Me trying to explain the main characters in Chains of Heart

What the actual hell ???? This is worse than the death of a character. He is searched by the police for murder and no one saw him ever again. They really destroyed every ounce of this drama that was salvageable. He changed his whole face for his family and Ken and then disappear forever and the only reunion he had with the supposed love of his life is a one night stand ???? That drama is one of the worse thing that I ever saw in my life.

Okay so... Lue is Din, Sai and Payu knew and now everyone is going to find out and they have to figure out what comes next with all of their personal lives.

(I mean, frankly, Ken deserves to punch him again. And Hin definitely deserves to punch Payu. I feel bad for Sai but she also kind of deserves something though it makes even more sense why she wanted Ken to move on Lue so strongly...)

I can't wait to see whatever batshit explanation there is going to be for all of this.

My prediction? Din survived but had serious memory loss (at first) and felt like a different person not just because of his face and had to get revenge and, possibly, was told at first that Ken was dead.

But this is definitely giving my Reichenbach Falls vibes, the idea that he was trying to get revenge and make everything safe for him and Ken to exist again only to have to give up ever coming back at himself (unlikely Sherlock) and instead coming back as Lue in the hopes of winning his love again.

Too bad he underestimated Ken's loyalty to himself.

I suspect next episode is going to be just a lot of Lue's POV in the past (or Din's? Damn, what name to use...)

Chains of Heart ep 5

Hold on...I'm reeling a bit from the Our Skyy 2 trailer...

Okay *slaps myself out of my trance* let's do this.

As I mentioned at the end of my ep 4 post, when Hin, Payu, and Boon turn up to take Ken away from Lue, they're all wearing a combination of Ken and Din/Lue's colours. Boon is neutral like Din/Lue is sometimes, Hin has Ken and Din's colours in his shirt, and Payu has blue and red (and maybe even green) stripes in his. This could be indicating their varying levels of knowledge/support about who Lue really is (although Payu is hiding his really well).

At the temple, again Ingpha and Ae confuse me - Ingpha is wearing the same outfit that he wore when paying his *ahem* respects to Din's parents when Din's body was apparently found (photo added on the right below as a reminder) and Ae also has a similar dark blue. This time he's meeting Lue for the first time...who is actually Din...so maybe it's something to do with putting on a front - a show of solidarity to Lue even though we know Ingpha is the 'enemy'.

At Din's parents' place afterwards, they're also complementing in Ken and Din's colours...with a hint of Lue in the flowers and fence to the left...but we know that Din's family are supportive of Ken, don't we?

In Din's bedroom, the purple lighting returns as Ken cries again over the loss of his love and whilst Din's mum tries to encourage Ken to move on and meet someone new. However, in the next breath, she pretty much implies that Din might still be alive because who else could have left that flower there on the day of the funeral...? (Also, I have to laugh at how obvious Lue was standing behind that curtain. I can't believe she didn't notice! But also also...Lue is hiding behind his new colour in his old bedroom.)

I'll come back to the flower in a moment...but I loved how we return to the green and red when Ken goes back to the hotel that he and Din had stayed in but this time looking for Lue.

And so to the flower, and it's fitting that it looks almost purple both in the present and in the past, although in Ken's hotel room it's more red. Din says it's an Iris but from my google searching I think it's actually an Anthurium. The red Anthurium still symbolises love, passion, and affection though, so Din's not wrong there, and the purple is for royalty and passion. How incheresting, though, that Ken wears a green shirt both times he's presented with the flower - the first when Din expresses his eternal love and the second when Din's mum encourages him to move on from Din...and then there's the divide, the distance between Ken and the flower in the hotel room - Din is so far away from him...or is he?...since the flower is also in Lue's red...

Ken goes out for some air...and we know something's about to go down connected to Din because of the dramatic green lighting -> Lue shows up to beat Ken into retreating back to Taiwan, and then returns x minutes later (having changed from the black clothes into beige) to comfort and confess to Ken.

The next day, Boon, Dr Chayeol, and Lue are all complementing in shades of Ken's blue...but also Sai's neutral/beige outfit and green handbag indicates she knows about Lue's real identity, hence why she's encouraging Ken to open up to Lue.

And then we're back to the dramatic greens and reds (with some purple lights), when Nok turns up to fight Ken, with Lue getting involved, and then the final reveal that Lue has Din's necklace.

I think my interpretations are still holding up, although I feel like I'm generalising quite a bit. In any case, there are definitely patterns to how the colours and lighting are being used, even if it is for dramatic cinematography.

It's the Red Wedding of the NBA Style Wars. Tonight, before Game 3 of their playoff series with the Pacers, the Cleveland Cavaliers turned up wearing Thom Browne—all Thom Browne. It wasn't just a few of the team's star players or fashion plates wearing the designer's easy-to-spot shrunken silhouette, it was all 15 team members, including head coach Tyronn Lue. If Russell Westbrook in a shredded sweatshirt or Chris Paul's sideline suits made waves in the world of style, this was a tsunami.

From LeBron James to J.R. Smith to Jordan Clarkson, each entered Indianapolis' Bankers Life Fieldhouse wearing made-to-measure Thom Brown gray Super 120s twill suits, with a white oxford shirt, a tie, cashmere cardigan with 4-bar band detail, and black pebble grain boots or sneakers, with some carrying T.B. duffels and bags (and in LeBron James's case, one epic alligator Mr. Thom bag that rings in at a cool $41K). The fits were unmistakably Thom Browne, the kind that Browne's team—and the designer himself, who is a king of uniform dressing—wear on the daily. While it may not be daily, James & Co. will be wearing their looks again; the team plans to get back into the suited looks for every on-the-road game during the remainder of the playoffs.

Chains of Confusion Ep. 5

@slayerkitty, another episode of Chains of Heart, another day NO ONE ASKS ABOUT THE DAMN GLOVES?!

Lue squeezed the mayor's hand so tightly, yet nobody mentioned one thing about the gloves?! Out of everything in this show, this is the most unbelievable to me.

Much like how unbelievable that Ken was strangled AGAIN! If you are keeping track of how many times Ken gets choked/strangled, the show is consistent with making it each episode.

Please don't tell me Lue is crazy enough to beat Ken up, then show up later like HE DIDN'T JUST BEAT HIM UP!

Odd choice, so I hope it was Nok who attacked Ken, but then why not just kill Ken? But it's even stranger that Lue carries a change of clothes with him, so he can fight crime no matter the time.

Nok threatens Ken to go back to Taiwan. Lue threatens Ken to go back to Taiwan. So why not team up and get Ken back to Taiwan, together? Oh, that's right. KEN WAS ATTACKED IN TAIWAN TOO. Payu of all people brought up that little nugget this episode.

Which reminds me that I actually trusted Payu this episode, and as usual, Hin gave me life with his quick quips like telling Ken to stop staring into Lue's eyes and his dinner conversation.

But back to the fight - Why did the band keep playing like it was the damn Titanic?! Food was being tossed around as well as human bodies, and the band was like "gotta earn that paycheck!"

And why is Nok quick to kill everyone else, but not these two?! Why couldn't Ken and Lue take him out?

Lue has to be Din. HE HAS TO BE! He confessed that he LOVES Ken, and he has the necklace.

The monk had to have clocked him. That is the look of an old man who is over this bullshit.

And Lue has all those scars.

But what does that tattoo mean? And why hide that he is Din from Ken?

If Lue is Din, who is leaving flowers for his mom, why doesn't he react to seeing his family? His family thinks he is dead, and they believe Lue is a bad guy, so why does Lue show no emotion around them? Or is that why he is befriending old friends?

@pharawee mentioned that Lue saying he was staying in room 707 was a nod to Din and Ken promising to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month for the festival of the two torn-apart lovers (which reminds of of something from Midnight Museum), so like...

Din, is that you player?

You know what Lue? I don't care if you are Din. You definitely deserved to be punched for saying that to Ken. Like, seriously. If you're trying to win him over in your new form this was exactly the wrong way to do it. Yes, he's putting himself directly in danger and being an idiot and breaking his own already hurting heart but you telling him that the love of his life is dead is not gonna stop him.

Okay, did this episode just destroyed everything we thought was confirmed and made the nonsensical plot even more nonsensical. I thought there wasn’t any corpse found which is the reason why Ken thought Din was alive and now we are being told that Din used the body of the real Peter lue to fake his death. Also the reason why he was wearing gloves is not because it would leave his DNA and confirm that Din is still alive but actually he got fingerprints transplant (which I don’t even know if it’s possible in real life). My goodness, how bad is this script ?

More random thoughts on a rewatch of Chains of Heart eps 4, 5, & 6

More confusion with Nok - he just happens to be where Fin/Gun appears from the forest having run away from trying to kill Ken, he gets upset that Fin uses impolite language with him and 'play strangles him' and seems to unintentionally kill him...but then when Lue asks why he killed Fin, Nok says that Fin botched a job. So what part of all this is true? Is Nok as genuinely mentally unstable as he seems or is it all an act? (because he seemed very lucid on the phone to Ingpha...)

It was in ep 4's flashback that I started to wonder whether Din's work was coming between him and Ken...and I think it sets up a conflict for the future when Ken discovers that Lue is Din and that Din/Lue chose to work to uncover the shady dealings (thus hiding his identity, disappearing for two years) rather than recover and be with Ken... That choice has got to hurt.

And Ingpha just has an envelope of cash to hand in case he ever needs to bribe someone 😂

I wonder if Ken and Din would have survived had Ken not run out into the forest to look for Din. It might all be his fault for getting caught by Nok, I wonder if that plays on his mind or on Din's mind.

Lue is being SO OBVIOUS in ep 4 with all the hints that he's Din...and he's a little too overbearing with Ken. It's too much too soon, no wonder Ken gets frustrated at Lue's advances.

In ep 5, when Payu, Hin, and Boon arrive at the temple they see Lue talking to Ingpha. Now, presumably Payu knows that Lue is Din...so what was his reaction for? He looked angry that Lue was shaking hands, seemingly amiably with Ingpha, was that just an act to throw off Hin and Boon? Afterwards, he seemed to imply that Lue can't be trusted, that maybe he's working with Ingpha...but Payu would know he's not. Or?

In that following conversation Ken says Lue saved his life but then Boon asks "Is this about the black truck and the matter with Fin that I told you? Don't forget, only Fin saw it." -> what the hell was it that Boon told Ken about Fin? What did Fin see? None of this makes sense.

And again, later, Sai and Payu/Hin argue about whether Lue is good (as Sai thinks) or bad (as Payu seems to think and Hin definitely thinks) -> is this more deflection on Payu's part?

Din/Lue really did just beat up Ken, telling him to go back to Taiwan, and then changed out of his black clothes into his beige outfit only to return to Ken x minutes later to take care of him.

I now don't think Nok did shoot Lue. It's been shown that Nok is actually a pretty poor shooter, he rarely hits the person he's aiming for (apart from his two underlings whom he shot with the machine gun), so I think Lue faked being hit. But then he really did go to change out of his suit into the black clothes (in his car maybe?) to re-enter the fight with Nok and then Ken. I know later Ae mentions to Lue about him getting shot, but I still don't think he could have fought the way he did and recover as fast if he had gotten shot.

It's interesting that at the beginning of ep 6, in Lue's fantasy about Ken kissing his scars, Ken doesn't have the tattoo on his back or arm. I wonder why.

Also, am I really to believe that Payu is the chancellor of the university whilst Hin is a lecturer? They're babies! They can't be more than mid-twenties surely! Honestly, though, can you imagine seeing the chancellor of your university dragging one of your teachers out through the main entrance?!

If Payu does know that Lue is Din and that Dr Chayeol changes Din's face then why does he ask about it in front of the Dr and others? Surely he'd want to keep it secret. I'm starting to think Payu doesn't know...but maybe this is an act to try to throw people off. I know Hin will feel betrayed by him in ep 9, which we assume is because Payu knows about Din/Lue, but maybe it's something else...

Nok really is incompetent because he could have shot Ken at the outdoor restaurant but didn't. No wonder Ingpha is annoyed and also it's no wonder that Ingpha was the one to shoot Din off the cliff. Really, Ingpha just needs to do the job himself.

And whyyyyyy did Lue not just stab Ingpha when he had the chance. 🤷🏽‍♀️

It's the Red Wedding of the NBA Style Wars. Tonight, before Game 3 of their playoff series with the Pacers, the Cleveland Cavaliers turned up wearing Thom Browne—all Thom Browne. It wasn't just a few of the team's star players or fashion plates wearing the designer's easy-to-spot shrunken silhouette, it was all 15 team members, including head coach Tyronn Lue. If Russell Westbrook in a shredded sweatshirt or Chris Paul's sideline suits made waves in the world of style, this was a tsunami.

From LeBron James to J.R. Smith to Jordan Clarkson, each entered Indianapolis' Bankers Life Fieldhouse wearing made-to-measure Thom Brown gray Super 120s twill suits, with a white oxford shirt, a tie, cashmere cardigan with 4-bar band detail, and black pebble grain boots or sneakers, with some carrying T.B. duffels and bags (and in LeBron James's case, one epic alligator Mr. Thom bag that rings in at a cool $41K). The fits were unmistakably Thom Browne, the kind that Browne's team—and the designer himself, who is a king of uniform dressing—wear on the daily. LOS ANGELES - Members of a Latino street gang have admitted to carrying out a racially motivated firebombing attack on black families in a Los Angeles housing project, prosecutors announced Thursday. Three men belonging to the Big Hazard gang will plead guilty to federal hate crimes stemming from the 2014 attack, according to written plea agreements. In exchange for the confessions, prosecutors for U.S. Attorney Nicola T. Hanna agreed to seek some leniency for the men when they are sentenced. Each faces more than 30 years in federal prison. The nighttime attack on Mother's Day four years ago laid bare long-standing racial animosity Latino gangs have stoked in the Ramona Gardens Housing Development and elsewhere. The Big Hazard gang claimed the housing project in the Boyle Heights neighborhood as its territory and the men set out to terrorize black families into fleeing their apartments, according to a statement released by Hanna. Jose Saucedo, 24; Edwin Felix, 26; and Jonathan Portillo, 23, were part of a group of eight gang members who carried out the well-planned attack. Three other members of the gang previously pleaded guilty to participating in the bombing. As part of the plea deals announced this week, prosecutors will not require the three men to testify against the alleged ringleader of the group and an eighth man, who have maintained their innocence and face a trial this summer.
