Tumblr media
Core Five, a stupid but fitting nickname Chad had given your group of friends. Well, it's less fitting now as Sam wasn't present for the group's France getaway. Sam wanted to stay back in New York, as she finally had free time with Danny, her obvious boyfriend, whom she had been dating for the past few months.
Core Four, more fitting and still slightly stupid, who had just arrived at a ski resort in Chamonix, France, were excited to enjoy their much-needed vacation.
"I don't understand why we're wasting a night here. We don't even know how to ski!" Tara complained, watching as you and Chad unloaded the luggage from the car. You chuckle while Mindy wraps an arm around Tara's shoulders, "We'll see your Eiffel Tower later in the week, plus Y/N knows how to ski."
Tara pouted, crossing her arms. You close the trunk of the car with a satisfied thud and turn to face Tara. "Not just me. Chad said he knows as well." Tara narrows her eyes at you, "How on earth does Chad know how to ski? He's lived in California half of his life!"
Chad smiles. "I watched a few TikToks to learn." Tara raises an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "TikTok? Are you sure that's even a reliable source for learning how to ski?" Chad shrugs playfully. "Well, it's worth a shot, right? Plus, I've always been a quick learner."
Tara looks back at you, her skepticism still evident. You just shrug before saying, "I have faith in Chad."
Chad grins at you. "Thank you. It's about time I received moral respect from my fellow core members." Mindy lets go of Tara, groaning at her brother. "Shut up, Dingus."
You laugh at the playful banter between Chad and Mindy and start making your way to the ski resort. Tara quickly catches up to you, and the two of you walk side by side in comfortable silence.
"If we don't get them together by the end of this trip, I don't know what will," Mindy whispers to her brother, who immediately nods, eager to play matchmaker. They exchange silly grins, ready to take on the challenge of bringing you and Tara closer together.
"Wait, what? You only want me to strap in one foot?" Mindy asks you, confusion evident on her face. You nod, "Yeah, just until we get off the lift." Mindy raises an eyebrow but obliges, strapping only one foot into the snowboard binding.
"Time to get on the lift!" Chad shouts, trying his best to run, but it's kind of hard with his foot attached to his snowboard. Tara giggles at Chad, finding his struggle amusing. She looks over at Mindy and you, who calls out after Chad.
"Hey, Chad! Maybe you should slow down before you—" before you can finish your sentence, Chad falls face-first into the snow, causing a small cloud of powder to billow up around him. Mindy and Tara burst into laughter, while you wobble over to your friend with a huge smile on your face.
Chad rolls over on his back, "Let's just... get on the lift...please." You extend a helping hand to Chad, trying to suppress your laughter. "Sure, man, whatever you say," you smile, trying to hide your amusement. Chad gratefully accepts your assistance, and together you all make your way towards the lift.
"Wanna ride with me, Chad?" you ask, still chuckling. Chad glances at Mindy, who shakes her head, indicating that she wants Tara to ride with you instead. "Uhh, maybe Tara should ride with you instead," Chad suggests, giving you a sheepish smile.
You nod in agreement, realizing that it might be better for Tara to ride with you since you actually do know what you're doing. Tara joins you in the lift, looking a bit nervous but also excited for the ride. As the lift starts moving, you put out a hand for her.
Tara hesitates for a moment before taking your hand. "I got you, T. Don't look so worried." You reassure Tara with a comforting smile, reminding her that you've been snowboarding multiple times before. Tara's grip on your hand tightens slightly while the lift continues to ascend.
She admits, "I've always wanted to try snowboarding, but I'm a little scared of falling, plus I lived in California." You smile, squeezing her hand through your glove.
"Don't worry, Tara. I'll be right there with you every step of the way. And falling is just a part of learning, it happens to everyone." You encourage her, hoping to ease her fears and make her feel more confident about trying something new.
You and Tara get off the lift in sync, and she instantly grabs onto your arm for support. You breathe out a laugh, guiding her towards the beginner slope. "Here, put your foot here so I can fasten your binding. I'll make sure it's nice and secure so you feel stable on the slope."
Tara nods, her hands resting on your shoulders as you kneel down to adjust her binding. "Thanks for being so patient with me," she says, a hint of nervousness in her voice.
You smile reassuringly at Tara and reply, "Of course! Anything for you." You stand up and give Tara a gentle squeeze on the shoulder. You notice the redness on her cheeks, taking it as a sign of the cold weather. But in reality, it was due to the fact that she was blushing at your words.
"Do you want me to adjust your goggles too? Just to make sure your face protected from the wind and snow," you suggest, reaching for her goggles. Tara nods gratefully, allowing you to adjust them snugly around her head. "There you go, all set for a great day on the slopes!"
Tara smiles and thanks you for your help. You smile back, helping her to the beginner's slope. "Oh my god, is that Chad?" Tara exclaims, pointing towards a familiar face in the distance.
"Wait, what the fuck? Why is he actually good at snowboarding?" You squint your eyes to get a better look and notice Chad effortlessly gliding down the slope with impressive skill. "Looks like those TikTok's worked," you remark, surprised by his sudden talent.
"Okay! Your turn. If Chad can do it, you can do it." You encourage Tara, giving her a reassuring pat on the back. "Just remember to stay relaxed, and I'll hold your hand the entire time," you add, confident that she can conquer the beginner's slope like Chad did.
You hold out both of your hands, ready to guide Tara down the slope and provide her with the support she needs. She takes a deep breath and grasps your hands tightly, her snowboard beginning to move down the slope.
"Bend your knees a bit, T!" you shout over the sound of the wind, reminding Tara of the proper snowboarding stance. "Keep your weight centered and let the board glide smoothly. You've got this!"
She follows your instructions, gradually gaining confidence as she glides down the slope. With each turn, she becomes more comfortable and starts to enjoy the adrenaline-rushing experience of snowboarding.
As she gains speed, Tara's smile widens, her excitement evident in her eyes. The rush of the wind against her face and the grasp of your hands against hers make her heart race and her face flush as she sees the happy smile on your face.
You both reach the bottom of the slope, and Tara brings you into a tight embrace. She pulls away, smiling like an idiot. "Oh my god! I did it!" You nod at the shorter girl, pulling up your goggles.
"You did amazing, Tara! See! It wasn't so bad." Tara's cheeks turn a shade of pink as she takes a moment to catch her breath. "I can't believe I—" Tara's words are cut off by Mindy, who waddles to you, breathless and excited. "Guys, that was incredible! I saw the whole thing from the top of the slope!"
Tara's eyes widen in surprise as she looks at Mindy. "You were watching us?" Mindy nods enthusiastically, "Yes! You looked like a power couple out there. Hashtag go Y/ara!"
Tara blushes even deeper at Mindy's comment, and you furrow your eyebrows, confused. "What is Y/ara?" Mindy grins mischievously. "Your ship name, obviously! Keep up with the times, dude."
You chuckle, realizing what Mindy is referring to. "Ah, I see. Y/ara, huh? That's actually kind of catchy." You turn to Tara and give her a playful nudge. "Looks like we have our own ship now, Tara." Tara giggles and playfully rolls her eyes at your comment.
The three of you go back up the slope, meeting up with Chad, who was impatiently waiting for your return. Chad raises an eyebrow at the sight of the three of you. "What took you guys so long?" he asks, a slight smile on his face.
"We were just discussing our new ship name, Y/ara," you explain, grinning. Chad raises his eyebrow and says, "Oh, but Core Five is a bad name." Mindy nods, "It really is. Y/ara is just superior."
Chad chuckles and shakes his head. "I don't know about that, but as long as you all like it, I guess it works," he says, joining in on the playful banter. You turn your head to see a girl struggling to strap her feet onto the board.
"Hey, need a hand?" you offer, walking over to help her. She looks up at you with gratitude and nods, "Thanks, I'm still getting the hang of this." You smile reassuringly and say, "No problem, we all started somewhere."
The girl gives a small smile and says, "Yeah, I guess you're right. It's just a bit intimidating at first." You nod in understanding and reply, "Yeah, but with practice, you'll be gliding down like a pro in no time."
You finish her left foot, moving onto her right. She smiles at you, "I'm Ariana, by the way." You return her smile and introduce yourself. "Nice to meet you, Ariana. I'm Y/N."
Ariana blushes slightly and says, "Thank you, Y/N. I really appreciate your help." You help her to her feet, holding her arms to keep her from falling. "No problem, Ariana. I'm happy to help," you reassure her. As she gains her balance, you let go of her arms and say, "Just remember to take it slow and steady, and maybe you'll be as good as me." you joke, sending the girl a wink.
Ariana giggles and playfully rolls her eyes. "We'll see about that, Y/N. But I'll definitely give it my best shot." She adjusts her posture and takes a deep breath, ready to take on the slope.
You watch as Ariana pushes off and starts skiing down the slope, gracefully maneuvering her way through the twists and turns. Still, getting the hang of this? She was amazing.
"Hey, Doofus! Gonna snap out of your trance already?" Mindy calls out, breaking your concentration.  You blush and quickly turn your attention back to Mindy, trying to hide your embarrassment. "Sorry guys," you mumble, picking up your snowboard from beside Tara, who has her arms crossed and her jaw tightly clenched.
"Hurry, or we'll leave you behind," Tara warns, her tone laced with impatience. You frown slightly, "Sorry. Are we riding the slope again?"
"Tara wanted to go to our room. She said she's tired and wants to take a break from snowboarding for a while. But I'm up for another run if you are." Chad answers, glancing at Tara. "I don't mind taking a break too," you say, trying to diffuse the tension.
You glance at Tara, who doesn't even look your way, before walking in the direction of the lodge. Her jaw is clenched, and her shoulders are tense, indicating her frustration. You exchange a concerned look with Chad, unsure of what has caused Tara's sudden change in mood.
"What'd I do?" you ask Chad, genuinely confused. Chad just sighs, shaking his head as Mindy does the same.
You arrive in your shared room with Tara a few moments later than her, noticing that she has already closed the door behind her. Using your key to unlock the door, your ears pick up on the noise coming from the shower.
You take off your jackets, hang them on the hooks by the door, and sit on the edge of the bed, contemplating whether to address Tara's change in mood or give her some space. You quietly grab your phone and start scrolling through social media, hoping that a little distraction will help pass the time until Tara is ready to talk.
Ten minutes later, Tara walks out with just a towel wrapped around her, her wet hair dripping onto her shoulders. She avoids making eye contact and heads straight to her suitcase to grab some clothes.
Your heart skips a beat. Did she not care that she was basically naked in front of you? You quickly avert your gaze, going back onto your phone to give her some privacy. However, the image of Tara in just a towel lingers in your mind, leaving you feeling both flustered and intrigued.
Quinn messages you, sending you a stupid photo of a funny-looking dog wearing sunglasses.
You let out a sniffle, and Tara mistakes this for a sign of sadness. She turns to you with worry in her eyes, now dressed and throwing her towel on the floor. "Are you okay?"
You raise your head from your phone, smiling. "Oh, yeah. Quinn just texted me." Tara gives you a puzzled look, clearly not understanding why Quinn would even text you knowing you were on vacation. She brushes it off and asks, "What did Quinn send you?"
"Just a stupid photo." You chuckle, putting down your phone. Tara hums in response, making her way towards her own bed. You stand up from yours, standing behind Tara. "Are you okay?"
You ask, concerned about how she acted earlier. Tara turns to face you, a faint smile on her face. "Yeah, I'm fine," she replies softly. "Just a little tired from the long day."
Tara sits down on her bed, staring up at you. "Are you sure that's all?" you ask gently, sensing that there might be something more bothering her. Tara nods, and you narrow your eyes at her, "Mmm...okay."
You decide to trust Tara's response for now, but you can't shake off the feeling that there might be something she's not telling you. Hoping that she will open up when she's ready, you give her a reassuring smile before going to the bathroom to shower yourself.
When you return to the room, you jump on top of Tara, putting your deadweight on her and playfully pinning her down. Tara giggles and squirms under your weight. "Y/N!"
You straddle her, pinning her arms above her head. As you hold her in place, you playfully tease, "Come on, Tara, spill the beans. Is there something you're hiding from me?" Tara's laughter fills the room as she tries to wriggle free from your playful hold.
"I'm not hiding anything." Tara insists, her laughter subsiding as she looks up at you with a mischievous glint in her eyes. You lean down, blowing raspberries on her neck, causing her to erupt in a fit of giggles once again. "Oh, really?" you tease, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes! Really!" Tara protests, managing to break free from your hold and playfully pushing you away. You both collapse onto the end of the bed, catching your breath and still laughing. "Okay, okay," you say, holding up your hands in surrender. "I believe you... for now."
Tara smiles, watching you crawl back towards her. "You know there's another bed, right?" You chuckle, brushing off her comment. "Why would we waste another perfectly good bed when we're having so much fun right here?" you reply playfully, winking at her. Tara's smile widens as she pulls you closer, clearly agreeing with your sentiment.
-
"What are you ordering?" Tara asks you, looking over the menu. "I'm not sure yet," you respond, scanning the options. "But I might get some crepes."
"You look good today," Chad says to you, admiring your outfit. "Thanks," you reply with a grateful smile. Mindy joins in, "Right! You look like you belong in Paris. Don't you think Tara?"
Tara blushes slightly, taking a sip of her drink to hide it. "I think you've both boosted Y/N's ego enough," she says with a playful tone. You laugh, placing a hand on Tara's thigh to reassure her. "Oh, come on, Tara. It's just a little compliment," you say teasingly. Tara playfully swats your hand away, but her smile tells you she appreciates the gesture.
"Êtes-vous prêts à commander?" The waiter interrupts, asking if you are ready to order. You quickly glance at your friends. "Are you guys ready to order?" you ask, hoping they have made up their minds.
Everyone nods, and you proceed to place the orders for the table. The waiter closes her notepad, smiling at you. "Êtes-vous d'ici? Je ne crois pas vous avoir déjà vu."
You laugh, "Euhhh, non." She tilts her head, edging for you to explain further. "Nous ne faisons que visiter. En fait, je viens de New York." The waiter's smile widens as she responds, "Oh, New York! C'est une ville incroyable. Qu'est-ce qui vous amène ici?"
"Juste pour s'amuser." You reply with a playful tone, causing the waiter to chuckle. Tara furrows her eyebrows. She didn't exactly understand the conversation going on between you two, but she knew you had already given the waiter everyone's order, so why was she still here?
"Je pourrais peut-être obtenir votre numéro au cas où vous auriez besoin de quelqu'un pour vous faire visiter les lieux." You raise your eyebrows. Was she allowed to ask such a thing on the clock?
You hesitate for a moment, unsure of how to respond. However, you decide to play along and give her a friendly smile. "Bien sûr. Je suppose, merci."
The waiter smiles wider, ripping a piece of paper from her notepad and handing you a pen. You glance around your table, looking at everyone's reactions to see if they find this interaction as strange as you do. Chad seems amused, while Tara and Mindy appear indifferent. You quickly jot down your number on the paper and hand it back to the waiter, hoping that this won't lead to any awkward encounters in the future.
"Did you just give the waiter your phone number?" Chad asks, raising an eyebrow. You blush and shrug, unsure of how to explain your sudden decision. 'I didn't know what else to do," you mumble, hoping Chad won't tease you about it later.
"Uhh, I don't know? Decline?" Mindy says, rolling her eyes. Tara stays silent, her expression unreadable.
Breakfast continues in an awkward silence as you all try to move past the unexpected moment. The waiter returns with your orders, and you all focus on enjoying your meal, hoping that the incident will soon be forgotten.
When you exit the restaurant, you stand in the middle of the sidewalk, the group trying to decide where to go next. Chad scrolls through his phone, calculating the distance and travel time to various nearby attractions. Mindy suggests going to a local art gallery, while Tara remains quiet, still seemingly lost in her thoughts.
You lift your sunglasses off your face, leaving them perched on top of your head as you grab Tara's hands. Tara stares into your eyes, millions of thoughts going through her mind. She finally breaks the silence, "Are you going to call her?"
You give Tara a reassuring smile and gently squeeze her hands. "No." You simply say. Tara nods, allowing you to pull her into a hug, your bodies swaying back and forth. Tara wraps her arms around you, holding onto you tightly as if she never wants to let go. You place a kiss on the top of her head, not even noticing the group of girls approaching in the distance.
"Excuse me." One of the girls speaks up, catching your attention. Tara breaks away from the hug. Why is it hard to just have one moment of peace with you? You turn towards the group of girls, feeling slightly annoyed at the interruption.
"Can you be in our TikTok?" You raise an eyebrow, slightly taken aback by the unexpected request. "Umm..." Another girl speaks up, "Please. It's just a dancing video. We really admire your style and think you would add a lot to our video." Tara looks at you, waiting for your response.
You consider their request, weighing the pros and cons of joining their TikTok video. On one hand, it could be fun, and it's not every day someone asks you to join one of their TikTok videos. On the other hand, you were enjoying a moment of peace with Tara and didn't want to be interrupted again.
"I can't even dance." You admit smiling. However, the girl reassures you, "Don't worry! You just move your arms in a funny way, it's all about having fun and being silly." You glance at Tara whose head is in her phone.
You frown and say, "Okay." You reluctantly agree, realizing that it might be a good opportunity to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. The girls squeal with excitement and begin showing you how to do the dance, it was actually pretty easy.
One of the girls set their phone on the ground, positioning it to record the five of you dancing together. The music starts playing, and you do the stupid dance for about fifteen seconds before the video stops recording.
"Y/N! Where's Tara?" Mindy shouts, looking around frantically.
You look around and realize that Tara is nowhere to be seen. A feeling of worry washes over you as you start searching for her, hoping she didn't wander off too far.
Walking away from the group of girls, you walk to the twins, confused. "She was just here a minute ago. I'm not sure where she could have gone," you say. "Maybe if you weren't filming TikTok's with those girls, you would have noticed when she disappeared," Mindy remarks sarcastically.
You feel a pang of guilt, realizing that you were too caught up in the moment to keep an eye on Tara. "I'll call her."
-
You walk up behind Tara, who is engrossed in taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower, unaware of the panic she has caused. "Tara, we've been looking for you everywhere. We were worried," you say, trying to hide your relief.
"Sorry." Tara mumbles, but you can tell she doesn't mean it.
Tara's nonchalant response only adds to your frustration. You can't help but wonder if she purposely disappeared to get a reaction from everyone.
"Tara, what the hell is your problem?" you blurt out, unable to contain your anger any longer. Tara twists her body, anger flashing in her eyes as she meets your gaze. "My problem? Maybe if you actually paid attention to me once in a while, you would understand," she retorts, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
"We're here on vacation, Tara! I'm sorry that I'm not giving you my undivided attention every second of the day!" You yell, feeling your frustration rise.
"Oh, but you can give it to random girls you meet," Tara interrupts, her voice dripping with bitterness. Her words hit you like a punch to the gut, and you struggle to find a response. What?
"...I'm confused?" You stammer, trying to gather your thoughts. "I don't know what you're talking about, Tara. I haven't given my attention to anyone else but you."
Tara scoffs, "Airana? Remember when we were skiing? And then the waiter giving her your number? And just now! Those girls! It's like you're the main attraction in Paris, and it's annoying!"
You feel a pang of guilt as Tara's accusations sink in. The memories of Ariana and the waiter giving her your number flood back, making you realize that perhaps you haven't been as attentive as you thought. But before you can respond, Tara continues to express her frustration, leaving you at a loss for words.
"I wanted to go to Paris and enjoy our time together, but it feels like I'm constantly competing for your attention. I love you, Y/N! And it's so fucking scary because I don't want to lose you, but I also don't want to feel like I'm always fighting for your focus."
"Tara..." you start, walking closer to her. "I love you too. I'm sorry if it seems like I haven't been giving you enough attention, if you didn't notice already, I'm pretty oblivious to things sometimes. It's not that I don't care, it's just that I get caught up in my own thoughts, and I'm a people-pleaser...and maybe a dumbass."
Tara laughs, a small sniffle escaping her. "You're not a dumbass, just a little absent-minded sometimes," she says, wiping away a tear.
"Can I kiss you?" Tara's laughter fades into a warm smile as she nods, her eyes shining with affection. "Of course you can," she replies softly, leaning in closer to meet your lips.
You place a hand on Tara's cheek, feeling the warmth of her skin beneath your fingertips. The kiss is gentle at first but quickly deepens as you pour all of your love and longing into it. The world around you fades away as you lose yourself in the moment, loving the taste of Tara's lips and the softness of her touch.
You pull away slightly, opening your eyes to meet those pretty brown orbs that are filled with desire and adoration. The intensity of the moment leaves you breathless, and you can't help but smile as you realize just how lucky you are to have Tara in your life.
Just as you're about to lean in for another kiss, you hear cheering behind you. "Wooo! Finally!" Mindy shouts, clapping her hands excitedly. You turn around to see Chad and Mindy smiling at the two of you.
You pull Tara into a tight embrace, and she hides her face in your chest. "Are you seriously recording?" You glance at Mindy's phone and see that she indeed has her camera out, capturing the entire moment.
Laughing, you playfully scold Mindy for invading your private moment, but deep down, you're grateful to have such supportive friends who are genuinely happy for you.

You know how Spiderman has 'canon events'? And how Gwen would always die? How about in every universe Duke exists in, there would always be Danny. And every time they fall in love! But whenever Duke tells/hints at him being The Signal, Danny suffers an accident or dies.
Like let's say in the DC vs Vampires universe, Duke tells Danny he's Signal and then a few days later he gets turned into a vampire and Duke has no choice but to kill him.
Or something like that yknow?
Earth 26.
The undercity is full of life. People from above refuse to understand it, staunch in their beliefs that the undercity is full of crime and sickness, drugs and filth. But the people down there are more human than any of the ones Duke has met up top.
Though Bruce Wayne can try to bring Duke in all he likes, there’s no denying that Duke doesn’t belong. His heart will always be in the undercity, where he was born and grew up and lived and lost so much.
The undercity is where Danny is.
Away from the blue skies filled with blimps, tucked beneath the towering buildings and clocktowers and elevated rails for trains leaving trails of smoke through the city, there in the cramped spaces and dark alleys, is Danny.
He ducks through familiar alleys, cutting across perilously stacked homes and hopping over railings to get to the Fenton Lab faster.
He’s been excited all day, heart thrumming with anticipation, as he returns to his roots and seeks out Danny. Today is the day he’s going to come clean, tell Danny everything: his feelings, his powers, his identity as The Signal, fighting crime in all parts of the city to keep Gotham safe. He’s sure Danny suspects something is going on with him, likely has already guessed at everything he wants to talk about, but Danny deserves the truth.
It is his inventions that help Duke save people, after all.
Finding the front door of the Fenton lab is always a challenge. Metal scraps and materials stripped from vehicles litter the front of the building from people leaving all their unwanted things with the Fentons. Miscellaneous inventions and tools are left scattered around as well, creating a labyrinth that Duke has to traverse every time he wants to see Danny while he’s working with his parents.
It takes a few minutes, but Duke manages it, pushing open the door after a quick knock.
“Danny? Are you there?”
He can hear something from the lower floor, a strange, high pitched whirring noise. His powers kick in and suddenly he can see people rushing around the room, shouting in voices that he won’t be able to hear until the time comes. He can see himself, crying.
Duke’s heart drops.
“Danny? Danny!”
He runs down the stairs, suddenly terrified that he’s too late. Something is going to happen to Danny. It has to be Danny, because no one else is home with him; that’s why Duke asked to meet in the Lab, to have some privacy while the other Fentons were out.
The noise is louder, too loud to hear over, and Duke rushes into the Lab just in time to see some strange circle of metal spark with electricity. Danny stands right before, staring up at it.
“Danny!” Duke shouts as loud as he can, and Danny startles, then turns around.
Their eyes meet just as the machine finishes turning on, the metal circle ripping open with a thunderous noise, and Duke can do nothing but watch as it sends electricity and some other energy racing through Danny’s body.
It lasts just a brief moment, and then Danny is crumpling to the ground, eyes closed as the machine settles. The swirling pit of white and green stares out at him and Duke knows without a doubt that Danny is dead. . . .
Earth 41.
Duke’s been acting strange. Well, stranger than usual.
Danny’s not one to go around poking at people’s secrets, especially not his boyfriend’s, but he knows something big is going on. He’s not worried that Duke is cheating on him, but he can see the injuries he comes back with some days, citing all the unrest and the resurgence in crimes following Batman’s death.
He wonders if Duke is going out each night for street fighting, forcing all his emotions into his fists until they’re beaten bloody. Batman’s death hit him hard, and Danny has no idea what to do to help him.
They’re both stressed, on edge and scared, but they don’t fight as much as he expected. Admittedly, it’s hard to fight where they’re always spending time apart.
No longer. Tonight, Danny is determined to get to the bottom of things so he can help Duke with whatever he’s going through. He even texted Jazz to get some tips about communication and helping someone through grief. He’s as ready as he’ll ever be.
Right at 3AM, the window slides open.
“Welcome back, Duke,” Danny says, watching as Duke flinches, then sighs as he closes the window.
“What are you doing here, Danny?”
“Well, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other, I decided to hang out here and wait for you. But you’ve been gone for a long time.”
“Sorry, Danny, but I’m really tired. Can this wait?”
Anger bubbles in his gut and Danny takes a deep breath to force it down. “I’ve been waiting. If you keep pushing this conversation off, we’re never going to get anywhere.”
Duke slumps against the window, rubbing a hand against his face, looking exhausted. “Look, Danny, things have been getting real bad, and I don’t want you to get hurt because of it.”
“What’s going on, Duke? What are you so worried about?”
“It’s… The guy who killed Batman. His name is Karma, and I’ve been going after him.”
“You’ve been what?!” Danny shouts, shooting to his feet. “Duke, are you insane? Anyone who can kill Batman is bad news, there’s no way anyone short of like, Superman, can stop him! You’re going to get yourself killed!”
“Someone has to stop him! And I can do something to help, okay? I’ve been helping the other bats fight him. I can do this.”
Danny clenches his fists, feeling frost crack against his skin. “You could have told me,” he says. “You know I can help, too. You’re not the only one with powers.”
“I can’t endanger you like that, Danny.”
“So you leave me in the dark instead? You would have rather I wait for you forever while you never come back because you got yourself killed running into a situation you can’t get out of? You think I would have been any safer not knowing? Then clearly you haven’t been paying attention!” He’s shouting by the end of it, shaking with fear and rage and so many things it all becomes a tangled mess in his head.
“I really think we should have this conversation in the morning,” Duke says, eyeing Danny warily. It’s probably just because he’s been out all night hunting Karma, so used to being attacked while he goes out to try to save a city that even Batman couldn’t lift from the darkness, but that doesn’t stop the stab of hurt from going through his heart. Danny has done his best to be safe for Duke, to be human and comforting and strong enough to protect him.
And Duke is looking at him like he could be at threat.
“Whatever,” Danny mutters, shaking his head. “You’ll talk to me in the morning by saying nothing but how you need to do whatever this is and then you’ll leave and we’ll both be unhappy. Great. Can’t wait.”
“Danny—”
“Bye, Duke.”
Danny’s up and out of the apartment before Duke can take more than a few steps towards him. He zips up his jacket and pulls the hood over his head, taking the steps two at a time to get to street level. It’s dark and quiet outside, save for the distant police sirens, and Danny barely spares a glance around him before he’s making his own way home, sure that no one would still be out at that time.
He should have been more careful. More vigilant. Not so lost in his hurt feelings.
But there’s no time for that when he’s pulled into an alleyway, knife at his throat.
A man in a black helmet, face fully covered, stares down at him. “Well, well, well,” he purrs, digging the knife in a little deeper, “What’s the Signal’s little lover doing out so late at night?”
Signal?
…Duke. His boyfriend who always disappears in late hours, blows off dates when something big is going down in Gotham, who is trying to pick up the pieces following Batman’s death.
And here is Karma, the very man Duke is searching for, pulling Danny away into the dark.
He only has a brief moment to regret storming off, for not being more patient with Duke, for not paying attention and avoiding Karma, before the knife is pulled away, tossed into the air, and the hilt comes down hard on his temple, and it is a long, long time before he is seen again.
The Signal does not find him alive. . . .
Earth 53.
The apocalypse isn’t kind even on the best of days. But today it might be coming close to something resembling kindness as Duke approaches the skeletal remains of Gotham. It’s been years since he’s been back here, moving with the Robins across the United States just trying to survive. They’d constantly been moving, searching for other survivors and food and shelter and any sign of hope they could get.
There hadn’t been much anywhere, too much devastation across the country for anyone to even think of rebuilding. Even now, nature is just starting to recover, little green shoots pushing up through concrete rubble.
This world isn’t one for superheroes anymore. Supervillains aren’t around either. Everyone is either dead or barely getting themselves through each day; but humanity is still around and wildlife is beginning to recover.
Duke doesn’t know who’s left in Gotham these days. He suspects Oracle is still there, somewhere, helping reconnect telephone wires and setting up internet and electricity. Lights have been flickering on steadily as the Robins made their way into New Jersey and the sight lifted their spirits so much they decided to keep traveling through the night.
No one in his group has a working phone any more, but the possibility of getting that piece of the old world back excites them all.
By the time they reach the outskirts of the ruined city, the entire group is nearly buzzing with energy, speaking in hushes whispers that do nothing to hide the elation in their voices. Gotham was everyone’s home, once. They’re all happy to be back, regardless of what they’re walking into.
Duke volunteers to go scouting with a few others to find a good place to settle in for a bit as they reacquaint themselves with the city. Even before the end of the world, it was never a good idea to go blind into Gotham.
Much of the city is still abandoned, and concrete rubble carry faded graffiti that show the remains of a gang long gone. The few people he see in the distance are quick to hide and disappear and Duke himself is too wary to approach them. But as he gets closer to the heart of Gotham, picking his way through destroyed streets, he sees more and more signs of life, people who don’t hide, weak lights in hastily constructed shelters.
No one attacks him as he wanders closer. In fact, a few exchange nervous glances then approach him, quietly asking if he’s coming from outside Gotham and what news he brings of the outside world.
Duke tells them about how Chicago is gone completely, unable to be saved at all, but there are settlements all along the shores of the Great Lakes. He tells them of the traveling groups he’s met who rotate through a few chosen states and are willing to take in new members. He tells them of someone who has an entire farm up and running again, full of chickens and cows and sheep and goat and horses, on top of all the crop they can grow. The location of the farm is kept secret and carefully protected, but they give away seeds and young animals for anyone wanting to raise their own.
The news gathers more and more people around Duke, eager to listen, and they’re more than happy to update Duke on what’s happened in Gotham.
The Bats aren’t around as much anymore, but at least two of them are still in Gotham, helping people from the shadows. They’re fixing everything up as best they can, and most people live in or around Robinson Park where Ivy, who survived, grows food and shelter for everyone in exchange for protection and companionship. The Riddler turned from making death traps and taking hostages to creating new technology and inventions to make life a little easier, taking in a crew of assistants to learn from him.
That is to say nothing of the ghosts.
Gotham is full of them now, walking among the living as if they never died. They help people and stick with loved ones who lost them and fly through the air to deliver things with ease. It’s nothing that Duke has ever seen before, and he wonders how many people who died in the apocalypse chose to stay in such a ruined world.
He begins to head back to the Robins, mind racing with everything he’s learned, when he sees Danny.
Danny, his friend once, who he loved dearly and didn’t quite realize it was deeper than friendship until after the world ended. Danny, who was always sleepy and soft and smiling, cracking bad jokes and lifting Duke’s spirits whenever he felt down. Danny, who was lively and dreamed of going to space to sit among the stars.
Danny, who is dead.
He never got the chance to tell Danny he was the Signal, but he thinks Danny knew anyways. He could ask now, put that lingering thought to rest, but it was one of the few things left unsaid between them, the only thing he had of Danny for all these years, and he doesn’t want to let go of it yet.
Danny hasn’t seen him yet. Duke could go to him, speak to his ghost, have some part of him back in his life.
But it wouldn’t be the same. It certainly wouldn’t be fair to tie Danny, who is free from the pain and misery of the living, to Duke, who is never going to stay in Gotham permanently.
He misses Danny so much he feels hollowed out and empty, but he knows this is for the best.
Duke turns, pretending not to see him, and walks away. . . .
Earth 78.
Duke was…
Duke was important to him, Danny thinks. He can’t remember much, not after everything (electricity, screaming, pain pain pain, heavy darkness, a spark, hist chest cut open, where is ___? Why won’t he save—) but without any memory of what his life was like back then, his feelings are without context and easily ignored.
Wraith follows Shrike from a distance, watching as he drops into an alley to kill a rapist. Wraith feels nothing about this, for caring is not in his duties. He is instructed to simply keep Shrike alive and assist in his plans, whatever they may be. Wraith does not care about killing.
Danny, tucked away deep inside the mask, shivers and cries, wishing to hide away and say enough, please, that’s enough, just stop please stop stop stop stop—
Batman crosses the rooftops, a figure of darkness across the city’s skies. The Signal, his second oldest companion, travels through the shadows by his side until they land on the building Wraith stands on.
The yellow of Signal’s armor is familiar and it feels safe but Wraith knows better. Talia and Ra’s have taught him to see past his emotions, to force away any sentiment and grapple with the cold hard truth. This is the truth: they are here to hurt him and Shrike, because they are dangerous killers and dangerous killers are dealt with swiftly and painfully in Gotham.
They can do as they please to him. They will not take Shrike.
He engages Batman in battle first, easily slipping past his defense by going intangible, freezing his boots to the ground and icing his fists together. The Signal slips away at first, leaving Batman behind to try to get around Wraith, sending shadows towards Shrike who leaps away deftly, dodging them with ease as he leaves the beheaded body behind.
Wraith grabs Signal before he can fully sink into a shadow and tosses him back, then flies to Shrike, picking him up and getting them away as quickly as possible.
“They found us faster than I thought,” Shrike says. His voice carries something in it that Wraith doesn’t recognize, but it makes his heart feel heavy.
“We’re done for the night,” Wraith returns, voice low and hoarse. He died screaming and even the Lazarus Pits weren’t able to fix the damage done to his vocal chords.
He lets his invisibility wash over them both, and they disappear into the night. The safehouse they set up, far away from the one Talia prepared for them, is small but comfortable. It’s secure, everything created and coded by Tim, which means Danny can relax inside the walls of the small apartment.
Shrike helps him shed his gear, putting it away carefully. Wraith becomes Danny and he watches as Shrike becomes Tim.
Gone is the ruthless efficiency, the quickness to cut down the scum of Gotham without remorse. Instead, he’s pale and tired, eyes still a faint green from the linger remains of the Lazarus Pit that brought him back from the dead, but there is no madness in him. Only a coldness that came long before his death, unwanted by Damian, the first of Batman’s vigilante partners, who refused to see him as part of the family or even as a hero at all. Duke had already gone to work with other teams since then and never met Tim properly for more than a few minutes.
But he knew Danny. They must have been close. If seeing The Signal sends such a sharp stab of pain in his heart, it must be for a reason. But the memories are long gone, and with them, any desire to be close to him again.
They never do well after a run in with the Bats. Though they have won every fight they’ve had, Tim often retreats to bed in order to hide his tears and Danny is left alone, lost, and wishing he had stayed dead.
Tonight is no different. Tim is making a difference as Shrike, striking fear in the hearts of Gotham’s criminals. Crime has gone down in Crime Alley, his chosen territory of the city, killing as many people as needed before they finally get the message to be better people. Tim is also still only eighteen and had spent three years with the League of Assassins before returning to Gotham and seeing that his place in the Bats is erased and forgotten and replaced by the well-loved Jason.
He only stays in Gotham to kill the people who sold him off to the Joker and laughed as he died slowly and painfully. Once the Joker is dead, he’ll leave Gotham and disappear for good.
Danny will follow him. He has no life now and no other direction. And with Tim hiding under the covers, Danny can do nothing but feel his own skin crawl at the need to get away from everything that connects him to his life Before.
It’s a terrible idea, but he goes out again, heading into Otisberg, where he once lived. Only a raised hood conceals his face; the expressionless mask he usually wears is gone, and Wraith feels far away from him.
He hears the Signal land behind him some time later. It could be minutes or hours; time slips by Danny easily these days no matter how hard he tries to hold onto the minutes passing by.
“Wraith,” Signal says, and his voice is hard. “Where’s Shrike? Out terrorizing the rest of Gotham?”
Danny doesn’t reply. He stares out into the city lights, a cold emptiness growing inside his chest.
“Well, if you’re going to just sit there, then I suppose you don’t mind if I take you in to let Batman interrogate you. You’ve been causing a lot of trouble around here, and we don’t take kindly to murderous masks in Gotham.”
He doesn't resist as Signal grabs his wrists, hauling him up from where he was sitting on the ledge. Danny allows Signal to turn him around, shadows binding his wrists together and pulling down his hood.
The Signal sucks in a sharp breath, hands falling limp to his side. “Danny?”
Danny doesn’t respond.
“This better not be a joke, I swear to God. If you’re just wearing his face to fuck with me, I’m going to kill you, Batman’s rules be damned. Say something already!”
Danny looks up into the visor of Signal’s helmet. He opens his mouth and a hoarse whine slips out. “I knew you,” he manages to whispers. “I knew you. And then I died.”
The Signal flinches, then reaches up and pulls his helmet off. “Tell me something only we would know. Anything.”
“I don’t… remember. I wanted you to save me. I don’t think you did.”
“If this isn’t really you, Danny,” Duke says, voice thick with tears, “Then it’s a really fucked up joke.”
Danny looks at Duke, helpless. He doesn’t know what to do. What to say. Wraith only knows how to follow and protect and take orders. Danny doesn’t know how to live anymore. There is nothing he can do.
And then, as he stares as Duke, a memory slides into place, fuzzy but there.
“Arcade on eighth street,” he whispers, and Duke’s eyes go wide. “That was going to be our first date.”
“It was,” Duke says. There’s a light in his eyes now, something that looks like hope and the sight of it makes Danny sick to his stomach.
“I’m dead, Duke. Danny is dead. There is only Wraith now. Let the dead go, and stay away so we don’t have to kill you. I… want you to live.”
The shadows have loosened, still wrapped around his wrists but as a caress instead of a restraint. It doesn’t take any strength to pull out of them and drop off the roof, falling towards the ground. Danny lets gravity take hold of him for a few moments, then goes invisible and flies away just as Duke grapples down and searches for him desperately.
He can hear Duke calling his name, then calling in Batman and Nightwing, but his voice fades away before Danny can make out what they’re saying.
Not that it matters. Whether tomorrow or further down the line, he and Tim will leave Gotham and disappear for good.
The dead cannot stay with the living, and so they will go.
There’s nothing left for them here, anyways. . . .
Earth 0.
Duke has had his fair share of strange dreams. It comes with the trauma and the powers, a terrible mix that leave him shaken and rattled when he wakes up, gasping for breath.
But instead of fear, his latest series of dreams leave him with a deep-seated feeling of grief. The details fade away quickly once he’s awake, but he can remember bits and pieces of worlds that looks so different from the one he lives in, and all of them have a single constant: Danny.
Danny, whose face he never remembers when he wakes. Danny, whose name is permanently etched into his mind. Danny, who he loves and loses every single night.
Danny, someone he’s never met.
Dick asks him if he’s alright the next time he’s in Gotham, eating breakfast in the manor with him and Tim. He considers lying, then tells him about the dreams and how frequent they are, snapshots of other lives where there is someone important to him that he can never save. Tim, who he thought was sleeping with his eyes half open, looks up and mumbles that it might be another universe.
After a few cups of coffee, Tim is awake enough to ramble on about the multiverse, pulling up reports from the Batcomputer on his phone to show Duke how many of them have had run ins with alternate universes.
“So you’re saying that Danny might be here? In this world?”
Tim shrugs. “Well, maybe. If he’s the only constant, then I wouldn’t be surprised. If you’re here, so is he.”
“But he always dies!”
“Don’t worry, Duke,” Dick says, putting a comforting hand on his shoulder, “If you do find him, then you’ve got all of his to help keep him safe.”
“Do you want me to find him? If you give me a description, I can probably narrow it down to a few people in the United States. One of them might be him.”
Duke considers it for a moment, then shakes his head. “Nah, thanks though. If we’re supposed to meet, then we will. No point in rushing it.”
“Alright. Let me know if you change your mind.”
And that had been that. Nothing to really worry about, but the dreams continue and Duke keeps waking up grieving and so love with Danny, carrying the feelings of his alternates over to his own reality. At some point, he wishes that he and Danny would never cross paths in this world, if only so he doesn’t have to lose him.
But he wants to meet him. The universe says Danny is important to him; why else would he be part of his life in every world?
The thought never leaves him. It’s always in the back of his mind as he goes about his life, going to school and fighting crime. He finds himself lingering in the streets, trying to see everyone’s faces, listening for that familiar voice.
It takes over a year before he hears someone say, “Danny!” as he’s patrolling as Signal.
He bends the light around him, going invisible, and searches for the people shouting the name of the person he hadn’t been able to get out of his mind. It takes some time, but his eyes land on a tall, red haired woman fussing over a boy with black hair and blue eyes, leaning down some so she could reach his face.
He can’t hear what they say with the distance between them, but he knows with absolute clarity that he’s looking at Danny.
His Danny.
Duke takes a step forward, ready to drop his invisibility, letting the light escape his grasp, the pauses when he sees the bright smile on his face.
This Danny is safe. He is alive and laughing and is with someone he cares about.
This Danny has a life and a future and as much as Duke wants to know why his alternate selves love Danny so much, it isn’t worth Danny’s life.
Heart breaking, Duke steps back and watches as they walk away, disappearing into the crowded streets.
He stares after them long after they’ve disappeared from sight, then grapples to a rooftop and releases his hold on the light. He sinks to his knees, trying to breathe through the grief that runs through him, and taps a pattern into his comms to signal that he’s ending his patrol early.
It’s fine, he tells himself. This is for the best. This will keep Danny alive.
Danny always dies because of Duke. Someway, somehow, whenever they meet, the bell tolls and Danny’s death quickly approaches. It happens in every world, in the many, many dreams he’s had looking into a moment of their lives.
But not this one.
In this one, Duke will save Danny by doing the only thing he can: making sure they never meet.
It’s for the best. It has to be. . . .

Your mom is best friends with Karen Kiszka. This caused you to practically grow up with the Kiszka siblings, having weekly Sunday dinner with them after church for years. She had always hoped that you would “fall in love with the curly haired one” and insists that “he’s a nice boy, you’re just being stubborn.” But you couldn’t stand “the curly haired one,” Josh. He’s loud, obnoxious, very full of himself and worst of all a former theater kid. After graduation you had really hoped your mom would drop it. You liked Jake, Veronica and Sam, hell, even Sam’s best friend, Danny, was better to hang out with than Josh. You have made a conscious effort to avoid Josh since graduation, even taking a gap year in the off chance he would go to any real college instead of whatever the hell he was doing. You felt guilty for not liking him, but you had your reasons even if nobody else understood.
“Honey! The boys are going up to the U.P. this weekend for some skiing thing, Mrs. Kiszka said Ronnie’s sick and can’t go. She wants to know if you’ll go so she can change reservations, the pass is already paid for!” You hear your mom shout down the hallway into your room.
You have gone 6 months without seeing Josh, why the fuck would you WILLINGLY do it now? It was tempting though. A weekend getaway with the hot one, Jake? Naturally at the expense of the same weekend being spent with his weird twin brother, the thought of a weekend stowed away with Jake kept you thinking. You’ve always had a thing for Jake, ever since he sat behind you in preschool and complimented the red bow in your hair. He was a heartthrob in highschool, but somehow remained single the whole time. He plays guitar, he’s funny, he’s damn good looking and definitely out of your league. The more you thought about Jake the closer you got to caving in.
“Um… sure! I haven’t really seen Jake since graduation, so it might be fun!” You’ve officially signed yourself up for what could be the best or the worst weekend of your life.
You start packing a bag, with only 1 day’s notice it was a tough time digging through what might not even be clean clothes. You’d only been to the U.P. once when you were little, not even old enough to remember anything other than getting sick in the car from driving for too long. You toss through some clothes until you find ones you think will catch Jake’s eye in the cabin. It’s been instilled in you that red’s his favorite color. You never asked him but why else would he have complimented your bow so many years back? Excitement made it hard to sleep, you watched the clock hit 4:23. You were so tired you wouldn’t have remembered what time you started dozing off if it wasn’t Jake’s birthday. The excitement washes away and you’re finally asleep.
𖤓
“HELLOOOO!! WAKE UP!!” You heard someone right in your ear. It didn’t sound like anyone you lived with, and nobody who comes over is that fucking loud but one person, Josh.
“Dude, what the FUCK are you doing in my room?!” You start to open your eyes and turn towards who you presume to be Josh.
“We’re supposed to leave soon… your mom said to come wake you up,” he just stood bedside as if he belonged there, his presence shaking you to the core. He looked different, a good different. Haircut, a little stubble, did he get his eyebrows plucked…?
“Josh, I mean this kindly, get the fuck out of my room. Right. NOW!” You felt a little bad for yelling, but decided he deserved it for intruding.
You hear his footsteps leave your bedroom, Josh grabs your suitcase on the way out to start packing the Suburban. Feeling guilty for what happened, you slowly roll out of bed and get dressed in warm clothes to beat the December chill. You try not to let the situation bother you, this weekend was a spur of the moment and Mrs. Kiszka paid for your entire trip. You would finally get some time away from work and do something fun. Midway down the hall, your mom stops you to give you some money for your trip and a kiss on your cheek.
“I heard you yelling up there… Now you be nice to my future son-in-law, don’t scare him away, that boy will do good for you.” Was she seriously still on this?
“Mom, for the THOUSANDTH time, I hate Josh. Always have. Why can’t you root for maybe… his better half? Jake is so much cooler.” You’ve been begging her for years to drop this narrative, and yet she continues with it.
“Honey, Jake’s too quiet for you, and if I’m not mistaken he has a lady, or maybe I misheard Karen… You know he’s just- he’s an interesting boy that one. Not bad at all, sweet kid, he’s just a little odd, darling. I think Josh’ll grow on you.” She was adamant on you and Josh being together, but she was so wrong.
You head outside and hop into the van behind the passenger seat. You assumed the usual position, Josh driving, Jake passenger, Sam behind Josh. That’s how it had always been when you guys took trips together. Jake was the first one in, he got in the driver seat. Very odd, but no way Josh’s ego would let his 15 year old brother in the front seat. You would have to sit behind him but that’s not worse than next to him. Sam approaches the van, he’s getting into the passenger seat. ‘Not a fucking shot…’ You thought so loudly you were afraid you might have said it. Following behind Sam was Josh, speak of the devil and he will arrive. The devil gets into the seat behind the driver, making this the most unfortunate seating arrangement ever. You didn’t know how long of a car ride this was, but you knew every second spent next to Josh would be insufferable. Worst part was Josh brought an extra bag and instead of placing it between the two of you, he scooched himself into the middle seat and placed his bag on the seat behind Jake.
Halfway through and Josh still hasn’t really spoken to you. Your main source of interaction was little Sammy boy in the front seat, asking him how school was going and if he had any plans for college yet, how Danny was, boring older sister-esque stuff. You didn’t say much to Jake so he could focus on driving, the last thing you wanted was him getting into an accident with ¾ of the Kiszka kids and you, an only child. The Michigan roads weren’t as bad as usual, but still not the greatest with black ice and slushy snow. There was a silence in the van amongst the people, the only thing playing was one of their CD’s Sam put in for you to hear. He had just started making music with his brothers, which was just about the only thing 15 year old Sammy had going on, poor kid. Their music was probably the only bit of Josh you could stand. His voice sounds nice when he sings, so why is it when he speaks you want to tape his mouth shut?
Jake has been driving for who knows how long, looking at the clock would only make it worse. Staring out of the window you start to feel tired, this was uncommon for you but the lack of sleep last night was really doing a number. You start to drift off with the light sound of music humming in the background. You let your head rest against the seat, and slowly fall to the left. You’re so used to the original seating, you didn’t think about whose shoulder you would land on. Sam, right? You’d only done this one other time, and Sam didn’t mind too much until you started drooling and he pushed your head into the window so it had somewhere to lay. But this shoulder felt different then Sam’s, much more broad and definitely had less bone going on. You didn’t care, maybe it was his jacket, all you cared about was getting some damn sleep. You feel a cheek press against the top of your head, and you nuzzle into the feeling of comfort.
“Okay, we’re here guys. Just barely in time to check into our cabins. C’mon sleepyhead.” You feel a hand reach back and shake your knee to wake you up. Your eyes open to Jake staring back, his hand on your knee and Sammy peering over the passenger seat. Suddenly it hits you.
‘If Sam’s up there… who’s shoulder am I- oh my fucking god…’ You felt shivers go down your spine. You realized you had been asleep on Josh’s shoulder this entire time, simultaneously (and unfortunately for you) realizing it was the best nap you’ve ever taken.
‘He smelled nice, he didn’t push me off of him, he’s really warm, NO! Ugh’ You lift your head off of Josh’s shoulder to apologize to him, only to realize he had fallen asleep too. You wondered for a second if he thought the same thing, and you wondered why you felt so much comfort and content on his shoulder if you disliked him as much as you thought.
All four of you get out, grab your bags and head towards the check in area. You hear Jake mention two cabins to the lady at the desk. Your heart thumps faster at the thought of a cabin with Jake, quickly bringing yourself back down remembering Karen probably put the twins together, and the two youngest together. Bunking with Sam isn’t who you were hoping for, but he’s a good kid, the lesser of the two evils. Jake approaches the group with the keys for the cabins.
“Okay, me and Sammy are in 21, Josh and Y/N are in 22, sound good?” Another thought struck so loud you again felt people heard it. ‘No, Jake, it doesn’t sound good. Why would Karen break it up that way, this has to be some sick joke, maybe Ronnie isn’t sick at all and mom put this together.’
“Shall we?” Josh reaches his hand out for yours in a curtsy. All you could think was ‘What a dork…’ Instead you push his hand down, knowing if you grabbed his hand it would be accompanied with a kiss on yours. The group makes their way to their assigned cabins, the snow started picking up and made the 5 minute walk feel like eons. Once you reach the cabins, you wave a sad wave to Jake and Sam as Josh gets the door to your impending doom. He grabs your bag for you and enters the cabin, you follow slowly behind.
“You can pick which room you want.” He says quietly, completely not the Josh you know.
“Josh, are you okay? I’m really sorry for yelling at you this morning. I just- I went to bed late, I was frustrated was all,” you were on the verge of tears trying to make amends with someone you usually didn’t care about hurting. You hate to admit it, but your mom was right, he is a sweet boy. Maybe that’s why you feel so guilty, that and the fact he’s been different towards you since then.
“You know what? It doesn’t matter, it’s fine really.” His voice came out shaky, you knew it wasn’t fine but you didn’t know how to undo the past.
Trying to think of the right words to say, you begin lugging your bag into the direction of the smaller room. You figure it’s the least you can do after being so mean to him.
Each in your own rooms unpacking, you get deep in thought again.
‘Why do I hate him so much? He’s gotta know after 15 fucking years, there’s no way. Why’s he always so nice? Maybe it’s me.’
Your thoughts are interrupted by Josh tapping his knuckles on the door. You turn around to see him timidly standing in the doorway, probably because the last time he entered a room you occupied, he choked back tears.
“What’s up, Josh?” You try to approach him like a stray cat you’re trying to befriend for the first time.
“Jake just called me, him and Sammy are snowed in. I was gonna go help them, but we’re in the same boat, ‘bout halfway up the door…” He places one of his hands on the side of his head awkwardly fidgeting with his curls.
“So, what do you want to do then? I think I saw some board games under the coffee table. Or maybe a movie?” You were trying to make the best of an even more unfortunate circumstance. Not only were you stuck in a cabin with your least favorite Kiszka, but now there was 4ft of snow locking you in the cabin with him.
Josh’s eyes widened in excitement, “Wait, actually? Usually you don’t want… nevermind, I’ll be at the table when you’re done.”
‘Fuck. He definitely knows. I mean how wouldn’t he know. I can’t even talk to him without being a bitch. I wish I could like him. I really do.’ For once you actually feel bad for the consecutive years of poor treatment towards Josh Kiszka on your behalf. You decide it’s time to make amends, become his friend instead of his enemy. Hey, one day you’ll be married to Jake, right? Can’t have your brother-in-law hating your guts.
You try to stall putting your clothes in the dresser, just trying to figure out the right words to make this apology perfect. You have 15 years to make up for, that’s almost your entire lives, although you’d like to think you didn’t start hating him until the 6th grade. You walk out to the living room area, gathering the words and courage up. He made hot cocoa, started the fireplace and already had a game of Monopoly set up. He shuffled one of his playlists that had a mix of a bunch of old people you’d never remember the names to. You were met with his dorky smile as he waved his arms out and wiggled his fingers followed by “Ta-daaaa!” You tried not to blush, the sentiment was touching.
“Josh, before we start the game, can we talk?” You feel tension in the air, your palms growing sweaty.
“Sure, you can sit down y’know, I don’t bite… anymore…” You giggled because as far as you can recall, you don’t think he’s ever bit someone.
“I’ve been thinking lately about how I am with you. I feel bad for avoiding you and always making plans with Jake and Sam when you’re busy. You’re really sweet and fun. Maybe too much fun for me, I think I need to dial it up and we’d be okay. I guess what I’m getting at is I’m sorry, Josh. I’m sorry for always being a bitch.” You feel like you pulled words out of a hat and threw them together.
“Y/N, it’s okay. I try not to take anything personally. I just try to put the energy and positivity into the world that I’d like to get back. I’d hope that in and of itself makes us ‘okay’ not the fact you feel bad. Please, I just want what’ll make you happy.” All you can think is how he captures the essence of the sun perfectly. He radiates warmth and love, you finally realize that it hasn’t been Josh this whole time, it’s been you.
You get up and walk towards Josh, reaching for a hug. He gladly stands up and takes you in his arms. His body against yours feels warm and you’re fully engulfed in his scent as you nuzzle your face into the crook of his neck.
“I felt particularly bad when I fell asleep on you and realized I liked it.” You were afraid of ruining the moment, but Josh giggles at your statement.
“I felt particularly bad when I thought about moving your head to stop you from drooling on my shirt, but I wanted you to be comfortable. I was trying to avoid being a Sammy 2.0” You couldn’t even be mad at him after all the shit you’ve put him through.
Josh is still holding you tight in his arms, soaking in the first good interaction you’ve had in an overdue time. Can’t Help Falling in Love comes on shuffle, you hear Josh start humming only making you want to stay there longer. He starts to gently sway with you. You move your arms up from around his shoulders to around his neck as you pull away to look at his face. Taking in all of his features, you realize how gorgeous Josh really is. His coffee eyes sparkle with hints of amber and his light winter complexion paired with his curls gently resting across his forehead. His perfectly sculpted nose sat above his plump, deep colored lips. Had you spent any of these years getting to know him you’re afraid you would have fallen in love. Josh’s been looking at you this entire time and you’d wondered if he was thinking the same things.
“What’s going on in there, gorgeous?” He broke the silence, having you melt in your spot with widened eyes.
“You’re the gorgeous one,” You blushed, feeling it was the wrong thing to say, but remembering he started it first.
Josh’s cheeks grow rosy, “That’s two firsts in one sentence…” you raised your eyebrow at him before he continued “… being called gorgeous, and being complimented by you.”
It’s like his body was calling you, you cradle his face with one of your hands. Rubbing his cheek with your thumb, you start to lean in for a kiss, hoping it’s the right move to make. Josh leans right into you as if this was a familiar occurrence, making it feel as if your lips belong to his. The room around you feels as if it’s spinning, a feeling of ecstasy fills the space around you. He moves one of his hands from your waist to the nape of your neck, tangling your hair between his fingers, he pushes you in gently. You let out the tiniest moan, the feeling of his fingers on your neck sending shivers down your spine. You slowly inch forward forcing Josh backwards toward the couch, you’re yearning for his touch more than you ever thought. He plops down onto the old couch and you fall straddling him making sure your lips never leave his.
You knew what you wanted but you weren’t sure how Josh was feeling. Hesitantly, you pull away from him to ask, “Do you want to do more…?”
Josh looked at you with thin eyes for a second before he realized what he thought you were implying. “Wait like by more do you mean, it.”
You giggled at his terminology. It. “Only if you want to, I’m okay with this, too,” you say reassuringly, you’re afraid maybe you pushed your luck.
Josh doesn’t speak, but the expression on his face says everything. He has a fiery look in his eyes, his cheeks red to the touch. You start kissing him again, feeling him against you through all layers of clothing. Even if this was as far as it got, it was much farther than you ever imagined with either of them.
Josh slides his hand down the small of your back past the waistband of your leggings. He drags his finger tips across your asscheek making you whimper into his mouth. You grind forward on his clothed cock, eager for some sort of relief.
“Josh, please,” you’re begging him to do something at this point, you knew you needed more.
“What do you need?” You can’t tell if he’s being serious, or if he’s really gonna make you ask for it.
“You, I need to feel you.” You barely managed to whine out what you hope he wants to hear.
Josh decides not to waste anymore time. He taps your thighs signaling you to stand up.
“Take those off,” he says pointing to your pants, “and take that off too.” He moves his finger up to point to your shirt.
Josh begins standing up from the couch removing all of his clothing. He’s standing in front of you entirely naked leaving you in your undergarments. You stare at his cock in disbelief of the size. Without hesitation you get down on your knees infront of him, mouth wide open letting him take the reins. He grabs your hair into a makeshift ponytail as you work your tongue around his tip. He’s so big you’re not confident it’s going to fit in your mouth, let alone other places, but you try to take him entirely. You rest him on your tongue and brace your hands on his thighs, slowly working him down your throat. You drag the fingers from your left hand up his thigh and cup his balls. Josh bucks his hips forward in pleasure, causing you to gag, your eyes filling up with tears. He reaches his free hand to your face and wipes away the tears before removing himself from your mouth.
“I wasn’t done!” You teased him.
“Your eyes are watering, I’m not gonna do that to you.” He said gently before lifting you off the ground.
He holds you close to his body in a sheltering hug as he unclasps your bra. He follows this up with a strange question.
“Heads or tails?” You raise your eyebrow in confusion, because what the hell does that have to do with anything?
“Heads?” You say as you see him reaching for a coin.
He flips the coin and catches it, flipping it onto the back of his hand.
He sucks his teeth, “Sorry baby girl, tails.”
He signals you to the couch, you sit down on it but he flips you over, your breasts touching the back of the couch, knees sinking into the cushions. ‘So this is what he meant…’ you think to yourself.
Josh is standing behind you, you feel his hands on either hip, and his breath at the small of your back. You feel his teeth grab your panties as he pulls them down. Josh is on his knees, staring right at your heat, panties around your thighs. You feel him spread your asscheeks, getting a full view, and then you feel his breath again. He licks a stripe from your clit all the way to your entrance before dipping his tongue into you. You let out a moan at the anticipated relief you’d been searching for. He starts lapping at your clit like his life depends on it, working two digits into your entrance. It feels so good you feel like you might cum before the best part happens.
“Are you ready?” He asks, pulling himself away from you.
You didn’t want him to stop touching you with his tongue, but you wanted him more in a different way. You shake your head yes to him, but deep down you’re nervous if he’ll even fit. Josh lines himself up with your entrance, his hands spreading you wide open for him to see. He places his tip at your entrance before slowly pushing in. He moves his hands to your hips. You’re breathing halts, the sensation sends a fuzzy feeling across your entire body.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
“More.” You could barely speak through the high but you still knew what you wanted.
Josh pushes himself deeper until you feel his pelvis touching your ass, he lays across your back, arms around you and plants a kiss between your shoulder blades. He stays there for a second as your slick covers him. As he begins working at a slow pace, he reaches an arm down to toy with your clit. He starts to thrust at a normal pace, working you down to nothing for several minutes.
“Are you close?” He whispers into your ear.
“Uh-huh, are you?” You ask back.
“Yeah, but I want to see that pretty face when you do.” He lays you down on the couch, facing the ceiling as he works his way on top of you.
He wraps your legs around his waist, he shoves his cock back into your dripping pussy, tucking his arms under yours and around your shoulders. He nestles his face into your neck and digs his fingertips into your shoulders. You’re scratching up his back so hard, you’re anticipating open wounds and bloody nails. You feel Josh’s pelvis rubbing against your clit, making you tighten around him again.
“Are you on birth control?” He frantically asks, but you’re assuming for good reason.
“Yeah, IUD.” You respond through sharp breaths, fighting the urge to cum without him.
“Oh, okay, good.” He chuckles a little.
“Josh, I’m gonna cum.”
“Yeah, me too, c’mon show me what ya got.”
You start to moan through shortened breaths, digging your nails deeper in his back, body twitching under Josh’s, you can feel yourself tighten around him as you reach your climax. Following your release, Josh starts to slow down, taking longer, deeper strokes, pulling you down onto his cock by your shoulders.
“Josh, cum in me.” You never thought those words would ever leave your mouth.
He starts to kiss all over your collar bone between low register moans. He thrusts into you one more time, filling you with his cum, followed with a deep sigh. He immediately pulls out and goes to get something to clean you up with. He comes back with a roll of toilet paper as a temporary fix until you make it to the shower.
“Holy shit man, I can’t believe that just happened.” Josh says while wiping his cum off of you.
“Yeah, me either.” You admit.
Josh helps you sit up on the couch, and he places a kiss on your glowing cheek. You get up to get into the shower, barely able to walk and unable to figure out where to go from here. Do you try to take it further, and let your mom be right about the boy you fought years denying? You decided that was something you could figure out later, right now you just wanted to get cleaned up and watch a movie with Josh. You spend about 20 minutes in the shower before strolling out in a pair of pajamas Josh grabbed for you from your room. He made a makeshift fort and had ELF ready to play with some fresh hot cocoa and popcorn that was just popped. You snuggled up with Josh for your little date night, and let all the future explanations wash away as you fell asleep in the warmth and comfort of his arms.

Phic Phight - I Out Pew Pew Your Pew Pew
For: @wingedflight
Danny is kinda a walking weapon even with ignoring his ghostliness, and robbing a bank is certainly one way to find that out
Danny? Yeah Danny was having a day. He turbo fucked his right shin and now had a cast, even with that his parents were still insisting on Danny himself going to both set up the new FentonWorks deal with a non-military adjacent investor/potential buyer and for him to set up the investment/deposit any under the table cheques at the bank. Of course, he had to be in his FentonWorks brand hazmat/spandex -gotta be able to show off those weapons and other gadgets at the drop of a hat right?- for said meeting, he dressed it up with a burgundy lab coat, fuzzy green and purple plaid pants, and a pair of dark blue doc martins; combined with the white trimmed with black spandex he hopes he was a fucking eyesore.
“-It’ll be a pleasure doing business with FentonWorks”, the gray-suited man gets up and they shake hands. White gloved hand to pale hand, the other man had a gaudy ring on his ring finger with diamonds so most likely married though his watch was definitely a fake Rolex. The man was bringing both legal and… less than legal money to the table so Danny makes a point to pull the guy in and clap him on the back, “do keep in mind, my uncle is Vlad Masters, I’m sure you understand”, and let’s the guy go, finger snapping and finger gunning as he take his leave; the other man looks slightly shocky. Fucking good. Sometimes people would try to pull one over on his parents, mostly due to Jack’s seeming obviousness and innocence, and they’d sometimes try it with Danny too due to him being all young and shit. It didn’t help that his dad feel for it sometimes, even his mom had once or twice due to being excited or too focused on other things. Danny, however, never had, he was way too perceptive and aware of the more unkind side of people (ghost or human) for that; which is probably why his parents wanted him to handle all the deals and clients now. Was it a pain? Yes. Most of the clients were either a little wacky, a little shady, or just painfully normal. But bringing up Vlad, who had a goddamn thirty-ish year reputation for being brutal/vindictive and unscammable in business, usually stopped anyone from even trying to pull one over on Danny.
Vlad definitely didn’t mind, that man liked his more intimidating business reputation, and would absolutely run someone’s business into the ground on Danny’s behalf; at least they got on well these days, so the rich ass wouldn’t ask for much in return.
So anyways, bank time, as he slips in through the slightly squeaky doors with a whistle; thank fuck he was practiced in walking around with casts. Slapping his cheques down on the till and, as is typical of his luck, all Hell breaks loose immediately after.
Doors banging open loudly and men shouting stereotypical bullshit, “ON THE GROUND NOW! THIS IS A ROBBERY! IF YOU DONT WANT TO DIE YOU’LL LISTEN THE HELL UP!”, and fires a few rounds at the ceiling. Don’t these jackasses know that could cause ricochets and shit?
Needless to say everybody drops… except Danny, who, you know, has a fucking cast and thus would reasonably have difficulty with that shit. The chuckle fucks don’t really like that of course, one pointing a gun at an unaffected looking Danny, “ground, now”.
“I don’t know about you guys but I kinda have difficulty laying on the ground with a fucking cast on”.
The guy rolls his eyes under his ski mask, “funny. Ground, I don’t care how difficult it is”.
Danny shrugs and just kinda falls sideways, landing on the ground with a huff and a very loud thump. This? This was not what the armed man expected him to do and he just stands in shock for a beat; Danny’s tempted to knock the man’s feet out and bite him to get some kind of upper hand but… he wasn’t alone in the building and he wasn’t about to risk collateral. so the man with the gun grunts and goes back to the others to watch everyone while giving him some weirded out side-eye.
Cue operation big ass distraction. He is literally wearing a spandex suit filled to the brim with weapons and that’s super fucking durable, a regular ass gun ain’t doing shit and these guys don’t look like they brought ecto-based weaponry or a rocket launcher or an anti-tank rifle… just so long as they don’t shoot him in the fucking head. Granted that won’t really do anything else either but that was because he was already dead, and while that would really make these idiots realise the situation they’re in, that shit being caught on camera would be super bad.
So Danny starts drumming his fingers on his stomach, then moving his arms and legs around like he’s making snow angels, when that doesn’t get mu- oh wait never mind, they’re staring at him and one of the guys mutters, “are you fucking kidding me”. Danny bounces his feet up and down making thumping noises and making his whole body shake; while also trying the gesture to everyone to, like, hide or some shit. At least shimmy away from his ass, ‘cause trying to shimmy away from the guy that’s practically begging to be shot is very reasonable behaviour that the gunmen won’t really question much.
A slightly taller jackass comes over this time, pointing his gun right at Danny’s nose, “I can just kill you now if you feel like being annoying”.
Danny smirks very mockingly, “go ahead, be doing me a favour or two”. And the man eyes how Danny is very clearly entirely unbothered by the gun in his face. “Lookie a kid with a death wish, on your stomach. Now”, and he nudges Danny’s side with his gun barrel; everyone is very much not near Danny now.
Danny does oblige, again he doesn’t actually want to get shot in the face. The taller man backs up and mutters to another, “he might be real trouble, either he doesn’t fear death or he’s made these kinds of rounds before”; his buddy just nods curtly and passes the message along.
Nice. More eyes on Danny. Danny likey. Also he absolutely heard someone managing to hit the panic button; ghost ears for the win. unfortunately said ghost ears are also picking up on the guys doing a solid job breaking into the safe, these guys have done this before.
And then someone other than Danny does something stupid and lunges for one of the men’s guns, Danny wants to call the girl a fucking moron as she gets shot in the foot without any hesitation. Aka, Danny’s hand is solidly forced now since he was no longer their only ‘problem’ meaning playing distraction via erratic behaviour wasn't gonna work now. Whelp. Nothing for it. Taking advantage of the girls distraction to twist his palms under his collar bone and flex his feet so his toes are flat in the ground. Grinning, “a cast might hinder your legs but you know what it doesn’t hinder? Your ankles”, and uses his wrists and toes/ankles to springboard/slingshot himself forward and straight into the nearest asshole's knees.
The guy goes down like a sack of bricks.
Danny snaking his arm around to jab the guy one in the chin, knocking him out easily with a little help from his ghostly strength; then grabbing his shirt and flinging the man at the other men, Danny grabbing the man’s gun too while he’s at it and using the gun as a prop to shove himself back into standing upright.
Danny took issue with killing. Big no to murder. But what he didn’t take issue with was injuries; people don’t die from mild enough injuries, they just hurt like a son of a bitch.
So Danny shoots two guys in their feet, both feet. While everyone else starts panicking and running around; Danny winds up shooting one of the guys in the shoulder -barely- cause he tried to shoot a fleeing old dude. Danny basically gliding over the ground, using the reach of the butt of the gun to deliver knock out neck hits to the two guys he shot in the foot; chuckling the gun at the shoulder shot guy, he’s not super happy with the thunk noise it makes against the fuckers chest but he’s still breathing… just maybe with a cracked rib or two.
Now there’s just the two in the vault and the two in this room with him, both of the later have their guns on him at this point and obviously think he just threw away his weapon based on their definite smirks under their masks.
Danny glances around at the ground like he’s looking for another weapon, one of the men chuckling, “not so cocky now, are we”. Danny looking back up and shrugging, “oh I assure you, I am the perfect amount of cocky”, and suddenly Danny has a bazooka.
The two men’s eyes go wide, Danny taking their shook as a chance to summon out a little laser gun from its ankle slot and promptly laser seals shut the vault; those men can stay there and get picked up by the cops… whenever the cops can manage to get it back open anyways. But for now, bazooka. Danny snickers, “your guy’s luck must really suck to pick the one time to commit robbery at the same time as when an owner of a ground breaking weapons company that even does deals with some… less than public government sectors, will be around doing business”, grin turning mean, “and I’m the owner with the best shot”; the bazooka charging up with a whine. Any remaining hostages are either huddling further in their hiding spots, trying to record this shit, or muttering profanities.
‘Cause yeah, this was definitely a weird ass scene. Three unconscious bank robbers, a ‘wack job’ in a red lab coat plus spandex body suit plus green/purple pants plus blue shoes like he’s from a fucking comic book or something, and two other bank robbers having a gun stand-off with bazooka mad scientist dude. The fact that Danny was grinning like he was having a jolly good time while the robbers looked all serious, really sold it.
Annnnnnnnd then the cops show up.
“EVERYBODY PUT YOUR HANDS UP AND GET DOWN ON THE GROUND! Put your weapons down”. The robbers do as their told instantly while glaring bloody murder at Danny.
Danny, however, actively pouts, “hey, I’m just defusing the situation”. He sounds so serious that even the cops are thrown off and pause, everyone eyeing him.
The shorter robber fucker wheezes, “kid, you’re fucking crazy”.
Danny shrugs, still holding his bazooka, “first off, I’m an adult. Second off, again I have a leg cast so that whole get on the ground thing’s gonna take some time. Third off, Imma Fenton, crazy’s in the genes”, smirking, “or in the spandex jumpsuit, I guess. These definitely aren’t denim”.
One of the cops lowers her gun, “you’re a Fenton”.
Danny takes one hand off the bazooka and points to his face, grinning goofily, “Daniel James Fenton, heir to FentonWorks, at your service”; somewhat slowly lifting up the bazooka to point it at the ceiling instead, all the cops -except the lady cop who spoke up- following him with their guns the entire time.
Tall robber sounds slightly confused, “full name? Are you not concerned a friend of ours will come hunt you down for this”; one of the cops grabbing him and yanking his cuffed ass up very roughly.
“Eh, bigger men with bigger arsenals haven't succeeded yet so I’m not worried”.
Meanwhile, lady cop holsters her gun, waving the others off, “don’t bother with him, Fenton’s are basically exempt from the law”. The other cops looking dumbfounded at her, one even giving her a, “seriously?”.
“Yes, seriously. You three, get that vault open”.
Danny nods, retracting the bazooka, “good call, kinda trapped two fuckers in there with an ankle laser”.
One cop mumbling, “ankle laser? What is this? James Bond?”.
Danny snickers, “you wouldn’t believe me if I told you”, then walks over to the lady officer, she looks like she’s in charge here or at least the highest on the peeking order, handing over his FentonWorks id for her to look over and nod at.
She hands it back to him with a, “you Fenton’s are as crazy as I was warned”.
Danny beams happily, “oh this isn’t remotely crazy for me”, glancing around, “actually I think this was the single easiest robbery slash hostage situation I’ve ever been involved with. Glad to see there’s no weird gothic mime clowns or mecha body suits”. Then looking right at the robbers, “by the by? This shit?”, putting a hand to his jumpsuit, “is neck to toe bullet proof and contains well over three hundred different weapons. You were out gunned and out armoured before you even tried. Suck on deez nuts”, and makes a couple of lewd gestures.
Some of the hostages whimper, two laugh, and the other remaining ones just fucking flee. the lady cop eyes Danny, “please try to stick to you own jurisdiction in the future”.
Danny grins giddily before striding back over to where he left his cheques, “now is anyone gonna cash these for me or? They’re not, like, super legal so…”.
One of the two cops that were working on the safe shouting, “are you for real!?!”.
“I verbally and/or visually -take your pick- terrorised some robbers, shot three of them, and held a bunch of cops at bazooka point; questionable money and maybe tax evasion are a moot point at this point”.
A bank teller does actually shakily come over and start doing his cheque for him, “um, uh, thank you?”, her voice is a little squeaky.
Danny gives a little thumbs up, “hey it’s my thing to both disturb and protect the peace, usually from far weirder situations with a lot more collateral damage”. And gives her double-finger guns while the cops finally get the safe open and drag out the two trapped men.
Whelp, this wasn’t his problem anymore and he dealt with what he was required to. Saluting everyone, “whelp, this was fun, thanks for the more mundane combat style break. Got dead people to deal with, if you want to charge me with your therapy bills please don’t, the damages tab is high enough already”, and with that he saunters out.
One of the cops looks to the boss lady cop, “how are we supposed to report this?”.
“Maurice, the second we slap FentonWorks Incident on that report, we could claim we fought the goddamn tooth fairy and the higher-ups wouldn’t question it”.
The other cop just whistles, rather impressed.
---
Danny snags some danishes before flopping down in one of the kitchen chairs, “so guess who shot three people, had a bazooka standoff with the cops, and was in a freaking bank robbery, today?”.
His mom turns away from the stove, she was probably making supper, “are you okay? Didn’t seriously hurt anyone?”. His dad, who’s tinkering with… something, just looks giddy, “that’s my boy”.
Danny snorts, “eh the worst anyone got was maybe a cracked rib, kinda threw a gun kinda hard into his chest”.
Both his parents wincing, his dads the one to ask though, “Fenton kinda hard or normal people kinda hard”.
“Mostly normal”, Danny shrugs, he’s not worried, “and the cops got the guys I sealed in the vault out pretty quick so I doubt they were having issues breathing”, straightening up some, “the deal went fine though, some cash in the account already”.
His dad does a little cheer, while his mom smiles, “that’s good and I’m glad things didn’t get too eventful”.
Danny laughs, “ha! Yeah, someone definitely record some of that shit show though so don’t be too surprised if I’m on the news again”. They shake their heads fondly at that… and yes, Danny was in fact on the news that night from multiple different shaky angles; his outfit definitely was a bit of an eyesore, nice.
End.
Prompt: Danny gets caught in the middle of a bank robbery. Can he diffuse the situation without revealing his powers?

These are mine now (D. Prevc X D. Tande)
Welcome back to another Domiel fic. This time they are in Vikersund. Again, you can read it independently, but it is set in the same universe as Part 1 and Part 2. There is mention of Domens sunglasses. Also, I feel like there is a bit more other people especially Peter. I hope you enjoy it and have a nice day.
Wordcount: 4945
---------------------------------------------------
Vikersund is presenting itself mystical this Friday. With the fog and the snow, it is almost impossible to see up the hill. Nevertheless, Peter and I are standing on the side of the hill. We both have our phones in our hand. Mine is doing a videocall with our other brother, while Pero is calling our mother and Ema. Dad is standing next to us here in Vikersund. He couldn’t resist on coming to Norway and seeing his daughter fly for the first time ever and possibly even seeing her win her first crystal globe. Eva, the jumper in front of Nika, is getting on the bar and I can feel my nerves tensing up. Every jump from one of siblings is nerve-racking to watch. It doesn't matter if it is Peter doing a training jump like he did a million times before, Cene doing his last one ever or Nika doing her first flight. Same goes for Daniel as well. But some jumps are more special to watch then others. Like this one. I can’t believe that my little sister is already ski flying. The same way I can’t really believe that she is leading the women’s world cup and is almost certainly winning it. At just 19. “Domen! You need to put the camera in the direction of the hill.”, Cene is complaining. “Shut up. She isn’t even jumping yet.” Through Peters phone I can hear a small laugh from our mother. She would have loved to be here as well, but Ema still needed to attend school. “But in a minute, she will be.” “If you wanted to you could have been here. You can’t complain when you choose not to come. Twice.” Peter is rolling his eyes at us, but I can see a smirk on his face. I bet he misses the time where we all three were in world cup and I would split my time being annoying between the both of them. Next year I would have to annoy my other teammates since both of them will be gone. “What is twice supposed to mean?” “Boys. Calm down. Nika is next.” When Dad says a word, we all follow. So, Cene and I shut up. I turn my phone in the direction of the hill and then we wait. Snowflakes are falling down the sky and are flying around us while wait for my little sister to finally get closer to the dream of flying.
The jump is good for her first flight. When she lands safely Dad, Peter and I let out a collective breath. “That was alright considering the jury is too careful with them.”, is Cenes judgement with the jump. I agree with him. But the problem honestly runs deeper than just a low gate. Even the fact, that the women had so few large hill comps, contributes to the short flights we witnessed - not just from Nika - but from most of the field. “More than alright. She landed safely.”, says our Mum. I exchange a look with Peter. Hopefully Nika wouldn’t get too nervous now. We both knew how much a first short flight could affect a weekend.
“How was it seeing Nika fly?” Daniel and I are standing in the village in between the cabins. He is in his normal team gear. If the media is asking, he is here to support his teammates.  I am stretching a bit but honestly, we are more talking than that I do a proper warm up. “Nerve racking. The last time I was this nervous seeing someone jump, was your first jump after Planica.” He raises an eyebrow at me. “You never told me it was this stressful for you. Judging on your behaviour this morning it must have been terrifying.” “It wasn’t that bad.” In all honesty, it kind of was that bad. This morning, I constantly checked the weather forecast and the wind. When he came back to the hill it was kind of similar. I even inspected the outrun while he was changing. Danny steps a bit closer to me. I can feel is body heat against me. One tiny step to the left and we would be touching. I look up to him and our eyes meet. “Why did you never tell me that me going back to the hill was so hard for you?” A tiny shrug from my part is enough to get me a caring look form him. “It was about you and not about me. Going back was hard enough for you without being worried about my feelings.” He flexes his hand and I know that he is fighting the urge of touching me right now. We are already standing too close with the cameramen around. Holding hands isn’t possible right now. “We will talk later about it.” “It has been almost three years and now days it´s still nerve racking watching you jump but not terrifying. So, there is nothing to talk about. The better question is if you come to Nikas birthday party tonight?”
Nika got the full jackpot today. 19th birthday and first-time ski flying. Considering she has a competition planed for tomorrow morning, we are keeping it simple. Our father reserved a table in the hotel restaurant we are staying at. Just Dad, Peter, Nika and me. And Daniel if he wants to. Nika asked him in Trondheim to join us. He is a bit hesitant since my dad would be there as well. It is not like that my dad disapproves of Daniel per se. He is more type though-love then welcoming and my boyfriend is absolutely not used to it. Mina also took her time getting on the good side of her father-in-law, so I am hoping that eventually Daniel will be more relaxed around him. “I don’t even have a present for her.” “You don’t have to gift her something. Or we could just say that my present is from the both of us.” Daniel steps a few centimetres away when a few people pass us that we don’t know. Getting the appropriate distance between us. I sigh. I hate this so much. “Okay I will come. But if it is awkward, it is your fault and I expect you to get me out of it.”
I have the honour of the single bedroom this weekend. Normally it would have been Lovro´s turn but it was surprisingly easy to get him to give it to me. Officially it isn’t allowed that Daniel is spending the night here, but nobody is knocking on the door and controlling it, so we do it anyways. Not even Peter is saying anything against it anymore. “Is a simple shirt enough or should I get my nice stuff?”, is Daniel asking when he steps out of the bathroom. His hair is still wet from the shower he just took, and a few drops are falling on his bare chest. I take a moment to admire him and let my eyes wander down his body. He is already wearing his jeans but has still two shirts in his hands. I know him with all my heart, but I love looking at him, nonetheless. “I am wearing a hoodie and training pants.” And not even my own cloth. It didn’t even occur to me to dress nice. Daniel is groaning. “You always wear your team gear. I want to see you dressed nicely again.”
A knock interrupts us and I stand up from the bed where I scrolled a bit on my phone. I give Daniel a small peck on the cheek on my way to the door. “I don’t even have anything else to wear here.” I open the door to my hotel room and Peter is standing in front of it in the open hallway. He is dressed nicely in a button down. “Can I come in?” “Danny, forget everything I just said. Take the nice shirt.”, I scream back at my boyfriend in the room. With that I step aside so that my brother can come into my room. The room is a typical small hotel so there isn’t really any space to hide here. “Hello Daniel.”, my brother greets my boyfriend, who looks a bit puzzled at me. “Can you warn me next time?” Daniel is quickly putting his nice shirt on. A light blue button down which highlights his eyes. Good choice. “Relax. Rember the family holiday last summer? You guys went swimming. It is not that different now.” Swimming is the understatement of the century. They had fierce water polo fights that even were too intense for Cene and me. “Sorry if I interrupted you guys. I was just wondering if you are getting Nika something for Thursday?” My eldest brother is scraping the back of his head and looking down a bit embarrassed. “No. Should I? I probably should.” I turn around to Danny, who is shaking his head at me. “She is winning the world cup. Of course you get her something.” “Did I get you something?”, I question my brother. Pero is shaking his head at me, and I hear a sigh from the Norwegian. That just further proofs his theory that I missed a few important developments in social norms. “But you were 16. I honestly didn’t expect anything. For Nika though, Cene and I thought we could get her something together.” “But you don’t know what to give her?”, I guess. Cene and Peter rely on me for gifts for our sisters most of the time. I spent the most time with them and grew up with them more. “I don’t know. What do you gift someone, who just won the most important title in our sport?” Peter would be the best to answer that question. He already won big. “Maybe something for her cat?”, Daniel is suggesting. Peter shakes his head. “Cene and I already give her a basket full of cat toys for her birthday.” The same present as last year. I don’t know why Mina isn’t helping them come up with better gifts. It is not that hard and that is coming from me.
“What about a few bottles of good wine? It is festive and maybe we can even like personalise the bottles.” Peter raises an eyebrow at me. “Nika barely even drinks. Why would we gift her wine?” I chuckle a bit. Barely even drinks, that is a good one. Daniel, who sits on the bed now, clears his throat and shakes his head a bit. Oh. Nika probably never calls Peter whenever she wants to be picked up from a party at her classmate’s houses. And he probably never gave her an alibi for our parents. It is not like Nika is partying every weekend. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to perform on the level she is. But she is 18, well now 19. You want to spent time with your friends and alcohol is a part of that sometimes. So, from time-to-time Nika asks me if I can pick her up and if she can sleep at my place. I didn’t even think about the fact that Peter and Cene never seen her drink more than a glass wine at Christmas. She never had to call them because I was there. “She is 19, Peter. Do you really thing she never drinks?” “Yes, to be honest.” I sit next to Daniel on our double bed. He lays his hand on my left thigh. It is thoughtless movement, but Peter notices and his expression softens a bit. “Let’s put it that way. If we gift her wine, she will drink it. You know how it is when you are 19. I can remember that you haven’t been that abstinent for your whole life either.” And I know for a fact that he needed to pick up Cene a few times because he couldn’t get home anymore. Funnyly enough, I am the least experienced with alcohol from my brothers. Back then I was always too busy training or traveling. “But Nika is always so responsible.” I raise my shoulders. “She is responsible, Peter. She always gets home safely and as far as I know she never even puked.” Even when one of her friends brings her home, she always sends me a text that she made it home safely. In the future I would have to rely on that. If I am really moving to Norway, like Danny and I talked about, Nika won’t be able to call me when she needs a ride. A wave of nostalgia hits me. Leaving Slovenia wouldn’t be hard regarding ski jumping. It would be hard in relation with my family. Until now it didn’t really hit me that stuff like picking Nika up, wouldn’t be possible from the other side of the continent. Like I knew it but in the time of face time, I thought that I wouldn’t miss that much.
Daniel notices the change in my mood before even I do it. His hand wanders from my thigh to my hand, and he grabs it. A gentle squeeze. I turn my head towards him. My boyfriend is shooting a small smile at me. His eyes say you don’t have to do it. And I know that I don’t have to do it but also want to spend my life with Daniel. Not just see him from time to time when our busy schedules align. I want that seeing him is the first thing in the morning and touching him the last thing before I fall asleep. My brother is still standing in the entrance of the room and is watching our small interaction. “What am I missing?” I exchange a look with Daniel, who nods at me. “It is just that I have been considering moving to Norway. Thinking of Nika and how I can’t pick her up after a party or something, made me realize that I would miss important steps in her life. And not only her life.” Nika and Ema are old enough to communicate regularly through the phone, but my nephews are still too young to do so. I would miss seeing them growing up. “You are thinking about moving to Norway? Since when? We never talked about it before.” Peter is pulling the chair from the desk. Thankfully it is still early in the weekend, and I haven’t put my dirty clothes on it. When he is also sitting and we are face to face, he opens his mouth and closes it again. “Well, we have been thinking about it. There is nothing planed. Also, you are the last one to complain. You told me just two days before the public that you want to retire.” It actually hurt a bit that he didn’t consult me when making the decision. I mean I get it. It is his decision, but I am his brother and we have been doing this sport together since ages. Cene talked with both of us about retiring. How he didn’t feel like he could give 100% anymore day in and day out. He wanted to hear our opinion on it. Pero however, just told me. He sat me down an hour before he told the rest of the team.
Another knock on the door makes us look up. I raise an eyebrow. Who else would come to my room at almost eight? “I´ll go.”, Daniel says before I can stand up. He lets go off my hand but not without squeezing it again. “Moving to Norway is a big step. Have you talked with Robbi about it?” My brother changes the language to Slovene and I sigh. He always does this when Daniel leaves the room and when the Norwegian comes back, he thinks he is a burden because we need to speak in English with him. “No. I haven’t talked with anyone about it apart from Daniel and now you. I would appreciate if this stayed in the room for now.”
Dad collects us and together we go to Nikas room. We sing a short happy birthday for her and then we get to the hotel restaurant. Dad speaks a short toast and then we all sip on our glasses of champagne. “I don’t think, we will jump tomorrow anyway.”, Nika says when Dad asks her if she really wants a glass. Peter, who sits across of me, and I exchange a look and I wink at him. We will definitely gift her wine now. Daniel sits next to me and under the table I put my hand on his knee. He still feels a bit out of place. I can tell by the way he scoops on his chair. My boyfriend always struggles with feeling out of place with my big family. But especially when Cene´s girlfriend and Mina aren’t there. ”The forecast is really bad. I don’t get why they didn’t do a competition today and cancel tomorrow already. Now we will have waiting games.”, I add and take a sip of champagne. Waiting games are always annoying. With ski flying they are also nerve-racking. Nobody wants to fly when the conditions are bad. Not even me. “You will at least get a substitution. I bet with you that if the competition really gets cancelled that we women don’t get a new date.” “I really hope they get a new race director for you guys. The one now is a disaster. It starts why the low gate and ends with the many cancelled competition.”
Cancelled competition is probably phrase of the day. It starts with a cancelled trial round for the girls and then the comp gets completely sacked. Nonetheless we need to get to the hill since the conditions might improve. I have over 200 world cups under my belt, and I know that we won’t jump today. The wind, the snow, everything is against it. But since money and a tournament depend on the competition today, they are not cancelling the race just now. They wait and hope. Even though everyone who knows this hill, sees that nobody will jump today. Not even a brave trial jumper.
My trainer is just finishing his little rundown of things we should do while we wait. A light warm-up, imitations and stretching is all we would do today. He is still optimistic that we would get at least one jump today. Probably to keep the moral up in this tiny cabin next to the hill. The wind is howling outside and is overpowering Rob a few times. “Just try to be ready. If they find a window for the jumps, it can be quite soon and without much warning.”, Rob ends his speech. Lovro and Timi jump up to get outside. They would probably play a few rounds of volleyball. I will join them in a few moments, but I have a thing to do before. Peter is shooting me a funny look when I stay behind. Normally I am the first one out. The small cabins they usually have at a hill, always feel too cramped for me.
I try to look busy with sorting my stuff until everyone except Robert and I left. When Peros closes the door behind him, I stand up from the bench. With a clearing of my throat, I get the attention of my coach. “Can I help you, Domen?”, he asks. I nod slowly. “Actually, you can. If you have five minutes or so for me today, I would really appreciate it.” Today is probably the last good day to have a conversation with my trainer during the season. Tomorrow will be busy since we will most likely get a substitute competition. Then there is the whole craziness of Planica. This year especially with Peter retiring and Nika getting her crystal globe. “Please not you too. I can’t lose all Prevc brothers in a span of two years.” Robert is sitting down on one of the benches and is shaking his head at me. It takes a few seconds till I understand what he means. “Oh gosh no. I am not retiring. You will have to keep up with me for at least another five to ten years. Probably more.” A loud sigh escapes his mouth. The relief is plastered on his face. My opening for this conversation wasn’t the best I assume. “That is good to know. What is it then?” “Daniel and I have been thinking of moving in together. It is time to take the next step. But since we are on different teams, we honestly don’t know how to handle it. Could I just move to Norway and do my day-to-day training there? Or could he do it with us? A fifty-fifty split?” My trainer points on the bench next to him and I sit down. Robert is eyeing me up a bit. “Honestly. I have been waiting for this conversation for two years now because I knew that eventually we would end up here.” A small chuckle comes from me. Of course. Rob is always two steps ahead. Equally in training or in personal matters. “Have you come up with a solution?” My trainer sits up a bit straighter. “If you want to make it work you can. Decide what you guys want to do. I will support you no matter what and we will make it work.” Talking to Robert and Peter makes this whole thing a bit more real. Like we are really doing it. “I´ll let you know if we decide on something.” Rob pats me on the shoulder and smiles at me. “I am really happy for you. That is a big step, and I am so glad that you are finally taking it.”
I am right. The competition on Saturday gets cancelled and now the schedule for Sunday is packed. First the girl’s competition, who sadly but not surprisingly didn’t get another comp, then we will have a go. In the afternoon the weird competition three round format takes places. Today the weather is at least nice. If we have to spend the whole day at the hill, I rather do it with sunshine than snow or rain. “It is so sad that I can’t be at your nationals. I would love to see you jump again.”, I complain while I jog through the forest with Daniel. The Norwegians apparently like torture and put their national championship between Vikersund and Planica. Whoever had the idea for this timeslot, must be unaware of the season plan because in my eyes is it just dumb. Even putting it after Planica would have been more reasonable. “I won’t perform anyways. This season is just not for me.” I roll my eyes while jumping over a small stick. “A bit more optimism, Danny. Otherwise, I will send you to our mental trainer.” At first, I hated mental training, but I have to admit it helped. Daniel tried it as well after Planica but stopped going. “Also, I like watching you jump even if you do it shit.” Daniel shrugs. “Next season will be better hopefully. I am more excited for Planica. The whole weekend will be so emotional. I bet you are gonna cry.” “I won’t cry. It is not like I won’t see Peter again. He is literally my brother.” My boyfriend raises an eyebrow. We are getting closer to the team cabins. The music of the DJ is getting louder, and a few fans are already audible. Soon we would have to behave distant again. Not like a couple, more like friends. If even that. That’s why I stop in the middle of the trail. Daniel comes to a halt a few meters after me.
“Is everything okay?”, he questions. I take a few steps until we are directly in front of each other. Carelessly I sling an arm around his torso and pull him closer. It is cold today. We are both wearing our thick winter jackets from our teams. Even with the two thick layers between us, it is lovely to hold him. Just the sunglasses on Daniels face feel a bit out of place with the beanie on his head. Daniel leans against me and I enjoy the feeling of his body weight against me. “You will cry like a baby, I bet. Rember how much you sobbed when you told me he was retiring.” My boyfriend is smirking at me, and I roll my eyes. “I made my peace with it.” “Did you? Is that the reason why you still change the subject when I want to talk about it?” Daniel is putting a hand on my cheek. His thump is gently stroking my jaw. I lean into the touch. His hand warms my cold face, and a nice heat is spreading through me. “I am currently trying the ignore approach if you must know. I´ll ignore it until the next season when he isn’t there and then I am dealing with it.” I can feel Danny´s eyes on me even with the sunglasses. He leans his head a bit to the right. “If you want to talk about it, you know I am here and I won´t leave your side next weekend if you want to.” The meaning of this words hits me after a few seconds have passed. I open my mouth and close it again. He is ready to go public. If I say yes now, we won’t hide it – us – anymore. I wrap my arms around his neck. “Not next week. Next week is about Nika and Peter. I don’t want to take attention away from them. But after Planica …” I look around. No cameras nearby. I lean forward and give him a short kiss. When we part Daniel takes my hand and squeezes it. An unspoken way of agreement. A bright smile is building on my face. Finally, we would do it.
The ringing of my phone is interrupting us. With a sigh I take the call. Of course it is my older brother. “What?” “I just wanted to let you know that Nika is jumping soon. You wanted to see her?” Is it already this late? Shit. Spending time with Daniel always flies by like nothing. “Alright I´ll be there in a minute. Where are you watching?” My brother gives me his position and then he hangs up. “Nika is jumping soon.”, I explain to my boyfriend. “Then let’s go.”
Dad, Peter, Daniel and I stand on the side of the hill. It is nice that Daniel decided to join us today and not disappear in his team’s cabin. “I should have gotten my glasses as well.”, I complain while holding my hand up to shield my eyes from the bright sun. The reflection of the sun on the white hill makes it almost impossible to look at it. My brother has his ski mask on, and I should have done the same thing. “You are such a baby.”, Daniel says but takes of his glasses and gives them to me. “Now you can’t watch.” “She is your sister.” I know that arguing with him won’t help so I take the glasses. “You know that these are mine now?” A bright grin is building on my lips. Daniel begins to laugh and nods. “I figured, kleptomaniac.”
My jump in the first competition was good. Pretty great even. Good length and with a beautiful telemark. Jumper after jumper is landing behind me and I keep standing in the leader’s box. With Danny´s sunglasses on. He is helping his team with getting the stuff around the mixed zone but here and there he smirks at me. I tap on the glasses whenever he is around. It is pleasant having him with me even if he is not really around. Lovro, who jumped a bit after me, is done changing and is standing next to me now. “Do you think it is enough for a podium?”, he questions. I raise my shoulders. “I hope so.” He pulls out is phone out the pocket and looks at the ticker. Like he always does. I swear he is glued to this thing. “The wind is getting a bit better.” I just nod and look up the hill. “Thank you again for letting me have the single room this weekend. I´ll make it up.” Lovro shakes his head. “All good. I haven’t seen you this relaxed in ages that’s worth sharing a room with your brother this weekend.” I pat him on the shoulder. “I will give you an alibi if you ever want to smuggle someone in.”
After my brother lands behind me in the standing, I know I made it on the podium. Peters is giving me a close hug in the outrun and he grins at me as if he is the one on the podium. The hug is closer then normally. He probably thinks that this could be the last time he ever sees me get on the podium. I shallow hard but don’t let the smile drop. As soon as I step out of the gate, Danny runs into my arms. It is an innocent hug that last a second longer than it should but right now neither of us cares. “I love you. You did so good.”, he whispers in my ears. “I love you more and I am so glad that you are here to celebrate with me.”
And when I step onto the podium, still with his glasses on, I feel happier to be on the podium than I ever did.

Story Start!
Martin was quite helpful in getting Danny set up. Once Jon left the room, his stutter cleared right up. He seemed much more confident as he showed Danny the new filing system and gave him a few boxes to begin organizing and labelling. (So much labelling).
Martin seemed to be right at home as he talked about cataloging and subgroups in ways that made Danny’s head hurt. He instructed Danny how to get into his computer under a guest account and said that he’d likely be put into the system soon. To just save any files he created to the documents folder and they’d sort it later to properly put into the system. Rather typical affair. Danny was to scan any documents he could, but Martin told him not to worry if it didn’t scan properly. And to just continue on. (That caught Danny’s attention. Why would some randomly not scan right?)
Martin didn’t offer an explanation and Danny was so busy trying to keep everything straight that he forgot to ask.
Martin’s advice on the computer was particularly helpful. Not because Danny didn’t know how to use one, but because it had been centuries since he’d used tech like this. But as he stared at the home screen, it came back to him quickly. He only stumbled a few times when there were features he expected to be there but weren’t.
Martin left after the first few documents went on without a hitch and Danny found himself alone surrounded by paper. He got up briefly to close the door.
Well, Danny thought as he reclined in his chair, this certainly wasn’t the worst way to start a new life in a new universe. He wasn’t sleeping on a bench, which was a major plus.
Danny took in his new digs yet again when he was hit by a strange feeling. It was so quiet. Almost too quiet. The silence was… oppressive. There wasn’t even any ringing in his ears. But despite what could be called peace, his heart was beginning to race. What in the world?
Danger.
That’s what he felt. It felt like he was prey, and somewhere in the stark shadows of the corners of the room was something watching him.
Wait, watching?
Danny let out a breath. Of course there was someone watching him. He knew for a fact that Clockwork would be keeping an eye on him. Whatever this manifestation, this feeling was, it was probably just Clockwork. (Or the Eye?)
Danny was almost content with the feeling. It was nice to know he had a friend looking over his shoulder. He wasn’t stranded here, drowning in paperwork. This was temporary. Temporary enough, at least. (He and Clockwork hadn’t really discussed if he would age here, had they?)
Danny wasn’t really missing home yet, but he was beginning to feel a bit drained at meeting new people. And he was already kicking himself for the whole coffee thing. And how in the world had he forgotten what a high-five was? They probably thought he was stupid or something.
Tired of the quiet, Danny searched up a music stream on his computer and left it running. Luckily he had a great distraction from his own self-loathing. He rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
At first he just filed the statements, but after a while he began to get drawn into their stories. Some were utter hogwash, but others shared certain… threads. It was all like one big giant puzzle of web that all connected together. And he was determined to see all of the connections. Danny started a spreadsheet on his computer.

Danny was elbow-deep in yet another statement that mentioned falling and skies when there was a knock on the door. Danny startled, broken from his reverie.
“Come in?” His voice cracked. Oh that was so not cool.
“Hey Danny.” Tim leant casually against the door-frame. (At least, Danny thought his name was Tim. That’s what Jon called him, right?)
“Hi,” Danny greeted. He wondered what he looked like, sitting on the floor surrounded by piles of papers. He’d gotten so caught up in reading them… half of the ones he’d read he hadn’t even properly filed yet.
Tim whistled at seeing the mess.
“Looks like you could use a break. Martin, Sash, and I were talking about going out for lunch. Would you like to tag along?” Tim invited.
Immediately, Danny wanted to turn him down. He didn’t want to take a break. It felt like he was one statement away from a whole bunch of stuff clicking into place.
But then his stomach took the liberty of answering for him. It growled loudly over the quiet music.
Tim laughed brightly. Danny tried to save face.
“As much as I’d love to, I don’t have much money to spend at the moment.”
Tim waved his concerns.
“No worries, I can foot the bill. Think of it as an apology for screaming at you earlier.” Tim scratched the back of his neck. It made Danny think of when he used to have that exact same nervous tick. It looked much more… purposeful on Tim. (It was hard to deny that he was a handsome guy).
“Then I’d love to tag along. Just let me grab my shoes.” Danny carefully extracted himself from the mountain of parchment.
“Meet up in the hall when you’re ready.” Tim shot Danny some finger guns, and then he was gone.
This ought to be fun.
~~~~
Luckily the place the others had chosen was just a short walk away. Danny wasn’t quite ready to deal with public transportation yet.
It would seem the others were regulars at the restaurant they found themselves at. It wasn’t all that busy, luckily. They got to a table pretty fast, and Danny ended up sitting next to Martin, with Tim and Sasha on the other side. Tim didn’t even open the menu.
“Have you been here before?” Asked Sasha politely.
“Nah, I’m… really new to the area.” Danny answered, trying his best to match her casual stone.
“Oh?” Tim raised a brow.
“Where are you from, then?” He cocked his head to the side.
The gears in Danny’s brain whirred to life. He couldn’t really say somewhere in the UK, because his lack of local knowledge would out him. If he said the US how would he explain his accent? He wasn’t familiar with any other countries during this time period.
He came up with half an idea just to actually say something and not just stare open-mouthed at the question.
“I’m from the US, New York. Got my parents’ accent though. I’m not sure where they used to live here before they moved.” Was that too many details? Was he saying too much as to be suspicious? Dammit, he should’ve done some research and set up a real cover.
“I’ve heard of New York. Real busy city, right?” Martin chimed in.
“The city that never sleeps.” Danny replied.
He was saved from any more questions by the waitress showing up to get their drink orders.
Danny, who hadn’t even really looked at the menu despite hiding his face behind it, had to make a snap decision and just went with a soda, which seemed safest. Martin and Sasha ordered quickly but Tim took his time, complimenting the waitress’ earrings. She was flattered and winked at him when she walked away.
Tim would be lucky if he didn’t walk away with her number.
“So, Jon’s birthday is coming up.” Sasha commented as the waitress left.
“Wha- how do you know that?” Martin sputtered.
“It is very hard to hide any paperwork from these watchful eyes.” Sasha tapped a finger on the frame of her glasses. Was she trying to make an allusion, or was that simply a coincidence? Did they know about the Eye?
“Plus, it’s in his password. I helped him reset it last week.”
“Our resident computer whiz!” Tim announced proudly. He held up his glass of water as though to toast but Sasha brushed him off.
“It’s really not that complicated.” She rolled her eyes.
“So are we doing anything for the day?” Asked Martin.
Tim got a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“How about a surprise party.” He suggested. Tim tapped his fingers together, looking very much the image of a cartoon villain. Danny was reminded of Elias and his pencil mustache.
“Jon doesn’t seem much for surprises.” Martin raised a brow.
“Exactly! He’d never see it coming!”
“I know a great cake place nearby.” Sasha schemed darkly.
“What do you think, ‘Happy Birthday, Head Archivist!”
Danny cut in to the conversation.
“What’s that mean- Head Archivist?”
“It’s just a fancy title that says Jon’s our boss.” Tim sounded less than impressed.
“Should’ve been you, Sash.”
Sasha just looked tired, like this was a conversation they’d had before. Martin looked uncomfortable with the topic, if the way he fumbled and dribbled water down his front was any indication. He swiped away the evidence as quickly as he could but Danny saw.
“What’s done is done, and we just have to live with the consequences.”
The conversation ended there for now, as the waitress arrived back at the table. Danny fumbled, realizing he hadn’t actually read the menu yet. He’d been too interested in watching his new colleagues.
He glanced over the menu and ordered the first thing that sounded appetizing and didn’t cost an exorbitant amount. He wasn’t going to take advantage of Tim’s generosity.
Speaking of Tim, he and Sasha seemed quite comfortable together. Good friends, looked like. Martin was the odd one out. He added to the conversation a bit but mostly stayed out of it. He only really seemed to butt in when it was about Jon. Was there something going on there that Danny didn’t know about?
Jon certainly didn’t sound like he thought of Martin very highly, but maybe he just didn’t mean it? Or it might be a kind of friendly teasing Danny wasn’t familiar with.
The waitress left and silence returned to the table.
“Let’s talk about something other than work.” Tim complained.
“What did you have in mind?” Asked Sasha. Tim’s eyes lit up in a way that just said bad news.
“How about the mysterious Danny? There’s still so much we don’t know.” Tim grinned cheekily from across the table.
“What do you want to know?” Danny averted his gaze by taking a sip of his drink. Soda was one thing that hadn’t changed. Surprisingly.
“Ah, maybe… when’s your birthday?” Martin asked. That was easy enough.
“August 15th.” Danny answered simply.
“How old are you?” Asked Sasha.
“19.” They would never believe his real age. That had been his first guess at his own appearance, so it should be fairly believable.
“Awful young for this job, hm?” Tim questioned. He leaned in close like this was an interrogation.
“I suppose so.” Danny looked at Tim with an equal expression of suspicion. It turned into a staring contest.
Tim was the first to relent. He blinked rapidly. His eyes were red. Danny still hadn’t blinked.
“If Elias hired him then surely he must be qualified.” Sasha said like it was a fact.
Danny hadn’t really even thought about ‘qualifications.’ He’d had many hobbies and interests but somehow archiving had never been one of them. That was more Ghostwriter’s shtick. But surely he had to come up with something that’d make him seem at least somewhat competent.
“I think my biggest skill is that I’m a polyglot. Any language you’ve heard of, I can speak it. And probably some you haven’t.” Danny tacked on a laugh at the end to sound more casual.
“Oh really?” Sasha asked like it was a challenge.
“I also do a mean American accent.”
“I can do that too!” Tim explained. He shifted in his seat and a strange expression crossed his face.
“Martin. MaRtin.”
“Wha- why my name?” Martin seemed startled.
“It’s got an ‘r’ in it. Really that’s the only American thing I know how to say.” Tim shrugged nonchalantly. He leaned back in his chair and Danny was half-concerned it was going to fall.
Just then the waitress chose to return, food in hand. The conversation died down a bit as they stuffed their faces. Danny hadn’t realized how empty he’d felt. It might take a bit to get used to these human needs.
Conversation sputtered off as they ate and all-too-soon it was time to head back to the Institute. Or maybe not soon enough. Danny was itching to get back to his spreadsheet and stacks of papers.
“How are you coming along, Danny?” Asked Martin as they walked through the main lobby.
“I’m maybe a bit behind where I want to be, but I should get through two stacks by the end of the day.”
“Oh really?” Asked Martin, and for a second Danny was worried he’d messed up and was way behind.
“I only really expected you to get through one. They can be real troublesome. Sounds like you’re ahead of the game already.” Martin playfully elbowed Danny.
“Sure am.” Danny rubbed his hands together mischievously. Tim laughed.
Soon they said their goodbyes as they went back to work and Danny found his way back to the middle of his paper stacks, reading about being watched and being lost.
~~~~
Jon knocked quietly on Danny’s door. Sasha had been the last to leave, and he made sure she was clear of the building for 15 minutes before going to talk to Danny. Jon hadn’t looked out a window, but he was sure the sun was near set.
“Danny?” Jon asked.
Somewhere he heard a cascade of papers and soon the door swung open. There stood Danny, with tired eyes, no shoes, and a mess of papers all over the floor that he seemed to be trying to hide with his body in the doorway.
“What can I do ya for?” Danny sounded frenzied. He nudged a paper back with his foot.
“Are those… statements?” Jon asked worriedly. He knew Martin had Danny helping file, but that was no reason for his office to be full of them like a- like a hoard!
Danny was quick to reassure.
“Ah, yeah! Sorry for the mess. I got a bit carried away. I promise it’ll all be right as rain tomorrow!”
“...If you say so.” Jon said dubiously. He decided to drop it for the moment. He had more to say.
“Anyway, that wasn’t why I wanted to talk to you. I actually wanted to ask as to why I found you asleep in your office this morning.” Jon looked unimpressed.
Danny’s expression was one of someone who knew they’d been caught. He gaped for a second.
“Well, y’know, I’m new to the city and there was a mix-up, and the current tenants haven’t moved out of my apartment yet and-”
“But you will have a place to stay? That you’ve already arranged?”
“Psh, yeah, sure. Just a mix-up like I said. I promise this is only temporary.”
”I didn’t mean to disturb you.” He added.
Somehow, Jon got the feeling that Danny wasn’t being entirely truthful. But he wasn’t about to push on a slight hunch.
“I wasn’t disturbed. Just concerned. It isn’t proper to sleep in your office.” Jon felt like a bit of a hypocrite knowing full well that’s what he intended to do tonight (he had a lot on his plate, okay?) but it was best not to encourage Danny.
Danny deflated.
“I know. I’m not making a very good impression, am I?”
“...Could be better.” Jon admitted.
“Regardless, I have something for you. Come along to my office.” He waved Danny to follow, and he did. Not before closing the door behind him. Why was he being so secretive? Perhaps he was just embarrassed by the mess.
Jon had done that before, gotten engrossed in his readings. Usually it was with books though, not creepy witness statements of haunted and cursed things. But to each their own.
Jon entered his office and pulled out the cot.
“It’s an extra from an old storage room. At least with this you won’t be sleeping on the floor.”
Danny took it from Jon’s hands. He smiled brightly.
“Thanks Jon. I appreciate it. And I really am sorry,”
“Just let me know when your apartment gets sorted so I can put the cot back in its rightful place.” Jon waved him off.
Danny nodded then headed back to his office, cot in tow. He carried it with one hand like it weighed nothing. He must work out or something.
Jon closed the door and turned to his own mountain of work.
He had a statement to record.

Mickey ‘Fanboy’ Garcia
Played by the wonderful Danny Ramirez [He’s so cute it hurts yall!]
- Okay so first of all, I don’t think the name Mickey suits him at all so Imma say it’s short for Miguel or Michael and the nickname was picked up in high school.  - Based on his helmet, he’s a Star Trek fan and while the HC that Star Trek is the reason Fanboy got is callsign is valid and very logical, I do like Danny’s own interpretation saying that Fanboy is a fan of boybands and probably had a Backstreet Boys mini poster in his locker [There’s the interview with him talking about this but oh gosh when you need it, it always goes missing - if anyone can find it please lemme know and feel free to link it in a reblog!] - In the air, he does get very excited about flying and always looks in awe (Danny played the wide eyed lover of the skies SO WELL) and when I was first watching the film I thought that’s how he got his callsign lmao but I do think his excitement and passion for flying is how Fanboy became cemented as his call sign!
- I can definitely see him becoming interested in flying after seeing the Blue Angels the one time his dad and uncles took him to see a show, that’s when he knew he had to fly.
-This is based on Danny’s actual fear but I think while Fanboy loved flying when he actually started his lessons he realised he was afraid of flights but didn’t want to let his family down so he worked hard for months to get over his fear and then boom baby, Top 12 in the country to come out of Top Gun
- Based on my comments on this post by the amazing Rad aka @rad-topgunn
Tumblr media
- I think Fanboy is PEAK Latino from Florida, he reminds me of one of my really closet friends from there so that’s where my HC mostly stems from. They’re super lovely, great hype people and know how to have a good time and vibe!
- I think he had a pretty big family growing up, I can see him in a family of four siblings with A LOT of cousins. Definitely the second youngest because he’s very carefree but not super careless or acts like a baby as the youngest children usually do. He’s the fun cousin who everyone loves hanging out with and call him up for a good time. I feel like there would be a tradition in the family that for special milestone birthdays you get a plane ride from Cousin Mickey and everyone loves looking forward to that.
- As for his professional relationships, him and Payback go way back. I really love the idea of them being Naval Academy sweethearts. Like they were definitely one of those pairs who met each other and went That’s him!! That’s my person! They weren’t even sure if it was romantic at the time but they just knew they were going to get along great and always want to be in each other’s lives.
- Fanboy seems like the type to fall first and harder but consider: He fell first but Payback fell harder (but more on that in his section). Fanboy had been crushing on him forever and finally Payback picked up on it and asked him out first. Fanboy definitely started to catch more serious feelings about 5 months into dating. It was such a simple moment too: Fanboy was running late for lunch and when he came into the mess hall to join his friends, he already had a tray waiting for him with all his favourite foods and Payback just smiled at him softly before pushing the tray towards him. Then after they were done eating, Fanboy looked up to see Payback holding out a tissue for him to wipe his mouth. It was just a really soft domestic moment that showed Fanboy that this person really care for him, knew him very well and it was becoming second nature for them to anticipate the other’s needs.
- I love the idea of their friendship and bond in the sky becoming especially more strong after getting together. They are just constantly in sync with each other, can finish the others’ sentences and know their next moves. It easily makes them THE BEST team in the sky.

@heclingmuzik // event starter call.
when the snow began to fall, and the landscape turned to blinding white, danny didn't have to think for very long to realize where the mist had led them. a pity, that he didn't have any layers beyond the thin jacket he'd been toting about the island just to have extra pockets. the cold likely wouldn't take long to eat at them both, but there was a fire inside the abandoned ski lodge nearby - it would have almost been inviting without the gleaming instruments of death sprouting from the ground sporadically that immediately cued one in that this place was not what it seemed.
'if you see anyone else besides me, just run.' this was beginning to get tiring, but danny had already realized that if he was forced to play on the other side of the field, then it was better to have someone to work with that was moderately prepared. 'i don't hear anything yet, but...' the quiet that had settled over the area despite the falling snow made him nervous, and danny was not the type of guy who did being nervous. no - there had to be someone watching them already.

Chapter 10 - The Aftermath. Episode 1.
Congo: *I dug my shovel into the dirt, and as I looked up at the sky I let a big deep sigh seep out between my lips. Things hadn't been the same since Evan's parents were here. The first two days since they left, Rose and Lily had stayed, but after Evan's mood dropped further and further down, and no one seemed to be able to cheer him up, the girls and I had agreed it was best they left. Evan wasn't too happy anyway keeping Lily around, after she the following morning of the faithful meeting with his parent, under breakfast had announced that she had had sex with Daniel. We had all been gathered at the breakfast table, Andy, Evan, Rose, Lily and I, and through the front door, Daniel had suddenly came strutting like he was the master of the universe. The big painted smile on his face, had been a sure sign he had had a great night, so when I asked him how come he seemed more cheerful that usual, he had just chuckled and stuffed a waffle in his mouth. Lily then leaned back on her chair, sipped her orange juice, and grinned wide. It didn't take Evan many seconds to catch up on the signals, and as he coughed on his coffee, Lily had gone on to proclaiming loudly: 'So Danny boy, thank you for last night… it was fun!' At that moment Evan turned pale in his face, slammed his fist down in the plate, and as the plate broke, Daniel had turned just as pale in his face as Evan had become. He left without a word, and now 4 days later, Evan and Daniel still hadn't laid eyes on Each other. Daniel came by last night, we had a talk, some alcohol, and a round of rumble in the bedroom, but he left very early in the morning, while he was sure he wouldn't bump into Evan. Lily is a smart girl, and at 34 more than old enough to make her own decisions, but I can't help but at the same time understanding Evan. After all he only wants the best for her. And as much as we all love Daniel, he might not exactly be the best for Lily. At least in Evans mind. Casual sex or not. On a normal day I would talk with him about it, but things hasn't been normal, for a very long time. I threw a few seeds in the hole I had dug, and quickly covered them. It was the last hole for today, and judging by the height of the sun, it was now late afternoon, and it dawned on me I had already spent hours in the garden, planting new seeds for the summer. Raking leaves and weeds. I looked at my dirty hands and let the small shovel fall down in the soft grass, and I quickly followed, sighing relieved as I laid back into the grass, looking up at the sky. The weather had been nice the past 2 weeks, warmer and warmer temperatures. I always loved spring when everything started blooming. The smell of the new leaves on the trees, the grass growing strong and fresh again, then new flowers, butterflies, birds chirping, blue skies. Although my favourite season had always been fall. My thoughts drifted back to the girls again, more specifically Rose this time. On their second day here, Rose had found me in the kitchen. I was cooking dinner. Andy, Evan and Lily was watching movies downstairs. She had been very quiet when she had entered the open kitchen, leaning against the kitchen counter as she looked around the room a bit questioning.*
Rose: Andy says you build this house yourself?
Congo: Yes, a few years back, me and my work crew came to this town, to help with some building projects, this house and the house next door was two out of 4 projects. So when we needed to change city, I naturally looked up this house, and saw it was in the market, and what was even more perfect, the house next door was as well. It was natural for me to consider it for Evan and Daniel. But of course Evan is mostly here, I have asked him to consider moving in with us, and even though he hasn't said yes, he never really leaves any longer. *I smiled at her warmly and nodded at the open bottle of red wine standing next to me* Do you want a glass?
Rose: *She nodded softly and grabbed a wine glass from one of the closets, slowly pouring herself a glass, then filled my glass as well* So he left in the beginning when you came here?
Congo: *I smiled softly and opened the oven to poke the baked potatoes a bit* yes and no. He often left for a few hours per day, to give Andy and I some 'quality time' as he called it. We never really asked him to do so. Except 2 times, one of them being my birthday. My wish was to have the whole morning and day alone with Andy. So he of course listened to my wish. Your brother was always very considerate. Always leaving space for me and Andy to enjoy each other privately. And he still does. Only now he doesn't go home. He stays downstairs most of the time. It's still a situation we all have to get used to. It's not always easy being 3 in a relationship, you can't be too egoistic when you have to share the one you love.
Rose: *She smiled softly and nodded agreeing* I honestly couldn't do something like that. I wouldn't want to share my partner, I'm way too jealous for that. And frankly I thought Evan was as well? I seem to recall he was very jealous with his last girlfriend. But that was of course 6 years ago, I guess he must have changed since then?
Congo: *I chuckled softly* He is doing well, and much better than he did in the beginning. It is a lot harder for him to share, than it is for me to share. And he does get jealous. A lot. But I think he is good at handling it. He tries to not let it show too much.

TORN - HOLIDAY SPECIAL

                              Danny and Raymon’s Story
Daniel Cahill snuggled into his husband, Rayson Cahill's broad chest comfortably as the fire crackled in the hearth in front of them.
He cradled hot cocoa piled with marshmallows in his hands as he watched the steadily falling snow accumulate outside.
They were quiet, simply enjoying each other's presence and watching the Christmas lights twinkle on the twenty foot tall tree.
The Pack House was practically empty save for a few unmated Omegas that chose to stay home and get chores done, as the entire pack had planned a two day ski outing up North.
It was quite the sight watching everyone leave together; with their youngest son, Luna Berlin Cahill being fretted over by his Mate Alpha Oasis Amador, with every step he took and Beta Ortiz trying to unsuccessfully escape their oldest son, Pack Warrior Corey Cahill's clutches.
"How are you feeling, bunny?"
Rayson's chest vibrated against Danny’s back as he spoke in his deep tone, tightening his tree-trunk-like arms around his Mate’s thin waist as if he would disappear into thin air if he didn't hold him tight enough.
Danny tucked his face into Rayson’s neck after taking another sip of hot cocoa, pressing chocolate-scented kisses to the sexy stubble that sat on his chin.
"I feel alright right now, but you know that can change very quickly," Danny mumbled, sighing softly as he set his cocoa to the side to grab his black neck pillow for added comfort, snuggling it close to his chest and inhaling the scent of Rayson that it so generously gave off.
Part of the reason Danny always kept it close was because of that reason alone, it smelled just like his mate and that calmed him when his Mate couldn't always be around.
"Just tell me if you need anything, beautiful. I will get it for you, I don't want you moving around too much," Rayson added, mumbling against Danny’s temple before kissing it softly and shifting him to sit sideways in his lap.
Danny laughed softly at Rayson’s statement, peeking open an eye to look up at his handsome face which shone with adoration as his husband looked back down at him.
Danny knew his eyes held the same expression.
"Ray, I'm not dying. I'm just pregnant because someone decided to keep me up so late that I forgot to take my birth control," Danny sassed playfully, feeling Rayson's hand slip underneath his tiny mate’s knitted sweater and splay out across his very slight baby bump to caress the soft skin.
Danny rested his hand on top of Rayson’s, laid his head on his shoulder and smiled at his affectionate action.
Although Danny never considered having another child after the triplets, after recently discovering he was pregnant he realized that exactly what he needed was someone to look after.
Rayson was absolutely ecstatic at the news but became ridiculously overprotective since then.
Never underestimate an Alpha's protectiveness over their Mate when they are round with his pups.
In the last week of his pregnancy with Berlin, Corey and Tyrus, Danny had to hold Rayson back from killing anyone who even knocked on the door of their bedroom while his Luna was nesting.
Danny was terrified that Rayson’s famous temper would return but every time the tiny man looked his husband in the eyes and kissed his lips, he would simmer down and wrap his arms around him so tightly the father to be thought he would shatter.
‘So, you could only guess his reaction to the announcement of the ski trip.’
Rayson kept spouting nonsense about the possibility of the bus combusting into flames or Danny somehow tripping and falling hard enough to cause a miscarriage again.
Ever since the first one before the triplets, when our beautiful Omega son was born months too early, Rayson was a nervous wreck when it came to letting Danny out of the house when he was pregnant.
People were beginning to suspect that something was going on due to Rayson’s overprotectiveness but the focus of the Pack was on Luna Berlin and his quickly approaching labor date, so Danny knew theyy could get away with a few more weeks without anyone noticing.
"Hmm," Rayson grunted and pulled Danny tighter against him, stubbornly tightening his arms around his husband’s tiny body again.
Dany sighed aloud, shifting his body in his husband lap so that he straddled his thick thighs before cupping his face in his hands to brush their lips together.
"It's okay, I'm going to be fine. I promise. Nothing's going to happen to me," Danny whispered, kissing Rayson’s lips softly in order to seal his words.
Their lips moved in tandem as Danny pressed against Rayson’s giant body, his arms sliding around his Mate’s neck to pull him closer.
Rayson’s tongue probed gently against Danny’s lips, asking for entrance which he immediately granted him as he felt his husband was seeking solstice in their loving action.
After a long moment, they pull back slowly and press their foreheads together, gazing into one another's eyes so deeply Danny could've sworn he saw his Mate’s soul.
"Daniel Cahill, I love you," Rayson began, forever keeping eye contact with Danny as he slipped his warm hands underneath the hem of his tiny Husband’s sweater and whispered quietly against his lips. "You are the reason I get up every morning. You are the reason I have three... well now four, beautiful children to love as well. Without you, I don't know where I'd be."
Danny immediately felt tears build up in his eyes and his lips quiver as he threw himself at Rayson, holding tightly around his neck for support as he began to sob that ‘he loved him just as much’ against his neck.
Danny could've blamed it on the hormones but he knows for a fact that it only had to do with the fact that his love for his mate, his lover, his everything, shook him to his very core.
"Shh, shh. Don't stress yourself out, bunny. It's not good for you or the baby," Rayon whispered against Danny’s hair as he held him, pressing fleeting kisses to his temple.
Danny couldn't do anything but nod and hiccup, biting his bottom lip hard in an attempt to keep the tears in.
However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop the waterfall of happy tears that cascaded down his cheeks.
Rayson seemed to realize this after a short moment and instead of speaking, he simply kissed his Mate’s tears away in the manner he used to when Danny would have frequent panic attacks.
"Ray..." Danny whispered after he managed to get a slight hold on his emotions, taking a deep breath before bringing up the topic that he knew they both dreaded to bring up. "Ray... What if I don't make it?"
Male pregnancies have always held the highest mortality rate, however that rate rises exponentially once an Omega grows older.
Although Danny may not have looked it due to the Werewolf genes which keep one looking young for quite a while, he was much older than someone might expect.
In fact, Daniel Cahill was going into his 50th year pretty soon.
Rayson Cahill sighed, running a hand through his lover’s hair before looking down at him and kissing his lips softly.
"Wherever you go or whatever happens, I will be there. Whether that means following you across the world or into the afterlife, I will do so happily if it means I get to see your gorgeous face every single day," Rayson says, cupping Danny’s cheek gently in his large hand, as if he was the most fragile of objects.
Danny leaned into his husband’s touch, nodding at his words and closing his eyes, savoring the feeling of his rough, masculine palm against his soft cheek.
"Forever?"
"Forever?"

                                     Berlin and Oasis’ Story
Luna Berlin Cahilll sat in a chair by the crackling fireplace in the ski lounge, rubbing his distended belly over his white, fluffy sweater and watching Pack Members fly down the snowy slopes outside of the floor-to-ceiling window.
It was hilarious watching the inexperienced Members of the Pack tumble down the bunny hill or in Beta Ortiz's case, attempt the hardest hill and fall flat on his face.
It was hilarious how he was forced to cling to Warrior Corey Cahill as he effortlessly carried him to the infirmary, spouting nonsense the entire time about how he could "totally nail it" if Corey just let him try it again.
However, Corey wasn't having any of Ortiz's nonsense and simply ignored his incessant nagging.
The ski trip was going so well and as the Luna, Berlin was so glad that everyone was getting along.
He only wished that his parents had come along as well but his Dad hasn't been feeling well lately, so in the proper Rayson Cahill fashion, Berlin’s Papa insisted that his husband stay home to rest.
Berlin came to suspect that it may have all been a ploy for them to have sex all over the empty house.
 ‘But you never know when it comes to those two.’
"Here you go, princess. I put extra marshmallows in it for you."
Berlin smiled brightly at the sound of the voice that he knew he'd always adore, turning his head just in time to meet Oasis' firm lips.
Ever since that day in the Alpha Office, their relationship has been absolutely wonderful.
Not only did Oasis formally apologize to and ask for acceptance from Berlin’s parents but Oasis has also been such a good Papa to their pups.
‘Yes, pups. Plural.’
Berlin went to see Head Pack Nurse Benji just before they left for the ski trip and during the ultrasound he confirmed that he was having twins.
Judging by their size, he also confirmed that they would most likely be identical Alphas and Berlin had ample reason to believe him due to the force they used when they kicked at his ribs.
Sometimes, it was enough to make Berlin cry.
He was due in a little more than a week and Oasis was the most overprotective Papa in the world.
Berlin hadn't even started nesting yet, thank Goddess but Oasis was acting like his Luna was already in labor.
Berlin knew it was largely because of the influence of Oasis’ Wolf York, who Oasis let out every few days to dote over Berlin and his pups but it was still slightly annoying that he insisted on carrying his Mate everywhere.
"Thank you, Osi," Berlin smiled against Oasis’ lips as he handed his tiny Mate the big cup of hot chocolate, careful not to spill any.
Berlin had been deeply craving the sweet beverage, similar to how his Dad said he did when he was pregnant with he and his brothers.
Oasis took a seat next to Berlin and pulled him gently into his side as he sighed aloud, kissing the top of his lover’s head affectionately.
Berlin sipped cautiously at his hot chocolate while snuggling into Oasis’ warm body, smiling as he noticed the drink was the perfect temperature.
"Do you need anything else, kitten?" Oasis asked, gazing down at Berlin while brushing his long blonde hair away from his face.
Berlin shook his head with a smile as he felt his husband’s large hand move to caress his stomach.
Their pups began to stir as they sensed their father's presence and Berlin winced slightly as they kicked at a tender spot on his tummy.
Placing his much smaller hand on top of his Mate’s, Berlin glanced back out of the huge window.
"I love you. And our beautiful pups that we made," Berlin said, blushing at his own words, tucking his head into Oasis' other muscly arm that wrapped around his body so he couldn't see it.
"Oh, you are just too adorable," Oasis chuckled, leaning down to rest his head on top of Berlin’s. "I love you too, baby. And I always will."

                                   Ortiz and Cory’s Story
"I don't even know him. I swear," Beta Ortiz bellowed to the small nurse, ignoring the anger that was evident on Pack Warrior Corey Cahill's face.
 Anyone who didn't know Corey wouldn't be able to tell that he was angry, seeing as to how his emotions barely come through on his face, however, judging by the tensing of his biceps and the slight twitch of his lip, Ortiz would say he was pretty Goddess-damned pissed.
"Um... Sir it's okay if you two are together. I... I'm gay myself," the little nurse blushed at Ortiz’s words as if he was unsure whether he should have divulged that information or not.
Ortiz simply scowled, flopping back on the dingy hospital-like bed and crossing his arms stubbornly.
"I'm not gay. I'm not even into guys. Never have been, never will be," Ortiz growled, staring at the white ceiling while pursing his lips. "Matter of fact, I'm not even hurt. Corey just has some type-a homo-crush on me and when he saw me fall, he got his panties all up in a damn twist."
At that point, Corey was practically fuming in the corner of the room.
Ortiz could see his knuckles going white and his nostrils flare in a predatory manner as the Beta pushed just about every single boundary the Warrior had, which wasn't many.
"S-sir... It is not wise of you to immediately attempt the most difficult slope when you have never skied before," the twink nurse timidly responded, poking and prodding at Ortiz’s legs to test if he have any injuries.
"Shut up," Ortiz yelled suddenly, shaking his head frantically and yanking his legs away from the little twink's surprisingly soft hands. "I'm fine, just leave me the fuck alone."
Ortiz pushed away from the nurse, who’s expression read complete shock at the Beta’s sudden reaction.
At that moment, Corey decided to intervene, pushing away from his spot against the wall to walk over to the nurse.
Placing a hand on his shoulder, Corey glanced down at the smaller male before speaking.
"Please leave. I will calm him and call you back in once I have done so."
The incredibly deep tone of Corey's voice never failed to amaze Ortiz, as it’s bass was practically visible as it moved through the air.
The nurse, seemingly mesmerized by him as well, squeaked and ran out of the room ,probably to find his Mate who just so happened to be the residing Doctor at the ski lodge.
Ortiz froze as soon as the door closed and Corey's eyes met his, biting his lip hard as he surveyed his Mate’s anger levels again.
‘Knuckles still white? Check. Biceps bulging? Check. Lips in a tight line? Check.’
Corey’s definitely got his large form from his Alpha father, as Ortiz felt the Warrior’s dominating aura as he stalked towards him.
In an instant, Ortiz was pinned back against the bed, arms above his head while Corey's large form hovered over him.
The Beta’s eyes widened at his Mate’s close proximity and he felt his Wolf howl happily at the fact that they were so close to one another.
Corey’s sweet breath fanned Ortiz’s face and he almost moaned, feeling himself harden in the lower regions.
"What's up with this act, huh? You act like you want nothing to do with me around others but when it comes down to it you end up keening underneath me. What is it, huh?" Corey growled out harshly, their faces only centimeters apart.
The Warrior’s canines began to extend in a testament to his anger and an involuntary shiver slid down Ortiz’s spine, causing his lips to part and his back to slightly arch up into his Mate’s body.
Although Corey’s display of dominance would usually terrify anyone, Ortiz could only think of how sexy he looked, muscles bulging as he held him down underneath him.
"I don't know, I..." Ortiz started, only to be cut off by a viscous growl.
"Is it because you want this?"
Ortiz gasped aloud as Corey's hands suddenly slipped into the hem of his pants and boxers to yank them down to his ankles.
Before the Beta could comprehend anything, he was thrown into a world of pleasure as his legs were pushed up to his chest to expose his pink, puckered hole to his Beautiful Warrior Mate.
Ortiz felt Corey’s fingers immediately on him, poking and prodding to open him up.
Corey was rough, two fingers entering Ortiz at once without lubrication while his free hand came around to spank his Beta Mate’s bare ass.
"Is it?" Corey grumbled out, fingers moving rapidly and pressing against Ortiz’s prostate head-on.
‘Yes, it's exactly because I want this.’
"Yes Daddy... I want it..." Ortiz breathed out, willing to say anything to keep those glorious, thick fingers right where he wanted them, pressed up nice and snug against his prostate.
Corey had Ortiz exactly where he wanted him and the Head Pack Warrior knew it.
‘No matter what, he always got me to the point of 'submissive homo' whenever he decided to do his little display of dominance. But it didn't matter, everyone experiments now and again... It didn't mean I was gay... Right?’
Ever since they began having sex, Ortiz noticed that Corey would get extra riled up if the Pack Beta threw in a 'Daddy' line every now and then.
As if on cue, Corey reached to the side to grab a small blanket, ripping it down the middle to make a small cloth which he then tied tightly around Ortiz’s wrists and subsequently secured to the headboard of the hospital bed.
Ortiz was almost immobile as Corey yanked off his Mate’s boots to remove his pants and boxers completely.
The outline of Corey’s bulge made Ortiz’s mouth water and judging by the twitch of his Mate’s lips on his otherwise expressionless face, he knew exactly what he was doing to him.
"As punishment, I'm going to fuck you, here and now and you better hope that little nurse doesn't come back in unannounced or else you'll have a lot of explaining to do."
Beta Ortiz just smirked.
"Yes, Daddy."
