What Are The Risks Of Allowing Your Office Desk To Become Dirty - Nationwide Property Clean
There can be a temptation among many of us at times to imagine that a lack of cleanliness in the office would be largely an aesthetic matter, or even one of simple pride, rather than necessarily something that should be a top-of-the-line priority for company bosses and workers.
Yes, when there are constantly new and stressful assignments coming in, and deadlines to contend with, you might easily forget to wipe down your office desk – never mind undertake a more substantial clean of the space as a whole.
But below, we have set out some of the risks of allowing such deterioration in the cleanliness of your office desk, and why you must therefore take it seriously.
It can pose a real risk to your health
Did you know that the typical office desk hosts over 10 million bacteria? On its own, that might seem like a relatively meaningless figure, but it amounts to 400 times more dirt than can be found on a toilet seat.
This, combined with the fact that bacteria can remain active for months on surfaces and equipment in the office, should worry you if you haven’t cleaned your office desk for a while. The germs from such surfaces can easily transfer to the person using the space – probably you – causing illnesses such as flu, food poisoning, and diarrhoea.
And illness, of course, brings with it such risks as forced absences from work, and the capacity of your company’s team being reduced. It’s one reason why arranging for your office desk to be professionally cleaned isn’t just something you might do for the sake of maintaining a pleasant appearance.
Your workspace becomes an off-putting sight
We have mentioned in this piece already that the cleanliness of an office workspace isn’t just about aesthetic matters.
Indeed, that is because even the visual factors that do exist can have real knock-on practical effects. A classic example is a potential client or stakeholder coming into your office, seeing the dirtiness, and perhaps suddenly not being so confident about being associated with your company.
You might imagine that a would-be client is hardly likely to withdraw from a relationship with your company simply because of a dirty desk. However, it might be a signifier of a bigger concern; that a company that doesn’t even keep its office desks clean might not be one that takes pride in itself, or that values the health and wellbeing of its employees.
You are less likely to want to spend time at your desk
When a survey was carried out several years ago – covering some 1,500 workers in 300 offices – it was found that in offices where workers felt there was a lack of cleanliness, 72% of respondents said their working environment damaged their productivity.
Meanwhile, almost half – 46% – of those respondents said they took longer lunch breaks and didn’t spend as much time in the office as a result of such dirtiness. A quarter of those polled even said they took sick leave due to finding their unclean surroundings depressing.
These are statistics that should worry employees and employers alike. As a worker, you will naturally wish to have a pleasant and inspiring place in which to work. And if you are reading this as a company boss, the implications that unclean office desks could have for such things as employee sickness rates and staff retention should be causes for concern.
Hopefully, all the above will have made clear to you that a dirty office desk can bring risks far beyond the workspace being less pleasant to look at. Certain detrimental effects can be serious ones for a company and its workers, particularly given the potential accumulative impact of the aforementioned factors combined.
So, one thing your organisation should be aspiring to do in 2023, is get its office cleaning regime right. Enquire to the team at Nationwide Property Clean today, and we can help make that a reality for your business, for the right price.

Earth Observation Drones Market to Register High Revenue Growth During 2022-2032
Tumblr media
In the last few years, drone technology has also witnessed significant growth owing to its increasing deployment in challenging and demanding sectors such as oil and gas industries, mining, search and rescue, disaster management, environmental monitoring, and agriculture. Besides the military, commercial, and civil government end-users, the requirement for drones has also diversified to include drone applications in the areas of law enforcement, emergency response, and critical infrastructure monitoring, leading to further advancement of compact payload and sensor varieties as well as sensor agnostic drones. Moreover, drone deployment for cinematography and aerial photography has played a major role in the overall drone industry, aiding companies such as DJI, Parrot Drone SAS, Insitu Inc., and AeroVironment, Inc. to generate substantially large revenues over the years.
Read Report Overview: https://bisresearch.com/industry-report/earth-observation-drones-market.html
In order to serve a wide range of applications, the Earth observation drones are equipped with various types of payloads such as cameras, electrical systems and subsystems, and sensors such as accelerometer, LiDAR hyperspectral, multispectral, infrared, electro-optical, RGB (Red Green Blue) and ground-penetrating radars. Contemporary drones are also equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technology to automate drone operations, making drones safe to fly over any environmentally challenging terrane. The automation also helps the drones to reach their destination quickly and return to the original take-off zone without or with minimal human interference. Furthermore, the automation of drones has proven to be useful for efficient power management, crop management, natural resource monitoring, and inspections.
The major factors driving the market include the development of long-endurance capabilities in drones, hi-tech cameras and sensors for detailed image capturing, integration of automation and artificial intelligence (AI) into the drones, increasing use of drones for monitoring climate change effects, and building drones capable of operating in harsh terrane. However, a few challenges continue to affect the market, including the lack of adequately trained pilots in some critical sectors, such as surveillance, emergency response, and heavy industrial sectors, the continuation of supply chain shortage of lithium batteries used in drones, high inflation rates, and government regulations with respect to drone manufacturing and aerial traffic management.
The Earth observation drones market has been witnessing a high growth rate owing to the significant demand for drones for various applications such as surveillance, emergency response, and inspection of oil and gas fields, power plants, and more. Drones are also widely being used in applications like agriculture monitoring, environmental monitoring, and aerial photography. The Earth observation drones market for these applications is gaining traction in countries such as the U.S., the U.K, China, Canada, India, Germany, France, and Israel.

With ongoing regulatory changes and the introduction of technologies such as remote ID and 5G, drone operations will be able to grow exponentially over the forecast period. From single remote-controlled drones to semi-autonomous fleets, which will be able to fly beyond visual lines of sight, drones will be used for myriad applications, including surveying, mapping, and monitoring.
In the Earth observation drones market, the drones can be bifurcated into two categories, i.e., fixed-wing drones and rotor-wing drones. For most Earth observation applications, such as inspection and monitoring, surveying and mapping, precision agriculture, and environmental monitoring, rotor-wing drones are more widely used. This is mainly because rotor-wing drones are capable of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and offer higher maneuverability as compared to fixed-wing drones. Owing to these features, rotor-wing drones are expected to garner significant growth and traction over the forecast period in the Earth observation drones market.

BVLOS Surveys
https://nationaldrones.com.au/drone-services/surveying/bvlos/
BVLOS missions are flights piloted by qualified operators where drones fly beyond the visual line of sight. This enables drones to be expertly flown over large land areas and distances with remote landing and take off. BVLOS drone missions can capture imagery and data over vast and inaccessible areas that would take hours, days or even weeks to survey in person. More: https://nationaldrones.com.au

GoT Re-Watch: Fine-Toothed Comb Edition
This post is also available on my wordpress.
Everyone ready for the very definitely final battle with the very definite ultimate enemy of the series? Yeah, me too!
8.03 – The Long Night
(2:00) I hope people may be able to forgive me for somewhat sparse commentary this episode. So much of it is fight scene, and so little of it is visible.
(2:44) Sam’s going on a West Wing-style walking tour of Winterfell. The main action’s in the back, and this isn’t the worst way to survey the exposition – watching Lyanna Mormont mobilise, learning that the enemy’s visible from the west wall, hearing the call for the gates to close. No story can show everything, there are points where we need the exposition, and this is more dynamic and better connected to the upcoming action than people standing around a table expositing. Or watching a flashback and expositing.
The visual handover from Sam to Tyrion here still makes me think of this as a relay race, though.
(3:49) The darkness and the tight shots are supposed to be atmospheric, but they fail in one key way – they don’t let us know what’s actually going on. You see a guy with a beard, that guy could be almost anyone, ‘cause you can only see about a quarter of his face, dimly. Shot selection tells me that this guy sure does have hands, though, so…I guess it’s not Jaime we’re looking at. (I think it was the Hound.)
(4:31) Peering through the pitch darkness of the cinematography, we can more or less make out the Unsullied getting into position for some serious Hollywood tactics.
(4:37) Looking at these teeny tiny little braziers in front of the catapults reminds me of something. Nobody’s mentioned fuel for fires this season as far as I can recall. We’ve had discussions about food for winter, but…firewood is appearing out of nowhere. Nobody’s talked about fuel as a resource, especially when it comes to fighting ice monsters. Nobody’s talked about the desirability of light for night fighting yet, or the need to keep people warm. There are all these ways the writers could have introduced real challenges for the main characters, let them show off how clever and thoughtful they are, and instead…
(5:03) This shot of Gray Worm here is the first of these shots of ranked soldiers that gives us a sense of the geography – look, you can see Winterfell and its walls in the background. Yay for giving us a visual cue of how these people are deployed, a necessary precondition of a conflict that is more than “smash the armies against each other!” Boo for stationing the Unsullied outside the freaking walls.
(5:29) First line of the episode! Thanks Edd!
(5:48) A rare sighting of the elusive direwolf.
(6:32) Wait, where are Dany and Jon watching this from? If that’s Winterfell, all lit up in the background there, then they made it a pretty good distance from the crypts to outside Winterfell’s walls in quite possibly hostile territory – ah, fuck it. Like we didn’t already know the show’s going to sacrifice worldbuilding, theme, and even character for individual “that looks cool” moments.
(6:55) Of course, the other big problem with not being able to see what’s going on is that the tension generated by fear of the unknown turns into “I’m just sitting here staring at a blank screen, aren’t I?” There’s a dark shape moving around out there, but damned if you can tell what it is. There’s nothing to look at, nothing much to hear. Hasn’t been for some minutes now.
(7:28) It turns out to be Melisandre, who’s here for some deus ex machina. Both in the sense that her presence is deus ex machina, and that she’s here to provide deus ex machina.
(7:37) Melisandre asks Jorah a simple yes or no question here. It takes Jorah three seconds to nod.
(7:43) Melisandre issues a simple instruction to Jorah here.
(7:57) Jorah follows that instruction here, fourteen seconds later. It’s too dark for us to see the expression of doubt working its way across Jorah’s face, and the directors actually pull back so his emoting is even less visible. Twenty seconds to get through this exchange. The action is just rocketing along.
Oh, and incidentally, what this shot does actually make clear is that there is no visible Dothraki leadership, just a few guys we vaguely recognise standing in the front ranks. The white guy has to take charge of their armies for them. Compare and contrast with Grey Worm, indisputably in charge of the Unsullied, but also the only Unsullied we know and recognise.
(8:19) Note that even though Jorah didn’t raise his voice, there are Dothraki several ranks back raising their arakhs. Best hearing on two continents.
(8:41) The moment when every viewer said “Praise R’hllor!” for we can finally see.
(9:17) The drama with Melisandre lighting all those swords ends here, with Jorah acknowledging Melisandre’s service and turning towards where the enemy will be approaching from.
(10:37) Melisandre and Davos exchange dialogue here. Because we wouldn’t have understood a) that Melisandre was let into Winterfell and b) Davos was unhappy about it without the full minute and a half of Melisandre riding to the castle walls and Davos hurrying down the steps to meet her.
There’s nothing extraordinary about Mel’s short little ride inside. Nothing extraordinary about Davos’ trip (and we can still barely see the emoting, because it’s too dark). Nothing that justifies ninety seconds of film here, not outside a moody character drama with these two in more important roles. Here, in a series where we’re about to start an apocalyptic scale battle (allegedly), have already been kept waiting ten minutes, and where these two are secondary characters at best, we need to keep it moving along. We have to prioritise. A shot of Mel riding towards the keep or entering, a shot of Davos’ angry face and him turning to go meet her, cut to the actual meeting. There we go.
(10:55) Melisandre stares meaningfully at Arya. Oh boy. It’s almost unbelieveable that thiswouldn’t be the worst writing of the entire series.
For context, these two last met back in season three. They shared one scene. Exchanged maybe three lines of dialogue. Melisandre has not mentioned Arya since, but focused her efforts on Stannis and Jon. Arya’s mentioned Mel a few times, mostly in the context of Gendry-related trauma. In seven and a half seasons of television, that’s one scene and half a dozen lines where these characters’ arcs have intersected in any meaningful way.
We are currently thirty seconds from what has been built up as the most important battle of the series kicking off in earnest.
You better believe I will have more to say on this later.
(11:45) Whatever you say about the tactics (because you cannot say anything good), this is much better use of light and darkness here, establishing the flaming swords as a visual representation of the army’s movement.
(13:05) And the subsequent dying of those flames as a representation of the army’s defeat, without having to show us every detail of the failure of the charge. Gee, who could have guessed a frontal charge by an inferior force into pitch darkness and snow might not have worked out so good? Certainly not our very clever main characters.
I find myself thinking of the Two Towers movie and the cavalry charges that marked the climax of the Helm’s Deep battle.
The other issue, which I’m not quite sure how to address, is the mass death of the Dothraki. Right here and now, at this point in the show, the Dothraki are the only culture not European-inspired and not played by white people. And also not covered up by armour all the time, see the book!canonically racially diverse Unsullied (and we’ll talk more about how they’re depicted by the end of the season). It’s the old ‘black guy dies first’ trope taken to horrible extremes. An entire polity and culture killed off because they served no further purpose in the plot (a plot where we’ve still got a pretty damned large cast, and yet only two people of colour with speaking roles). The only idea for “resolving” the challenges this group pose politically is to kill them off. That’s what this looks like right now.
Yet what we’re going to see over the next few episodes are the Dothraki randomly reappearing. The show got incredibly sloppy in its final season – I haven’t had a high opinion of the show since season five, and I’m finding it hard to believe how sloppy it got – but this is boggling. The writers kinda forgot they killed off the Dothraki, I guess.
So I’m not entirely sure how to critically approach this moment, beyond concluding that the writers just weren’t thinking about the role of the Dothraki in their own worldbuilding, and aren’t showing much in the way of broader sensitivities regarding killing off almost all characters of colour.
(14:13) Some survivors are galloping back, in complete and total silence. Nobody has anything to say about this, nobody’s inconveniently panicking at the state of the survivors. None of the survivors themselves are inconveniently panicking, or even trying to report any information. Every extra knows they can’t say a word in case it drowns out a main character speaking. It doesn’t feel real that every person on this battlefield would have the exact same reaction to the tension. Again I find myself thinking of Helm’s Deep, where a) the pre-battle silence didn’t last fifteen goddamn minutes and b) right in the middle of it, you had Gimli and Legolas with a moment of comic relief.
(14:30) Dany moves to act and protect the people who followed her all the way from Essos from being slaughtered by zombies. You know, I’ve just got a bad feeling about her intentions. Seems pretty suspicious to me.
(15:28) Finally! We finally see some zombies in this zombie apocalypse showdown! For a given value of the word “see”!
Mind you, if you’re here for my commentary, this might not be the best thing, because a lot of this episode is “and there was more zombie fighting, and there was more zombie fighting, so on, so forth…”
(16:10) The power of Jaime’s love for Brienne gives him enough fighting skills to assist her in combat despite missing his dominant hand. Essentially, a few training sessions with Bronn resolved Jaime’s physical difficulties arising from missing his fucking hand. Book!Jaime has trouble lacing up his clothes, rolling up letters, climbing ladders, crawling, things like that. I’m having trouble remembering similar from show!Jaime since, what, season four? And absolutely no trouble remembering the use of Jaime’s prosthetic hand as a gag mid-fight scene.
(16:17) Dragons first show up here. This is shown in closest proximity to Jaime, who had a bit of a run-in with Dany and Drogon last season. In a better structured show, this becomes a moment that shows how Jaime’s opinion of Daenerys and her use of power has changed over the course of that intervening season. Something that shows that even if the physical circumstances are very similar, the context of being in the middle of a battle with a woman spraying dragonfire on the ground has changed.
(16:47) Also in a better-written show, this moment where Sansa and Arya watch the dragons effectively barbecuing huge numbers of wights is where they realise “oh, holy shit, we really would have been fucked if Daenerys didn’t decide to help us.” Note that this is not exclusive of the realisation that Dany could do serious damage to a city or opposing army of regular human beings the exact same way.
(18:18) A wall of white fog advances over the battlefield. This is bad, as it further reduces visibility. Also something something Night King.
(19:55) Dolorous Edd is the first of the second-string cleanout to die.
(20:05) Sansa enters the crypts here, and we follow her through the darkness for fifteen seconds before getting a shot of, you know, the room she’s looking at. Sansa’s back isn’t doing much emoting. This is not like the shot of Dany’s back in 6.09, where the fighting in Meereen in the background gives context to the facial expressions we’re not seeing, generating tension for when we do actually get to see her face and the details of her reaction. This is just fifteen seconds of a woman’s back in a hallway too dark to see much at all. We don’t need to see every step Sansa takes in the hallway to understand she’s walking through the hallway. This can be, and should have been, tightened up.
I hate that I keep saying it, but it keeps fucking happening. Edit your show!
(20:41) In a similar vein, we don’t need thirty seconds of Sansa walking through the room and Tyrion walking through the room in order to establish that these characters are going to meet and exchange information. The actual ten-second unspoken exchange between Sansa, Tyrion and Missandei works well, though, and it’s something that works specifically because of the skill of the actors.
(22:55) Tactical situation – retreat into Winterfell itself. After most of the ground forces have been smashed. Flippin’ genius. Dany and Jon are flying through some icy fog and undead dragon noises.
(23:08) This aerial shot of the Unsullied protecting the retreat with their unsurpassed discipline would have been much more effective if the subject matter was visible. I am watching this in a darkened room, face inadvisably close to my computer, and I still can’t really tell what’s going on beyond movement in unison.
(23:28) Ah, you see, Jon calls out for Dany in the midst of battle, but Dany is focused on her goals. Another worrying sign. Everyone make your firebreaks!
(26:59) Tactical situation – trenches unlit. Nothing’s going to make the tactics any better here, and I don’t think the showrunners are even trying to balance the Rule of Cool with tactical plausibility, but they can string together action scenes. While those actions scenes inevitably reflect an ethos of “we’re going to make this as awesome as we possibly can” rather than “we’re going to use the rules of the setting we’ve established to make an awesome scene,” the only thing the fight scenes are suffering from are the fact that I don’t care about these characters any more. And that’s not a problem with the fight scenes.
(28:45) You know, if it was possible for a Watsonian character to be a Doylist MVP, I’m nominating Melisandre just for lighting the episode for us.
(30:02) “At least we’re already in a crypt.” I think that might have been the first joke of the episode! Seriously, though, it’s been half an hour before we had any gallows humour.
(30:37) This is actually related to my problems with Sansa this episode, and the marked contrast between her now and her back in season two. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that she’s as bad as Cersei was during the Battle of the Blackwater by any means. Nevertheless, the writers seem to think that Sansa’s grim appraisal of the situation is clear-eyed and praiseworthy. As she says, “It’s the most heroic thing we can do right now, look the truth in the face.” (At 31:05.)
What Sansa got better, even in “Blackwater” (written by GRRM), was the importance of keeping up morale. Sansa here is not a comforting or inspirational figure. It’s a bit of a slap in the face that this character, who was so good at giving small bits of comfort to others when she had nothing else to give and because there was nothing else she could do, has gone backwards.
(31:44) Missandei points out, quite rightly, that without Dany’s assistance this battle would already be lost. In spite of being right, and clearly so, this doesn’t actually provoke any re-evaluation of attitude. It’s just a one-liner. It doesn’t mean anything.
(32:51) This Theon and Bran scene, seriously. Alfie Allen has been consistently Too Good For This since season three, and here he is in a scene with a character directed to show minimal emotion. It’s not a good contrast.
Related problem: it is incredibly hard to relate to a character who is totally unaffected by sitting out as bait for the unkillable superzombie while his family are fighting and potentially dying and the world potentially ending.
(33:54) More than half an hour into this final battle, we’re at last seeing the Night’s King and the zombie dragon.
(36:09) Tactical situation – zombies are now charging the walls. Dragons intermittently swooping around but largely ineffective.
(38:55) We’re even past most of the dodgy tactics, now, and we’re seeing our characters on the losing side of the fight. The show’s doing a good job of conveying this right now. Like I said earlier, I’m finding these scenes unsatisfying because the character development earlier has resulted in me honestly not caring very much.
(39:55) I didn’t comment on the first shot, but now it’s a bit more prominent, I’m also glad that the showrunners remembered that Sandor has fire-related trauma. As in, this isn’t a matter of cowardice, this is a matter of being overwhelmed by PTSD.
(41:39) “We’re fighting Death! We can’t beat Death!” “Tell [Arya] that!” I’m going to be generous and count that as foreshadowing, or at least intentional dramatic irony. Guess what this makes this statement! That’s right! The FIRST bit of foreshadowing directly and in hindsight unambiguously related to Arya’s defeat of the Night King. (No, Melisandre’s “eyes” speech is not foreshadowing that meets that criteria. That’s a blatant retcon.) 42 minutes into the episode where she kills him.
(42:10) Lyanna Mormont is the second of our second-string cleanout to die. It’s slow, painful, and gruesome. You can hear the cracking. This show certainly is edgy.
(42:57) Hey, my favourite shots of the episode! After a lot of murky flying through icy fog, the dragon chase breaks into the clear moonlight above the clouds. It’s just nice to look at, and a good way to kick into the actual dragon fight. Reorients things effectively.
Just…try not to pay attention to how neither Dany’s nor Jon’s hair is moving much in the breeze.
(44:03) Arya starts sneaking through the wight-infested halls of Winterfell here.
(46:26) Some of Arya’s blood drips on the stone floor. The zombie hears that. Just to establish the level of senses we’re talking about.
(48:33) And four and a half minutes later, scene change. No dialogue. No idea how this affected the broader tactical situation except in Arya’s continued survival. While I understand the value of having a tense scene of a main character sneaking through the halls of their own home in fear for their life and increasingly unsure how long they can keep it up, four and a half minutes? That’s about half the amount of time as we spent watching the fight outside of Winterfell.
The cut to the crypts establishes that the fighting has reached the entrance of the crypt.
(49:50) And for contrast, that scene watching the characters in the crypt realise that the fighting had come to them took a minute and a half. Again, no dialogue, but there were more characters whose reactions we could see.
(52:11) You know, with the sheer number of wights it was established the defenders were facing, and the apparent disintegration of the defending forces, I’m kind of wondering why there are so many empty rooms about the place.
(52:30) Third to die in our second-string cleanout is Beric Dondarrion, who was stabbed a few minutes ago in a do-not-pass moment to save Arya and Sandor.
(53:36) Melisandre here retcons the eyes speech to mean that Arya will kill the Night King. 52 minutes into the episode where Arya kills the Night King. There was never any reason to think of that speech as relating to the Night King until right this second. It is a blatant retcon.
This is bullshit. Or tripe, but whatever it is, it came out of a bovine’s digestive system. More when the moment itself comes, but for the moment let’s focus on how this affects Melisandre’s characterisation.
Again, since she mete Arya in season three, her storyline has been focused on Stannis and Jon. Once Stannis failed, she brought Jon back from the dead. Last season, she showed up to Dany’s plot basically to say “hey, Jon’s important, the relationship between Dany and Jon is important, and I’ll see you all for my death scene next season!” And now it turns out, on the strength of one interaction, more than four seasons ago, Melisandre’s story was actually about Arya? Without any sort of emotional reaction from Melisandre, to boot. If you’re thinking this isn’t playing fair with character development…I think you’re right.
(54:03) “What do we say to the God of Death?” “Not today.” That is the only good thing the show does with that. The only thing. And even that, I think, is laden with a misunderstanding of the evil the Night King represents in the book – the Others of the books are slavers who force humans and animals alike to do their bidding even after death. Which is how Dany maintains a thematic connection to the primary threat of the series even when she’s not on the same continent as the action. Her work in Slaver’s Bay is prep work for the end of the series.
(54:56) The fight now arrives at the godswood.
(55:13) Here we see undead!Viserion’s fire blast through the walls of Winterfell.
(56:21) I haven’t mentioned it for a while, but it is seriously nearly impossible to see what’s going on. Vital, climactic dragon fight, and we don’t actually get to see it.
(58:04) The Night King tanks a full on blast of dragon fire. He can do this because reasons. And these reasons are “the showrunners wanted to subvert expectations.”
(59:03) Well, now that a faceful of dragonfire has failed for reasons unknown, it’s time for Jon to step in. Okay, that makes a good amount of sense. Jon’s entire storyline has dealt with the threat of the White Walkers. Hell, Jon and the Night King even had their staredown back in season five. So clearly it’s time for Jon to take on the Night King directly.
(59:46) Nope! Jon does not fight the Night King. Instead he gets surrounded by garden variety wights.
(1:00:00) This little breathing space where everyone the protagonists have managed to kill stands right back up again does work well as a darkest hour.
(1:01:31) Meanwhile, in the crypts, nobody has apparently realised that the dead bodies there might also be raised. Also nobody down there has any idea how to fight or any weapons on hand, so this was well thought through all round.
(1:04:22) Jorah Mormont out of fucking nowhere to rescue Dany.
(1:07:10) Ramin Djawadi here starts his bid for the real MVP of the episode. Though we all know that he’s the MVP of the entire season.
(1:09:01) Try to ignore how Jon’s ducking behind stone pillars to avoid Viserion’s fire, despite this exact fire blasting through those exact walls fifteen minutes ago.
(1:11:21) Alfie Allen, still too good for this.
(1:12:57) Jon comes face to face with zombie Viserion. Ah, okay! So if he’s not going to kill the Night King, he’s at least going to take out a zombie dragon, right? Well. Not happy with that as a culmination of his story, but, you know, still damned impressive.
(1:13:02) Jon ducking behind this little ridge of rubble here isn’t quite as bad as Indy hopping in that fridge…but it’s getting there.
(1:13:25) Fourth to die in the second-string cleanout is Theon.
(1:15:31) Oh. So Jon’s only going to scream at Viserion. Not fight him. Um. That’s…not at all a satisfying conclusion to Jon’s arc vis a vis the White Walkers. Not remotely.
Seven and a half seasons of buildup, and what Jon accomplishes in the fight itself is roughly equivalent to the achievements of any given surviving named character who participated in the battle. I don’t like “the main characters do everything,” but the main characters have got to do something. In particular, when a main character spends the entirety of his arc focusing on the one context, it really does feel unfair to the viewers when he doesn’t play a meaningful part in the resolution of that plot.
I will say this much: my expectations were certainly subverted. I expected the writers to play fair with storytellling conventions of setup and payoff.
(1:15:41) So. The wights could hear a drop of blood fall from across a room. The White Walkers can’t hear a girl running and screaming halfway across a forest. And this is honestly one of the least of the problems here.
(1:15:52) And so Arya kills the Night King. Arya. Who has had no meaningful story connection with the fight against the White Walkers. She was the last member of House Stark to return to Winterfell and the least involved in the preparations to fight. This comes perhaps a little bit out of left field.
The showrunners later stated that they chose Arya to kill the Night King specifically to subvert expectations. Meaning that they set up seven and a half seasons of other people being more involved with this plot and Arya not being very involved with this plot only to throw it away for a “fooled you!” While I’m sure it was satisfying to the writers, it’s not very much fun for a viewer. When we invest years in watching characters realise the extent of their problems and seek to solve them, having the writers yank the payoff away right at the very end with a “nope! Someone else solved it!’ is not a good return.
Plus, while “wow, wouldn’t have picked that!” is the end result, it’s not the “I wouldn’t have picked that!” which comes from creative use of foreshadowing and careful structural and thematic development so that everything falls into place in an unexpected yet logical way. This is the “I wouldn’t have picked that!” which resulted from there being nothing to pick at all. It’s a plot twist divorced from the plot.
(1:17:46) Fifth to die in the second-string cleanout is Jorah Mormont. Emilia Clarke doing her damnedest, as well. In a scene where everyone’s standing around like stunned mullets, Dany’s open grief is quite the contrast.
(1:18:59) I like the shot of the dawn here, which really helps to convey that yes, this is over and done.
Structurally, should it have been over and done? Almost certainly not! You could definitely do some scouring of the Shire, the post-action action which demonstrates the effects of the central conflict on our leads, but in terms of plot, this should have been it. There is no conflict greater in scale than this. The fight against the White Walkers should not have been a distraction from the fight over the Iron Throne. The fact that it was is just….did the showrunners read the books?
(1:19:45) Sixth and last to die in the second-string cleanout is Melisandre. Which closes out the episode.
Next time, the season starts to go really off the rails.

Is Two-Day Delivery Taking Too Long? How about 30 minutes?
Ivan Ip
In 2005, Amazon launched Amazon Prime. For a small fee of $79 per year, Amazon Prime members were eligible for free two-day shipping on select products. This program was a success and was seen as a must-have for millions of online shoppers. Amazon changed consumer’s expectations of what a “timely delivery” represents. Other large retailers such as Target, Costco, and Walmart would also follow suit and offer two-day free shipping for their customers. Today, Amazon has offered one-day shipping to many customers around the world by increasing the number of warehouses and personnel.
youtube
Amazon led the way and changed consumers’ expectations of what it means to receive “fast” delivery. According to Deloitte’s 31st annual holiday survey of consumer spending and trends, only 42 percent of shoppers considered 3-4 day shipping “fast” which represents a 21 percent drop from 2015’s 63 percent. In fact, 83% of shoppers considered fast shipping to mean two days or less.
On August 31st, 2020, Amazon received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to operate and test its Prime Air delivery drones. This approval gave Amazon the ability to use drones to “safely and efficiently deliver packages to customer”. Amazon would become one of the only companies, besides USPS and Alphabet-owned Wing, to utilize drones beyond the visual line of sight from the operator.
Tumblr media
Not only does this development explore the emerging technology and usefulness of small drones, but it is likely that if Prime Air is successful, Amazon will be able to reduce their delivery time to less than one day. Amazon’s goal in 2013 was to delivery packages on their customers’ doorsteps within 30 minutes of purchase. Similar to the introduction of Amazon Prime and its two-day shipping in 2005, Amazon hopes that by decreasing the shipping time and costs, they will be able to increase the number of orders and purchases by incentivizing customers to utilize Amazon for all of their necessities, impulse buys, and desires. Yet this new concept doesn’t come without limitations. Amazon’s drone system will only be tested and utilized in areas with low population density and only with packages under 5 pounds.
Of course, this new technology doesn’t come without its fair share of competitors. Walmart has also announced that it has began to pilot the use of drones for grocery and household items in North Carolina. Walmart is one of Amazon’s largest competitors and hope to secure customers with its low prices and large selection.
I believe customers will no longer accept two day delivery times anymore. Why would you when you have one-day delivery options? What if you need something right now but can’t make a trip to the nearest grocery store, retailer, or mall? It is critical that Amazon targets not only customers who can afford to wait a few days but also the customers who are willing to pay more to get an item now and impulse buy. It is a reason why goPuff, a delivery company that focuses on one-hour delivery at extremely marked up prices, is so successful. They aren’t targeting the customers who think two days ahead for their groceries and supplies. They target the customers who want to eat ice cream while watching Netflix or found out they ran out of alcohol. It shouldn’t be a surprise that customers are more likely to order from GoPuff during experiential events or gatherings such as the Super Bowl or Game of Thrones and less likely to order during family-centric holidays such as Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving. The typical customers purchases from a simple desire rather than from a planned need.
Tumblr media
It is this customer base that Amazon attempts to gain more customers. If Amazon is your current go-to for shopping, movies, videos, and music, why can’t it be your go-to for your impulse purchases?

A Simple, Effective Way to Ease Stress and Anxiety
Tumblr media
Americans work longer hours, take fewer vacations, and retire later than anyone in the industrialized world. It is no wonder we are among the most stressed-out people on the planet. We also have a bad habit of dealing with the pressure and anxiety we encounter in unhealthy ways. We eat too much and drink too much and pretend we're in control. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Medication nation
In an effort to deal with agitation and unease, more and more Americans are turning to prescription pills. Brands like Zoloft, Paxil, and Cymbalta have become household names, with Americans spending tens of billions of dollars each year on drugs designed to treat anxiety and depression. But like all prescription medications, these powerful mood-altering drugs have a laundry list of unpleasant side effects, from nausea and insomnia to fatigue and sexual dysfunction. There must be a better way...
Meditation nation
The one silver lining in an otherwise ominous sky is the recent rediscovery of an ancient form of stress relief. Whether used for spiritual enlightenment or emotional healing, meditation has been a part of human history for thousands of years. Although it originated in Asia, meditation is now universal, appearing in cultures the world over. With that said, the practice is less popular in the Western world, where it has struggled to gain mainstream acceptance... Until recently, that is.
According to a 2007 U.S. Census Bureau Survey, nearly 10 percent of the adult population practices some form of meditation, up from only 8 percent in 2002. As a result, a growing number of yoga schools and medical centers are opening their doors to the 20-plus million Americans who use meditation on a regular basis.
Research findings
Although Western medicine has long questioned the benefits of meditation, it has been forced to reevaluate its position in recent years as scientific evidence of meditation's healthfulness has come to light. In one study completed at Johns Hopkins University, researchers found that meditation helped relieve anxiety, pain, and moderate depression in some patients. Another study found a 10 to 20 percent improvement in symptoms of depression for subjects who meditated regularly. Those numbers are similar to the positive effects of antidepressants, with far fewer side effects!
What is meditation?
Most Westerners have only a vague idea of what meditation is and how it works. They might know, for instance, that it involves concentrated focus upon a sound, object, movement, etc. in order to increase awareness of the present moment. While others believe that meditation consists of simply clearing the mind and shutting the world out. And the truth is that both of those opinions are correct. Meditation can involve deep thinking or almost no thinking at all. Some of the most common ways to meditate include:
· Guided meditation: Also known as visualization or guided imagery, this popular method of meditation involves relaxing mental images of places and situations. Practitioners are instructed to incorporate as many of their senses as possible, including sights, smells, sounds, and textures of soothing objects and environments. Because it takes time to paint a comforting mental picture, newcomers may benefit from expert instruction by a teacher or guide.
· Mindfulness meditation: Rather than trying to escape from ourselves or our current predicament, this type of meditation helps us increase our awareness by living in the moment. How? During a mindfulness meditation session, you focus on what you experience, such as your breathing, passing thoughts, or emotions. However, you do not linger on the details of any of them, but rather let them pass without judgment.
· Mantra meditation: Popular in the Buddhist faith, when used for relaxation purposes mantra meditation consists of simply repeating a calming word or phrase to keep distracting thoughts at bay. Although this simple technique can be practiced anytime, anywhere, it can take many months of practice to stop your mind from wandering during mantra recitations. Beginners are instructed to focus intently on the sound of their own voices in order to block out everything else.
· Transcendent meditation: One of the most widely practiced forms of meditation, the transcendent variety also involves mantras. What distinguishes it from the aforementioned technique is that the mantra recitations are not used to block everything out, but rather to slow mental functioning to relaxing levels. At last count, more than 10 million people practiced transcendent meditation around the world.
· Heart rhythm meditation: With a focus on controlled breathing, this method seeks to coordinate the breath and the heartbeat to reduce anxiety and stress. Practitioners utilize several different rhythmic breathing patterns where inhalations and exhalations are made at equal intervals and beats. For example, the "swinging breath" method features 8 beats in and 8 beats out. Use of full lung capacity is imperative, as is concentration on the heartbeat, which should slow with breathing into more consistent patterns.
Yoga: Although it is not the focus of the discipline, meditation is involved in most yoga exercises and techniques. From breathing exercises to stretches and poses, yogis and their students use meditation to develop more flexible bodies and calm minds. Balance and concentration is achieved by focusing on the moment and shutting out the world for awhile. Those who are able to master basic meditation techniques generally progress more rapidly in yoga training for those very reasons.
Tai chi: Probably the most active way to achieve relaxation through meditation, tai chi is a gentle Chinese martial art that consists of a series of slow, graceful movements that are performed while practicing deep breathing. Commonly referred to as moving meditation, tai chi promotes both physical and mental relaxation. The popular Chinese pastime has also be shown to increase concentration and focus in those who suffer from anxiety disorders.
Common features
Generally speaking, meditation is an umbrella term that describes any type of focused activity that helps produce a state of deep relaxation. So while there may be different ways of getting there, all types of meditation share the following features:
· Focused attention: A fundamental component of meditation, focusing your attention on a sound, image, or activity helps clear the mind, which can produce a state of profound relaxation.
· Deep breathing: One of the simplest and most effective ways to relax is to simply take deep, slow breaths from the abdomen. This helps reduce the movement of the neck, shoulder, and upper chest by shifting it to the diaphragm, where it belongs. It also helps the lungs take in more oxygen, which has a calming effect on the body and mind.
· A quiet environment. If your goal is to quiet your mind, it helps to be in a silent setting with few distractions. For obvious reasons, we strongly suggest that you keep cell phones, computers, TVs, and other electronics out of these areas.
· A comfortable position. Some types of meditation are quite strict about body positioning, while others are far less formal. When practicing on your own, use a comfortable position that helps you get the most out of your meditation.
Health benefits
As different as they may be, all of the aforementioned techniques can help you achieve inner peace. This state of calm and repose has salubrious effects that go far beyond stress reduction and anxiety relief. When practiced on a regular basis, people who meditate report the following health benefits:
· Lower blood pressure
· Reduction of negative emotions
· Less fear and anxiety
· Better stress management skills
· Improved mental concentration and focus
· Better sleep
· Decreased muscle tension
· More energy
· Better memory
· Fewer colds and minor illnesses
Daily meditation
One of the most appealing aspects of meditation is that it can be practiced wherever you are - whether at home, at work, or on the road. But to get the maximum possible benefits of meditation, we recommend daily sessions for improved physical and emotional wellbeing. With that in mind, here are a few simple ways you can practice meditation on your own.
Breathing. Whether it lasts ten minutes or two hours, breathing in and out in a slow, controlled way can help relieve stress and anxiety and promote healthy sleep.
Progressive muscle relaxation. A slightly more advanced technique, progressive relaxation involves focusing your attention on certain parts of your body, particularly on sore or tense areas such as the hands or feet, to provide relief. When combined with deep breathing, it has an impressive track record.
Repeat a mantra. Focusing on the sound your own voice as you repeat a certain word or phrase to relax is a time-test technique that crosses many different cultures, religions, and healing disciplines. You are free to create your own mantra or to pick a popular one from an established form of mantra meditation, such as transcendent meditation.
Walk and meditate. A healthy and efficient way to unwind, combining walking with meditation helps clear the mind and cleanse the body at the same time. One easy way to accomplish this is to focus on your body's movements instead of on the destination. Slow the pace a bit and breathe deeply as you step to get the most out of your daily constitutional.

Please note that these are the results of the manga reader poll. Anime only watchers are suggested not to read if you do not wish to be spoiled about certain events! Anime only viewers, click here to view your poll results!
RATE THE EPISODE 290 Responses
Tumblr media
The final episode received mid to high ratings overall, with 74.5% of participants rating it at a 5. No doubt the anime staff did a great job closing the season.
Greatest ending of a season ever.
i cant watch the ocean scene without crying so id say it was a pretty good ep
This episode was beyond boring and the ending was captivating, but still not enough to make up for such a boring episode.
WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? 299 Responses
Tumblr media
Several of the preferred moments in the episode took place at long-awaited ocean. 40.1% of participants were most impacted by Eren’s despairing words while looking across the sea. 18.1% enjoyed seeing exchanged smiles between Armin and Mikasa, and 14.7% most loved the first time the Survey Corps laid eyes on the ocean.
Rarely have I seen a scene so beautiful that had so much episodes of set-up. The ocean scene lived up to the hype. EMA finally got to the see the Umi
The ocean scene was more beautiful than I could've imagined.
Floch was spitting FIRE!!
At this point I'm just glad they did justice to everyone finally seeing the ocean. The scene seemed to fall a little flat in the manga - not too badly, but enough that it didn't hit me the way I thought it would. The extra build up the anime added, along with seeing it in motion and hearing the voice acting, gave the anime version a lot more punch.
DID PIXIS AND HISTORIA MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION BY CHOOSING TO REVEAL THE TRUTH TO THE PUBLIC? 298 Responses
Tumblr media
Pixis and Historia decided it was best to share the truth of the outside world with the public, no matter the response. 93% of participants believed this was the right call, while a smaller percent thought otherwise or were unsure.
They did it, but it was just kinda spilled to the public and caused a lot of uproar. I dunno if letting the newspaper report on it was the best idea.
WHO DO YOU THINK WROTE THE “INTENTS FOR THE FUTURE” EXCERPT IN THE EYE CATCH? 294 Responses
Tumblr media
The mid-episode information card showed an entry about “Intent for the Future” in response to the truth of the world. 49.7% of participants believe the talk of diplomacy implied Armin was the author, whereas 16.3% believe it was Hange. 13.9% think the contemplative tone may have been Eren’s doing.
I think the "intents for the future" is written by Hange, since it says "watashi" and only they have "the duty" to come up with a better plan than the rumbling.
WHAT WOULD YOU DO FIRST IF YOU’VE NEVER SEEN OR KNEW ABOUT THE OCEAN BEFORE? 294 Responses

Had there been no prior real world awareness of the ocean, 60.9% of participants would choose to slowly dip their feet in the water during their first encounter. 17.7% would rather observe the strange discovery from afar, and 11.2% would contemplate the meaning of life.
WHOSE INITIAL REACTION TO THE SEA WAS YOUR FAVORITE? 299 Responses
Tumblr media
The characters’ first reactions varied upon their initial encounter with the sea. 30.4% of participants most enjoyed Armin’s marveled gaze at his most anticipated dream, while 22.7% liked Mikasa’s surprised reaction the most. Eren’s less impressed and discouraged expressions were most favored by 18.1% of participants.
Armin and Mikasa at the ocean scene was one of the BEST THINGS EVER.
I thought the animation in the first half was a little weak, but damn, I could watch Armin gaze fondly upon the ocean for hours. The animation there was on point.
Armin and Mikasa were so cute in the ocean scene, smiling and blushing!!! Seeing Armin's happy tears after finally seeing the ocean was really moving too!! <3 I'm sad though Eren couldn't enjoy it the same way as them...
HOW WELL DID THE ANIME TEAM ADAPT CHAPTER 90? 295 Responses
Tumblr media
The episode only covered chapter 90, but a majority of participants believed the anime did a faithful adaptation of the manga, with 78.6% saying it was near perfect.
It was fucking perfect and I even dare to say it was better than in the manga. Animation, background music, characters expressions, seiyuus - these made this episode so great. I really cried when I watched and listened to Eren talking about freedom and enemy, what didnt happen to me when I read it. I could feel his deep sadness and it was better shown how much he's changed. Kudos to everyone at studio WIT involved in snk and especially this episode
The pacing was a bit too slow. They could’ve picked up the pace a bit by maybe adding one more anime only scene. Also, they should have left off with Falco.
HOW WELL DID THE ANIME DEPICT THE FIRST MOMENT OF SEEING THE OCEAN? 296 Responses
Tumblr media
Finally seeing the ocean animated in full color, 54.7% of participants thought the moment exceeded the manga version with the captivating visuals and awed expressions. 38.2% compared it equally emotional as the manga version while 5.1% were pleased but preferred the moment in the manga.
They made it look so wholesome I nearly forgot Eren’s suffering
Idk I didn't see because there was water in my line of sight. That happens every time since the episode that broke my heart.
It felt so unreal, they did an incredible job of transcribing from the point of view of the characters and I think I felt at least as upset as they were by discovering the beautiful graphics of the ocean.
It was underwhelming and I didn’t care for the scene at all
IN THE ANIME, EREN GETS OFF OF HIS HORSE AND TOUCHES THE IMMOBILE TITAN. WHAT’D YOU THINK OF THIS CHANGE? 299 Responses
Tumblr media
The anime altered the moment Eren sees the immobile titan by including him dismounting his horse and physically touching its head. 74.9% of participants thought the moment properly captured Eren’s newfound sympathy for the titans as fellow compatriots. 9.7% believe it made him look more sympathetic than in reality, and 5.7% didn’t think the change was needed.
It made more clean to the audience that Eren new target/enemy are not the titans anymore, now feeling pity for their compatriots. And his templance and tone remind us Kruger/Grisha presence on him, his hatred for Marley.
I was pinned on the spot, and I had to look at this passage several times to be sure of having seen well. Wow, Eren touched a titan and considers him "one of theirs".  This passage was made without special emphasis, as if it was normal that Eren had compassion for a titan, and it really shaken me.
I think it was a rly nice addiction but I dont think its about Eren symphatizing with the titans, rather to me it shows Eren's melancholy of facing the truth about the titans. He wasnt feeling sympathy or pity for that titan, just the truth that it was once a person, the truth outside the walls, beyond the ocean.
it was an odd change but it kinda illustrated just how much of an impact memories/paths are having on eren’s mind
It was a bit cheesy
Eren is now the titan whisperer
HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT THE FEW FRAMES OF THE ATTACK ON LIBERIO IN THE END CREDITS? 297 Responses
Tumblr media
The ending credits revealed some scenes of the Attack on Liberio and its aftermath. 64.3% of participants felt the inclusion was a good way to build suspense for the final season, while 24.2% think the scenes were too subtle for anime viewers to react and specifically catered to manga readers.
As for the ending itself, it's a good thing they released extra pics, but the main issue; if you follow the anime, is this: the screencaps don't show where it's located, not when these events take place. It could take place on Paradis, it could mean the mean Marleys are attacking in full force again, or if we're this far in the manga, it could be assumed the characters at the sea have no choice but to become monsters to fight the monsters of the outside world... which goes against what the manga portrays when you take into account there's been 9 chapters dedicated to show the POV from the other side of the ocean.
THERE ARE A COUPLE SCENES IN THE END CREDITS THAT HAVEN’T BEEN ILLUSTRATED IN THE MANGA. DO YOU BELIEVE THESE ARE FUTURE PANELS THAT WILL APPEAR LATER IN THE STORY? 297 Responses
Tumblr media
There were a few scenes in the credits that were not illustrated in the manga. 53.2% of participants believe these will be future panels in the upcoming manga chapters, but 38% aren’t quite sure. A smaller 8.8% think the scenes are just for show or anime only and will not make a comeback in the manga.
WHO IS THE GIRL STUDENT IN THE UNIFORM? 296 Responses
Tumblr media
One of the unillustrated scenes showed a girl in a school uniform among other students. 37.8% think the student is an Eldian, and 35.8% think she is Marleyan. 19.6% believe this is the future depicting a modern-day student. Will she be shown again? Some believe this is someone we already knew.
Also, I'm leaning towards the theory that the girl in the uniform is Lady Tybur when she attended a private school.
The girl student in the uniform is likely Ms Tybur (the Warhammer titan), as the school looks quite prestigious, and they are the only high class characters of importance in Marley.  I hope this means that we might get a bit more on her character in the anime adaptation.
WITH THE PV CONFIRMATION THAT THE 4TH SEASON WILL BE THE FINAL ONE, WHAT’S YOUR GUESS FOR WHEN THE MANGA WILL END? 298 Responses
Tumblr media
The brief preview announcement of the 4th season set to release confirmed it would be the anime’s final season. With the release date in the fall of next year, 44.6% of manga reading participants believe the manga series will conclude in mid to late 2020. 22.8% think the manga will end early in the beginning of next year, and 14.8% believe Isayama and the animation studio will work together to release the finale of both the manga and anime around the same time. As of recently, Isayama thinks he has about a year left to complete his story, but only time will tell when it actually ends.
ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS ON THE EPISODE?
Not your usual beach episode lol. Wished the stinger is they show Falco looking up on sky in Fort Slava, but maybe it's too revealing for anime onlies?
I can't believe we've come this far already. Everything was beautifully done, the end credits were just absolutely poignant and the extra scenes have only made me more impatient for more Manga chapters.
It's probably the episode of Snk that caused the most emotion in me. Eren's seiyuu especially, but also Armin's were really excellent. The melancholy of Eren's voice, and the hope so fragile and so beautiful of Armin, appeared to me strikingly thanks to that. The separation that prefigures in EMA trio, and the dreams that break as they face what they had sought from the beginning pierced me.
That piano score that played throughout the end credits...Sure Sawano you can tear out my heart, this show's gotten me used to it anyway…
Also can I just say Mikasa in the ocean was really fucking adorable? Because she was. I've always had this headcanon that she would love the ocean because the half of her that isn't an Ackerman is from the ""East Sea Clan"" and so I would think coastal life and seafaring would be in her blood. This episode has only strengthened this headcanon for me. :)
I miss Erwin. I don't think that'll ever change, but duuudes Floch made me cry every harder. He's such a lost kid and he's alone in his grief. No one should be alone 😭
years of waiting and god has finally gifted us with a masterpiece.
The anime-only scenes were a very nice touch, and added to the emotion of the arc. Considering what's become of Eren and Floch (ugh) now, the scene where Eren touches the Titan, followed by Floch hanging behind for a moment, seemed quite telling. Can't wait to see the next season (and all the death and destruction that unfortunately accompanies it).
Honestly this season, and potentially the entire series was ruined for me  because of how they handled Uprising. It was an alright adaptation, with some admittedly outstanding scenes, but the first part of the season really killed my hype for the second part.
Mikasa’s smile to Armin was the only part of this episode I thought was done more effectively than in the manga. She’s been through so much; it was sweet to see her out of her element in a GOOD way, WITH her family there. This scene cemented her as my 3rd favorite character.
I picked up on the little, subtle changes, and I really enjoyed them. WIT did an amazing job on this episode, and it was fairly lived up to.
There wasn't much filler, but I liked what they did with adding Grisha's distorted facial expression and how they conveyed Eren's at the end of the first half. Also nice Floch filler where he asks why the SC doesn't cull that titan lol.
Hitch broke my heart ;-;
I’m not ready. Somebody save us! I don’t want hobo Eren yet!
Truly amazing. It was really refreshing to see the characters taking a break from all the gore and enjoy the moment. Great ending.

India Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Market Dynamics (including market size, share, trends, forecast, growth, forecast, and industry analysis)
The Indian Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) market is projected to witness robust demand in the near future. This is mainly because of the extensively rising domestic crime rate across the country and the aggravating implication across different industries, including agriculture, product delivery, and surveying & mapping. India registered over 3 million crime incidences in 2016, expanding at a remarkable rate from 2.2 million incidences in 2015. This is further persuading the government to choose sophisticated technologies and devices to reduce the crime rate in the nation. Additionally, several initiatives and programs introduced by the government, such as the "Make in India" program to support the manufacturing of products in India itself, will directly propel the market demand. In addition, the growing security concerns and terrorist attacks further strengthen the market size. Furthermore, the widespread outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has positively influenced the market growth owing to their active usage by the local authorities and government to offer enormous services such as disinfecting contaminated areas, managing crowds, and offering medical supplies and essentials food products. This extensive usage of drones in different operations will lessen the physical contact between humans, thus decreasing the chances of spreading the virus. On the other edge of the spectrum, the insufficient air traffic management for UAVs and the scarcity of skilled & trained personnel to operate UAVs are hindering the market growth.

Vodafone Report on Cellular Connected Drones
Vodafone UK has published the findings of a study they commissioned regarding the potential benefits to the UK of safe and secure drone use.  Working with WPI Economics, the report uses five case studies as its basis and draws some interesting conclusions regarding its potential in the UK. Whilst acknowledging the potential of drones to improve productivity, aid the emergency services, and reduce workplace dangers, much emphasis is placed on the public perception of the threat that they pose.  Recent polling suggests that 80% of the public would support wider drone use if increased security measures were in place.  They cite the fact that the greatest benefits that drones have to offer come from flights Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) – a fact widely acknowledged in commercial circles.  Cellular connected drones that can be tracked and controlled beyond the VLOS restrictions and posited as one of the potential solutions. Cellular connectivity allows for Unmanned Traffic Management Systems to be introduced as well as allowing locations tracked and the establishment of No-Fly Zones that cold force drones to hover or land in cases of an incursion. Public opinion on the positive potential of drones was reported to below.  A fact which the report claims stems from a lack of understanding. It is felt that ‘increased familiarity with drone usage can drive more positive perceptions’.  The poll that Vodafone carried out on more than 2000 adults suggested that public support was far higher than average when drone usage was linked to the emergency services, agriculture and construction. So this led them to base the report on five case studies  - Drones delivering medical goods  - Monitoring and responding to emergency situations  - Reporting to fires  - Surveying and monitoring construction  - Improving agriculture productivity Each of these case studies aims to identify and quantify the benefits of drone use in these sectors, showing substantial advantages over traditional methods. They make three recommendations to the UK government to ensure the establishment of safe and secure drone practices. Establishment of a blue light fund to allow emergency services and the NHS to trial drone use to see where benefits could be found  - Establish testing facilities for UTM and BVLOS operations  - Explore the value of cellular connectivity for establishing UTM systems and electronic conspicuity.  #cellularconnecteddrones #ukdronefuture #ukdronelaws #ukdronepilots #ukdrones #ukelectronicconspicuity #vodafonedronereport

Levi Ackerman: The Abuse Claim
Alright, so here I am with another long ass meta post. Only this time, this one is directed solely at the legend, Levi Ackerman himself. Yet again, I am seeing the “Levi is Abusive” mumbo jumbo and I have spent my two years in this fandom quiet about my opinions on this for the most part because I do not enjoy drama. However, after this last batch of Discourse™ that I have seen, I have been pushed beyond my ability to bite my tongue.
This is Part One to a two part meta, and this is me basically trying to shine light on Levi’s actions a bit and why he behaves the way he does. In no way do I try to justify all of the shit he carries out so don’t think this is just a fangirl squeal post. I’m simply trying to better explain his character for the people who seem to think he is some kind of rage beast who beats kids for fun in his spare time.
I will be putting this under a Read More because it is extremely long and also contains spoilers. I’d also like to state that this would be best read from a computer or the mobile website as it contains a metric fuckton of manga panels used for reference (seriously use any other means outside of the mobile app to read this because the app will butcher this post and cut out a majority of the images). If you are sitting down to read this, please make sure you are comfy, cozy, and drinking a nice warm beverage. Now then,
DISCLAIMER: This is my personal opinion. In no way am I stating what I say here is completely accurate. if you disagree with my opinion, good for you! That’s your prerogative. However, If you are going to send me messages trying to argue points of view with me or send me hate messages because my opinion differs from your own; do us both a favor and just don’t even bother. WARNING: Major spoilers ahead.
First and foremost, this is the scene I see brought up the absolute most so I’d like to go ahead and address it first:
The Courtroom Scene:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jesus Christ, that’s pretty rough, right? I do not disagree. It’s sad that in order for Eren to be spared from a torturing death at the hands of the Military Police {or so is originally thought. Turns out the Reiss family wanted to eat him. Not much better of a fate though), he had to get the shit kicked out of him by Levi to prove a point. Which is exactly why this scene exists. It’s meant to show you just how extreme the measures needed to be in order to save Eren’s life.
Levi had to jump in and physically prove he was the only person capeable of leashing Eren’s power, and ending it if Eren ever went rogue (no pun intended). Levi had to show the court that he could keep Eren under control, and that he did not fear him because he had no reason to do so. Unlike the inexperienced MP’s and mere merchants who barked like cornered dogs at the mere sight of Eren.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This entire show is what saved Eren’s life and allowed him to join the Survey Corps. Does that make it right? No. It’s not supposed to be right. Levi never should have had to go to measures that extreme to keep a kid alive solely because of other’s ignorance and fear. But that is the world they live in and that is what it took to gain military custody of Eren.
SnK Visual Novel: Burning Bright in the Forests of the Night:
Levi beating Eren in the trial is described as “an extreme, cunning performance. But a necessary one”. He also thinks how they’re forced to make hard decisions all the time, and beating Eren is his last resort. “Ahh, what a load of bullshit. But there’s no choice. A soldier’s profession is to wield violence” - SOURCE
Some folks seem to forget that Eren understood the reasoning behind the action, that Levi DID NOT enjoy beating Eren, and that the plan WASN’T LEVI’S IDEA TO BEGIN WITH. It was Commander Erwin’s Orders. And also the fact that Levi felt so bad about how far it had gone, he actually point blank asked Eren if he resented him for it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want you all to keep in mind that this is the same man who shrugs off being called a mad-man and a monster. This same man sits down next to Eren and asks him if he hated him for what he did, and he wouldn’t have asked if "yes” wasn’t the answer he was expecting to hear. Levi would have completely understood if Eren told him that he indeed resented him. It’s what most people would expect after doing something like that. Levi was fully aware how fucked up that entire situation was and he wasn’t happy about having to be the one to do it, either.
Basically, he didn’t beat the kid for shits and giggles. He wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t quite literally the ONLY way to guarantee Eren’s survival.
Now then, onto the next one:
The Female Titan Arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have said it before and I will say it again, and again throughout this post: When Levi is backed into a corner, he usually turns towards just about any means to intimidate people in order to make things go his way.
Not only that, but in this situation here, he is pissed. With good reason too. The female titan is responsible for countless deaths of his comrades. She’s also an enemy of mankind. He’s venting his own emotional anger and also trying to intimidate the person controlling the titan (Annie) out of actively fighting them and surrendering instead. Logically speaking, I cannot call this behavior abusive. Especially since I know that if I were in his shoes, I’d be just as murderous.
His actions here backfire though. His terrifying words cause enough fear to make the female titan call a cohoard of other titans, and she risks being eaten as a way to try and escape while having another way to capture Eren. In my opinion, Levi’s actions here are the fuck up that costs the lives of his squad, and almost causes them to lose Eren as well. So when this happens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi most likely feels guilty. He watches Mikasa fight tooth an nail to try and retrieve Eren and instead of reeming her for obviously abandoning her post, disregarding orders, insulting his leadership, and insulting him personally; he chooses to let it all slide and fight along side her to retrieve Eren instead. Not only because he’s most likely aware that he crossed a serious line with his threatening speech toward the person controlling the female titan, but also because he is fully aware that Mikasa does infact resent him for kicking the shit out of Eren in the courtroom scene.
Tumblr media
So, oh so abusive Levi (yes I am being sarcastic) chooses to fight along side her to try and fix his own mistake and save his valuble subordinate, while easing the resentment of his other valuble comrade as well, and ends up shredding the female titan in the process. Mikasa sees this, and also sees a clear opportunity to take out the target. So, against Levi’s express orders, Mikasa goes in for the kill, damn near getting killed herself, and causing Levi to injure himself in the process of saving her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And even after this, Levi does not berate or even displine her. He simply gives her advice and tells her to focus on their objective. All while in a ton of pain and lugging Eren under his arm.
Tumblr media
Well now you may ask, “Well what about after this arc, Wolf?????? Surely he kicked her or punched her as punishment!!”. Hate to break it to you, but no. He simply tells her to learn from her mistakes and not to repeat them in his own blunt way as he is forced to sit on the sidelines thanks to said injury. That is all.
Tumblr media
And what about Eren? How did Levi react when they returned from their failed mission to capture the female titan? Did he blame Eren for making the wrong choice? Did he point fingers at anyone for the failure of the mission?
NOPE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, this could just be my interpretation, but I believe Levi’s line of “I’ve always been talkative.” is a jab at his own mistakes in talking too much in certain situations. Such as he little fear inducing speech with the female titan. Regardless though, Levi doesn’t point fingers at Eren for the mission failure or for making the choice he made.
Eren chose to trust his team and his Captain, and his Captains actions of speaking too much caused the shit storm that ensued afterwards. I honestly believe Levi blames himself entirely for the failure of that mission, and no one else. Not even Mikasa for disobeying orders because HE is the one who CHOSE to save her.
On to the next one!
The Uprising Arc:
Now I’m going to break this down into parts because so many people want to point out these scenes, so allow me to clarify:
PICKING THE MEMBERS OF HIS NEW SQUAD:
Tumblr media
Levi is basically stating that Eren needs a reason to keep fighting and to learn to trust his own decisions again. Choosing to trust in his comrades instead of fighting is what got his squad killed, or so Eren believes. Levi is aware of this and decides to build a squad out of the people Eren already has strong bonds with. He’s saying that Eren needs to be pushed to a point of total desperation that will cause him to act and trust himself in order to protect those he cares about. Which is legitamately exactly what happens close to the end of the Arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi apologizes to Eren for putting him on the spot again, and decides to put his own life in the hands of Eren and whichever decision he makes. Much like how Eren chose to trust in Levi and his squad during the battle with the female titan. This time, Eren chose to trust in himself in order to protect and it worked out in his favor, and in the favor of his squad. He saved them.
Levi’s intentions were not ill ones here. He was trying to help Eren grow as a soldier, and it worked out in the end.
THE TORTURE SCENE:
Tumblr media
I won’t even attempt to justify this because it is simply a cruel act, no matter how necessary. And it WAS necessary. I’m simply throwing this in here because, again, Levi is acting under orders and not torturing Sannes out of pleasure.
THE HISTORIA SCENE:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have explained in an ask before exactly why Levi behaved this way so I’m going to paste it here and then build off of it.
When Levi is backed into a corner; he instantly turns to violence. That’s the quickest way he knows to turn the tables in his favor. He does this mutiple times in the series. With the Female Titan, Pastor Nick, Historia, random MP guy who’s arm he breaks, etc. He is shit with words. He is not good at explaining a bigger picture in a way that everyone can fully understand, and Hanji wasn’t there to help him along in explaining.
When he told Historia what her role would be at the end of everything; he fully expected her to say no. He understood where she was coming from. He blatantly stated so but, Levi gets his point across with action; not words. Instead of explaining the situation in detail, he showed her what would happen if she refused.
He says to her “You can obey or run. If you want to run, fight. Defeat me.”
This was Levi’s way of saying, one way or another; you being Queen is the only end result that is acceptable. It is our only option or all of walled humanity is fucked. So will you have us on your side, or will you fight us? Do you honestly think you could win against us? So pick one because there is no time.
Historia got his message, accepted her role as Queen, and Levi instantly helped her up and put his full trust in her. Levi is voilent because that is just who he is. Is it a flaw? In some ways, yes. He is a man of few words and all action which is one of the reasons why he is The Captain. He doesn’t do strategy well. He isn’t a man with a plan. He goes by ear and thinks with rationality. He wasn’t threatening her out of anger or disdain. He was doing it because he knew it would be the quickest and most effective way to prove his point.
Now, do NOT get the wrong idea. I am not condoning Levi’s actions here. He went too far, of that I have no doubt. And niether does he.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe this is the second time that Levi realizes that instantly jumping to action or a violent relent isn’t always the best course to take. Silently, he looks around the room and see’s people disappointed and upset. With him or with what he said, he isn’t sure. He just knows that they aren’t happy with him. Pretty sure that Levi is fully aware that he went too far with his actions here.
Even though Levi had good intentions, I will still admit that it doesn’t make his actions okay. He did not think his plan through. Proving that by neglecting to inform his own squad of said plans. Levi was not trying to hurt or harm Historia. He wasn’t even trying to scare her. He was simply attempting to portray the gravity of the situation and show her as quickly as possible what attempting to fight them would be like.
Reeves picked up on this himself, and tried to explain this to Historia later.
Tumblr media
And even further down the line, Historia decided to take Levi’s words to heart and use them as a positive lesson to make herself a stonger, and better person. Not just for herself, but also to prove that she is a worthy leader for the people of the walls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only did Levi’s words get through to her, but they also reached a lot further than he ever intended originally and motivated her. Most likely expecting resentment from Historia due to his previous actions and for using her as bait to lure out Rod Reiss, he’s shocked to see that isn’t the case whatsoever.
So this shows that Levi is fully aware that he, indeed, took it too far with Historia in the way he demanded her to take up the throne. He fucked up and he knows it, and when he has his own words thrown back at him in a way he never expected; he awkwardly relents and lets her have her way. Most likely out of kindness and his silent way of repaying her for his past discretion.
Historia still gets her payback though:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Levi takes it in stride knowing full well that he deserved it. Thanking not only Historia, but his entire squad for sticking with him despite his own fuck ups and choosing to trust him.
Which leads me to the next one...
ARMIN’S DIRTIED HANDS & JEAN’S HESITATION:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyone who has read the manga knows how important this part of the story is for Armin and Jean both. Jean makes a prideful remark stating that regardless if Levi order’s him to or not, he will not kill another human-being which is entirely understandable. Not wanting to harm people is part of human compassion.
But Jean’s hesitation in following Levi’s direct order almost costs them all their lives. Armin though, he dirties his hands and saves Jean. Taking another life in the process having to cope with the heavy consequences. Especially after finding out the woman he killed also hesitated in her choices like Jean did, while Armin did not. Now, what is Levi’s reaction to this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi does not sugarcoat the weight of taking a life. He doesn’t tell Armin that everything will be okay or try to console him with lies. He cuts Armin off before he can begin to regret his choise and tells him point blank that his hands will always be dirty and to accept what he’s done. To accept that in taking one life, he saved all of theirs. Then he tells him that his is grateful for his actions.
Not once does Levi say killing that woman was the right thing to do. Not one time does he try to act like a patron saint who is leading them all in the right direction by spilling blood in their wake. That’s because Levi knows the weight of taking a life, and he does not enjoy having to order his squad to kill.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi ordered them to kill because he knew that was the only way they could possibly survive. That they had to be ready to protect themselves against human’s as their enemy and not just titans. Seems especially fitting considering where we’re at currently in the manga.
Levi doesn’t try to justify their actions or his own orders becaue he knows you cannot actively justify taking another human life. And Jean, when confronted with the reality that even Levi doesn’t know if what they’re doing is the right thing; he realizes just how human Levi is too.
Levi’s words toward Armin weren’t meant to be hurtful. Quite the opposite actuallty. He also knows killing people is wrong now matter how you look at it. Calling his actions here abusive is just... point blank baffling to me tbh because if anything, I see nothing but awkward kindness, and honesty from him here.
THE INTERIOR MP:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This man, whatever his name is, starts off by trying to immediately guilt-trip Levi and his squad. Stating that they harmed innocent servants in the process of their raid. Levi already knows how hard of a time his squad has had with the idea of hurting people. This dude is legitimately adding insult to injurey so not just to prove a point, but to also keep him from making his squad feel even shittier for the actions they have taken; Levi kicks this guys teeth in.
Then, to make matters worse for this guy, after already having his teeth kicked in, he decided to keep running his mouth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He claims they abandoned their comrades when in fact, they have been fighting the entire time to free them. He touches Levi ( we all know how that usually ends up) after insulting his comrades, and then speaks to him like a petulant child. As if he would know the inner workings or the trust the Survey Corpsmen have better than Levi himself. He also ignores Levi’s direct question.
That leads to this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi calls him out on his bullshit, and snaps his arm as a show of force. Not only did this dude disrespect Levi personally, but also the entire Survey Corps as a whole. Levi needed information, and instead of getting it, he got a lecture instead.
Please. allow me to repeat that when Levi is backed into a corner, he usually instantly turns to intimidation and violence. This is another instance of this, only this time, this MP dude fucked up in every possible way when it comes to addressing Levi and speaking with him on a proper level. Levi is a leader responsible for a squad that he has ordered to kill and harm people. I will stand by the fact that this show of force was necessary. Especially since this scene shows just how much the new squad has come to trust him.
Instead of questioning why he won’t give up their lives to save the rest, they wait and trust in his judgement. Even Jean, who stands shaking as he tries to cope with injuring people. This moment shows just how far Levi is willing to go in order to actually save his comrades and to protect the people of the walls. It also shows that he’s not one to take lightly or to look down upon.
Moooooooooooooving right along!
The Return To Shiganshina Arc:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, I know there are a lot of people pissed off at Levi for this violent reaction right here, and I understand. But, allow me to clarify this a bit.
Erwin is dying in front of him. The man he has followed for the better part of six years and whom he had a strong bond with. Also keep in mind that Eren is the same kid who he called a monster solely because Eren does not conform to the will of others. Levi has stated this outright in a few media formats, but I’ll use the female titan arc as reference here, that Eren cannot and will not be caged. That no one can force him to submit.
Tumblr media
One of Eren’s lifelong, childhood friend’s life is on the line here, and Levi knows point blank that Eren will not submit to Levi’s choice so easily. It is simply not in Eren’s nature. So, when Levi see’s that Eren is actually a hair away from trying to forcibly taking the serum from him (shown when he refuses to let go of the box and actually tugs on it), Levi jumps to a show of force yet again.
He does so because otherwise, the fight between he and Eren would have probably been far worse. Levi tries to reason with him using words at first, but his words do not register. So, again, Levi is backed into a corner and chooses violence to make his point. I believe in this instance, Eren would not have physically relented otherwise.
And once all is said and done, and Levi ultimately chooses to let Erwin have his peace, this happens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hanji is more pissed off at Eren and Mikasa’s actions than Levi, because Levi fully understands why they reacted the way they did. I wrote a meta about it a while back when chapter 83 dropped that you can read HERE.
Eren and Mikasa recieve proper military punishment at the behest of their new Commander (Hanji) once they return, and Levi doesn’t kick the shit out of them. He tells them all not to regret their choices, and to move forward. That’s all.
                               CONCLUSION TO PART ONE
Levi is not abusive. However, he is violent when he deems it necessary. His violent actions usually always lend to reason, however. He doesn’t just kick this hell out of people for no reason or out of sick enjoyment. He cares about every person in his regiment. He cares about those in his squad, he cares about humanity, and he cares about everyone’s well-being.
Even though Levi is a violent man, I will go so far as to say he is the kindest character in the entire series which I will depict why in part two for this particular post. He goes out of his way to make sure that those around him are fully aware of their situation. He doesn’t lie or sugarcoat his words. He always gives those around him a choice.
To trust him or not. To risk everything or not. To fight or not.
He bases his actions off of practical logic, not strategy. He goes with what he knows will be the quickest and most effective way of solving a problem or completeing an action which is why he behaves the way he does and this is what causes him to choose violent behavior. Not to mention his background and the fact that he is a soldier. He’s not there to babysit and hold his subordinates hands through rough times. He’s there to lead and make those under his command proper soldiers who will be capable of surviving in even the worst situations without him. He is there to push them through one way or another and to make sure they learn something along the way.
Is Levi flawed? Absolutely. That’s one of the many things that makes his character such a good one. But, is he a bad character because of his flaws? No. Absolutely not. All human’s are flawed and ALL of the character’s in SnK are flawed. That’s just realism put into a story about people fighting to survive. This isn’t about ships and how people percieve them either. This is about Levi in canon and who he is as a character. Let me state outright here and now,
SAYING LEVI IS ABUSIVE BASED ON A SHIP IS AN OPINION BASED ON A FANON OCCURANCE. IT IS NOT CANON TO LEVI AS A CHARACTER.
These scenes are dark. They’re sad, harsh, and some of them are hard to look at, but they’re actons deemed necessary for the story to progress. They’re actions that show just how far some instances need to go in order to save a life, in order to move the walled people closer to freedom, in order to protect the people Levi cares about, and to help the other characters learn and grow as leaders and soldiers. That does not mean Levi enjoys hurting people. He doesn’t. He doesn’t enjoy having to be violent with people or having to kill people in order to progress forward.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Levi is just a flawed man trying his absolute best to be the hero humanity expects him to be. Of course he makes bad decisions along the way, and does unorthdox things. He’s socially awkward and he speaks best with actions, and sometimes those actions are ill preformed. But he cares, and he tries his best to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders so other people don’t have to. That is who Levi is as a character. So please stop with the asshole, puppy kicker persona and give this man a break, a hug, and a cup of hot tea.
