Inside, outside
Pairing: 10k x reader, Addy Carver x sister reader
Warnings: swearing, smut
Chapter: 2.14
“We were completely different at school. Addy was always popular. I was really shy, the type of shy where you're too scared to put your hand up in class in case nobody cares what you had to say.”
“Could've bet on you being the quiet sibling,” Doc chuckled before joining your sister in trying to figure out why the car broke down.
“I like that you are quiet. Quiet people are always underestimated,” 10k smiled. “Well, everyone except you. I’ve always been able to see how badass you are.”
Your lips pressed together as you smiled. You turned to look up at him as he sat on a piece of metal behind you. 10k quickly jumped down to sit beside you and pressed a kiss to your forehead.
“You two make me sick,” Murphy says, scrunching his nose up. His facial expression changes from disgust to annoyance when he sees 10k lighting a cigarette. “Where the hell did you get those?”
10k takes a puff of his cigarette without answering him. Rolling your eyes, you pull out a carton with a few cigarettes left and toss it to Murphy.
Happy that he had gotten some, Murphy walked away to annoy someone else, but Warren stepped in front of him. “Looks like we are going by foot. Grab what you can.”
Everyone collected their stuff, making sure they had everything they needed, aside from Murphy, who sat pouting. You smirked, “Come on, princess, she means you too.”
“How far is it to this supposed rendezvous?” Murphy asks as your group continues to walk through what looks like a very large junkyard.
“A day walk. Maybe two,” your sister answers.
“Everything looks the same.”
You let out a snort, “a zombie apocalypse and a nuke will do that.”
The next few hours went by fast when the conversation turned to what everyone was doing when the apocalypse started. Warren was working at her posted military base. Murphy was in prison. Doc was working as an addiction counsellor when the Z’s attacked. 10k was fishing when he got surrounded, but his dad saved him. Addy was at an ice hockey game and met Mack while escaping. It was bittersweet hearing people talk about him. It made you miss the way things used to be.
You roll your eyes as Murphy continues to moan. “Does anyone even know where we are? It feels like we’ve been walking forever.”
“Somewhere outside sunny California.”
“Seriously, how much further? I don’t feel so good.”
“We should take a break,” Warren says before sitting down.
After a few moments of silence, Addy jumps to her feet. “It can’t be,” she says, turning to look at you with a blank expression on her face. “Where was the one place we always wanted to go as kids? The one place dad always said he’d take us but never did.”
It took you a few seconds to remember, but your eyes widened when you did. “Get out, it can’t be.”
“For real.”
“Well?” Murphy huffed, unimpressed. “Where are we?”
“Disneyland.”
“Uh huh,” Addy shook her head. “Hard to tell for sure, but I think a small world would have been right over there.”
She points to a large pile of rubble.
“Hey, do you still take pictures to document the apocalypse?” 10k asked, pointing to the ‘happiest place on earth’ sign that was still intact.
“I still have my camera, but I ran out of film a while ago. Shame that would have been a good one.”
You stared out at the large hole in the wall as the night got darker while the rest of your group finished eating their rations for that night. You sighed, “I’m gonna take a look around. Make sure we are the only ones here.”
“I’ll go with you,” 10k said before finishing the last of his food.
Warren looked unsure as her eyes moved between you. “Fine, but make sure you're back for us leaving. I don’t want to waste time in the morning sending out a search party.”
“I think I’ve found something.”
You toss the box you’d been looking through onto the ground to search for 10k. You’d searched the small building for Z’s and found none, along with no supplies.
The area you were standing in was nothing but four brick walls, dirt, dust, and rumble. You scanned the room, trying to figure out where 10k had gone. “Tommy?”
You let out a squeal and jumped when a metallic clanging noise rang out from behind you. Spinning quickly, you see that 10k has dropped ladders down from a higher ledge. Laughing your fright off, you climb up them to see what he’s found.
“I guess someone was living up here,” 10k says, taking off his shoes.
“What are you doing?”
“Getting comfy,” he smiles.
Once you are up on the ledge, he pulls the ladder back up to stop any Z’s from joining you. The previous person who’d been staying in the building had managed to find a mattress, bed covers, and pillows, which was rare.
You lean back into the bed and stare up at the darkening sky, watching a flock of birds fly by. 10k rolled onto his side to face you, “How’s Addy doing? She seemed pretty upset before.”
“It’s hard for her to talk about Mack. Hell, I miss him like crazy and I thought he was a pain in the ass most of the time… I don’t know how she does it. If she hadn’t met Mack that night, neither of us would have made it this far. I wouldn’t have made it on my own.”
“It’s easier than you think. I did it for a long time. After my pa turned, it was just me until I met all of you guys.”
“I’m glad you did.” You let out a small chuckle. “I’ve lost count how many times you’ve saved my ass.”
He brushes a strand of hair out of your face, “it’s just what we do, save each other.”
“Tommy, I uh…” you said nervously, biting your bottom lip. “I need to say what I’m about to say, not because I want you to say it back, but because I need you to know how I feel in case something happens to me. I’m in love with you.”
10k shuffles awkwardly as he remains speechless. He looked down and mumbled something you don’t quite make out.
“What?”
“I'm afraid to say it,” he says quietly, “I told my ma I loved her before going to make her some breakfast, and when I came back she'd died in her sleep. I told my pa I loved him before he went out hunting and got bit. I- I just can’t say it.”
“Then don’t,” you say softly.
You lean forward and kiss him. When you pull back, 10k has a look of guilt on his face. “I know you care, Tommy. I see it every time you risk your life for mine or someone else you care about.”
10k kisses you again, but this time it’s different. It feels more urgent. In one swift motion, 10k wraps his arms around you and rolls you so you are on top of him. You deepen the kiss and only pull away to remove your top and bra. His hands start to roam, up your arms to your shoulders, and they stop when they reach your breasts. 10k looks up at you nervously, “Is this okay?”
You nodded before finding his lips again. You move off his lap and start to undress each other. You lie side by side on the bed with only the blanket covering your bodies. 10k lets out a quiet moan when you start kissing his jawline and neck as you wrap your hands around him, moving your hands slowly.
After a couple of minutes, you feel 10k’s body tense up. “Wait,” he mumbles. “I don’t want to ruin this by…. Ya know… too soon.”
“We don't have to-”
10k smiled at you before cutting you off with a kiss. “I want to. I’ve just never done it before.”
Knowing you’ve got hours until sunrise, you and 10k spent the next few hours exploring each other’s bodies. Spending the night with 10K made you feel normal. It was what you imagined a normal relationship was like, instead of one person always needing to stay awake to watch for any signs of danger.
10k finally lines himself up with you, “ready?”
You nod, letting him know you're ready. At first, his movements are clumsy, but he soon finds a steady rhythm and his pace quickens. You let out a moan when 10k reaches his hand between your bodies, touching your small bundle of nerves. Seeing how much you like it, 10k repeats this action before you finally reach your climax.
You stifle your moans by kissing 10k roughly moaning into his mouth, causing him to reach his own climax.
10k presses his sweaty forehead against yours as he catches his breath. “You okay?”
“Better than okay,” you giggle.
10k presses a kiss to your cheek before moving. A few moments later, he lays down beside you again and wraps his arms around you, saying, “We should try and get some sleep.”
You and 10k reached the building you were in previously just as the rest of your group walked out of it. Warren smiles at you widely and says, “Good, I was just about to send out that search party.” When you tie your hair up, her gaze lingers on you for a longer period of time than usual, asking, “Did you find anything useful?”
“Just a few blankets,” you say, feeling the sides of your ears starting to heat up.
You stand confused when Doc suppresses a laugh as he walks by you, while Warren gives you a strange look. You turn to face Addy, “Did I miss something?”
She taps her finger against your bruised neck, “You are covered in hickeys.”
Mortified, you quickly let your hair down. Your eyes met 10k's, and his cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.
“You better have used those condoms I gave you,” Addy says quietly. She gives you a serious look when you don’t answer right away, “I’m serious, Astra, you can’t risk not being safe in an apocalypse.”
“Yes, we were safe,” you whisper. “Now please drop it.”
Addy smiles and wraps her arm around your shoulder, “Good.”
While the rest of your group walked ahead, you slowed your pace so that you were beside Vasquez. You’d noticed he’d seemed more vacant than usual and wanted to comfort him somehow, although with Vasquez it was tricky. The balance between being helpful and pissing him off was thin.
"So you're not going to ask what’s bothering me?"
“No,” you say, shaking your head. “I hung back because I’m sick of listening to one cry baby. I don’t need to hear another.”
Vasquez let out a rare chuckle. “I never imagined the saviour of the world would moan so much.”
You roll your eyes, “Tell me about it.”
A few moments passed before Vasquez spoke again. “You never said where you were when the apocalypse started.”
You told him the same story you’d shared with 10k previously. “What about you? Where were you?”
“With my wife and daughter… I was at their funeral. I had to show them mercy.”
You felt a lump form at the back of your throat. Although everyone had lost loved ones, Vasquez had been through a lot before the apocalypse had even started, which explained why he was so cold when you first met.
“Are we there yet?”
“You’ve been asking that for the past 3000 miles,” Warren sighs.
“Yeah, I know,” Murphy continues. “But this time I really mean it. Seriously, shouldn’t we be there by now?”
“It should be on the other side of these trees,” Addy adds.
When you step out of the forest onto a main road, you are taken aback by how fresh the sea air is.
“Damn it’s the Pacific Ocean,” Doc says, stepping forward to get a better look.
The scenery was beautiful. It was the first place you’d seen in a long time that was tainted with death. You turn your head in either direction to look for a lab or hospital type building, but all you see is a small restaurant. “This can’t be right.”
Addy looks down at her GPS, “According to this, it’s right.”
“This isn’t what I was expecting.”
“Maybe it’s just another front for an ungrounded lab,” 10k suggests.
Murphy rambles on, “or maybe it’s just another greasy diner! Another cosmic joke at my expense!”
Warren ignores him and says that the building still needs to be checked out. “I don’t want us all to go walking into some kind of trap. So me and Vasquez will go in light and check it out. The rest of you guys stay here with Murphy and get him into this.”
Warren tosses you a bag with a change of clothes in it.
Murphy's eyes move from the bag in your arms to Warren, “oh hell no.”
“Oh hell yes. I don’t want anybody to recognise you. There are probably some bounty hunters lurking around that heard one of those broadcasts. We did not get you this far to lose you to neo-nazi-numbskulls.”
Murphy huffed, “Yes, dear. Anything you say, dear.”
“Thank you,” Warren says sarcastically before looking at the rest of the group. “If we’re not out in ten minutes…”
“We’ll come bursting in after you,” Addy says.
“No, you need to protect the package. Contact Citizen Z for instructions.”
Murphy starts to get changed while the rest of you watch in silence as Warren and Vasquez make their way inside the restaurant.

So considering how I take 3-500 business days to get anything done I figure I won’t be drawing my DA girls’ kids anytime soon but I could at least talk about them. For the most part if they’re able to have kids they do because I like designing characters by playing mix and match with parent traits and then I’m weak and get attached:
Alistair and Oralie: The pair that has “parent material” written all over them. Their first and only biological child is Adaia (Addy), obviously named after Lee’s mother because I’m unoriginal. She’s got her father’s eyes and her mother’s gold hair and is just covered in freckles. They then adopted orphans Celestine and Adrien from an alienage when Adaia was a little over a year and Celestine and Adrien were 4 and 3 respectively. They also get a couple more mabari. Lee makes a point of making sure they all know how to fight and protect themselves (along with any other kid in the neighborhood that wants to learn) but the girls are the ones to really take to it. Addy duel wields like Lee and Celestine has a sword and shield like Al. Adrien on the other hand grows up to become a baker. After the Blight they convince Anora to grant the Tabris family some land far enough from Denerim to be safer but near enough to easily visit the alienage and the kids stay there for the most part, but both parents come home as much as they possibly can. When Corypheus triggers the calling they realize that Adaia is hearing it too and it’s what leads to Lee going to search for a cure.
I haven’t decided if Ceres and Zev have kids yet. I think they’d both be happy without any but they’d also both be great parents, even if it’s a surprise to themselves. Also Ceres was a goddess of motherhood so I kind of feel like they maybe should? If they do it would probably just be one son with a name like Gaius because I’m fucking trash like that.
Fenris and Hesper: Easily have my favorite next gen. kids. Carver, their first, is a tall lanky mage with shoulder length black hair, his mother’s nose, and grey eyes. He has a goofy sense of humor and the survival instincts of a golden retriever puppy that ate a whole pan of weed brownies. Bethany acts as his magic teacher. Diana is the younger one and has her mother’s red hair and her father’s eyes. She makes up for Carver’s dopey disposition by having a short temper and being CONSTANTLY READY TO THROW DOWN. Between Fenris, Isabella, and occasionally Merrill she knows how to tell someone to go fuck themselves in no less than five languages. One time when she was like 11 she broke a kid’s arm for calling her big brother a “filthy mage” and when questioned about it by the kid’s parents because we don’t care that you’re the Champion’s daughter you can’t do that she was just like “yeah and if you say anything like that again I know where you sleep Timmy you piece of shit.” Her parents just shrug and say “You’ve heard it here first. Better start sleeping with your eyes open, Tim.” Needless to say they end up in Aveline’s office a lot, usually with Eleanor Cadash, who they dragged along. Varric bails them out when he can.
Lorain and Blackwall: Only have a daughter named Eleanor. Lorain takes up Varric’s offer of a place in Kirkwall and they raise her there. Tall for a dwarf but short for a human, she’s got her mother’s bright blue eyes and tons of black hair. I honestly didn’t plan to give them a kid but then I realized the comedy potential in Lorain using her Carta connections for weird parenting things like hard to find gifts, background checking dates, and threatening anyone who even so much as considered breaking her daughter’s heart that they might have an “accident.” Thom and Eleanor are both just there like “holy fuck chill, Mom.” Luckily for them she ends up dating and later marrying her childhood friend Diana Hawke.
Aerin and Cullen: They have four and they all tend to follow a mostly unintentional 3:1 ratio: 3 brown 1 blonde, 3 brown eyes 1 green, 3 mages 1 not, 3 girls 1 boy. If I remember right all that was unintentional except I think there used to be another one with green eyes? I can’t remember but when I realized it I was like screw it let’s go for it. The oldest by about five minutes is Magnolia (Maggie), the only non-mage and warrior. She has brown hair she wears in micro-braids, brown eyes, tall and muscular. The second twin is Poppy. Curly brown hair, green eyes, plump, mage. Next is Victoria, who’s nickname is Sunflower because she’s the only one to get Cullen’s blonde hair. Brown eyes, kind of scrawny, and a mage. She’s also the only one to learn necromancy from her mother. The youngest and only son is William (Will). He’s also a mage (probably knight-enchanter?) but he’s over 6 foot and built like a linebacker. Despite this his sisters are all really protective of their “baby brother.” For the most part he actually loves it.
Vega and Josephine: Probably adopt at least one but I haven’t really fleshed much out yet. Vega’s entire mercenary family loves them though and spoils them. Like there’s obviously her fathers but everyone else is also like a weird aunt/uncle/etc.

Inside, outside
Paring: 10k x reader, Addy Carver x sister reader
Warnings: Swearing, character death, violence, mentions of blood and vomit
Chapter: 2.15
“I hope it’s not another top secret underground lab,” Doc says as you wait outside. “That last elevator made me nauseous for a week.”
Murphy let out a huff, “Whatever it is, I just don’t want to get it over with.”
You wouldn’t say it out loud, but you agreed with him. Waiting to see if Warren and Vasquez reappeared was painfully slow. The suspense of not knowing was the only thing stopping you from bursting into laughter at Murphy, who was wearing a long dress, a fur coat, a floppy hat, and shades as a disguise.
10k points his gun towards the restaurant door but lowers it when Warren appears and waves you over.
As you make your way into the restaurant, everyone has their weapons ready to use. When you approached the bar, an older woman with short grey hair who went by the name of Auntie started to pour drinks for your group while making small talk with Warren.
Hearing a sound coming from outside, you walk towards the boarded up windows to look, but Vasquez pulls you back with a frown on his face. He lets go of your shoulder and looks at the waitress, “expecting any more guests?”
With a wide smile on her face, she says, “it’s a busy day.”
Hearing heavy footsteps approach, you quickly sit down with the rest of your group and try to act casual. You take a sip of your tea while your eyes are glued to the door.
A group of men walk in with what appears to be a hostage being dragged along behind them with a bag over his head. They sit down at a table beside the door and order something to drink.
You make eye contact with Addy, who gives you a worried look as the men start talking about ‘the Murphy', as they had heard Auntie was the person to talk to, and they’ve come to claim a bounty. One of the men pulls the bag off the hostage's head to reveal a blue Z that shares a resemblance to Murphy.
One of the bounty hunters smiles over at your table and says, “What do you say, pretty ladies? Want to come over here and I’ll buy you all a drink?”
“Thanks, but we’ve already got drinks.”
The man started to walk towards your table, swaying slightly, “I’ll come to you then.” You felt 10k tense beside you, which the stranger noticed as well. “Don't worry, fellas; I'll buy you both a drink as well. Hell, drinks for everyone!”
Your group remained silent as more of the men approached your table. A chill tingles down your spine when you think back to your last experience with bounty hunters. You’d learned the hard way how ruthless they could be.
“Don’t worry about the Murphy. We got him sedated,” the man said, grinning at Warren.
You squeezed 10k’s knee under the table to get his attention when you noticed the chained Z trying to get to Murphy. Oh shit. Doc picked up on it as well and shook his head.
From behind, one of the bounty hunters believes Murphy is a woman and keeps asking him to dance. Warren gets off the bar stool and reaches for her gun, subtly motioning for all of you to get ready.
The bounty hunter who was talking to Warren before walks up to Murphy and tosses a class jaw at him. When Murphy catches it, the Z copies him, making the men realise who he is.
Everyone in the bar pulls their guns out. Most of them are aimed at Murphy, who starts to remove his disguise, knowing he has no other option.
Your heart rate increases rapidly as a sickly feeling settles inside your gut when one of the men swings his gun in your direction. Your aim is still focused on his leader, but you know if he pulls the trigger, you are dead.
As the Z bites the man holding a gun to Murphy in the neck, 10k shoves you to the ground as multiple gun shots go off. When the shootout stops, you notice your group is still standing unharmed, aside from you and 10k.
You lower your eyes to the spot where you were standing seconds before and your body freezes, “Tommy…”
Hearing a whimpering sound, you quickly snap out of your trance and crawl to 10K who has been shot in the stomach. “Doc,” your voice is muffled and isn't loud enough for anyone to hear. “Doc! He’s been shot!”
Addy and Doc crouch down beside you, visibly shaken. You cup 10k’s cheek when Doc presses a towel onto his bleeding stomach. “You're going to be okay, okay?”
“I’ve been shot,” he says weakly.
“I know, but you’ll be fine. We're going to fix this, Tommy,” you say, trying hard not to cry. “I can’t lose you, so you need to hold on for me.”
Your hand is tightly clasped to 10K’s when soldiers from the CDC arrive to escort Murphy to their lab on a nuclear submarine. You reluctantly move back when the ship's doctor asks to look at 10k’s wound.
You listened in on the conversation between the CDC Captain and Warren. The Captain was questioning if Murphy was the real Murphy. You scowled at him as anger built inside you. He was wasting time while 10k suffered, “you're questioning if he’s the real Murphy? How do we know you are the good guys?”
“She’s right,” Warren said, in agreement. “How do we know you are who you say you are?”
“I understand your reluctance, Lieutenant Warren. We’ve been tracking Delta-Xray-Delta for two years.”
Two years.
“If I’d been through what you’d been through, I’d make damn sure I was giving the package to the right person too.” The Captain faces the doorway, “Doctor, would you mind joining us?”
Dr. Merch enters the restaurant looking sheepish. Murphy storms towards her when she says she's not sure if it's the real Murphy, yelling threats he'd made when she left him for dead.
She steps back, “That’s him. That’s Alvin Murphy.”
You watch as 10k’s is placed on a stretcher and carried onto the back of a truck by two medics. Doc rushes to his side, “it’s gonna be okay, kid. They got a real surgeon. They’re gonna fix you up.”
10k nods before moving his head to look up at you. He clenches his jaw when he tries to sit up. “Don’t move, Tommy,” you say quietly. “You’ve gotta stay still until they…”
You trailed off, not knowing what was going to happen next. You weren’t sure if the bullet had gone through or if it was still lodged in his stomach. 10k forces a weak smile, “I’m gonna be stuck in a confined space with Murphy. That’s gotta be more painful than this, right?”
Tears spill from your eyes as you chuckle at his attempt at a joke. You hear Murphy saying goodbye to the others. “I’m not getting involved in all the love affairs over there,” he scoffs. “Tell Astra to stop picking fights with people bigger than her and to not get killed.”
You roll your eyes at what he just said, but you stay by 10k's side. When the medic says they need to leave you, kiss 10K on the forehead before stepping back from the truck. Doc wraps his arm around your shoulder, watching as they drive away.
“Hey,” Addy stands beside you. “Don’t worry, he’s gonna be fine. 10k’s a survivor.”
Your gaze drops to your stained shoes, not wanting to talk about 10K. Now that the shock was starting to wear off, reality was sinking in. He got shot. He got shot protecting you. If he dies… it’s because of you. You can feel everyone's gaze on you as you remain silent.
Warren seems to sense how uncomfortable you are, because she quickly orders everyone inside to get rid of the bodies.
You remain in the same place as your eyes zone in on the stains on your shoes. The white on the front of them is covered in speckles of blood. 10k’s blood. Addy walks back outside and notices something is wrong almost instantly. “Astra, wrong? Are you hurt?”
You don’t have time to answer her, so you quickly spin to face the other direction and vomit. She rubs your back and tries her best to comfort you as you hold back a sob. When you compose yourself, you wipe the tears from your cheeks and turn your back to face your sister, who’s holding 10k’s backpack. “I thought you might want this.”
You nodded and accepted the bag. Seeing that you wouldn’t be able to carry both his and yours, you open 10k’s bag up to take some of his belongings. Luckily, neither of you had much, so everything fit. You toss his empty bag to the side and go to head inside, but stop when Addy picks something up off the ground.
“What’s that?”
She unfolds the piece of paper in her hands, “it’s a note written to you.”
“What does it say?”
“Astra, I'm-” your sister's voice cracks as a tear rolls down her cheek. “Astra, I'm sorry I couldn't say it before or out loud. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you.”
The two of you share a sad look full of pain when she hands you the note. You chew on your bottom lip trying to think of something to say, but you can’t. You fold the note back up and put it into your pocket. “We should go inside- did you hear that?”
“It’s coming from over there,” Addy points in the direction you came from previously.
“Oh shit.”
You and Addy duck behind a truck as the sound of a gun going off gets closer. Warren, Doc, and Vasquez come out to investigate, but quickly duck down beside you. Bullets hit against the opposite side of the truck. Whoever it was had spotted them.
“Who’s firing at us now? Bounty hunters?”
“No,” Vasquez shakes his head. “It’s zeros.”
The door to the restaurant swings open and Auntie steps outside and fires at the zeros, “everyone inside!”
Once inside, you slam your empty gun onto a table, “how the hell did they find us? And how the fuck are we going to fight them off with no bullets left?”
“Well, if you just ask nicely,” Auntie pulls a lever and a selection of hidden weapons appear behind the bar.
Once everyone has loaded up on ammo, you all find a position beside a door or window to shoot from. Warren crouches down to get a better look outside through a gap in the bordered window. “The fact that they haven’t tried to kick the door open worries me more than if they just kept attacking. Mindless mayhem we can handle. Whatever the hell they’re planning, I’m not so sure.”
La Renia stands in front of her army of zeros waiting for Murphy to be handed over to her, despite being told he’s gone numerous times. Vasquez takes a shot at her, but he misses. His bullet only scuffs the side of her head.
The Zeros open fire and use Z’s as shields.
“I’ll cover the back,” you say before going into another room.
You run calculations in your head, figuring out how long you could hold the zeros back for, and even with the extra weapons and ammo Auntie gave you, it wouldn’t be long before they broke in.
You manage to shoot two zeros in the head before ducking down to reload. Hearing footsteps, you move under a table and aim your gun at the door leading into the room you are in. You were surprised when Warren started to walk into the room backwards with her hands held up. She was talking to someone, but you couldn’t hear who it was over the gunfire.
She moved so her back was against the wall. Her eyes flash to you, “You're too late. Murphy is gone. We gave him to the CDC.”
La Reina stands in the doorway and hisses, “that was a big mistake.”
Warren smirks at her, “Not my first one.”
La Reina lunges at Warren, who moves out of the way before punching her in the face. They start to fight viscously. You almost don’t intervene, scared you’ll accidentally shoot Warren by mistake, but when you see La Reina reach for a glass bottle to use as a weapon, you run towards them.
Warren falls to the ground when she’s hit on the head with the beer bottle. You pull your knife out and stab La Reina in the back of the head before she can stab Warren with the sharp needle in her hand.
Before you have a chance to help Warren to her feet, a zero enters the room and knocks you to the ground. He points his gun at your head, but before he can shoot, Escorpion kills him. You and Warren share a confused look, “I thought you were dead.”
He says nothing but helps you and Warren both get to your feet. Just as Warren thanks him, Vasquez hits him on the back of the head, saying, “Never leave a zombie to do a man’s job.”
“Wait!” Warren pleaded. “He’s just saved our lives.”
“I don’t care.”
Doc notices La Reina’s body, “well ding dong the bitch is dead.”
“Who killed her?” Addy asks, her gaze moving to Escorpion. “Did you kill your queen?”
“I did,” you say flatly. “Then he saved us from a zero.”
“Why?” She asks him suspiciously. “Why would you save them if Astra just murdered your queen?”
Escorpion shakes his head. “She wasn’t my queen. Not since she got that cooked batch of Kurian’s vaccine. I followed them here through all their death and destruction. She wasn’t human anymore. None of them were.” He turns to face Vasquez. “I won’t rob you of your revenge. You’ve earned it. Escorpion deserves to die for what he did to… what I did to your family. If you want to kill me, go right ahead. I’ve been a one-man apocalypse all my life. I’m not afraid to die. Death, shit, that’s all I know. I know it doesn’t mean shit, but I apologise. I’m not that man who killed your family. That man is dead. Killed by the Z’s when you threw me down that hole. I’m that one second, I saw every horrible and malicious thing I ever did and I wanted to die right there and then. But I decided I wanted to survive to make up for all my wrongs and maybe this is how I do it. Do me a favour and pull that trigger.”
Vasquez presses his shotgun against Escorpion’s head. His brown eyes were filled with a mixture of hesitation and rage.
Warren stands beside him, “do what you have to do. But who are you going to be after it’s done?”
Not wanting to see anyone else die, you join her in walking outside.
“So what’s-” Doc is cut off by the sound of a shotgun.
You turn to see Escorpion walking outside and immediately raise your gun at him, “Where’s Vasquez?”
Warren rushes inside but walks back outside alone, teary-eyed, “he’s alive, but he’s not coming.”
“Well, what do we do now, Chief?” Doc asks.
“I do not know. I’m not in charge anymore, but someone else should try and talk to him,” she says before storming off.
Doc and Addy both turn to face you, “why me?”
“Cause you know how to talk to him,” Addy says softly. “I'll keep an eye on Warren while you try to talk sense into him.”
Not wanting to lose anyone else, you go inside to try and talk sense into Vasquez. You spot him sitting by the bar, nursing a bottle of whisky. When you sat down beside him, he shoved a glass he’d already poured in front of you. You notice the picture of him, his wife and daughter sitting on the table, “she’s beautiful, they both are.”
Vasquez finishes his drink before pouring himself another one. He stares straight ahead and in a cold voice says, “You dodged a bullet. Love only makes you weak.”
His words hit you like a slap in the face. You put the empty glass down in front of you before facing him. “You're a fucking coward.”
You leave Vasquez on his own without a second thought.
You reread 10k’s note several times as you walk in silence. Your stomach flutters with butterflies each time you read it. You couldn't wait to see him again. You only lift your head when you hear a vehicle approaching.
Escorpion, or Hector, as he now wants to be called, pulls up beside you. “You need a ride? I have enough food, ammo, and z weed for a month.”
“Well, I'm in,” Doc says as he opens the truck door and climbs inside.
Addy leans into you and Warren, “if we need to, we kill him and take the truck.”
When they agree to the plan, you jump in next to Doc. He gives you a sympathetic smile and squeezes your hand, “The kid will be fine. I’m more worried about what he’ll do to Murphy if he pisses him off.”
You force a smile. He did have a point. It had crossed your mind that 10k would be tempted to try and shoot Murphy if he threatened him again, but deep down you knew it wouldn’t come to that. He wouldn’t risk being away from you and Doc longer than needed.
When the truck comes to a stop, you jump out of it first and run towards the cliff edge, where you notice thick black smoke coming from the sea. “Something is happening!”
Warren looks through her binoculars and says, “It’s sinking.” Warren zooms in on the small boat leaving the submarine. “He had Doctor Merch and the sub Captain.”
“What about 10k?” You and Doc ask in unison.
Warren hands Doc the binoculars just at the same time the submarine explodes. “Tell me he’s on that boat. Tell me 10K’s on it.”
You crumbled to the ground and let out a sob. He was gone. 10k was gone. You can’t tell if you’re having a heart attack or suffocating. All you know is that it’s hard to breathe with the agonising pain ripping through your chest. Any attempt to comfort you was useless; you were inconsolable.
Warren, Doc, Addy, and Hector raise their hands when soldiers surround your group, with automatic weapons aimed at all of you, but you don’t flinch. You watch emotionlessly as the escape boat disappears into the distance.
For the first time, in the face of death, you didn’t feel scared. You knew you were going to survive because you needed to. You weren’t going to die until you made sure every one of those assholes who left 10k to die got what was coming to them.

Inside, outside
Pairing: 10k x reader, Addy Carver sister x reader
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of violence and blood
Chapter: 2.13
The room was silent as all eyes landed on Dr. Kurian as he brought the needle in his hand closer to Vasquez's neck.
Addy squeezed your hand tightly. There was nothing any of you could do to help him. If you, Doc, Addy, or 10k flinched, the zeros would have no problem firing bullets into you. You watched as Vasquez accepted his fate, not even bothering to fight back or try and escape.
Warren whispered something to La Reina which made her stop what was happening. “On second thought, It is such a monumental accomplishment that the honour of the first dose should really go to you, doctor.”
Kurian quickly tried to refuse by saying he wasn’t worthy, but La Reina insisted. With no other choice, Kurian injected the vaccine into his arm. You watched as he stumbled backwards before letting out a loud moan.
After a tense moment, he rose to his feet again, insisting he was fine.
“Test him,” La Reina instructed.
Hector brought a box that contained a Z’s head inside it, and forced Kurian to put his hand inside to be bitten. You grimaced at hearing Kurians' screams.
Despite the fact that you wanted Kurian dead, nobody deserved to go that way.
When he pulled his hand out of the box, he screamed, seeing the large bite marks on his blood covered hand. Regardless of the agonising pain he was in, amazingly, Kurian hadn’t turned.
“How do we get out of this one?” Doc whispered.
You didn’t answer, your mind too focused on watching Kurian inject La Renia with the vaccine. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but something was off.
Murphy jumped from his chair, he offered to give Warren the vaccine himself when La Renia said she was to have it next. You gulped down. You hoped they would run out of vaccines by the time it came to the rest of your group.
“La Reina please,” Hector said, stepping forward. “These people are outsiders. They can’t be trusted,” he turns and looks directly at Warren. “And neither can she.”
La Renia glared at him. “Quite Hector, Be very careful what you say next.”
“I’m just trying to protect what I- what we have built. She brought the assassin. She wants to do you harm, Reina. And I can prove it,” he glanced down at Vasquez. “Just give me more time with him.”
“Go,” La Renia waves him off like a child.
You meet Warren's eyes, hoping she will say something to stop them from hurting Vasquez again, but she doesn’t. You watch as the zeros drag him away for another beating.
You smile at Warren and Murphy walking towards your group as others line up to be vaccinated. You say, through gritted teeth, “What the hell, guys?”
“You feel okay, Roberta?” Doc asks. “Is it working?”
“She didn’t get injected, stupid,” Murphy clarifies.
You narrow your eyes at him. “Why not? What aren’t you telling us?”
“Hey! Everybody!” La Renia yells before making a groaning noise that sounds similar to one an animal would make. “I feel strong. Do you feel strong? We must give this strength to the rest of the world. Doctor! Murphy! You two need to give us more vaccines, and we won’t stop until the rest of the world is safe.”
Murphy quickly nods before leaving the room with Kurian.
“I’ve got Murphy, you guys find Vasquez,” Warren says quietly.
You paced back and forth in the room Doc was staying in. You had no way of escaping, no Vasquez or Murphy, and no plan on how to save either of them.
When Warren entered the room, you knew a bomb was about to drop by the look on her face. “What has Murphy done now?”
She let out a frustrated sigh. “Conspired with Kurian to make a fake vaccine that turns people into zombie blends that he controls.”
“Those psychotic assholes.” You understood why Murphy would do it, but you didn’t understand what Kurian was getting out of making a fake vaccine. “They are making their own zombie slave army.”
“So zombie slave strippers weren’t enough,” Addy shakes her head. “That’s the dark side of ambition.”
“So no California?” 10k asks.
Warren's head shoots up at the question. “No. We’re still going to California. All of us. Absolutely. Even if we need to take Murphy by force, again.”
“What about his zombie slave army? Won’t they get in the way?”
“Yeah, it’ll seem like there’s an incubation period before he has total control. We've gotta get out of here before then. We've gotta get him too.”
“Are you sure about that, chief?” Doc questions. “He damn near got us killed.”
“Vasquez changed. He wouldn’t leave us behind; he’d come back.”
Addy nodded in agreement. “My brains. 10k’s guns. Doc’s…”
“Dumb luck? Funky mojo? Good karma?” The older man suggested.
Addy chuckled. “Yeah, any of those things, and Astras…” She looked you up and down before laughing. “Distracting clothing, we can get him.”
“Come on, sis, you've gotta be quicker before someone comes.”
“It’s been years since I’ve done this,” you sigh. You were attempting to unlock the door to a zero-room with Kirby-grips. You felt relieved when you finally heard the sound of a click, “I’ve got it.”
You and Addy quickly go into the room while 10k and Doc keep watch on opposite ends of the hallway. You changed into the zeros' clothes quickly before taking clothes out for Doc and 10k.
“Oh my god,” Addy gasped before running towards a large box that was moving. “He's inside, and he's not alone!” she said, peering through one of the gaps.
As you tried to figure out how to open the box, Warren with Hector whose hands were bound, and some zeros ran into the room. “Kill them!”
“Stop!” You pull the mask covering your face down, “it’s just us!”
You and Addy both charge forward and stab the two zeros who have suddenly turned in their heads, while Warren and 10k swapped Vasquez for Hector, trapping him inside with the Z instead.
10k helped Vasquez, who was badly injured, stand. Warren puffed out her cheeks. “You guys head to the border, I’m going after Murphy.”
You pull your mask back down, “I’ll go with you.”
“By the way, Kurian is now part Z,” Warren informs you.
“Good thing I’ve been practising my aim then.”
She smirked at your comment. You walked in the direction of Murphy’s voice.
“No, Kurian, no!”
You reach the doorway to the lab and say, “Mind if I borrow that?”
Warren hands you her machete. You walk up behind Kurian and, in one swipe, cut off his zombified head. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”
You meet up with the rest of your group in the same underground passage you came in through. Loud echoing screams bounced off the walls, letting you know La Reina and her surviving zeros were close behind.
“We can’t outrun them,” Vasquez points out.
Doc shakes his head, “We had a plan. We're gonna let the Z’s trapped inside those metallic vents out, but we can’t open the doors.”
The ground starts to shake as Murphy uses his mind to force all the Z’s locked inside to push against the doors. “Everybody run!”
You, 10k, Vasquez, and Doc waited, while Addy and Warren waited to see if Murphy was coming in the tunnels.
You watched as drops of blood dripped off different parts of Vasquez's body. “You should really let me clean those cuts up.”
“She's right,” Doc says, nodding, “don't want those infected.”
“I'm fine,” Vasquez said, waving his hand and stumbling slightly.
You opened your mouth to insist, but stopped when Addy, Warren, and Murphy climbed back up. While the others started to discuss what to do next, you looked around, hearing footsteps.
“Oh my god, Vasquez,” you exclaimed as you took a step back and grabbed Vasquez's arm when he didn't hear you. “He’s alive.”
Hector approached your group with his arms outstretched, covered in blood. “Yo soy Escopion. I don’t die. I kill. No one disrespects me and lives. Who wants to die first, huh?”
Warren aimed her gun at him, but Vasquez pushed her hand down and walked weakly towards him. You look down at the ground, not wanting to see the fight that’s about to happen, especially when you know there's a good chance Vasquez will lose.
You jumped as a bloodied tooth landed next to your foot. You looked up to see Vasquez head butting Hector several times before throwing him into the tunnels below for the Z’s to devour him.
The group walks silently until you reach another parking lot full of sports cars.
“You see that?” Addy grins.
“That same one Dad used to have when we were kids.”
Everyone took a car each, aside from you, who jumped in beside Addy. While looking out the window as she drove you, you noticed something about you. “Oh shit, it’s another drone.”
The second the words left your mouth, the drone landed on the ground, smashing into tiny pieces. 10k. You and your sister let out a laugh as she continued to drive to your next location.

Inside, outside
Paring: 10k x reader, Addy Carver x sister reader
Warnings: Violence, blood and swearing
Chapter: 3.01
You're in a daze. You faintly register the sound of gunshots and yelling going on around you, but you pick up what they are saying. 10k is gone. You only look up when a woman stands in front of you with an unreadable expression on her face.
You glare as she takes a picture of your face on some device, which tells her who you were. “Y/N Carver, this might sting a little.”
You practically growl as a man steps forward and sticks a needle into your neck to check your blood. Addy narrows her eyes at him and asks, “Does it say we don’t play well with others? Because we don’t.”
You roll your eyes and move from kneeling on your knees to sitting on your bum when the woman in charge starts asking where Murphy is. Of course, all these men with guns were looking for him, it was always the same.
Suddenly, you are yanked to your feet by one of the soldiers who orders you to start walking. “Why should I do anything you say? Who even are you?”
You try to fight against the soldier when he ties your hands together. Doc gave you a pleading look, “I know your hurting kid, but please don’t do anything stupid.”
You stare into the older man’s eyes and nod. You let out a frustrated sigh and began walking. The only thing that was stopping you from head butting the soldier was knowing that Doc wouldn’t be able to cope with losing you and 10k. He cared about everyone in your group, but he had a father-like relationship with both of you.
Warren meets your eyes and she says, “We’ll get through this.”
You hoped she was right, but truthfully, you had no idea how you would.
You stare in amazement as a solider throws a grenade that was like nothing you’d ever seen before. Green lasers came out of it and scanned the faces of each Z before killing them. You opened your mouth to tell 10K you'd try to steal some for him, but quickly closed it when you realised he wasn't with you.
When another Z runs out of the tree line, Warren kills it by stamping on its head. She uses this to her advantage, and the woman in charge agrees for you all to have your hands untied and your weapons back.
“So who are you?” Warren asks.
“I am Dr. Sun, a virologist from Laos.” She went on to explain that she’d worked with the best scientists in the world, but so far they hadn’t managed to make a cure, which is why they needed Murphy, but first she needed to find her supply drop.
You take a deep breath to steady yourself as you try to keep your composure as waves of grief start crashing against you. Tommy is dead. The explosion killed him. You'll never see him again. You'll never hug him again. He's gone because he took a bullet meant for you.
You flinch slightly when you feel something touching your hand. Addy gives you a sad smile before linking her fingers with yours.
After walking for a couple of hours, Dr. Sun ordered her men to stop and present you all with weapons they had modified for each of you. You were impressed with the electrocuting arrows that you received.
“Thank you,” you say sincerely before looking over at your sister, who has got an electric bat with spikes sticking out of it. “Hey, we match.”
She let out a nervous chuckle. The advanced weapons freaked her out. You walked towards Doc, who was looking up at the sky, “10K would have loved this.”
“Yeah, he would have. I’m sorry, Astra. If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t have let him go.”
You pushed down the lump forming in the back of your throat. You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything, so you just nodded in agreement before continuing to walk on ahead.
Warren pointed to a parachute on the roof of a large warehouse. “I think the supply drop has gotten stuck up there.”
“Wow,” you say, noticing a couple of Z’s running into the building. “You guys see how fast they are going?”
“Damn,” Hector said, shaking his head. “Those are Enders.”
“Are they some kind of hyped crackhead zombies?” Doc asks.
“They’re worse than zombies. They’re humans, but their brains are fried.”
You watched as more Enders ran into the building. “We aren’t the only ones who are wanting those supplies. We better get ready for another shoot out.”
“Best get our dancing shoes on,” Doc says, seriously. “It’s gonna be a party.”
You followed behind the soldiers as they entered the abandoned building. You noticed how they wasted their bullets by firing at Z’s multiple times instead of aiming for their heads. You could tell the doctor had spent most of the apocalypse behind the safety of walls because she was shocked to see so many bodies and bloodshed.
“The zombies want to eat our brains, but what do the Enders want?” She asks.
“To kill us before we kill them.”
Hector raised his brows when he saw the shocked expression on the doctor's face. She looked almost scared by your words. He walked beside you, “Sometimes people think they can handle a situation in theory, but the reality of it is too much for them to handle.”
You agreed with him but didn’t continue the conversation. You were still unsure if you could trust him or not. When you nearly reached the location, you were ordered to stay back while one of the soldiers threw the same laser grenade as before.
“Enders!” Hector called out before pushing you and Dr.Sun behind a large piece of metal to use as a shield.
One of the Enders threw the grenade back, killing all of the doctors men. Sun Mei let out a yell before diving over to her injured lieutenant. The moment she moved, the Enders began to charge towards your group.
You began shooting at them until the last Ender hit the ground. It was hard to concentrate. All you could think about was how much easier a fight it would have been if 10k was with you. Your eyes scan the area for any more threats but see none. “I think we killed them all.”
Warren nodded, “We better go before their friends come looking for them.”
When you reached the supply point, you weren’t surprised to see that it had been emptied, but Sun Mei was. Her eyes were glossed with fear as she tried to process everything that had just happened.
“Hey, how are you holding up?” Warren asks.
“I’m good.” The older woman frowns at you. Warren had been your leader and friend for over two years. She knew when you were lying. “Okay, I’m not, but I don’t have time to think about what I-we have lost right now.”
She gave you a small smile. She understood how hard it is to try and remain strong when your heart is breaking. Garnett, Mack, and now 10k. History just keeps repeating itself.
“I never got to ask before, what happened with Vasquez?”
Your face scrunched up at the mention of his name. “He was a jackass... I don’t know if it matters now, but he did care for you. He was just so caught up in his need for revenge that his anger blinded him to it.”
Warren patted you on the back and said, “Thank you. Now let’s get the hell out of here and figure out what’s next.”
You relished the feeling of the rain hitting your skin. Despite the fact that it was probably filled with chemicals, it somehow made you feel cleaner. You overheard Warren and Hector's conversation as you walked towards them.
“What do you think?” He asked, looking at Sun Mei, who was visibly distraught.
“That it’s time for a new plan.”
You were about to ask Warren what she was thinking but got distracted by a noise coming from inside the building. It was a metallic tapping noise, and it was very annoying.
“I’ll be right back,” you say.
With your knife ready, you try to investigate the noise but can’t find its source. You feel like all eyes are on you. “Tommy?” You whispered, “Tommy?”
You feel stupid for thinking there was any possibility he would answer you. Giving up your search, you turn to leave but are confronted with an Ender. You reach for your gun, but it’s too late. Somebody beat you to it. The bullet hit the ender in the chest, causing blood to pour out through his shirt. The Ender lets out a high pitched moan before gargling up blood and falling to the ground.
You look around before crouching down beside him, “So who shot you?”
Assuming that it was someone in your group who shot the Ender and it was the Ender that made all the noise, you left. You had no idea that 10k was watching you from afar with tears in his eyes. That he wanted to run to you but had to stay away for your own safety. He wasn’t safe to be around, not since Murphy bit him.
You noticed your group standing around a jeep talking to someone. Murphy. Anger filled your veins. You walked up to the vehicle, swung the door open, dragged him out, and threw him onto the ground. “You son of a bitch! Where is he? Where is 10k?”
Murphy gulped down, “He didn’t make it.”
“Bullshit,” you hiss before punching him in the face. You continue to take all your anger and frustration out on Murphy before being dragged off him by your sister.
“Astra, this isn’t helping.”
“Let me go! 10k didn’t deserve to die!”
“And thanks to you, he’s dead. It wasn’t me he took the bullet for.”
You practically lunge from your sister's grasp and hook him, before feeling arms wrap around your waist. “Screw you!” Both Addy and Hector were holding you back. “You’ve been dying to get rid of him for ages!”
Murphy stood up and pretended to be innocent when everyone else glared at him. “I have no idea what she’s talking about!”
“Really, what about the time you went to bite him? Or did you conveniently forget about that!”
“Murphy,” Addy said sternly. “Did you try to bite 10k?”
“If I was lying, one of his zombified pets would have shot me,” you hissed. “But he’s not making them do it because he knows I’m not lying!”
Knowing he couldn’t lie his way out of it, Murphy said nothing. Addy let you go, and motioned for Hector to do the same. When you are free, you pin Murphy to the ground again. “If I find out you were behind that explosion or you did anything to hurt 10k, it will be your last day as a human. Got it?”
When you stepped back, Murphy stood up and dusted himself off. He smirked at you, “10k scarified himself for you, but I wonder how far you would go to save him. Probably not enough.”
You attempted to hit Murphy again, but Doc pulled you back and away from everyone else. “Come on, he’s not worth it.”
“But Tommy was!” You cried.
“I know he was, but he wouldn’t want to see you like this. The kid wouldn’t want to see you fall apart.”
“But I can’t do this without him… I don’t know how.”
Doc stroked your hair gently as you sobbed into his chest. You only stopped crying when more Enders appeared and you needed to run.
“Murphy has officially lost it,” Addy says, throwing her hands in the air dramatically. “He has already turned Dr. Merch into a blend along with real soldiers. How are we supposed to ever get close enough to take him?”
“It’s gonna be tough,” Warren clicks her tongue. “But we are gonna stop him. I’m not sure how yet, but we need to if we want to save humanity.”
“I’m in. I’ll do whatever it takes to stop him from ruining anymore lives.”
Murphy's words replay in your head. I wonder how far you would go to save him. Something wasn’t adding up. Nobody in your group would have had enough time to shoot the Ender that tried to attract you and get outside before you did. Murphy was a pathological liar, and he didn’t care that you beat the shit out of him. He just smirked, as if he knew something you didn’t.
Maybe you only believed it because you wanted to, but you had a gut feeling 10K was alive.

Inside, outside
Pairings: 10k x reader, Addy Carver x sister reader
Warnings: Swearing
Chapter: 3.05
You stare into the broken mirror while your fingers run across the faint bruise on your neck. You didn’t want the theme to fade. The love bites you once found embarrassing were the only reminder you had of the night you spent with 10k.
Why couldn’t you have just stayed there?
Addy opens the door to the bathroom slowly. She gazes at you for a moment before she says anything, “Warren says it’s time to go.”
“Let's go then,” you say as you grab your belongings from the sink and turn to face her.
Addy tries to reassure you by saying, “it won’t be long, you know? Before we find Murphy. Warren will find him and Sun Mei will get the vaccine. After that, we can try and have a normal life again.”
“Once Sun Mei has everything she needs for a vaccine, Murphy's a dead man.”
You walk with your bow in hand and arrows easy to grab on your belt, while the rifle you took from the hospital for 10k is slung over your shoulder, ready for any Z’s. Doc was beside you pushing a shopping cart up the hill that 10k was sleeping on. “How many drugs did you give him?”
“A cocktail strong enough to put me on my ass, that’s for sure. He just needs to sleep it off.”
You offered to take over and push for a while, but Doc declined your offer. “I dunno how much more of this zombie shit I can take. If anything else happened to either one of you, I might just have to go out in a blaze of zombie glory.”
“Well, we’ve got him back,” you smile.
No words could describe how happy you were that you’d found 10k again, but fear kept creeping into the back of your mind. Murphy would be looking for him, and with him going crazier by the day, you knew it wouldn’t be good when he found him again.
Hearing a car engine, you help Doc move the cart behind a car that’s abandoned by the side of the road. You crouch down to hide from whoever is inside it.
“Oh my... Warren!” Doc runs back out onto the road when it passes you. “Astra, it’s them!”
You run up behind him and wave your arms and yell, “Addy! Warren!”
The vehicle comes to a screeching halt. Warren runs straight for Doc, while Addy rushes to you and pulls you in for a hug. “Where the hell have you guys been? We’ve been looking everywhere for you. Did you see the zombie spiders?”
“Zombie spiders?” A chill ran up your spine. “No, I think that would have topped me over the edge.”
“What happened to you two?” Warren looked genuinely concerned.
“Well, have you seen the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest? Mix in the zombies and Elvis. It’s a long story.”
“We found 10k!” You blurt out.
You turn back around to see the cart rolling down the hill. You run down the hill to grab a hold of it, then get Doc to help you get him out.
You stand by the open boot of the vehicle watching 10k sleep. It made you nervous how many questions were being asked, and your biggest fear was someone spotting the bite on the back of 10k’s neck.
Warren stands beside you and frowns, “Why is he so drowsy?”
“It’s all the medication they had him on,” Doc answers quickly. “Astra was the same when I found her. The kid just needs to sleep it off.”
When 10k wakes up, he’s afraid. He leaps from the boot and lets out a groan of pain when he lands on the road. When Hector tries to help him up, he starts to back away.
“Hey, hey. He’s on our side now,” you say gently.
“She’s right,” Hector confirms. “You don’t have to worry about me any more. I’m with you now, bro.”
With 10K conscience, Warren gives him a hug with a wide grin on her face. When Addy hugs him, she avoids making eye contact with you. Hell, your sister hadn’t said a single word to you since she found out he was alive.
10k starts to explain what Murphy's plan is, but when he starts to get confused, Doc hands him a drink of water and says he’s not making sense because he’s dehydrated.
“Is Doctor Merch still alive?” Sun Mei asks.
10k looks at Warren, who nods and tells him to tell her. “Murphy bit her twice.”
“Son of a bitch.”
“Merch is making Murphy a blend vaccine so he can control them without biting them.”
“Are you sure we need this guy alive?” Hector questions.
10k shakes his head, “You can’t kill him.”
Everyone stares at him. “He’s right. We would never get close enough to kill him.”
You and Doc share a worried look. If 10k kept slipping up, the others would notice quickly that something else was going on.
Luckily, the roads have been Z-free for the majority of your journey so far. You walk in a line, standing beside 10K, while Doc and Addy fill him in on what he’s missed.
“What happened to Vasquez?”
The memory of you calling him a coward before leaving him alone in the bar flashed before your eyes. “We haven’t seen him since California. He’s probably run himself into a horde of Z’s.”
10k nudges you with his elbow, “Want to talk about?”
You sigh, “later.” Looking down, you notice 10k’s hand starting to tremble, so you link your fingers with his and try to change the subject. “I’m much more interested in hearing about zombie spiders.”
Addy pulls a face. “Don’t even.” You walk in silence until Addy clears her throat and asks casually. “So 10k, you really tried to leave clues to let us know you were alive?”
You hoped Addy would be feeling guilty for not believing you and calling you delusional, but if she was feeling bad, she wasn’t letting on.
“Yeah, I tried to anyway.”
You squeezed his hand, "I knew it was you who shot that Ender.”
10k smiles at you. I wonder how far you would go to save him. Murphy’s words echoed inside your head. The more you thought about it, the clearer it became that he knew. He knew you’d figure out your boyfriend was still alive and that you’d do anything to save him, which scared you.
Time feels as if it’s passing slowly as you continue to walk up the road while the sun beams down on you. You zoom out of Doc and 10k’s conversation, noticing the look on your sister's face. You could tell she was gearing up to say something that would probably piss you off. On cue, she looks at 10k. “If you saw us at the warehouse, why did you stay with Murphy instead of coming to us? You let us think you were dead.”
To be fair, you understood Addy’s question. Unless you knew all the facts, it was hard to understand why anyone would choose to leave with Murphy.
His soft facial expression changed as seriousness settled on his features. “Because Murphy's is dangerous. I didn’t have a choice.”
“How? You could have easily overpowered him.”
“I just didn’t have a choice.”
Addy gives him a look that lets you know she knows he’s lying. “10k-”
You can see the panic in his eyes. He was struggling to know what to say. “It doesn’t matter now,” you interrupt. “All that matters is that we are all together and hunting down that blue son of a bitch.”
Addy looked bewildered. “You’re telling me that you don’t want to know exactly what happened?”
You watch as sweat starts to drip down 10k’s neck. When Doc gives you a wide-eyed look, you need to stop the questions.
“No,” you say in a low voice. “Not right now.”
“I don’t think we should keep that guy around if he’s making formulas,” Hector says as your group approaches a small boating dock.
“Anyone who plays God is-” When you notice all the Z's chained to cars outside the boathouse, you cut yourself off. “Holy shit.”
Doc walks closer to one of the cars and inspects it. He lets out a sign. “It’s the red hands alright. These guys are starting to take all the fun out of the apocalypse.”
10k whispers in your ear, “We need to talk.”
You nod, noticing Sun Mei and Addy looking in your direction. You suggested looking around for more dead. The paranoia was starting to kick in, and you were convinced everyone would be able to see his bite mark underneath his clothes. You knew for a fact that 10k would be treated like a lab rat if the others found out and you couldn’t let that happen. You couldn’t lose him again.
“Hey, guys!” 10k calls out, pointing towards a sign that’s been spray painted. “Look at this.”
You squint your eyes, stepping closer to it to get a better look. On the bottom, it says car thieves pay with their lives, and on the top, it just says the word Escopion written in what looks like blood.
“Hey 10k, Astra, come over here, will ya?” Doc asks, waving you both over to what was once a small cabin you could rent boats from.
You quickly show mercy to the Z chained to a nearby tree by shooting an arrow into its head, then go inside to join them.
As your eyes scan over the messy room, 10k and Doc stop talking, and both turn to look at you. “What’s going on?”
“He wants me to tell Warren.”
You turn your gaze to the room's door, making sure no one is approaching from behind you before closing it. “Are you crazy? We can’t do that.”
The older man gave you a pleading look and said, “You gotta trust her, she will do the right thing.”
“It's not Warren, I don't trust the doctor,” you said before interrupting yourself as Warren entered the room. The three of you whispering hadn’t gone unnoticed by the others. She knows. You pretend to be looking at the mess in the room, avoiding the look on her face that reminds you of the one your mom had whenever you got into trouble as a kid.
“There you are, 10K,” she says as she sits beside him and pulls out a vial containing a urine-colored liquid. “What do you know about this?”
“These had to come from my airdrop, but what’s inside them?” Sun Mei asks in an accusing tone. “They should be empty.”
“I dunno what’s in them,” 10k says with a shaky voice. “Doctor Merch gave them to me to keep them safe.”
“Really?” Warren asks, unconvinced.
You look down, your anxiety spiking, your eyes landing on a large red stain in the corner of the room. You fixate your gaze on it while 10k continues to weakly lie. “I dunno. Well, she was giving Murphy some booster shots to keep him from turning into more of a zombie. Maybe that’s what’s in them. Maybe they’re for Murphy.”
Sun Mei takes the vial from Warren, “Maybe bits of the original vaccine. Small doses might act as some kind of booster shot. slowing down his deterioration.”
“Or,” Warren clicks her tongue. “It might be whatever cocktail of Murphy's blood they’re giving the blends.”
She knows.
10k reminds you of one of those dog mascots you put in cars by the way he nodded his head. Warren smirks at him, “okay.” She goes to leave the room but stops and turns to you, “You know what I admire the most about you, Astra?”
You shake your head.
“Your loyalty.”
When she leaves, you let out the breath you’d been holding. You were totally screwed. She knew all three of you were hiding something and was just trying to figure out what it was.
After hearing Murphy’s voice blasting from the speakers on the top of a van, your group followed it until it suddenly pulled over at the side of the road. Warren signalled for you to move in and search the van.
You approached the side door and opened it to be greeted with a dead body covered in red spray paint. “It’s the red hand.” You jumped into the van and looked at the driver, “he was shot in the back, how come he didn’t turn?”
“He’s a blend. Look at the other side of his face,” 10k says bluntly.
Sun Mei pulls the man’s head back to reveal a bite mark on his cheek. Warren steps forward to look at the body. “So when blends die, they don’t turn?”
“Yeah, and zombies ignore you like you’re one of them.”
“Maybe Murphy's on to something,” Doc shrugs.
“He’s just trying to help people.”
You tense up in response to 10k's remark. Murphy was obviously more active inside his head than he was letting on. Confused by his comment, everyone stares, waiting for him to explain.
“Become blends,” he adds. “There’s more too. He’s planning some kind of expedition to Springfield, Illinois.”
“Oh god…”
Both Hector and Sun Mei question what’s in Springfield. “Why would he leave the safety of his hideout to go to Springfield? What’s he looking for?”
“Lucy, his daughter.”
Sun Mei's eyes practically started to glow at the news. “Murphy has a child? Do you know what this means? She could have inherited his immunity.”
“We've got to get to Lucy before Murphy does,” Warren says seriously. “Let’s get some grub and make a plan.”
You scrunch your nose up at the dinner Addy was making, which consisted of roasted crickets and a few cockroaches.
“Crickets de gallo” Warren says playfully before pacing around a tray with the dead bugs on it. You take a few and eat them quickly before washing them down with water. They were disgusting, but better than nothing.
After you finished eating Warren came up with a plan for the group to split up, one half would go after Murphy and the other goes to find Lucy.
You watch as guilt passes over your boyfriend's features as he draws a copy of a map that leads to Lucy. You had never seen him so anxious before, and it frightened you to think about what would happen if a Z attacked him at that moment. Would he kill it as normal, or would the voice inside his head force him to stop?
“All right. Doc, Addy, and Astra, you guys go after Lucy.”
“No!” 10k cuts her off, earning him a few questionable looks.
“No too... what?”
“Astra can’t go, she just can’t.”
Warren turns to look at you, expecting an explanation for his strange behaviour. You lean in to her, “I think he’s got PTSD from being shot and living with Murphy on his own. It’s probably best if I stay with him.”
Warren looks at 10k and gives into his pleading look. “You two need to work on your separation anxiety,” she says quietly before addressing the rest of the group again. “Okay, so Addy and Doc go, and the rest of us will continue to Spokane, and we’ll do whatever we can to stop Murphy.”
“Bring it in, kid!” Doc extends his arms open for you to hug him. When he pulls you in, your eyes instantly start to tear up with fear, but you manage to pull it together.
You let go of him, “I’m scared for him, Doc.”
“Me too.”
When your sister approaches you, Doc fakes a smile. She twiddled with a piece of your hair, “stay safe.”
“You too, Addy.”
It felt wrong. Instead of standing in awkward silence just looking at each other, you and Addy should hug before splitting up. Screw it. You surprised her by wrapping your arms around her. Yes, you were still pissed at Addy, but saying goodbye was more important.
As you walk behind Warren, Hector, and Sun Mei, you slow your pace, noticing 10k was doing the same thing. He gave you a sad smile as he put his arm around your shoulder, “I need to tell you something.”
You feel as if your heart has dropped into your stomach. You feel as if a bomb is about to be dropped, and it will destroy what little faith you had that this plan would work. Since the moment your group split up, you couldn’t escape the feeling that you were walking into a trap.
“What is it?” You ask nervously.
“I didn’t just stay away because I was bitten. At first I did. Being at the warehouse and seeing you killed me. All I wanted was to be with you, but I couldn’t risk it. When I saw how insane Murphy had gotten, I kept trying to leave, but he said… he said he’d find you and make you take my place instead. He threatened to turn you into a blend.”
Oh shit.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner? We shouldn’t have come here.”
He squeezed his eyes shut. “I know, I know. I panicked at the thought of us being a part, but you would have been safer with Addy and Doc. It’s so hard, Astra.” He opens his and looks down at you. “One minute I’m me, the next he’s in my head telling me what to do, and I’m struggling to fight it.”
You reach out and cup the side of his face. “We will get through this, okay. I just wish there was a way I could take this pain from you or help.”
10k’s eyes are full of adoration as he leans down to press a soft kiss to your lips. “One day I’m going to take you away from all of this. No mission. No, Murphy. Just us, living peaceful lives.”
You smile widely at him, “And until then?”
“We do whatever it takes to survive.”
Things went from bad to worse in a matter of minutes, and now you are left standing speechless. When you arrived at Spokane, 10k tried to answer Warren and Hector's questions about the town, but he kept zoning out.
When he claimed to be hungry and was going looking for food, nobody believed him. You approached him at the car, chewing on your bottom lip, as he rummaged through Sun Mei bags looking for one of the booster vile's. “Tommy, I know I didn’t agree with Doc before, but you need to tell Warren before-”
“Telling me what?” Warren stops beside you and opens her hand, showing the vials. “Looking for these?”
10k pauses for a moment before snatching them from her grasp and attempting to flee, but Hector catches him by the back of his shirt, revealing his bite mark.
You run your hands through your greasy hair as 10k ignores yours and Warren's pleas to come back and run away.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Warrens asks as you approach the fence looking into Spokane.
“He was scared, and honestly, so was I.”
Warren raises her brows, “scared of what? We’d show him mercy?”
“No, no. Well not you anyway,” you say, looking at Hector, who just shrugs.
“I probably would have tried to kill him to be fair,” he says before laughing. “Do you think he will be okay out there on his own?”
You nod. “I don’t like that he’s out there alone, but 10k’s a survivor. As long as he stays clear of Murphy, he will be fine.”
Sun Mei shakes her head and mumbles something under her breath so softly that no one can understand what she is saying.
Warren snaps her head back to look at her, “Problem?”
The doctor looks you in the eyes, causing you to roll your eyes. “She has no idea what she’s done by not disclosing this information sooner. He could have-”
“He has a name,” you snap. “I didn’t tell anyone he was bitten because of you.”
“His blood could have helped us find a vaccine. You should have told me.”
You pull a face, “should have? Lady the first time we met, one of your men pointed a gun at me while you stuck a needle in my neck. Like hell was I going to let you anywhere near my boyfriend.”
“All right,” Warren says, stepping in front of you and pressing her hand against your shoulder. “Let’s just cool down. We can only deal with one problem at a time.”
You look up at the night sky, wondering if Addy, Doc, and 10k were looking at it as well. You spot something bright and moving fast through the air, “What is that?”
“A flare.”
One by one, all the buildings in Spokane started to light up. Murphy had managed to get electricity up and running in the whole town. You had a feeling things were about to get a lot worse before they got better.

Inside, outside
Pairings: 10K x reader, Addy Carver sister x reader
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of blood
Chapter: 2.09
The roads were quiet, too quiet. The only sound you could hear was from the tape playing in the latest vehicle your group was using.
Vazquez turned the music down and said to Warren, “We need to get off the road.”
“I don’t like being so far into zero’s territory, but I guess we really don’t have a choice.”
You covered your ears as 10K shot a Z that had been sliced multiple times, “4234.”
“This place is giving me the creeps. Between the clear night sky, the radio cutting out, and the cut up dead guys on the road, I’m starting to feel like I’m in a horror film. Most likely with aliens.”
Murphy scoffed at your comment, “Those types of things don’t exist.”
“You have literally been bitten by zombies.”
“Well, I mean, maybe there are zombies, but there sure as hell ain’t no aliens.”
Seconds after Murphy said that, the engine cut out and a weird static noise came through on the radio. You couldn’t help but laugh when 10K says, “Sounds like alien crosstalk to me.”
Murphy glared at him, “You're just saying that to piss me off.”
The static noise became more clear and sounded like garbled talk. You squint your eyes when a bright light starts to come down on your group from the sky. “Does anybody have a clue what that is?”
You all watched stunned as the light zoomed past you and beamed something onto the ground before flying away.
Music fills the truck again as it turns back on. What the hell just happened?
You zoned out of the conversation a little until Murphy snapped at 10K and threatened to bite him if he didn’t stop talking about aliens.
You earned shocked looks when you smacked Murphy on the back of the head.
He tried to shrug it off as a joke, “I was only kidding.”
“So..”
You looked at your sister quizzically, as she gave you a wide-eyed look. The rest of your group had walked ahead while you and Addy stayed in the truck in case they needed a quick getaway. “So?”
“It’s me. I’m your sister. I can tell something is going on.”
You looked away from her, “We are living through a zombie apocalypse. There’s always something going on.”
“Don’t be such a smart ass,” she huffed. “Be honest with me, are you still mad that we were going to leave without 10K?”
You watched intensely as Z’s approached. Warren and Vasquez killed a few of them, before 10K took down the last two, “4237.
“Astra!”
“No, I’m not mad, okay!”
Addy folded her arms and leaned back into the drivers' seat, “Well, something is different. Did you and 10K have a fight?”
“No, everything is fine. Stop worrying.”
“I’m your sister. I can't.”
You blew out your cheeks. You felt bad, but you couldn’t tell Addy that 10K lied to you or that Murphy threatened to bite him.
You squeezed her hand, “I know. I love you for it, but you don’t need to worry about me so much, okay?”
She shook her head, “You’re my baby sister. I’ll never stop.”
Your face lit up as Warren pulled into a car park just outside of an abandoned restaurant. The town you had arrived in was alien themed, and every building had spaceship decorations on them.
“Looks like we've got some believers inside.”
You were very surprised to see people who were alive standing inside the fenced-up dinner. A man named Roy greeted you as you entered.
Rot was leading a group who believed aliens were coming to save them from the zombie apocalypse.
A blonde woman approached and talked about transitioning while sniffing you before moving on to Addy. When she finally reached Murphy, she stated that he was the ‘chosen one’, another wack job who thought he was a saviour.
Conversation within your group was stranger than usual. Warren was actually discussing going to an abandoned airfield to try and find an aircraft to fly to California.
“I can show you.”
You almost fell out of your chair when the blonde woman, Bernadette, suddenly spoke up. You hadn’t even noticed her sitting beside you. “I can show you where the base is. It’s not that far. I go there all the time. That’s where they contact me.”
“The aliens?”
“They prefer the term visitors.”
Warren smiled at her and said, “Who knows, maybe we’ll find a plane and a radio.”
“Or Bigfoot,” Murphy snarked.
“Hey, don’t laugh. My uncle had a Sasquatch pelt.” 10K stated firmly.
The insane blonde woman changes the subject. “Come with me, I’ll show you.”
Once on the road, Bernadette informed everyone that the reason so many Z’s had strangely shaped cuts on their bodies was because the aliens did it to protect her.
You placed your sleeve in front of your mouth to muffle a laugh. At the same time, the last thing you wanted to do was offend her, but at the same time, you couldn’t take anything she said seriously.
When you arrived at the airfield, Addy and Warren split off from the rest of the group to check if their radios were still working, while the rest of you looked around for anything else that could be useful.
“Do you guys see anything?”
“Nope.”
“No.”
“Nada.”
You weren’t surprised. Every room you checked so far only had useless paperwork in it. Vazquez was more irritated than usual. “What’s your take on all of this then?”
“I think we are wasting our time,” he scoffed. “Little green men aren’t going to jump down from the sky and help us get Murphy to California anytime soon. What do you think of our new friend out there? Think she’s dangerous?”
“She’s wearing all white,” Doc answered. “I definitely think she’s in some type of cult.”
All three men started staring at you as if you’d grown a second head. “I think she’s convinced herself that all this is real so that she has a purpose and people who care about her.”
Vazquez rolled his eyes and said, “There’s no excuse for insanity. If she tries anything funny, I’ll shoot her in the head.”
You shrug off Vazquez's comment. You lean back against the small wooden table and cock your head to the side, confused, noticing the look on 10K’s face. “What’s wrong?”
“Something is not adding up. She brought us here, but there’s nothing to see.”
“Yeah like I said,” Vazquez quipped. “She’s wasting our time.”
“She brought us out for a reason. Whatever it is, I think she’s changed her mind.”
You regrouped with your sister and Warren in the hangar, where Bernadette informed everyone that the visitors were only coming to save the humans they thought deserved it.
“You better hope they have a higher opinion of humanity than I do.”
Although Bernadette looked taken aback by Murphy's words, you actually agreed with him.
“What about the top secret areas?” 10K asks. “You know more about this base than you’re telling us, don’t you?”
The blonde clenched her jaw before putting her head down.
“Is there some kind of hidden base you’re not telling us about?” Warren asked sternly.
“They told me to bring the emissary.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know, that’s what the voices say.”
Murphy’s eyes widened, “the voices?”
“The voices. I hear them in the light.”
The more Bernadette spoke, the more convinced you were that this was some kind of trap for someone to get to Murphy. “What are these voices saying?”
“I didn’t understand it when I first heard it. Only later does it make sense. I just know what they mean. They want to take us away to a better place. They said they would soon. They’re making repairs, but they’ll be finished soon.”
“Uh hu,” you said as you spun around to face Warren. “I think we should get the hell out of here before the visitors arrive.”
Despite your concerns, Warren asked the blonde to show you where she heard the voices. “We will be better equipped to deal with… whatever this is once we know what it is.”
Bernadette led you into a small room that didn’t have much in it, aside from a small kitchen area and a cigarette and gum dispenser.
“That’s weird,” Addy said, noticing random objects in the room were magnetic.
You looked over at the blonde and noticed she was strapping herself into her chair with a seatbelt. Warren noticed as well, and scrunched up her face. Her brown eyes darted across the room until they landed on Doc, about to pull on the dispenser, “Doc no!”
Doc pulled on it at the same time Warren yelled.
The doors automatically locked, and the shutters came down at the windows before the room began to shake. 10K wrapped his arms around you protectively.
“Is it an earthquake?!”
“No, it’s an elevator!” Warren said frantically.
The room went into darkness as the shaking became more aggressive. You and 10K got separated when somebody fell into you, causing you to fall into the wall and hit your head.
When the lights came on, everyone, aside from Bernadette, was laying on the ground.
“We’re here,” the blonde said cheerfully.
“What kind of acid trip fun house elevator ride was - oh shit kid, you alright?”
It wasn’t until you heard the concern in Doc’s voice that you realised something was wrong. You were still reeling from the drop and hadn’t noticed the blood dripping from your head.
Your legs wobbled slightly as you stood up. You looked in the mirror that was nailed to the wall and saw the cut across your forehead. “Damn it.”
Addy stepped in front of you, “do you feel dizzy? Do you want to stay here? Me or 10K can stay with you so you are not alone.”
“And miss whatever freak show is down here,” you chuckled. “No chance. But thank you for asking.”
You stayed at the back of your group as Warren led the way forward with her gun ready. Vazquez and Murphy had tried to convince her that whatever was down here wasn’t worth the risk, but she insisted on pushing forward.
The hallway had pipes running along either side of the walls, which somehow added to the creepy mess of it.
When the lights began to go bright, Bernadette turned around with a wide smile on her face. “They’re here. Just like they said. Aren’t they beautiful?”
You froze on the stop. There was a creature crouched down on the ground. Its skin was jet black and looked almost metallic. You squeezed 10K’s arm when it started to stand up. When he started to walk closer to the group, Warren, Vazquez, and 10K fired at it until it finally died.
A loud beeping filled the room seconds before the creature exploded.
You kneeled down to get a better look at the creatures' exploded insides, while Addy left to investigate a different beeping sound. “Zombie guts and alien blood. Whatever this was, it died a long time ago.”
“Come on,” Warren said, helping you to your feet. “It’s not safe here. We should keep moving.”
“Guys,” Addy reappeared out of breath. “You might want to come see this.”
Addy showed you an interactive screen that looked like it belonged in a sci-fi movie.
“Do you think you’ll be able to contact citizen Z on it?”
“Maybe, with the chance, I'll alert whoever is on the other side of this as well.”
Warren nodded. “You do that. Doc, stay here with Addy and Astra, while the rest of us go look around.”
A groan left your lips as you rubbed your head. Between all the cuts and bruises you’d gotten since starting this mission, it was a miracle you hadn’t died yet.
“Astra, come look at this.”
Hearing your sister's voice, you got to your feet and made your way to the screen. “Oh my god… is that me?”
“Yip, and 10K making out by a tree,” she smirked.
She wasn’t wrong. The clip playing moved between you and 10K, Serna throwing up while Addy rubbed at her back, and Warren and Vazquez looking over a map. “This wasn’t long ago. Whoever this is knew we were coming,” you slid your finger across the screen, changing the image. Nearly every bit of information was about Murphy. “You are one wanted man.” You stepped back. “Do you think they are-”
You were cut off by the sound of another explosion.
Addy grabbed hold of your hand, “let’s go!”
You were relieved to see 10K, Vazquez, and Warren waiting in the hangar.
“You guys won’t believe what- what the hell is that?”
A blue light was beaming down and shining over Bernadette. The beam moved to Murphy when he stepped outside to get a better look.
10K tried to shoot at the ship in the sky, but whoever was operating it began shooting at anyone who approached Murphy.
Warren picked up a laser gun from the ground and took aim at the ship. The ship's lights began to flicker and the blue beams stopped. Taking the opportunity, you ran forward and grabbed Murphy.
Seconds later, the ship crashed into the ground, bursting into flames.
A man named Dan Scully, who you’d meet at the restaurant, previously crawled out of the ship, and confessed to being behind the whole thing. He did it all because he loved Bernadette and was afraid she wouldn’t leave him without the aliens.
“How do you have videos of Murphy and the rest of us?”
“Face recognition software.”
That explains a lot. When Dan died of the injuries he got from the crash, Bernadette gave him mercy.
It was a bitter-sweet ending for him.
“We leave in twenty minutes. So everyone does what they got to before them, so I don’t need to drag anyone by their ass back outta here.”
You chuckled at Warren's comment before heading into the bathroom of the gas station. It didn’t have much food or supplies left, but it did have running water.
You splashed some cold water on your face before starting to scrub at the cut on your head. Luckily, it was mainly superficial, and the bruise from hitting it was small.
When you heard the door handle being turned, you pulled your knife from its holster, ready to attack, but you sat it back down when 10K walked into the bathroom. “Sorry…” his eyes widened when he saw you holding a weapon, “I should have knocked.”
You returned to scrubbing at your face until it was almost presentable. You started to wipe at the blood stains on your shirt until 10K stopped you.
“Here, take this,” He handed you a semi-clean top he’d taken out of his bag. “You’ll freeze to death.”
“Thank you,” you said, kissing his cheek before accepting it.
You placed the top on the counter before pulling the one you were wearing over your head. You looked up at 10K and noticed how his eyes were fixated on your almost bare chest. Your cheeks reddened. The bra that you were currently wearing was two sizes too small, causing it to push your breasts up.
“Tommy…”
His lips crashed into yours while your eyes fluttered shut. 10K’s hands cupped your face while he deepened the kiss. You wrapped your legs around his waist when he picked you up and ran your fingers through his hair. 10K sat you on the edge of the counter as he started kissing your neck.
You ran your hands over his shoulders, shoving his jacket off in the process. A soft sigh left your lips as he began kissing your clothed breast.
“Ugh! You two are disgusting!”
You both jumped at the sound of Murphy’s voice. You were so caught up in the moment that you hadn’t heard him barging in.
“Didn’t anyone teach you how to knock!" 10K snapped.
You tried not to laugh, considering neither of them had knocked before coming into the bathroom. Your smile faded when you noticed Murphy staring. Frowning, you put the top 10K gave you on, “you look at me like that again, and I’ll poke your eyes out.”
Murphy huffed, before unzipping his jeans to pee. You scrunched up your nose. He was truly vile.
When you stepped outside the bathroom, both you and 10K burst into laughter. Shaking your head, you grabbed his hand and said, “We better go wait in the truck.”
For the rest of the ride, you sat giggling like teenagers.
