A continuation of my post season 8 Black Paladin Lance AU. I’m trying to keep things close to canon with the other characters but am open to divergent suggestions.

okay klance au time
(i don’t think it counts as an au, because it’s not changing canon, its just something that could happen after canon)
warning this is long and hard to understand i cant be bothered. u either get it or you dont.
so i haven’t actually thought out all the details and stuff, this is very much just a thought i had:
It’s set after canon, aka everything stays the same. I KNOWWWW that farm lance gets a lotta hate and i get it trust me, but that also stays the same. Non-negotiable because this whole au basically built around that fact!!! so yeah suck it.
okay so everyone’s doing their thang, the paladins are growing up and like young adults, but they’re not teens anymore!
lance is at the farm, and keith works with the blade of marmora or whatever he ended up doing. i can’t remember but that’s what we’re going with. and you know there’s obviously some klance scenes in the last season and in this au that has developed as the next few years passed.
they might’ve started out hating each other and slowly getting better at standing each other, and then friendship developed into a little more, and now they’re basically dating. except they have never said that they’re dating, but neither of them wants to be with anyone else so it’s fine, they know. and they like it that way, it takes the pressure of. (everyone knows but it’s not something that’s brought up)
and anyway point is keith works in space right? and he comes back to earth often because that’s where they all meet, and they try to meet frequently. and that’s where lance lives, so why wouldn’t he? so he stays there when he visits, and it’s nice.
Lance, as always, goes hand in hand with angst. so add some of that. lance has gotten over his feelings for allura. obviously none of them have fully moved on, but with help from the others (and especially keith) he’s come to terms with that. however, that doesn’t mean it’s not constantly affecting him anymore.
he’s already lost allura, and he’s not actually dating keith, but he’s realized that he might not be as straight as he thought over the last couple years. and maybe there’s more to it than just letting keith stay at his house when he visits because he doesn’t have a house, and more because well he might be dating keith but he doesn’t know if keith considers them that. even if it feels that way sometimes
and he’s worried that it’s gonna be another allura-situation. he doesn’t want that, and keith is out in space trying to spread peace and stuff. and lance worries. lance doesn’t want to lose him before he’s even sure that he had him.
and he’s been trying to ignore that thought because everything is fine. keith wont get hurt. he knows what he’s doing and the war is over, so what’s the chances?
but then keith gets hurt.
and the whole thing basically boils down to lance going straight to proposing. because that’s just what he’s like, it has to be good, it has to be perfect. because keith deserves perfect. and it’s not like he can ask keith if they’re dating.
and this is honestly the part i haven’t thought that much about, this idea is mostly based on the setting. but im thinking he gets some help from the other’s at earth to plan it. everyone gathers at lance’s farm because that’s what they always do when they meet up. and everyone is there because keith comes back injured and stays with lance while he gets better.
and lance is nervous because what if he read all of this wrong, he did imagine the rival thing back at garrison, but the others help calm him down. and idrk how but he proposes to keith and asks him to spend their lives together and whatnot.
they have a BEAUTIFUL wedding, and the flowers that remind him of allura are all over btw. they’re in love and everyone’s happy despite it all.
yeah idrk i haven’t worked it out but i like the story. it’s based in the song Found by Dan Davidson. I think it’s cute and it fits with the farm thing. you have to listen to it to get my vision:

With the body swap AU, does Krolia make sure that Keith is getting a better diet, with Gales dietary needs in mind ?
Well considering that the Galra diet is basically the rough equivalent of being an intergalactic trash compactor, I don't think it's so much the Galra part that needs worrying about, as it is his general diet. He's picked up a lot of bad habits from his time in foster care, chiefly scavenging instead of really eating regular meals, which Shiro and Adam have already been working on with him...
....no, the bigger concern is what Krolia tries to put into Shiro's body. She has a very basic understanding of what humans can and can't eat from her time with Heath, but you know Adam catches this woman eating a banana with the peel on and has to actively stop her from trying to bite into a mango pit. Please, Krolia. You have a human body right now. Takashi's human body. No you cannot eat eggshells. Yes, I know Keith can. Please don't use your son as an example of what a normal human diet looks like.
(Everyone watching Takashi Shirogane try and eat avocado skin like... oh no. Keith's weird eating habits are rubbing off on him.)

Being a parent means that sometimes you'll be up at odd hours working with one hand and holding your kid with the other because they want comfort and no sleep. It happens. And Thace is being a good parent and doing his work with Pidge in hand. Not that she's bothered. She seems to be enjoying seeing things on the screen move.
Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy this one! It makes me happy to draw this sort of AU. Until next time!

Hiraeth!Keith oneshot (1)
read it all here!
trigger warnings// suicidal ideologies, war, blood, injury etc. (general Blade of Marmora stuff)
“GIVE IT BACK!”
Kolivan effortlessly dodged once again, Keith’s new sword that felt wrong in his hands barely grazing the long braid he wore that hung behind him. He adjusted his grip with a twist of his wrist but Kolivan simply backhanded him away, his strike not even grazing him.
“Emotions are a luxury we can’t afford,” Kolivan warned as he unbalanced Keith with a simple kick to the back of his knees. “You are attached to this blade; it is all you have left of your world. But that planet is gone, nothing but dust and rubble lost to the empty expanse of space. You must accept that if you are to survive here.”
His bones ached and throbbed but he still got to his feet, charging again like it was second nature. Kolivan punched him and he couldn’t tell where, the impact feeling all too similar to the rest of his body which he was sure was becoming a giant bruise.
With every hit he learned to roll with the impact better, getting up faster and faster, not allowing Kolivan a second to breathe. He punched while he deflected Kolivan’s weapon and missed. He kicked before he striked, learning and adapting based on what he saw Kolivan do. Not that it mattered. Keith hadn’t even managed to land one hit.
Keith had been told all his life by his father that he could do anything if he just set his mind to it. His dad had never lied before but Keith was starting to doubt it all the same. He wanted more than anything in the world, no the universe, to beat Kolivan, to get his knife, the only thing he had left, back and he would spill as much blood as he needed to get it back-
He had convinced himself that the reason he was failing was because this knife wasn’t his, it was similar but wrong, it fit into his hand wrong, it set against his belt wrong, it was too heavy and too light and at the same time, and it was all wrong. Kolivan could be beaten, he could escape, he could go back to a home that wasn’t there if he could just win but that was wrong too.
Keith could listen to his dad’s raspy voice again if he could hit harder. He could watch the sky bleed from twilight to dusk again on the porch if he could just move faster. He could feel wind in his hair and the ground rushing past him on his dad’s bike if he could just win.
A daze had taken over him, a delusional obsession deep in his gut that he believed with every fiber of his being that if he just did enough he could go home. He didn’t want to remember the fleets blocking out the sky, his father’s panicked voice, the tremors shaking the ground, the running, the smoke, the fire illuminating the blue glow of two crescents beneath cheeks as blood mixed with ash and his knife gleamed a little duller.
He had run away from it all, taken to a ship he didn’t recognize, pressed against people he didn’t know, drowning on dry land trying to breathe above the crowd towering over him-
And then Kolivan was there, a firm presence at his side that was wrong. It shouldn’t have been claws against his shoulder, it should have been his dad’s calloused hands. It shouldn’t be a pale multicolored face with a scar that ran down the side, it should have been his father’s with a nick above his eyebrow. He wanted to run, to feel sand under his feet, and run away as fast and far as he could because everything was wrong and nothing was going to change that.
More than anything he was angry. More than that he was exhausted and he couldn’t run from that anymore as he sank to his knees, gasping for breath. It was a tiny rebellion, to show emotion when Kolivan had just told him not to. He glared up at him with all the fury his soul could produce, only for the taller Galran to kneel beside him.
“What do you want, Keith?” Kolivan asked indifferently, observing him with golden eyes.
“...I want my knife… back… it’s not… yours!” Keith heaved, scrambling to his knees.
“If you defeat me your weapon will be returned to you. But you must first learn how to defeat me. Knowledge is greater than power.” Kolivan stated so nonchalantly like it was simple. “You are powerful, you have survived through many endeavors, but you still cannot win. But you still must do what needs to be done.”
Keith’s gaze followed Kolivan’s blade as he dropped it, the sound echoing as soon as it hit the floor. He stared up in disbelief but he only waited. Keith watched the Blade lose its glow, no longer in Kolivan’s grasp. The insignia in the crossguard grew dark as he looked on impassively, waiting for the action Keith would take.
“You should have killed me by now,” Kolivan said calmly, like he knew Keith wouldn’t move. It snapped him from his shock, lunging for the hilt and crossing it with his own to rest barely an inch from Kolivan’s neck. Humiliation burned under his skin that he had to bend over to reach his height, but he still didn’t move, eyes not leaving Keith’s.
“You are granting me mercy. That was your first mistake,” Kolivan’s form blurred right in front of him and he didn’t even get the chance to nick him as Kolivan swept his legs out from under him. His stance mirrored the one Keith had taken not seconds ago, both swords hovering over his neck. Keith glared down at the swords, meeting Kolivan’s stare without flinching. It wasn’t like he had anything to lose.
“You are not powerful enough to grant mercy. You must permanently deal with your enemies to ensure they don’t hurt you or anyone else. Power is the ability to choose. The Blade of Marmora doesn’t have that option.” Kolivan lowered his sword. “Neither do you.”
Keith was quiet, no longer meeting his eyes. He only heard Kolivan sheath his own blade before setting down Keith’s own.
“Each blade is unique to every member. It is tied to your life force and bloodline. You should make your own in the forgery. Use the Luxite provided there sparingly, it is hard to gather these days.”
Before exiting Kolivan stopped, turning back to him. “Choose a new name. Your previous title has very obvious origins. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that your species is now very coveted by Alteans and Galrans which are currently the most powerful species in the galaxy. If you are to help the Blade of Marmora avenge your planet you must become one of us. Embrace your new duty to the universe… A purpose is a very important thing here. Don’t lose sight of your own.”
It took Keith a while to realize he had even left. The words and empty warnings floated through the empty space of his mind as he laid, motionless, on the floor. What did he want? What purpose did he even have here? What was even the point of getting off this shiny, cold floor?
Keith could have pondered those questions for the rest of his life. He could give up, right here, and never move again. The others probably wouldn’t even notice, if they even cared enough to. Who could blame him? A kid, alone, literally thrown into an unknown universe. The only planet he had ever known was destroyed before his eyes by a war he couldn’t even hope to understand. What could one helpless kid abandoned by the cosmos itself hope to do?
It was at that moment Keith decided he didn’t need hope. His dad had died helping people, and Keith would die doing the same thing. He wanted to avenge his planet, his dad, his home, his memories, even if he had to give up all of them to do it. Remembering would only tether him to the moment he lost it all. He didn’t have time for that.
He forced himself to move, to crawl, to spite the world itself. The Blade of Marmora wanted to use him? Keith would use them right back to fuel the supernova of rage building in his chest. He would shed all the blood he needed to, enough to drown the stars themselves. He would destroy, maim, shatter and crush anything that got in his way. He would burn the sun itself even if it would only leave him with ashes.
It was enough. It had to be. It wasn’t like he had anything else.

“Pidge, do you know what’s going on with Keith?” Lance rested his hands on his hips, giving the girl a stern look. “You have that look on your face.”
“What look?”
“The ‘I know something and I’m trying really really hard not to say it’ look!” Lance poked a finger into her face. “You know something about why Keith’s acting so…Keith-y!”
“It’s Keith,” Hunk pointed out. “Isn’t being emo and antisocial like, his thing?”
“He’s been gone for days,” Lance said. “Days. He’s not answering his scroll, and nobody has seen him, not even Shiro! Does anyone else find that a little concerning?”
“Of course I’m worried!” Hunk protested. “But I don’t know why you’re interrogating Pidge about it!”
“Because,” Lance said slowly, turning to jab a finger at Pidge again, “she knows something we don’t.”
Pidge’s eyes darted between them before her shoulders slumped. “Okay. Yeah. I—I promised I would keep it a secret, but…” Her brows drew together, and she bit her lower lip. “I’m worried about him. I think…I think he might have gotten into trouble.”
Lance arched a brow. “Keith. In trouble. Gods, Pidge, I can’t imagine that.” His voice was flat and humorless.
Pidge glared at him. “He could be in more trouble than you can imagine,” she said, voice low. “Real, actual trouble.”
There was no denying the serious expression on her face.
“What kind of trouble?” Hunk looked nervous, obviously picking up on Pidge’s distress.
Pidge hesitated. Then she drew in a steadying breath, squared her shoulders, and said, “Keith’s a Faunus.”
A beat.
“What?” Lance leaned away from Pidge like she’d burned him.
Hunk looked equally shocked. “What kind?”
“Cat. I think.” Pidge managed a small smile. “The ears are pretty cute, but he’d kill me if I told him that.”
“Ears?” Lance shrieked, eyes bugging out of his head.
Pidge slapped a hand over his mouth. “I wasn’t supposed to tell you,” she hissed. “So I would appreciate it if you didn’t tell everyone in the fucking building!”
Hunk shook his head. “No, no. He can’t be a Faunus! He doesn’t have cat ears, he wears a…hood…”
Slowly, the color drained from his face.
“Oh my gods. He really is a Faunus, isn’t he?”
“Why is he lying to us about it?” Lance flung his arms into the air. “Why the fuck wouldn’t he tell us he’s a Faunus? And how would that get him into trouble?”
Pidge’s shoulders dropped, curling inward. “I…it’s complicated.”
“Why?” Lance demanded. “How is lying to his team complicated?”
Pidge seemed to gather her courage, drawing herself up to look Lance in the eye. “He’s a member of the Blades of Marmora.”
Behind Lance, Hunk sucked in an audible breath. “Oh. Oh.”
Lance said nothing, but his entire body tensed at the name like he was under attack.
“Lance, it’s not what you think—” Pidge began, voice desperate.
“What is he doing here, Pidge?” Lance’s voice was low and dangerous; there was no more humor in it, no more messing around. This was the voice he used when he was fighting.
Pidge wilted, wrapping her arms around herself like it could protect her from the truth. “I don’t know,” she said softly. “But I—I know Keith. I know he isn’t here to—to hurt anyone. He’s…he’s not like that.”
Lance curled his lips into a snarl. “How do you know that? We’ve known him for, what? A few weeks? How do we know he isn’t like the bastards that killed my family?”
Pidge’s eyes were bright with tears, and Hunk had one hand pressed over his mouth.
“I…I just think we should give him time to explain,” she whispered. “He deserves that much.”
Lance ground his teeth so hard he thought they might crack. “I don’t want to listen to what he has to say,” he snarled. “We need to go to the police.”
“You’re turning him in?” Hunk cried, dismayed.
Lance whirled on him. “You’re not?” He threw out his arms, unable to believe what he was hearing. “Hunk, he’s a Blade! We can’t trust him! He’s here to do something awful, I just know it!”
Hunk looked devastated; tears glistened in his eyes, and he looked sorrowfully at Lance. “Yeah. He’s a Blade. But…” He heaved a great sigh. “He’s our teammate, too. He’s saved our lives more times than any of us can count. He’s our friend. We need to at least hear him out.”
Lance was shaking, head snapping back and forth between them. He let out an incredulous, humorless laugh. “I can’t believe you two. You’re really trusting a Blade? A Blade?”
“We’re not asking you to trust him,” Pidge said quietly. She looked up, pinning Lance in place with amber eyes. “We’re just asking you to…not turn him in. At least until we’ve had a chance to talk to him.”
Lance pressed his lips together. A whirlwind of familiar emotions—grief, fear, rage—swirled in his gut, battering him like stormy waves pushing a ship out to sea.
But he knew Pidge was right. Keith had had their backs in too many fights to count. He’d had plenty of opportunities to harm them, but hadn’t. Of course, he could simply be biding his time, waiting for the right moment…but despite all the rage, all the desire for vengeance…Lance couldn’t deny that he needed to hear Keith’s side of the story first.
Slowly, he unclenched his fists and relaxed his shoulders. “Fine.” His voice came out as a low growl. “But once we’re done hearing him out, it’s time to tell the police.”
Pidge looked unhappy, but nodded reluctantly.
Hunk squeezed Lance’s shoulder, ignoring how he tensed up again. “Come on. Let’s go look for him.”

What if Keith Kogane had a twin sister?
In this AU, Krolia is Haggar's and Zarkon' s daughter (Lotor's sister). Haggar's a dark skinned altean, so I imagine if Krolia looked altean she'd be dark skinned too. So whenever the twins were born, Keith looked human but his sister looked galra. Krolia took the girl with her, but soon found out that she could change and look human as well. She would have dark skin, black hair with white streaks from her grandma (Haggar), and purple eyes.
Her and Keith would accidentally meet when Keith goes and joins the BOM. The girl would be happy to see another human, transforming from Galra to human. Keith would be happy to find another half-breed. The girl would be like, "I have to show you to my mom!"
They'd go find Krolia and Keith would be like, "That's my mom." They'd get confused and Krolia would have to explain. I can imagine them getting pissed bc Keith was left just bc he looked human. They'd get really close and when Keith went back to Voltron, she'd go with him.
It's just a silly little AU I came up with bc I'm bored. Have fun exploring it though 😜

Goretober 2022 Day 19: Too much blood
After Kolivan beat the shit out of him, Ulaz simply dragged himself to his room and slumped to the floor there, too shaken and numb to even try to stop the bleeding from the deep wound in his throat. Luckily for him, the blood trail was easy enough for medics to follow.

i imagine even in the backwaters, they get regular updates of the empire, especially news concerning anything important to do with emperor zarkon. and having the red lion AND paladin would be amazing propaganda. so does krolia (or anyone else) recognize keith? especially after he starts lookin more purple? and if she does, how does she feel about it? what does she do, if anything?
Oh I'd imagine they hear about it! Having both the red lion and its paladin by Zarkon's side sounds like the kind of information that the Empire would purposefully spread. The false paladins might have stolen most of the lions from them, but do you see? One has returned to his side- and it is the right hand of Voltron, at that.
Thinking about Krolia watching that broadcast, and seeing Keith stand by Zarkon's side... she has an awful feeling in her gut. It only refers to him as the 'red paladin', and digging up further information without rousing suspicion proves difficult. But she can't shake the feeling of dread that's settled like a stone in the pit of her stomach.
I think the sort of bitter irony is that Keith never gets markings like hers in this AU. Since I've more or less decided to go down the chimera route, he actually would probably steadily get less recognizable. It... does not help Krolia's suspicions. She attempts to pump Kolivan for information, but is forced to confess why.
Kolivan confirms her worst fears.
Krolia's first instinct is to storm Central Command herself. She bites it back. It would be extremely foolish, especially since Keith is not in his right mind and has an entire Voltron lion at his beck and call. But I can see her purposefully sabotaging her own undercover gig, so Kolivan is forced to reassign her... and sends her to the place she's likely to cause the least amount of trouble- in other words, right to Voltron.
This is how the paladins learn that Keith is half-Galra. This is how they suddenly understand how things went south so badly so fast. This is how they gain an ally who would do anything to get her son back.
(This is how later, when Keith doesn't quite know what to do with himself, he winds up with the Blade of Marmora, searching for the kind of redemption only they can offer.)
