I don't see why the first needed a sequel. The film doesn't do anything new or exciting and the film is pretty pointless.
The film is terrible, considering that the first was decent. Kids who liked the first movie will probably like this one, too, but it felt like a retread for me.Īlthough I didn't mind not being able to see both of Willy's eyes at the same time, I spent much of the movie afraid they were going to train him to wink.As far as sequels are concerned, Free Willy 2 is as pointless as they come. Making friends with a whale should be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, not the stuff for a sequel two years later (with "Free Willy 3" and "Free Willy 4" already on the drawing boards). Because "Free Willy 2" offers essentially the same characters and the same situation, only less believable, I became aware of the manipulation. The first movie appealed to me because I bought into the characters and the situation. There is even a scene where Jesse goes for a thrilling ride in the bay on Willy's back. This time, Willy seems to almost understand English, responds to what Jesse says and gets involved in the plot. In the first movie, Willy developed the ability to nod his head up and down for "yes" and sideways for "no." This is not easy for a whale to do, especially when half of its body is out of the water. At one point, the harmonica slips from Jesse's hands and falls into the water, and there are a couple of tense moments until, yes, Willy surfaces with the harmonica in his mouth, and Jesse snatches it right off the whale's tongue. In this film, Willy is apparently able to hear the harmonica at great distances and comes straight to his master like a dog. You will recall that in the first film, Jesse was able to communicate with the whale by harmonica. He's turned into a glib liar, even explaining that Al Pacino is his father.Īnd there are sensitive scenes in which Jesse develops his first teenage crush, on a girl named Nadine ( Mary Kate Schellhardt), and Elvis tattles after observing their first kiss.
Jesse, as played by Richter, has developed into a capable and intelligent kid, and Francis Capra does a good job of suggesting the hurts he suffered while growing up with an irresponsible mother. Emmet Walsh) want to place the whale in "protective custody," which is a nice way of saying they want to return him to captivity and sell more tickets. This leads to a subplot in which still more evil oceanarium owners (including the scheming M. When Jesse makes an effort to welcome him, Elvis' only answer is, " Whatever." Elvis is, in fact, a clone of the Jesse character in the first movie.Īs for Willy, after a tanker runs aground and an oil spill spreads ominously, marine life in the entire area is threatened. Jesse is not so happy to meet Elvis, a tough little kid who is hostile and aggressive. And Willy, who has been freed, is discovered again, and an environmental crisis threatens his home waters. Jesse's biological mother, who abandoned him and went to live in New York, dies - leaving him with a kid brother named Elvis ( Francis Capra) he didn't know he had. Life is serene, until two developments shake things up. This time, the film uses only animatronic whales, although their builders still have not moved their eyes any closer together.Īs the film opens, Jesse is living happily with his foster parents, and most of his behavioral troubles seem behind him. That problem has been avoided in "Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home" (the closing credits helpfully list an 800 number you can call to save the original Willy). After the movie was released, some irony developed when it turned out that the whale playing Willy was itself in captivity. The villains in the original movie were guys who wanted to make money by exhibiting Willy. Only after he befriended a sad whale in the local oceanarium did he begin to get his life together and accept the love offered by Glen and Annie Greenwood ( Michael Madsen and Jayne Atkinson). What I liked about the earlier movie is that it wasn't really about the whale but about the young boy ( Jason James Richter), a troublesome loner named Jesse who was having a hard time adjusting to a new foster home.

Now I'm curious how you got into due south originally, if you feel like explaining :)
Sure! It's nothing too exciting I guess, but my Dueser origins begin as a wee girl. I know my family must have vaguely watched it because I remember the image of All The Queen's Horses mountie chase pre-dates my series watch beginnings. I know my grandma later confessed as I had it on tv one summer that she watched it. Cause cute Benton Fraser lol.
But real seeing and watch began with a random catch of Free Willie one morning on the Showcase Network. Thank you kindly Showcase.
Yeah, I caught it one morning and stayed to watch because I think I vaguely recognized it, and just fell in love with it's charm and wit and Fraser and Ray. It was the first episode so great timing too. And they had it schedule set to air one episode in the morning, the same at night, five days a week. Perfect for catching up.
Promos were hilarious too. I should see if any are online.
Oh, and it was original edit, so it had extra scenes like the different Victoria's Secret ones.
So I caught up on the series quick. Also, what I think really cemented my season 1 and 2 love was they played that set for months at least before switching to the 3/4 season. That highlighted the difference in tone to my POV too I think, and it's why I kinda view them apart still.
But I really got to experience show first this way.
I think I found fandom when starting Livejournal same time the show hit resurgence there. And I happily caught the tail end of Yahoo Groups so got to back read fan stuff there. Missed most of Ray Wars. Yay. There was the 2000's snippets, but everyone was so fun at content creation and love, that was the best take-aways. It made for a great time. I participated in a watch-along! A big highlight of fannishness for me! That's when I saw The Pilot. Or my fav was squeeing about Pizza and Promises.
Just, some of the many wonderful fans like Nina_DS and movies_michelle and duenorthlaurie for episode discussion, and Sdwolfpup, Belmanoir, Aingeal8C as content creators, or Scotchsour, and Lozenger8 who made some banging icons....Truly, there were so many wonderful people, I couldn't even name them all. Due South provided so many wonderful glimpses of other fans to share with. LJ friends were so lovely.
I fell out in LJ world strangely cause I felt kinda outside the fandom wave as it crested I think, not shipping F/K or really loving those seasons as much. And just personally felt not into fannishness as whole after awhile. It's a me thing across everything, not just Due South. I took an internet break for a long time. I still watched the series on tv, with Showcase and TV Tropolis and DejaView lol, and by then DVD often. Along with new TV of course, although not much cause Tumblr me is not too different from old LJ me. Still kept an eye of forums, sometimes, or such, cause I love discussion as you can see by my screeds versus tech/creative skills, but not actively or with comment.
I return cause, I don't know, seeing people express love for the series again is hitting a happy place of nostaglia I think. I had a rough bout with real-life and comfort fannish stuff is reminding life was full of small good moments. The joy of the endearing nature of the show and the spirit of love for it in the fandom is proof of stuff enduring. Joy that it's still on rebranded Showcase here on the weekends lol, even if you never know which season.
And a new vidder made a wonderful F/V fanvid that, timing again as I hit Tumblr, I stumbled into, and just had me crying when I watched at the beauty and love I remembered in the pair. It spoke to my love of them so hard I think it jolted me into thinking hell yea that love deserves happy expression, I can do it too maybe. Sadly they took it down, but yeah, that was the spark, and that's me fannish story.

Kissing the homies goodnight for Willie (/Willex) because I feel like Willie would.
Ack I'm so sorry this took so long but here you gooo!
Willie ducked into the kitchen to grab the water pitcher and some glasses, praying he wasn't forgetting anything important. They knew it was just their friends crashed across various surfaces in the living room, but it was still nerve-wracking. Willie hadn't been to a sleepover in like... five years, let alone hosted one. They got why the foster care system had to check over people before they could stay overnight, but with the number of times Willie had moved around since entering the system, it just... had never happened.
Caleb had been hesitant at first when Willie asked if they could all stay over, wanting to ensure Willie was settled himself first. And also wanting to meet all of these kids before he let them have free reign of his home.
But it was finally happening. All of Willie's best friends (and his boyfriend, but they hadn't really managed to wrap their head around that one yet) were lounging in his living room at 2 in the morning, some closer to dozing off than others.
Willie wasn't sure which was stronger: the excitement or the terror of messing this up.
He was pretty sure he hit all the main bits on all the 'how to throw a slumber party' lists he'd found online: pizza, way too many types of ice cream toppings (they're not entirely sure how many of those canned cherries Luke ended up fitting in his mouth), random games (he'd never heard of turning pictionary into a drinking game with shots of soda, but apparently that was a thing his friends did), and a movie with lots of popcorn and cozy blankets.
So they're pretty sure they've done alright thus far.
Still, it'd been a long time since Willie did this.
He re-entered the living room just as Alex managed to grab the TV remote and turn off the rolling credits of Legally Blonde. Flynn looked to already be asleep, lying across one of the air mattresses with her feet up on Julie's stomach. Julie had propped herself up a bit on her elbows and was debating...something with Reggie. Both of them looked closer to dozing off than winning though. Luke and Carrie were both sitting upright on one of the couches, madly swiping on their phones and hissing at each other.
"Do I even want to know?" Willie asked Alex quietly, setting the water and cups down on the coffee table and rejoining him on the loveseat.
Alex groaned. "I made the mistake of telling them there's a PvP mode on this tower defense game they both play."
Willie tried to hold back his giggle. He failed.
Alex attempted to glare at them, but mostly just looked sleepily confused. "I'm serious, we're gonna have to take their phones away now if we want them to sleep," he sighed.
Willie winced. "Any chance the game will kick them off after a few rounds?"
Alex shook his head, then leaned over to rest his head on Willie's shoulder. "And they're both too stubborn to give in, I already tried it."
Willie rested their cheek against his hair, letting their lungs adjust to expanding and contracting in time with the light huffs of Alex's breath against their collarbone. "Is it online?" he asked.
"Yeah, why?" Alex responded, blinking up at him sleepily in the dim light of the lamp.
Willie smirked and pulled out his phone. Okay, so Caleb hadn't technically given him the password for the router, but like... it hadn't been hard. He opened the app on his phone that connected to the electronic and started typing.
Twin cries of annoyance erupted from the pair on the other couch a moment later, informing Willie of his success.
"It just kicked me off!" Luke complained.
"Same here," Carrie griped. "Willie I think your wifi died."
Willie looked up, attempting to look innocent. "Oh yeah, I think you're right," they agreed. "Ugh, this happens sometimes, it will probably come back in an hour or two, but we just gotta wait it out."
Both Luke and Carrie groaned, but seemed to buy it and tossed their phones aside. Carrie peeled off her sweater and tossed it down next to Flynn's head, before pulling a blanket up and over herself and stretching out along the couch. Luke slid down onto the air mattress beside Reggie, koala cuddling against his back. Reggie laughed and shifted over so Luke could share his pillow, still discussing... Okay Willie was pretty sure they were trying to figure out who in their friend group would be whom in Legally Blonde. Fair enough.
Willie felt Alex's tiny sigh of relief against his neck and shivered. It felt nice, being close like this and knowing it made Alex just as fluttery as it did them.
Alex brought his fingers up to his chin, then let his hand move forward, palm up. Thank you.
Willie tucked his phone away. "Don't mention it," he whispered, daring to brush his lips against Alex's forehead.
Alex's cheeks turned pink, but Julie interrupted before Willie could tease him about it.
"Hey, no PDA unless you're willing to share with the class," she mumbled, eyes heavy.
"You're one to talk," Alex pointed out, glancing pointedly between her and Flynn's feet still resting on her abdomen.
"Oh you wanna wake her up?" Julie snarked back, the words slurring together a bit.
"I don't think any of us have that death wish," Willie chuckled. They tapped Alex lightly on the shoulder in warning, then stood up. "And I don't mind sharing." Before Julie could respond, he ducked down and pecked her on the forehead. "Sweet dreams, Juju," they added, throwing a spare blanket over her and heading back toward Alex.
"Hey, we're part of the class too," Reggie called out. When Willie turned, he was sticking his bottom lip out, the puppy eyes mostly hidden by his drooping eyelids.
Willie glanced back at Alex, a little startled, but Alex just shrugged and gave him a sleepy smile. So Willie picked his way around to Reggie and gave him a goodnight kiss too. And then Luke perked up a bit and wanted one. And Carrie said she should get one on Flynn's behalf, since her girlfriend was asleep.
"I guess I should have warned you how clingy we all get this late," Alex murmured when Willie finally made it back to his side. "I kinda forgot you haven't been able to be around this before. Just feels really natural."
"All good," Willie promised around a yawn. "Just tryin'a be a good host."
Alex leaned over and hit the button on the side of the love seat to make it lean back, the extending footrest turning it into more of a bed. "It's perfect," he stated, pulling Willie in to lay beside him.
Willie let out a happy sigh and cuddled in closer. Alex's cool arms soothed the nervous energy that was always humming along their skin. He felt Alex's lips brush against his hairline.
"G'night Lex," they mumbled, eyes slipping shut.
"Good night, Willie."

Dear diary,
I've been thinking why do I care what other people who don't know me say or think about me. I don't need to win some popularity contest yet I realize I've always cared about what others say. I suppose it was because I thought if I was being nice why would anyone be mean? The navieity of that.
I know I shouldn't think more on it, sure was there a little truth to what that random person said? yes but did they consider the effect of the words or give me a chance to better explain stuff so they might have a better understanding? No.
I could have replied with anger which I certainly felt and I could have pointed thier flaws out but I merely acknowledged thier perspective as informative while remaining calm.
I mean you think a person would appreciate calmness over emotional outbursts. Of course that's not to say I am always calm either.
Well onwards to another topic, I watched Red and Red 2 recently and very good movies. I don't care what anyone says there is something sexy about characters that are in the line of dangerous work, like assassins, spies etc. I wouldn't have called the police like the fl, (first movie) obviously Bruce Willis is just gorgeous and he could fuck me anytime.
I completed my workout and added in additional routine sets that I had taken a little break from and I remembered to stretch this time before starting sets, yay me lol.
As I was working out I got annoyed as some days I find it takes a little longer to complete set than other days. Although since recently upped reps it's to be expected that a couple of days may be needed before get into a comfortable pace during set. Honestly I feel like that can be the most difficult finding the right pace and literally remembering to breathe properly during workout sets.
I found a quiz that models or aspiring models use to help guide them with getting into shape and it made me feel so much better about myself. I mean maybe it's silly since I know am not a Victoria secret model physic yet but I am including the link in case others want to take the quiz as well.
It recommends diet and exercise focus regimens as well as has offer for program not that I'll be doing that as prefer not paying to participate in workout programs.
I also don't think it was accurate on diet, like do I love carbs? Absolutely but I can't just eat as many as I like without suffering the consequences.
I also found that my prior liking to believe I was an hourglass figure shape was incorrect so much for being a classic bombshell beauty..... I have a rectangular shape which apparently is considered less womanly and more girly. I'll take it tho as apparently such body types are recommended for model industry.
I also have according to the quiz results have what's classified as an Ectomorph body. It may just be marketing to get people to buy into thier workout program in hopes of achieving model physic of Victoria secret models but thanks for making me feel slightly better about myself.
Of course I think I'll wait til April before purchasing any sexy swimsuits.

five nights at freddys (2023)
by far the most topical review I've given yet. It sure was a movie, even less than Willy's Wonderland (2021) sure was a movie. the horror was kind of good I guess, it was cool to see the animatronics killing people in a movie. but they only had like 2 entire sections of the animatronics killing people or attempting to. and like 3 horror sections where the main character dreams of some child ghosts and they attack him, they show the same dream like three times it's, idk I didn't care for it. the running joke where there's balloon boy jumpscares was funny.
I fuckin' hate that they made Chicas cupcake sentient man it's so stupid, you're not telling me some kid died and was haunting that damn cupcake, or like, Chicas soul was split in 2 and half was in the cupcake? it's stupid, I don't care if it's game accurate they never should've made the cupcake alive in the games. they gave it the fucking killing blow against springtrap not even fucking freddy. freddy doesn't do shit in this movie he didn't even laugh.
They put matpat in the movie and he says "but that's just a theory" so that was lame, -1 point.
Also the whole plot with the main character and his sister and custody and whatnot that gets resolved by golden freddy killing her, that was a bit stupid. she had a lawyer that got like two scenes and is a very memorable character, we're supposed to remember that lawyer guy, he's definitely going to show up in the sequel along with golden freddy more often, and y'know springtrap mr "i always come back" he literally says that, he's going to come back in the next movie
I'm just thinking more about the movie and how mid it was and how clearly it's leading up to a sequel because they designed the movie to be finished by watching the sequel and I'm just getting madder about it even though it wasn't atrocious it was just on the lower-tier of mid.
The whole bit with the drawings was stupid, art is very important to how children see the world which is explained in the movie, so the robots having a picture of the yellow rabbit being nice to them, believe he's cool and friendly, but the kid mc draws a picture of the yellow rabbit being evil so they turn on him, it was stupid.
Fuck idk, they made Mike Schmidt the main character but they hide his last name from you for, reasons? purple guy says a schm noise there's only 2 options for who's mike in the fnaf game. they make purple guy reveal his last name like it's a big deal and it super isn't. also he's a bit shit and not the most likeable but I guess he grows?
The supporting character Vanessa is a cop which is cool, she threatens to shoot mic and throws his sleeping meds in a river (unrelated incidents) so y'know typical cop behavior.
Rating: don't pay money to watch this movie if you download it online for free that's good, if you watch it with friends that's even better, willy's wonderland was easily a better movie and Nicolas Cage didn't even speak during it.

Part 1
Brad: The following is mostly for your information---
Brad: The public relations department has relayed to me that during the next month, Helios∞Channel will be used to hold a campaign to inform the citizens about the dangers of substance.
Brad: Which means us heroes will have to use our respective accounts to post alert messages regarding said substance.
Brad: And until the campaign starts, they’d like for us to post on Helios∞Channel on a day to day basis to garner interest from the citizens.
Brad: This is also applicable to the rookies, each team will have to inform them about it.
Brad: That’s all for the mentor meeting. You’re all dismissed.
Keith: Whew~ Finally done ‘n over~ I’mma leave it here with work too for today
Brad: Keith, there’s something I must discuss with you.
Keith: What now, gonna lecture me again? Cut me some slack. I’ll have ya know that work was only until morning today. So if it ain’t an invitation to drink I don’t wanna hear a thing

Very important for folks wanting to use OpenAI!
I know many people have been hopping OpenAI text thanks to the “ai greentext” memes, myself included. However there’s a few things to know that I wish I knew before signing up willy-nilly.
TLDR version:
Not free

OpenAI is NOT FREE
0 of the shared links I’ve seen for OpenAI state nothing about how it’s only a free trial (more on that). Plus in the minimal research I did before joining, I read that they had “opened to the public”, which I mistook as “free for all”. Definitely not the case, as it turns out.
2. Joining OpenAI gives you a FREE TRIAL
When you sign up for OpenAI, it starts up a free trial for you. You can use everything the AI has to offer, but you’ll notice that every generated prompt mentions how it will cost X amount of “tokens”. This is because…
3. OpenAI gives you a GRANT OF $18
When checking my account page for the first time, I was shocked to find a chart recording every time I used the ai. This chart took my usage and converted it into money to charge me with. DO NOT PANIC! When signing up for OpenAI, it doesn’t ask you for account information, so you are not secretly being charged while you goof off with the ai. The free trial basically starts adding up your usage of the ai to an allotted $18. If you used it everyday for example, you’d probably rack up a few cents per day (I’m not sure, but I think simply logging in to your account also adds to the money chart).
4. OpenAI will allow you to PAY OR LEAVE
In my panic of not realizing this was a paid service, I frantically messaged their support team, begging for them to delete my account (the support team takes about a day to answer back). When they did answer, they calmly explained to me that, whenever the trial runs out or if I hit the $18 grant before then, I will be prompted to either put my account info in if I want to stay, or simply leave and won’t be able to use it anymore. They do not force you to put your account info in. The support team was very nice and helped me through my initial panic, so props to them.
5. OpenAI asks for your PHONE NUMBER
When signing up for OpenAI, it asks for your phone number so it can send you a code to continue into the website. I have nothing else to add, this is just for those who are weary about this kinda thing.
6. OpenAI doesn’t have a DELETE ACCOUNT OPTION
When I first saw the website was beginning to charge me money, I panicked and frantically searched for some way to delete my account. There were 0 options available, and looking it up online didn’t help at all either. I can only assume that if you leave after your free trial, the people behind the ai delete the account. I do think this is kinda scummy, so be weary of that.
Most of this is probably my fault for simply not reading the instructions or rules for it, but I hope this helps out a few people.

Destiny 2 is a game that makes me despair.
At its core, it's a game. Shooting guns feels good, many abilities are really fun to use, and the unique traits of exotic weapons and armour are mostly all really cool. There's a genuinely interesting world with fascinating lore involving complex cosmic powers that have mortal morals thrust upon them and the various species involved with them.
But it's all enshrouded in MMO grind hell, bland storytelling, and somewhat obnoxious epic badass characters.
The idea of Light and Dark not being good and evil is being sloooowly explored as our characters gain access to useful Darkness powers. But it's hidden behind background chatter during gunfights and platforming, or optional dialogue. Or worse, tucked away lore articles unlocked via grind-y challenges.
The idea of the Darkness' "existence is the struggle to exist" philosophy enforcing metaphysical social darwinism to create a perfectly self-sufficient culture (called a "final shape") is really cool. The idea of the Light going around seeding life and giving people powers willy nilly because it wants to see endless "novel patterns" and then just leaving because it doesn't actually love you or anything is INTERESTING. Especially since the Dark is very willing to be your personal god.
I am by no means a new player. I got suckered in by an online friend a couple months ago, so my knowledge is somewhat limited, to be fair. But the "main" antagonists, the (deliberately evolved to be) fearsome and macabre alien Hive race, are so fucking cool but so little of their brutal and fascinating "sword logic" culture is given heavy exploration, even in a campaign where they're the main focus (the Witch Queen campaign, exploring Light-powered Hive, would have made a great excuse to explore the differences going on!). They become strong because literally, metaphysically, might makes right for them, and this makes them "sharp", allowing them to just cut holes in space to teleport their ships and do weird sorcery.
I can't stop thinking about what if Destiny wasn't a grindy MMO with shit tier sweatlord PVP, and all those cool exotics were your base gear to play around with in a tightly constructed linear adventure across the cosmos battling and making allies with Fallen/Eliksni, Cabal, Awoken, all leading up to a big fight against the Hive and their Taken stuff. Throw the Vex robots in there somewhere I guess. Add to that the breaking down of the strict dogma of Traveller/Light good, Dark bad as you unlock new powers in a desperate war against alien god-kings and witch-queens, bam, good stuff.
Give me some Ahamkara DLC! Let's hunt down a wish-dragon, get granted some stuff and find out oh no this actually makes us its slave and go on a quest to free ourselves. Throw all this really cool stuff you've made at us! Use the word paracausal as many times as you want!
And yet here I am, still gonna grind Iron Banner PVP just so I can unlock some leg armour cosmetics I will then have to further grind for to be able to even equip.

What's Dancing with the Queens Stars?
We team up Queens Community members with our Queensboro Dance Festival choreographers to perform a short duet together. A community panel of judges score each dance, and highest score wins. There's also a Fan Favorite award where the audience gets to vote for their favorite team!

New Hours at Lions Automobilia Foundation and Museum
One of my favorite museums in SoCal is making some changes. I’ll let them tell you about it.

Lions Automobilia Foundation Announces Expanded Schedule
Rancho Dominguez, CA (March 30, 2023) - Beginning in April, the Lions Automobilia Foundation and Museum will expand the days and hours that it will be open to the public. Beginning April 1, 2023, the Museum and Car Collection will be open at 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM each Wednesday and Saturday to accommodate the large interest in visiting the vast facility.
According to Museum Director Lana Chrisman, “We have seen a tremendous increase in those fans of the automobile culture who want to visit and explore our beautiful collection of hot rods, movie cars, race cars, muscle cars, Lions memorabilia and especially the recreation of the iconic Lions Dragstrip Starting Line. So, after the tremendous event held last weekend for Tri-Five Celebration of Chevy’s, the Board of Directors decided to open on Wednesdays and earlier at 9:00 AM.”
Starting in April, the museum admission fee is $20 for adults, with Seniors, Military and Youth (ages 4-17) at $15, children under 4 are free. The extensive car collection also includes movie car replicas such as the Batmobile, Back to the Future’s DeLorean, the General Lee, Thelma and Louise’s Cadillac, TV’s KITT Trans Am and the Bullitt Mustang among others.
The Museum’s huge collection of Willy’s coupes and sedans is unrivaled, most having been restored in-house in the museum shops. On loan to the Museum, currently, is the Big John Mazmanian candy apple 1941 Willys and the metallic blue Stone Woods and Cook “Swindler 2”, two iconic Southern California racers.
Board Chairman and Founder Rick Lorenzen enthusiastically invites all fans of our Car Culture to the Lions Automobilia Foundation and Museum with our new hours. In support of local car clubs, upcoming events are April 15th with the Chariots Car Club and the Roar of Lions on June 17th including the Outlaw Gassers of Southern California. Stop by early for a donut and coffee at Rick’s Cafe!
