Picking up the pieces. / Over seven months later, people are still picking up the pieces from Hurricane Michael that struck the panhandle back in October. Seven months later, @realdonaldtrump FINALLY pledged government funding to assist in the ongoing recovery efforts; with a 90/10 reimbursement ratio. Better late than never I suppose. If you or anyone you know have plans to visit @visit_pcb this summer, I encourage you to make the short, yet dreadful, drive across the Hathaway Bridge. Only then will you see with your own eyes that with hurricane season on the cusp of beginning again, the clean up is still far from over. We are still picking up downed trees, still waiting to rebuild new houses for displaced families, finally having grand reopenings for businesses that haven’t been able to operate since October, and even trying to find places to live as the price for rent is substantially higher than normal. So yes, the panhandle residents are in fact #850strong. Not only for surviving a category five hurricane, but for still putting up the fight to survive over seven months later. Everyone you’ll meet has a different story to tell and they all have their own problems, but one thing remains the same amongst them all. Each and everyone of the panhandle residents are still trying to take one day at a time, have a little bit more faith, praying for the best, and attempt to begin again as they continue to pick up the pieces.

Who knew that having a fence would feel like such a special treat? If there is one yard in my town with a complete, enclosed yard, it’s a new one. I’m not kidding when I say this. Almost every neighborhood in this town is now a naked piece of land with leftover structures and endless yards. No beginning or end. There are tarps or roofers on every roof. Heavy machinery and hauling trucks on every street. Deserted businesses, demolished warehouses, homes that sag with rain and mold, abandoned in the panic. There’s still so much to do. So much time needed. So much help appreciated. Personally I just keep praying for patience because it’s hard to feel this every day. It’s hard to thrive sometimes. It’s hard to WANT to thrive. Sometimes. So here I am, dancing in the shadows of a fresh new fence. Sorting my thoughts, drifting past my doubts. Finding stillness through intentional movement. It’s not even my fence. But I’m just as grateful for it. #panamacityflorida #hurricanemichael #gratitude #keepgoing #keepmoving #850strong https://www.instagram.com/p/BsYyA9Fhdsj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=18w2vwu8xzksk

Update
Ugh, I wanna go hoooooome. I want our house to be fixed, but it'll probably be at least another three weeks...
I guess we're lucky that we still have a house to go back to.
But yeah, hopefully when we move into our next temporary "home" in about a week, I'll have a place to set up my computer. I'll be able to RP and answer asks then.

Never would I have thought, that a hurricane would destroy everything I've ever known...things seem bleak for all of us in Panama city...it sucks quite a bit, but we'll all pull through somehow. My girlfriend and I are in the process of relocating to Pensacola; since our apartment has been deemed condemned. Thank you all for your continuous love, support, and kind words as we take this huge step in our lives.

Haven’t posted in awhile due to a lot going on but it’s only right that I do. We tried to stay in great spirits as #HurricaneMichael hit #PanamaCity and the surrounding areas. @DrewDigga and I didn’t allow the creativity to stop through it all either. This one is for those who have lost it all or know of any family or friends who were effected by this devastating storm. #Pray4PanamaCity #850Strong (at Panama City, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp4qML6h35L/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=emnhoa859ruc

Hurricane Michael
My entire town has been leveled. Beaten. Flipped over. Swirled up. Then spit back out.
I watched a guys house crumble in on itself and a neighbor come out yelling his name because he knew he stayed. He was yelling and yelling then he pointed and leaned over like he was going to throw up but then you see the neighbor come at him. He had left his house and gotten in his truck. He was alright and the man searching was just relieved to see him alive.
We had to chainsaw our way out of the driveway. I went days without a shower, power, or cell services (thanks verizon). Getting what resources we could get driving here and there hoping the gas we got would be enough. Prayed that the few dogs that stayed at my job were okay.
I couldn't be happier.
I made so many memories. I saw so many people helping each other. I met so many nice people willing to help me. My girlfriend, was still laughing at me when I was being annoying (after snapping my neck) and she kissed me in the morning even if had showered for days. We went to Orlando to get away and went to Universal (because we were lucky enough to plan an vacay right after an apocalypse). I fit in a ride I didnt fit in a few years back. Actually I fit in all the rides.
My friends, my god my friends.... They offered places to stay if I needed, food, showers, and so much love.
My family was the same way, welcoming my girlfriend and her mom to drive out to there place to shower and relax for a while.
Starting this year off I knew I wanted a better, more fulfilling life. I knew the people I wanted in my life, and the ones that I didn't.
The past 2 weeks (almost) has been hell, but also so fucking humbling.
I love my family
I love my friends
I'm so unbelievably, and so completely in love with my girlfriend.
Thank you, Micheal for showing me the best side of people

if you see orange on this map it means THE TREES THERE ARE GONE. they are on the ground, on someone’s house or already been ground into mulch or chopped into pieces and piled on the side of the road. every road.
if you live in a place that has trees, i promise you, you cannot imagine what it looks like without them. how hot it is without them.
next summer is going to be unbearable.

Quick update while I’m somewhere with WiFi: hurricane Michael hit my town but me and my family are fine, my mom was lucky enough to never loose power so I’ve been staying at her place full time. The biggest thing for us at the moment is helping out people whose homes WERE destroyed, because there were a lot. There are parts of the town I’ve lived in my whole life that I barely recognize. Keep Florida in your hearts guys ❤️

They say that what you’re doing at the beginning of the year is what you’re gonna do all year so today I did something big. I’ve known what I’ve wanted tattooed on my knuckles for a few years “HOPELESS ROMANTIC” the bottom part will be done next week. I am overwhelmed by how happy I am with this tattoo. @hannahjones_tattoos did a brilliant job and I can’t wait to get back together with her to finish this and start the next piece. 🖤🖤🖤 #tattoo #myfavorite #ifoundmyperson #americanclassictattoo #2019 #newyearsresolution #panamacity #florida #850strong (at American Classic Tattoo) https://www.instagram.com/p/BsHJV3pFmMP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ez5r5a1poanu
