lord of the flies gotta be my favorite classic literature and also one of the most widely misinterpreted pieces of literature in history. no that book is not about how man's savage desire for blood lies just beneath the surface and it is not about how all humans are inherently evil. it's about how the education system (specifically british) fails our children and how boys in our society are bred and raised to be violent and romanticize warfare. it's about how society takes happy innocent children and turns them into monsters. it's also an allegory for growing up--- being suddenly thrown into a world with no grown-ups to look out for you, where you're allowed to be a kid anymore. it's about losing your innocence. get your nihilism out of my face

yknow what isnt talked about enough? the parallels in russel and 2D’s pre-gorillaz backstories

first off, they both dont have pupils. which i know is obvious but imagine the first time they met each other. imagine 2D, fresh from his coma, still getting used to his eightball fractures, meeting someone who’s eyes look like his (just a different color)

you cant tell me that wasnt probably such a relief to him. something they had in common straight off the bat—an insecurity for the both of them most likely too, of all things (i actually ended up drawing a comic of this a while back but we’ll see if i ever actually post it)

on top of that, why does literally no one talk about how both of them survived being in comas. pretty traumatic ones for the both of them, too. russel killed a kid while possessed by a demon, then went into a coma for FOUR YEARS. 2D, obviously, went into a coma for a whole year after murdoc crashed his car into norm’s. (and probably wouldve been in said coma for much longer if d-day hadn’t happened)

not only that but both of their eye things are somehow related to their comas

those two points alone are HUGE parallels that not only the two of them have probably bonded over and i just love to think about it

in my opinion stranger things is a genuinely great horror show with well-deserved popularity but season 3 pretty much ruined it with all the red scare bullshit and the insistence on using 80s nostalgia. like in the previous seasons they added to the world and story but it feels so like. corporate in s3 if that makes any sense idk ill form my thoughts more on this later

the level of effort that people on r/systemscringe put into their posts is literally fucking sickening. like it started off as just posting screenshots from discord, tumblr, whatever, fine. it's shitty, but low effort. and then, like, yeah sure, edit your screenshots onto nice backgrounds so they're easier to read. weird effort to put in to bully people, but fine, i can appreciate the aesthetic. but now it's like... they draw on the screenshots. they have little fucking characters they use when they're making fun of people. that's a whole other level of putting in work to make fun of usually minors on the internet. it's an actual hobby. imagine putting in actual time and effort to bully people on the internet. fucking weird as hell. like go learn to knit or start a webcomic or some shit, don't use your time and "creativity" for making fun of people (especially from private discord servers) online

i still dont love destiny pvp but i think the reason that i dont find crucible and gambit and trials completely miserable is that i played on a sports team that was very bad at our sport. not even to sound pretentious i do not tend to register what is a win and a loss because of the sheer number of times our silly little club team went up against an actually competetive varsity team and we got DESTROYED like if i tried to keep track of that i would have hated competing. ive been stomped by a 3 stack in Real Life man im immune

No matter how Hexxat's companion quest ends, it hits me hard. She wants to be a mortal again so badly, and if she can't have that, she's ready to die as a mortal. Yet!! She can be asked to stay, Elvrae promising to making her immortal live tolerable, promising that, if Hexxat ever wants to end her life again, Elvrae has to do it.

And it's so bittersweet, they will have each other, but there will always be the knowledge, that Hexxat wants to die. But becoming a vampire was never Hexxat choice, so at least she can choose how long to remain as a vampire.

I love that the Doctor is simultaneously so great and so terrible with kids
