so, this ones technically not a fix it because its still major character death but this is how i would tweak the canon story to give Izzy's death meaning and weight.
First of all, Izzy doesn't get shot by Ricky. The crew of the revenge may still be absolute rookies by Izzy's standards but even they know to take all the weapons off a hostage and unload any guns. Ricky still escapes and alerts the Navy, and our crew are running through the woods, down to the beach and Izzy is still falling back. For all his new prosthetic has helped his mobility immensely, its no good for running. Its clunky and dragging behind him and Ed and Frenchie and Jim and everyone keeps slowing down to make sure he's keeping up with them, but in doing that the navy are quickly catching up to all of them, they're being swarmed.
They break through the trees onto the beach, with more and more men coming up behind them. Izzy's struggling even more across the beach than he was in the woods, the hoof sinking in and sand shifting as he tries to run, and he stumbles. All the while Navy men continue to appear from all directions- and it hits him. That this is it. There's no way they will all make it out alive.
But he's Izzy Fucking Hands and even if he cant run anymore, he can still fight. He can fight for this crew, this family, these people who have given him so much, who have opened their arms to him when he was at his lowest, who have allowed him to feel free. He can still fight. He can buy them time.
So he turns, and draws his sword.
There was never any way he could win, of course. Even when he truly was the best swordfighter in all the Caribbean, fighting dozens of navy men at once would have been beyond him- but he can distract them, hold them off long enough the revenge sets sail. Its a glorious sight, one man against dozens, bodies falling around him as he holds them back. Its impressive to watch, and maybe, for a second, the crew allows themselves to hope. But then, he takes a cut to his sword arm, and another to his side.
And then he goes down.
But he goes down fighting.
Izzy Hands, who spent his whole life fighting dies that way too, fighting for the safety he spent his whole life searching for.
#i wanted to have jim hold a dinghy for him waiting to see if he could escape until the last second but i think they knew#that he would never try to escape if it brought even a chance of risk to them#its just. the season spends so long talking about who izzy is- hes revered in their community; he has a reputation; hes one of the best.#+ also showing the building of his relationship with the crew; learning how to be loved by them and love in return#he spends the start of the episode talking about how it's all for the crew for fucks sake why could we not see him die in defence of that?#using his proficiency at sword fighting to keep his family safe one last time#nyxtalks#ofmd#ofmd s2 spoilers#our flag means death#izzy hands#israel hands#fix it#resurrecting my finale week drafts now im a bit less bitter#i wanted to put something in about the crew protesting; because obviously they would; but it fucked with the flow of the post.#and again. i think they knew anyway#this was his hill to die on#also- some thoughts on why he could fight but not run: a) its fiction#b) hes actively been practicing his fighting with his hoof; hes been learning to compensate for it on a rocking boat#he'll have a lot more instinct on how to balance when his footing isnt stable; from his history and from sheer dogged determination#the way hes practiced hes learnt to use the leg to his advantage; or at least work around its hinderance.#he uses his hoof as his balance; propelling himself with his good leg; and i think itd be pretty simple to translate this through to sand-#standing still and letting them come to you; only moving in ways you feel comfortable. this has been his way of life for so long;#hes probably fought with injuries before; if nothing else; he can always figure out how to fight. hes had to

I seem to be fine most of the day and then I have a BIG mood dip around 8pm. I think I should just immediately go to bed instead of entertaining any thoughts at all about the future
#I’m finding pumping quite demoralizing#but we did have our first breastfeeding success today so I am hopeful it won’t be forever#I’m also leaning so hard on my mom and it’s made the transition SO much easier to handle#but it’s also making me scared for when she leaves and I have to do everything myself#I already find it quite exhausting to work + do dog care + cook for myself + do all other chores + handle misc life tasks#adding baby care feels like it’s going to be a lot#but I’m trying to remind myself that I have five more weeks to learn the basic skills and build good routines#and then she’ll be back in august for two and a half months so July can be a test run#and then a little more help/support with her being in town but not living with me#anyway what did I say about not thinking about the future after the mood dip starts! get to bed jes#baby tag

One very specific thing I find funny is that prior Hermitcraft Season 10, I'd drafted some worldbuilding for a Life series fanfic where there's a mail system based on phantoms (who are fast, and as a nod to Impulse's phantom sanctuary from Season 8 because I thought it was cute).
But the mail system was regularly disrupted by Etho because he was on Red life. He'd just torture and kill phantoms for their membranes because it's useful material, but mostly because he hated people checking up on him after he cut them off. He HATED mail.
So it's funny to see him play postman in Hermitcraft... Redeemed.
Also, here are some images of Impulse's phantom sanctuary because it's a fun / inspiring build to me:
He worked hard to catch those guys, did the job while they screamed at him, and redesigned the roof three times so they could see outside without burning in the sun. Not only that, but it's a decent size enclosure for a mob display (compared to Grian's magical menagerie, which is a pet shop so it's a different vibe).
The sanctuary is one of my main inspirations when I think about worldbuilding for mobs in 'fic, just because I think it's cute to have a big, pretty building for something so violent. It makes me laugh that Impulse tried to give the tour while being "hugged" and screamed at by the phantoms.
Looking forward to Scar's zoo in Season 10. I'm sure he'll build many lovely enclosures! <- Me, who is also a Planet Zoo watcher and loves seeing animals thrive in an environment designed for them :)

i've tried to analyse Dazai's feeling towards Atsushi for the last couple of days, and i still don't fully get it
does he see him as a friend? or as a soul that he's now responsible for? maybe it's his first time when he helps someone and finally Atsushi is the one who thinks of him as a close friend and is ready to spend great amount of time with him (after Odasaku ofc, but that was different situation where Dazai was still a child)? maybe he is working to accomplish Odasaku's last wish?
but also Dazai definitely sees Atsushi not as a kid, but grown man, still young and inexperienced in daily stuff, but anyway responsible enough to solve important tasks by himself
maybe Dazai's goal is to grow Atsushi up to the point when Atsushi won't need any mentor anymore, but we can't ignore the fact that Atsushi genuinely cares about Dazai and he with high possibility won't allow Dazai to suddenly disappear after his aim is completed
I CAN DEFINITELY SAY that Dazai won't ever think about himself as a good person no matter which good things he has done, he still has his dark side inside of him and he can't get rid of it so easily. and maybe one day he'll try to hide from the world again, because he has accomplished the thing that every good person should do, right? he has helped a kid to get a new life, he is not needed anymore when this kid has grown up, right?
and poof! there's Atsushi who won't let him go so easily. and who STILL thinks that Dazai can be a good person. and who CARES about him and... you don't need to be useful as a person to receive love and appreciation, right?
right.
so I will look forward to their relationships in the future, I think there definitely will be moments that break our hearts and let us cry from joy at the same time

Fun note. Idk way but I would think that Gregory and cassie would share a minecraft world before the ruin and animatronics cassie had happened. and sead world Witch Gregory dasent have back on up his harddrive.
Let say animatronics cassie and Roxy/Roxanne wolf both suddenly appear on the minecraft server in created world and command blocks.
And win gregory wake up the next more he find all of his hard work all distorted and all of his dogs have been renamed with Roxy/Roxanne wolf or cassie wolf for each dog name tags
I dunno if Gregory is that much of a shit honestly. I like to think Roxy uses her security node powers to ban him from like half the plex at least. But ya know... Gregory choosing to terrorise them all, relying on the fact no one can leave the Plex to get away with his crimes is pretty funny if Cassie can just fucking follow him lmao he did NOT expect that!
For the Minecraft server thing? I've already thought about the kind of shit Roxy and Cassie would get up to if they saw someone they thought was Gregory in an online game. They see red. This guy is gonna get destroyed. Absolutely obliterated. Sometimes Vanessa plays with him and she acts as a double agent on occasion for shits and giggles. Roxy and Cassie have done a bit with her where Vanessa's their secret spy that's been captured by Gregory so they have to try and get to Vanessa to protect her... and then Vanessa just kills them both at the last minute to steal the victory from them lmao they have fun
On a Minecraft server though? If Roxy and Cassie have played enough to know how to use command blocks and stuff, then nah they're not that cruel as to fuck up someone's Minecraft build. HOWEVER they CAN build an exact replica of his house but upside down right beneath his floor. Roxy sets up redstone traps for him and Cassie builds a maze around where he was when he logged out so he's trapped until he finds a way out. Gregory has logged on one day to his house full of water and the Drowned mobs and it's an absolute nightmare to clean up.
He tries to get them back of course, but despite his best efforts, he can't for the life of him find Roxy and Cassie's base. Why? Because it's an absolute age away. They get back and forth via the Nether that Gregory almost never goes to and take apart the portal they use every time to cover their tracks.
If he ever does find them and destroy anything, they actually do have backups of the world since Cassie's dad set the server up for them and they just. Revert the world back to a previous version. No harm done, right? I don't even know what he would do, but I think it would be funny if he was planning to fill their house with mobs and when he found it, he was devastated to learn it was on a mushroom biome island that they'd both painstakingly decorated the surrounding ocean with patches of coral and sea cucumbers. Like, to fill their house with mobs, he'd have to lure them across an ocean and that's just not fun man. Maybe he gets very bored and very very carefully does it with a single nametagged creeper, which did jumpscare them but did basically nothing lmao
Gregory, defeated by the Mushroom Biome...

Poll: What is up with Commander Seungnyangi?
Characters in Squirrel and Hedgehog appear to be mostly named based on their species (squirrel, hedgehog, weasel), profession, or other distinguishing features (Aekku = one eyed, Oegwipali= one ear). The commander of the Wolf Unit, Seungnyangi, has a name (승냥이) that translates into 'Jackal.'
Borrowing from a previous post I made, but he does look slightly different that the other wolves.
Somewhat of a thinner muzzle than the rest, rounder ears. Jackals in real life can have longer thinner muzzles and sometimes rounder ears than wolves.
Insults based on species do appear to exist in the Squirrel and Hedgehog universe. For instance, Bamsaegi provides a distraction by calling Geumsaegi a 'running dog of General Commander,' which means some dogs and other animals must have a reputation.
Jackal has connotations that suggest trickery, cunning, and treachery. Commander Seungnyangi does not much care about the safety of his own men, and is very intelligent and brutal in getting what he wants. Which means he could have been named after this factor. Golden Jackal may be most likely.
Or (and this one would be tricker for a few reasons) he could be a mixture of both or other canines, as the wolves have have looked down on him for being part of a supposedly weaker species, while jackals stayed away because they saw him as yet another wolf brute. Or he kept one parent’s name. I’m still kind of keeping the canon-typical speciesism as in the other AU. It is a war and espionage AU fanfic, after all.
Feel free to make any suggestions!

rooting for the erins to repeat tnp so the cats can find a more interesting place to live. let developers cement over the lake and build a mcmansion atop the moonpool.
#warrior cats#any place with more detail put into it from the start would be nice#also somewhere where everyone shares more land borders- the lake kills tension because everyone's more spread out#i'm thinking a wilder area could be fun: suddenly everyone has to deal with large animals#wolves attack a camp in the winter. someone gets too close to a deer with a fawn and gets kicked in the head#people often go hunting in the area. cats have to be careful lest they get injured by a trap hurt by dogs or shot by accident#people are concerned about there being cats in a national park and try to tnr or relocate them#the territories are more challenging to live in and force the cats to change their way of life#stuff like windclan's place being too cold to sleep outside and they have to build dens (TUNNELLER RETURN)#riverclan discovering there's a yearly salmon run and that attracts bears who love the island camp they made#skyclan really lives up to their name and spends most of their time in the canopy because wolves often enter their territory#and so on
