💛Welcome to Year 5 of Fluff-uary, with new prompts!💛
FLUFF-uary is a creation celebration designed to display all your sweetness and light for the whole month of February. There will be a prompt for each day and you can do as many as you like, in any combination or order.
Feel free to write, draw, edit photos/videos…whatever you’re inspired to create. Have fun, it’s not a contest. You can join in for the whole month, do one or two, or even come up with your own. Do it at your own pace, even after February is over. There’s no word or size limits or restrictions other than to keep it sweet (no whump, please – we’re all about the comfort zone here).
When uploading your fluffs, please tag properly with the prompt, the tag fluffuary2024, and any other applicable tags (like genre, characters, any content warnings if you decide to go NSFW etc.) Any questions can be directed @ir0n-angel and @crackinglamb.

Chapter 7 - Lunacy**
She beamed at him sideways, still watching the moons separate in the sky. “’S lovely.”
“Yes.”
“You been quiet tonight. Cat got your tongue?”
“You.” He watched the flush rise, felt the change in her pheromones as it dawned on her what he meant. Her grin turned a little shy – even now, even after all their travels and adventures and everything – and he smiled down at her, for one moment perfectly content to bask in her radiance. “C’mon, the dancing’s gonna get more like dancing by the second.”
“To the TARDIS?” she asked, mildly doubtful since it was parked fairly far away.
“Nah, we can just head back to the Helox’s place. This’ll all be over by morning and we can make our goodbyes.”
“Sounds good to me.”

Chapter 26 - Wonderland
Vellenuff was a frozen world, although it wasn’t extreme by any measure. In fact, the inhabitants had marketed their year round snow and ice into a tourist attraction. The Doctor had brought Rose there to enjoy it. She exclaimed that she had never seen so much snow in one place that wasn’t actively trying to kill them, and he laughed, because she wasn’t really wrong. And then she was laughing too as they left the TARDIS.
She took in the sights with wonder in her eyes, still game to try anything once with him. It made his hearts lighter to think about, the joy she took in their adventuring. From the very first day until now, she had looked upon the universe as if it was new and undiscovered. It had been too long since he could genuinely say he had more fun than despair. And he had her to thank for that.
“Whaddya think, shall we join the free for all?” she asked, pointing over a hill where a snowball fight was spread out between two lines of tourists.
“Might not be fair, my aim is better than yours.”
“Oh, you think? It is so on, mister!” she cried, giving him a shove. He grinned at her, having known the little taunt would be enough to challenge her. They ran to the hill and she drew away from him to join the side that appeared to be losing the battle. She always liked rooting for the underdog and he snorted good-naturedly as he gathered up his first handful of snow to pack.

Chapter 24 - Meeting
“Where we off to then?” she called to the Doctor as he did his usual manic dance around the console, flipping levers and cranking wheels, seemingly oblivious to the shaking of the ship.
“Atrassis,” he shouted over the whir and buzz of moving through the Vortex.
Rose stumbled to the jump seat but didn’t try to sit on it. She just gripped the railing behind it – no longer wondering why it was conveniently covered with padding, not after all this time – and watched him bound around the console again, banging a rubber mallet against a bell. They were materializing, and she knew to hold on tight. “What’s on Atrassis, then?”
“Earthquake.”

Her eyes sparkled, as if she’d heard that even though it was buried behind several layers of mental shielding.
“Figured you were havin’ fun among all the pretty boys tonight.”
She cast a glance over the room and, to his amusement, it was a little disparaging. “They’re nice enough to look at, I guess. But most of them have air between their ears. Not really my type.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah.” She looked back at him. “I’ve already got the one I want.”

Chapter 22 - Words
“Hullo,” she said, stifling a yawn behind her hand. The Doctor sort of smiled at the so human behavior and lifted his arm so she could snuggle up close to him under it.
“Hello,” he replied.
“Pretty good view.”
Outside the TARDIS was a massive nebula, spiraling with every color she could think of. She knew the Doctor was probably categorizing each and every gaseous molecule and could give her a lecture on the makeup and composition of the stars and space dust. He could tell her if anything lived there, with this as their night sky. Or if it was young, just starting its journey through the universe. But he didn’t. He just sat and watched it, enjoying it like a sunrise. And to be sure, there was no better kind than this.

“’M sorry, Rose. Sorry for all the dangers I’ve put you in, and all the times I could have lost you. I promise to do better.”
“Easy to say,” she sighed, echoing his own earlier Mary Poppins thought. Her eyes were still closed, but the bond they shared had grown bright and solid again. She was back with him in the land of the living.
“No more dangerous adventures for a while, yeah?”
Her lips curved up in the corners, not quite a smile but the beginnings of one. “Never go anywhere that way. You’d get bored.”
“Not with you.”
Again her lips quirked, but this time she didn’t try to argue with him.

Chapter 17 - Sonic
He was up to his elbows in the wires, holding two of them together so they didn’t short when it dropped out of his grip. Well, he supposed that’s what he got for trying to do too many things at once.
“Rose, love? Could you come give me a hand?”
He heard her trainers on the grating a few seconds later, then saw her jeans clad legs come into view. “Did you drop it again?”
“Oi, you don’t have to take that tone.”
She giggled and eased under the grating with him. It was cramped, for sure, and he supposed he should count his lucky stars that such a thing didn’t bother them now that they were literally in each other’s pockets at times. Among other things. He tried to make more room for her, but there wasn’t much to be had and she practically slid down his front until she was crouched by his boots. He very strictly kept his mind on the matter in hand and not where she was presently distracting him.
“Got it,” she said, and reversed her slow slide back up until she could aim the sonic screwdriver where he wanted it. “You shoulda just had me helping you all along, you know.”
He glared at her, too busy keeping his bypass from kicking in to put into words what her proximity did to his otherwise magnificent brain. Speaking of shorting out. “Setting 23,” he said instead. “And hold it til I say.”
“Yes, sir, Doctor, sir.”
Oh, she was in a mood today.

Foreheads touching, she couldn’t help but fall into him, the vastness of his mind that was similar to how it felt to look into the heart of the TARDIS. He thought she brought light into his being, and maybe she did. But what he brought to her was space to shine, incandescent and brilliant as a star.

“Just another day in the life of saving the universe.”
He left the console and came to her side, dropping a kiss on the end of her nose. “You ever think about how ridiculous it is?”
“All the time. Like, how is this your life?”
“Oi, it’s yours too.”
“Only because you drag me along.” She knew she was playing with fire and offered him his favorite tongue-touched grin to compensate. His eyes twinkled and his face was alight with mirth. She loved it when he was like this. He pulled her in with an arm around her waist and spun her, making her giggle as they careened around the console room unsteadily.
“Oh yes, you look pretty unwilling. Fightin’ me off, tooth and claw.”
“That’s tooth and nail, Doctor. Human, me.”
“Eh, more or less.”

Chapter 25 - Sleep
“Come closer,” she said, drifting off again even before he could answer. Well, they had nowhere to be, so he shrugged out of his leather and took off his boots.
“Budge up, then.”
She made a sort of complaining groan but shifted backwards on the settee to give him room. Not that there was much, but it was enough to lay face to face, bodies snug together from shoulders to knees. He brushed back a lock of hair that fell across her face and watched her slip deeper into a doze. Her hand came to rest against his hearts, the double rhythm soothing to her. She burrowed into him, tucking her face under his chin. One might think it would be boring to stare at the upholstery of the settee, but he didn’t really notice. All he could sense was her. The warmth and scent of her skin, the shampoo in her hair, the weight of her against him. Her breath against his jumper, seeping through the wool. The tendrils of their bond in his mind.
The TARDIS cocooned them in the nook and Rose was cozy in his arms and the Doctor closed his eyes, just for a minute. Just a quick kip.

Chapter 21 - Late
It was the music that woke her. She glanced at her clock and nearly groaned aloud. 3 AM, who was playing the radio at 3 AM? But then her brain caught up to itself and she realized that the only people who could possibly be in the flat that weren’t her were Rose and the Doctor. Still, it was the middle of the night and she had appointments tomorrow and…
She’d worked herself into full indignation by the time she hauled herself out of bed and into her dressing gown. She’d had every intention of storming out into the living room to tell those two off, but when she got her head out of her door, she saw something she’d never expected and it stopped her in her tracks.
They were dancing.

Chapter 19 - Simple
Some planets they went to were to help. Some were to shop for parts or groceries or other things. Some were simply to enjoy, no grand adventures, just downtime.
Relieta 4 was one such world. The locals were agrarian and proud of it. They lived close to their earth, celebrating the passage of seasons and fruitful harvests and just being alive in a universe that was often cold and indifferent. They had strong empathy, not quite telepathy yet, and they cared for their world as a parent cares for their children. Rose, of course, adored them immediately.
