you're not proud to admit that you still stalk your ex-boyfriend's friends on social media just to see a glimpse of him. it wasn’t that hard considering that you live in liverpool, if you wanted to see his face you just had to go outside and he will be there in any billboard. but there was something more personal about casually watching him on someone’s post. sometimes you just look up liverpool’s account to see him during matches or making fun challenges.
you consider blocking him, blocking his friends and everyone else remotely associated with him, you even did it for two full weeks, but it was impossible not to see him everywhere you look. sure, he was not showing up on your phone, but he was in the streets, he was on the tv playing a game, or acting in a random commercial; he was even in the supermarket next to a product he was the face of.

sometimes you wonder what would happen if your eyes met one more time. would you realize you got over him? would you fall back in love? would he even say hello?
“what can i get you?” the barista behind the counter asks you.
“hi, an iced vanilla latte, please.” you smile. the guy nods and charges you, moving quickly to the next client.

“i knew it was you the second i heard your voice.” he points at the register. “an iced vanilla latte as always.” he repeats your coffee order and only then you register the situation.
before you have a chance to say something, you hear your name being called throughout the whole coffee shop, announcing your order was ready.
“stay there.” he says before you have the chance to even stand up. “i’ll go get it.” you didn’t know what to say so you just nodded and he made his way to the front, claiming your coffee and getting it to you.
“thank you.” you say when he was finally in front of you again.
neither of you say anything for a few seconds. you didn’t feel uncomfortable at all, but it did feel odd to be there with him, not saying anything.
“nice jacket.” you mention, just to fill the silence.
“you like it?” he unconsciously touch it and smiles at you like he always did.
“mhm, it's pretty.” you take a sip from your coffee.
“i haven’t seen you in a while. how are you?” he asks.
you were about to answer when you got interrupted again by the barista calling his name to get his coffee. he quickly made his way to the front and back, sitting in your booth in no time.
“what is that?” you ask with a grimace, looking at his order. it was some sort of juice? you couldn’t really tell.
“it’s a pomegranate lemonade.” he shrugs. you arch a brow and he shakes his head smiling. “don’t look at me like that when you drink vanilla flavored coffee.”
a laugh escapes your lips and you just agree, still confused by his drink of choice but not making any more comments.
“how are you?” he repeats his question.

“oh?” this took you by surprise. “what happened?” you try to remember if maybe he lost any big game recently or if something happened to any friend of his, but you can’t remember anything of relevance.

“it’s too cold outside.” you say and he laughs, shaking his head as well.

Thank you for giving me a place vent without having to unblock certain folks...
Here's the question that keeps rattling around in my head when I let myself think about all this: What are the (wait what do we even call them? dont worry anon, these feelings are completely valid. In my opinion it's less of they think they're doing something good, and more insane jealousy. revstar cast but it’s how broken i think each would be in a fighting game (at launch)
Movie Junna (DLC) - extreme rushdown. solid mix. can cancel specials into each other. rekka loops for days. that Far Slash hitbox is getting nerfed next patch bro stop whining about how every top 8 has been for half a year.
Mahiru - mix and setplay monster with her baton twirl. surprisingly good frame data even if her normals are a bit stubby. but that doesnt matter once she carries you to the corner with her baseball super. proration doesn’t exist either when she keeps bonking you with that meaty overhead.
Claudine - pretty good buttons all around comparable to Karen and a DP that ranges from good to godslaying. has a unique taunt mechanic to power up her specials. does a step instead of a run which can be a hurdle in neutral for some.
Karen - beginner friendly all arounder with less diminishing return than expected at higher level play. but if you’ve seen one Karen you’ve seen them all, which will be a lot even once everyone learns to block her very linear mix.
Hikari - the slightly more unorthodox beginner character with some finicky combos and setplay off her dagger throw. damage is kinda crap outside of them. definitely on the lower end of hp but scary to pressure with the threat of her ground unblockable super.
Maya - charge character that also has a parry and command grab for some reason. kind of higher on the execution end for a return that isn’t all that much better than some other characters. do not whiff her flashkick.
Futaba - big slow buttons with easily the highest damage potential in the game. her step dash may as well not exist when it comes to actually getting in though. landing her strongest super unscaled does like 40-60%
Nana - very flashy and aggressive character that the devs were clearly afraid of making too strong. her flip and sidestep followups could be a lot better and she usually just gets grabbed out of them. her Annihilation install super is actually not terrible though. even overrides the BGM.
Junna - the specialized zoner with really awkward loops for kind-of-ok-at-best damage. made of glass bones and paper skin. using her hoop to escape pisses everyone off still. the go-to for bming and/or bullying new players.
Kaoruko - the alleged hybrid zoner with the worst frame data across the board on top of extended hurtboxes on everything. her only reversal is her super for good measure. people still lose their shit when someone takes out the pocket kaoruko in the bracket reset.

Pure of Heart proposal: Pizza from Chicory: A Colorful Tale

What's the work?
Chicory: a Colorful Tale is a videogame made in 2021 by Wishes Unlimited, who has earlier created Wandersong and is currently developing Beastiball. It's an adventure game in which you play as a dog wielding a brush to recolor the world, complete with one banger of a story. There will be spoilers to the whole game under the cut btw. You should play this game, it's pretty damn good :)
Who is Pizza? What do they do?
Pizza is the Player Character. You can technically choose their name, but their first default is Pizza and they're referred to as such in promotional material.
They start off being Chicory's janitor, genuinely dedicated to making her spaces clean. They're in the middle of cleaning her closet when all the color is suddenly wiped from all of picnic for unknown reasons. Their immediate response is to call for Chicory, who was holed up in her room at the time, with the Brush, a powerful artifact that makes their artists' feelings reality, out in the open. Unable to get to Chicory, they decide it wouldn't hurt to take matters into their own paws and take the brush themself.
Eventually, they head to Supper Woods where they encounter Blackberry, an old deer who was Chicory's mentor, for the first time. She tells them they're in over their head right before she's snatched by a dark force known only as Corruption, causing Pizza to fight a thing to save her life.
Once Blackberry's safety is ensured, she orders Pizza to bring the Brush back to Chicory. They try to comply, but Chicory rejects the Brush and says they can keep it. Suddenly, Pizza's the wielder. They have major doubts about being the Wielder, especially in a potential crisis, but they choose to try their best to fit the role by unblocking a passage that keeps a couple hikers trapped in Appie Foothills and taking out another "probably ancient" evil spawned by the Corruption.
Things get interesting at around Chapter 3, in which Pizza, after taking steps to genuinely bond with Chicory, goes to Gulp Swamp to take out another source of the corruption. They show immediate disapproval to Blackberry when she claims that the mess they're in is Chicory's fault, before going on to fight the corruption again. This time, however, is different: they see Chicory- rather, some twisted apparition of her, insulting and berating Pizza before trying to kill them.
Still, though, they (try to) handle the situation with care, knowing she wasn't the "real" Chicory. When confronting Chicory, she admits that she's the source of the corruption, sparking a small fight between the two, ending up with Pizza saying they "can't believe [they] looked up to [her]". Realizing their wrongdoing, they immediately tried to apologize only to be shut out by Chicory.
Afterwards, they go to the underground to deal with a funny wielder problem: more corruption! They... handle it. they see an apparition of themself who tries to kill them. standard video game things.
Before just let them be a pretty good hero, but what happens next makes me really consider them for this imo- When called back to the Wielder Tower because of some Really Fun Things going down, they rush to the site, knowing Chicory is in grave danger. They eventually find her deep in the Tower's darkness, begging Pizza to escape with their life and forget about her as the corruption uses her to try to have Pizza killed. Pizza, however, displayed an immense amount of courage and resilience and, while knowingly risking their life, reached out to chicory and convinced her to just calm down and think things through. And it worked. Pizza basically saved her life at this moment.
After things properly calm down, Chicory introduces the 5 trials to Pizza at this point- of which they've done one already, so there are four instead. To be honest, not much happens during this second half that's relevant to this proposal except what happens in the Brunch Canyon trial- Pizza finds out about Chicory's strained relationship with Blackberry and sympathizes with her. Once they (indirectly) find out that Blackberry's remorseful for harming Chicory, Pizza suggests she talk to her about it. Chicory's against the notion, and Pizza understands in full.
Once all the trials are completed, Pizza became a fully realized wielder of the Brush and felt ready to face the heart of the Corruption at the top of the tower. They were not, in fact, ready. The Brush pried itself from Pizza, leaving them unconscious and the region on the brink of an apocalypse. They wake up in their parents' home and immediately (though slowly) walk back to Luncheon to help out in any way they can. They're looking for the brush, and eventually they meet up with Chicory, where they lament their feeling of the lost brush, before...
Yeah, they make a new tree with a new brush to confront the corruption one last time. Soon, they get put in a vulnerable situation just in time for Chicory to save their life with her own brush, having been inspired by Pizza. Together, they essentially fight the Brush, at its most powerful, to save the whole of Picnic and win, causing color to rain from the source of the corruption as it fizzles out in one fell swoop.
Afterwards, Pizza and Chicory take the time to recollect themselves and figure out what to do next. Chicory realizes that it's likely that anyone can create their own brush, and they decide to try and facilitate that creation to end the wielder system entirely. They need a good vacation first, though. They take a vacation first.
Admirable standard
Pizza personally saved Chicory's life, removed the Corruption as a threat entirely, and did a ton of kind little things along the way. They are easilythe most admirable character in the game.
Mitigating Factors
Pizza begins the game idolizing Chicory, but this fades away when their relationship grows and matures over the course of the game. Other than that, Pizza lacks corrupting qualities.

how does zato feel to play across all the GG titles? like what are the differences you think between strive/xrd/xx in his gameplan?
sorry this ask is like a month old now but i kept pushing it off cus i dont play enough strive to have the most solid grasp. and for the record im not like amazing at fighting games this could all be against how hes actually meant to played but in my experience its sooomething like this. long post. i love thinking about this stuff.
+r specifically is my absolute favorite rendition of the character. i think venom overall is still my favorite character in all of fighting games but plussy eddie comes real fucking close.
xrd and +r eddie/zato feel really similar, how specifically they want to run their gambit is slightly different (+r eddie has a lot more mix potential with numerous unblockables and really fun combos that can last for ages if youre dexterous enough while xrd zato wants to focus more on the bnb, keeping the corner on lock, and working around how kinda weird they made little eddies moves). it helps vice summon in +r is basically exactly summon in xrd, so having the overlap of specific things you can do is really helpful for looping them together. i also really like the unique things each one has! great white isnt GOOD persay but its one of xrds most fun moves. and puddle is just. man . i love puddle. <- average eddie player sentence. find an eddie player who isnt hopelessly obsessed with puddle. you cant.
strive zato is the blacksheep and its taken me a while to figure out why i feel so differently about him than xrd. they feel pretty similar (only one set of summon moves, same kinda corner pressure you want to be running, etc etc etc) but i think specifically because of how different little eddies moves feel it mixes up the entire character. zato also looses a lot of his air movement and tools which kinda brings him down to playing mostly a grounded game with only a few times where you actually want to be in the air, theres no good way to hit UP with his jumping buttons like you could before which is like... strange? when +r and xrd eddie rely a lot on stalling in the air and using his INSANELY good air moves to your advantage. (i miss shadow gallery and nobiru too much in these situations)
i dunno how much of it is just strive being a less complex game (not a bad thing! i just play zato one!) that strive zato feels a lot more gorilla to me. in the brainlessly hitting buttons and clapping along when the opponent cant do shit way. there was a lot more dancing around in the other games while strive zato can very easily just push you into the corner with a single well timed oppose. while feeling less fleshed out and like you have less options, he definitely feels WAY more powerful and like. totally fine on his own in a way +r and xrd would crumble in a second without eddie summoned in the same situations. none of this is bad its just different. zato is hands down the most fun character in strive to me.
also not to say hes like. brainless! i think the fun of strive zato is playing the "how can i keep you in the corner game." trying to predict exactly how the other person is going to try and escape my pressure and reacting just in time to catch them and force them back into the eddie+invite+c.S pressure is just TOO fun. like literally THE MOST fun. while +r has the insane corner gambits you can run with damned fang and chaining eddie ]p[ and drunkard and puddle and the weird shadow gallery loops and doing insane unblockables, wall slump and carefully avoiding resetting to neutral is another kind of insane high. i really love it.
i think they did a really good job with strive zato also in making little eddie feel like he genuinely compliments zatos movement incredibly well with how he does move. in the old games having nobiru and mawaru just means you can dominate the entire screen with very little effort, throw in fly/the fly k cancel in +r/the different invite summon in xrd/etc and you can force the other person into some real fucked situations that feels insanely good. strive zato doesnt have the SAME movement, but damn if 6H and a well timed Oppose not have the exact same absolutely evil joy of a big eddie drill -> jump p unblockable in xrd. you know?
anyways. same character, same general feel for the most part, i think the just more close quarters and fast gameplay of strive compared to the other games makes a unique experience i enjoy just as much as the more slow methodical fucked up shit of the old games. big fun.
all of this to ignore forever zoner zato from TML. that shits evil. even if he does have a DP in that game . even if its... punishable......... on hit.......
