Headcanons about Bug Fables Teams

Some of these are borrowed from other people, most are original.

Some of these are related to my crossover AU idea with Hollow Knight, but I’ll try to keep those to a minimum.

There are spoilers below!

Team Slacker (Stratos and Delilah)

Their main role is investigating rumors of monsters and ruins out in the wilderness. Sometimes they get sent out to find ‘giant supplies’ like a tire for rubber, old tools for metal, etc. kinda like oil prospectors. This job is typically seen as highly dangerous due to the issues of long-distance travel, lesser bugs, bandits, etc. and thus is paid extremely well. Team Slacker, however, is so strong that they just do not have to worry about any of that.

Stratos has been divorced at least once, possibly even twice or thrice. He has kids and Delilah is their adopted wine aunt.

Team Celia (Celia and Levi)

They’re the ‘detective’ team, responsible for investigating criminals and handling some of the more court-related paperwork that the association has to handle.

Levi is trying his absolute best to be a hero, both for the sake of it and also to make ladybugs more accepted.

They have a friendly rivalry with Team Slacker. They banter and lightly glare at each other sometimes. This is at least in-part because Team Celia works so hard to professionally investigate things and take notes and then they just see Team Slacker chasing rumors and constantly slacking off.

Celia came from the same colony as Tiso from Hollow Knight.

Team Bookwork (Reeves and the Reading Ant)

If you aren’t familar, it has been officially confirmed that these two formed an explorer team specifically so that they could get access to the Ant Kingdom library.

I think they sneak into explorer meetings for free food. Most of the association straight up forgets that they exist.

Team Maki

They are the de facto leaders of the association. By ‘they’ I mean mostly Maki and also Kina when Maki is away and she yells at the other teams for being dumb idiots.

Many assume that Yin, for whatever reason, is an adult in-body due to her size. This is actually a popular misconception, she is going to get so much larger, and stronger. She’s gonna have like 3 defense.

Team Ant (Gen on the left and Eri on the right)

They do tons of community service and less dangerous missions. Basically everyone in the Ant Kingdom recongizes them as those friendly ladies that found their lost pet or whatever.

Elizant II secretly worries about the association becoming too powerful and distant from both her and the common citizens. Team Ant, being a less imposing team that works alongside everyday bugs a ton, are meant to prevent that.

Maki is aware that they lead his fanclub, he’s not really sure what to do with that information.

Team Snakemouth

Yes, Chompy does count as a member. Leif tried to get Maki to include her on the paperwork.

Vi loves the Termacade. Leif supports her but teases her about it, and Kabbu also encourages her but he’s kinda of a himbo and is very confused by the technology.

Kabbu is incredibly gay, by both definitions. I think we can all agree on this.

Leif is responsible for cooking and paperwork, Vi for managing their berries and schedule, and Kabbu for cleaning and gardening.

Team Mothiva

OH boy I actually have so many headcanons, but most of them relate to the aforementioned AU. Anyways here are some:

Zasp makes dinners and lunches. Mothiva makes teas and desserts. Breakfasts are made together. Zasp is actually a really good cook.

Zasp has no idea that wasps are meant to be carnivores, absolute himbo. She doesn’t know either, if you’re wondering.

Emo rock is their favorite genre of music, pop is a close second.

The developers confirmed that Zasp was planned to have lightning magic, but that was scrapped. I like the idea that he REALLY wishes he had it and if you give him a taser his reaction is somewhere between ‘little kid who just got candy’ and ‘manically laughing cartoon villain.’

All of the explorer moths are some level of cryptid. Yin is biologically, but not in terms of vibes. Leif has always acted like a weirdo even before going into Snakemouth Den. Mothiva was just actually a cryptid at one point. Like there’s just some town outside of Bugaria where the locals will mention some weird moth that people kept having sightings of.

She has an incredibly strange patchwork of knowledge. Before she met Zasp, she did not know how to do taxes, but did know stonecarving and how to bury a body.

He’s trans I’ve decided.

Given the givens and the current state of the Bug Fables fandom, even if we're only active for four months out of the year, it really feels like we're eventually going to become a big enough slice of the sample size of BF fic to become a noticeable statistical outlier. "Average Bug Fables fan posts 0 whump fics a year, Mantis God Georg is an outlier and should not be included" style. Once this point comes we will also no longer be allowed to complain about any trends in the fandom anymore because we will be the majority and thus any punching we do in any way will be punching down by default by virtue of the buffet of crime we've made for ourself.

#we speak #bug fables #this will probably take a few years but the current state of BF fics being what it is it probably wont be that hard to accomplish #this will be very hard on us specifically because of the aimless kvetching we like to do about bullshit ship fics #although that particular trait may be a bit of an artefact of when we came into the fandom #since the general swing is FAR more towards gen fic nowadays #with SIGNIFICANTLY less of the ships that were so pervasive as to be inescapable when we first played #maybe some day people will write fics punching back about us #will be nice to read if so we like to inspire creativity in people even if its out of spite on their side #might even improve our writing

Hi! Of course it's okay to ask, I'd be happy to try and describe it for you :) Throwing this under a readmore since it's image heavy!

I've made an alt account to give the best explanation I can - when you join the server, you'll be dropped right into the rules channel. You'll see two other channels, the FAQ and the old bug reporting channel, which has a link to a Google Form for any bugs you encounter and want to report.

You'll need to agree to follow our rules next. Discord I believe only allows us to list 6 rules - you'll need to read through the rules channel for the full list!

After that, you'll need to wait a few minutes before you can interact with Silverpelt to gain access to the rest of the server. Use this time to read through the rules channel to make sure you understand how we expect our members to act!

Once the countdown is up, you'll be able to click the verify button! If it doesn't work straight away, wait a bit and try again. Sometimes the silly bot is taking a nap and forgets to let newcomers in!

This will open up a ton of new channels, which may be a bit overwhelming at first. Don't stress too much - you can click Browse Channels at the top of the channel list to choose exactly what you'd like to see!

Anything you don't want to see, you can untick. This way, you can have the exact experience that suits you best.

Some important channels:

staff-help is where you go to open a ticket. If you ever have a concern about the server, such as another member making you upset or uncomfortable, you can open a private ticket to chat with the moderators. Nobody can see these but you and the team, so they're a great way to express how you're feeling about things without fear of being judged by others!

Everything in the Clan Gen category is where you'd go to chat about the game! We have a general channel for regular chatter, a screenshots channel for sharing your in-game pictures, a challenges forum for mixing up your gameplay, and a clan-sharing forum for sharing your Clans!

The Creative Corner category hosts channels like art, alongside the modding channels. This is where you'd go to get user-created mods (such as the ever-popular LifeGen!), or to talk about making your own!

The Tech and Game Support category is where you want to be if you need help. The official-tech-help forum accepts threads asking for help with the ItchIo version of the game, while the players-helping-players channel is where you'd go for help with the GitHub developmental version. There is also a save-file-editing channel for help with editing your files, such as bringing a dead cat back to life or causing a cat to become pregnant!

I hope this explanation made sense, and wasn't too overwhelming. I hope to see you in the server!

This was one of the first things I've written, and looking back on this, I kind of hate it. I don't really like a lot of the writing decisions I've made. A lot of it was ooc, even for an au, and a good amount of moments didn't feel too put together. However, I would be wrong if I said this fic had no value. It personally kickstarted my writing journey!

I do want to mention that I do and don't plan on finishing it. While the work is discontinued, I am working on something called "Re-Spored" which will basically involve rewrites of my old fics (like this, for example)

I'll just say it up front, nothing about the story I had in mind for the original version of the fic justifies it even being more than one chapter, let alone 20 and a multi part thing. Barely anything about "Everything's (Not) Okay" made sense in my eyes, looking back at it. The original plot was faulty, everyone was ooc even for an au excluding maybe Rick, and if I ramble even more about how much I don't like one of my old fics I'll be on my death bed. Ironically, I'm still fond of it, but more In a "Aww, well aren't you an adorable piece of garbage" way.

So involving this rewrite to keep things short, will be only one chapter. The chapter will most likely be a long one-shot(possibly up to 20k words. At the bare minimum, it'll be around 7,500 words), but still a one-shot

Tldr: I'm turning Brokeon Royalty into a One-shot and naming it "Fractured Bell"

The respored (rewrite) of "Amphibia Erased Neo"

I kind of like the original version better than Broken Royalty, but it still had its problems. The chapters weren't really too unique, and while the frogs(like Sprig, Polly, etc) were in character, the human characters(Molly, Phoenica, Trixie) weren't.

The rewrite is meant to be a complete overhaul of the original fic, where it changes nearly everything from the original.

Just a short One-shot involving how Mushroom Girl meets the blond girl with a flower in her hair, nothing much! Just full of fluff!
