Out Of This World por `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ Por Flickr: Alien Throne, located in Valley of Dreams, is a hoodoo formed by erosive forces like wind, rain, and flowing water beating away at stacked layers of soft and hard rock. The softer layers wear down relatively quickly, while the harder layers resist for longer, and it ends up with such a unique appearance. Getting to the Valley of Dreams, and thus Alien Throne, is not easy. It’s in a remote wilderness area with no roads, no signs, and no official trails. Google Map failed to take us to the trailhead, as we gave up hope and turned around, we were then lucky to bump into a photographer whom we had met the evening before. He so happened was heading out that way for sunset & sunrise photoshoots. We followed him through some serious bumpy and sandy off-road trails, where a 4x4 and high clearance vehicle was a must. (GPS is not the exact location.) Thank you for your visit, wishing you a happy day ahead! PS: I'm on a month-long road trip, will catch up with you when I have time, energy and a fast internet!😊

Wings under the stars
flickr
Wings under the stars by Liang Li Via Flickr: This is Bisti Badlands Wilderness in New Mexico, a place full of weird rock formations. This place was originally covered under water millions years ago and gradually as water receded, it shaped the entire landscape and what has left are these spectacular hoodoos. Last year in December, I spent 4 days exploring different part of this area and was really in awe when I could get so close to these ancient formations. Among all of the them, one of my favorite is called Stone Wings, which is a set of rocks that look like wings. I find the best way to photograph them is either during sunset when they are lit by the light, or at night when they are in silhouette against stars. This image shows the night version. Since the northern star was directly above them, I decided to capture the movement of stars. It was a cold night, but I am glad how this image turns out.

Thinking about how 1000 years ago, Chiss and Lysatrans both spoke Sy Bisti with their trade partners and that included each other. And then the Jedi-Sith Wars happened and the Chiss retreated and they both remained in their own respective trading circles. One or both of them could've lost the language.
But neither did. It stayed a vital part of the languages they spoke with others.
And I imagine young Vurawn on Rentor in some classroom, learning the language, a paragraph in a textbook saying they spoke that language with an alien called humans in lesser space in the pre-Sith era and Vurawn wondering about their art and cultures. He takes to it easily of course, and Thrass brushes up on his Sy Bisti because Thrawn likes to practice this above all other trade languages.
And years later, a preteen Eli Vanto whines because his mom and dad wants him to learn another trade language over summer break. His mom tries to console him, this is the language they used with the chiss. He huffs, accuses her of lying, but accepts it. He spends his summer buried in Sy Bisti, taking to it the easiest of all the trade languages. Even when they’re at their lake house, he’s choosing to practice, and he looks over the lake and wonders-what did the chiss sound like speaking these words? What did they talk about? All those years ago-speaking the same words he is now.
Both of them take to the language with ease, with a tingle of wonder and what they’ll someday feel is fate. And one day, Eli sees a chiss. A real one, hears the voice speaking the language. And he understands why.
It’s so he can reluctantly make this chiss’ life a bit easier. It’s so after a long day of classes, when there’s no prejudice ears, they can switch to the trade language to be on even ground-neither speaking their native tongue, but neither having to work extra hard. Once they find a groove on the Blood Crow, it gives Eli a language to whisper jokes to and get a flash of amusement-no one else the wiser
A couple promotions and a ship or two later and Sy Bisti is as natural as a native tongue to them. Unless a mission calls for it, they don’t let anyone else hear it. They save Sy Bisti for conversations on the secret Empire Project, some more intimate Nightswan conversations, some of their more laid back nights. They dredge up the rarely used SB sign language to learn finger spelling and convert to their secret cypher as a wordless communication method.
Just Sy Bisti thoughts and how easily either culture could’ve lost it over 1000 years but instead fate ensured it was passed down to the people who entwined those cultures again

Mars On Earth ⍟ Eͤxͯрⷬloͦrͬeͤdͩ

Mars On Earth por `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ Por Flickr: Stone Wings, aka Flying Wings or Three Wings, are located in Bisti Badlands. Other than the Eggs, the Stone Wings are probably Bisti's most famous photo op. The middle wing is also an arch, called Klingon Bird of Prey Arch. The Bisti Badlands, NM, is one of the most unique places we have ever visited and definitely one of coolest places that not many people have ever heard of. "At one time, this 45,000-acre swath of desert was completely submerged by a sea during the Cretaceous Period. As the water receded, layers of sandstone, mudstone, shale and other sedimentary rocks were revealed, creating the Kirtland Formation, only to be carved out by braided streams that flowed through the landscape. The result is today’s dry, eerie badlands, which contain some of the most amazing sandstone rock formations on Planet Earth." ...Smithsonian Magazine We went there for sunset and saw quite a few of what looked to be mountain lions fresh footprints on the trails. Eek! (GPS is not the exact location) Thank you for your visit, wishing you a pleasant day/night! 💕🌹
