thinking abt frost and their development with them hiding their identity as a cog - it's always been basically a big joke, after all this lore and 'au' with them isn't very serious and is very jokes (though some of the more personal or detailed things mean a lot to me, especially the allan/cathal/frost/spam/hr/freakson goofy family dynamic)

but I just think it's so funny how they went from careless but still careful to realizing nobody cares as a case of convenient plot armor. like oh no wait we can't do that the toons will know we're cogs. We (spam + frost) gotta be careful though the cogs don't know we're toons. we're in this middle ground where we're FUCKED OVER

but they find toons and cogs they love who love them back and frost just had their whole careless development and they just. Don't care now like all the oil stains and only ever talking to cogs that they were worried about in the past it seems to be a joke to them too. as long as like the resistance doesn't know, they're fine

And if they were to be sorta harassed away from presenting as toons and being around toons they have a massive safety net with the cogs. canonically this would never make sense but it's a self insert au for myself and my friend group, so like whatever we want to happen can happen it's goofy it's cheesy it's nice it's very seperate from canon but it's FUN like I'm aware and like. they barely do shit thats like bad bad theyre just silly goofy frost max bites you then does a prank they dont do evile. they dont even got normal job)

Plus frost especially doesn't have to worry about cogs seeing them as a toon and getting attacked either this fucking thing is a menace with maybe a slightly oversized ego even if they get fucked up in a battle they're probably gonna pretend it didn't happen (while everyone else laughs) boy they scare any flunky with those teeth

like it's very unrealistic but it's so goofy and fun just watching this just. goofy loud motherfucker do whatever they want and do pranks and be a menace. it's fun to just have a character to mess with around non seriously but goooood the more private dynamic stuff is so good I mention it in doodles

them mirroring allan with showing off son everywhere and being very proud of him. their dynamic with spam of kinda being the lead sibling getting into trouble and being loud with empty threats with spam just being like 'uh huh yeah' about it because frost wouldn't do it. frost is a very fail character but in a swag way. their whole 'this weird fucking thing that perplexes me I need to know more about them now we got something fruity going on that isn't ever disclosed because it's entertaining on stage but also frost never says shit' with hr (they're the Fucking Thing), them being able to keep cathal company in some times lifting his mood and motivation up whenever he's too dismotivated or. like just depressed for stuff. more reason to do things when you got goofy siblings to do things with. Especially frost being the opposite energy like they have energy levels equal to graham like those two constantly babble!!

Another dynamic!! The rivalry with Graham but like. there's still some slight care bc mole pace flint is canon here. That's their boss and the guy dating their clubs leader and one of their closest friends also like. but also they will be tryna fight each other in small goofy ways and try to one up each other like 💀💀💀 the girls r fighting. UGH will never not be mad how they tried to water down Lusamine. She abandoned her own daughter so she could chase after aliens while calling her ugly and less beautiful I hate her so much. A lot of people point out that Lillie and Nihilego are designed off of each other but few point out Lusamine did that on purpose. She was so convinced her daughter couldnt compare to some alien she was obsessed with that she intentionally dressed Lillie as her to make her “look better”. Thats why Lillie’s new look shw made for herself is so IMPORTANT to her she called it her Z-POWERED FORM IT MADE HER FEEL POWERFUL IF YUO HATE HER YOU WILL EXPLODE!!!! LOOK HOW MUCH HAPPIER SHE IS..

Dont even get me started on Gladion and Guzma. Guzma was willing to jump through an ultra wormhole for Lusamine all because she was the only important person to praise his battling without trying to force him to conform to Alolan tradition. Ive seen people try and deny what happened to him as a kid and it baffles me. People dont act the way he does without some serious problems. i feel so awful for him. Morally confusing as he may be he made his own family. Guzma took in Gladion bc Lusamine was so unsafe to be around that he had to rebel and run away. Guzma understood that. but he still wasnt coping right so he still looked up to her bc of that support he never got Maybe im looking too deep into it but i think Wimpod/Goliospod may be a metaphor for his growth as well. Same with Type: Null/Silvally, but thats more obvious bc its a friendship evo.

Pirate au

Ingo and Emmet are noblemen/maybe just very well off lads

And they're forced to attend a very fancy banquet with Ghetsis at his sea side estate (i'd imagine him being a very corrupt aristocrat and the twins cannot turn down the invite)

And it is nice. The food tastes great. The drinks are great. The company is so-so.

Ingo feels a little lost. His life is great and he is grateful to have it and have a successful business with the railroad system. Emmet can see it in his eyes that his brother seems a little more lonely than usual, and Ingo insists he's fine, he's having a grand time with just his brother for company, but Emmet tries to play wingman at least for his entertainment

But then, a crash comes through one of the windows, the lights and candles go out.

And someone shouts 'PIRATES' and the party turns into chaos

Ingo loses Emmet in the crowd and he tries to find him, but then one of the pirates corners him. But they have a very peculiar mask on, one resembling , and their white hair glows in the dim light of the murky sky

And they're leering at him, a saber in hand. "Ooh, you don't look like like ghetsis's pals,"

And before Ingo could beg to be let go, one of their crewmates rushes them. "Guards are on their way, we gotta go!" And they look at Ingo and he could see their smirk behind his smile.

Before he knows it he's being thrown over someone's shoulder, taken to the side of a cliff and landing in a rowboat on the way to a discrete pirate ship

Basic idea is: Team Skull are a bad of pirates but Gris takes on a role of branching out the crew into international waters. (they're good pirates they only steal from the rich) and they kidnap Ingo thinking that maybe he's worth a lot of ransom.

No one ever sees Gris's face behind the mask, and Ingo, while a prisoner, is permitted to help around the ship and roam around while supervised.

It ends up leading to Ingo enjoying life on the seas a little, and befriends Gris even though he really wants to get back to his brother.

And eventual Gris slips up and Ingo see's his face and it's scarred and marked, but he sees their smile for the first time and his heart skips a little.

Fellas, I'm thinking about my silly little self insert for Pokémon Ultra Sun. They're just there for a vacation and to possibly start their life over and end up "adopting" these two kids (Hau and Lillie) as their siblings and end up falling for Guzma like a dumbass.

Okay one thing I wanted to touch upon yesterday was how I'm noticing that a lot of pokemon villains do what they do out of love. And when I say love I mean love towards something. I dunno if that explains it well but here me out:

Volo is the most recent case, he loves Hisui and wants to end it's suffering, leading him to do what he did.

Rose loves Galar ( also it's clear that Oleana loves Rose. Romantically? Platonically? Who cares, she loves him)

Lusamine, at least in usum, cared for Alola to try and protect it

Guzma freaking loves his crew and will protect them.

Lysandre loved Kalos and the world and thus was disgusted when it became "filthy"

Maxie and Archie, despite their differences, loved Hoenn and wanted to see it grow into what they thought was fit ( Archie wanted pokemon of the sea to have a better place to live, and vice versa with Maxie and humans)

N clearly loves pokemon and everything he has done was for them.

Hell, the team rocket executives in hgss/gsc loved their boss so much to try and get him back.

The only villains that don't really share this love are Ghetsis , Giovanni and Colress imo. Okay. Well. I think Giovanni does care for his grunts, but it's not what's motivating him, I mean.

Edit: So I've been given some points about Colress and Giovanni! Colress loves his science, which drives him to do a lot of questionable things. The reason why I didn't include him at first was because unlike the others science is....science. I really don't know how to explain it, but the love I had in mind was more... personal? Emotional? Though, again, when you really think about it, science is what drives Colress, so I guess I'll give it to him here.

I will fully admit that I don't see Giovanni's love for anything that influences what he does, with the exception of money and power. That being said, Giovanni in the games has shown to care for Silver in his goodbye, promising to come back when he can revive the team rocket. That ...never happened, but the thought at the moment was clear. Again, I really don't think Giovanni's love for his son was what caused him to build a team rocket. He wants to show his son the fruits from his endeavors, sure, but Silver being the motivation seems far fetched in my opinion ( also this is referring to Giovanni). This applies to Mewtwo ( I've always seen the two having more of a mutual agreement than a powerful friendship, though a bond is a bond). What motivates Giovanni that isn't money or power? It's not Silver ( I think) , so is it his team? Maybe! I don't know much about Giovanni, so please know all of this is pretty biased.

Edit #2: IMPORTANT I FORGOT CYRUS. Cyrus is very complicated. Cause compared to Volo, who effectively tried to do the same thing, Cyrus seems more inherently selfish with a destain for humanity, while Volo's seems more just and out of love. In a very very simplified way of saying it, Cyrus is a man who wants to be alone. Him wanting to erase the world of emotion is very much for himself and no one else. However, there's that conversation in Platinum that begins to put a crack in this. Cynthia rightfully says that Cyrus could just fuck off to who knows where and be alone. Cyrus refutes this, saying he can't leave the world in such a state with spirit and emotion. Let's be real here. Cyrus could have very well just isolated himself. But he didn't! Why? Because of humanity. I think this is him showing that he cares, even if it's very twisted and comes from a place of supposed hatred( or Cyrus would just say he feels nothing. Boy, if you really felt nothing, why are you doing this? Dork)

I also didn't mention SM Lusamine! Mainly because I don't have the game anymore ( I lost my cartridge:( ), so I was only going off the memory of her just. Being an asshole to her kids and being obsessed with the UB. Which is still present in USUM, but I didn't consider why she was obsessed with the UB. Mohn. Lusamine loves Mohn so much that it drives her insane. She latched onto the Ultra Beasts, the thing that was last is connected to her husband. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but this goal of finding her husband eventually got lost as she became more and more obsessed with the ultra beast. I could be wrong on that, but that's how I remember it. But I still think it counts because Lusamine's whole thing is "love" so to speak. A mother's love, love for your family, finding people that will "love" you, etc.

The only person who doesn't have any type of love is Ghetsis. He only cares about himself really, but that's not the theme I was going for here so. Yeah.

it's the perfect time to say this - i LOVE team flare's theme in general - I first heard it during my battle with lysandre in ultra sun (though sadly I would know by then that lysandre is the villain for xy) (i chose to be very blind for xy but this spoiled it, but I don't mind hehe) and was curious to hear the actual vs lysandre theme for xy and I LOVED it as well. now that I hear the normal team flare grunt battle music (because I'm playign xy) it's even better i am bathing in their ost right now

Dark type specialists are interesting to me.

Actually, any trainer that specializes in one type interests me, because I believe that the trainer reveals a lot about their personality, morals, passions and beliefs through the type that dominates their team of Pokémon. All of the elements have positive and negative aspects; you can have a water-type specialist like Kofu who represents the bounty of the ocean, how it feeds us, how we rely on it for food. At the same time, we see Team Aqua's Archie as a symbol of all that we fear about the sea: all consuming waves, storms, drowning, being stranded.

There's no such thing as a "bad" type, but I believe that specific Pokémon types have more stigma than others. Ghost, Poison of course, but I'm going to focus on the Dark type right now.

All of the antagonistic teams across the board have grunts, admins and leaders that use dark types; dark type Pokemon are aggressive attackers, and prominently have the Intimidate ability. Characters such as Grimsley, Nanu and Piers are heavily implied to be social loners, struggle with their moral compass, and are more often than not, seen as less-than-savory in their personalities.

Even NPC characters such as punks, delinquents and street thugs are usually seen carrying dark type Pokémon in their squad. What im saying is that these trainers have a tendency to become criminals.

Dark-type specialists seem to lean morally grey, or chaotic. These characters are using Pokémon that they can relate to, tame efficiently and remain in sync with. To understand a dark type means to know what it's like to be in sullen, deep, overwhelming feeling.

Since prehistoric days, we as humans have feared the dark. It's the unknown. It's a factor we cannot predict. Anything can be in the dark-- things are hiding in there. Are they hiding from larger beasts that are stalking the shadows-- or are THEY using the black corners as the predators, waiting to strike? You're only safe in the dark if you know how to use your teeth and surrender to some of your base, primal instincts.

I'm rambling about all of this because Giacomo as a dark-type specialist is so interesting to me. He's not-- BAD by the standards of other Pokémon antagonists. Clearly the kid is loyal to his friends, his team's cause, and knows when to back down and stop. Here's the thing though: plenty of other terrible people are also overly loyal to their friends and their cause to a fault. (Team Rocket, Team Flare, etc etc.)

What I'm saying is that the kid is decent in attitude, but he's using dark types for a reason. He's smart, terribly smart; he was counsil president after all, wrote up the code of conduct for Team Star and got them to listen. He's a good trainer, Giacomo has a Kingambit for fuck's sake, that isn't an easy Pokémon to evolve up, let alone work alongside. He plays dumb and acts immaturely because he IS still just a teenager. But he's not afraid to be manipulative and cunning in order to get what he wants; zero impulse control means that he's going to follow his base instincts and do what he needs to win, to be safe and to be sure that he has the advantage over someone. He chases dopamine. He chases thrill. He dislikes adults, doesn't trust them at all. At the same time, he takes the validation of an adult and runs with it.

He's such a toss up. He has the potential to become a really, really awful person as an adult. Giacomo is easily manipulated, and if he believes what he is doing can potentially help his friends, he's not going to question it because of the poor impulse control. Or, he can turn out to be a brilliant trainer who uses his knowledge to overwhelm opponents as a gym leader. It all depends on the adults who wind up surrounding him, and the choices he makes on his own. (Think Anakin Skywalker; giving in to the light side or the dark side.)

But at the end of the day, he IS a dark type specialist, and he isn't above playing dirty and being shady, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Giacomo will never be a "good person" by accepted societal standards.
