Maybe I should start posting my WIPs here too

I’ve decided I want to do a little “series” (is there a better word for it???) of drawing Macedonia, Poland, and Turkey in my regional folk costumes. It’s 02:30 and I’ve given up trying to continue drawing the embroidery, I will continue when I wake up. But for now this is what I have

It’s the nosija from selo Buf where my family fled from in the 1930s, and I love drawing it very much

She will be the first in this little mini-series, then I’ll probably do Poland next. My only debate is if I should just pick one strój ludowe to draw or do all of them, because my family comes from 6 different voivodes 🫠 and all different regions. I don’t really want to draw Feliks 6 time for this, I will likely just choose one. Though I do debate if I should do research on the clothing worn by Jews in Podlasie/Kujawsko-Pomorskie as well since that’s where my Ashkenazi culture comes from. Who knows, we’ll see what I can find

Anyway here’s a picture of the nosija

Last note before I end this post, I’m gonna try to post more art here since that was the point of me making this blog lol. Surprising to say some of my old art still floats around certain Yugotalia tags but I haven’t posted much complete work in ages before I posted that art of Emil. I’ll try to post more. Hopefully my engagement will go up, my engagement on Instagram has been pathetic

Should one write at 3 am? Probably not. But inspiration strikes when it strikes.

Dylan wakes up disoriented; it’s much warmer under the covers than normal, and he’s never been great with heat. In his semi-conscious state, he bumps into the source of the warmth, his fingers meeting an expanse of smooth skin.

It takes him a moment to remember who it is, and when he does, a smile spreads across his face. He blinks one eye awake.

They had forgotten to shut the blinds the night before, so the early morning sun makes the room much brighter than it should be. But, Dylan can’t find it in himself for be upset, because the sun also perfectly illuminates Bo’s blond hair; it is splayed out across his pillow, glowing like a halo.

Bo always loves to send him the videos of the cows being released into the pasture for the first time after a long, dark winter. Dylan, in this moment, thinks he understands what the cows must’ve been feeling in those videos.

He throws off the duvet and shuffles closer to Bo again, a hand winding around his waist to rest on his smooth abs. One say it will sink in that he gets to have this now, and he thinks waking up next to Bo has already become the best part of every day.

Dylan cuddles him tightly, reveling in the small, contented sound that Bo makes as he closes his eyes.
