he is still able to possess/mutate technology, but it wrecks his body and destabilizes him for a while so he only does it in emergencies

Going Crazy about Genetics in Fiction

I had to learn genetics to do a hobby of mine that was VERY involved with genetics (if you're curious, look up Siamese Satin Rabbits genetics. Shit's crazy).

As such I've developed a very big attachment to genetics and enjoy making my brain think about characters in fiction and their genetics. Especially when it comes to making up characters to fit in fantastical worlds. ESPECIALLY when it comes to making up fanchildren for characters who have been aged up.

Anyways I spent time on planning out some Psychonauts characters that we know the families of, Mainly for the reason of me designing my OCs: Holly Aquato-Zanotto, Cetus Lapid Zanotto-Aquato, Tansy Martindale, and Gabriel Zanotto (Can be read as masc or feminine). Their designs are not in this, but I promise to get there!

So, all of the Aquatos except Raz have a very slim eye shape, which included Donatella and Augustus. This means that the slim eye shape is most likely going to be a gene that is dominant. Raz is the ONLY one with the circular eye gene, meaning that he should probably fall under a double recessive.

The Aquato kids have the genotype- Dion - S? Frazie - S? Razputin - cc Mirtala - S? Queepie - S?

The eye color... OH BOY THE EYE COLOR. So Donatella has a phenotype of blue, making her genetics as bb bb. Eye color is on two different alleles, with the first "b"s predicting if brown will show up or not. Due to the fact that NONE of the Aquatos having the purple eyes of Augustus, it is assumed that the purple eyes that Augustus has is on the same allele. It would be highly unlikely if we were substitute the Purple eye phenotype on the Brown eyes phenotype because then we would get genotypes that look like this -

At least 50% (2 or 3/5 of the Aquato siblings) should have the purple eyes if it interacts with the eye gene. There would also be only ONE or two who have green eyes while the other(s) would have blue eyes.

Having the GEY allele work as some sort of triangle could work, with the Purple gene being covered by blue, blue covered by green, and green being covered by purple. This leads to the genotypes looking like THIS -

Now you COULD say that "oh Augustus's genotype IS green he just wears contacts/he has a mutation/it's fiction-" To that I say "I am having fun overanalyzing genotypes."

Augustus COULD have some sort of extension through the modification gene. The modification gene only interacts with the green eye gene, forming the hazel eye phenotype. But because we know that Lili and Truman have Hazel eyes, we know that Augustus's genes would have made a modification gene activate his eyes to becoming hazel. Augustus is the only one who could possibly carry the green eye gene, so he can't be carrying a modification gene.

Seriously we have- Pomade with a particular shark fin part of the hair that won't adhere to the slick-back look, Whatever Frazie has going on, Sasha Nein inspired look from pomade that was stolen from the older brother, Extreme braids, And single sprig of hair.

Donatella is also very stylized, making it hard to know if she has straight or curly hair. Augustus has enough hair that it has some textured curl in it, so we know he has the genotype of curled hair which is the C gene.

Donatella has clearly brown hair, and Augustus leans brown as well. Because of this, the genotype both have should be Rr, leading to the diversity we see with the kids. Rr is a darker ginger color, with the brighter gingers being rr.

There is ALSO the fact that the Aquatos have all 5 fingers, when some characters have 4 meaning that their genetics at the very least look like this -

We do not know if 5 fingers is dominant or recessive, and we can't go off of memory vaults in one considering how inconsistent those are when it comes to finger count.

Now for the Zanotto Family who we have less information on because we only know ONE parent. (But that makes it all the more fun to make a Lili parent).

Both Truman and Lili have slim eyes. Since I declared this a dominant gene, Lili and Truman COULD be hiding the circular eye gene, but since there are no other characters that are related to them to show their gene pool, we only know that Lili for sure has the Slim Eye gene.

This is where we get into a lot of fun. Since Lili has hazel eyes (not amber or brown), She has not only the Brown Eye Gene, but also the Green Eye Gene AND a Modification Gene that allows the Hazel to be seen. Due to the way Hazel eyes work, we know that at the very least, Lili has to have the recessive genes from both Truman and a second parent.

While we cannot figure out who gave her the genes she needs, we can infer her genotype based on the usual for hazel eyes because it is so specific.

Lili's genotype is - bbG?Mm

Next up, hair. Truman has very wavy hair so he has the mix between the Curled gene and the non-curled gene that gives straight hair. If we were to judge Lili's hair as it was, I would say it seems wavy, however she does have a cowlick/curled bang that might show her hair is curly just not used to dealing with the amount of hair causing the weight of the hair in general get rid of the natural curl.

The color of Lili's hair seems to be dyed, but for this exercise I'm just saying that she's got red hair. This would mean that Truman, who has brown hair, would need to have a recessive and dominant gene, and Lili's other parent would need to give her a recessive gene.

And the Psychonauts exclusive genetic thing that makes me pull my hair out- the finger gene. Truman has 5, Lili has 4, and we don't know if the 5 or the 4 is the dominant gene. Families that do have disparity like the Booles, we don't get to see the parents of, and we can't trust memory vaults.

like Rath, there is a glitch in the DNA's eye code. While his vision is just as strong as the average Revonnahgander, his eyes present as solid green. This really creeps Rook out, hence the shades.

The reason Ben never uses Acrocat was because this form suffered from some of the omnitrix's glitches, most notable being the clothing glitch. Since Ben knew from the start that Acrocat/Revonnahganders were not supposed to be walking around in the nude, he didn't use it. By the time the glitch was fixed, he'd forgotten he'd had it.

I too am cn dub truther, I play gi and hsr on cn, I'm chinese. I definitely prefer cn owl, ana and raven. I think their cn voices match their characters (that i made up mostly) more.

My backstories for ana and owl are kinda edgy and incredibly elaborate, especially owl's. So it's kinda embarrassing to talk about them.

I'll start off with some of my less unhinged hcs.

Ana's mother is cecilia's younger sister. Which makes her kiana's cousin.

Owl loves horror movies. He's also a massive gaming nerd, he's really good at it too. Ana also loves video games and has a natural talent for it.

Owl would never admit it out right, but he thinks of raven as a friend of sort. He knows about raven's probably dead brother and has told raven about his probably dead sister. But they never bring it up again.

This is less a hc and more me choosing to ignore canon. But I think that ana and owl should have been allowed to talk to each other. So I will just say that after manila, they didn't meet face to face until the coral arc. But they did kept in contact with one another, mostly cuz ana felt guilty but she still genuinely enjoys owl's company.

Also I think that both of them are kinda pathetic wet cats with tons of repression. On top of being a qpr, t4t, they are also girlfailure x boyloser.

Oh yeah that, it’s kinda lowkey so not a lot of people seem to have noticed (or choose to willingly ignore it bc they’re exclusionists) but in the show she’s very specifically shown to not be into fusion (Log date 7 15 2) which are gems’ ultimate expression of their relationships with each other, even though she respected garnet and was clearly no longer thinking of it as something exclusive to combat anymore.

And when you think about it her relationship with lapis is as platonic as it gets bc despite them living together as partners with the melon puppy, they’re not romantic about it just causal, between lapis’s trauma regarding fusion and peridot’s refusal to do it they don’t have the kinda relationship that Garnet and Fluorite do, or even what Pearl and Garnet have tbh

But ofc, for the people who want a more clear cut answer, the crew members also flat out said it was i intentional that she’s aro/ace rep (partially in response to people talking about shipping stuff) and made it clear (if it wasn’t already to nt’s) that her special interest in those tv show characters isn’t a romantic thing it’s more technical/anthropological

After all it is a kids’ show so they’re not gonna be coy about it, but they’re also not gonna come out and say it plainly bc they didn’t wanna get canceled any earlier than they already did, fuckin CN…

I have expressed interest in Mega Crossovers in the past (theangrycomet's CN Gen 2 comes to mind), but most Mega Crossovers are things that I'm not a fan of (like Mystery Kids or Smash Mansion). Il nous affermira tellement, que les méchants ne pourront nous faire déchoir, et nous gardera si bien qu'aucun des maux qui nous assaillent ne pourra nous causer de dommage. Bienheureux sommes-nous de ne pas avoir nous-mêmes à disputer avec les hommes, mais de pouvoir nous réfugier auprès du Seigneur Jésus dont la sympathie ne nous fera pas défaut. En lui nous trouvons un coeur vrai, une âme sûre, un amour inaltérable sur qui nous pouvons nous reposer. Le Seigneur accomplira en nous, ses serviteurs, tous les desseins de sa grâce. Ne permettons donc pas à la crainte d'effleurer seulement notre esprit. Tous les hommes et tous les démons réunis ne pourront jamais nous soustraire à cette protection divine.

T-Force CARDEA Z540 2 TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD Having first investigated PCIe, which Gen5 NVMe storage devices with up to 10,000 MB/s read and write speeds earlier this year. Team Group T-Force CARDEA Z540 2 TB SSD, which uses Phison’s E26 controller and targets high-end storage. This SSD costs $259.99 US, which is typical for 2 TB Gen5 SSDs.

CARDEA Z5 includes the Team Group T-Force CARDEA Z540. They have examined many CARDEA products, from Gen3 to Gen4 SSDs, over the years. The Gen5 “Z5” SSD series is now under review.

The Team Group T-Force CARDEA Z5 SSDs use the NVMe SSD form factor and the latest Micron 232-layer TLC NAND flash, which offers up to 2 TB of storage, twice the performance of Gen4 drives, and full DirectStorage API compliance. Most T-Force CARDEA Z540 SSDs implement the Phison E26 SSD control system found on some of the strongest Gen5 drives.

T-Force increased NAND speeds from 1600 to 2000 MT/s, improving read and write speeds. T-Force Gen5 drives will likely optimize these speeds.

The SSDs are only available in two capacities (1 TB and 2 TB) and have sequential read and write speeds of 12.4 and 11.8 GB/s, respectively. Most Gen 5 drives currently have 10 GB/s Read and 9.5 GB/s Write speeds. This SSD uses a large Frozr heatsink to lower temperatures by 20C.

The 2 TB model have tested had a peak sequential read speed of 12,400 and a write speed of 11,800 MB/s. Random Reads and Writes IOPS were 1400K/1500K, and endurance was 1400 TBW.

The Phison E26 controller, LPDDR4 memory, and two NAND Flash dies are on the front. The T-Force CARDEA Z540 has two NAND Flash (232-layer 3D TLC) devices at the back and 4 GB of LPDDR4-4266 DRAM cache. The graphene heat spreader is the only cooling solution, so the SSD can fit in any M.2 slot without compatibility issues. This fast storage device needs a heatsink, so mount it under your motherboard’s heat sink or buy one separately.

Test Setup

They tested an Intel Core i9-13900K processor at stock clocks on the MSI Z790 ACE motherboard. The platform had 32 GB of G.Skill DDR5 (Trident Z5/16 GB x 2) and the MSI MEG Ai1300P PSU. My graphics card was MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM X. This is an advanced SSD test platform. The Raptor Lake CPU powers the MSI Z790 ACE’s single Gen 5.0 x4 NVMe slot.
