a completely different world almost...”
Darrien guides us to his studio apartment couch and apologizes for the temperature, then steps away to grab some cans of lemon sparkling water. I notice the various Lego car builds displayed on his desk next to a few pieces of MIDI gear—looks like he doesn’t just build speakers. After taking a few sips to cool down and chatting about the futuristic car on his TV (he's been playing Final Fantasy XV), we jump into the interview. He wants to talk about genre variety; for him, it’s a prerequisite for getting people tuned in to what he’s actually doing out here. He’s a natural storyteller and shrewd conversationalist, speaking candidly about the mission while maintaining a low key demeanor and cracking plenty of jokes. Lauryn and I quickly start to feel like a couple of buddies just kicking back and catching up.
Darrien is grateful for Denver’s “built-in” electronic music scene, and feels strongly about platforming original sound system styles. But he’s also blazing his own trail—pun intended! Traditionally, sound systems don’t showcase the non-reggae styles that Dem Deya does, at least not with such regularity. But Darrien understands that dubstep, drum n’ bass, jungle, hip-hop, and even garage aren’t just logical entry points for many of Denver's scenesters—they’re a solid foundation for a sound system community. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s got outstanding taste in these styles. “There's already a community here,” he says, “and we got to throw some of these [non-dub/non-reggae] events to get some of these people to understand that this is the role of the sound system.” This part of the mission is front-of-mind for Dem Deya. It’s been simmering on their proverbial cooktop for a time, and putting in the work to get people there has been an easy choice. But the work itself is not easy—it’s almost like threading a needle. On one side, the inherent pressure of genre ‘purity’ from the cultural giants whose shoulders they stand on. And on the other, a whitewashed bass music scene generally not prone to dub and reggae unless it’s worked into 140 BPM dubstep. Darrien doesn’t harp on cultural appropriation during our interview—his work isn’t concerned with drawing lines in the sand, in fact, just the opposite. But the context in which he’s operating is important to understanding the immensity of what he’s doing in Colorado. Darrien is an educator through and through, passionate about increasing awareness of true sound system culture and the roles it can play in society. He talks at length about sound system’s inherently political nature, referencing systems in Jamaica being stolen or destroyed by the government, and Rastafarians being tortured and killed by police on Bad Friday. The message of sound system, at its core, is “unity, community, peace, love, respect, and self-liberation," says Darrien. He’s dedicated his life to spreading this message in the states, where just a handful of traditional sound systems operate.
Tumblr media
Darrien (left) with his grandfather and little brother, circa 1999
Before Darrien became entwined with sound system, family and community sparked his love for music. When he was just seven or eight years old, his dad let him pick out some CDs from a massive home collection. He opted for “Toxicity” by System of a Down, and “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)” by Wu-Tang Clan. “[My dad] was like, ‘Yo, pick anything you want, I think you’re old enough. Here’s a Walkman CD player. This is how it works. Don't scratch it, don't drop it.’ That's when I kind of started seeing the value of it all, but, over time, y’know?” He thoughtfully observes how songs and albums used to carry so much power, and points out that in order to really make an impact on people these days, you have to throw an entire event.
As a teen, Darrien was particularly inspired by the music he heard in skate videos. His takeaway as a youngster was that it “was easy to understand,” because it “all came from an area of self-expression,” whether the style was heavy metal, hip-hop, country, or even folk. In high school, one of his skateboarding buddies turned him on to “FabricLive.37” by Caspa & Rusko. Along with artists like Pretty Lights and an introductory festival experience at Identity, this formed the “surface level” of his foray into electronic music. But joining the Air Force at age 18 to serve as an airplane technician was what truly pulled him in deep, into contact with the UK’s diverse electronic music scene.
“I didn't want my parents to pay for my college; I wanted to see some new shit. [So I joined the Air Force] and I was like, send me wherever. So they obviously sent me to the rave capital of the world.” [laughs]
Darrien was keen to check out London’s musical underground. First, through free parties in the midlands, then Outlook festival, and eventually, weekly visits to raves and sound system events in the city.
“Next thing you know, three years passed by and me and Ky [co-founder Kyler Coates] were going to parties every week, just buying tickets left and right. … We would drive an hour to our friend Rosa’s house in London who we met at this festival Outlook. Shout out Rosa, man. Her spot would just be poppin’ every single weekend. So it was never a question of 'if', we just had to hit her up and let her know, and then we would have our own space to sleep. Afterwards, we could just drive an hour back to town.”
This kind of exposure to underground music culture instilled excitement in the pair, and their eventual involvement with local sound system culture inspired a deep sense of purpose. They proceeded to buy a short speaker stack from a high schooler in town who built custom boxes, and planned a move back to the states to spread that purpose. Initially, choosing Denver as a home base was for little reason other than weed’s legality there.
“I don't really have to explain much about the reasons I would leave the military, but it was clearly not the fucking vibe, y’know? So we decided, alright, well, let’s go here [to Denver]. See what we can do [with our own] sound system, and yeah, it's worked out, it's become like nothing I could ever really imagine. This was something where we were just trying to dedicate ourselves to this message."
And dedicate themselves, they have. Dem Deya have developed a strong presence in Denver’s sprawling music scene in just a couple of years, going on to fly out staple reggae & dub artists while platforming the local DJ community, getting the sound system to a place where, in Darrien’s words, “all two thousand of the Instagram followers are trying to buy tickets to go see Joe Schmo play, because they just know the stack is coming out, and they know they’re accepted there.” But this run hasn’t been without its challenges. Darrien isn’t shy about the pushback they’ve received from certain parts of the scene in Denver. Unfortunately, as is the case in many other cities, clubs and greedy promoters have been a particular source of frustration. He pulls no punches discussing industry commodification and monopolization, illustrating how sound system has a unique ability to disrupt that chain.
“Man, it really gets goofy sometimes. I remember the first event when we brought our sound system here. At this point, it’s a half stack. We've got a bunch of dub records, and we’re literally just looking for a space to bring it in and press play on it. And this dude was trying to charge us $600. I'm like, bro, what is.....what do you mean? And this person is an industry person and they’re like ‘Oh, I know about dub and reggae sound.’ They see the potential of charging at the door, you know, such and such. We're like cowboys with speakers, to where it does expose a lot of the fluff. What does he want $600 for? And then, it's like, y’know, tell him to go fuck himself!”
We erupt in laughter for the hundredth time that day. If Darrien hadn’t gotten into curating events and building speaker boxes, he would have made a splash in stand-up. He goes on:
“People always talkin’ ‘bout, ‘oh, this is for the community, I'm throwing this event for the community, but I'm charging $40 at 3am.’ It's like, uhhhh....that's not community! … If you want to rent some speakers and throw an event to make 30% on the dollar, then you can go ahead and do that. There's no foul play in that. … Just don’t call yourself an underground entity. ... With sound system, there's accountability. That's the best way to put it. There's accountability, and a responsibility behind it. It’s a gift just to be able to do this.”
Tumblr media
‘Exposing the fluff’ hits the nail on the head, but Darrien doesn’t stop there. He talks about clubs in Denver turning local promoters’ communities into a product, then turning around and buying artist bookings right out from under them. He references the recent Deadbeats controversy, where the label marketed an anonymous 'underground' artist using messaging about the 'roots of the culture,' only for it to come out later that the artist was a side-project of a mainstream bass music producer. Darrien is “not bound by the music industry to be quiet about” or “turn a blind eye” to the “funny business” he perceives in how it operates and sustains itself. But absolutely none of his opinions come off as moaning or complaining. They’re principled, passionate accounts of his lived experience as a promoter, which serve to counterpoint and help define the role of the sound system to an outsider. When it comes right down to it, the message and the method are what matter most to him and Dem Deya.
“We know what we gotta do. We know what's important to us. So we just gotta do that."
The self-assurance is palpable. And you can feel it when the crew conjures a vibe at an event, keeping their focus on the sound and attendees. Their events transform into more relaxed, community-oriented experiences, where being there becomes more important than being seen. The deejay is still viewed as a guide, artist, and essential piece of the puzzle, but they’re part of the experience, rather than being the experience itself. The attention economy is replaced by groups of people, coming together to form a whole and enjoy good music on good speakers. This space is easy to exist in: intensely creative and expressive, but still low key and uniquely intent on togetherness. Being sober at their Dubamine event felt like second nature to me, rather than some sort of quest, despite the party atmosphere and weed smoke lingering in the air. Speaker stack in the back, people at the front, and Subjet spinning vinyl, gracefully moving from dub tunes into dubstep over time to an enthusiastic crowd.
Dem Deya parties are refreshing, but Darrien isn’t one to toot his own horn about that. He’s humble through and through, refusing to take full credit for events, and when he does perform at something he’s helped curate, he prefers to play early so he can “put the homies on.” This collaborative spirit is embodied in the name of the sound system (often mispronounced ‘dem daiya’ – no vegan cheese here, just tunes!), which he stumbled upon during an acid trip with co-founder Kyler:
“We're like, man, what the fuck we gon’ call this thing, and so, like any couple homies looking for creative inspiration would do, we dropped some acid.......and come up with the name in the first ten minutes! [laughs] But the name Dem Deya is just a play on words: Dem Deya, like, dem over deya, ‘them over there.’ If you’re from the culture in which all of this is talking about, it's easy, it's not even a name. It's almost stupid, kind of silly. But then when you look at it on paper and you're not from that at all, and you say the name Dem Deya, it just sounds like a thing. … I can’t do this by myself—it’s just no longer ‘dem.’ Then it’s just him deya, right? And that’s fucking wack.” His solo deejay gigs, he explains, in addition to the ‘too many styles’ events, are important to him, but ultimately, secondary—done in order to spread awareness about the sound system’s primary offering. “No one's gonna really listen to Darrien Williamson. But people will listen to Scarien, the DJ. … Getting it to that level [where people will listen to you] takes that sort of celebrity-ism, that status, y’know? Otherwise, people don't want to hear what we got to say—they wanna hear Rick Ross say it!” Perhaps this wasn’t clear to him when he moved to Denver, but through trial-and-error, he’s come to understand how to effectively spread this message and get people to show up to events focused on reggae, dub, and dancehall. In fact, Dem Deya recently collaborated to bring international dub heavyweights O.B.F. Sound System and Iration Steppas to the Aztlan Theater in Denver.
Tumblr media
Dem Deya Sound System + Zion Souljahz Sound + Headway HiFi present O.B.F. Sound System & Iration Steppas
Listening to Darrien talk about this milestone event is just about the cutest thing ever. His old soul is completely wrapped up in the joy and validation that came from bringing together all the different people from his journey in music, for an event of this scale, and having it be received so well in the Mile High City. This was a full circle, leveling up moment for him and the crew. Since that show back in March, they’ve sustained the momentum, increasing the resonance of Caribbean and UK sound system culture for people in the West through productions, bookings, and collabs.
“This is what we've been working towards, being able to create the space for people to listen when the music speaks. … Doing all this music stuff within a genuine light and having a peace of mind to do it is one of the biggest..it's the most important thing. Because independence within the music industry is important, independence in your own life is important. I feel like sound system reflects and touches on all these things and that's why I've dedicated my..I guess, life to it, at this point. Because it just does so much for people.”
It’s enough to demonstrate this level of wisdom at such a young age, but to have such dedication to this calling, and to so patiently usher people from overlapping scenes into the rich culture of sound system makes Darrien one of a kind. His ethos of serving the sound system—not the self—is his north star, but it doesn’t just guide his way. It shines a light that allows others to see what he sees in the music, and the people that congregate around it: a great power for good that comes with a great responsibility. 2 Chronicles 29: 25-30. "The Extraction."
Tumblr media
So far, the Temple is thriving, we have our passions and plans mapped out, there is peace in the society regarding what has to be done and who will do it, what kinds of things are disruptive and off limits. These things are made clear to us at an early age, just as they were with Hezekiah, the King of Judah, who achieved Shabbat early in his reign, within the First Year.
For a Yearling to accomplish all of this is extraoardinary. What does he do next?
25 He stationed the Levites in the temple of the Lord with cymbals, harps and lyres in the way prescribed by David and Gad the king’s seer and Nathan the prophet; this was commanded by the Lord through his prophets.
26 So the Levites stood ready with David’s instruments, and the priests with their trumpets.
The Temple Band, manned by Levites, persons who know what they are doing, perform the way David, Gad, and Nathan, the King, the Seer, and the Prophet prescribe.
Cymbals represent the ears. One cannot close the ears to the sound of cymbals crashing.
Harps=The SevThe harp used in the Temple was an instrument of seven strings, as it is stated: “In your presence is fullness [sova] of joy . . .” (Psalms 16:11). Do not read the word as “fullness [sova]” but as seven [sheva].
And in the days of the Messiah it will have eight strings, as it is stated: “For the Leader, on the eighth: A Psalm of David” (Psalms 12:1). On the eighth string. In the World to Come it will have ten strings, as it is stated: “ . . . With an instrument of ten strings and with the lyre, with a solemn sound upon the harp” (Psalms 92:1–4).11en Signs of Mashiach.
7 strings = The seventh letter of the alef-beis is zayin. Its design is the form of a sword. The top of the zayin is the handle, and the vertical leg is the blade. Another interpretation of the zayin’s design is that it represents a crown and a scepter. The zayin thus alludes to power and authority.
8 strings= Ches= the rebuilding of the Temple= the crown and the temple united
10 strings=unity of all Jews with God.
The union of 7, 8, and 10 strings is זחי‎ or Zachi, "to speak loud and clearly". The Cymbal means to listen attentively.
Lyres= they don't tell the truth! Also called Psalters, represent the Ten Inspirations for the Psalms:
The Book of Psalms will reveal numerous chapters attributed to various great personalities. The Talmud enumerates ten authors other than King David.
“David composed the Book of Psalms through ten elders: Adam, Melchizedek, Abraham,1 Moses, Heiman, Yedutun, Asaph, and the three sons of Korach.”2 Furthermore, according to the Midrash, Jacob recited psalms during his 20-year stay in Laban’s home.3
Clearly, many psalms were composed and recited many generations before King David, yet Psalms is popularly known as the book of King David!
The Talmud states that Rabbi Meir would say, “All the praises stated in the book of Psalms were recited by David, as it is stated: ‘The prayers of David, son of Yishai (Beauty, proof God exists), are ended (kalu).’
4 Do not read kalu; rather, read kol elu, ‘all of these’”—which indicates that the entire book of Psalms consists of the prayers of King David.
5 To paraphrase the Yiddish words of Rabbi Shmuel of Lubavitch, "The other said the words of Psalms, but he expressed them.6"
The Torah Tantras of the Ten Psalmists must be revealed. They are:
Adam= a product of the interaction of God with red soil.
Malchizedek=Righteous King with Efficient Social Energy
מלך
The noun מלך (melek) means king, and a king is not merely a glorified tribal chief but the alpha of a complex, stratified society, implying a court and a complex government.
The verb צדק (sadeq) means to be just or righteous; to be efficient with social energy. Adjective צדיק (saddiq) means just or righteous, noun צדק (sedeq) means justice or rightness, noun צדקה (sadaqa) means righteousness.
Abraham=Father of Compassion
Moses="The water and the Sacred Tree."
Heiman=to choose what is right
The verb ימן (yaman), meaning to go or choose the right (Genesis 13:10), or use the right hand (1 Chronicles 12:2).
Yedutun=songs of praise
The plural noun הידות (huyyedot), meaning songs of praise.
Asaph=to harvest from the past, to gather what is planted
The verb אסף ('asap), means to gather or collect, mostly in reference to harvests, and with a connotation of removal. The nouns אסף ('osep), אסיף ('asip), אסף ('asop), אספה ('asepa), אספה ('assupa) and אספסף ('asapsup) all express nuances of the act of gathering, things gathered, collections or storages. Also note the similarities in form with the ספף  סוף  ספה (spp swp sph) cluster of words, which all have to do with the extraction of one continuum from another.
Assir= to bind up, to deliver
Elkanah=What God has given, bind up
The verb קנן (qanan) isn't used in the Bible but it appears to tell of the weaving of many strands into a dynamic and interlocked network. These strands may be reeds and twigs that a bird weaves into a nest, or it may be acts of trade and routes of commerce that together combine into a bustling economy. Noun קן (qen) means nest, and verb קנן (qinnen) means to make a nest.
Abiasaph=The Father of what is Fathered
David= Persistent Beauty
Gad= Sound judgement, especially in the government
Nathan= The Transformer
Everything God instilled in man from the Beginning, we must productize and redeliver through sound government, a working stable social economy, one that is rife with compassion, absent propaganda and slander, full of righteousness, justice, the truth, and excellent educational facilities, all of these bundled up and delivered.
If the government will ensure this happens, our lives will be persistently beautiful and more or less worry free. Each increment of the Capital City that is born during this process automatically transforms the livelihood of the next.
27 Hezekiah gave the order to sacrifice the burnt offering on the altar. As the offering began, singing to the Lord began also, accompanied by trumpets and the instruments of David king of Israel.
Trumpets are the zeitgiests of each generation, the most knowledgeable and profound in their pursuit of the tenets of the religion. This section of the Tanakh means they must also be the happiest, due to the high integrity of their fruits.
28 The whole assembly bowed in worship, while the musicians played and the trumpets sounded. All this continued until the sacrifice of the burnt offering was completed.
29 When the offerings were finished, the king and everyone present with him knelt down and worshiped.
30 King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites to praise the Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. So they sang praises with gladness and bowed down and worshiped.
All this being said, the word Ephesus "the new town, the one in back of this one" the Gematria for the final three verses*, is the result of constant practice, sacrifce, tilling, planting, harvesting, all together called the Extraction of what God hides inside the ground, the weather, the sun, the plants and animals, and working, thriving communities for our benefit.

The Holy Spirit gave me the knowledge to blow His fire into my works, bless them and pray the Word of God in them, So that wherever my work hangs, the atmosphere changes into new wine, fresh oil and springs of living water. (This is a biblical concept)
Wherever my works hang, by being in contact with the new blood covenant of Jesus Christ, the angels of God's Kingdom respond to carry out what I have breathed into them. The atmosphere changes.
All my works are for sale. I do say, when you buy a work at ArtLupin73, you also sow in my company. In this way you support me in undertaking and fulfilling my Divine dreams.
You will be able to monitor what I do with it. Among other things, I will buy a building(s) and recruit people, create a community as I have seen it in a vision.
There will also be a safety net to catch the poor. A safety net for widows. A safety net for problem situations.

The Music of God
John Michael Talbot:
"God is perfect spiritual music. Many of the world's major religions say that God created the universe through music. The Judeo- Christian heritage is no exception. The analogy of a well-tuned harp was already used by the early Church fathers to describe the unity of the Church. But the music they speak of is no mere earthly song. It is profoundly spiritual, and mystical.
In scripture this is seen in the creation accounts of Genesis and John's Gospel. Here God creates through the Spirit in the Word, followed by light, and then form. All else flows from this basic beginning. A pattern of Spirit/sound, light, and form, can be seen in the creation accounts of scripture. The mystics would say that this is God's music. But it is not only the music we can hear with the human ears. This music is the perfect harmony of various waves of created energy in sound, light, and form, all animated by God's creative Spirit.
Sound and light are both simply waves of energy perceived by the two different sense organs of ears and eyes in human beings. Further, even solid physical objects are waves of energy vibrating at various speeds to create a solid form perceptible to the touch. In this all of creation is simply the music of energy waves moving in perfect harmony, proportion, and rhythm.
The mystics say that in the mystical state you can see sound, and hear color. The scriptural accounts of heaven describe a similar state of existence. I believe that this was our original mode, and will be again in Eternity. To some degree it is also possible now through meditation and prayer.
This harmonious music is part of God's very being. God is a perfect harmony of transcendent self-sufficiency and self-diffusive goodness and selfless love. This awesome balance and peaceful harmony is perfectly manifested in the Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is perfect logic, but beyond the grasp of logic alone.
He created humanity in a similar "trinity" in his image in a perfect balance of spirit, soul, and body (I Th. 5: 23). The spirit is our deepest, and most essential spiritual being beyond sensual form, emotions, or ideas. The soul is our cognitional self-aware energy of that deepest essence. It is sometimes called "mind." The body is the sensual and emotional house for soul and spirit. The harmony of God works in us when these three separate, but intimately linked, aspects of our personhood are working in right order and priority.
Originally humanity was in perfect communion with God, within ourselves, and with all creation. There was a total oneness in diversity between all of the various aspects of our own being, all species of animate and inanimate creation, and all individuals of human life. All was perfect concord and peace. All was beautiful music.
But somehow we decided that we could make better music on our own without God. We turned the priority of spirit, soul, body, in reverse, and the world has seemed upside down ever since. Now we operated with the senses and emotions of the body first, followed by the cognitive awareness of the mind, or soul. Unfortunately, the spirit of humanity was lulled to sleep, covered up, and substantially lost in the great feather bed of life. Humanity, and all creation with us, was lost to the devious illness of self that kills our deeper being in the sleep.
All religions seek to get to the root of this problem of discord. They all recognize that something essential has been lost, or covered up. They all point the way back to the perfect harmony of divine music again. They all more or less agree that this can only happen through total death to the old self, and the rebirth of a new person in that original harmony where the spirit is primary, followed by the soul and the body. They often use different language and metaphors to describe the process, but it is very much the same.
Jesus came to fully reestablish that original music of God in compliment to all that has come before or since, and in perfect completion. Rather than only pointing the way to reestablish the original music of God, he actually IS the way, the truth or reality, and the life in His cross and resurrection. This is utterly unique among the religions, and is utterly beyond words, emotions, or senses to describe it, though it includes and fulfills them all.
I invite you to fully enter into this way of Jesus so that our lives may all reestablish this original music of God on the face of this earth. Through meditation and contemplative prayer let go of the discordant noise of your false self, no matter how attached you are to this false self identity. Let your deeper, and real self emerge through the ultimate self emptying of Christ. Then you will hear the music of God everywhere, and in everyone you meet!"
God created the first song thru creation. Music can transcend all barriers that we humans have created against God and each other ...thru all ideologies and divisions. Born in Azerbaijan but incredibly popular in the USSR and modern Russia...Muslim Magomaev has beautiful talent and sings Beauty. May his beautiful music allow us to remember the God and Creator of us all and to forgive and love. Don't forget God 💔🎶🎶💔

Fate and Phantasms #239
Tumblr media
Today on Fate and Phantasms we're playing with fire and getting burned as the god of love and star of @haskamadoneanythingwrong, Kama! She's a Love Cleric to slip something into just about everyone's drink, and an Echo Knight Fighter to call her friends to the party. And by friends I mean extra copies of herself.
Check out her build breakdown below the cut, or her character sheet over here!
Next up: What is up with Chinese tacticians possessing weirdly named English mages? It's not just me, right? That's weird.
Race and Background
Normally we make gods Aasimar here, but you clearly don't have resistance to radiant damage, and there isn't really a race for piles of ash, so we're going Custom Lineage instead. Plus, this way you can choose to be small or medium as you want, pick your own ascension. You still get your Darkvision, and on top of that you pick up an Aberrant Dragonmark, so you can learn one sorcerer cantrip and one first level spell, which you can cast once without a spell slot. (Both use your Constitution). Also, when you cast the spell you can spend a hit die to either deal damage or heal yourself a bit more. We get Friends for better charming and Mage Armor since you really don't wear much armor. There's also stuff that happens at higher levels but that's entirely DM dependent, so it's not my purview.
Turns out dying and being brought back is pretty traumatic, which might explain why you're a Haunted One. This means you get proficiency in Arcana and Survival. Getting atomized and not dying takes a lot of skill.
Ability Scores
We're starting off with your Dexterity being really high. Bows need it, and you need it to get away with wearing that on the battlefield. Your Wisdom is next. That comes from pain, and dear god have you been through pain. Your Charisma is also pretty high, comes with the whole "charming people" thing. Your Constitution is middling. You survived getting turned to ash, but that also made you ash, so... Your Intelligence is neutral. Like all villains, you somehow decided to piss of Chaldea right at the last moment they had to thwart you plans- not very smart of you. Finally, dump Strength. You literally have no muscles. That's not hyperbole, they've all been turned to ash.
Class Levels
Cleric 1: Starting off as a cleric makes you proficient in Wisdom and Charisma saves, as well as the Religion and Persuasion skills. You can butter people up real good, and you're literally a god. Not much else to say here. You also learn how to cast and prepare Spells using your Wisdom. Since you can change your spells every long rest we won't harp too much on which spells to get, but we might bring up particularly fitting spells, alongside your subclass specific spells. Speaking of subclasses, yours is... unusual. Officially, the Love cleric was burned from the record ages ago, only clinging on to existence in the barest sense. Sound familiar? The subclass never even got an official UA release, being rebranded as the Unity and then Peace cleric first. But the OG flavor has enough differences that I feel bringing this one back will fit Kama better. Your first level feature isn't too different, it's still Emboldening Bond. As an action, you can bond together two creatures standing within 30' (including yourself). As long as the bonded creatures are within 30' of each other, they can add a d4 to their attacks, checks, and saves once per turn. It lasts for 1 hour, and you can make a bond once per long rest, or by spending a spell slot. Speaking of spells, pick up the cantrips Guidance and Resistance to guide yourself and resist attackers. You can also use Thaumaturgy to act like the god you are. Your subclass spells are Charm Person and Heroism. The former is self-explanatory: force a wisdom save on a person, and if they fail they're charmed. The latter makes a creature immune to being frightened, and each turn they gain temporary HP. For some other spells to check out: Command commands people to do stuff. Cure wounds is kind of like vampirism if you use it after hurting people, and Shield of Faith adds +2 to your AC for a little bit. Having an armorless AC of 17 at level one is pretty good for a caster.
Cleric 2: The second level of love cleric is where things get... funky. Once per short rest you can Channel Divinity as an action. You can Turn Undead as usual, forcing a wisdom save to make them run away, or you can cause Impulsive Infatuation, forcing a wisdom save on a creature within 30' of you. If they succeed, nothing happens. If they fail, they become charmed for a round, and they have to use their reaction to attack a creature of your choosing. Charming is so much stronger in D&D than FGO. You can also Harness Divine Power, burning Channel Divinity uses to regain spell slots. You can do this a number of times per day equal to the number of CD uses you get each short rest.
Cleric 3: Third level clerics get second level spells, like Enthrall and Warding Bond. The former is very in character, the latter not so much. If you're tired of waiting for the fighter levels to get here, you can also use Spiritual Weapon to make a magic bow and attack people. (It's still a melee weapon, but we can flavor it.) You can also Hold Person for a more FGO-ish charm effect.
Fighter 1: Bouncing over to Fighter makes you good with bows, but you can get even better by taking the Archery fighting style, adding +2 to your ranged weapon attacks. You can also activate a Second Wind as a bonus action. Again, hit someone with your action and use this afterwards for kindasorta vampirism.
Fighter 2: Second level fighters can make an Action Surge once per short rest, adding an extra action to your turn. Yo dawg, I heard you like charming. Now you can charm while you charm.
Fighter 3: At third level of fighter you finally become an Echo Knight, letting you Manifest Echo as a bonus action. This creates a copy of yourself (that counts as an object) near you, and you can attack/ take opportunity attacks through that echo. It's only got 1 HP and dies instantly if it gets too far away, but you can always make another. While it's active, you can spend half your movement to teleport yourself to its location, swapping places with it. You can also Release Incarnation once per, making an extra melee attack with the echo the same action you make a regular attack.
Cleric 4: Okay, that's all the fighter levels we can stand. Back in cleric, you're getting your first Ability Score Improvement, which we're using to pick up the Skill Expert feat. You get proficiency in Deception and Expertise (doubled proficiency) in Persuasion. We can't spare an ASI just for charisma, but this'll help you chat with the best of 'em. You can also Toll the Dead now, since there aren't many cantrips I really want here.
Cleric 5: Fifth level clerics can Destroy Undead, instantly killing undead of CR 1/2 or lower who fail their save. You can also cast third level spells like Beacon of Hope and Hypnotic Pattern. The first really isn't your thing (I mean c'mon, making it harder to get charmed? Eugh.) but the second is way more up your alley. If you want to do more damage, pick up Bestow Curse to do just about anything as long as your DM signs off on it. Or you can use Spirit Guardians or Spirit Shroud to summon more copies of yourself.
Cleric 6: Sixth level clerics get a second use of Channel Divinity per short rest, and you can create a Protective Bond. While the creatures bonded with Emboldening Bond are near each other, they can spend their reaction to give resistance to all damage to the other creature this turn.
Cleric 7: Seventh level clerics get fourth level spells. Aura of Purity is super not in character (again, making it harder to get charmed??), but you can probably flavor Confusion as getting people drunk if you want to. Also check out Banishment to throw people into the Ooku, and Death Ward to give yourself guts.
Cleric 8: Use this ASI to bump up your Wisdom for stronger charms and CD saves. Speaking of, Destroy Undead hits CR 1 creatures now. You can also use your Blessed Strikes to add 1d8 radiant damage to a weapon or cantrip attack once per round.
Cleric 9: Ninth level clerics get fifth level spells, and hoo boy do you like a lot of these. (Turns out literal gods have high-level stuff.) You can use Greater Restoration to make yourself more godlike and unsmirched, or Hold Monster to infatuate any kind of creature, not just humanoids. You can also use Contagion to weaken the resolve of any creature. If they fail three constitution saves at the start of their turn they'll fall under a chosen disease's effect for the duration, up to a week. Each one gives disadvantage to a different stat's checks and saves, with added benefits. I'd suggest using the soft stat ones to simulate the stupid that comes with falling in love. The Intelligence disease also puts the target under the effects of confusion, the Wisdom disease blinds them, and the Charisma disease comes with vulnerability to all damage. (This one's actually really good for bosses if their constitution isn't great, since it'll eat up all their legendary resistances. You can also use Geas for a more straightforward brainwashing, Holy Weapon for a shinier bow, or Flame Strike to trick Shiva into trying to roast you again.
Cleric 10: Tenth level clerics can use Divine Intervention to get just about anything done with the help of their god. There's a 10% chance of it actually working, but if it doesn't you can just try again tomorrow. If it does work you have to wait a week, but at least you get godly powers on your side. And besides, something tells me you'll be sympathetic to your needs. You can also cast Light if you want a shiny bow but don't want to cast a fifth level spell.
Cleric 11: At eleventh level your Destroy Undead bumps up again, and you can cast sixth level spells! Otherworldly Form is the version from the UA, but tbf Kama's already lacking in physicality so we'll take what we can get. You become immune to fire and poison damage, can't be poisoned, can fly, get a +2 to AC, can attack twice per action, and your attacks are magical, dealing damage and aiming through your Wisdom instead of anything else. Otherwise, use Harm to harm things. This forces a constitution save to halve the incoming damage, and if they fail the save their HP is reduced by that same amount.
Cleric 12: Max out your Wisdom this ASI for better spells, saves, and I guess even arrows now.
Cleric 13: Thirteenth level clerics can cast seventh level spells. Banishment only throws someone in the Ooku for a minute, now you can use Plane Shift to leave them there permanently! You can also Regenerate missing limbs (or entire bodies, I guess), and create a Temple to the Gods. Or one god in particular, I don't think you're on good terms with most of the pantheon.
Cleric 14: Destroy Undead hits CR 3 creatures now. It ain't much, but it's honest work.
Cleric 15: We don't want that many eighth level spells, but Holy Aura is okay. Creatures within 30' of you that you choose glow and have advantage on all saves, and other creatures get disadvantage to attack them. If a fiend or undead hits those creatures anyway, they have to make a constitution save or be blinded.
Cleric 16: Use your last ASI to bump up your Dexterity for a higher AC and better archery usually.
Cleric 17: Your ultimate level unlocks your ultimate spells, like using Astral Projection to mess with people without ever getting near them, or Gate to create doorways to the Ooku wherever you want to put them. Destroy Undead hits CR 4 creatures now, and your bonds create Enduring Unity, spreading the range or your bonds to the entire plane the creatures are in. Also, if either bonded creature drops to 0 HP, the other gets a bunch of extra effects for a minute, or until the other creature has positive HP again. They get advantage on all attacks, checks, and saves, resistance to all damage, and can spend an action to use their hit dice on the downed partner. So bond with a rat, konk it on the head at the start of combat, and turn into a god. Rinse and repeat for every fight ever. I can see why this class never got a proper release now.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
With a maxed out spellcasting stat and expertise in persuasion, you're really good at getting people to like you. Let other people do the dirty work for you, you've got an Ooku to run.
You're also surprisingly hard to hit, with a base AC of 16 that can get all the way up to 20 with divine shield and otherworldly form. On top of that, you can force disadvantage with Holy Aura, and block the damage that gets through with your protective bond.
Speaking of, bonding in this version is pretty good at high levels, making you a terror if you survive long enough to abuse that enduring unity.
Cons:
The love cleric technically does not exist in D&D since it never saw an official release, so you might have more trouble than usual convincing your DM to let you use it.
If an enemy can cut through your bullshit you're really easy to take down thanks to barely having over 100 HP. That means there's a pretty good chance you might get disintegrated... again.
Having only one attack per round really hurts you ability to be a damage dealer, even with stuff like Blessed Strikes and Holy Weapon. It might be a good idea to just stick with messing with people's hearts.

Some of the characters I have designed for my Legend of Zelda D&D campaign.
Zelda (Cisgender - She/Her - Bisexual) The gentle, kind-hearted, and scholarly princess of Hyrule. While she wants nothing more than peace and unity, keeping the panic of her country under control is a task that requires constant vigilance and attention. Originally disheartened by the lack of response to her pleas to the Goddesses and uncooperativeness of the civilians, she became hopeless and despondent. Now that a possible opportunity has shown itself, her determination has shined through and she will not let it go. She places immense trust in your group and regrets having to keep information hidden, but will do anything in her power to help.
Pudge AKA “The Bartender” (Cisgender - He/Him - Heterosexual) A middle-aged man with an intimidatingly broad and muscular build, he runs the inn and pub named The Flushed Fairy, which is a hub for the disorderly downtown residents of Castle Town. He runs his establishment with a strict hand and has no emotions other than "angry." He refuses to give out his name due to the risk of it impacting his tough persona, simply preferring to be called "The Bartender" by people who aren't regulars. Despite his common phrase of "As long as they can pay, I'll let them in," it seems he may be a little more soft than he lets on.
Mia (Transgender - She/Her - Heterosexual) One of the 18-year old twin daughters of Pudge, she works with her sister as a bar maiden and provides live entertainment on weekends. Mia is known for her bubbly and exuberant personality, and can play the piano, violin, and lute.
Tia (Cisgender - She/Her - Bisexual) One of the 18-year old twin daughters of Pudge, she works with her sister as a bar maiden and provides live entertainment on weekends. Tia is known for her soft-spoken, eloquent, and mature personality, and can play the piano, flute, and harp.
Velt (Nonbinary - They/Them - N/A) A painfully shy and near-silent Twili child who is lost and says they are searching for their brother. For now they are in Pudge's care at The Flushed Fairy and have made quite the bond with Mia, Tia, and even Arkin.
Arkin (Cisgender - He/Him - Heterosexual) Known as the token drunkard of The Flushed Fairy, it's rare to find him conscious and rarer yet to find him sober. Pudge says that when Arkin's sober he is rather clever, though it hardly ever happens. It has, however, become more common since Velt arrived at the pub. At a glance he seems to be missing a hand and a few toes, though it's unclear what happened to cause such a misfortune.
Tontori (Cisgender - She/Her - N/A) The snarky leader of the Kokiri who takes no guff and is not willing to trust outsiders. Due to a threat from a band of Skull Kids, their ancient power was stolen. She said that if your group is able to retrieve it, then you could borrow it. When she saw that Ravio was chosen by the Ocarina of Time to wield it, she was frustrated but begrudgingly let your party keep it.
Creak (N/A - He/Him - N/A) The friendly Lizalfos who is the 'chief' of sorts in a lizal shantytown located in Ludfo's bog. He's a friendly and chipper fella, though still wary of Hylian guerrilla fighters who would prefer that all monsters were dead. Rather than resorting to violence they have decided to scavenge and learn how to live normally, hoping that the Hylians will one day realize they are no longer a threat and welcome them.

Like all celestial/planetary spirits, Venus is both masculine and feminine in order to maintain balance. In ancient times, humans associated the Morning Star as masculine and the Evening Star as feminine. Venus and Earth are both strongly connected, basically being “sister planets”. The Moon/Luna focusses and mirrors Venus’ influence.
Venus/Hagith Speaks:
“Love is a light that opens. I am the seed that is put inside. If truth is too hard to be told, if solitude is too dark to endure, if exhaustion is too deep to cross, then I am here for you. Close your eyes, I am a river of light flowing down to you. Don’t try to deserve, don’t try to take shape, be silent. For me to be with you, you do not need to achieve, to battle, to win, to conquer, to want, to endure, to sustain - nothing needs doing for me to be with you. Mine is the light that opens. Mine is the seed of life. Mine is the opening of the mouth. Mine is what grows unseen. I am the web of life, I am the loom of all beginnings, within me I carry the seeds of present and future. My light is life that runs across the sky on the threads of my web. Love is a light that opens and doesn’t confine. Mine is the seed of life that is put inside. My reagent is the vesting, the armoring, the being covering in bark. My deeds are always naked. My force is subtle and easily hindered, I do not pierce. I don’t open what does not want opening. I am tender and patient and will wait for desire to arrive. I am the force of the loom of life. My work takes place in silence, I don’t make any noise. The threads of the loom unite, love opens, I lay myself down and life emerges. I come and go unseen for I am blind.”

Melaine Dalibert — Night Blossoms (Elsewhere)
Tumblr media
night blossoms by Melaine Dalibert
Do schoolchildren still read The Wind in the Willows? They should. Listening to this music brings to mind the tiny cleansing breeze proffered by Pan. It ensured, following the little otter’s rescue, that Mole and Rat weren’t to remember their encounter with that fabled piper at the gates of dawn, mitigating the impression which would most certainly have shaped their lives and burdened their hearts. Only the impression is left, as with so many of the finest moments on pianist and composer Melaine Dalibert’s Night Blossoms. As with his other releases, Dalibert breaks boundaries difficult to define but easy to hear, rendering and dissolving their polarities with a new iteration of his already luminous language.
Quietly, with determination and a form of actualization obviously won through strength of will, Dalibert is reshaping his conceptions of tonal center and, more important, of development, both within a piece of music and between works. His new disc demonstrates that these changes encompass sounds well beyond our analytical abilities, given the current state of vocabularies relating to Western European Art Music. Watch that language fail to describe even the subtlest sounds here, like those resulting from the piano sonority governing the first three pieces. They were recorded on a muted upright, affording a drastically modified sonic picture in which the piano is transformed into a harp, a distant dulcimer or a keyboard instrument from another age. In combination with the music’s algorithmic nature, familiar to any Dalibert devotee, this timbral shift opens onto an entirely new vista of the moods resulting from tone and overtone in vibration and flux. The overtones dissolve in a way that conjures ghosts of their fundamental pitches, rapping them in a kind of doppelganger mystery, each a cosmos in creation before being discarded. Of particular timbral interest is the shimmering “Eolian Scape.” The overtonal melody generated from the rapidly repeated opening pitch is then augmented by the emergent and piquantly shifting tonal centers. While each morphing rhythm is clear and present, the muted strings release richly perfumed clouds of modal harmony, as on the gently undulating “Windmill.” The bittersweet merging of sonorities carries over to the album’s second half, especially when the music is more obviously combinatorial, as with the interlocking two-piano texture of the canonic “Sisters.”
Bookending “Sisters,” we hear two pieces distilling and resituating Dalibert’s art via collaboration. Its minutely carved steps and glacial arcs receive electroacoustic input from David Sylvian, who also titled the album and provided the artwork. In “Yang” and “Yin,” even the polarizing concept of collaboration does the music’s unity little justice. Each piece is limited to a scale — “Yin” pentatonic and “Yang” diatonic — but is then bathed in what Dalibert calls electronic shadows. That they certainly are, inhabiting the tone environments in each key stroke, but the relationship transcends even the light-and-shadow duality. It seems that each “shadow” utterance derives from the piano recordings, each manifestation placed in time-altering juxtaposition with the others to form a network of stillness creating but simultaneously defying motion and gravity. The protoplasmic harmonies opening “Yin” ooze and elide, only gradually settling, and never quite completely, on the piano’s rich pentatonic domain. A bit of dissonance is constant, or at least recurrent, shadows in the light of discovery and translucent revisitation. “Yang”’s electroacoustic alter-ego combines literal note repetition with the distant mechanical workings of an existence only just audible, a reverberant ghost in various states of non-action.
Beyond the serialized elements of action and interaction, bolstering the hum, buzz and softly luminous articulations, only foregrounded at a key moment in the music’s wisely slow unfolding, is the sound of the room itself. It’s most readily apparent after it has vanished, about a minute before “Yin”’s conclusion. A nearly imperceptible but palpable lifting occurs, as if a door opens, a pane of glass has been rolled back or walls have suddenly dissolved. In that moment of clear light, a reflection remains whose import eschews time and verbiage. Its substance distills and embodies but never reiterates all preceding events. In its elastic seconds resides a frozen moment of gentle exhalation, subtly sweeping away all but the peace of imminent silence.
