"No pressure. No time limit. You set the pace and I'll just...follow your lead." (Flashback, p. 663)
"[...] the way she was chewing her lip made Sophie pretty sure that Biana was asking herself the same question Sophie was. Would Fitz wait?" (Legacy, p. 523)
killing and maiming, Fitz I'm so sorry they'd do this to you bbg I'm so sorry the intrigue of relationship drama was deemed more important than staying true to your character. I could write you so much justice

Team foster keefe headcannons?
YES YES YES OMG
So first, the angst
Sophie and Keefe have some hard stuff near the end of canon bc Keefe has a really hard time letting go of his urge to never trust, to separate off, to run away, and to steal from Sophie to do it (has anyone else noticed the sheer amount of times his little rogue plans involve stealing from Sophie?? Because I DEFINITELY HAVE)
There’s a scene similar to the one in nightfall where Sophie tells him off for it again but then she realizes that what he really needs to hear isn’t that he has to work as a team, but that whatever he’s thinking or planning or considering—he doesn’t have to do it alone. It can be the worst idea in the universe and Sophie won’t immediately shut him down. She’ll head him out and brainstorm with him and she PROMISES. She tells him she wants to be there for him and she can’t do it if he keeps shutting her out.
And when that seems to be working, she adds, “I promised you I wouldn’t let you mess this up, didn’t I?”
Tearful hugs.
Sophie realizes that actually being willing to listen to Keefe’s most outlandish ideas both broadens her own horizons and strengthens her connection with Keefe. Also, in some ways, it’s really helpful for Keefe as he heals from years of never even trying to be someone who could be taken seriously (because that always hurt too much. Because he’d come home to-)
For a while after the ending of canon, Keefe and Sophie spend a lot of time in the forbidden cities just… existing together. And they’re able to get therapy and a human understanding of mental health is HUGELY helpful for Keefe (not writing off abuse as a thing that doesn’t happen) but also for both him and Sophie (PTSD->insomnia and all the things)
And they’re able to heal from everything that happened in canon together. And eventually they’re able to come back to the lost cities.
And these two are freshly mentally strong and also have been around humans for a long time and they’re ready to dismantle the whole lost cities political system bc abskdhskshssj
And now they’re back to a fluffy, lighthearted Sokeefe dynamic that we all miss.
Keefe keeps up all the silly flirting and Sophie loves it.
Did I mention they’re dismantling Elvin political systems? Also matchmaking. Bye bye. Discrimination against talentless people? Twins and triplets? NO MORE. Not if Sophie and Keefe say so
They do some of this by being really huge figures from a well known rebellion that a lot of people used to hear about, sure. But also I think that as a couple they just sorta become the Elvin version of social media influencers, and become sorta this idolized power couple by the lost cities. This is how they’re able to sway public opinion, bit by bit, to question all the stupid systems the elves have
Silly fun flirty Sokeefe is back in the picture, just like they deserve.
Obviously their pasts aren’t erased
Sometimes Sophie still is kept up at night
Sometimes Keefe needs to be reminded of things
Sometimes they aren’t totally okay
But they’re better than they were. Their hearts aren’t broken in the same way. There are still scars, of course, but they’re healed.
And honestly they deserve to be a power couple taking on the lost cities injustices (oh did I mention their friends are TOTALLY IN on this part? Including their Elvin social media campaign. Biana and Marella handle their public image ofc)
Anyway this is definitely a roller coaster of angst and crack and fluff but WHATEVER HERE HAVE THE HEADCANONS!!
Thanks for the ask!

am i the only one who still genuinly thinks it’ll be sophitz as endgame or just sophie by herself, not sokeefe? like idk if it’s just me blocking out things i don’t like but there’s been no evidence that sophie actually likes keefe like that whereas she still does have an affection for fitz. idk i just feel like sophie and keefe would not be a good way to end the series lol
I don’t have a lot of hope, but that’s mostly because I aggressively pretend that endgame ships don’t exist in any context because I never ship endgame ships. So in my mind, endgame is fake ! doesn’t exist ! no ship is endgame. We simply enjoy them while they last
...that’s probably not a good strategy but here we are
Idk, I also just. I feel like when the fandom is so overwhelmingly Sokeefe... No matter how much Shannon says it’s Sophie’s choice, I can’t help but think that it matters, y’know? Heck, if her publishers can make her change a character’s hair color for publicity... what’s to say they couldn’t demand she make a ship canon? But that’s being dramatic; I also just think the sheer volume of people that ship Sokeefe, coupled with the fact that her assistant and some others do, will influence her writing no matter what. We put so much of ourselves into our writing subconsciously.
So yeah, maybe you are the only one with a lot of hope. Sorry! This wasn’t a very encouraging answer. I don’t want Sophie and Keefe to be the one to end the series, but I have a feeling that they will be. But... hold on! I’m glad that someone is hoping for us.
If Sophitz actually was canon, I’d probably die of happiness

KOTLC Book 8.5 Theories
*********SPOLIERS SPOLIERS SPOLIERS SPOLIERS SPOLIERS SPOLIERS SPOLIERS***********
So I am extremely excited for Book 8.5 “Unlocked” in the Keeper of the Lost Cities series
Tumblr media
SOME HEADCANNONS I HAVE ABOUT KEEFE’s NEW ABILITY...
Keefe will DEFINITLEY wake up
That being said, I am so excited for his perspective this book because, while everyone talks about how the story is too focused on the love triangle and Sophie’s character is suffering because of it... I also feel that Keefe’s character is suffering because of it too.
I am a HUGE sokeefe shipper, but when it comes down to favorite character Keefe takes the plate.
It annoys me how so much about Keefe is just him flirting with Sophie or pinning for Sophie. I am looking forward to this book because I feel that Keefe is going to have to deal with so much change and really have to figure out who HE is, that we will get to see other sides to him then just SOPHIE AND KEEFE. We will get to see how he feels and how he is handling all of the trauma he has had to endure.
THE ABILITY
Moving on... I have this idea that Keefe will have an entirely new ability... an ability that is very hard to control and feeds off of his emotions.
So, he will learn from Grady ABOUT control, since Grady also struggled with controlling his abilities as well.
Now of course I think this will cause for some very funny scenes, but I also believe that Grady and Keefe will grow extremely closer and Grady will realize that there is much more to what Keefe has to deal with on a day-to-day basis.
Now I know this may be a stretch, but I believe that the ability restrictor will come back into the books because Keefe’s powers are just too much to handle and could literally change the fate of this “war”. Only, the ability restrictor won’t work because his powers are too great, and Lady Gisela will use the fact that the council tried to use it as a way to influence Keefe to join her side because “the black swan is trying to control you/doesn’t trust you/ doesn’t care about you”
Lastly, I also believe that Keefe will be able to feel emotions without touch due to this “change” strengthening him, and how he can already feel Sophie’s emotions without touch. That being said, he will have to learn how to filter the emotions out ( Oralie hinted it was possible in “Legacy” when Sophie learned how to filter out enhancing).
Finally, I believe that at the end of the day it won’t be Keefe’s new ability that is the problem, but Keefe’s empathy. With too much emotion, elves can become numb (as shown with Vespera). I believe that if Keefe continues to refuse his mother’s demands she will have no choice but to overwhelm him with emotions until he is no longer able to feel.
This book is going to be extremely interesting because there is so much that the character’s have to go through, and not only will Keefe have to battle the Neverseen but also his inner darkness!!
Keefe is just such a great character to read because he goes through so much with his family and is just still able to smile and keep going. I can’t wait to see how he handles this new challenge in his life.
RANT COMPLETE
