I went to my best friend's magical wedding last week and the only photos I took of myself were shitty mirror selfies with my purse hanging open 🖤

I wanted to ask how you felt about the obey me angel event? I have a lot of mixed feelings. Like, on one hand I really didn’t like seeing them acting against their own free will. It really sucked for them, and I felt really bad. However, I am curious what the devs will do with it in the future, and if we will get lore about the celestial realm.
I think there are people who have expressed it in a way that describes it best because I wasn’t a fan of this event or how it was handled. I also don’t like how the event cap for the first page was upped to 100,000. I mean, and there are no cheat cards for this event either so it’s possible that I might not even get the SSR card this time around even grinding daily to get to the same place I would have been in prior events.
To me, putting them in their outfits from when they were angels in the way that Diavolo did was in poor taste. You’re going to put them in this attire that is going to attribute to what trauma they’ve all experienced and are still dealing with all of the time? Okay, a sick prank is one thing, but when it combined with the gift from Michael and forced them to not only be stuck in these outfits that the last time any of them wore—
They fell from the Celestial Realm and plummeted to the Devildom. That is forcing them to relive that moment that was the worst of their lives and that brought the loss of their beloved sister as well as what they knew about themselves as angels.
They had to start over and try to figure out who they were without that status of being an angel and that’s kind of a hard thing to do, and we all know that they cope so much with their sins! Punishment for turning against their Father was to fall to the Devildom and be laden with their sins. But, that doesn't mean that the guys are utterly swallowed by their sins to the point that they don’t have the means to do nice or kind things or be more than the sin itself. Just because they’re the Avatar of Sin doesn’t mean that that is the entirety of their character in the slightest.
Lucifer isn’t my favorite person in the world but you know what, this event had me actually worried about him far more than I’ve ever been before. His worst fear is being sent by the Celestial Realm if he were to die, and we know that he hates to be controlled, he values his freedom and what that means. This took away his power to be himself and he cannot handle it. He is just forced to be someone that he isn’t and he has to send the MC away because he cannot deal with being seen as something that makes him want to scream.
Don’t even get me started on Satan, he never was an angel in the first place, but he is so uncomfortable with what’s happening. He was born with his wrath and to be shoved into a state where he cannot even feel his wrath, he starts to have a crisis with his identity. He says over and over that he’s not happy, that he can not stand feeling like this. They didn’t consent to this feeling.
And by the time we reach the reach of the brothers, they’re lost to the manipulation of the bangles so much that they cannot see the hands in front of their faces. They act like they were monsters completely and act like the people they are now are horrible. Like, Mammon acting like his greed makes him some kind of bad guy, when he’s still done good things for others. If he sells his brother's things, he makes a note of where and when so he can get it back when he can. To see him say that he’s no good and that he’s done nothing good when we’ve watched him progress over the two seasons we’ve had thus far as his greed shifts from simple trinkets to greed for affection, for time with us, for time with the family, etc.
Ouch.
Levi trying to throw away everything that he’s loved and used for his happiness all this time, Asmo acting like he’s been so conceited when that isn’t at all who he is, Belphie literally cleaning the place where he was trapped for months like a prison and being okay with that, Beel was borderline in this weird place where he wants to care for others but it feels so out of place because he’s already so naturally kind, ugh.
It happens with the other brothers as well, where they seem to think through the actions of these bangles that they’re better but it’s not better. They’ve been had and forced to behave this way. They are merely trading one extreme for another extreme. We didn’t even get to see them leave that state by the end of the event and Lucier only barely snapped out of it by the end, likely in a state of unease and unrest. I’m kinda worried about all of them. They’re gonna hit a bad low when they are themselves again.
God, Solomon and Luke knew that something was wrong and no matter how much we tried to push back against the magic, the guys were too lost. I think the point of this event was to make us uncomfortable and uneasy. I think it’s going to set the tone for Season 3, and I don’t mean that the event will carry over or anything like that, I think the theme is supposed to tell us what’s coming.
SPOILER FOR SEASON 2: Given what was taken from Micheal, and how angry he was about it, well, I’m starting to think our next big villain is going to none other than him. This clearly was a pointed move on his part. A gift that forces someone to be trapped in a state where they’re forced to act “with manners”? Even if it could be removed before it got mixed with Diavolo’s spell, that says a lot about a certain angel.
Oh, and if anyone is worried that this is how the boys were when they were angels, lemme assure you with the knowledge that I have from Season 2 that this isn’t how they were. The manipulation magic on them was skewed to make them have intense manners and I suppose whatever the hell the Celestial Realm thinks of “polite behavior” to an extreme degree.
I think it’s okay if you liked the event, or if you didn’t, but it did leave me feeling really bad for the brothers the entire time because before they lost themselves to the spell, it was clear they didn’t want this. In summary, if the boys want to try or work on themselves, they need to choose it for themselves, not be forced.

Here's a summary/breakdown of the random Miraculous Ladybug dream I had a few days ago... (Set post-season 3/Miracle Queen)
Marinette and Luka go missing after meeting up at a small recording studio to work on something for Kitty Section's new track (another customer renting one of the other booths becomes akumatized and uses his powers before they can react).
The following day, the class notices Marinette is absent/Jukela shares that her brother never came home last night, and that they were supposed to meet up the previous day, leading them to speculate that the two have run off together and eloped. Adrien isn't sure why the thought bothers him so much.
After school, a breaking news story reveals that several hundred people have gone missing since the previous day. The police notice the only thing the missing people have in common is that several of them worked in a specific area of town. When the citizens working in that area were questioned, they all mentioned that the crew from the afternoon shift (who were now missing) had left their jobs unattended mid-task, as if they had simply vanished into thin air. Everyone wonders if it's due to a new akuma, but there's been no sign of who or what it could be.
Alya uploads a video on the Ladyblog asking for people to come forward if they notice anything amiss, as well as calling for Ladybug to make a statement confirming whether an akuma is the cause. Adrien transforms and scopes out the area, but comes up with nothing, and is unable to contact Ladybug. He wonders if she was fighting the akuma alone, but got caught up in whatever caused the disappearances. His only consolation is that Luka and Marinette are also missing, which means Ladybug might be able to have Viperion and Multimouse aid her.
The next day, Alya, Nino, and Adrien visit the bakery to check in on Marinette's parents. While sitting down with them, Adrien excuses himself to use the bathroom. After doing his business, he passes by the ladder leading to Marinette's room and Plagg darts out of his pocket and phases through the trapdoor. Adrien reluctantly follows in order to wrangle his kwami, and finds Plagg hovering near Marinette's bed. He tells the kwami off for being a pervert but Plagg ignores him and orders Adrien to open the drawer of the nightstand. He begrudgingly does so, discovering the drawer is much shallower than it first appeared, due to a false bottom compartment. Annoyed that Adrien is taking so long, Plagg lifts the thin plywood of the false bottom and reveals a very familiar polka dot box. Adrien pulls the box out and wonders why Ladybug would leave something so important with Marinette, even if they're good friends. Plagg points out that she wouldn't (it's as close to the truth as his magic will allow). Numb with shock, Adrien brushes his fingers over the box, causing it to open. The surprise snaps him out of it enough to examine the contents, noting that all of the other kwamis' accessories are still there, including Sass's bangle.
Alya and Nino go upstairs to find Adrien so they can leave and discover the entrance to the trapdoor is open. Furious at the invasion of Marinette's privacy, Alya storms up the ladder and catches Adrien snooping by the bed. Adrien fumbles the box, trying to hide it away again before they notice, but his bad luck kicks in and one of the accessories falls on the floor. Alya pauses mid-tirade as she recognizes Trixx's necklace. Nino yanks Adrien away from the nightstand, demanding an answer for why he's up here, snooping through Marinette's stuff. Adrien's other hand is still on the handle of the drawer, so when he's pulled away, the whole drawer comes out. Alya rushes to rescue the necklace, catching the drawer frame awkwardly enough that the contents spill out onto the floor. Nino turns his attention to Alya in order to make sure she's okay, but ends up voicing his thoughts aloud when he asks 'why does Marinette have Wayzz's bracelet?'
The trio reconcile their superhero identities, as well as the knowledge that Marinette is most likely Ladybug. Adrien admits that he's Chat Noir, and that his kwami was the one who led to the box's discovery. Alya and Nino forgive him for the breach of Marinette's privacy and the conversation turns toward the disappearances. Adrien notes that Ladybug's earrings aren't there, so Marinette must have had them with her when she went missing. When Nino brings up the possibility of other heroes being there, Adrien points out that everyone else's miraculous are still here. Alya suggests that they team up with the other wielders, but Adrien admits that he only knows the identities of Viperion and Ryuko, and that one of them is among the missing. He explains Ladybug's rule of not knowing the wielders' identities, and shares her concerns about it. He shares that after their identities were revealed, Ladybug decided it was too dangerous for them to continue being heroes, lest Hawkmoth use their families against them. Reluctantly, they agree to put the box back for safekeeping. Adrien tells them he'll keep them in the loop if he finds anything, and the trio head home.
-*-
Meanwhile, Marinette and Luka find themselves trapped in a pocket dimension with the other people who have disappeared. Everything appears to be normal, so they finish out their day unaware, but when they try to return home, they discover that they're trapped. They can't leave the area and end up returning if they try to walk past a certain point (they can see beyond it, but can't continue without being turned back around). Marinette struggles to find a way to talk to Tykki alone so they can assess the situation, and Luka guesses the reason she's uncomfortable. Luka reveals that he already knows she's Ladybug, because 'their music is the same.' Together, they find a private spot and discuss things with Tykki.
They agree to have Marinette transform in order to lure out the akuma, who should have instructions to take Ladybug's miraculous and give it to Hawkmoth. Ladybug attempts to call Chat Noir, but he doesn't answer. She leaves a message and decides to go through with the plan for now. Luka positions himself on the roof of the tallest building within the bubble, acting as a lookout since they don't know where the akuma will be coming from. After an hour of acting as bait, even resorting to taunts and call-outs, the akuma still doesn't show. Puzzled, Ladybug swings around the entire bubble, but never catches sight of anyone who might be the akuma. She attempts to call Chat again, but he still won't pick up. She leaves another message with an update and wonders whether the messages are getting through at all.
At an impasse, Marinette and Luka agree to find some place to stay for the night and try to figure out another plan in the morning. Luckily, a small hotel was caught in the bubble, and most of the people who are trapped end up staying there for the night. There's a shortage of rooms, however, so friendly groups are given a single room in order to make space for others. Marinette and Luka awkwardly share a room for the night, washing up in shifts and dressing down as comfortably as they can, given the circumstances. When Luka offers to sleep on the floor without any blankets or pillows (which had been commandeered for larger groups prior to their arrival), Marinette allows him to share the bed. Noticing how uncomfortable she is despite her offer, Luka decides to compromise and sleep on top of the sheets so that there's a barrier between them. Feeling marginally better, Marinette rolls over to face the opposite way and squeaks out a goodnight, still nervous, but is somehow able to sleep.
The next day, after a small panic-attack on Marinette's part (when she wakes up to find Luka setting out breakfast in their shared room and her sleep-addled brain has to catch up), they settle down to discuss their next move. Since their attempts to bait the akuma didn't work, they decide to scour the whole bubble, one building at a time. In order to simplify the process, they decide to have Ladybug direct the citizens to gather in the hotel (after they've searched it) while she searches the rest of the area. They follow through with the plan, but are only able to get through half of the bubble by the end of the day. After letting the citizens know which areas have been cleared, Marinette finds a place to change back and heads back to the room with Luka.
They spend another awkward night together, and Luka comforts Marinette when she starts berating herself for not resolving the issue more quickly. He apologizes for not being able to help more without his miraculous, and she chastizes him for apologising for something he has no control over. The conversation leads to Marinette admitting that she feels lost in her new role as Guardian, and that it might be better to change up some of the old rules she'd been following. If the other wielders had their miraculous on hand, then they would always be at the ready in case of an emergency. Doing so would also allow them to practice with their powers and grow closer to their respective kwamis. She admits that the main thing holding her back from making the change is worry over someone else abusing their power like Chloe. Luka asks why she chose Chloe to be a wielder in the first place, and Marinette relates the story of how Chloe found it on her own. Luka points out that all the other people she's actually chosen have taken it seriously and have always returned their miraculous when she's asked for them back. He encourages her to trust in her partners, and in her own ability to judge a person's character. When she brings up the incident with Adrien, who had Sass first, Luka mentions that Adrien still respected her and returned the miraculous. Tykki reminds Marinette that it's okay to make mistakes, or to ask for help when she needs it. Marinette argues that she's still worried about what might happen if the wielders knew each other's identities (and laments that she has to choose new weilders due to the events of Miracle Queen), but that she'll consider lending out the miraculous on a more long-term basis. She thanks Luka for comforting her, and the two grow a little closer.
The following day, Marinette transforms and gathers the citizens together again before searching the other half of the bubble. Luka discovers the akuma still inside the recording studio and sneaks outside to flag Ladybug down. Together, they creep inside to observe the akuma and attempt to figure out where the akumatized item might be hiding. The akuma is lost in their own world, recording their music. Ladybug and Luka retreat to an empty booth and speculate as to why the akuma wouldn't go after her miraculous after all this time. Ladybug theorizes that the akuma's power has cut them off from everything outside the bubble, including communication between miraculous (which would explain the radio silence from Chat Noir, and Hawkmoth allowing the akuma to do as they pleased for so long).
They discuss how to proceed, since akuma usually act out if someone tries to take away their powers or impede whatever their goals are. Luka suggests that if the akuma doesn't feel threatened, there may be a chance to talk to them and better understand their motives, which could help narrow down the akumatized item. Ladybug is hesitant to put him in harm's way, but agrees that aggravating the akuma may lead to further complications (like the akuma walling himself off a second time, to where they couldn't reach). She agrees to attempt Luka's plan and remains out of sight, ready to jump in and protect him if need be.
Luka knocks on the door of the akuma's booth and strikes up a casual conversation. He's hypervigilant of any change in their 'music' that might signal an aggressive response, but maintains an air of calm and curiosity. The akuma is suspicious at first, but relaxes his guard when the topic stays on his music, and what he's trying to accomplish. When Luka offers to help, the akuma's wariness spikes again, and Luka notices they seem protective of their (insert item here), but after a tense moment, they calm down again. Luka stays and helps a bit to keep up pretenses before excusing himself to grab a bottle of water.
He fills Ladybug in on his findings and they decide to have him return in order to keep the akuma at ease and distract them while Ladybug sneaks in to destroy the akumatized item. While Luka is chatting with the akuma, Ladybug quietly enters the room and attempts to get close enough to retrieve the item. The akuma catches her and realizes that Luka was working with Ladybug all along. She quickly summons her Lucky Charm, before the akuma can use their powers again. Using the Lucky Charm, she's able to manipulate the akuma into attacking her, leaving Luka an opening to grab the akumatized item. He breaks it, Ladybug cleanses the butterfly, and then uses her Miraculous Ladybug skill to return the bubble to normal.
-*-
Outside of the bubble, the others are on their way home when the displaced dome flickers into existence, followed by a commotion when the missing people start reappearing. Adrien transforms and rushes over to the area, meeting Alya and Nino along the way. They spot Ladybug and Luka coming out of the recording studio and rush to greet them. Ladybug reassures them that Marinette is alright, and the trio admit to discovering her identity. Luka puts a comforting hand on her shoulder (giving away the fact he also knows), but Ladybug shakes her head and doesn't deny it. Choosing to put the citizens before her own troubles, Ladybug asks to meet up at the eiffel tower to talk later, then focuses on helping the citizens reorient themselves.
When they reconvene, Ladybug tells the story of what happened inside the bubble, and why her messages weren't getting through. When they ask about Luka's involvement, and how he found out about Ladybug's identity, Luka explains that he figured it out on his own. This bring up the topic of how the others found out, and they tell their side of the story, explaining what had happened with Plagg (while referring to Adrien as Chat, even though she can surmise Chat must be someone close to her, considering her parents let him in). She tells them that it couldn't be helped, and that any blame should be placed squarely on Plagg. Even so, the kwami was only worried about what might happen without Ladybug around, which is why finding new, permanent weilders is so important.
After settling that issue, Ladybug apologizes for hiding her identity from Alya and Nino. They express their conflicted feelings, but acknowledge that they understand her reasons for doing so. In an attempt to lighten the mood, Nino comments that Marinette will no longer need to flub for excuses when encountering an akuma in their civilian lives, and can just transform around them. Alya jokingly bemoans that she should have realized it sooner, considering how awkwardly disjointed some of Marinette's excuses were previously. Luka just smiles at Ladybug reassuringly, offering to help with whatever he can even if he's not Viperion anymore. Ladybug is relieved their friendship is still strong, even though this new dynamic will undoubtedly take some getting used to on all sides.
Once things have been smoothed over, they agree to keep her secret and offer support however they can. Thoroughly drained, Ladybug bids them goodnight, knowing she still has to get through a tearful reunion with her parents before she can rest.
-*-
Everyone has a moment of reflection about the day's revelations. Marinette texts Luka to thank him again for the support, let him know that she got home okay. Alya and Nino try to reconcile the fact everyone in their main friend group are/were superheroes, but that Marinette still doesn't know Adrien is Chat Noir. Adrien frets about how to act around Marinette now that he knows she's Ladybug, when she's still unaware that his civilian self knows/doesn't know that he's Chat.
-*-
The following day, Adrien, Alya, and Nino wait in front of the school for Marinette to arrive. They talk for a bit about how to interact, and Alya asks about whether Chat's feelings for Ladybug are true. Adrien admits he's had a huge crush on Ladybug since Stoneheart, but isn't sure what to do since Marinette always seems so awkward around him, despite being one of his best friends. Alya and Nino share a look, but try to be encouraging- letting him know that Marinette cares about him a lot, and to try to show her that she's special to him. Adrien is hesitant to do so, since he's not sure how Marinette feels about him, especially since the class seems to think she's interested in Luka. Marinette arrives before Alya and Nino can reply. Adrien resolves to ask Marinette about her feelings later, as Chat.
Marinette notices Adrien is acting a little strangely, but is too wrapped up in dealing with the post-reveal aftermath and brainstorming candidates for miraculous to do much about it. When she catches a moment where she's alone with them, she lets Alya and Nino know she plans to duck out right after school to focus on superhero things. Once at home, she transforms long enough to leave a message for Chat asking him to stop by later that night to talk things over.
-*-
While Marinette focuses on planning, Alya and Nino let Adrien know why she left, then try to talk to him about his crush again. He says he'll think it over, but has to run to fencing practice.
Adrien's mind is obviously somewhere else during practice, so Kagami cajoles him into talking. He gives her a vague outline of his predicament, taking care to dodge around names or anything that would implicate their superhero identities. Kagami realizes this is most likely about Marinette, and bluntly tells him to weigh his options- pursue someone who hasn't made up her mind (Marinette), someone who has (her), or don't pursue either. She then leaves him with his thoughts, and he spends the rest of the afternoon mulling over his relationship with Kagami, and what may have happened in the bubble between Marinette and Luka.
-*-
That evening, Marinette jots down ideas in her journal while she waits for Chat Noir to show up. Once he does, they chat about the other miraculous for a bit before the conversation turns to their identities. Chat admits that he was surprised to discover her identity, but that looking back on Marinette's involvement with akuma, he shouldn't have been- that she was just as brave and resourceful as Ladybug even as a civilian. He expresses embarrassment over his actions during the Evillustrator and Weredad cases, and Marinette admits to rolling her eyes behind his back several times. Chat mentions wishing he could take it back, knowing what he does now. When Marinette points out that she's had her fair share of embarrassing moments, he explains he was referring to his declaration that he wasn't in love with Marinette. At first she's a little flattered by this statement, but quickly points out that he truly didn't feel that way about "just Marinette" at the time, and that he should reconcile those feelings before confessing his love now that he's found out she's Ladybug. If he decides that he feels the same way about all of Marinette, not just Ladybug, then she'll accept his confession. Chat asks if that means she'll choose him over Luka, which causes Marinette to consider her own feelings. She admits that she's unsure about who she'll choose in the end, since there's still a different boy she's trying to get over. Chat is jealous, but tries to comfort her, telling her that whoever the other guy is, he's missing out.
-*-
(That's it, folks. I assume a lot of character growth and relationship drama ensues, but the end pairings and such are up to you. I just wanted to jot down the core idea from my dream and fleshed it out a bit.
Feel free to run with it and write a fic or draw fanart or whatever, just link it back to this post/dm me so I can see them. :) Have fun!)

PREVIOUS CHAPTER
“May! I can’t find my belt!” Peter yelled from his room, he had been searching frantically all morning.
“Which one?” May called back, most likely from in front of the TV in the living room.
“The black one that Ben gave me,” he replied and heard May move from her spot but instead of concentrating on her, he continued his quest.
“This one?” May said from his doorway. He looked toward her from his seated spot in front of his closet.
He stood almost immediately, “Yes! May, you’re a wizard,” he said kissing her cheek and taking the belt before tossing it onto his unmade bed.
“If I was, I’d be able to get you to keep your room clean,” She said as he haphazardly shoved things into his drawer and forced his closet door closed.
“I’ll clean it tomorrow, promise. Isn’t Sunday like a cleaning day anyways?” Peter asked moving to pack his backpack for the day.
“Sure,” May said moving to sit on his bed. “Peter I have to ask you something before tonight,” she said and the serious tone made Peter pay close attention to her but not halt his actions.
“What is it?”
“What exactly is going on between you and Y/N?” May asked and Peter finally stopped what he was doing to turn to her with wide eyes. Peter had told her some of what was going on but not nearly everything.
He cleared his throat, “Well, um, I — she,” he began but couldn’t seem to get the right words out.
May stood at his distress and put her hands on his shoulders. He had gotten so tall since first becoming Spiderman but he was still her little Peter that lost too much too fast.
“Breathe, honey. Happy has already told me the gist of it but I just wanted to hear it from you. Are you dating?” May asked and his newly relaxed shoulders were tense all over again.
“I don’t think so,” he began, looking somewhere over her head, “I like her a lot but I don’t want to rush anything. And I mean we’ve been on dates but I haven’t asked her to be my girlfriend or anything,” he finished.
“Well, I think you should. You haven’t fallen over yourself this much since Liz,” she said and this made him look at her. “But it’s different this time, the look in your eyes is so much brighter and happier when you talk about her. There’s no hiding or secrets. When you’re together you just look like two happy teenagers,” May smiled and Peter couldn’t help the smile that pushed through the blush on his cheeks.
“Thanks May. You think I should ask her tonight?”
“I do,” she started, “But for the love of god please try and make it romantic. This venue is gonna give you a pretty good head start already,” she said before pulling him into a quick hug.
~~~
Nothing in your life had ever gone so smoothly. When you got to the venue the ballroom was set up perfectly. The only thing you had to do was wait for the flower arrangements and favors to be delivered.
You were doing a final walkthrough when the flower arrangements arrived and you knew this was the end of your smooth sailing.
There were supposed to be red and white peonies at the entrances and similar but not matching ones for the stage but when they arrived the peonies for entrances were red and the rather large ones for the stage were baby blue.
It took everything not to lose it on the delivery guy. It wasn’t his job but you’d be damned if you didn’t show him at least a bit of the fire in your eyes so he had a story to tell his superiors.
Twenty minutes later you got a frantic call from the florists telling them they would be there in less than 30 minutes with red peonies. Pepper had given you a serious talk about needing to be stern when working with businesspeople because you had always been framed as “Tony’s sweet innocent daughter” and they would walk all over you because of that.
It was really paying off now.
Once the flowers were fixed you took a deep breath. You could feel your body temperature rising and the last thing you needed right now was for your venue to literally go up in flames.
You oversaw as the rest of the setup went smoothly and two hours before the doors opened you went to the venue’s bridal suite to get ready.
You had changed into a dressing robe and were finishing on your hair when there was a light knock on the door.
“Come in,” you called, not taking your eyes off the mirror.
“Wow your hair looks so pretty Y/N/N,” you heard Morgan’s voice and you turned to face her and your mother with a smile on your face.
You opened your arms as she ran to you.
“I wish my hair curled like that,” She said tugging at her loose curls a bit sadly. They were almost identical to the ones your dad had at her age.
You decided on keeping it natural because even the very beginning summer in the city was hot and humid sometimes and you didn’t really have time to get protective styles done anymore.
“What? You have the cutest little curls I’ve ever seen,” you told her pinching at her cheeks as she settled onto you lap.
“Really?” She asked as you continued on your own hair.
“Yup,” you said popping the ‘P’ before your mother joined you both in the mirror and took the products from your hands.
“It looks beautiful downstairs Firefly. You really outdid yourself,” She said and began putting your hair into the updo you had showed her days prior.
Pepper had been doing your hair since you were little because your father had been a lost cause from the very start. He didn’t fare much better with Morgan’s hair either.
“Thanks mom, I learned from the best,” you said smiling at her and she couldn’t help but smile back as she pulled your hair into a ponytail but allowing a few curls to stay out and frame your face.
This was the most relaxed you’d been all day. As your mom finished your hair and Morgan took an interest in a game on your phone. You closed your eyes, only for them to shoot open at the question your mother posed.
“So is Peter officially your boyfriend now?” The question came after your hair was done so you quickly whipped your head around to face her. Careful not to drop your sister.
Who had subsequently gasped excitedly at your mother’s question, “Does that mean that Peter is my brother for-real now?” You snapped your head back around to look at her.
These two were going to give you whiplash.
“Wait. Stop. He’s not my boyfriend,” you told them.
“Do you want him to be?” Morgan asked.
“Yes, no…maybe,” you said and Pepper’s eyes softened at the distress in your voice.
She walked around so that she was leaning on the vanity in front of you. She gave you the look and that was all it took for you to cave.
“I mean I do but is it too soon? I mean it’s not like Harley has my heart anymore but I don’t want to rush into anything,” you told her.
“You know it took your father and me eleven years before we finally decided to tie the knot. Granted we had been together for a few years before that and that man is actually insane,” she said and gave a wistful smile, you and Morgan laughed lightly.
“But sometimes I wish we had dived in head first, especially after you came into our lives. I always knew I loved him, even when I denied it so even though what you and Peter have right now might not be love yet it’s worth taking a risk. You’re only young once,” She smiled at you when she was done and you smiled back.
You hesitated for a spilt second before saying, “You’re right, thanks mom,” she smiled and gave you a kiss on the cheek before lifting Morgan from your lap.
“Anytime sweetheart. Now finish getting ready, you’ve only got an hour and a half and Peter will be here in an hour with Happy and May,” she told you as Morgan gave you your phone back and they headed for the exit.
“Aye, aye Captain,” you saluted and she rolled her eyes.
~~~
Your makeup was done quickly and almost as perfectly as if you had gone to a professional. You had been coming to events like this since you were younger than Morgan and that meant that you had makeup down to a perfect science.
All that was left was for you to put on your gown and shoes.
Unzipping the garment bag you were once again floored by the beauty of the gown. One of your mother’s friends had begged to make custom gowns for the three of you and had pulled out all the stops.
The gown was a deep red with thin straps and a deep v-neck on the fitted bodice. The dress flowed from your waist effortlessly only interrupted by a slit halfway up your thigh. There was no beading, just perfectly draped silk that shone as the light hit it.
You dressed quickly accessorizing with a diamond earring and necklace set that your father had gotten you for your 17th birthday. Finally, you made sure the bangles for your suit were secured to your wrists before slipping into your heels.
You checked the mirror once more before hearing a knock on the door.
“Come in,” you called for the second time that day.
Turning to face the door you were greeted with an already-smiling Peter and you couldn’t help the warmth you felt creeping under your chocolate skin when his delight turned stunned.
“Wow, Y/N, you look incredible,” he said as you took in his appearance.
Sure you had seen Peter in a suit before but never like this. He was all hair gel and muscles in black on black and you weren’t sure your heart could handle it if he kept staring at you like that.
His top two buttons were undone as he held his tie in his hand.
“Thanks Peter. You clean up pretty nicely yourself,” you said before walking over and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
“Thanks,” he said and had finally looked away long enough so that his own cheeks produced an adorable flush.
“Um, Mrs. Stark said you could give me a hand with this,” he said holding up his tie.
“Of course,” you said, your voice was soft as you tried to ease both of your nerves.
He was silent as you began wrapping the black tie around his neck. The only thing special about it was the single red stripe down the center that matched your gown.
After you were finished the air felt even more awkward, neither of you moving back from your very close proximity. You looked at him, taking in his features and when he looked back you realized that tonight would be intense if he kept up with that stare.
You caught his eyes as they slipped down to peek at your lips and did the same, as he looked back up. A silent affirmation of exactly what he wanted.
He held your waist tightly and pulled you closer to him almost agonizingly slowly. Frustrated, you tugged at his tie and his lips fell softly onto your own.
And that was all it took for you to lose yourself in Peter. Suddenly there was no gala, or press, or superheroes. It was just you and a boy you thought the world of who was holding you and kissing you as if you were the only one who he ever had eyes for.
As you moved your arms to lock around his neck you felt his tighten around your waist and any part of you that wasn’t flush against him had ignited as your body met his.
You could spend the rest of your life completely lost in Peter’s kisses.
That was until three quick raps on the door startled the two of you into breaking apart and look to said door,
“Five minutes, Y/N!” Happy called from the other side and didn’t wait for a reply, just retreating with heavy footsteps.
You and Peter laughed together as you looked back at each other. All the awkwardness from earlier seemingly fading away as you untangled and straightened out your clothes.
Peter fell into a bow, “Shall we m’lady?” He asked and you laughed squeezing his outstretched hand.
“Yeah let me just fix my lipstick,” you winked at him and he blushed.

Unluck of the Irish | Julie & Bea
@beatrice-blaze
Julie kept arguing with the bartender ushering them out of the bar, completely angry with how he was kicking them out because of something that Julie took no responsibility for but just because she was the loudest, it meant she had to leave. And Beatrice. Surely she understood how unfair it was!
“I’m gonna come back when you’re off work and kick your ass,” Julie threatened him as she stepped out to which he just scoffed and rolled his eyes. Julie didn’t exactly look the most threatening. Average height, slim figure. No way any man over 6ft and went to the gym once a week would ever be threatened by. Little did they know…
“That was totally unfair, wasn’t it?” She turned to Beatrice. They were having a nice time prior to that, weren’t they? Julie was always a good time. Especially to pretty women and Beatrice was definitely a pretty woman.
Bea could say with certainty, she had never been kicked out of a bar before. She had watched her sister be kicked out of bars, but she had never been involved herself. Julie was really pretty and in a way fun to hang out with, but she had to admit that this all was a bit much. Still she nodded towards Julie in support,“Yeah, totally unnecessary. There are people who are being as loud.” She looked around them, not sure what to do now that they were outside of Dell’s,“Should we find another place to get drinks then?”
“I swear some of these people just have it out for me.” Julie said with a shake of her head. Stupid bars. At least she wasn’t banned though. They were understanding in that sense. They had been drinking for a while before getting kicked however, so Julie wasn’t sure if she wanted to go to another bar. She didn’t want to get drunk. “Maybe we can go back to your place for drinks?” Julie suggested glancing over at Bea, trying to hide her smirk.
“Some people just get so nit-picky when they drink,” Bea tried to reassure Julie. She didn’t want Julie to get any more upset than she already was. This other woman was feisty and Bea wasn’t used to less fierce than someone she was out with. It was an odd feeling honestly. “Uh, my sisters live with me, so I don’t usually have people over… Could we go to yours?” She could do what she did with Dario and get a hotel room for the night. Or try to sneak Julie into the house… As she contemplated their next move, she heard clicking and whistling nearby. “Do you hear that too?”
I don’t have a place. Julie sure wasn’t going to admit that just yet (if ever). “I’m sure it’ll be fine. It’s just drinks.” She tried to reassure but then heard a sound. She turned around, trying to make sense of where it was coming from. “Yeah… what - what is that?” A bird? Not like any bird she’s heard and given her time in the woods, she’s heard a lot of them. Just when she was distracted by the sound and looking up to see if she could spot anything, she felt something pass by them. As she glanced down she saw a green blur.
Bea tried to look around for the mysterious sound without looking too alarmed. There were too many things in this town that could be dangerous, especially at a time like this. Had she not been looking for something she would have completely missed the blur that went by her. Glancing down she noticed quickly that her gold bracelet was gone. That bangle was one she wore to match her sisters, a charm on each to tell the sisters if someone was on their property. “No!” She let out as she took off after the blur. “Give me my bracelet back!”
Before Julie could process something happened, Bea was running and Julie had to go running after her because what the hell was happening? Her bracelet? Stolen by some green things. Well, this night was taking a different path than she had thought it would. As the creature seemed to be heading into the forest, Julie took greater strides, knowing it was more likely to end up getting away if they got too deep into the forest. She leapt forward and managed to grab onto something. A small body and when she looked up and was eye to eye with some big headed creature. “Ugh you’re ugly.” It wasted no time biting her hand and she pulled it back as she yelped in pain. It continued taking off. “You big headed fuck!” She growled and continued running, pissed off.
Julie was fast, Bea noticed with wide eyes. She had no idea what these things were but she knew that she needed to get her bracelet back. Her mom could make a new one for her, but this had meaning, she had gotten them with her sisters. “What is that?” She asked rather shocked at the appearance of the thing. She pushed herself to catch up with Julie. “I’m sorry! It stole my bracelet and it’s really important!” She felt terrible that she had dragged Julie into whatever this was, but she needed that bracelet back. “I guess this is a good time to ask if you know about the supernatural?”
Julie had to laugh at Bea asking her about the supernatural at a time like this. She looked over at her. “No, it’s my first time.” She couldn’t resist and gave her a wink. Alright, it seemed they couldn’t beat it though sheer speed. Julie was starting to wind down, her sprint losing speed. “We’ll get the bracelet back don’t worry. But it won’t be until after I stomp on those green little shits.” She hadn’t a clue what they were but knew they were pests. While it would have been easy to conjure some shadow from the ground to grab whatever it was and get the bracelet back safely, she knew better than to use her abilities around someone she couldn’t trust. There was one too many people who knew what she could do right now. But if they continued to be annoying, she might just have to.
For a moment, Bea was worried she would have to explain the whole thing about supernatural creatures until she caught Julie’s wink. She let out a soft laugh at it. It was nice that Julie could still tease her even though they were chasing some awful creature through the town now. Bea was tempted to send out a little fireball at the creature’s head, she wasn’t sure she should around Julie. There was still a witch hunter around somewhere and she didn’t know who was willing to work for her. “My knight in shining armor,” Bea said with a little laugh. The creature was so fast and Bea was not gaining on them much. She supposed she could try some more simple magic and see if that would trip up the thing. It was much more subtle than her fire magic would be. With a little mutter under her breath, she tried a spell she had been taught as a kid. The fae tripped on the invisible force she had made, which let the two women start to close the distance.
It tripped! Julie didn’t see what it tripped on but that gave her the confidence to go faster. It was so close now, not close enough to reach out and grab but if she kicked off at the right time with the right speed and strength… there! She leapt out to grab the thing like it was a damn ball gripping it with both hands and pulling it close as she rolled onto the ground. Oof, that hurt a bit. She gritted her teeth as she sat up, the thing was biting and scratching at her but she wouldn’t let go. “Oh, you little shit.” She leaned forward and took a bite herself, causing the thing to screech and drop the bracelet. Julie felt it drop on her lap and let go, throwing it off to the side. Spitting, she picked it up, and held it out to Bea. “Please tell me this is it.”
Bea watched, fascinated as Julie sprinted and rolled while grabbing the thing. She would have never done that, too worried about how much it would hurt coming out of the roll. “Holy crap,” She whispered as she watched Julie bite the thief. She supposed that that worked, but again, it would have never been her course of action. Pausing in front of Julie, she watched as the thief ran away from them, apparently over the whole chase. Nodding, she grinned,“Yes. That is.” She took it from Julia and slipped it on,“It’s priceless and it matches with my sisters. I couldn’t lose it, you know?”
Julie got up, panting. Why did she put that much effort over a stupid bracelet? Maybe there were ulterior motives… or maybe Julie just cared that much for family mementos. Pftt. “So,” she said once she got her breathing under control. “You’re welcome, by the way.  I not only tackled that shit down but I bit him. Tasted it in my mouth and everything. I don’t think anything will wash that taste out now.” She spit off to the side before looking back at Bea. “Am I gonna get a thank you?” She teased, brow raised, wondering just how Bea was going to thank her for retrieving this priceless gift of much importance. Julie had her own idea of how Bea could do it.
“Oh, sorry!” Bea hurried to say,“Thank you. It just is like… It isn’t just a bracelet.” It was the literal key to their home and anyone who wore it would be able to get into her house and even her room. If she had lost it and someone had figured out what it was… She didn’t want to think about how hard it would be to get it back or make sure they couldn’t get into the house. While she wanted to sweep Julie off her feet and show her a good time, the adrenaline of the situation was draining and now she felt drained. “Can I rain check the thank you? Not going to lie, running after drinks kind of made me not feel the best.”
Julie was about to say something, about to cuss her out for having her go through all this shit and she wasn’t even going to get an invite back to her place. She sighed and gave a shrug. “Sure, rain check.” Whatever the fuck that meant. She looked around, getting a sense of her environment, figuring out where to go to get home or get another a drink. Either way, she’d be doing alone tonight. Unless she can pick up someone else at a bar but she already drank quite a bit, it wouldn’t turn out so great if she only continued to. “So, I’m that way.” She put her hood up and started back away. “You know where to find me.” That was all she said before turning around. Not even a “get home safe” because Julie wasn’t really the kind to care about that stuff. Sure, Bea was cool but here Julie was heading to her tree instead of a warm bed.

devolve around the world
Tumblr media
there are some things in life that are inevitable. for instance, if you live in la long enough, sooner or later one or more of the following are going to happen:
someone you know will die from a curable disease because they insisted on trying to cure it by only using CBD!
you’ll see an ex (who literally never knew you were dating) on a date with someone else and have to pretend like that doesn’t make you want to spit on a dog.
your favorite type of milk will be deemed a carcinogen.
you will be cancelled.
and then there are things you thought would happen to you if you moved to la because you once read a buzzfeed article on things that happen in la (that luckily - despite risk - can be avoided):
adopting a dog so as to promulgate the message “adopt don’t shop” because you care about animals, and/or the idea of owning something that could be described as “bedraggled”.
purchasing a fancy dog from a breeder because you are rich, and impervious to the contempt that you and your show puppy will likely be met with.
getting a nose job because you have a “deviated septum”. (i have a 70% deviated septum and no nose job… WE EXIST!)
falsely developing a food allergy as a means to lose weight, fit in, inadvertently ruin every dining experience for the rest of time.
joining a cult disguised as a fun place of worship based loosely around a religion you’re familiar with.
i have lived in los angeles for three years and have successfully avoided participating in any of the aforementioned “LA!” things. i had always assumed i would continue living life with agency, avoiding things that were anathema to me for the rest of my life, but then something happened. last month, i went to coachella.
Tumblr media
coachella is a music festival you might know of if you are alive and know of things that are annoying.
before attending this entropic weekend, i just imagined it as an outdoor forum for people to exhibit their vast collection of beige, fringed clothing in what you might call a *real life “shop this look” you want to unsubscribe from*.
but, it was so much more.
it was tens of thousands of people working towards a collective goal of becoming one giant, constantly rejuvenating cliche.
it was your best friend’s ex, the ghost of every girl you’ve ever seen in a bathroom at 3am, the son of that woman who’s always shouting on the app “next door” about something exactly zero people besides her give a fuck about, people you’ve seen on instagram and wondered ‘where do these people hang out’ and shuddered with gratitude realizing you’d never be in a room with them ever in your life unless you got lost and for some reason ended up at a meet and greet for one of those problematic youtube people…
it was all different types of people unified exclusively by their unique ability to exist only in a drunken coke haze.
and then there was me.
being in public socially is one of the most unnatural things for me - i’d be much more at ease drowning, for instance, or trapped inside a tabernacle - but i was obligated to attend for reasons that aren’t an interesting part of the narrative.
off top, coachella combines two of my most hated and feared things: fun, and men with verified instagram accounts. in addition, as someone who doesn’t really GET music, and whose anxiety barely allows her to hang out with the two people in her life who still afford her the privilege of calling them a friend, this, of course, was a catastrophic 72 hours for little binx.
things kicked off as you might expect - with a man spitting water out of his mouth onto my face with zero provocation (and less than zero repercussion!) while i stood awkwardly at the entrance of this thing - and then devolved from there… culminating in me walking 5 miles to a “nearby” CVS to get an uber at 11pm because the idea of that was somehow more compelling than spending even two more minutes inside that gated night terror.
i don’t understand the equation for fun; the math doesn’t compute for me - and while i assume it’s remedial because i routinely see the cast of jersey shore continuing to enjoy themselves, i cannot crack the code.
after i swiped my wristband nine hundred and sixty five times and got to the area designated VIP, i tried to have fun. i smiled dumbly into space in case someone i knew could see me, or in case i was in the back of a famous dog’s instagram story. i moved the lower half of my body v subtly so as to imitate dancing. i did my best to pretend that the sensory overload - from instruments smashing to make sounds amplified by millions (??) of speakers, the aroma of axe body spray and that perfume shaped like an apple, juul vapor, and the cacophony of clanking bangles, body chains and human beings yelling “yaas” - was not attacking my sensibilities in an irreparable way.
after 9 minutes, i was ready to go. of course, as i was not alone, and this was not an event i could just leave by myself without saying goodbye - like, say, my cousin’s wedding, or 30 seconds into any dinner party i’ve ever been at where someone was funnier or more interesting than me - i had to continue to feign appreciation for this $2000 string on my wrist by doing more smiling and swaying.
more music i don’t care about, more spray tan fumes, more photos to convey the hashtag “blessed”… and then finally it was time to leave.
but first i had to run into someone who had friend zoned me mere weeks prior to this.
and by “run in”, i of course mean that i saw this person, *absolutely singlehandedly* made a point to go out of my way to approach him, and then harassed him for a disturbing amount of time about something i already knew the answer to!!
i am a symphony only a dog whistle can orchestrate.
anyway, great… only six hundred twenty more swipes of this hand noose and i would be free.
but no, not so fast, because once we’d swiped our wrist bolo ties enough times that it felt like we’d given dozens of ghosts hand jobs, i looked up and realized we were no longer within the confines of that delusion jamboree, but we were standing on the concrete flanked by a committee of some of the most unhelpful people i’ve ever come across outside of the people who let you into the TSA lines at the airport.
and on one hand - we escaped! - on the other - no no no.
and so began our long day’s journey into night, brilliantly erasing the horrors of coachella and replacing them with a cursed 110 minute tour of indio’s main through street.
when we got into our uber a fortnight later, an ariana grande song i had heard for the first time (and subsequently 50 times thereafter) came on and as i looked at my phone, realizing that it would take another 45 minutes to get home, i was like “ooh. this is fun.”

The Price of Freedom
Prologue / Chapter One
2 years prior to the current day, a young Snapper couple experienced the happiest day of their lives months before an event that nobody could ever predict occurred. Word Count: 1771
Lore pinglist: @voidandstarlight @emordnilap-fr @fr-dew
The lighthearted bells of the small sanctuary rang in enthusiasm for the wedding about to take place.
Inside the small wooden chapel were at least a dozen of dragons of every size. They chattered excitedly about everything - from the great weather outside to the previous days goldmine of minerals mined to how adorable little Pelly looked as the ring bearer. The atmosphere was calm yet moving, as a day of passion and devotion should be.
The chattering was gradually hushed upon the appearance of an elderly Mirror to the crooked old organ in front of the rows of benches. With a quick stretch of his finned arms and a rather painfully loud crack of his fingers, he set to work waking up the tired instrument and forcing it to once again play the song of welcome, rejoice and love.
Smiling faces and well-meaning eyes moved over to the where the groom was now standing and awaiting his betrothed. The feminine folk of the service with their best silks and jewels whispered eagerly about his dashing outfit and his strong muscles. Meanwhile their more stout companions grinned at the groom from across the room, knowing all too well that a good night of mischief and partying lay ahead for most of them. His best man, a dark teal-coloured Guardian with a long but neatly tied up mane with a few straggled ends escaping down his face, also turned to smile softly at him. The best man leaned in and whispered quietly to the groom.
“Not long now until your freedom is gone, Hem.”
Hematite averted his gaze to his best man. He quickly flashed of look of warning to the Guardian as if to say “do not speak like that on my special day, I KNOW what I am doing” but on the outside he gave a forced hearty laugh and whispered back.
“Haha, I know man. She isn’t what you guys are used to. I know her for who she really is and that is the dragoness that I am marrying today. I would rather spend my life with her if it meant-”
His whisper was cut off by the sudden appearance of his soon-to-be wife down the aisle from where he stood. His mouth gaped in a mixture of awe and surprise, but he quickly regained himself and neatened up his posture for the ceremony ahead of him.
Meanwhile at the opposite end of the aisle, A timid young Snapper now hung around the door nervously as all eyes turned to her with soft gasps escaping from the lips of some of the silk-covered dragons. On her head was a fat, round desert frog. Everybody there knew she couldn’t do anything without the thing, but some people spoke lowly in disgust. The frog simply croaked.
Dressed in a fine guise of pale green silk, Emerald’s outfit of marriage was also adorned with beautiful yet simple copper jewelry. She knew of the psychic and healing abilities that came with the ore, and she hoped that it would put her soon-to-be-husbands worrisome mind at ease. As she began slowly making her way to her beloved with her dedicated friend Crag walking besides her slowly and an excited trio of Skydancer hatchlings skipping onwards in front with light giggles and flower petals all around, she felt a sudden surge filling the room from the bangles around her wrists. It felt like all had become calm and organised, like everything was in order and she was ready for anything that was to come up ahead. She was at peace. She only wished her partner was as well.
As she walked forwards, she heard the whispering of some of the guests. She took a deep breath as she attempted to keep the order from her heart in the room. Some of them still found a way to slip into her ears.
“She looks absolutely stunning! What a lucky man that Hematite is.”
“Pelly will be shouting out this news for the whole world to hear for the next year likely. Not entirely looking forward to it.”
“Such a lovely dress that is. I wonder who designed it?” A teenage pearly coloured Guardian draped in seashells gasped as her eyes gazed adoringly over the bride-to-be’s outfit.
“It’s such a shame they couldn’t be here to see this. They would have been absolutely delighted to see them two married at last. Let us hope they return soon.” She heard an unknown voice mutter from nearest to her, but never turned around to see who had said it or to realize it was meant directly for her.
Now joining Hematite at the altar was the officiant herself. The figure’s eyes were completely covered by a blessed veil of the Lightweaver Herself, yet she watched as the couple reunited and exchanged a few quiet words complimenting each others beauty before clearing her throat lightly and beginning the ceremony. The excitable Mirror at the organ finished his piece with a flourish and a big grin before slinking back to the side at the sudden stern look of the veiled Bogsneak.
“Friends, family and others who have gathered here today to witness the union of Emerald Turqvine and Hematite Phenaline below the skies and beneath the gaze of the Creators Eleven.” The figure, a soothsayer named Glainn, started the ceremony.
”You have been invited from near and far to offer your love and support to their union, and to allow them to begin their life of marriage surrounded by the support of those closest to them.”
Glainn took another moment to clear her throat again before continuing, her voice beginning to sound rather broken and hoarse.
“Emerald and Hematite thank you for your presence here today. They also wish for us to show remembrance for the loved ones who cannot be here to share this moment with them. To those people, may they be at peace in the Elevens service and care, they too hold dear in their hearts...”
Hematite noticed Emerald’s head droop slightly and knew who she must have been thinking of upon hearing those words. He quietly prayed to Tidelord for the wrinkly old soothsayer to hurry up and get to the vows.
“And now.” The croaky officiant had finally come round to the sharing of vows at long last. Hematite quietly sighed with relief, noting his partners giggle in front of him as she lovingly watched him.
“Hematite. Please take Emerald’s hand and repeat after me.” She spoke sternly to him after her speech of togetherness and devotion.
“Emerald, I take you as you are on this day as I love you for who you are and who you are yet to become. I am grateful to you for our love and for your life, I am to be patient with you and with myself, to fill our lives with adventure and our home with laughter, for our hatchlings to be birthed and grow blessed and healthy. To inspire you to grow as an individual and love you with my complete devotion. I pledge these before you in the company of our chosen friends and family.”
Hematite repeated after her with a sense of duty and happiness. He had wanted to tell Emerald all of these things for years now, but never had the words for it. Perhaps they got lost in his mind or his messy notebooks, or with the amount of stress on top of them both as they… No. Don’t think of that on your wedding day. Enjoy yourself.
“And Emerald.” Glainn garbled on. Both she and Emerald repeated after one another the vows. Finally the moment both of the young Snappers had been waiting for arrived.
“Hematite. Do you take Emerald to be your wife?”
“I do.” He spoke softly, his deep eyes never leaving the pale brown ones on the face of his almost-wife.
“And Emerald. Do you take Hematite to be your husband?”
“I do!” She squeaked a little from her nerves, causing a little giggle to escape from the audience that was quickly hushed.She blushed heavily and Hematite found his heart beating faster with absolute love for her.
“And now we shall present the rings.”
Finally little PelicanBill had his time to shine. He straddled over to the couple proudly, raising the eyebrows of the officiant and causing most of the audience to fall into a fit of giggles. He arrived at Glainn who promptly took the cushion where two beautiful rings lay and then proceeded to shoo little Pelly back to his corner with the rest of the children. He honked at her in petty annoyance before scooting back just in time to miss her hind foot.
The aging Bogsneak steadied herself and turned back to face the amused couple. Holding the ring cushion she continued the ceremony. Soon after the rings - a gorgeous drop of glimmering Jade for her and a deep, soothing drop of Lapis for him - were blessed and on the nails of the two lovers. Finally the ceremony concluded and with a relieved grin, Glainn spoke out to the audience.
“Hematite and Emerald, you have come here today of your own free will and in the presence of family and friends, have declared your love and commitment to each other. You have given and received a ring as a symbol of your promises. By the power of your love and commitment to each other, and by the power vested in me by Her Radiance The Lightweaver, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now share your first kiss as husband and wife. Congratulations. Friends and family, I now present to you the newly married couple. Please give your congratulations for the newly weds!”
The chapel erupted in applause and cheers as the married couple leaned in and pressed their lips together. Despite the sudden disappearance of the founder and the near collapse of authority, they were now all here still with their jobs, their homes and at the wedding of the two who stood up to regain control. After most of the audience gave their personal congratulations and left, Hematite and Emerald were finally left alone together in the chapel. They both hugged each other, thankful that their wedding went smoothly, and then got back to discussing business and their town in wake of the after-party tonight.
If there was one mutual feeling shared in the celebrations today, it was the feeling that things were finally looking up to the better and their peaceful lives would could go on as usual.
Oh, how good those mutual feelings of ignorance where back then.
