Ratchet and Kim Possible Chronicles: Anti-Corporation-Part 11

They remained silent for a bit as they were leaving the planet’s atmosphere. Ratchet: “Wow…what was that all about?” Kim: “I know; she seemed so…uh, incredibly happy us saving this planet.”  

Soon enough, Wade’s image, appeared on the screen. Wade: “Markazia is Talwyn’s home planet. Her entire race, the Markazians, is all from there.” Ratchet: “Huh, how about that? No wonder why she was so adamant about thanking us.” Kim: “I can understand how she feels; it would be like if she went out of her way to save Earth or Fastoon.” Ratchet: “Or…even Veldin…”  

They paused again for a brief moment. Ratchet: “So, Wade? Any ideas on what Hench Co. plans on using that acid for?” Wade: “Not really sure, I’ll never to look into the data to find out.” Ratchet: “OK, let us know if you find anything.”

They flew through space. Along the way, Ratchet pushed a few buttons on the console. Ratchet: “So, Talwyn, what’s the sitch?”  

Talwyn reappeared on the screen. Talwyn: “You never get tired of saying that, do you?” Ratchet: “Well, it does serve a significant meaning to me.”

He smiled at Kim as she smiled back at him. Talwyn: “Anyway, I just want to let you know that since we feel as though this whole issue with Hench Co. is way too much for you guys to hand by yourselves, we’ve asked some of our friends to help out with this mission. They also want to say hi to you guys.”

Soon enough, the screen split and displayed images of different groups of their friends: one group consisted of Ron, Yori and Rufus, another showed Lilo and Stitch to the left of the former group, another displayed Qwark next to Lilo and Stitch, there was also Wade right next to Talwyn on the bottom segment of the screen and to the right of him was a blank screen. They all greeted Kim, Ratchet and Clank. Kim: “Guys! Hey! I didn’t expect to see all of you again so soon!!!” Ratchet: “Hey! How’s it going?” Ron: “KP! Ratchet! Clank! We’re so happy to see you again!” Yori: “Yes, we are truly elated to see you and we are especially ecstatic with helping you out in your time of need.” Rufus: “Yay! Clank!” Kim: “We appreciate it, you guys. We don’t like to have anyone else involved in this mess, but given how much we have to deal with, any extra help is always welcome.” Yori: “It is no trouble, Kim Possible; you as well as Ratchet-San and Clank will always have my full support. Also, we cannot allow these illicit marauders to get away with their heinous crimes.” Ron: “Oh, absolutely. It’s bad enough that Hench Co. was committing horrible crimes on Earth, but to provide their services to criminals here in Polaris and cause all sorts of problems throughout the entire galaxy? No way! Those guys are going down!” Rufus: “Yeah!!”

Everyone else responded in a positive manner, with Talwyn and Wade just smiling. Ratchet: “Wow, thank you, everyone. I really feel so much better about this.” Ron: “No prob, Ratchet, you know that I’ve got your back.” Yori: “Yes, it would be our honor to, as Stoppable-San had just said, we have your backs. And friends of Stoppable-San and Kim Possible shall always be friends of mine as well. Do not forget this, Ratchet-San and you, too, Clank.”

Ratchet seemed touched by this, Clank let out another of his signature giggles. Lilo: “Aloha, you guys!” Kim: “Lilo! Stitch!” Stitch: “Aloha, Kim, Ratchet and Clank.” Clank: “Why, aloha to you, Stitch, and you as well, Miss Lilo.” Lilo: “Just want to let you know that our Ohana are here and raring to help you guys out however we can.” Stitch: “Ih! Our Ohana and us are always ready to bring down and chase away all the bad men for all of you.” Kim: “Aww, well, thank you, guys. I really don’t know what to say.” Ratchet: “Yeah, though, I really do feel kind of bad for dragging all of you into this.”  

Lilo shook her head. Lilo: “Don’t worry about that, Ratchet; you, Kim and Clank have been working real hard on saving Polaris from those bad people from that evil company, so we felt that we had to o something to help you out.” Stitch: “Ih! Aka Chunga! Lilo and Stitch always happy to help Kim, Ratchet and Clank whenever we can.” Clank: “Well, that is very considerate of you guys.” Lilo: “Think nothing of it, Clank.” Stitch: “Ih! Naga Busa.” Qwark: “Um, hey there, guys?” Kim: “Captain Qwark?” Qwark: “I’m…also here to help.” Kim: “You? Really? What could you possibly do?” Qwark: “Hey! Don’t be like that, young lady! I’ll have you know that I helped you out several times in the past.” Kim: “That may be true, but you’ve hardly done much to impress us; much less put forth any real effort that’s worth any major praises.”

Everyone else on the screen nodded. Qwark let out a dejected groan. Qwark: “Don’t I get any gratitude from any of you guys? Well, I’ll show all of you that I can really pull my own weight out there on the field.” Ratchet: “Yeah, we’ll see about that, Qwark.” Wade: “I’ll…be sure to keep a close eye on him, encase he does something that gets him in over his head.” Kim: “Knowing Qwark, that’s a given.”

Everyone nodded and made different comments again as Qwark pouted. Talwyn: “I, of course, will be out on the field, as well. In fact, I’m already out here with Cronk and Zephyr.” Cronk: “Dang nabbit! What’s with all them astro-whozits gettin’ in the way n’ all?” Zephyr: “Pay attention, ya durn fool! Are you tryin’ to get us blown to smithereens?” Cronk: “What cha think I’m doin’? Playin’ tidily winks? I am payin’ attention, ya ijit!” Zephyr: “Cronk! Watch out for that…!”

A loud crash was heard. Everyone that heard it flinched. Zephyr: “I told ya to pay attention! We nearly got killed by that blasted space debris!” Cronk: “Will ya keep quiet!?! I wouldn’t be havin’ such a hard time if you weren’t yappin’ so much.” Talwyn: “Another thing I should mention: with me, Cronk and Zephyr out here, there no one manning mission control. We need someone on the helms just like we promised the Polaris Defense Force after they allowed up to use it; we got lucky the last time since it was kind of an emergency.” Kim: “Yeah…that goes without saying…” Ratchet: “So…you have someone there this time, right?” Talwyn: “You bet and you’ll never believe we have asked to take on that responsibility. Go on, guess who they are.” Ratchet: “Wait, they?”

Just then, an image on the blank portion of the screen switched on and displayed an image of Felix and Zita at Mission Control. Felix: “Hey, guys. Long time no see.” Ratchet: “Felix? Zita? Is that you?” Felix: “Yep, sure is.” Zita: “How have you guys been doing? We’ve been greatly eager to see you again!” Kim: “Same here! What have you guys been up to since the last time we met?” Zita: “Well, to put it in a few words; we’ve been busy with a lot of school stuff over the past few years.” Ratchet: “I’ll say you have; Ron had told me that you both have been taking a lot of classes.” Felix: “Oh, you bet! We took on so many advance courses: Robotic, Advanced Computing, Alien Mechanics, Astronomy, Quantum Physics. We were really busy with school.” Zita: “All of those courses were indeed very difficult but we excelled at them, so much so that advanced alien races were impressed by us.” Felix: “We were able excel to where we continued our courses on other planets. I’d say we learned more than we possibly could on Earth. These advanced alien academics made highly sophisticated universities on Earth seem like minor adolescent schools in comparison.” Clank: “Yes and although your standard Earth academics are indeed extensively knowledgeable, there is much that is lacking due to the inhabitants needing to expand their horizons beyond their planet.” Ratchet: “Yeah, considering that the humans have only known about 1 inhabitable planet. Although, we really are impressed by your wanting to extend your know-how and being able understand so much more than what you could comprehend from just living on Earth.” Clank: “Indeed.” Talwyn: “Felix and Zita decided they would like to take all they have learned and apply it to helping out our mission. So, they will be monitoring Mission Control for us.” Ratchet: “Wow, that’s…really great.” Zita: “When Talwyn informed us that they needed someone to monitor this place, we were more than happy to take on the position.” Kim: “We really appreciate it, you guys.” Felix: “Eh, it’s no big deal, really, we like to think of this as an extra curricular course. Now we can really put our schooling and know-how to the test.” Ron: “Alright! And while you guys take on the complex, technical stuff, we’ll take on the awesome and…sometimes dangerous fieldy stuff.” Qwark: “Ah, well said, Stillsworth; the awesome action-y dangers of the field beats sitting in front of the computer and trying to figure out how to get the dang thing to work.” Talwyn: “No kidding, considering that you don’t even know how to turn it on.”

Everyone laughed. Lilo: “Even I could figure out how to do that and I’m not even in high school yet.” Stitch: “Ih!” Ron: “And it’s Stoppable, by the way.” Qwark: “Oh, I see what you mean; just being able to work the dang thing is exactly that.” Felix: “OK, I haven’t been listening to this guy run his massive jaw for a minute and already I have headache.” Kim: “Yeah, Qwark kind of has that impression on us.” Ratchet: “You get use to it.” Talwyn: “Well, regardless, with those 2 monitoring Mission Control, I’m confident that everything is in capable hands.” Kim: “Alright! Let’s see to it that we put an end to Hench Co.’s schemes and chase them out of Polaris for good.”

Everyone commented in a positive manner. Zita: “Certainly. It will be our pleasure.” Clank: “So, then, where shall we go from here?” Felix: “Hm…let me check…” Wade: “At the moment, each of us really have the situation handled from here. We’ve sent each of them to the different planets that Justine has on the list.” Felix: “He’s right; everything’s being accounted for, at least for the moment.” Zita: “The only thing that we haven’t been able to have anyone address is a massive cargo ship containing a multitude of cargo.” Kim: “Any ideas on what that cargo could be?” Zita: “Not really sure, but from what Justine had mentioned on this data disc, it’s something that she’s really worried about.” Felix: “Perhaps you guys would like to handle this.” Kim: “Sure, we’ll head over towards that cargo ship and see what it is that has Justine worried.” Ratchet: Any ideas on where it is?” Felix: “We’re tracking it now. It should be several parsecs from you current location.” Clank: “We are picking up on the signal of the cargo ship now.” Ratchet: “Alright, you guys, let’s go.”

And with that, they flew off at great speed.

we really missed out on more of the extended kp friend squad hanging out and having fun together 🥺

Well, another day, another pic. This one came by way of a scene from one of my fanfics, entitled "The Possible Substitution Squad". After Kim, Ron and Max save Wade, Rufus, Monique, Felix and Zita from the Bebe bots and their new AI Queen, everyone falls back to Bueno Nacho for a well-deserved break. However, since Kim and Ron were interrupted in the middle of an all-night, globetrotting date to come to the rescue, they're still naturally in quite an amorous mood...which naturally leads to some affectionate displays. As you can see, they have a few onlookers taking in the moment as well. But it's not so much the kissing that's catching their attention as the continuous murmurs that are traded back and forth between Kim and Ron as their lips remain locked together. There's even a point in the middle of the kiss where Kim giggles... "Okay…were they ACTUALLY just making out and having a conversation at the same time," Felix asks. "Oh, probably," Max answers simply, being the only one who didn't bother to look. "Actually, I'm kind of impressed. Their lung capacity is excellent." I vaguely recall how this pic took way to long to complete at the time, but what can I say?  I dawdled. I spent too much time admiring my work at various stages...particularly going back to the Kim/Ron kiss as I was especially proud of how that turned out. Hopefully everyone else is just as pleased with it.^_^

K-P-1-8 - Chapter 4

Chapter 4

(March 6, 2007, 2:05pm, 5 days before Kim's 18th Birthday)

The sign on the Middleton High Readerboard said “Spring Break Next Week: Please Don't Get Arrested”.

Kim came up to Monique's locker while the transition to 6th period was going on. Kim was in her pink t-shirt with her baggy Club Banana dark denim overalls with the left strap hooked and right strap undone and red sneakers. As per the Middleton High dress code, however, Kim tucked in the undone strap to her overalls so that it would not poke someone's eye out. Monique went with a blue croptop and, like Kim, also went with the CB Dark Denim Baggy Overalls, but decided to go with the bib-down-but straps hooked route with a CB belt to hold them up and brown boots.

“Monique! I got great news!” Kim exclaimed.

“Spill, Kim! But you got only 60 seconds to do it!” Monique said, pointing to the clock.

“Okay, for my birthday that is coming up, I would suggest that we should hold a slumber party that weekend!” Kim explained her plan.

“Girl, that is totally ab-fab!” Monique exclaimed with a shrill cry for joy, “But is it going to be just us two?” “Nah, I've already talked with Tara, Jess, and Crystal and they're in as well!” Kim said, “Zita is still up in the air though. Said she got some big Everlot video game tournament going on that weekend. I'll hear back from her after cheer practice.”

“Sounds like a good plan, girl!” Monique said before hearing the bell ring. “We gotta get to AP European History before Barkin catches us playing hooky again!”

Kim nodded her head and both she and Monique headed off to class.

(4:49pm)

Kim exited the gym after cheer practice with Jessica and Tara right behind her. Tara wore her varsity jacket over her CB Denim Jumpsuit. She unbuttoned the top three buttons to reveal an Oh Boyz t-shirt. Tara accessorized the outfit with giant gold hoop earrings and two gold CB bracelets on her right hand. Jessica was, like Kim, wearing her Club Banana dark denim overalls but she wore them in the style of Rachelle Greenwood from Pals in which she undid both straps with the bib flopping. The buckles to the undone straps were constantly clinking behind her back. But unlike Bonnie, who normally wore hers in that manner, she did not show off her undergarments. She had a CB belt worn at the waist to prevent her parents from grounding her if she did that. She topped the  90s-like outfit with her orange long-sleeve shirt and red sneakers.

“So what time do you think we should be at your house for Friday, Kim?” Jessica asked.

“I think around 7:00 would be the perfect time.” Kim replied. “But, again, gotta get that permish from the 'rents to have more than 4 friends in the house.” “That's always important.” Tara added. “My parents were very picky about it as well.” “But what's next on the list?” Tara then asked.

“Let's see, there's the food and the cake as well.” Kim said, digging her hands into her overalls pockets.“

Jessica replied, “I think me and Tara can stop by M-Mart for some chips, nuts, a lot of candy....” “Just be sure to get the candy away from the Tweebs.” Kim suggested, “You do NOT want to know what happened on my birthday last year!”

(flashbacks to last March 11, 2006)

The Tweebs were on a sugar high, flying their jet packs throughout Middleton! They also were reading off of Kim's diary.

“Come back here you two!!” Kim exclaimed in anger as she and both the DrsP squared gave chase on their minivan.

“It took us an hour to get that diary back from those two...” she muttered. “Good thing that they are going to some sleepover over at their friends' house across the street.”

Jessica said with confidence. “Don't worry. It's gonna be just us girls over at your house this weekend.” “What about the guys?” Tara asked.

“Ron told me that he, Felix, Jamarcus, and Jason are going to play video games.” Kim said, “Only thing is who's going to host the thing.” _____________________________________________________________________________ On the other side of the school, Ron and Jamarcus were playing Rock, Paper, Scissors with Felix and Jason looking on. Ron had won two rounds while Jamarcus has also won two rounds in the best-of-five series.  Rufus served as the referee for the game.

“Okay, whomever wins this round will host the Zombie Mayhem tournament while the loser will have to chug a two-liter Diet Smarty-Mart cola bottle!” Ron replied.

“You're on, Stoppable!” Jamarcus grinned.

The two football team-mates both chanted at the same time.

“Rock, Paper, Scissors....Go!” Rufus squeaked in as well. Ron extended his hand for a paper motion and Jamarcus fashioned his hands for scissors.

“Scissors won, which means I won!” the star Mad Dog wide receiver chuckled.

“It's official!” Felix decreed. “We're going to have the Zombie Mayhem tournament at Jamarcus' house!”

“Good game, Jamarcus!” Ron replied, complimenting on his team-mate's victory.

“And you're just in luck, Felix.” Jamarcus added, “I recently bought the Z-Boy 2 and all four Zombie Mayhem games should be compatible with it!” “Boo- yah!” Ron exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air. “I'll bring my controller along!” ______________________________________________________________________________

“I think the guys will have a good time.” Kim laughed.

“Yeah, it's a nice slight change of pace from the original dinner-and-a-movie date night with our respective Bfs.” Jessica agreed.

“It is.” Kim admitted, “Though I do hope Ron has a good birthday gift in store for me on the 11th.”

“Lemme guess...he gave you a bad gift last year?”  Tara asked.

“Ding-ding! You guessed right, Tara.” Kim sighed. “In addition to a Bueno Nacho Bueno Bucks book, he gave me a nose hair clipper.” “Ewww....” Jess replied with disgust.

“I so don't wanna know!” Tara agreed.

“Exactly on the gorch factor!” Kim said, “That's why I asked Ron earlier today to step up his A-game in gift-giving for me now that we are a couple.” “And how did he react?” Jessica asked.

“He said that he's all for it!” Kim replied, “We'll have to wait and see, though.”

Yeah, seeing how Felix and Zita would interact as a couple would be nice, and so would Bonnie and Junior since they got together near the end too.

Team Go would be interesting too as they're Shego's brothers, and she has twice as many siblings as Kim does.

I honestly have questions about Team Go, especially with the Wego twins? Like, they seem so much younger than their siblings, and I can't help but notice that they're only ever referred to as "the twins" so I don't even know if they have their own names anymore or if they're just known as the collective "Wego"? And again, the age difference - are they older than they seem, or were they just super young when they got their powers?

I'd also like to see Team Go actually interact with Drakken, because I'm pretty sure they never have any direct stuff between them? It'd be especially interesting in stuff that took place during or after the last season, where Drakken and Shego's relationship goes from this thing where you get the feeling they're closer than just a boss and employee, but don't quite know how to define it, to actually being a couple. And there is no way Shego's brothers wouldn't have something to say about the relationship, good or bad.

What would you have changed about the Kim Possible live action?

To start on a very oddly specific note: I get what they were trying to do with all of Kim's random flips and tumbleturns etc, but it really highlighted to me that some movements which look fine in a cartoon look absolutely unnatural in real life. I think they did some cartoony things great - Drakken and Shego still have big Cartoon Villain energy to them, and the school setting looked almost exactly as it does on the show which was neat!

But some of the action visuals did not translate well to live action. I'm not sure what I would have changed exactly, but the scene where Kim's running for the schoolbus and does a bunch of unnecessary flippy stuff went straight into Narm territory to me and that's the one I'm thinking about here. Keep the flips for the fight scenes, maybe?

Changing the setting: A timeskip with an older Kim and Ron would have allowed them to take the plot in a bigger and more grandiose direction. Replicating the animated show felt like a waste, really. Give Drakken and Shego some huge mega death laser (I can't remember what schemes they've done exactly... something they haven't done, but big and ridiculous and overambitious) or find a way to bring the aliens back! Dip into some of the show's lore (Team Go, Global Justice, or any of the bizarre worldbuilding around the fact that supervillains walk around everyday places in their costumes and no one bats an eye!)

Seeing Kim and Ron in university or jobs would fit with that theme of 'taking a step up' that just makes sense for a big budget movie. Fans of the show already saw Kim in high school, let's take the chance to see her somewhere different (in a setting that we're not constantly visually comparing with its animated counterpart).

Monique. WHERE WAS SHE I'M SO MAD. Same for the other secondary/tertiary characters, even if it's just cameos. Felix, Zita, Josh! The characters, even the less prominent ones, help make the world of KP what it is. It would have been nice for the movie to acknowledge more of them. I'd have liked the movie to have given us more things that built upon the world we knew and loved instead of ditching half of it.

Drakken and Shego were honestly great and so was Ron's casting. Kim's vibe felt... off. She's got insecurities but the movie put too much emphasis on those insecurities IMO. Kim's charisma is intense though, so I get it's hard for a young actress to pull off.

All in all, something dramatic and plotty and funny and ridiculous and grandiose that felt bigger than high school drama, really.

For you KP fans out there, you're no doubt thinking, "Wait a second...This doesn't look like any Bebe robot I'VE ever seen.  But why does she look like I've seen her somewhere before?".  To answer this, I direct you to my fanfic, "The Possible Substitution Squad".  Kim and Ron swear off crimefighting for 24 hours so they can share one romantic evening alone.  Unfortunately, their decision comes at the same time Dr. Vivian Fraces Porter, noted robotics authority, is abducted.  Not wanting to call Kim and Ron in, Wade assembles a crack team made up of Monique, Felix Renton and Zita Florez to investigate. But they soon find themselves in WAY over their heads when it's discovered that Vivian's kidnappers are in fact the Bebe robots, once again rebuilt.   Siphoning Vivian's memories of a project she was developing to combine Artificial Intelligence with nanotechnology, they are finally able to construct their perfect leader.  And Queen Vivi is born with an AI mind and a body composed entirely of nanotech (and combining many of Vivian's impressive physical features with the original Bebes design, hence her unique look). Ironically, Vivi's brain is an actual computer terminal.  Her body is merely an avatar she uses to interact with the physical world.  But thanks to her nanotech physique, her morphing abilities are nearly infinite, to the point where she's able to fight Kim, Ron AND Maximillion to a standstill.  Only a last-ditch effort from Wade and their friends are able to shut down Vivi's brain and save the day. But is Vivi truly gone for good?  Everyone knows the Bebes have had a long history of coming back after being scrapped.  So Vivi could still make her return, in ways not yet foreseen.  For now, enjoy this image of Vivi in her original form, showing her future subjects a mere taste of what her morphing abilities can do. What would you have changed about the Kim Possible live action?

I'm totally glad that you asked that, Anon. If I had the power to change up the KP live-action movie, the following changes would be made:

Keep the cheerleading aspect intact. We all know that Kim has been a cheerleader from junior high all through high school and it is a primary source in her crime-fighting arsenal (to go along with her knowing 16-styles of Kung-fu). That and at least see her cheer at a football game (being a football statistician, football is the biggest revenue sport for the other sports at a school because it draws the largest crowds. But I digress.... :P)

More interaction between Bonnie and Kim. (being the Bonnie fan that I am, this is obvious XD ) Through the LAM, we only got about two-and-a-half minute interaction between them through the 87-minute movie. If it were me, I would make it at least 8-12 minutes in a 2-hour film and really establish their rivalry.

More of James and the Tweebs. I would really love to see how much of a pain Jim and Tim would be to Kim, especially if they operate any drones. And I would really love to hear James say Kimmie-cub...and Kim would be like "Dad, I know you love to call me that, but please do not say it in public..."

A more convincing plot twist than what we got with Athena.

Show us at least a couple of the minor characters, in particular Monique, Tara, Felix, and Zita!

And this is the most important change of all: Balance out Kim's emotions. Remember that she is calm and cool when it comes to saving the world, but she finds high school, crushes, and social life at MHS much harder to deal with. She needs a strong friend system with Ron, Monique, Tara, Felix and Zita to weather the storms of MHS.

If I had the power at Disney, these would be the changes I would've made to make the movie better. Anywho, thanks for the question, anon.

I'm realizing on my first full watch through Kim Possible that there are so many characters in the world I want to see more episodes about. Team Go, Felix and Zita, Bonnie and Junior, Hana, Kim's villains, even freaking Gill. There's so much that can be done with all of them.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you on that. That's always the kind of double-edged sword when a series has a lot of interesting characters outside of the main cast, I think? Because especially when there's a decent amount of them, you kind of know it's unlikely they'll get as much screentime for them as you'd like.

Personally, I'd be really interested in learning the implied love story between Zita and Felix, since I don't remember them ever being shown interacting until the finale revealed they were dating? Which I'm totally fine with, since it really doesn't feel like it fits "pair the spares" due to them being fairly minor characters overall, but I'd have loved to have gotten an episode that maybe started their romance?
