does Trace still make and lose bets in the dreamscape or does veruska console command his luck with them to get better
hrmmmm honestly probably he is a TIIIIINY bit less impulsive. but just because his whole sense of self has been kinda shaken up, he's generally much less talkative overall and so absorbed in his work he doesn't deem bets really worth his time anymore. if he had to he probably Would take a bet but it's just so far off his radar when he's holed up in his tiny mobile home all the time the opportunity doesn't really present itself
ALTHOUGH. i would think the dream counterparts of his coworkers might help him with equations/hypotheticals taken wildly out of contexts. he's stubborn and obstinate enough to brute force learning all the stuff he learned on sudra himself but if he hits a wall and can't move anywhere in his research he'll call one of them up.
and then the usual positing of "whoever figures this out first owes the other dinner." "Bet." happens
but again. very rare. and he doesn't trust anyone else with the specific details of his research, its all kept VERY VERY VAGUE when certain problems crop up to begin with.

The NYC Subway has set an accessibility goal of ensuring that no station is more than two stops away from the nearest accessible station. Seems like a noble goal, but how much of an investment does that actually involve? Let’s take a look at the current gaps in the network.
The 1 train has an eleven-stop gap (Dyckman St to 96 St) and a nine-stop gap (Penn Station to Chambers St). 3 new accessible stations would be needed.
The 3 train has seven non-accessible stations beyond Utica Av; 1 new accessible station would be needed in addition to the planned upgrades at Junius St.
The 4 train has four non-accessible stations beyond Fordham Rd, but this gap will be filled by planned upgrades at Mosholu Pkwy.
The 6 train has an eleven-stop gap (Pelham Bay Park to Hunts Point Av) and a seven-stop gap (Hunts Point Av to 125 St); 2 new accessible stations would be needed.
The 7 train has a six-stop gap (Court Sq to Woodside); 1 new accessible station would be needed. (Upgrading Queensboro Plaza would also fill a gap on the N and W trains.)
The A train has a seven-stop gap (Euclid Av to Lefferts Blvd) that will be filled by planned upgrades at Rockaway Blvd.
The C train has an eight-stop gap (125 St to 59 St) and a seven-stop gap (Utica Av to Euclid Av); 2 new accessible stations would be needed.
The D train has a seven-stop gap (Kingsbridge Rd to Yankee Stadium) and a six-stop gap (Atlantic Av to 62 St); 2 new accessible stations would be needed. (Upgrading 36 St would also fill a gap on the R train.)
The F Train has a twelve-stop gap (Church Av to Coney Island); 1 new accessible station would be needed in addition to the planned upgrades at Kings Hwy.
The G train has an eighteen-stop gap between Jay St MetroTech and Church Av; 3 new accessible stations would be needed. (One of these would also fill a gap on the F train.)
The J train and Z train have a record-holding nineteen-station gap between Flushing Av and Sutphin Blvd. 3 new accessible stations would be needed.
The L train has an eight-station gap (Bedford Av to Myrtle—Wyckoff Avs); 1 new accessible station would be needed.
The M train and R train have two six-station gaps (on either side of Roosevelt Av); 2 new accessible stations would be needed, including the planned upgrades at Woodhaven Blvd.
The N train has a seven-station gap (New Utrecht Av to Coney Island) and an eight-station gap (Astoria Blvd to 57 St); 2 new accessible stations would be needed. (Upgrading Queensboro Plaza would also fill a gap on the 7 train.)
The Q train has a six-station gap (Prospect Park to Avenue H) and a seven-station gap (Kings Hwy to Coney Island) that will be filled respectively by planned upgrades at Church Av and Sheepshead Bay.
The R train has an eight-station gap (Atlantic Av to 59 St); 1 new accessible station would be needed. (Upgrading 36 St would also fill a gap on the D train.)
In total?
The stated goal could be met with 22 new accessible stations beyond what’s already planned. That’d bring the total number of accessible stations on the system from 143 (30% of the system) to 165 (35% of the system).
And that’s not particularly impressive. Ultimately, “no station will be more than two stops away from an accessible station” might sound like a lot but honestly isn’t all that much of an improvement on the status quo. The MTA needs to be held to a higher standard for accessibility.

I love how every corner of the city carries with it the memory of a moment that feels like a lifetime in and of itself. NE on First between The Postal Museum and Union Station is an old haunt that always creeps up unexpectedly. Euclid occupies a very specific part of my mind. Columbia Rd. for Heather. Glover Park; something like home. left my heart on wisconsin. the whole of Rhode Island Ave.... from Logan Circle all the way up into the state of Maryland is a like a timeline marking the million versions of me I had been back then.
Baby-me grew up on visits to the mall and Georgetown... with the occasional late night stop at McCormick's in downtown to pick up my dad's child support check for me.... Ventures that penetrated DC only an arms length from home. A thether I'd never cut even after having lost my innocence just a couple years later and a couple blocks away. umbilically tied to the idea that I couldn't survive in the city alone, even though I did, night after night (nevermind that I'd been surviving since age 4).
These memories sting just as much as they tingle. I hope I can go back. grieve what I was and what I never became and confront the potential that still persists.
I miss everyone and everything and no one and nothing.

I'm not a coffee drinker. Most coffee tastes horrible. (Starbucks is one of the worst.) But every now and then I'll try a small independent coffeehouse and find one that actually makes good hand-crafted coffee! (I usually get a mocha or an iced coffee.) Last year Michael and I discovered this local gem, Mestiza. And he has become fast friends with the owner. That's the owner, Maria who is making the coffee in this video. If anyone else makes it, the coffee doesn't taste as good. But if Maria does, it is manna from Heaven.

The Euclid-Seventy-First Street Building (the Arts Building and The Victory Building)
7002-7030 Euclid Ave.
Cleveland, OH
The Euclid-Seventy-First Street Building, also known as the Arts Building and The Victory Building, is prominently seated at 7002-7030 Euclid Avenue in Midtown Cleveland, Ohio.  It was constructed in 1919-1920.  Now vacant, the facility was most recently used for industrial storage. The building will be redeveloped into leasable tenant office space with first floor retail space. The nearly 150,000 square feet of office space is expected to house more than 200 employees upon completion.
The City of Cleveland was awarded for a $1 million grant that will be used, along with local matching funds, to make infrastructure and building improvements to the Euclid-71st Street Building (Victory Building) property. The city will prepare the site for technical center and research lab space. The project includes core and shell rehabilitation, demolition of an existing building, improvements to the electrical service, and completion of a roadway and water and sewer improvements. It was listed with the National Register of Historic Places on August 8, 1996.

Throne of Blood
By Ed Staskus    Little Italy was a fifteen-minute drive from the Central Station. Frank Gwozdz drove slightly under the speed limit and didn’t try to time the lights. It took them twenty minutes. He parked at the intersection of Euclid Ave. and Ford Dr. on the border of city life and Case Western Reserve University. Downtown was its own world. The school was its own world. Little Italy was up…

Easter. So strange not having an Easter gig.
I go to the desk and write for fifteen minutes or so. It's been quite a long time since I done something other than mere notetaking. I suffer, big time, from writer's block, which started for me four years ago.
It is the book about conductors, loaned to me by Roger, that got me going. We will see if this morning's effort was only a fluke.
I pull myself together and head out to Queens. Trouble with the trains. At Euclid Ave, towards the end of my trip, I have to change trains. A brandnew A train pulls in. Bright and shiny...and, no surprise, the announcements being made are impossible for the human ear to decipher.
I haven't seen the grandkids in a while but we pick up where we left off. Very nice time with Kenichi, Jean and the girls. Sit in the backyard...
The trip back into the city goes without incident. Home...and happy to be. My favorite drink. A bit of the news on TV and so to bed.
Overly complicated dreams (this has been going on since my semi-retirement). Inactivy, after a lifetime of being gainfully employed, comes with some difficulty. Dreams of being late for work, not being able to find my music...that sort of thing.

Pay some bills. Get in my steps.
Trump has been bailed out. Funny money, I suppose. Someone has come up with 175 mil.
Happy to have spent some time with the grandkids.
