#white collar #mozzie #neal caffrey #one of my favorite episodes #i appreciate this show for taking the subject more seriously than most while adding an interesting twist to it #i always think deep down this is what lies beneath the surface of many conspiracy theorists #granted not all of them are Mozzie and it's easy to ridicule them but when you really think about it #how exhausting must it be to live while feeling constantly disappointed or threatened by forces beyond your control?#Mozzie is terrified of his own childhood truth so he ends up rejecting the entire concept of universal truths #I love that Neal knows Mozzie enough to understand that indulging in his theories and ideas (unless they pose a threat to his health)#is sometimes the best thing he can do for him #Neal knows Mozzie is a good person and his friend couldn't bear living in a world that shuts off too many possibilities #Not even the most absurd ones #Including the one in which their parents at least somehow loved him #The fact that Willie adopted a son makes the scene all the more touching tbh

It’s wild how so many people are fundamentally incapable of recognizing queer characters unless they explicitly say the words, “I’m gay” on screen

#like season 1 and 2? sure maybe you can overlook Will’s queercoding and believe it’s just a result of the bully’s homophobia #season 3 is a huge stretch but it’s hypothetically possible to believe will is just a late-bloomer or asexual #but how on earth do you watch season 4 and still genuinely have no idea will is gay?#and this is not a rare occurrence #it’s astonishing how many people you have to literally explain the van scene to cause Will’s sexuality never crossed their mind #you didn’t see him staring longingly at his best friend the entire season?#some people’s minds are so aggressively heteronormative that they assumed will had a crush on el #and even after noah has explained that will is gay 50 million times #people still are confused and think it came out of nowhere or they quickly forget #somewhere there’s a fan who doesn’t keep up with stranger things news and doesn’t really use social media #a fan who is the exact opposite of chronically online #who hasn’t heard about NOAH coming out let alone Will’s sexuality #who will walk into season 5 and be utterly flabbergasted when Will comes out as gay (let alone when Byler happens)#and they’ll say that Will being gay is a huge plot twist they never saw coming #and they’ll be 100% sincere #and that’s truly baffling to me #do people think shows just randomly include melodramatic rain fights where ‘it’s not my fault you don’t like girls’ is said for no reason?#do people think the show went out of its way to show wills rejecting the attractive girl in his class cause they were in a silly goofy mood?#I genuinely wanna know what goes on through people’s heads when they have no gaydar or media literacy #even today there are people who still think romantic stobin should happen and think that Robin isn’t really a lesbian #will byers #byler

"SMG is the only one acting well in this scene" Angel is completely disoriented after months of not being himself and she stabs him within a minute of 'gaining consciousness'

#david is not the GREATEST actor in the world I'm not saying that #SMG is the best actor on the entire show and she has experience #but buffy is going through a much more emotional scene than angel because SHE KNOWS AND HE DOESN'T #that's PART of her agony he literally doesn't know what he's done yet and she's killing him just when she got him back #there's a difference between being a totally terrible actor and just having a character that is not as impactful as others #angel doesn't really get that type of time or development on buffy #he's merely her love interest and simultaneously/later on her Big Bad #he's not really considered much of his own person #and sure you can argue that DB isn't great in early seasons btvs #but to ME i think it's more about angel's character as we're first introduced to him #he's not had much social contact with others (he's awkward even when he is social)#which is highlighted more in AtS but DB is improved AND is given time to be his own character outside of buffy's shadow #i know a lot of you like to only view characters in the shipping sense and not as individual characters though so i won't bother arguing #this is just me stating my piece. okay.

marcela does a lot of cruel things throughout the series but i think her true moment of traditional telenovela villainy is that dinner she has with margarita and patricia, (the day betty gets made president) where she basically states 'yeah i know armando is still in love with her and i know beatriz is still in love with him but she believes everything in the letter and she has no way to disprove it. and armando has no witnesses to speak on his favor.'

and she's very smug about it:

in marcela's head she believes the only one she's really hurting by withholding this information is beatriz, how armando feels is not even much of an afterthought. marcela puts herself and her needs first. which is understandable. she has no incentive to help beatriz and why would she? she sees beatriz as the reason why her relationship with armando deteriorated even tho it's actually more complicated than that.

of course armando knows he doesn't have witnesses or anything to prove that in middle of everything he did truly fall in love with her and he's not going to ask anyone for help. mario offers to talk to her (tho not seriously) and even patricia says mario could tell betty the truth but marcela knows betty would never believe the author of the letter.

her only goal is to keep armando by her side. i dont know if she knows that she's hurting him or if she justifies her own actions as a consequence of his past actions towards her. or maybe its something she knows she's doing but doesn't care. (im gonna let the audience decide that bc im not even sure how i feel about that).

we see armando go through hell after betty disappears but when she returns he never once thinks to tell her about what exactly happened after she went away. he only says 'all the damage i did to myself' but never elaborates and betty never asks. it's deliberate that armando never tells her about his state of mind during that period of time bc he knows that to do so would be seen as a form of manipulation. that's not how you prove to someone that you've changed. and that's aside from him knowing that she would never believe him. (bc we know she wouldn't). he loves betty and although he's not yet at the point of truly understanding just how much pain and damage he's caused her, he would never want her to take him back bc she feels sorry for him.

meanwhile, way before the truth of the embargo happens, marcela tells him she would never survive him ending their engagement. that it would just as bad as when her parents died.

his face is immediately affected and she knows. she knows that the only way to keep him is through manipulation. and later on, participating in the act of withholding information that could help him, but again she doesn't see it as helping him. and never actually does. when she gives beatriz this information, it's actually in her attempt to save the company her father co founded. bc up until the last minute she was still holding out hope that betty's indifference to armando would push him back to her. not understanding that armando's changed indefinitely. he's not going to be manipulated by her again and he's not going to stoop to his past behaviors bc it never did him or anyone any good to begin with.

#ysblf #betty la fea #i was in the middle of something else when i wrote this just now #it was unintentional but like i do think that scene is her true moment of villainy #bc u claim to love this person but also u dont want whats best for that person bc u fail to see that ur mutually hurting each other #and armando sees it and his biggest development in his character arc is his need to change it and recognize #that he doesnt' want to cause her pain anymore #but marcela fails to see the pain she's done to him via her own manipulations #bc again--she justifies it #the biggest difference between armando and marcela is that armando would know in the back of his mind #that the things he was doing were wrong #he knew the entire time--thats why they showed him not being able to sleep #but marcela doesn't care about who she hurts and she doesn't lose sleep if she mistreats anyone #not even armando #bc AGAIN she justifies with his infidelities

I just watched the cherry magic movie and I’m adding cherry magic to the list of love stories that have forever impacted the way I approach relationships alongside chuunibyou for the same reason that they are love stories abt falling in love and moving at your own pace and that being okay and still having a happy ending

#listen I think I have a right to experience A Lot of annoyance over all this because I had to see ‘criticisms�� like that so often #this is a particularly hilarious one the same level as the people complaining about Daisy and Billy being the only ones on the Aurora cover #(there are changes with the shoot but them being the only two on the cover is the same as in the book lmao ya’ll can not read apparently #‘it’s an insult to the message of the book because it’s supposed to be the whole band on the cover and not just the Billy and Daisy show uw #you are talking about the scene in the book where the entire band in interview is mad/bitter about how they ended up going with only DB #on the cover even years later while Daisy and Billy in their interviews gush over how gorgeous and iconic the cover featuring just them is #like … ya’ll are conflating a general sentiment those chars were allowed to express with what the actual scene was grrr #it’s one of the best funniest parts of the book too like I love that part…#and if the complaint was ‘I’m sad the other interviews weren’t as extensive at that part in the show’ totally would be valid crit to me #I would have liked them to show everyone reacting in interviews too (they did show them esp Eddie be unhappy about it but #your right there wasn’t as much specific exploration in the show of how the side chars were effected. But they’re still side chars with sid #plots in the book lol #also only Karen actually deserves to be explored as a char the rest I’m more than fine with getting less and then instead investing far mor #in developing Simone’s plot and arc.)#there’s stuff with Graham I do think could have been useful/worth while thematically if they’d had the 13eps and could do it all (and I’m a #Graham hater xd) but I certainly wouldn’t prioritize it over the things the show did focus on #and it’s not remotely high on my list of things they didn’t focus on as much as I wanted. ofc #in fact like I said… I thought it was so funny they did not gaf about the Dunne brothers relationship 😭#like it is an interesting dynamic in the book there are good scenes. but I’m obsessed with their choice to not give anything to any of #Billy’s dynamics that aren’t the love triangle points and Teddy. respectable af #vs Daisy and to a lesser extent Camila both have way more developed dynamics outside of him incred #(another reason ‘they made Daisy and Camila center around Billy’ crit makes me roll my eyes #like in the sense that the love triangle is elevated in terms of focus sure. and people are free to have qualms about that choice #basically saying the show prioritized the romance for the characters and char work is accurate. saying they did that more for the girls and #less for Billy idk what show you were watching

#rn this is mostly about we best love #some of the pieces for this show are breathtakingly pretty #ive said before that i don't like it as much for the first half because i don't think the tone matches well with the plot but for the #second half????? it goes so hard #kinnporsche too tbh even though the kp score is 90% renditions of free fall #like there's an entire playlist on spotify with all the variations of free fall on it its insane #buut it does a lot of work to make the show seem more cohesive than it actually is #not to mention the way that first string piece in the opening scenes of ep 1 is so impactful that it sets the tone for the entire show #everything zimmer or john williams has ever touched

We have work days usually on Friday to work on whatever upcoming assignments we have due. I have a lot of costume work (mostly detailing) left for me and theoretically I want everything done by like 3 and I get out of class at 2. Tomorrow is Friday. Which might be a work day for my only class. All of my upcoming assignments r done. I could show up (which would get me out of bed dressed and moving) and then if it’s a work day leave for my costume. This is a very good idea actually I will be doing this

I’ve been up since 9 took a nap from 5-7 and never really woke up :/#even tho I had so much caffeine!!! no fair!!!!#thank god for my old scene partner friend who had an arts and crafts project and did it at my place or else I probably would’ve never #worker on the costume nearly as much as I did. i got the crafts apartment #me and my hot glue gun against the world. fun fact! that hot glue gun graduated with me from high school bc I took it from the prop room #i did run props. i was the sole person who knew what was in there therefore I got to pick an object to graduate with #i picked my favorite pink hot glue gun and letter opener <3 #also. i swear I have spent like the entire last 2 weeks with my old scene partner and our friend #it’s also weird calling him my old scene partner bc like. he and I r very good friends now but also people earn a title in my life #and it rarely changes. and I’d say my only college friend. but he brought one of his friends around enough that we are also friends now so #it’s inaccurate. i wouldn’t say best friend bc that’s a cursed title for me. there’s nothing else that fits. but old scene partner takes #so many characters and I only get 100 per tag lol that’s the real reason it feels inaccurate. very interesting though bc like #bestie cares about me?? and not passively?? he actively cares about me?? i also learned that I am apparently his closest friend I thought #our friend in common was out closest friend. also I showed a human emotion once. and it was a very interesting dynamic change #i come off as way cold and I think he may have genuinely thought I didn’t care much which isnt true at all I doubt I would’ve came back this #year if he wasn’t here. but ever since bestie has like. agreed to anything I ask him to do?? he went to spirit Halloween with me #he hates Halloween. all holidays actually. he keeps staying up late with me even though he doesn’t like doing that??#genuinely so confused bc I’ve never had a friend in person care about me this much it keeps catching me off guard #also he goes out of his way to make sure I’m comfortable which is another thing i have never experienced in my life #he is probably one of the best friends I have ever had. idk what to do about it #especially considering after this April I won’t ever see him again. and I’ll almost assuredly lose contact with him. it’s weird to think abt #soup talks

i started watching the new series of phoenix rise and mostly it's a good show! but it keeps irrationally bugging me that rihanna and polly are just excluded from the main gang and from the boiler room for no good reason

#it's the fact that both of their entire friendship group is in the main gang #i mean literally what does ri DO at breaktimes when her brother and her best friend are down in the boiler room and she has no-one to #actually hang out with? and there was that one scene in series 1 where billy goes to a party that she isn't invited to (which leyla is #also at so it's clearly not about her being too young!) and rihanna is literally left home alone at night even though she's like 11 #and as for polly she literally says at one point that she's memorised the key code just in case she gets invited one day because #she wants to be in the main gang so much and then it's just. never addressed again #whereas daisy is just invited in after helping the gang with ONE prank (which rihanna and polly also helped with!)#maybe they'll get invited in later on in the series. i'm only on episode 2 of the new set of episodes. but i doubt it #anyway it just feels a bit mean for a show that's meant to be about outsiders being included and even though it's a small detail for some #reason i can not get past it!
