Holden Sandman, 1977. The most iconic of all Australian panel vans was the Sandman that was based on multiple "H" generation Holden Utes from the HQ in 1974 through to the HZ ending in 1980 (HX is pictured). They were colloquially referred to as "Shaggin' Wagons" due to their popularity with young heterosexual couples. They came with the GTS sports instrumentation, a sports steering wheel, bucket seats, and the exterior consisting of rally wheels with the "Sandman" Logo painted on B pillars and body side stripes. The name was revived for a concept panel van based on the VU series Commodore in 2000 but it never made it into production

Ford Model T (1908)
The first massed produced automobile.
The Model T - colloquially known as the Tin Lizzie - is generally regarded as the first affordable car in the world, and the vehicle that opened up a world of automobile travel to the middle classes. Ford's assembly line production made it all possible, setting a standard of manufacturing that influenced almost every industry in the world. Produced between 1908 and 1927, more than 15 million Tin Lizzies were sold, and the car gave mobility to the masses. For that reason, it is often considered to be one of the most influential developments in the history of design and production.

Rolls Royce Silver Ghost (1908)
The first military car.
At the time of its development, the beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Ghost was considered to be at the forefront of luxury car design. However, it was to become something much more important than a toy for the rich. In 1914, all Silver Ghost chassis were re-purposed to form the basis for a brand new armored car, and the vehicles ended up playing a significant part in World War I, the Irish Civil War, the Turkish Wars and even World War II. In doing so, the Silver Ghost gave birth to the modern concept of mechanized military conflicts and ended the days of the horse cavalry.

Austin Seven (1922)
The first 'people's car'.
The Austin 7 is a legendary British car that was hugely successful both in its home country and abroad. It is often seen as the forerunner to the modern automobile as we know it, and made a huge impact on the economy car market that was comparable to the innovative inroads made by the Ford Model T fifteen years before. It is seen as the first 'people's car' that further popularized motoring, and it was re-bodied to form the basis for the first cars produced by BMW, Nissan, Lotus, Jaguar and the Australian firm Holden.

Volkswagen Beetle (1938)
The mechanical innovator that became a cultural icon.
It's hard to find another automobile with the rich history of the Volkswagen Beetle. The brainchild of Ferdinand Porsche, it was one of the first rear-engine automobiles and was specifically designed to travel at 100kph on Germany's autobahn highway system. It also featured one of the world's first air-cooled engine designs, but its impact went way beyond its mechanical innovations. Its production lasted for 65 years between 1938 and 2006 - the longest ever run for a single design concept - and it was the first car to truly become a cultural icon (helped by the 'Herbie' films of course), showing that motor cars had a place in wider entertainment.

BMC Mini (1959)
The early 'hot hatchback'.
Another car that gained an influence outside of the motoring world is the much loved BMC mini. It was conceptualized as a car for everyone and went on to be produced in over 100 variants in countries all over the globe. It was also one of the first modern front wheel drive cars, and made the idea of the small 'hot hatchback' cool. This simple, little car which came to symbolize the 'swinging' 60s, was one of the first efficient 'city' cars and became a rally car, racing legend and movie icon in pictures like The Italian Job.

Citroen DS (1955)
The groundbreaking car that influenced car design for years.
The Citroën DS always occupies high places when experts are looking to crown the best car of all time, and with good reason. This executive car was years ahead of its time and it's widely accepted that every modern car model can in some way trace its design back to the DS. It was the first mass production car to include disc brakes, featured an aerodynamic body design considered futuristic at the time but standard today, it had hydraulic suspensions and revolving headlights, and sold a then-record 12,000 units on its first day of release. It remains one of the most influential automobile designs ever produced.

Jaguar E-Type (1961)
The luxury icon of the 1960s.
The Jaguar E-Type is one of the most beautiful sports cars ever to grace the road, and a legend of 1960s design. At a time when most cars were more about practicality than style and performance, the E-Type boasted top of speeds in excess of 150mph and could travel 0-60mph in under 7 seconds. It was the first production vehicle that didn't feature a body fixed to a separate chassis, instead, it employed a 'racing design' where the body was attached to a tubular framework. It will always be associated with high performance and sleek sophistication, and it influenced sports car designed long after it left the production line.

Lamborghini Miura (1966)
The world's first super car.
The Lamborghini Miura was the world's first super car, and pushed the boundaries of what people thought was possible in automobile design. It ushered in the era of the high-performance, two-seater sports car and was lightning quick - comfortably the fastest road car in production when it was first released. The design shared much more in common with the race cars of the day, rather than the sleek touring car designs that had previously been favored by car firm bosses, including Ferruccio Lamborghini himself, who objected the original concept for the Miura, forcing the company's engineers to design it in their spare time.

Chrysler Minivan (1983)
The first ever multi-passenger mini-van.
In 1983, Chrysler effectively invented the Minivan and changed the way cars were conceptualized for good. The Minivan's design grew from the need for a vehicle suitable for larger families, which still retained the driveability of a normal car. It looked boxy, but had a sliding side door that made loading the kids in the car easy, yet it was small enough to fit in a standard parking spot. Owning one came to symbolise both financial, adult success and, paradoxically, 'lost youth' in 1980s America. The car changed the landscape of automobile design forever.

Toyota Prius (1997)
The world's first mass-produced electric hybrid vehicle.
The Toyota Prius was the first mass-produced hybrid, electric vehicle in the world, and its influence is probably yet to be fully realized. Just as the Model T and Austin 7 brought automobiles to the masses, the Prius broke new ground in the important quest for an electric powered alternative to modern gas guzzlers and remains one of the most environmentally friendly cars sold to date (now in its fourth generation, it remains in production). For all these reasons, the Prius deserves its place on this list of the most innovative car designs of all time.

The final iteration of the boxy late sixties Ford Falcon was the XY series (1971).  In Australia, the three major manufacturers, Ford, Chrysler and General Motors Holden all began the seventies with final versions of their late sixties designs.  It wasn’t until 1971 that the all-new HQ Holden, XA Falcon and VH Valiant ranges were unveiled and put on sale.

Why Buy A Mitsubishi ASX Now Before It's Too Late

Mitsubishi Motors will unveil an all-new ASX sometime in the near future, but it will be nothing like the current Mitsubishi ASX for sale that has become one of the biggest success motoring stories over the past decade.
This is already casting some doubt as to whether the newcomer can replicate its predecessor’s sales performance, and even over the viability of importing it given the extent of change the model is undergoing.
As reported in late January during the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s announcement stating its intention to introduce 35 new electric vehicles to market by 2023, the long-awaited replacement for the 12-year-old small SUV will be derived from one of “Renault’s bestsellers”.
All bets point to that being the Renault Captur II that landed a few years ago, but the implications of this raise far more questions – and eyebrows – than answers for consumers.
As with the closely-related but British-built Nissan Juke II that launched in 2020 as well as the recently released Renault Arkana from South Korea, this means that the 2023 ASX is set to switch to the CMF-B (for Common Module Family – B-segment vehicles) modular platform by the French manufacturer rather than Mitsubishi.
This changes everything, beginning with packaging. Will it be big enough?
The current ASX is based on the GS platform that first saw the light of day in 2005, underpinning scores of C- and D-segment models from various manufacturers, with the most pertinently for Australians being Mitsubishi’s now-defunct Lancer small car, two generations of the Outlander mid-sized SUV (until the latest model arrived in late 2021) and today’s Eclipse Cross.
So what, you say? Well, the MY22 ASX’s length/ width/ height/ wheelbase measurements are 4365/ 1810/ 1640/ 2670mm, while the latest Captur II’s equivalents come in at 4227/ 1797/ 1567/ 2639mm. Or, in other words, the future ASX could be substantially smaller in every dimension and thus will shrink a segment size down, from the C SUV to the B SUV class.
The consequence of this is that, while we can’t say for sure as yet, the next-gen version may end up being significantly less spacious inside. Think going from a Mazda CX-30 to a CX-3… or Holden VF Commodore to ZB Commodore. This would have major ramifications for people seeking a family-friendly SUV. The fact that Australians buy the ASX because it offers one of the bigger interiors for the money cannot be underestimated. This has been a key unique selling proposition against key opponents for years, and one that the next ASX is on track to lose.
Then there’s the question of pricing and exchange rate issues. Will it still represent compelling value for money?
The ASX will most likely have to be imported from Europe (probably Spain, since the Captur II is sourced from Renault’s Valladolid facility) rather than from Japan like today’s version, so it’s best to forget about the rock-bottom pricing that has been the lynchpin of the existing ASX’s success in recent years. 
Why is the Mitsubishi currently so comparatively inexpensive? Considering it was globally unveiled in Japan as the third-generation RVR in December 2009, the current ASX has had years to amortise its initial investment, making it now very cheap to produce and market.
Of course, the next ASX’s relationship with the also-CMF-B-based Renault Arkana could lead to less-expensive South Korean sourcing – courtesy of Renault Samsung Motors, which also supplies us with the established Nissan X-Trail-derived Renault Koleos – to serve non-European markets like Australia and North America (where the ASX is sold as the Outlander Sport). But this is pure speculation, with no confirmation from the Alliance.
However, regardless of where it’s imported from, part of the anticipated extra expense is down to the ASX stepping up in technology and sophistication, adopting more modern safety and updated, advanced petrol powertrains. Mitsubishi isn’t saying, but the Alliance’s circa-84kW/180Nm 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo or 118kW/270Nm 1.3-litre four-pot turbo engine (shared with Mercedes-Benz) are very strong possibilities, along with various electrification options further down the track.
Along with requiring better-quality and higher-octane fuel, these turbo powertrains use efficient, if complicated, dual-clutch transmissions, making them a far cry from simple and proven 110kW/197 2.0-litre and optional 123kW/222Nm 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated units offered today, sending torque to the front wheels via either a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT). Besides driving and feeling very differently compared to today’s ASX, rising servicing and upkeep costs may also impact buyers’ wallets.
Ultimately, for all the advancements that come with it, embodying a much-more modern Renault (or Nissan) ultimately undermines the Mitsubishi-ness of the ASX.
Besides connecting with brand pillars like the Lancer, the current model adheres to a decades-long company policy of persisting with reliable, reputable and durable vehicles that proved their mettle over time, even if they ended up being outdated as a consequence. It happened with the Australian-made Sigma and Colt in the 1980s and Lancer and Magna in the 2000s. That’s how cash-strapped organisations survive, garnering legions of loyal Australian consumers along the way.
Maybe the best thing that Mitsubishi South Africa could do is change the name to manage consumer expectations. With the benefit of hindsight, perhaps Holden would have been wiser to do the same when it stuck on the wholly-unsuitable ‘Commodore’ badge on the imported 2018 Opel Insignia that replaced the locally-made icon.
Of course, the next ASX is still at least two years away from any local launch activity that might be being planned, and in that time, maybe Australians might tire of its age-related deficiencies against far-newer alternatives.
Finally, there’s the Eclipse Cross factor.
Mitsubishi may choose to concentrate on this last vestige of pre-Alliance engineering, with sharper pricing and minor updates to help boost this 2017-vintage small SUV crossover’s appeal to South Africans.
And why not? After all, using the same GS platform down to an identical 2670mm wheelbase, the Eclipse Cross was originally created as the ASX’s replacement back in the middle of last decade, before the latter’s unexpected popularity surge worldwide coupled with mounting company financial woes led to the decision to run old and new concurrently.
While managing fewer than half of the 14,764 sales accumulated by the far-older ASX last year, the Eclipse Cross’ 6132 registration tally represents a 36 per cent rise over 2020, aided by that year’s much-needed facelift.
Whatever Mitsubishi decides, and despite falling far behind the best in its segment, the ASX is now regarded as a pioneer, being one of the first small SUVs on the market when it arrived in mid-2010 to be pitched as an alternative to regular small car hatchbacks like the Toyota Corolla. Back then, the larger Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester were classed as ‘compact SUVs’, with only oddball models like the Suzuki SX4 offering something truly urban-sized.
Of course, since then, copycats ranging from the Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3 to the Hyundai Kona and MG ZS have proliferated, but with regular improvements and updates, the ASX rose from a sales outlier to segment champion heading into the 2020s.
Is there even hope that the Renault Captur-based replacement can achieve the same degree of success?

When Audrey worked in Hollywood, no one could dodge her extraordinary personal magnetism. There were rumors that many celebrated performers, such as Gregory Peck and Kirk Douglas, had fallen prey to its spell. Today, however, it seems definitively settled that Audrey was limited to just being with one kind mate. Here is an image that supports this opinion: Audrey squeezing a lemon at William Holden's lunch.
Roger called her and told her about ABC's annual London ball and asked her to help.
"It is a traditional custom in the studios to invite one of their stars to be present at this type of party. Young stars are usually chosen because, unlike a first-rate actress, they do not condescend to accept such invitations. These are parties reserved for budding stars who crave publicity and need to make themselves known to the public. I proposed to my colleagues in the publicity department their choice to attend the ball."
But against what her friends had expected, Audrey's first reaction was one of shock and fear.
"Do you really think I'm the best one?" she asked, worried. "Can I satisfy the required conditions?"
"Of course, Audrey. Just make your presence and let yourself be admired."
"But I never attended a society party as the only guest of honor. It's a vulgar thing."
"How should I behave? What should I do? Is public speaking mandatory? What is the attire I should take?"
They patiently explained that the invitation did not pose any difficulties. It was a common public appearance like so many others that, by order of the studios, the young stars are forced to accept to enhance a party.
She was to give a short speech into the microphone that would be delivered to her by the studio. She just had to read the text, let herself be photographed as many times as asked and serve everyone with grace and sympathy. If she wanted, she could dance with whoever invited her.
Despite the simplicity of these obligations, Audrey's nervousness did not calm down. Shortly before the dance, she still called the studios, asking for information and advice.
When she was given the speech she was supposed to give, she memorized it over and over again, introducing some amendments, and called the publicity section again.
"Mr. Jones? Yes, I am, Audrey. Do you honestly believe I don't need to buy a new dress for the ball?"
"Dear Miss Hepburn, go to the ball. I swear, on my honor, this is not a performance at the Royal Palace. Be ready in two hours. I'll go get you to accompany you to the ball."
Audrey behaved admirably during the party, and achieved the highest success. She instantly won the sympathy and admiration of the entire audience and, most importantly, the ABC studios realized her extraordinary value.
Overcoming the fear of being the center of attraction of the eyes of hundreds of people, Audrey regained her charming nature, which is imposing on everyone.
Audrey left the ball admired by all the audience and enjoying a popularity she hadn't achieved before. From that day on, Audrey Hepburn became the ambassador of Hendon's motorized police group.
Since then, whenever the studios needed a starlet for publicity reasons, public appearances, or invitations, Audrey became the actress of choice.

Mid-Week Motorsport Headlines - 6th May 2022
F1
Netflix has confirmed that Drive to Survive will return for another 2 seasons. If they can get it right, and fix the problems with the last season then that is all good, and I have a feeling that they will do just that. At the end of the day, they don’t want to do a bad job, and I am sure that F1 pushed them to make changes following the backlash.
On the eve of the Miami Grand Prix, it is notable that the FIA President attended Indianapolis Motor Speedway, to meet with Roger Penske, who owns the facility, as well as IndyCar. It would be great to see a return to the Speedway, especially if they can get a track layout which will work for F1. However, it would only be a good idea if there aren’t already 3 other American races a year, which is already too many. The IndyCar market around Indy would surely be receptive of an F1 return, despite past events.
IndyCar
The 33rd entry for the Indy 500 has been confirmed, with Stefan Wilson piloting a collaboration between DragonSpeed, Cusick Motorsport and AJ Foyt Racing, who will supply the equipment for the team, as well as probably technical help during the event. It will be interesting to see how this partnership stacks up, and if it has legs to grow in the future.
The possibility of a 34th entry for Top Gun Racing has seemingly fallen through, despite them having a chassis. The issue seemed to come from an engine supplier standpoint, with Honda only willing to give another engine for a ‘special entry’. I am sure they will be back soon; this year seems to have been a tough one for various reasons.
Formula E
Having left the sport at the end of last season, along with Audi, Abt, who ran the Audi operation, will return to the sport as an independent team. They will purchase the Mercedes team when they leave the sport after this year, and will name their engine supplier in due course. Given Mercedes continued strength this season, it is not a bad team to buy for next season, although I am sure a fair amount of the intellectual property will disappear during the handover.
Sao Paulo is the next city to form an agreement with Formula E to host a race in the future. The deal spans 5 years, and could first host a race next year. The race will reportedly not be at the well known circuit at Interlagos, instead being around the Anhembi Sambadrome, where 3 IndyCar races were hosted, which did produce some great racing.
MotoGP
In shocking news, Suzuki has announced it will leave MotoGP at the end of the season after being in the sport since 2015. This is a surprise, as whilst they aren’t winning right now, their performances have been solid, and not the worst on the grid. This suggests that other factors are the cause of the decision, including possibly carbon neutrality. The decision was communicated late to the team itself, with them only knowing on Monday at the test, with the news braking quite soon after. Reportedly Mir could move to Honda alongside Marquez, replacing Pol, which could make an even more fiery combination than they have now. Rins’ future is unclear. Dorna later came out saying that Suzuki could not leave without an agreement, as they have a deal to stay in the sport until 2026. It is possible that Suzuki will buy out the contract, or settle it another way.
Following this news, various teams in the junior series have expressed their interest in replacing them in MotoGP. There is a cap on bikes in MotoGP which is already at the limit of 24, which shows how much interest there is right now in the sport, especially for customer teams. Aprilia has stated they are willing to field a satellite team, which could be where the bikes come from for the new team.
Other News
In unexpected news, Walkinshaw Andretti United in V8 Supercars, has announced it will change to Ford for the next generation cars. Given the team is born out of the Holden Racing Team, this decision is rather bold, and has angered many loyal fans. The decision may have been helped by becoming a factory team for Ford next year, which could help development work. It is unclear the future of Percat, a long time Holden driver, with family connections there. Mostert will likely stay with the team, given he is engrained there, and had 6 years with Ford.

Coba bayangkan, mobil tahun 90an apa yang menurut kalian paling keren dan cepat. Honda NSX? Subaru Impreza? Toyota Supra? Atau bahkan Porsche 911? Bila salah satu mobil tersebut ada di benak kalian, kalian tidak salah. Memang beberapa mobil tersebut menjadi primadona di era 90an dan pasti  para penggemar otomotif dunia membeli poster mobil - mobil tersebut untuk dilihat dan direnungkan sehingga pikiran petrolhead di zaman itu dibuat halu melayang dan menjadi impian banyak orang, bahkan hingga saat ini. Setiap mobil tersebut akan mencuri pandangan dan hati siapapun yang melihatnya dan bahkan pria pun akan terbuai oleh nya. Bukan tanpa alasan, mobil - mobil tersebut dicintai karena beberapa alasan, baik itu bodi yang bagus, mesin yang kencang, modification ability yang mumpuni, dan mempunyai racing pedigree yang menyebabkan mobil tersebut menjadi sebuah legenda. Namun, tahukah kalian bahwa ada satu mobil yang menjadi legenda karena mobil ini dibenci karena menjadi Bajing Luncat?
Legenda itu adalah Lotus Carlton. Mungkin beberapa orang masih asing mendengar namanya. Mobil yang memiliki basis dari Vauxhall Omega ini adalah mobil yang legendaris karena mobil ini adalah sleeper yang bilamana kalian bangunkan dari tidurnya, maka dia akan berlari kencang, bahkan bisa dikatakan dia adalah titisan dari Hussain Bolt dalam wujud mobil. 
Baiklah, mungkin bahasa itu terlalu hiperbola, tapi saya mengatakan itu karena memang mobil ini dibuat sangat cepat dengan alasan keinginan manajer General Motors pada saat itu untuk membuat mobil yang tidak membosankan karena, hey, ini adalah tahun 1990, dimana masing - masing manufaktur mulai menunjukkan taring nya untuk membuat mobil - mobil yang kencang, keren, dan tentu saja, menjadi legenda. Oleh karena ide diluar kotak yang cukup gila tersebut, General Motos menggelontorkan uang kepada Vauxhall untuk mengembangkan mobil kencang dengan memakai Vauxhall Omega sebagai basis project Carlton. 
Nah, pasti kalian bingung kenapa tiba - tiba ada Lotus? Kenapa tidak menggunakan brand “Vauxhall” saja? Kan, Lotus hanya berfokus pada mobil sport saja? Nah sebelum kalian menjadi linglung akibat masalah branding, dahulu General Motors memiliki saham perusahaan Vauxhall dan Lotus pada saat yang bersamaan sehingga Vauxhall dapat meminta tolong Lotus untuk bersama - sama mengembangkan proyek mobil ini. Namun, setelah mobil ini selesai dibangun, Vauxhall enggan untuk memberikan brand mereka untuk Carlton karena sebelumnya, Vauxhall telah memiliki Vauxhall Omega versi kencang sehingga dikhawatirkan Carlton dapat mengganggu penjualannyat. Maka dari itu, Vauxhall memberikan “keistimewaan” kepada Lotus untuk memberikan Carlton dengan nama brand mereka. Dan setelah melewati berbagai proses pengembangan, pada tahun 1990, lahirlah Lotus Carlton.
Mobil ini diberi ruh mesin Opel Inline 6 3.0L dengan kode C36GET. Hm. Mesin 3.000cc. Apa keren nya? Mending kita beli mobil yang punya kapasitas besar kalau ingin memiliki mobil yang kencang. Nah beruntunglah General Motors yang pada saat itu memiliki Lotus karena berkat kemampuannya dalam mengembangkan mobil - mobil sport, Lotus memodifikasi mesin tersebut dengan menambahkan 2 turbo, menambah kapasitas mesin menjadi 3.2L, dan disempurnakan dengan transmisi yang diambil dari Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 dan untuk membuat mobil ini lebih mudah dikendalikan, mobil ini diberi suspensi coilover yang mampu mendukung stabilitas mobil ini. Selain itu, disisipkan juga LSD yang juga digunakan oleh Holden Commodore SS. Ya, walau hanya naik 200cc tapi jangan salah. Tenaga yang dikeluarkan oleh keju Stilton ini adalah 377 HP dengan torsi 549Nm sehingga mobil ini mampu melesat hingga 283 Kph dan untuk mencapai 100 Kph hanya membutuhkan waktu 5 detik saja. Mungkin pada saat ini, 5 detik merupakan waktu yang wajar untuk ditempuh mobil - mobil sport lainnya. Namun kembali pada zaman itu, 5 detik adalah waktu yang dapat mengalahkan beberapa mobil sport, bahkan supercar seperti Ferrari pun dapat dikalahkan mobil ini dengan “kesederhanaan yang elegan” sehingga mobil ini ditakuti oleh beberapa perusahaan supercar karena kemampuannya yang “diatas akal sehat”.
Oh saya hampir lupa. Mungkin dari judul tulisan ini, kalian bertanya “Hubungan nya mobil ini dengan bajing luncat itu apa?” Nah, kalian pasti mengetahui bahwa bajing luncat adalah sekelompok kriminal yang menjarah barang muatan truk atau bahkan mobil pribadi dengan menjarah kendaraan yang masih melaju dan tidak sedikit dari bajing luncat ini dapat kabur dengan mudah dan bahkan tidak terlacak aparat kepolisian. Dan cerita bajing luncat ini cukup relevan dengan salah satu peristiwa yang terjadi dengan melibatkan Lotus Carlton.
Pada tanggal 26 November 1993 di West Midlands, Inggris, ada sekelompok gang yang tengah merampok sebuah pusat perbelanjaan dan mereka mencuri rokok dan alkohol (mungkin para pencuri memiliki masalah dengan istri nya) . Ketika para pencuri ini hendak kabur, mereka melihat ada sebuah Lotus Carlton dengan plat 40 RA milik salah satu warga yang terparkir di dalam rumah dan mereka mencuri mobil tersebut untuk melarikan diri. Begitu polisi mengetahui para pencuri telah kabur dengan mobil ini, mereka langsung berupaya untuk mengejar mobil ini. Namun, upaya tersebut tentu saja sia - sia. Mobil polisi saat itu, Rover Metro, sebuah mobil kecil yang hanya mampu mencapai kecepatan kurang lebih 120 Kph, tidak sanggup mengejar Lotus Carlton yang mempunyai tenaga buas sehingga mobil ini dapat membawa kabur para pencuri dengan mudah, saking mudah nya polisi pun tidak dapat melacak keberadaan mobil ini bahkan Kepala Polisi West Midlands saat itu mengatakan “Waduh kita benar - benar tidak bisa mengejar mobil ini, dan nampak nya tidak akan pernah bisa” dan itu adalah realita! Terkadang saya bingung padahal saat itu kepolisian Inggris mempunyai mobil polisi yang cukup bertenaga seperti Ford RS200 dan mengapa pada saat pengejaran mereka tidak memakai mobil itu? Namun yang pasti, hingga saat ini, Lotus Carlton 40 RA tersebut belum ditemukan dan spekulasi beredar bahwa mobil ini ditenggelamkan ke dasar danau, dihancurkan di tempat rongsok, atau disembunyikan di tempat tersembunyi. 
Akibat dari peristiwa tersebut, pemerintah Inggris ingin melarang penjualan mobil ini karena dinilai berbahaya, terlalu kencang, tidak stabil, dan dianggap “tidak masuk akal dan melawan akal sehat” dan media otomotif pada saat itu juga menilai bahwa mobil ini sangat berbahaya bila dikendalikan oleh pengemudi pemula.
Nah, akhir dari perjalanan mobil ini juga cukup menyedihkan. 2 tahun kemudian, tepatnya bulan Desember 1992, penjualan mobil ini harus dihentikan karena pada saat itu, terjadi resesi yang dialami Inggris dan harga mobil ini dinilai terlalu mahal, yaitu GBP 48.000. Selain itu, Opel sangat berharap mobil ini terjual sesuai target mereka, yaitu 1100 unit. Namun ternyata, hanya 950 unit saja yang terjual. Walaupun tidak terlalu buruk, namun tetap saja tidak mencapai target yang diharapkan. 
Saat ini, ada beberapa website yang menjual Lotus Carlton dengan harga yang sangat fantastis, bahkan ada salah satu marketplace yang menjual Lotus Carlton dengan harga hampir GBP 90.000 atau senilai 1.9 Miliar Rupiah! Tapi harga tersebut sepadang dengan cerita tentang kenikmatan, kesenangan, kebrutalan, dan peristiwa yang tersimpan di dalam jiwa mobi ini dan hal itu menjadikan mobil ini sebuah legenda yang bisa dikatakan sebagai legenda bajing luncat asal Inggris.

1966-1969 Toyota Corolla (E10)
The first generation Toyota Corolla, while introduced in 1966, didn't hit the U.S. market until the 1968 model year. The E10, in particular, was inspired by a smaller car sold at the time: the Toyota Publica.

1970-1974 Toyota Corolla (E20)
For the second generation, the Corolla was stylized with a much rounder body. The Toyota Sprinter and Corolla names were given to better differentiate between the two compact cars.

1975-1978 Toyota Corolla (E30-E60)
The third generation Corolla was the generation that marked Toyota's largest growth in terms of production, as it was introduced in the middle of a fuel crisis. For this generation in particular, the E30-E60 was the longest produced generation of any to date, which was most speculated to be due to a global recession. Though, the E30-E60 were replaced by the E70 generation in August 1979, the former generation remained on the market in most countries until July 1981.

1979-1982 Toyota Corolla (E70)
The E70 was the last Corolla generation to have a rear-wheel drive configuration. Although it released in Japan in March of 1979, export sales did not begin until August of that year. In 1980, Corolla production reached such a high to the point where a million sedan in the E70 generation was built in February of 1983. A "One Million Edition" was released in Japan at this same time to celebrate the occassion.

1983-1987 Toyota Corolla (E80)
The E80 generation not only sold 3.3 million production units for Toyota, but had a majority of its models adapt a front-wheel drive configuration. The AE82 variant of this Corolla also kickstarted a joint venture with General Motors, with the sedan and the liftback being sold in the U.S. as the Fifth generation Chevrolet Nova.

The E90 was the last Corolla in the lineup to be classified as a subcompact car, but also the first to either exclusively have front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
