A Familiar Place
It's been a while, and I'm excited to show what I've been working on since February in preparation for my first convention! I've always had a love for liminal spaces so it brings me joy how much attention they've been getting as of late!
I wanted to do a series of drawings of such spaces based on my own travels. Though, I didn't think my usual mediums were going to cut it to create what I wanted, so I ended up having to learn how to paint with gouache. Gouache was totally new to me so trying to create these illustrations and learn at the same time was definitely a challenge!
I've made these into letter size prints and postcards, and will be available this weekend at Awesome Con!

Andy has been a busy man this year (we are blessed but I will never be completely convinced that he sleeps), and I got to meet him in March, which was absolutely amazing and nerve-wracking!
And now, oh god, I'm going to meet him again in Dallas next month! (😳?????????) But this time I will have people to freak out with because I'm also getting to meet and hang out with some of my wonderful mutuals!! 💕 I've never been to Texas before, and I've never flown alone before, so it's going to be a whole adventure! This is a lot of exclamation points I apologize!

Yesterday was phenomenal. I got to meet Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper. When I found out they were coming to a con together less than an hour from me? Too easy.
From the second they pulled back the curtain, I made eye contact with Christopher Eccleston and my heart stopped. He had kind eyes. I feel like he got so much underserved hate as the doctor, or people just had a general mediocre feeling towards him. But he has always been my favorite.
When I walked up, Billie complimented my shirt and pin (which is a bisexual flag tardis) and I love her too…. But I was a little starstruck by Christopher.
While we stood there, getting positioned for our photo, I had my arms around them both and was looking at the camera and said “I want you to know, you’ve always been my favorite Doctor.”
He looked at me, hand on my shoulder, and just said “Thank You.” I am so thankful that I got to do that.

okay, so I fr messed up and went to autographs at the 5 pm instead of 10 am & regret it bc a lot of people at 10 am got special messages on their autos while later on we had to rush through due to timing and poor hayden had to basically speed-run autographs within a few hours which I was a bit bummed about. although i'm super grateful that hayden took the extra time to finish signing everything for us at like 9 pm <333 also he's so freakin' sweet like I can't even BEGIN to start saying it. when i met him for the photo op I was watching him with other people ahead of me and was already freaking out but when it was my turn i was sooo happy i just ran right up to him and hugged him and he was already ready for it 😭😭🥹
AND WHEN I TELL U he smelled so good like I can't even remember the specific scent or cologne since the photo ops were rushed but OMG HE SMELLS GOOD LMAO and then while hugging him the first time i said "hiii!!" and asked him how he was and that it was so nice to meet him. we hugged for a few seconds and he pulled away a bit but had his arm around me and he said he was doing good n then i was freaking out inside cuz when he talked his voice was SO DEEP like i wasn't expecting it and his voice would just rumble in his chest like I could feel it when he spoke i can't even explain it 🤣 he was a bit taller than me but i had to look up at him and when I tell you THIS MAN WAS LOOKING DOWN AT ME AND SMILING SO MUCH AND JUST LOOKING INTO MY EYES LIKE 😁🥹🤗 I was melting inside and i asked him if it's okay if we do a hug for the picture and he said "of course" in a tone that was giving 'why wouldn't we hug of course we can!' i was legit screaming inside w joy when he seemed so happy to do a hug for the 2nd time and he kept smiling so much at me like if u guys saw the pics of him at the panel with the bracelets and him just grinning sm that WAS HIM when i talked to him at the photo op.
he also hugs so good you just melt into it and it's so comforting. we went to hug again for the pose then when I pulled away he had his hand on my shoulder then my middle back and i faced him a bit and said it's so nice meeting you thank you so much and he said you too & of course! and smiled a wide smile, right while looking down at me into my eyes LIKE OMG THIS MANS SMILESSSS 🥵😳🥺🥺😵💫 and he was holding me so close to him like he didn't wanna let me go while saying of course, it was like he was so grateful i was there with him and then i began walking away and smiled and he just kept grinning like CRAZYYYY 😭😭
ALSOOO this poor man only had a lunch break and another quick break 😭😭 tysm hayden <333 despite the problems today I had SO much fun and I'm so happy I got to meet hayden he's so sweet and he really cares about the fans and even remembers those who see him multiple times <3
also i got my picture signed by him but i'll post abt that separately cuz it was kinda quick and my dad tried to sneak a picture of him signing mine but the staff were getting upset at people with their phones out

Here's some pics of my Cosplay from this weekend at AwesomeCon:
Macho Mando and Hulk Grogun (1.0 cause I'm gonna make some improvements before whenever my next con is). I am wearing a muscle shirt over my fat, I am not that weirdly lumpy
And now some details
Hulk Grogun
I had the plushie, and remembered my mom had made a Hulk Hogan costume for my older brother when he was a month old (35 years ago)
the mustache is just the tails of the headband wrapped around and taped to his lip
Now a closeup of the blaster
The base is cardboard wrapped in duct tape and painted red, added some Slim Jim box accents. The rod is a wooden dowel wrapped in a wrapper from a "Savage Size" Slim Jim. Then tipped with a soda bottle top and an empty coffee creamer.
And heres the blaster I was referencing
And the holster I made from faux leather felt and a soda box
Next up a closeup of the shirt
Fabric marker and fabric paint on a thrift shop shirt. Stencils for the letters and I printed the design on paper and traced it bit by bit
The wrist bands
Just workout wrist bands with brads put 8n to make them studded
And finally the helmet
A Halloween mask ordered online, a thrift store bandana, and soda box pieces wrapped in duct tape for the back
I'm really proud of this one, I think with the gun this is probably the most crafting I've done on a cosplay
