My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth was nominated for a few things I think. I enjoyed it a lot and rated it 4.25/5 stars ✨

Coming in Third (Hardwick Hall #1) - Jess Savage. It definitely met my expectations, 4/5 stars ✨

Book #29:
Whit by Cora Rose (Book #1 of the Unexpected series)
Straight boy Caleb is totally intrigued by his mysterious roommate Whit. Whit quiet, uptight, is alway reading, and wears black from head to toe. Does he know how to loosen up and have fun? Caleb plans to figure it out and fall in love while doing so. There’s not much I can say without spoiling it, but this book is definitely worth the read. Be warned though there are trigger warnings for cutting, suicide attempting, and mentions of homophobia.
Overall: ⭐️ 4/5 🌶 4/5

The first book in this series was amazing however.... I was not digging Fin/Landon's relationship.
What I like...
I think Cora Rose (author) is extremely talented at dipicting the differing perceptions of different characters in her stories. In "Until Him" (Book 1 that focuses on Logan/Theo), Logan views the sexual nature of the relationship between his brother (Landon) and their mutual best friend, Finn, as being initiated by Finn.
In book 2 (Always Him, Landon/Finn focus), we learn that its LANDON who is the main driving force of their sexual contact. FURTHERMORE, we learn that Landon SPECIFICALLY does things to Finn in secret in order to make it so he is not seen as the initiate of these interactions.
Its nothing terribly unseemly imo, however, its def dubcon. Lmao Landon even mentions that he likes dubcon and has to explain what it is to Finn (fyi dubcon= dubious consent).

My Thoughts
As with every Heart2Heart Anthology I read, there were some hits, and there were some misses. But overall, we’re gonna keep this review short and sweet.
I loved the concept of this anthology, and each story was interesting, and unique. I loved some more than others, and I’ve definitely added a couple of new authors to my future reading list.
Every time I read one of these anthologies, I wait in impatient anticipation for the next one. And luckily for me, there’s the Paranormal half I get to explore next!

Book #33:
Luke by Cora Rose (Book #4 in the Unexpected series)
This is about Luke (Caleb’s cousin) and Elliott (who we met briefly in book three) and this has to be my favourite out of the series and I adore this series. There is something about the Von Beek boys that just makes you fall in love with them. If you know where I can get one let me know 😂

The Unexpected Series by Cora Rose (Lets talk about it)
Omg this series is AMAZING! OK OK Roses writing style is pretty formulated by now. I (more or less) know what to expect with each book. I am totally ok with this, though, bc Rose is so fucking good at bringing these characters to life on each page.
I really like how the three brothers (Caleb, Sem, and Luke) all have this big friend group thanks (in part) to their partners' acquaintances. Caleb and Whit = Magnus, Magnus is friends with August, Augusts step-brother is Emery, Emerys bestie is Lex, August has a crush on Colin (who he met in yoga class), and Lex is friends with Diablo.
It is a pretty damn cool way to tell a story. I am actually really impressed at how the author has accomplished this whole series. I will totally read more from them, tho idk if I will do so right away bc their writing is really formulated, and it mayyyy be too much if it persists in a different series.
Love this series.
