gunn was the hero of ats in the truest sense of the word he was in it to protect innocent people since he was a child fighting for his own life with no powers and no resources and no knowledge of the supernatural and he stuck to that throughout. in s5 they almost try to act like gunn adapted to wolfram and hart so easily bc he gained personal advantages through it but there was one line about him opening an orphanage for children who's parents were killed by vampires and they didn't linger over it but i knew. gunn is still saving his friends and his sister and his long-dead child self, he's protecting the innocent like he's always been.

Lindsey likes to talk about how Angel can't jusge his crimes because Angel doesn't understand poverty (even though Angel did live in a sewer and eat rats for a few decades) but what about Gunn? He was far from well off but still dedicated his life to putting himself in danger and trying to help others.
