Today in thoughts that would make C. S. Lewis roll in his grave: watching HRT take effect, especially when I touch my skin (especially especially after shaving), feels like how Eustace must have felt when Aslan peeled off all that scaly dragon skin to restore his true form. Come to think of it, a constrictingly tight metal bracelet makes an apt metaphor for the low-intensity gnawing dysphoria that became the background radiation of my life from adolescence onward.

This morning in the shower, for no reason, I was thinking about C.S. Lewis' line introducing Eustace. And it was driving my crazy bc the line is perfect. It's mean and funny and pithy as fuck.

But I couldn't remember hia full name. Like I was standing there washing my hair wanting to say this line to the cosmos and knowing I couldnt. And goddess love technology for letting me quick Google it so I could say it in the shower (I was done, drying off and stuck my head back in there to say it out loud) instead of scampering downstairs to find my big collection book (I want the 1970s single books but I think my mom would fight me if I tried to take them) to double check. Butt ass naked, digging through my kid novel collection. But here's the Line. I think yall should go into a bathroom, pretend to be Lewis and say it.
