Emma Danvers awoke blinking at the morning sunshine hitting her face. ‘Why didn’t I close those?’ Emma frustratedly thinks, but her attention is diverted away when she sees Lena asleep next to her.

“Hi.” Lena says softly.

“Hi.” Emma leans forward and kisses her girlfriend softly. But before Emma can deepen the kiss Lena’s phone goes off in the living area. “Noooo.” Emma whines and she pouts when Lena gracefully slides out of bed to get her phone.

Huffing Emma rolls out of bed and finds her own phone on the coffee table before heading into the bathroom. She frowns when there’s no messages from her sisters. After finishing her business she washes her hands and sends out a quick message.

Emma: Ggooooodd Mmoorrnniinngg!! Hope you had a great night's sleep! What are the plans for later? Do you want to meet here and we can decide where to eat?

Leaving the bathroom she goes to find Lena who's back in her bedroom and changing quickly into spare clothes she has at Emma’s.

“Lee?”

“I overslept!” Lena pushes past Emma to use the bathroom. “This meeting has been scheduled for over a year and I didn’t set an alarm!”

“Well, I’m sure they’ll wait?” Emma puts on a hoodie and shorts before leaning against the door frame as Lena gets herself ready. Emma notices how Lena’s jaw clenches in annoyance.

In Emma’s defense she had tried to cut the mind blowing sex short early this morning, to allow Lena more sleep. But the raven haired beauty wasn’t having any of it. Knowing Emma will be leaving soon, she didn’t want to waste anymore time as she settled between the blonde’s legs.

“Jess is stalling them.” Lena walks past Emma again, reaching out and taking her hand. Emma follows her into her living area.

“Well… That’s good.” Emma sighs when Lena lets her hand go to gather her stuff. “So I have no chance in persuading you to come back to bed?”

Lena stops and looks at her. Emma can tell she is debating with herself on what to do or say. Her girlfriend walks over to her and presses into her. Wrapping her hands behind Emma’s neck.

Emma can’t help but use her puppy dog eyes and a deep pout.

“Oh no love! Don’t give me that look.” Lena can’t help but smile at her adorable girlfriend. She gently kisses Emma. “I wish I didn’t need to go in too.” Lena rests her forehead on Emma’s. They stay like this for a few seconds before Lena breaks the hug to go and grab her coat.

“It’s okay.” Emma sighs. “I’m seeing Kara and Alex for lunch anyway. Though they haven’t messaged me where we’re going.” Emma looks at her phone, noticing there’s no read receipts on the message she sent. Emma frowns, knowing Alex and Kara would be awake by now.

“Everything okay?” Lena asks, noticing Emma’s frown while putting on her coat.

“Yea. Just Kara and Alex normally respond quickly.”

“Maybe there’s been an incident?” Lena asks helpfully.

Emma bites her lip with worry before looking at her girlfriend. “Yea, you’re probably right.”

“I generally am.” Lena smirks at Emma and leans in for another kiss. She moans when Emma deepens it but pulls back. “I’m sorry love but I got to go. My driver is here.” Lena picks up her bag and starts heading to the door.

“Okay, hope it goes well.” Emma follows her, sighing sadly at Lena leaving.

“Thank you.” Lena opens Emma’s apartment door and races out. “Message me when you know your plans!” She calls back and Emma rolls her eyes as she watches Lena rush down the corridor to the elevator.

“Love you!” Emma yells as Lena disappears into the elevator.

“Love you too!” Emma hears before the doors close.

Shaking her head Emma closes the apartment door behind her. She looks at her phone again and can’t help the pang of worry when her sisters still haven’t responded. Emma quickly goes to the tv and flicks through the news channels. No incident has happened where Supergirl has appeared. Everything looks quiet and calm.

‘Wonder how long that will last?’ Emma thinks sarcastically as she turns the tv off. Heading into the bathroom Emma strips and has a shower. A bit of arousal hits Emma when she realises Lena has gone to work without cleaning up their love making from a few hours ago. She smirks but still feels a bit guilty that she didn’t think to set up an alarm. They had just been too busy to think about it.

Emma starts humming a tune as she washes herself. Remembering how beautiful Lena looked as she slept. How her hair was illuminated by sunlight coming through the window. Emma keeps humming as she dries herself and puts on her favourite pair of blue skinny jeans, a white tank top and her layered necklace. She looks at the necklace in the mirror as she dries her hair.

How the three charms represent her sisters and Emma. Alex was the star, Kara the Sun and Emma the swan. It wasn’t a mistake that Emma chose light sources for both her sisters. That no matter how dark things got she knew her sisters would be there for her. Like the stars in the night sky and the promise of the sun rise.

Emma walks into her kitchen to grab a bottle of water. She looks at her phone again and sighs when there's still no response from Kara or Alex. Emma debates about sending another message. But instead places her phone on the kitchen island before sipping her water.

Unable to get the tune out of her head Emma grabs her notebook from her backpack and goes over to her upright wooden piano. She plays out the melody she’s hearing and starts softly singing lyrics that come to her. She tilts her head as she’s trying to figure out what she’s wanting to say. After a successful attempt she grabs her notebook to write the lyrics in. Her eyes squint and her tongue comes out to the side as she concentrates.

Emma gets so lost in what she is doing that she doesn’t realise a few hours have passed. Or the sound of her apartment door opening. Only when the floorboards creak does Emma register she isn’t alone.

“Crap!” Emma jumps and quickly looks to the noise, holding a hand to her chest. “Kara! Alex! Did you really need to be ninja’s or something?” Emma laughs but her smile fades when she sees the expression of pure hatred on both her sister’s faces. “Guys? Are you okay?”

“No.” Alex’s voice comes out cold, immediately sending warning bells into Emma’s mind.

“But we will be.” Kara says with an equally chilling voice.

For a split second Emma sees a glimmer of red in both their eyes before it disappears. Her blood freezes and she slowly stands. Backing away from her sisters. She’s seen what Kara did when she was on Red Kryptonite. But Alex too?

Her phone pings nearby. Dread fills Emma as she realises she doesn’t have it on her to call for help. She spots it on the kitchen island. On the other side of the apartment.

Emma feels her breathing getting shallow when Kara and Alex start stalking towards her. Quickly she looks for a possible escape route, anything, but there’s nothing.

Suddenly Emma’s head slams against the full length window behind her, making the glass crack dangerously. Emma sees stars. She gasps when her airway is cut off by Kara’s tightening grip and she’s lifted high into the air.

“Kar-” Emma fruitlessly claws at her sister’s arm and tries to kick at her stomach. Anything to lessen the pressure around her throat.

Kara laughs harshly at Emma's attempts. “Pathetic.”

“Kara.” Alex’s voice calls out. Emma’s eyes shift to her eldest sister as she chokes for breath. Kara turns her head to look at the redhead. “Let her go.”

Immediately Emma drops to the floor and tries to pull air back into her lungs. Coughing hard she rubs her neck and shuffles away from Kara. Trying to get to her phone. Kara watches her with a cold amusement but stays where she is.

When Emma gets closer to the island she clambers to her feet and sprints towards it. But a blur passes her and suddenly Kara has her phone with a cold, cocky grin on her face.

“Looking for this?” The once bubbly voice of her sister asks harshly. All Emma could do was watch as Kara crushes the phone between her fingers, before slamming it to the floor.

In a panic Emma runs for the door but she collides with Alex who she hadn't seen move around her to block her escape.

“A-Alex.” Emma tries to keep her voice strong but her fear betrays her. Alex tilts her head at her before moving forward. Causing Emma to take a step back, away from the apartment door.

“A-Alex.” Her sister mimics. “You are so pathetic! It’s a wonder you have fans at all. If they saw the real you they would abandon you in an instant. You are weak. You are nothing.”

Emma’s heart drops as Alex speaks out her insecurities. She tries to lunge past Alex to get to the door. But Kara grabs her waist and flings Emma across the room, causing her body to slam hard against the wall by her bedroom door. She slides down the surface, revealing a deep indent in the plaster and exposing the brick.

Emma groans. She feels something wet slide down her face. Slowly she raises her hand to it. Emma pulls her hand away and sees blood. Her stomach jolts at the sight. She hates blood.

Movement makes her head snap up at her approaching sisters. Panicking she stumbles into her room and slams the door shut, locking it with trembling fingers. ‘Get to the fire escape.’ Emma pleads with herself. But her body feels like lead. Like she’s in a nightmare and her body moves in slow motion while everything else speeds up.

She hears her sisters trying to get in. Which causes her heart to thump even more.

Finally Emma reaches the balcony door, but just as she starts to unlatch it her bedroom door is broken down. Instantly a hand painfully grabs her shoulder before swinging her around and throwing her on the bed.

Alex snarls at her and straddles her stomach, the red glimmer in her eyes appears again. “Alex, please.” Emma begs.

Alex punches her hard, forcing Emma’s face to the side. “I don’t even know why I bother with you!” Alex hisses as she punches Emma again and again. The blonde yells out in pain and already feels her face starting to swell. “You are so weak!” Alex roars, punching Emma with each new sentence. “You think you’re so much better than us?! Our jobs are so much more important than yours! We save people’s lives and all you do is jump around on stage! Making yourself look like a fool! So pathetic! I wish you’d never been born!”

Emma is suddenly shoved to the floor and she yelps in surprise. She tries to scramble from her sister but Alex stands over her and grabs her left arm. Stepping over the blonde she forces Emma’s arm back against her leg as hard as she can. Emma screams loudly as a shooting pain rips through her left shoulder.

“Alex stop!” Emma wails in agony.

“Shut up!” Alex yells, kicking Emma repeatedly in the stomach, knocking the wind out of her. “You. Are. So. Selfish! Where. Are. You. When. I. Need. You?”

“Alex.” Kara places a hand on the redhead's shoulder. Alex looks up at her and nods while breathing heavily.

Emma uses this pause to try and crawl away from her sisters. But her movements are clumsy and slow. She gasps in the blinding pain surging through her body.

“Where do you think you're going?” Kara says threateningly as she stalks after her. Eyes glowing red for a second.

Emma knows it’s useless but she keeps going towards the bedroom door. The adrenaline pumping through her system keeps her moving despite the pain.

“I said!” Kara growls as she lifts Emma up by her tank top. Almost ripping it in her grip. “Where do you think you're going?” Kara throws her into the piano causing it to break and crack from the force. Emma gasps out in pain and feels the ribs on her right side break from the impact. She crashes heavily to the floor. Instantly Alex is by her side and grabs onto Emma’s hair pulling her to her feet. She pushes Emma against the broken piano.

“Alex, Kara, please- this isn’t you.” Emma wheezes and coughs out. A metallic taste entering her mouth.

“Have you thought that maybe this is us?” Kara’s strides towards her sister. “You are such a waste of space Emma. You honestly believe you're talented? I feel sorry for you really.”

“Especially your relationship with Lena.” Alex joins in, staring cruelly at her baby sister. “Soon she’s going to see the real you and dump you. I am surprised she hasn’t done it already. She is a genius after all.”

Emma can’t help but show a bit of pain at her sister’s words. She sees the sick triumph in their eyes before Emma clenches her jaw.

“Aww did we hurt the little baby with the truth?” Kara says condescendingly.

“These aren’t the truth and you know it.” Emma wheezes back. Finding it harder to stand.

“Oh but they are. Why Kara and I were just saying how easy it would be if you weren’t our sister. How tired we are of having to watch over you, weak, little baby.”

“I am not weak.” Emma grits out, her fists clenching automatically.

Kara leans right into Emma “Oh but you are.”

Suddenly Kara grabs Emma’s throat again and lifts her high into the air.

“You see Emma all I need to do is slightly tighten my hand and you’d be dead.”

Emma waits for that moment. Her full focus on her sisters. Until she’s thrown across the room and hits the kitchen island. Denting the surface from the impact.

“I… do.” Emma somehow manages to wheeze out.

A punch like a jack hammer hits Emma in the face. She hears her cheek crack and the pain causes her eyes to water even more.

“How bout now?” Kara asks wickedly. Before Emma can respond she is punched the other side of her face by Alex.

“Now?” Alex snarls. Emma nods despite the pain causing Alex to rip the necklace off of Emma. Kara grabs it in her other hand and looks at it.

“This thing is so stupid.” Kara clenches her fist and the necklace disintegrates in her fingers. Emma watches with tears streaming down her face.

“Do you still love us?” Alex tilts her head at the blonde.

Emma nods causing Kara to growl and punch her sister hard in the stomach. “How about now?” Kara’s voice was low and dangerous.

Emma coughs and feels a wet, thick liquid erupt from her mouth. It lands on Kara’s arm who looks at it in disgust.

“Revolting.” Kara pulls Emma’s broken face close to her. “And I don’t love you.”

“I don’t love you either.” Alex snarls at Emma.

Suddenly Emma is thrown to the floor. The floorboards crack and snap around her. Leaving a crater from the impact. Emma wheezes and coughs for breath. ‘I’m going to die.’ She thinks as she closes her eyes. Tears roll down her cheeks.

But Emma’s eyes fly open when two hands wrap around her neck. Kara and Alex are glaring down at her with such hate as their eyes glimmer red. Their hands tighten like a vice and Emma gasps for air. • Richard Cresswell (Australian RAAF Pilot)

Richard (Dick) Cresswell, DFC was an officer and pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). He held command of No. 77 (Fighter) Squadron twice during World War II, and again during the Korean War.

Richard Cresswell was born in Franklin, near Launceston, Tasmania, on July 27th, 1920. He was the only child of English immigrants George Cresswell, an engineer, and his wife Constance. His father died when Dick was three-and-a-half, and he later moved to Sydney with his mother. For three years he lived with another family in Balgowlah, and commenced his schooling at Manly West. He again lived with his mother in Potts Point between 1931 and 1938, continuing his education at Double Bay and Randwick. After leaving Randwick High School in 1935, he began technical studies at Ultimo as part of an electrical apprenticeship. Fired partly by his mother's stories of joy flights in pre-war Britain, and a desire to become a flying boat captain for Imperial Airways, Cresswell applied to join the Royal Air Force (RAF) in September 1937. Receiving no answer from the RAF, he applied for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), and was accepted. He entered No. 1 Flying Training School at Point Cook, Victoria, as an air cadet in July 1938. His first posting was to No. 3 (Army Cooperation) Squadron at Richmond, New South Wales, where he began flying Hawker Demon fighters in July 1939. Cresswell recalled a mix of excitement and panic within the squadron when World War II broke out two months later: "The second night we all slept on the hangar floor next to our aircraft. Imagine it: there was war over in Europe and here we were at action stations!"

After a brief posting to Point Cook in early 1940, Cresswell undertook the instructors' course at Central Flying School in Camden, New South Wales. He then became an instructor at No. 2 Service Flying Training School, which was formed at Wagga Wagga in July and operated Avro Ansons and CAC Wirraways. The school's commander, Frederick Scherger, advised Cresswell to grow a moustache to overcome his youthful appearance. He was promoted to flight lieutenant in January 1941. Following the bombing of Darwin by Japanese forces in February 1942, Cresswell was posted to Williamtown as a liaison officer with the 9th Squadron of the US 49th Pursuit Group (later the 49th Fighter Group), which operated P-40 Kittyhawks and would shortly transfer to Darwin to provide air defence. The RAAF had meanwhile raised three fighter units. Nos. 75, 76 and 77 Squadrons ,equipped with Kittyhawks recently delivered from the United States. Cresswell, newly promoted to squadron leader, assumed command of No. 77 Squadron at Pearce, Western Australia, on April 20th. At twenty-one, he was younger than most of his personnel. Drawing on his technical experience at Westinghouse, he encouraged his pilots to respect their aircraft and the ground crews that maintained them.

Cresswell led the squadron in the defence of Darwin against Japanese raiders and claimed its first aerial victory on November 23rd,1942, when he destroyed a Mitsubishi "Betty" bomber. It was the first "kill" for an Australian squadron over the mainland, and the first night victory over Australia. When he returned to base and was asked what he felt like, Cresswell replied, "Breakfast". In February 1943, after No. 1 (Fighter) Wing and its three Supermarine Spitfire squadrons became operational in the Darwin area, No. 77 Squadron was transferred to Milne Bay in New Guinea. The Japanese attacked Milne Bay on April 14th, and Cresswell claimed one of four bombers (and a fighter) credited to No. 77 Squadron. The next month, No. 77 Squadron began moving to Goodenough Island, where it was controlled by No. 73 Wing. As Japanese fighter opposition was limited, Cresswell led the squadron in several ground-attack missions over New Britain. He was due to hand over command to his designated successor, Flight Lieutenant Daryl Sproule, on August 2nd, but Sproule crash-landed during a raid the same day and was captured and executed by the Japanese. As a result, Cresswell remained in command another three weeks.

On August 28th, 1943, Cresswell was ordered to report to Port Pirie, South Australia, for "flying duties", but found instead that he was to be court-martialled for "conduct to the prejudice of good order and Air Force discipline". The charge arose from an incident in July 1942, when Cresswell had stayed overnight at Port Pirie's mess and had fired his revolver into the floor next to the feet of another officer who apparently had been annoying him. Cresswell was found guilty and lost three months' seniority. He considered resigning his commission but was placated by the Air Member for Personnel, Air Commodore Frank Lukis. Cresswell was promoted to wing commander in January 1944, backdated three months to eliminate the penalty of his court-martial. After instructing at No. 2 Operational Training Unit in Mildura, Victoria, Cresswell was appointed wing leader of No. 1 Wing on February 25th, 1944, at the specific request of its commander, Group Captain Peter Jeffery, to help reduce Spitfire accident rates. Cresswell left on May 12th to become wing leader and temporary commander of No. 81 (Fighter) Wing in Townsville, Queensland. Comprising three Kittyhawk squadrons, including No. 77, the wing transferred to Noemfoor in western New Guinea as part of No. 10 Operational Group. Cresswell arrived at Noemfoor on September 26th, 1944 to be informed by No. 81 Wing's new commander, Group Captain Gordon Steege, that he did not need a wing leader. Instead, Steege assigned Cresswell to command No. 77 Squadron, for the second time during the war. Cresswell questioned the decision through official channels, with the result that he retained the position of wing leader, as well as the command of No. 77 Squadron. The wing flew 1,125 sorties against Japanese buildings, stores and transport in October and November, dropping over 400,000 pounds (180,000 kg) of bombs for the loss of fifteen aircraft and eleven pilots.

The following month, Group Captain Wilfred Arthur replaced Steege as commander of No. 81 Wing, and Cresswell handed over command of No. 77 Squadron, while continuing to serve as wing leader. Arthur recommended Cresswell for a Distinguished Flying Cross. By the wars end Cresswell was on the twelve-week War Staff Course at the RAAF Staff School in Mount Martha, Victoria, when hostilities ended in the Pacific; the course finished on September 28th, 1945. He was then tasked with developing a P-51 Mustang conversion course, to train pilots for service with No. 81 Wing, comprising three Mustang squadrons, including No. 77, as part of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force in Japan. Cresswell served initially as the CCU's chief instructor, and then as commanding officer from March 29th, 1947. At the same time, he took command of the Williamtown base, as well as No. 78 (Fighter) Wing, which controlled two Mustang squadrons and several ancillary units, but Cresswell remained in command of Williamtown and No. 78 Wing until March 1948.

After a posting to Amberley, Queensland, Cresswell served on the directing staff of the first two courses held at the newly formed RAAF Staff College, Point Cook. On July 10th, 1950, he was appointed commanding officer of No. 21 (City of Melbourne) Squadron, a Citizen Air Force unit based at Laverton and equipped with Mustangs crewed by reserve pilots. Cresswell was unimpressed by what he saw as the casual attitude displayed by his part-time pilots and soon had them practising appropriate fighter tactics. When the Korean War broke out on June 25th, 1950, No. 77 Squadron was the only remaining RAAF unit of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force (BCOF) in Japan. Cresswell was despatched to replace the squadrons commanding officer in September. Cresswell thus became the only officer to lead the same RAAF squadron on three occasions during wartime. In an unusual move, the RAAF did not raise him to wing commander; he became No. 77 Squadron's longest-serving commanding officer of the Korean War, but also the only one ranked squadron leader. On April 20th 1951, the Americans awarded Cresswell the Air Medal for "meritorious service" and the Distinguished Flying Cross for "superior flying ability and extraordinary achievement". He was recommended for the Commonwealth Distinguished Flying Cross for "leadership of high order" on October 23rd, 1951; the award was promulgated on January 8th, 1952. Upon returning to Australia, Cresswell was promoted to wing commander and appointed Fighter Staff Member at the RAAF Directorate of Operations. In late 1952 he was "dared" to fly from the Royal Australian Navy aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney, and did so in a Hawker Sea Fury after completing conversion. After the Korean War ended Cresswell continued to serve as a fighter instructor. On December 3rd, 1954, Cresswell led a formation of twelve No. 2 OTU Vampires in the shape of two sevens over Sydney to greet No. 77 Squadron upon its return from Korea aboard the aircraft carrier HMAS Vengeance. Cresswell was posted to RAAF Headquarters, Melbourne, as Director of Air Staff Policy. The position put him in line for promotion to group captain but, as he admitted later, "I had itchy feet and I felt the Service had already given me all the operational flying I was likely to get." He decided to resign his commission in December 1956, and was discharged from the RAAF in April 1957.

In June 1957, Cresswell became regional manager of a Melbourne firm salvaging metal from the battlefields of New Guinea, but the company wound up its operations in Australasia barely a month later. Cresswell flew Noorduyn Norseman and Junkers Ju 52 aircraft out of Goroka until October 1958, when he was hospitalised with hepatitis. He attempted to rejoin the RAAF the following year but was found to be suffering from malaria and dengue fever, as well as the after-effects of hepatitis. In October 1959, he joined de Havilland Australia to fly DHC-2 Beavers in Antarctica. Cresswell's first marriage had failed after his return from the Korean War in 1951. He married Margaret Schwennesen, a pilot, on December 23rd,1959, he had two daughters. Cresswell began flying in Antarctica in January 1960, mapping sections of the continent claimed by Australia. De Havilland then assigned Cresswell to fly personnel and equipment for Australian Blue Metal in northern and central Australia. Between November 1960 and March 1961 he was involved in another Antarctic expedition, but in the end did little flying. De Havilland subsequently appointed Cresswell its sales representative in Canberra; in this capacity he travelled abroad and on one occasion flew the DHC-4 Caribou. After a series of minor heart attacks and two bypass operations, Cresswell resigned from de Havilland late in 1974 to live in South-East Queensland; his family elected to remain in Canberra. Cresswell continued his interest in military aviation, maintaining his RAAF connections, and patronising the Australian War Memorial (AWM) and the No. 77 Squadron Association. After divorcing Margaret, he married a third time in 1979 but his new wife died two years later, and he returned to Canberra in the mid-1980s at the urging of his daughters. In 1992 he led members of No. 77 Squadron in a march through the streets of Perth, which had granted the unit freedom of entry in recognition of its role in the city's defence fifty years earlier. Cresswell died in Canberra of a heart attack on December 13th, 2006, aged eighty-six, and was survived by his second wife Margaret and their two daughters. His funeral was held at the Royal Military College, Duntroon, which was overflown by four F/A-18 Hornet jet fighters from No. 77 Squadron in a "missing man" formation.

The Meeting

I had just crossed the finish line of the Mini Marathon. I was glad that I had flown out from South Dakota. Indianapolis wasn’t my last stop on my trip. I was going to Jersey, the Island dependency of the UK. I was going to run in the Durrell Challenge. It’s a 13k, not as long as the Half Marathon I’d just run, but between the two races, I would be short 6 miles of running a full Marathon.

So after my shower, I checked out and called my Uber. I was on my way to the Indianapolis International Airport. I had my compression sleeves and socks. They were helping with the recovery by opening the circulation and getting the acid that comes with running 13.1 miles to go down.

My flight will get to London by way of a layover in New York. In London, I will need to take a taxi to the Ferry where I get on and go across the Channel to the Island. Then another Taxi to the Hotel. But fate had other plans.

I hate flying. When I say that I mean I haven’t flown in a plane since 1992 when I got out of the Army. I had to fly from Seoul, South Korea to San Francisco to my home town of Rapid City, South Dakota. I was also four months pregnant at the time. I’m also superstitious. If I have heard of a third plane crash, I’m not getting on the plane. I’m convinced death comes in threes. I’m going to be on that third plane when it goes down. I know its stupid Lol....

But to say I’m looking forward to this layover is an understatement. I booked myself a first-class ticket on British Airway A380. You get a Massage (and after the Half Marathon, this is much needed), Spa and British Airways own skincare used on you. Full wait service and a full meal with wine pairing. Bed service (hopefully they can wake me up).

I was looking at my phone, not paying attention, reading comments on my Social Media from my Back On My Feet Family when I tripped over my own two feet. When I looked over, I was staring at Kal Cavill, the scuba diving, feline chasing big bear and jungle pig himself. He was looking at me wondering what this human was doing on the floor at his level. He looked up at his Adonis and Hercules's looking owner, Henry, a question on his face (She’s one you)

Looking down and trying not to laugh, “Are you okay?”

“ Yeah, I do this all the time.” This was not how I wanted to get Henry’s attention but since I had it. I was going to with the flow of the moment.

“Thanks for checking. The last time I did something like this I broke my wrist. I was also 10 and I was playing soccer at the time. I mean Football that is what you call it in England right?”

“I’m impressed That you know that. I’m Henry Cavill.”

“I’m Leah and I know who are. I’ve been watching your career since you starred in The Tudors. I’ve seen most of your movies correction I own most of your movies.”

“Impressive. Which ones haven’t you seen, and why haven't you seen them?”

“That would be Hellraiser: Hellworld and Bloodcreek. Horror and I just don’t get along it’s my thing.”

“Would you like to join me? I was just about to eat a light meal and read my script.”

“I would love to, but I know that you don’t get a lot of time to yourself because of fans like myself. I don’t want to interrupt you or anything.”

“It’s because of my fans that I’m where I’m at. Besides, I asked you. It’s not like you fell on purpose. Or did you?”

“I will never tell..lol but no I didn't I was looking at my phone. (yawning) If I fall asleep will you wake me up? That massage really got me to relax.”

“Now I’m your alarm clock and you haven't even answered my question!”

“Oh My GOD! How did I forget that? I blame it on your handsomeness. Yes, I would love to join you.”

“Why are flying to England?”

“To meet you.”

“Let me explain. I’m running in the Durrell Challenge. I signed up as a VIP. I raised enough funds to get to have breakfast with you and get the photo op.”

“You just run a Half Marathon and next week you’re going to run a 13k?”

“Insane? I have my moments where I don’t think everything through. I figured this was the only way to meet and get a photo with you.”

“Why not go to Comic-Con?”

“That’s a lottery draw. I’m not guaranteed a ticket. This way I get to help endangered animals and run and meet you.”

“Why a week early? Why not fly out Thursday?”

“I want to acclimate to the weather. I want to see the Hills that some people have told me is killer.”

“You’re going to do some training before the race?”

“Yeah, just to familiarize myself with the course since you or Charlie wouldn't answer my question on Instagram. I had to fly out early.”

Later…

“Thank You for inviting me to join you for dinner, Mr. Cavill.”

“Leah, I told you, it’s Henry.”

“ I really can’t call you by your name.”

“We just spent an hour having dinner together. You can call by my name. I insist.”

“I enjoyed it. Is it alright if I pet King Kal?”

“Yes. He enjoys a head scratch now and then.”

“I’ll see you on the plane. Hopefully”

I move to gather up my stuff, making sure I have everything as I was getting tired from the days earlier race. 

Henry could tell something was amiss. 

“Leah, what’s wrong ?” 

“I’m just tired from the race. My anxiety about flying is going into hyperdrive. I'm not big on flying. In fact, I haven’t flown since I was in the Army back in 1992.”

“You were in the Service?” 

“Don’t look so surprised. I mean, I know I don't look like Gal Gadot, but I did just run 13.1 miles. I can hold my own. I can shoot pretty well, you know.”

“I didn’t mean to offend. You just don't look like the type.”

“I get that all the time.” Yawning one more time. “I know that I am going to pass out in my seat.”

“I’ll wake you up when the plane gets to London. How are you getting to Jersey?”

“I’m taking a taxi to the Ferry, then another Taxi to the Hotel in Jersey.”

“ You really have this all planned out, didn't you?”

“ Yeah, all except for meeting you in New York. That kind of threw a kink into all my plans. But it was a good thing because I probably would have skipped dinner and wine. But you didn't get to look over your script.”

“With the way you're yawning. I'll get to look over it while the plane is flying. It is a seven and a half hour flight.”

“ Oh great, that means I can sleep. If we crash Superman will save me… Right?”

“ Now you’re being cheeky” 

“You mean just like you were when you were when you were on Fallon?”

Talking on the way to the gate, I make sure I have my boarding pass out so that the flight attendants can see it.

Henry looks at it and sees that it's right beside where he and Kal are gonna be, that way he can wake me when we land.

After the seven and a half hour flight, Henry leans over and wakes me up.

“Hey, beautiful wake up.”

“No, I don’t want to, Mom. I was having a great dream.”

“ Hey, beautiful wake up. This is Superman. I'm here to save you.”

“Shit. we’ve crashed.”

“So you are awake.”

“Yeah I heard the Captain say chairs in the Upright position” 

“ Did you have to call me Mom?” 

“ Well, I could’ve called you Dad, but you get called that all the time on the internet.” 

“You’ve seen that.”

“More like I’ve watched the Thirst Video.”

“Are any of those-”

“Those are my questions. I'm not saying nor am I going to admit anything.”

“Did you get to read your script?”

“Yes and No. There was an angel sleeping beside me who kept whimpering. Kal went over 

several times to make sure you were okay.”

Blushing a little bit. “I’m so so sorry. Everyone says I do that. I told you I hate to fly”

Looking up at Henry to make sure it was ok to touch Kal. “Thank You for checking on me. I owe you a flavored bone the next time I see you. If that is ok with you, of course.”

“I don’t see why it wouldn't be Ok”

As we make our way off the plane and down towards the carousel where we pick up our luggage I see my black luggage. Henry was standing just a few feet away and grabbed the same luggage but when I looked at the tag on the one I had in my hand. It said Henry Cavill. This can't be happening to me. Why does fate want to embarrass me in front of God and everyone? 

“Excuse me, Henry, your luggage looks like mine and I took it from the carousel by mistake.”

“I think you just wanted another way to talk to me again.” Smiling with a mischievous look in his eye. “Leah, why don't you save your money and get into the car with me? I'll take you to Jersey.”
