Hi, if anyone knows how to fix a key falling off WITH it's scissor switch please let me know?
Do I need to buy a new switch? Could the hooks be damaged?
Is this smth that can be fixed by ordering new parts and replacing them myself or do I need a professional to handle it? What kinda repair technician should I be seeking help from?
The E key pops off if I press the top half even lightly. The A key feels a little loose but hasn't come off.
ughguhughughughghgh i wanted to get replacement parts to make my VR headset usable again but the power cords i need are out of stock!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on!!!!!! nobody owns VR how da fuck are these things out of stock!!!!!!!!!
Fun fact: If you have a visual type project that requires rope that looks Nice (like, hanging a banner on the front of a colorful con table perhaps), shibari ropes are strong, durable, easy to work with, and come in any color you could ever possibly need. They're also washable so the dye won't come off on other materials, and a lot of shops will cut them to custom lengths!
Nobody (who doesn't also participate in these activities themself lmao) will ever know and you can get all the cool colorful rope you want for any project forever tell your friends
Need everybody to look at this sickass mini spindle i just whittled.
It's from a small stick i found that had worms in the bark (hence the shapes at the base), dried sap (red streak) and then some incredible spalting (gray streaks, early sign of decay but doesnt affect functionality). And then on the inner rings little speckles, which i'd guess are vascular structures but im not an arborist so i cant say for sure. The wood was also obligingly easy to carve, so i was able to do some delicate shaping on the bulb even though it's a very small spindle.
Haven't used it yet, hoping it spins as well as the other mini spindle. Even if it doesnt that would be ok tho, im so happy with the form and the beauty of the wood that it would make a good art piece.
Had another science based natemance detective idea.
Knowing that Nate really dislikes modern tech does make it hard to share some aspects of the detective’s daily life. But what if they picked and dabbled in a few things in such a way Nate understood technology better than some regular people?
It’s settled that he doesn’t enjoy phones. They are developed in a way that a society who grows with them understands. It’s grown so fast and moved so quickly away from general learning resources that he doesn’t care much for learning them either.
What if the detective just, showed him technology that wasn’t so far advanced to conform to social needs. Like learning an early coding language (lol) and setting up a storage server for him to keep high quality scans of his valuable books that are falling apart from age and use? He doesn’t need to build anything, just maintain aesthetics and documents, do a small amount of scripting when necessary.
And what if he used Windows 95 to access it?? 😭 It’s not as new, pretty intuitive, and can be easily managed. On an old Compac frankestein-ed with a nicer monitor. Maybe Nate remembers a familiar model from back when they had dial up internet and computer labs at the agency. “Oh! I remember this, back when I used it once to print off map quest.”
It isn’t his go to for all his reading materials, and certainly cannot beat the feeling of a good book in his hand; but it shines a light into the detectives world and what they’re capable of.
need to shell out for a new laptop before the end of the year - for a lot of reasons but mainly bc support ending for win8.1 makes fixing the current beast rather pointless :/ (and. admittedly. there is a lot to fix. she's old and she has suffered.)
but my current beastie is from the last gen of laptops with a disc drive and the thought of using an external/usb disc drive is enough to make me cry tears of blood
My little baby avocado is 9 months old and just got his permanent pot. There's no way I'm going to be able to get a bigger pot than this nor move it once it gets bigger. At less than a year old, he's already taller than most avocado trees are at three years. Now I just need to get some rolling stands for the larger pots and work (yet again) on tidying up the yard and rearranging the pots.
"Governments May Spy on You by Requesting Push Notifications from Apple and Google"
The relevant components can be removed from Android devices by the end user if they want to, as Android users can remove any software component they want, then choosing to only install apps that use other push-notification mechanisms than through Google's "Firebase Cloud Messaging" such as for example UnifiedPush (@unifiedpush).

Okay let's hold our horses I think the hotfix is for the in-game crashes and not the loading screen freezing
Hotfix for the people who can get into the game should not be crashing anymore (apparently one crash slipped thru according to other tweets of his, so it's not like fool-proof, but it should still be more stable), ADM graphics issue not solved
fellows at a lab approved my request for 24/7 access so now I just have to go through orientation this week so I can make stickers AND buttons whenever I want to 😙
university is so dumb tho the faculty will be like "guys USE your RESOURCES all your MONEY is going into this high tech" and said high tech requires lengthy steps in order to have any access to them at all
