In accordance with @gritsandbrits’ permission, I now present to you...
G.I. JOE INCORRECT QUOTES!!!!
(Also, I censored the swears. Sorry, I don’t believe in using vulgarities to be funny.)
----
Steeler: What's worse than a heartbreak?
Spell-Lunky: Stepping on a cat's tail and not being able to explain that you're sorry.
----
Law, about Steeler: He’s speaking some kind of French.
Spell-Lunky: Let me handle it. I speak Spanish. It's the same thing.
----
Steeler: HEY HEY HEY! DON’T TOUCH THOSE!
Law, touching a figurine: Why? What’s wrong with touching a doll?
Steeler: THAT IS NOT A DOLL! This is a figurine, thank you very much.
Spell-Lunky, from afar: IT’S JUST A STIFF DOLL!
Law: FIGURINE MY BUTT! IT’S JUST A STIFF DOLL— as said!
Steeler: I hate all of you. That is a limited edition figurine I got from a conventio— Steeler: *Drops figurine on the ground*
Steeler: —n. It was $100; all my money just went down the drain.
----
Genevieve Colton: Since we're in a relationship now, your clothes are my clothes too. Don't ask me why I have your shirt on, this is our shirt.
Duke: Fine, but when I come strutting in with your fuzzy socks, I don't want to hear squat.
----
Duke: Okay, I’m going to get the wedding cake.
Genevieve Colton: Perfect, while you do that I’ll check on the ring bear.
Duke: ...
Duke: You mean ring bearER, right?
Genevieve Colton: ...
Duke: Look me in the eyes and tell me you are not going to bring a dangerous wild animal to our wedding.
----
Genevieve Colton: Duke is playing hard to get.
Genevieve Colton: Little does he know, I'm a master at playing hard to get rid of.
----
Gung-Ho: What are you getting Siren Call for the holidays?
Tunnel Rat: I don't know. It's kind of hard buying a gift for your partner when they already got everything they could've ever wanted when they married you. So I'm not sure yet.
Nitelite: I'm getting Siren Call a divorce lawyer.
----
Nitelite: I'm so happy, I could kiss you!
Ripcord: Um...Neat.
*later*
Ripcord, lying face down on his bed: I said "Neat," Siren Call. Who says neat these days? It's not neat to say neat but I said it anyways because I'm stupid.
Siren Call, reading a book: Don't beat yourself up too much, Ripcord. Everyone gets nervous sometimes. Remember what I did when Tunnel Rat confessed his love for me?
Ripcord: Didn't you thank him?
Siren Call: *closes the book and looks at the ceiling* I stupidly thanked him.
----
Nitelite: How is the most beautiful person in the world?
Tunnel Rat: *blushing* I—
Gung-Ho, butting into the conversation: Siren Call is perfect, thanks for asking.
(I am now suddenly shipping Gung-Ho and Siren Call XD)
----
Storm Shadow: I think I'm falling for you.
Risa: Then get up.
----
Storm Shadow: Hey, Risa, what do you think it would be like if we had kids?
Risa: What would it be like? Inconvenient, mostly.
Storm Shadow: No, I mean, what would they be like, the kids? You ever think about it?
Risa: Can't really say I have.
Storm Shadow: You know, for someone as eccentric as yourself, you can be boring sometimes.
Risa: Sorry, Storm Shadow. For what it's worth, I'm picturing them now. A boy and a girl. Two perfect little freaks of nature raised by people who've clearly got no business bringin' up anybody.
(Man, this generator is savage...)
----
Risa: Valentine’s day is just a consumerist holiday that holds no real value other than drive people insane buying heart shaped chocolates for their significant others and pos-
Storm Shadow: I wrote you a poem.
Risa, already crying: You did?
----
Storm Shadow: I’ve been dropping her the most insanely obvious hints for like a year now. No response.
Risa: Wow. She sounds stupid.
Storm Shadow: But she’s not. She’s really smart actually. Just dense.
Risa: Maybe you need to be more obvious? Like, I don’t know… “Hey! I love you!”
Storm Shadow: I guess you’re right. Hey Risa, I love you.
Risa: See! Just say that!
Storm Shadow: Holy *Japanese swearing*.
Risa: If that flies over her head then, sorry Storm Shadow, but she's too dumb for you.
Storm Shadow: Risa.
----
(They use ASL for these next few)
Silent Knight: How high are you?
Snake Eyes: Mm, I don’t know how to say it in feet.
Spirit: No, she’s asking what drugs are you on.
Snake Eyes: Oh, antidepressants, why?
----
Snake Eyes: We’re playing Scrabble. It’s a nightmare.
Spirit: Scrabble? Scrabble’s great.
Snake Eyes: Not when you’re playing with Silent Knight, it’s not. She puts in words like “ephemeral” and I put in “dog.”
----
Silent Knight: Which way did Snake Eyes go?
Spirit: Well, based on the direction of the wind, the broken sticks in the corner, and the slight disturbance in the dirt, I'd guess he went left.
Silent Knight: You could really figure it out from that?
Spirit: No, you idiot, Snake Eyes sent me a text. See?
----
Roadblock: Guys, Shawnee is missing.
Heavy Duty: Good.
----
*Casually in the Middle of a High Stakes/Dangerous Situation*
Heavy Duty: How do you eat pickles?
Roadblock: What do you mean?
Heavy Duty: I mean, there's a whole process. It's not like you can grab them from the jar with your hand, because it's cold and the juice burns if you have a cut, plus, it's pretty unsanitary. And you can't use a spoon because you'll have to scoop it out, and it'll be way too difficult to grab more than three or four without taking 10 minutes along with half the brine in the jar, even if it's one with holes.
Roadblock: Yeah, that's why you use a fork.
Heavy Duty: Okay, sure, but what if you don't have one of the big ones clean? It's weird to use a small one. But there is always one of those smaller sharp knives clean.
Roadblock: But the straight edge doesn't really fit the cylindrical shape, and you have to make sure you don' t break it, it's too much work.
Heavy Duty: It makes me feel like I deserve the pickles though. Like, "Yeah, I did it. That's right. Good job me." It's empowering. But even after that, it's not like you can use a bowl.
Roadblock: I get that, it's not ascetically pleasing.
Heavy Duty: Exactly! And it looks weird if you don't entirely fill the bowl, but you also can't eat that many. My solution: Use a mug.
Roadblock: *Nods in agreement*
Shawnee: That is all very interesting, BUT WE'RE TRYING NOT TO DIE RIGHT NOW! USE YOUR LIMITED ATTENTION SPANS AND FOCUS!
Heavy Duty: Sheesh, okay.
Roadblock: Quit yelling at us already.
----
Store Worker: Would a “Heavy Duty” please come to the front desk?
Heavy Duty, arriving at the desk: Hello, is there a problem?
Store Worker, pointing to Shawnee and Roadblock: I believe they belong to you?
Shawnee and Roadblock, simultaneously: We got lost.
Heavy Duty: I didn’t even bring you guys here with me—
----
And that’s all for now! We’ll see what I can scrounge up - another day!

Dear Vector Prime, do GI Joe and Cobra exist somewhere in the Viron cluster?
Dear Real Anime Hero,
Indeed they do! Under the purview of the United States military, the G.I. Joe Rescue Corps worked tirelessly to combat the evil terrorist organization Cobra, who caused disaster from the shadows. By inoculating key individuals with their behavior-altering "Venom" serum, Cobra could engineer crises such as dam breaks, reactor meltdowns, bank robberies, and forest fires. When the call came in—"YO JOE!"—it would be up to Sergeant Duke and his emergency response team to fight back and save the day!
To challenge the dragon cult's mystic brainwashing and command over the elements, G.I. Joe was equipped with state-of-the-art high-tech vehicles—like Duke's "Attack Cruiser", a weaponised police car and peacekeeping machine. Joining him were the serious-minded pilot Scarlett, who flew the "Sky Hawk" helicopter; empathetic paramedic Lifeline, who drove the "Road Defender" ambulance; hot-headed firefighter Hot Zone, who drove the "Inferno Engine" firetruck; and boisterous construction worker Heavy Duty, who operated the "Drill Bit" mining machine. Depending on the mission, they would sometimes be joined by laid-back coast guard Beach-Head, who used the "Wave Crusher" hovercraft, and stubborn engineer Steamhammer, who drove the "Silver Streak" train. With General Tomahawk's tech-savvy son, Vinnie, backing them up at Rescue Corps headquarters, they used teamwork and ingenuity to defend the free will of every citizen.
Most curiously, the confrontations fought between these iterations of G.I. Joe and Cobra are repeated in an entirely separate timeline, deep in the megaverse! There, it was not Sergeant Duke who fought Cobra, but rather Officer Morishita of the Shinsei Foundation who investigated and counteracted the machinations of the Black Dragon Empire. Events played out almost identically between these two timelines, but where Duke had utter conviction, Shun Morishita was gripped with doubt over whether the Black Dragon Empire's rituals truly held sway over the minds of men—or if it was simple human apathy and incompetence which precipitated these daily emergencies.
This version of events may already be known to you! They are recounted in Kinkyuutai Shinsaver, a Toei anime and accompanying toy series from the year 2000. In certain markets, pleased with the cost-effectiveness of importing Car Robots for western audiences as Robots in Disguise, Hasbro would then do the same for this series—adding their own iconography and references that might be more recognisable, along with two new toys designed from scratch to fit the more militarized concept: the "Night Raven" stealth jet piloted by Snake Eyes, and General Tomahawk's "Super Slugger" battle tank. The line was unpopular with existing fans in the US, as the gimmick-heavy vehicles and 2" figures with limited articulation did not scale nicely with their older toys, but it sold well with its target audience, and the vehicles' action features went on to inspire similar gimmicks in Transformers: Armada toys developed later that year.
Anyway, I can see why you might not at first draw the connection to the continent-spanning battles between Optimus Prime's Autobots and Megatron's Predacons, as these groups never directly interacted at the time. It was only many years later that hidden "Ask Vector Prime" text in Transformers: Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II would declare that both Transformers: Robots in Disguise and G.I. Joe: Rescue Corps, together with A.T.O.M. - Alpha Teens on Machines, all took place in the same universal stream, Viron 901.8 Alpha.

i can't seem to find the post, but can we get a bad things bingo, your choice, for tunnel rat from sigma six please?
Tumblr media
Tunnel Rat huffed as he leaned against a rock, body aching after an attack. The B.A.T.s sneak attack took them all by surprise. They were trying to get something, or someone. The robots were separating the team out, and Trunnel Rat had a few theories on why.
“Tunnel Rat,” Heavy Duty yelled, “Tunnel Rat where are you?”
Tunnel Rat smiled as he heard his best friend, “over here!”
“Who did this to you?” Heavy Duty said as he walked over to where Tunnel Rat was sitting.
“The B.A.T.s,” Tunnel Rat said, eyes fluttering open and closed.
“I’ll get you back to the others,” Heavy Duty said as he gathered Tunnel Rat back into his arms. “We’ll figure out why they attacked.”
“I’ve got a few ideas,” Tunnel Rat muttered.
“Tell me about them,” Heavy Duty said as he started running back to the temporary base.

List of Gi Joe OCs cuz I'm bored
Genevieve Colton: Grandchild of Joe Colton and the og Gi Nurse. Fiery spunky, literal ray of sunshine who dislikes the nepotism but isn't above using it to get herself out of a pinch. Works as a reporter; hates corporate news and hopes to bring back integrity to the business. Is often Duke's love interest.
Siren Call/Melody Jones: Singer who joined the Joes after being freed from a Cobra controlled region. Not Satin, though takes cues from her. Her voice is said to be so enchanting thay it lures men to their deaths.
Silent Knight/Mary Smith: A devout Christian and woman of few words. Studied a variety of western sword styles. She's actually a lot more shady than the seemingly passive religious doormat people assume her to be
Nitelite/Xandra Harrison: Rookie, used to work in rave parties before realizing her work in electricity can help save lives. Functions for night based rescue missions.
Spell-Lunky/Meredith Rogers: Actual Witch; in her spare time spelunks in caves to look for rare crystals. Ran away from a Cobra-controller region to avoid exploitation.
Shawnee: Former high school wrestling champ who became a freelance agent/bounty hunter/private detective. Doesn't like the military all that much but willing to work with them against Cobra. Os related to Roadblock and Heavy Duty.
Risa: Heiress of a Japanese business and childhood friend of Tomisaburo Arashikage & Snake Eyes. Was betrothed to the latter until she cut the engagement, refusing to be a part of Cobra. Eventually left to live in California and worked in therapy. Allied with the Joes.

GI Joe: Remixed, Semi-Random Trivia, About Semi-Random Joes
An incomplete list of Joes who are members of minority groups; please make suggestions for additions, as there are many, many Joes with whom I am unfamiliar:
(some of these placements will be elaborated on below)
AFRICAN-AMERICAN:
Stalker
Roadblock
Doc
Doc II
Alpine
Stretcher
Hardball
Iceberg
Heavy Duty
Big Lob
Freight
Quick Stryke
Grill
Cool Breeze
Ripcord
ASIAN-AMERICAN:

NATIVE AMERICAN:
Spirit

PACIFIC ISLANDER:

Red Dog
SIKH:
Hashtag
JEWISH:
Clutch
Bazooka
Budo
ISLAMIC:
Breaker
Sgt. Slaughter
QUAKER:
Lifeline
NEURO-ATYPICAL:
Helix
-Sgt. Slaughter is NOT the professional wrestler born Robert Remus, but received his codename due to a coincidental resemblance to said pro wrestler. That said, he did wrestle in college, where he majored in Classics. Note that he is still serious about his classics studies; he is fluent in both Ancient Greek and Latin, and is knowledgeable about not only Classical literature, but also the history, mythology, culture, etc. of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome.
-Alpine is mixed-race, having African-American, Caucasian, and Latin ancestry; people's efforts to pin him down to one or the other and inability to do so is a constant source of amusement to him.
-Lady Jaye is biracial; her father is as WASP as one can be without being a Boston Brahmin (although they're adjacent), while her mother is from Latin America; note that her mother's family is also filthy rich and aristocratic. Also, she's a distant cousin of Destro and Darklon.
-Rico is a character of our own creation, a Fillipina-American who's primary MOS is powered armor, specifically the Accelerator suit from Rise of Cobra
-Firewall is a young, Asian woman ala DDP rather than an older, Caucasian woman ala IDW.
-Riffing on Rise of Cobra, Breaker's parents are from Morocco.
-Budo periodically notes that both sets of grandparents spent WWII in camps; his paternal grandparents in an internment camp, his maternal grandparents in a concentration camp.
-Ripcord and Cover Girl have more-or-less their IDW backstories.
-Lifeline's aikido skills are such that he's one of the top ten best hand-to-hand combatants in GI Joe. Granted, his pacifist beliefs mean he rarely showcases them; "getting Lifeline in the ring" is a Joe colloquialism for a task that is very difficult and unlikely to end well for you.
-As with many other military regulations, the rules against fraternization are not strictly enforced for Joes, so Flint/Lady Jaye, Scarlett/Snake Eyes, and Jinx/Falcon are things.
-Dial-Tone and Hard Drive are A: female, and B: hot.
-Dial-Tone is the nerdiest nerd to ever nerd, or at least, as much as possibly whilst being an attractive woman. She also barely qualified to be a Joe physically. That said, she did, in fact, qualify, and is thus eminently capable of kicking your ass.
-Clockspring is kinda a creeper. He hasn't done anything explicitly against the regs, but he's come veeery close. As a result, Hard Drive, Firewall, Dial-Tone, and Hashtag frequently receive sympathy from other female Joes about having to work with him, which leaves them confused, because while Clockspring is aware of their gender, he slots them into his head as fellow nerds and doesn't creep on them at all.
-Clockspring also posts on a number of Incel/MRA/RedPill sites, although he keeps getting banned for telling other posters to take it down a few notches.
-Quick Kick has always been a movie guy; he got into martial arts because he realized that Hollywood is kinda racist and expects Asian-American performers to know chop socky stuff. That said, he turned out to be better at it than at acting, so ended up becoming a stunt double. Then the Cobra War happened, he joined the Army and eventually ended up in GI Joe.
-Freight, somewhat similarly, was a star linebacker, who walked away from a multi-million dollar contract to enlist when the Cobra War began. He greatly dislikes being compared to Pat Tillman.
-Contrary to what you'd expect, Freight and Red Dog (who could've been a star if he hadn't been tossed out of the NFL for frequent unnecessary roughness) get along really well.
-GI Joe's first fighter ace, somewhat ironically, was not Ace (who's codename comes form being a card shark), but Slipstream. However, Ace was the first Joe to become Ace In A Day.
-No one can remember Ghostrider The Stealth Pilot's codename, which he is surprisingly OK with, as long as they don't call him by someone else's codename...whereupon he will start calling that person by someone else's codename.
-All the Joe pilots are qualified to fly all Joe aircraft, with the possible exceptions of the Defiant and SHARCs, so Wild Bill can fly a Skystriker and Ace can fly a Tomahawk and Lift-Ticket can fly a Phantom and Ghostrider The Stealth Pilot can fly a Mudfighter and Dogfight can fly a Vector and Maverick can fly a C-130 or Dragonfly, etc.
-Quick Kick holds regular movie nights; Sgt. Slaughter is banned due to his habit of pointing out all the inaccuracies whenever QK puts on a sword-and-sandal flick.
-Roadblock and Heavy Duty are cousins. In addition to their size (which is not just "big" but freakishly its-a-miracle-they-don't-have-health-problems HUGE) and fondness for MOAR DAKKA, they also share a passion for cooking. Roadblock is a master chef, specializing in Soul Food and French haute cuisine (both nouvelle and classique), though he's also excellent at classic Italian and most American regional specialties. In general, Heavy Duty is almost as good and in some cases better (he is an internationally ranked sushi chef, for example), but rather than rely on a standard repertoire, he prefers to experiment, either with exotic foreign or newly-invented dishes he's just heard of or bizarre creations of his own; his success is...mixed.
-Quick Kick has a habit of reciting quotes from Little Caesar every time he runs into Rico in a hallway or whatever. She does not know that's what he's doing and is generally puzzled by the whole thing.
-Mainframe has a thing going on with Zarana.
-When Jinx and Falcon started dating, they got shovel speeches from Duke and Snake Eyes, respectively (yes, despite Snake Eyes being unable to talk). In addition, Storm Shadow kidnapped Falcon...then took him out to dinner, cuz he wanted to get to know his cousin's boyfriend. And because Falcon is Falcon, they ended up bar/club-hopping. Meanwhile, Duke, who only knew his baby brother was abducted by Cobra Commander's personal assassin, was ready to start World War III.
-Cross-Country believes he has a duty to reclaim the family honor he believes was lost when his ancestors took up arms to fight for slavery. His choice of outfit is bait, to trick racists and CSA apologists to make themselves known to him so he can punch them in the face.
-Quick Kick has a Japanese father and a Korean mother. As a result, when he fights the Red Ninjas, they call him a half-breed and talk shit about his mom. He deals with it by kicking their asses.
-Clutch and Rock'n'Roll are best buds. Ditto Bazooka and Alpine. Also Leatherneck and Wetsuit, albeit of the vitriolic kind where they fight constantly.
-Shipwreck is a SEAL.
-Clutch and Budo once went out together to get tattoos of their grandparent's numbers.
-Quick Kick took it upon himself to put together a crash course in cinema since the '70s for Sgt. Savage, and had to be reminded that showing him movies about Vietnam maybe wasn't the best idea.
-Grand Slam, Sci-Fi, and Red Spot are SF/F nerds. Flash is not, and gets annoyed when people assume he is.
-Spirit does not look particularly stereotypical.
-Among GI Joe's many secret mini-bases is one located in a Las Vegas casino; Ace regularly requests a transfer there, as it is the only way he will ever be allowed into a Las Vegas Casino.
-Airborne is genuinely psychic. That said, he's not very powerful; he just has "hunches" that are always right.
-Clutch has an unfortunate habit of running into secret Cobra activity whenever he goes on leave. Seriously, Every. Single. Time.
-Order is much, much more obedient than Junkyard, partially due to natural temperament but largely because Law trained him that way; Law's...kinda contemptuous of the fact that Mutt has not similarly trained Junkyard, and the two of them don't really get along because of it.
-Falcon used to hate Shipwreck, because every strategy he came up with to try and smuggle hookers into the Pit failed because 'Wreck had already tried it. Though, he's mellowed out about it since he started dating Jinx.
-Snake Eyes is under orders to have regular therapy sessions with Psyche-Out (because for obvious reason he's kind of a mess, psychologically); that Etch-a-Sketch is real handy.
-GI Joe has official social media, run by Hashtag, of course. However, the Joes take turns running the official GI Joe twitter account which leads to WMG from the people following trying to figure out who is doing it at any given time, which leads to the Joes deliberately trying to do it in other Joe's style. So, say, Shipwreck will fill it up with rhymes about cooking so people will think it's Roadblock, and Roadblock will do it in French and keep mentioning gumbo and gators so people think it's Gung Ho, and Gung-Ho keeps throwing in Star Wars references so people think it's Sci-Fi, etc. Duke hates doing it, so is very terse, so everyone always assumes he's Snake Eyes (which is hilarious to people who know Snake, who was an inveterate chatterbox before he became mute).
-Note that they also are allowed to have their own social media.
-Cover Girl's social media is a battleground, between her fans from her modeling/reality-show days and her fans since joining GI Joe.
-Heavy Duty has a youtube show where he discusses his cooking experiments. The episodes where Roadblock guest-stars are the most popular, since you now have a 100% chance of the result being edible instead of 50/50.
-Snake Eyes has a Twitter account under his real name, which is really, really active, and really, really inane, because he needs some outlet for his natural chatterbox tendencies.
-As stated, Duke does not believe in social media. As a result, there is a bit of a competition amongst the Joes to trick him into appearing on theirs.
-Cross-Country has a blog where he calls out Confederate apologists. He's been banned from multiple Civil War forums and subreddits and such for flaming same.
-Barbecue mostly goes on about Boston sports

For the week of 10 September 2018
Quick Bits:
Archie: 1941 #1 is fairly morose and downbeat in tone and execution as a recently graduated Archie Andrews seemingly sleepwalks through this opening chapter, depressed and anxious about the future, both in terms of what he wants to do with his life and with the growing fear of the war in Europe. It’s not bad, elevated by wonderful art from Peter Krause and Kelly Fitzpatrick.

Birthright #31 returns after an extended break, opening a new arc following Kallista and Brennan, while diving into the backstory of Mastema. I like Joshua Williamson taking us off down this thread and the art from Andrei Bressan and Adriano Lucas is as beautiful as always.

Cemetery Beach #1 is a very entertaining start to this new action/sci-fi mini-series from Warren Ellis, Jason Howard, and Fonografiks. It’s been a while since I’ve seen some of Ellis’ dialogue be this funny, but it’s very welcome.

Champions #24 tackles the increasing problem of school shootings with the added intersection of a world with superheroes. Now, that may sound like a recipe for disaster, condescending patronizing or an after school special with saccharine solutions, but that’s not what’s presented here. Jim Zub, Sean Izaakse, Marcio Menyz, Erick Arciniega, and Clayton Cowles instead present a thoughtful story of the helplessness of the situation, that you really should pick up and read for yourself.

Crowded #2 is as good, possibly even better, than the first issue as we get further development of Vita and Charlie’s characters, and a broader understanding of many of the facets of the series’ world. This really is a great comic, wonderful humour, amazing premise, interesting characters, and beautiful art. Christopher Sebela, Ro Stein, Ted Brandt, Tríona Farrell, and Cardinal Rae have something special here. Don’t sleep on it.

Exiles #8 is a good jumping-on point, as the team’s history is explored and the issue sets up a new group of antagonists in the Watchers. Saladin Ahmed is doing a great job of building these characters and making their unique alternate realities interesting. Nice guest art this issue from Joe Quinones, Joe Rivera, Jordan Gibson, Chris Sotomayor, and Muntsa Vicente.

Fantastic Four #2 has a couple things in its opening page that could be considered problematic, the first in its depiction of an alien race that could be an analogue to the racial stereotype of Native Americans as the “noble savage”, the second is of the sexualization of a child. Neither are particularly endearing in how they’re presented and I’m kind of surprised they made it to print.
That being said, the rest of the issue is pretty good. It’s the kind of sci-fi adventure you’d expect from the FF, though it does feel like we’ve been dropped in at the end of an adventure we’ve never seen, and it has beautiful artwork from Sara Pichelli, Elisabetta D’Amico, and Marte Gracia.

Hot Lunch Special #2 is just plain great storytelling. Eliot Rahal, Jorge Fornés, and Taylor Esposito are crafting a crime story here that is the perfect storm of characters, plot, and execution. It’s dense and heavy, navigating through the Khoury family and their shock at the death of their youngest, masterfully told through both dialogue and art.

Iceman #1 isn’t a bad start to a new series from Sina Grace, this time with Nathan Stockman and Federico Blee joining him for the art duties. While still cracking wise a bit, this seems like it’s going in a much more serious direction than some of Grace’s previous series. Great art, and an interesting hook for a new group trying to “cleanse” mutantkind.

Infinity Wars #3 gives us the twist in the tale that’s going to deliver most of the tie-ins and spin-offs for the series, as Gamora remakes the world and causes the fusion of various heroes. It’s an idea we’ve seen before in things like the merged DC/Marvel Amalgam universe, which could be fun depending on where the creative teams take it.

MCMLXXV #1 is kind of a mash-up of different 70s exploitation film genres, creating an interesting action horror story from Joe Casey, Ian MacEwan, Brad Simpson, and Rus Wooton. MacEwan’s art is very nice, reminding me a bit of Troy Nixey, with some interesting character designs and wonderful depictions of the action.

Mech Cadet Yu #12 concludes the series with a final battle between the robos and the Sharg, again following the important themes of teamwork and sacrifice. This has been a very entertaining, action-packed story from Greg Pak, Takeshi Miyazawa, Raúl Angulo, and Simon Bowland.

Oblivion Song #7 is the big answer to the Transference, maybe, as the series turns itself on its ear again with more sweeping changes. I really quite like how Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo de Felici are keeping us on our toes as the series keeps pressing forward.

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #309 concludes this two-parter focusing on Sandman, with gorgeous art from Chris Bachalo and his army of inkers. This one’s a lot more action-oriented than the quiet reflection upon death in the first chapter, but it’s still very satisfying.

Runaways #13 begins a new arc with some incredible guest art from David Lafuente and Jim Campbell. Along with the return of Alex Wilder, this drops in another old threat for the team, leading to one of the more action-packed issues of the series so far. Still, amidst the chaos, Rainbow Rowell still has a laser-focused eye for character development, giving us some interesting reactions to Wilder’s return.

Scales & Scoundrels #12 concludes this two-part arc with Dorma and with it the series for the foreseeable future. This has been a great all ages fantasy adventure series from Sebastian Girner, Galaad, and Jeff Powell, and I wish it had have caught on better since the quality has been extremely high. Great characters and beautiful art, I do hope they find a way to bring it back in some form, and I highly recommend people to check out the series in the collections.

Volition #2 is another beautiful comic. The artwork from Omar Francia is gorgeous with a nice polished sheen to the colours that enriches this world of sentient machines.

Weapon H #7 continues to be more entertaining than anyone probably thought possible. Though I really quite like Cory Smith’s art, I’m thinking that Ario Anindito’s is even more suited to the weird, alien creatures of this turn in the story.

The Wrong Earth #1 is a solid debut, kicking off new publisher, Ahoy’s, foray into comics. It’s a nice package with a lead story, a back-up comic, some interviews, a one pager, and a short story. It gives nice value for what you’re picking up, especially when you consider the talent involved.
The lead story from Tom Peyer, Jamal Igle, Juan Castro, Andy Troy, and Rob Steen is the main draw, though. It’s a rather brilliant premise of a superhero crossing alternate realities, switching from a kind of Adam West Batman-esque quaint, bright world to a much darker grim and gritty world, and vice versa. It’s executed very well, capturing the tone and atmosphere for both takes perfectly.
The backmatter also nicely enhances the experience, particularly the back-up comic featuring Stinger from Paul Constant and Frank Cammuso, presented in a kind of retro comics fashion. And a suitably bonkers adventure prose story from Grant Morrison, with illustrations by Rob Steen.

X-23 #4 pushes further to paint the Cuckoos as out and out villains now. Which is a bit of a shame, much like with Emma Frost, but I can’t deny that Mariko Tamaki isn’t doing something interesting with them and the story overall. Also, Juann Cabal and Nolan Woodard continue to deliver stunning artwork.

X-Men Blue #35 takes a moment for each of the time-tossed original five X-Men to chat with their present day counterparts about going back to their own time, while flashing forward to the seemingly nightmarish future that would exist if they stayed. Obviously with Extinction going on events are a bit out of order, but I still like the handle Cullen Bunn has had on these characters.
