Current fantasy: pero tovar sitting in a chair in his cottage on a winters night with a baby resting against his chest or a toddler cuddled into him on his lap.

Fiercely Gentle
You hadn’t listened to them when everyone in the village told you to keep your distance from the newcomer.
He had a fearsome glower and his tongue was sharp while his whit was biting. He was dangerous they said. Obviously up to no good while he sat hunched over his meal as if scared someone was going to try to take it from him.
Dark and with a wicked scar that bisected his left brow - highlighting how close he had come to losing the eye beneath it - Pero Tovar was someone that many in your village scared with a simple look.
He had settled here, showing up with the world weary trudge of a man who had travel too much and seen far more than he should. His armor, the leathers protecting him were worn and scared from blows that should have marked him. Narrow misses with injury or worse told you the type of life he had led prior to coming to your village.
He had been a mercenary. A skilled on based on the way that his hands would idly play with a dagger when he was brooding in the corner of the tavern. Back against the wall and a scowl on his face while he watched the daggers edge nearly pierce the tip of his finger while others gave him a wide berth.
They said he would be rough, but you had watched the gentleness in his hands when he brushed his horse. Petted the obvious war horses muzzle and spoke low to him, murmuring to him and huffing in amusement when the beasts large head knocked him on the shoulder. He was dangerous but there was also good in him.
You hadn’t listened to them. Ignoring the warnings to leave him be, you sought him out. You hadn’t missed the way that his gaze would run up and down your figure, knew that he had come to this village to hang up his sword and live out the remainder of his life. Making you wonder if he was considering a taking a wife.
He had been and you hadn’t listened to the ones who told you he would make a horrible husband. That he would be brutal and perhaps beat you more than another husband would due to his years of warring and only consorting with whores.
Everyone had been wrong. You knew that and your eyes softened and your smile matched the love in your heart when you watch the scene in front of you. The wind howled outside the cabin where you lived with your now husband, the snow covering the ground and starting to accumulate but the inside of the tightly build house was toasty warm.
The lingering scent of the stew you had made for dinner lingered in the air. The deer that Pero had killed was already butchered and stored away to freeze for winter. The fire crackled cheerily in the hearth and was enough wood stacked next to it to fuel it for days. He never wanted you to go far to have to keep the fire burning.
He is still sitting at the table. His soft linen shirt opened at the chest and little bundle nestled up against his head, her tiny cheek against he warmth of his skin.
You had worried when you had birthed a daughter. Afraid that he would not care much for a girl. Although you should have known better. While Pero had little experience with babies, he was insistent that he hold the babe mere minutes after she was born.
He loved her. Every evening as soon as he would finish his work and chores, he would come inside and clean up, taking the baby from her cradle and coo and chortle to her while you finished dinner. After dinner was spent just like this after she had eaten her own dinner, resting against her father’s skin and feeling the weight of his large hand soothing across her back.
You loved the sight, the warmth of the firelight and the candles on the table highlight the scene. Father and daughter sharing time, there were moments where you wondered if he wished for another babe already, even though she was only months old.
His dark eyes meet yours and you sent him the most loving look you can possibly muster. “What, mi alma?” He asks quietly, his voice rumbling in his chest and making your daughter coo and squirm, stealing his attention to let him sooth her.
“Merely watching you with the love of your life.” You murmur, walking over to run your fingers through his hair. Something that you had learned he loved and you can hear the soft sigh he gives, his head tilting towards your hand.
“You are mi alma.” He counters before he nods down to the sleeping little girl on his chest. “She is mi sol.” He hums happily and runs his hand over her back again, his other hand holding her in place against his securely.
Leaning down, you kiss her soft little cheek before your press another kiss against his lips. They had warned you to stay away from the Spaniard and said that he would be too fierce to be a husband to you. They were right and yet so very wrong. He was fiercely loving, fiercely gentle, and yet fiercely protective over his family. You were lucky that he had chosen you, unable to imagine any more perfect sight during a winter’s night.

Frankie’s Barber Shop
Summary: After his time in service, Frankie relies on routine--but you arrive to shake things up.
Pairing: Frankie Morales x F!Reader (no Y/N)
Rating: PG (minor language and suggestive thoughts)
Tags: FLUFF, reader washes/cuts Frankie's hair and beard, meet-cute, Frankie is an anxious boi but he's trying, this is pure tooth rotting fluff and an ode to Frankie's hair
Notes: Every day when I drive from work I pass 'Frankie's Barber Shop' and wish it was Frankie Morales' (but we all know he'd call his like, 'Catfish Cuts' or something)
I picture Frankie a bit younger here, done with the military but before the events of TF!
For my non-US readers, Great Clips is a chain of discount hairdressers!
Tumblr media
Frankie Morales is a simple man; a man of routine. He puts his shoes on right-then-left, even when it means he has to teeter precariously on his bad knee. He brushes his teeth for exactly 2 minutes, as timed on the toothbrush. He wears the same grey t-shirt and jeans combo that has followed him since high school. So when he left Great Clips with a particularly bad $7.99 haircut, buzzed uneven and patchy to the point that the guys ribbed him for it for weeks, he dreadfully set to Google to find a new place.
He chose said place on name alone; Frankie’s Barber Shop. Not too far from work, a little hole in the wall. He figured his own namesake would be good enough. Since leaving active duty he had kept his hair much the same; buzzed with a #8 all over, clean up the neck—sometimes a #7 faded toward the bottom if he was feeling especially daring or if the weather turned humid. Never touch the beard. It usually came out a little short for his liking, but anything was better than the all-over buzz he had to sport in service; plus, it lasted longer until his next one. $25, in and out, and he was set for another 6 weeks.
He had his routine down pat; walk into the dingy, shadowy barber from the overcrowded parking lot in the strip mall. The place was sparse; a cash register, a rickety waiting seat, an old boxy CRT TV playing the barber’s selected sports game, and only one chair; Barber Frankie didn’t take appointments. He would grumble around his cigarette with a broad gesture when he was ready for him, tuck him into the cape almost too tight around his neck. Like himself, Barber Frankie was a man of few words—in fact, Frankie didn’t know if he had ever really said anything to him. He would grunt and nod when Frankie gave his request—“#8, all over, clean up the edges”—get to work with the shears, and be done within minutes. He even made time to yell expletives at the game while he worked. Barber Frankie only accepted cash, and Frankie always brought exact change; $25, $5 for tip, and he would be on his way, set for another six weeks until he had to do it all over again.
So, when his six weeks had passed, he dutifully made his way to the little shop. He parked in the overcrowded lot, he pushed open the faded glass door to the sound of the tinkle of a bell overhead, he looked to the TV to check for Barber Frankie—
Barber Frankie was not in his usual spot in front of the old TV; in fact, the TV was completely off. Frankie didn’t know it even still had a functioning off-switch. Instead, quiet music is playing; what Santi tends to call “Dad Rock.” His eyes search the one-room business; it seems brighter, somehow, since he was last here. The errant hair brushed in the corners of the room was cleaned, the tabletop containing Barber Frankie’s tools organized. He almost left, checking for some alternate universe where Barber Frankie had chosen to break the routine, when he heard a voice.
“Hi! Welcome to Frankie’s, can I help you?” You popped up from behind the counter, all smiles and easy customer service attitude, and Frankie took a physical step back in surprise.
“Uh—is Frankie here? I just wanted a cut—”
“Do you have an appointment?”
“He doesn’t take appointments?” Frankie asks almost in a question, and you roll your eyes with a chuckle.
“Of course. Typical Uncle Frank.” You move around the counter; Frankie now sees you’re in a hairdresser’s apron, pockets stuffed with scissors and towels. “Sorry, Uncle Frank—Frankie—fell and broke his hip last week. I’m watching over the shop for him. I have time, you want a cut?” you say enthusiastically, drawing your scissors and snipping them in the air.
Frankie is torn. He likes routine, likes structure. He doesn’t really even like how Barber Frankie cuts his hair but he still is weary of you, a new cog in his well-oiled machine. On the other hand, you’re undeniably beautiful, warm and friendly in a way he rarely sees, and Frankie is not one to turn down a beautiful woman, or one to create an awkward situation by walking out.
That’s how he ends up in the barber’s chair, cape draped around him; you tucked a towel between his neck and the fabric, and he has to admit, it feels much better than when Barber Frankie does it. You’re running your hands through his matted curls, fluffing them through expert fingers as you ask him what he’s looking for—he almost forgets to respond, he’s leaning so hard into your touch he feels more dog than human.
“Uh—I usually get a #8 all over,” you nod with his words, but your mouth twists like you’re thinking, so he continues, as if he has something to prove. “#7 toward the neck.”
“Are you sure? You have beautiful hair, it suits you long like this,” you fluff the ends again, then pull your fingers back through the strands.
“Uh, I mean that’s what I always get—” You mull his words over before responding; nails scratching his scalp forcing a chill up his spine.
“Hm. I’ll tell you what. How about I start with the scissors, and if you don’t like it we can switch to a #8,” you propose, and he immediately agrees—he thinks he would agree to walk off a bridge, if it caused that smile that lit up your face like this did.
You immediately drag him over like an excited child to a sink he has never noticed, and he’s sure Barber Frankie has never used, until he’s awkwardly seated in the chair attached like he doesn’t know what to with himself. You gently lean him back over the sink, then get to work—floral shampoo dispensed into your palms as you chat about Uncle Frank’s hairline fracture--“Isn’t that funny? Hairline?” you say with a big grin, and Frankie is inclined to agree if it means you’ll continue chatting. You deftly work it into his hair, rubbing and massaging at his scalp, and Frankie almost melts into your touch; smooth, strong hands scratching and rubbing in ways he wouldn’t be able to replicate himself.
Frankie almost feels perverted with the amount he’s enjoying this; even the warm water rinsing out the shampoo feels like heaven, and he stifles a moan that he knows would send him straight into creep territory. He doesn’t know where to look, his eyes darting to every crack and stain in the ceiling that he make out as he lays back in the chair—Should he close his eyes or is that weird?—and eventually they land on your face. You’re focused as you rub conditioner into his hair, working each strand and humming quietly along to the music you have playing.
Frankie thinks you look ethereal. You’re just working, doing what you probably do dozens of times a day, but he’s never had so much care put into himself. Showers with 4-in-1--shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, quick 6 minute in-and-out--can’t compete—not when he knows you and your magic hands can make hair washing feel like this. He knows he’s approaching creepy, the length of his staring stretching longer and longer, but he can’t look away—not even when you rinse the remaining conditioner. He only realizes he’s been staring too long when your eyes shift to his, kind and crinkled with a small grin as you tell him he’s all done, gently lift the back of his head until he’s sitting up again with pink-tinged ear tips—he didn’t even hear the sink turn off.
Once he’s back in the chair, you make quick work of combing through his mane, humming as you think of your approach until you pick up the scissors with a wicked grin.
“I’m gonna turn you around, so it’ll be a surprise and we can see if you really like it,” you smile, easily twisting him in the chair so he’s facing the wood paneling instead of the mirror. “You seem like the kind of guy who wouldn’t tell me the truth if he didn’t.”
Frankie can’t help but chuckle—you’ve known him 5 minutes and have seen right through him; he probably wouldn’t. Like the Great Clips Disaster, he would walk out with a smile and a tip and then bury it under his cap for weeks until it grew out.
You quickly begin snipping, the rasp of the scissors unfamiliar as hair starts to fall around him. He can’t see anything you’re doing, which makes him a little nervous, but he also can’t see you, which makes him only a little disappointed. He decides on the next best thing—sound.
“You, uh—you have good hands,” Frankie attempts small talk, immediately wincing at his own awkward conversation. He’s relieved when he hears you bellow a loud laugh, scissors pulled from his head to prevent errant cuts as you giggle.
“Thanks—oh, I’m sorry, I don’t think I caught your name,” you reply lightly.
“Uh, it’s Frankie.” Your scissors stop again, and if he was looking, he’d see your face scrunched in contemplation.
“Seriously?”
“Seriously,” he chuckles, and you begin snipping again, chuckling along.
“Well then I guess you came to the right place, Frankie,” you joke, and he fights the urge to look to his hands shyly, not wanting to ruin your cutting.
After his abominable start, he lets you take the reins on the small talk topics-favorite sports teams, pets and children, if he’s from the area. Frankie tells you all of this readily, parroting the same questions back as he starts to fall into an easy rapport—you hate sports, no children but one scruffy street cat who you named Pudge has adopted you, you live in town but you’re mostly covering for Uncle Frank until his hip heals before you go back to your own job. Truthfully, he would tell you anything you wanted to know—blood type, social security number, mother’s maiden name. Usually, having someone behind him, close to his head with blades while he couldn’t see what they were doing would send his anxiety into overdrive—a take-home present from service that he couldn’t quite shake. But with you, it felt natural; nice even. When he would say something you particularly disagreed with or didn’t believe, you would lean comically around the barber chair, eyes narrowed in mock contemplation, but also—a gentle reminder that it was just you there. No monsters, no threats. Just a pretty girl who could shave his head bald and he’d still come back to her.
When you deem yourself complete, you round the chair completely, conversation in a natural lull as you squat in front of him until you’re face-to-face. You get in close to him, close enough that he thinks you’re about to kiss him, and his mouth hangs open, heart racing and eyes searching your face. You meet his eyes with a small smile, then start pulling strands at either side, testing to see if the cut is even, and Frankie fights a deep exhale that he knows would blow too obviously over your face. His eyes stay plastered to yours, watching as you move and pinch individual pieces; he’s completely enamored by you. It takes him a moment to realize you asked him a question.
“W-What?”
“I think I’m all set with the hair. You want a trim for your beard?” you ask with a subconscious bat of your eyelashes. Frankie’s never been proud of his facial hair, it was such a struggle to get it to the length and fullness it’s at, patches and all, that the idea of someone trimming it besides himself sends quiet dread through him, thinking of the pre-pubescent teenager look a fresh face gives him.
“Uh, yeah, sure.” His mouth feels unconnected to his brain, and when he looks almost surprised at himself, you flash that broad smile again, and he knows he made the right decision. He watches as you gather supplies; trimmers, a towel, a bowl of water—and then you get to work. You clean up the edges first, the familiar hum of the buzzers almost comforting, then proceed to his actual scruff, trimming it evenly.
He’s still faced away from the mirror, and the only thing in his entire field of vision is you. You bite your lip as you get the edges just straight, you blow a hair from your face when it falls in front of your eyes, close enough that Frankie can feel the breath escape. For the first time, he doesn’t feel like a creep or a perv for simply looking at you. Admiring you. If you’d let him, he’d worship you.
When you click the trimmers off, you catch him staring—his eyes in silent awe, going wide when you meet them, but you hold the contact there, ever so close to his face, finally releasing a bashful smile before standing again.
“Alright, Frankie—tell me what you think. And be honest, you won’t hurt my feelings,” you chuckle, spinning him around.
Frankie almost doesn’t recognize himself—his hair is that perfect length he likes, that he hits for maybe three days in his current hair care routine; curls lush and almost bouncy. Somehow, despite the trim, his beard looks fuller, and he runs a disbelieving hand over it, as if he's checking to see if its really him underneath. Frankie’s never been one to toot his own horn, but he’ll admit it—he looks good. A hundred times better than when he walks out from Barber Frankie and puts his ball cap on—he thinks the cap would be a crime with the art you’ve created. He suddenly realizes you’re waiting for a reply with an anxious smile as he glances to your face in the mirror, in awe of both himself and your skill.
“It—it looks really great. This is the length I like,” he says, running a hand over the ends. “I don’t know how you knew that.”
“Oh, that’s great! I’m so happy,” you smile broadly, and Frankie’s heart sings. “Call it hairdresser’s intuition,” you giggle, finally pulling the cape from his neck—he almost feels naked without it, and Frankie wishes you were pulling the rest of the clothes off him too, but he shakes the thought out of his head as if he’s shaking out his hair.
You both meander slowly to the cash register, as slowly as possible in the 3-foot space, seeming to not want this to end—but Frankie thinks he’s reading too much into it. It’s literally your job to be friendly, to make small talk and have your clients feel comfortable. You can’t actually be interested in him, his too-short then too-long hair, his faded tee and dusty jeans, cap tucked in the back pocket. The sound of you punching in the total rings him from his thoughts, as you tell him the price.
“$20,” you smile.
“Twenty? It’s usually 25, and that’s without the beard—” Frankie starts, and you shake your head.
“A discount for my favorite customer.” Frankie’s ears redden again as he hands over the money, your tone clear that it wasn’t his place to argue. You cash him out easily, and Frankie grabs the second twenty in his wallet to stuff in the tip jar.
“Frankie, that’s a twenty—”
“I know. For my favorite hairdresser,” he smiles shyly, and it’s your turn for heat to rise to your cheeks. He walks slowly to the door, passing one last look back as the bell jingles overhead and you stand awestruck at the counter, giving him a shy wave.
Frankie barely makes it off the sidewalk before he pushes his way back in, standing in the entry of the little shop—you almost look shocked to see him back so soon.
“What’s wrong? You didn’t actually like—”
“Would you want to go on a date? With me?” he adds like the clarification is needed, then outwardly winces at his own stupidity. The silence seems to stretch for hours, and he’s about to head back out the door and start Googling a new barber shop when that same smile spreads across your features.
“I thought you’d never ask.”

To make her smile.
Pairings: Ace!Yelena Belova x Gender Neutral Reader (Established relationship)
Word count: 681
Author's Note:  It has been a hot minute since I've wrote something, but I saw that @agirllovespancakes has a 7 day no smut challenge and I thought I would give it a shot!
As an asexual person, it's not often I see people like myself in fics so I decided it was an opportune moment to try my hand in writing an ace character. Yelena is cannonically asexual in the comic books which makes me so happy 😭😭. It's also my first time writing a female character so please go easy on me 🙏🏻 To whoever stumbles on this, I hope you enjoy 💛
I hope you guys don't mind the tag!
@agirllovespancakes @moonlight-prose
Warnings: mentions of cheating, slight angst, mostly fluff.
Tumblr media
It's been a long 8 weeks. Taking private phone calls at all times of the day, making poor excuses to why you would be home late and lying when asked if everything was ok. You were tired of sneaking around and the guilt was starting to eat away at you but you knew there was no way you could tell Yelena the truth just yet.
After checking your clothes to make sure there was no evidence of any kind on them, you take a deep breath and open the front door. The sight in front of you makes you stop short.
Yelena is sitting on the couch, eyes puffy and the remainder of the tears she missed still on her cheeks. There's a duffel bag at her feet. Your blood ruins cold at the sight.
"Baby, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" You rush over to her but she flinches away from your touch. There's a flash of anger in her eyes now.
"Why don't you tell me? Hmm. Is there someone else? You've been acting strange for weeks and there can only be one explanation as to why. Are they giving you what I can't? Because you told me that me being asexual didn't matter to you. You'd be happy with me no matter what! Do you not want me anymore?"
Her voice breaks at the end of her spiel and your heart breaks with it. You need to diffuse this situation and fast.
Taking her face in your hands, you make sure she looks you in the eyes.
"I swear on my life, there is no one else but you. You make me so fucking happy sweet girl. I never thought I would find someone who I would love this much and no one is worth jeopardising what we have. You are my world. When I look at you, I see my whole future in front of me."
The fight drains out of her and in the quietest voice asks
"Then why are you never here with me? Why are you always sneaking around?"
Sighing, you take her hand and lead her to the front door. Outside waiting for you is your friend holding a box in their arms. Yelena looks at them confused.
Suddenly a furry little head pops out from the box, tongue hanging out and from the way the box is vibrating, wagging her tail like a madwoman.
"Surprise?"
It takes a moment for all the information to sink in for Yelena. She suddenly gasps, then squeals, then is hauling ass down the path to the newest addition to the family. Taking the box from you friend, Yelena is crying for a completely different reason now.
"Are they for me?" she sobs.
Your friend decides to make a hasty retreat now that their job is complete. Thanking them, you turn your focus to your little family. You can't tell who is more excited to see the other. Your cheeks ache slightly from the massive grin you have on your face.
"You always said you wanted a dog. My friend's dog just had a litter and asked if I was interested and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I wanted it to be a surprise but I wanted her to know my scent so she wasn't scared when she came home. So that's why I've been sneaking around. I'm so sorry I made you doubt...."
You're cut off by a pair of soft lips on yours. Sighing into the kiss, you relax now that you have her forgiveness and enjoy the moment. Until you're forced to jerk away due to the feel of a wet nose pressed against your cheek and there is a sudden whiff of puppy breath. Yelena howls with laughter at the look on your face before cupping your cheek.
"Thank you my love, I'm so happy!"
Your heart swells at her smile and her crinkled eyes. You can't believe how lucky you are to have this woman in your life and vow to do whatever it takes to keep her smiling this way.

In Which, I Become An Expert Pumpkin Picker and I Am Confused With A Costume Accessory
Tumblr media
A Galaxy Far FAar Away Story, As Told By Grogu Djarin
WORD COUNT 1700+
A/N this little Grogu story is basically part 6 Pick Your Own Pumpkin from his pov, and like part 6, this will be followed quickly by Grogus take on part 6.5 Trick or Treat.
I've finished this up to post today, in honor of @agirllovespancakes wonderful 7 Day No Smut Challenge, I hope you enjoy it! And check out all the fantastic non-smut writings out there!
WARNINGS: as usual sassy Grogu is always hungry and talking about food. Quick reference to loss of a child
🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Halloween is a very, very good thing. There is pumpkins and hayrides and special foods including very yummy candy that people will give you when you go to their door and say Trick or Treat.
But I need to start at the beginning, it all started one day went it became very important to go into a field and get the biggest fruit I’ve ever seen and not eat them!
Dad came into our room to scoop me up out of my bed, which I can get out of myself, but no one wants me to. Dad asked me how my sleeping was… I told him, I tell you this every time you come get me from the nap I am tricked into taking. I am. Never. Ever. Tired. Ever! And I do not need to be in that bed with bars on it like a common quarry. Father, do I look like a criminal to you? I touched his helmet face so he knew I was very serious about the injustice of nappy-naps.
I like when you sing to me, but you rock me sssoooo slllloww when you trick me to sleep… I like it better when we dance instead.
Sometimes Dad understands me just fine, even with the language barrier and I knew he did because he told you in his helmet voice all grumbled, that I said I don’t need to nap! WHICH I DON’T!
You apologized which was right and called me a bub. I don’t know what a bub is, but it feels nice when you call me it. Then you said it’s pumpkin picking time, apparently this is exhausting work, which requires napping! I was surprised at this news.
Plus Also, going to get pumpkins requires us all to dress in special clothes, Dad put all his beskar on. At first I thought maybe there was a danger, maybe Dad had to fight to get these pumpkins. Which yes, a nap is prolly called for… But you got dressed so pretty in a long white dress and big hair things on the sides.
AS USUAL, Dad is all, oh, um, geez… you look nice…
FATHER! She ALWAYS looks nice. I tried to explain, that Dad is a mandadalorian, which is very good BUT even though he does not have a language barrier like ME, mandadalorians do not know how to say things sometimes, and thank goodness I AM HERE! You looked like a princess! And I told you so!
Anyways, if we had to do battle, you prolly wouldn't choose this outfit, so that's when I figured there wasn’t a danger.
THEN I started to worry, maybe I needed to wear my best, which I only get to wear for sleep and cozy holo shows for some reason that I do NOT know. It is the best because it has places for my feets and it is covered in chickens. You were nice and told me I always look delightful. Which is true. But I do love those chickens.
We got to ride in your speeder again. I have a special seat. And Yay! Seamus was coming too! We sat together and talked about things, he is a very good listener, I tell you!
You sang a song about 5 pumpkins on a gate, that talked and rolled. I laughed because they seemed like fun! I really needed to see those pumpkin guys!
Then, we got to the Pumpkins, Dad had a worry for you, but I don’t know why, you felt very happy that day- OH! And then I heard it, that word he uses for Meanie Guy Kyle. Dad does not like that guy. Me neither, that guy does make you sad and mad. You get smad, but you know that. You didn’t seem to be thinking of him too much though, your sparkle aura was shiny and growing like you were hugging the whole farm!
I looked at the big field and it was covered in pumpkins! THEN I got worried about my little legs, but you brought a wagon, and oh boy! I got to ride in it. Dad pulled it and Seamus walked right next to me. Because he likes my pats best.
You sang the song some more and NOW you used your hands to roll the pumpkins and blow the wind- it looked fun and since I can’t sing the words very good; I could do the fingers! And I did, and it made me happy! So many happy things on Pumpkin Picking Day!
There were LOTS of people and I kinda got used to it being just us, which made me shy, but everyone was smiling, and their auras were all stretching out to each other. Plus also, I could smell good stuff to eat!!
You told me to just wait for the food, but I didn’t want to! My tum needs filling Ma’am!
Then a farmer was talking about the pumpkins and the food, and this is this and that is that… and WHO is this… about Dad.
The farmer did not ask about me AT ALL, I know I’m supposed to be a little bit hidey, cuz Earth people do not see people like me, but RUDE.
Then Mean Kyle came up, this guy- everyone thinks he’s the worst!
Hmm, what’s a hayride?
After the farmer talked and talked and talked, you said sorry to Dad… but I do not know why HE wasn’t ignored and not introduced to farmers. She even told him, she liked Dad scaring Mean Kyle at the market. Don't mind me, I'm just sitting here under a table! THEN you and Dad got all flustered, your auras all bumping into each other.
Just kiss already. Sheesh
I decided I wasn’t waiting for those pumpkins anymore, which by the way, were NOT rolling or ANYTHING. I climbed out of my wagon, me and Seamus went right into the patch- the pumpkins smelled good- I wondered about eating one. But you said they are for Jack O Lantern- I don’t know who that guy is but you said we had to pick the BEST ones for him! Lucky.
ANYWAYS, I looked around and the most biggist and roundish and orangy pumpkin was right over there so Seamus and me went to get it before someone else did.
Well, you saw my pumpkin and knew I was a very talented pumpkin finding expert! New talents just pop out of me all the time!
Dad found a tall… um, interesting pumpkin. I hoped that Jack guy would like it. Then I was back under the counter! I did a Dad sigh. This one was his come on people sigh.
THEN we got to meet a big furry guy named Molly. You said she is a horse. Molly is a very good horse. She said, she was happy for pats but wanted to eat grass… I don’t want to eat grass. But got her cuz, there is food here that I was still not eating! I explained I had no grass but if I did she could have it all. You noticed that Molly was liking me and my talking- of course, she did. We’ve already discussed that I am a delight.
Then the other farmer rushed us to the hayride speeder, I had to say a quicky quick goodbye to my new best friend Molly, I hope she doesn’t miss me too much and gets some grass soon. I am so glad you know all these furry and fluffies!
ANYWAYS, we climbed up the funny-looking speeder, it was like the red wagon but really big! We all sat together in the back of the wagon, close, I could sit on you and Dad. Which I like!
So everyone was dressed like pumpkins and things, I kind of wished for my chicken clothes, especially since everyone was looking at me. You patted me, reminding me you said I looked delightful in my robe. I was glad to be reminded. You looked at all the other younglings, and suddenly you got a sad and had tears. Well, I didn’t like that feeling at all. You were thinking about your youngling, who is gone. I wish I could get her for you. But she has joined the force. I tried to tell you that she is okay and touched your face. I don’t know if you understood exactly, but you hugged me, and Dad squeezed your knee. And you leaned on him, and it felt very family together and we all felt good.
WOAH! Then bumping and bouncing happened! And it reminded me of the Razor Crest sometimes! I flew up and you caught my tummy and held me so I wouldn’t tumble out. I was not going to tumble out! But I know, you don't know about me and the force yet! Someday I will show you. Then we hit a bump that popped us ALL up and Dad held us both! Everyone was laughing and holding on.
ANYWAYS, after all the bumpity bumps and everything, everyone was getting out of the hay wagon and two ladies stopped to say I was something you made! WHAT?! I squinted my eyes at that. I am no puppet ma’am! Plus Also, what's a puppet?
OO, Dad didn’t like that other lady calling me a robot. I did not like it either, but Dad has a robot bigotry, he needs to work on.
The two ladies did not understand me- as usual, and laughed at my squinty eyes.
Then they said I was cute which is true, you said to wave and when I did, they awwwed me, which is right.
Then that Meanie Guy Kyle was there!! Yuck, his aura is dark and sticky and I don’t know what else! He was mad, and not looking at us, but he was thinking about us. So Dad did what Dad does when someone is like that with me and now with you, he got big and tall pushed out all his mandadaloriany energy at that guy. No one couldn’t see Dad smile when that guy humphed but I could feel it. He was thinking lots of things I didn’t understand it all but mostly that he was gonna protect you, like he does me.
Then Dad put his forehead on your forehead, that is the thing we do! It means I love you! I snugged in there, cuz I love both of you! After that, you and Dad wanted to get home, quick! And just when we got back to Jupiter Cottage, Dad told you his really-real name!
What day we had! And I hadn’t even tried the donuts yet!

The Castle Residence : The Package. BillyRusso x Reader – Part-1
Side Note: This is my first fic. And I'll be posting some fics throughout this week as part of #7daysnosmutchallenge. This is the first time I'm writing anything. So please feel free to let me know if I wrote anything weird. I really do hope you enjoy it. Thanks <3
And thank you @agirllovespancakes for initiating this challenge.
So here we go!! :)
Tumblr media
You are on your way to the Castle residence. Your brother Andrew, who works with Curtis as an insurance salesman, had to go out of town this weekend to meet a client. So he asked you to deliver a package for him to the Frank Castle. You usually don’t mind helping your brother out. Because you know he has been through so much. And he works really hard.
So here you were, at the front door of the Castles. They have a cute name-plate made out of wood, and painted in white was written “The Castles” and two pairs of small hand prints. That name-plate always makes you smile. You shifted the package completely onto your left hand, on top of the book you were carrying, and pressed the bell with your free hand.
Maria opened the door and smiled, “Y/N. Hi, come in.”
“Hi Maria. How are you? How are the kids?”, you ask as you go inside and look at Maria’s direction while she closed the door.
“We’re all good. Is this from your brother?”, she asks.
“Yep. He is out of town this weekend. So I am delivering it”, you reply.
“Oh. I see. You can give this to Frank. He is in the study. Shall I get you coffee?”
“Yes, please. I’ll take an espresso. And the study is??”, you look at her to see where she would direct.
“Oh, go down the hall, it will be on the right.”, she replies with a smile and turns to go to the kitchen.
You walk towards the study. The door was slightly open. You were about to knock it when you see someone open it. And you see Billy coming out. He didn’t see you standing, and was about to dash into you. Your reflex kicks in and you take a step back. A gasp leaves your mouth.
You were so not expecting him to be there. And definitely weren’t expecting to dash onto him either. Well almost. He saw you take a step backward, hand still hanging on the air, about to knock.
He calls out your name, “Y/N?”
“Hey Billy. Is Frank inside?”, you ask without thinking. You just wanted to run out of his way. Before your heart starts thumping out of your body.
“Frankie. Special delivery!”, he yells so that his sound was audible to Frank.
You don’t know what was in this package. Was Billy talking about the package? Or was he talking about you?
“Oh, shut it!”, you think to yourself.
You look over into the room, to find Frank. He was standing with his back towards the door, in front of a table, which had some papers. By this time, he was looking over his shoulder towards the door. You move a little so that Frank can see you. You raise your hand a little, which was holding the package, trying to show him what you had. “Oh yeah, Y/N. What do you have?”, Frank smiled and asked. You know that tone very well. He already knew what you had. But still asked you, out of formality.
You move away from Billy, and walk inside the room. Billy walks out.
“Hey Frank.”, you say in a chirpy voice. Frank always made you feel really cheery. He radiated so much of good vibes. The entire Castles radiated that vibes. You always feel very happy when you meet them. “Andrew is out of town this weekend, meeting a client. So he asked me to deliver this package.” You tell him the reason as to why you were delivering the package instead of your brother.
“Oh, I see. How is he doing?”, Frank asked.
“He is good.”, you reply. And you place the book and the package on the table. And as you were taking the book from under the package, your eyes fall on the guitar sitting in the corner in front of you. Your eyes go wide. You didn’t know Frank played it. “Do you play it?”, you ask Frank, gesturing towards the guitar.
“The guitar? Yes I do. Do you play?”, Frank asks. Billy enters the room. “Play what?”, Billy asks.
You look over your shoulder at Billy, “The guitar!! I didn’t know that he played.” Your voice was a little high-pitched, than you wanted.
Billy’s eye-brow furrows a bit. It’s always the guitar. The girls are always after the Guitarist. He clenches his teeth a bit. He felt a little jealous at the moment. But he keeps his emotions inside. Frank was his best friend. And married. He wasn’t gonna try to steal the girl away. You keep the book back on the table, beside the package, and rush over to the guitar. You take it, and try to play. But obviously it sounded garbage, because you don’t know the notes. You scrunch your nose in disappointment.
Frank saw that. “Do you want me to teach you?”, he asks with a smile.
“You will?”, you ask with hopeful eyes.
“Yea sure. But in return, I would like some of your infamous cookies. Deal?”, Frank held out his hand, waiting for your response.
“Yes! Yes! Deal.”, you shake his hands. You were so happy that finally you would be learning to play guitar. You have always wanted to learn it.
Billy smiled at how you were grinning, and looked down at the table. That’s when he saw your book sitting on the table. He took the book, looking at it he asked, “Is this yours?”
You look at him. He was holding “The picture of Dorian Gray” you borrowed from the town library.
“Yea, it’s from the library.”, you reply. You keep the guitar down and walk towards the table.
“You a fan of Wilde?”, he asked looking at you.
“Well, I really love THIS book. I have already read it. Multiple times. I actually went to get another book, but it was not available. So I took this again. It’s a great book.” you reply.
Billy smirks, loving the fact that you love a book that he loves too. Not many people know that he loves to read. Especially the ones he hooks up with. And this piece of information makes his mood so much brighter.
“You got a good taste.” Billy says, and hands the book to you.
You take it from his hand, “Thanks. You have read this?” you ask with a smile.
“It’s one of my favorites.” Billy replies with a smile.
Maria enters the study and calls you for the coffee. You say bye to both Frank and Billy. You follow her out of the room. You both talk for a bit while you finished your coffee.
“You remember you guys are coming here for Thanksgiving right?”, Maria asks to remind you of the Thanksgiving day party the Castles were having at their place.
“Yes, of course Maria. I remember. I’ll join earlier than Andrew and help you out a bit.” you reply.
“Hey, don’t worry. I’ll have it covered. You just come and enjoy. All I want is your company.”, Maria says.
“I really don’t mind. Also, I’ll be bringing an extra batch of my cookies. Especially for Frank. He told me that he’ll be teaching me guitar. In exchange of cookies. I can’t believe I’ll learn to play guitar. It has been my dream since, I don’t know, forever.”, you reply with a huge grin on your face.
“Oh, that’s nice of him. And I agree, your cookies are amazing. So, I guess you’ll playing something for us soon?”, Maria asks with a smile.
“Oh, yea. Definitely. Be ready for your next events. Birthdays. Anniversaries. I’ll make it extra special for you guys.” you reply with a wink.
“Thanks for the coffee Maria. I’ll be off now.” you say as you keep your coffee mug down.
“It was nice talking to you Y/N. Take care”, Maria says as she hugs you.
“Same. You take care too. And take extra care of the two munchkins.”, you say as you hug her back.
You walk out of the Castles' residence and walk back to your home.
------ 4 days later------
You hear the doorbell ring in your apartment. You go out to check.
A delivery guy asks your name, “Are you Y/N?”.
You nod and reply, “Yea.”
He hands out a package to you and says, “This is for you. Could you please sign here?”.
He shows you a register and gives you a pen to sign. You sign it and receive the package. You didn’t order anything. So you wonder what it could be. You close the door and come inside to open it. And when you open the package, you see it is a hardcover collector’s edition of “The picture of Dorian Gray”.

The next day, you mostly spent in the room that Thalassa and Din had slept in.
It was amusing, the dark circles under Din’s eyes and the way his brows were in a constant frown.
“You owe me,” he hissed as soon as Paz stepped over the threshold, “Princess here wouldn’t shut up for even one second. It’s a wonder she survived that long on that muddy planet we found her on. I would’ve strangled her years ago.”
Paz only chuckled.
That night, it was felt almost like a routine. None of the passengers tried to talk to you this time around, the dark look on Paz’s face proving enough to keep them away.
The curtain was pulled closed and he had his back turned to you as you got changed. He could hear the shuffling behind him and once you had settled down, he got undressed as quickly as he could.
When he laid down, he felt your arm brush against his. As he turned towards you, his hand found its way to your waist on its own and you smiled, shuffling closer.
“Here we could –“ he put the blaster behind your back.
The metal scraped against the wall and when he noticed that there was not enough space he gently pulled you towards him until you were flush against his chest.
“Is that all right?” he asked hesitantly, his chin on top of your head. You nodded against him, your nose dragging along his throat and goosebumps erupted all over his skin. You were so close …
“Will you tell me why you’re doing this?” you asked him suddenly, “No one would ever spend more than one day with Thalassa out of the goodness of their heart, much less smuggle her into the Core Worlds.”
“Her family will pay a good prize to those that bring her back,” he admitted, almost scared of what your reaction would be. He wanted to add that he was happy to do it now that he got to know you. That he was happy to be with you, here at this moment, and that he would happily abstain from the money if it meant he could just stay here with you.
“I can imagine,” you whispered against him, “All she ever could talk about growing up was how much money her family had – sometimes I wonder if that is the only reason my uncle ever kept her. Apart from the undying love my aunt had for her, of course.”
How anyone could love Thalassa was a mystery to him to Paz did not say anything. Instead, he just held you close.
“I’m flattered you thought that I was her,” you murmured a few moments later, so quiet he could barely hear it, “I – no one ever thought I was more than a farmer’s daughter before.”
“You looked – you were radiant,” Paz replied, “Areradiant, I think. Doesn’t matter if you’re a princess or not, I think – I think you’re beautiful.”
He felt the heat of your cheeks against his chest and his heart warmed. “Thank you, Paz,” you whispered as the light outside shut down, “Thank you for taking me with you.”
And in the darkness, as he remembered that he would have to say goodbye to you on Coruscant, his heart hurt.
*
The days on the ship were absolute perfection.
Or as close to perfection as they could be.
You spend the days either in the common rooms or in the small room that Din and Thalassa shared. Paz made it a habit to clean his blaster every day, just to have something to spend the time on. Din did it as well and there were more than a few moments where Paz contemplated taking the weapon away from Din to prevent him from hurting the constantly chattering princess.
But most days it was not too bad. There were ways you were able to entertain yourself – either by watching a longer holovid on one of the datapads or playing cards. Thalassa had expressed interest in watching one of the loth cat races but Din and Paz had steadfastly refused to take her there on the grounds that if a bounty hunter was anywhere on this ship, he was sure to be at the loth cat races.
And in part that was true and Paz was convinced that Din said it in an attempt to keep her safe. But Paz also had another reason: He did not want to leave you.
Because as the days and nights wore on, he noticed that whenever you were in the same room (which meant always) you would drift towards him or vice versa. No matter if you started out sitting next to Din or Thalassa in the morning, you always ended up right next to him, often talking quietly to each other in a corner of the room.
He had gotten used to your figure next to him, having pulled your knees against your chest as you let him explain to you the different mechanisms of the blaster he was cleaning.
“You’re good at that,” you had said once, smiling at him, “Explaining stuff.”
“Well, I am a teacher,” he had revealed with a teasing smile, “Back at home, I mean. I teach our foundlings about the world and everything they need to know to survive in it.”
You had nodded, resting your chin on your knees and your eyes had been so soft he had wanted nothing more than to kiss you. “It fits,” had been your response, “Paz Vizsla, the teacher.”
Other times you would volunteer to accompany him to the cantina, getting some food for the four of you so Thalassa did not need to leave the room. (“Less exposure, fewer chances for her to be recognized,” Din had shrugged and Paz had agreed.) And with you walking next to him, both of you talking about everything and nothing, Paz only barely registered the jealous looks of other passengers, clearly directed at him.
But he could not care, not when you were so happy to choose the meal of the day, trying out different delicacies from all over the galaxy – stuff you had heard of as children or that was so strange to you, you could barely imagine its taste, all of it landed on your plates.
When the night neared, you would sometimes challenge him to a game of dice which you hopelessly lost every single time but Paz could only smile at you, trying to show you the right way to throw the galactic dice, his broad hands holding yours and his heart skipped a beat every time you asked him to show you again.
Yes, the more time passed, the more Paz allowed himself to imagine what it would be like to spend his life with you.
*
With the ship having safely arrived on Naboo, the next leg of the journey was pretty easy. You needed to get on the train to Theed to catch the next ship that would take you to Coruscant.
“I am sure you’ll like it, Princess,” Din huffed, carrying his bag and hers, “The next room will be much more to your tastes.”
“I can only hope so,” Thalassa replied coolly, shielding her face from the sun, “Thus far the trip has been rather underwhelming.”
Paz chuckled, grinning when he caught you rolling your eyes. To be fair, Paz was pretty sure that everyone would be happy about the better accommodations. In comparison to the ship they had just left, it was almost luxurious. They would have a bedroom big enough to accommodate all of them with an ensuite bathroom and room service available. He could not wait until he had the chance to take a good long shower and get cleaned up.
Not one to waste credits where it was unnecessary, Din bribed the train personnel to let you stay in the luggage cabin much to Thalassa’s dismay. But as Paz helped you up, his hands on your waist, he noticed how giddy you were. You were grinning from ear to ear and he felt his own lips tug up in a smile. One thing he lamented about the better accommodations was that he would not have you next to him every night.
Sitting down on the floor, he watched as your skirts flared up with the wind as the train gained speed.
“I can’t believe we’re this close already,” you said, gazing out at the glittering sea under Naboo’s sun, “It feels like yesterday where you picked us up.”
“I am happy we did,” Paz replied quietly, feeling how your pinkie finger brushed against his thumb and turning his hand so his palm was open to you. His heartbeat quickened, hoping that you got the hint and took his hand but he also did not want to force you.
Your smile warmed his heart while the sunlight warmed his skin. He felt your fingers brush over his palm, moving to interlock your fingers when –
“You have never been to a gala, have you?” Thalassa asked you suddenly, “My family always threw the biggest feasts when I was younger, I can’t imagine it will be any different now. Oh, wait until you see the dresses and the food! It is more than your village could ever imagine.”
“You have seen the dances I have been to,” you reminded her with a grin, “None of them could be called galas at any point.”
“That is true, you have never danced with a partner before have you?”
“I – well I did not need to,” you stuttered, pulling your hand from his and he grumbled internally, “Will I need to know how to do that?”
Thalassa scoffed, “Of course you will, sweetie,” she turned to Din, “can’t you teach her? Or are you two going to embarrass me as well? Oh stars, here I am, returning after years of separation and the group I am with can’t even dance properly.”
Paz rolled his eyes, not saying anything as he rolled up his sleeves. His suit jacket was somewhere behind him on one of the crates, weighted down by a bag on top of it.
“C’mon,” Din said with a heavy sigh, “If I can learn to do it, you can too.”
You looked a little apprehensive at first, standing up to stand across the dark-haired man who held out his hands for you. Happy that she had got her way, Thalassa started to play a common tune on her datapad, something that even Paz recognized from his home.
But when Din started to move, trying to lead you across the wagon, it became clear that it would not work out at all. It was more stumbling than dancing, really, and Paz cringed when he saw how unintentionally harsh Din was grabbing your hands. No wonder you looked uncomfortable, turning your head to face him.
Paz took that as his sign, standing up and straightening the wrinkles in his pants. His heart was pounding in his chest as he approached you. Funnily enough, both you and Din looked relieved.
“Let me,” he announced, grinning as Thalassa kept playing the tune on her datapad.
“I don’t think I will learn it, Paz,” you admitted shyly, avoiding his gaze, “Maybe I am too clumsy …”
“If I can learn to do it, you can learn to do it,” he repeated Din’s motto and gently grasped your hand, pulling it to his mouth for a light kiss.
“M’lady,” he offered, bowing his head formally, “May I ask for this dance?”
“Why of course,” you answered in an equally exaggerated voice, sounding much happier than you had before.
With the music in the background, he pulled you to his chest and started to lead you through the empty wagon ins low steps. As you grew surer, he got faster and soon you laughed with him, fitting so perfectly against him. Stars, he did not remember the last time he had had this much fun.
The melody got slower and so did the steps but he did not let go of you. Instead, he kept you even closer, feeling your heartbeat against his.
“You are a good dancer,” you said with a smile.
He twirled you around with a grin, watching as your skirt flared.
“You are a good dancer too,” he murmured, his forehead falling against yours. Your breath audibly hitched in your throat and it felt like you were alone in the wagon, “Maybe we could dance at the gala if you want.”
“I’d like that,” you whispered back, “I always feel comfortable with you, safe and – safe and warm.”
He opened his mouth. He wanted to tell you how he would keep you safe if he could. How he would make sure to always be by your side if that was what you wanted. How he wanted you to continue to travel with him and not leave him on Coruscant. His hand on your back wandered up to the back of your neck, pulling you closer. “I –“
“Kriffing Imps,” Din cursed, “Get back, get back, we need to hide.”
Immediately Paz stepped away from you, pushing you behind him with his arm in front of you.
“Get the bags,” Din hissed, already unlocking the safety of his blaster.
Thalassa was surprisingly quiet, her eyes wide as she pulled the bags from the crates with as little fuss as possible. She handed one to you as Paz grabbed his blaster, switching off the safety.
The one disadvantage they had with being in the luggage cart was that they were the last on the train. There was no way they could escape the imminent arrival of the guards and it made him sick to his stomach, especially when he was highly aware of you behind him.
“They will discover us,” you whispered, clearly scared. He saw them coming closer, slowly checking every wagon.
Din looked outside. “We need to get out of here before we cross the water, we won’t survive the waves.”
That was when they must have noticed you. Shots rang through the air and Thalassa ducked, screaming in fear as the carte behind her took a hit. Paz cursed, rushing you behind the crates as he and Din tried to return the fire. But with the slim doorway and the crates in the way it was difficult to keep cover and do any significant damage.
With a kick to one of the doors, Din managed to create a new exit, the ground only a blur as the train rushed towards a bridge across the sea. But as the Imps got closer, so did the water and soon it was clear that the meadows would be your only escape.
Paz was sitting behind the crate next to you, leaning forward to shoot. He heard a scream but even if he had managed to hit someone, there were still too many to cover the time until they would arrive in Theed.
“We will need to jump,” Din shouted.
Thalassa squeaked in shock, “We can’t! The train is moving,” another shot rang, “And they are shooting at us!”
You were sitting right next to him, eerily quiet, your hands trembling. He could see how scared you were and the thought of something happening to you made him sick to his stomach. No, as the Imps came closer, he knew he could not bear to see you hurt. His gaze met Din’s and he nodded, the plan clear.
“You jump while I cover you,” Paz announced.
You looked up at him in shock, your lips trembling as you shook your head, “Paz please, I – I am scared.”
He grabbed your hand hastily, pulling it to his mouth and pressing a kiss to your knuckles, “I promise it will be all right, just trust me. I will be right behind you, you just need to jump for me, can you do that, love?”
You nodded frantically and with a push of his hands, you stumbled over to where Din was waiting at the exit. The wind was rushing and got sick when he saw how close the sea was.
“Now!” Din shouted, pushing Thalassa away with a scream, you followed. As second later Din followed.
Paz did his best to shoot a few Imps, kicking out the bags into the air. When they reached the doorway, he knew it was time to leave. In his haste, he knocked his shoulder against the doorframe, shouting in pain as he threw himself through the opening just before the train crossed onto the water.
The landing was harsh but he did his best to roll it out, groaning as his shoulder throbbed with pain. He could hear a few shots, the Imps attempting to hurt him even after his escape but they failed. Thank the stars they did because he did not have it in himself to avoid any bullets now.
He grunted, his head resting against the grass as he held his shoulder, trying to get the pain to stop.
“Paz!” a voice shouted and footsteps came rapidly closer, “Paz, Paz are you all right?”
It was you.
You bowed over him immediately, your face blocking out the sun. Gentle hands framed his face and he smiled tiredly as he blinked against the light. Stars, you were so pretty he did not even care about his shoulder.
“How are you?” you asked quietly, your brows furrowed in worry, “You – it looked pretty bad.”
His hand closed around yours on his face, pulling it to his lips again. “I’m feeling better now that I am seeing you,” he mumbled against your palm, “Are you all right?”
“I am perfect,” you smiled, running your fingertip across the bridge of his nose, “So – so what do we do now?”
“Where’s Din?”
“Oh, he is taking care of Thalassa, she had a fright and he told me to make sure you are okay.”
“If I tell you I am not, can we stay here for a little longer? Just the two of us.”
“You would want that?” you murmured with a chuckle, “Take a nap in the sun right here?”
“I can’t imagine anything better,” he replied, his hand holding yours to his chest closing his eyes and just enjoying the calm around him with you by his side.
*
It was decided that in order to get to Coruscant on time, you would walk back to Theed.
The walk was not too strenuous and even though it was long, it offered some wonderful views of the Naboonian landscape and nature. That and the climate was nice. It was not too warm, not too cold and there was just the right amount of breeze in the air.
Even Thalassa seemed to be in better spirits.
That was, until Din had to tell her that there was no way you would be able to catch another passenger ship to Coruscant today.
“But then how will we get to Coruscant?” Thalassa asked in terror.
“I think I might know someone,” Din grumbled.
Paz snorted.
You, walking beside him, looked at him questioningly. He only shook his head, already looking forward to Thalassa’s distraught face when she would see what Din had meant.
*
It was not even a commercial passenger ship. It was a freightship to Coruscant and Thalassa’s (and yours) face could have made him laugh if it hadn’t made him wince. His shoulder was still hurting as if a loth cat had decided to bury her teeth into the muscle but he simply shouldered his bag on the other side.
That friend of Din’s, Peli was her name, had owed him a favour and a few placed on the board of the freight ship were apparently enough to cover that debt. Which is how he found himself next to you, sitting on the floor of the hull.
The one advantage this had was that freight ships were much quicker than any other mode of transportation. You were huddled up next to him, your head on his shoulder, his coat laying over you.
You were fiddling with his large hand in yours, playing with his fingers. Paz was fascinated by how small your hand was compared to his and maybe it was the pain or the exhaustion but he spread his fingers completely out, waiting for you to catch on.
He heard your small huff of laughter when you understood what he wanted to do. Gently, you laid your palm against his, seeing how his hand dwarfed yours. He smiled before closing his hold on your hand and pulling you closer until you were completely seated in his lap.
You hummed, settling your head on his shoulder, your breath fanning against his neck.
“How long until we’re there?” you asked quietly.
(Somewhere a few rows back, Thalassa was complaining about one thing or another. But he was good at tuning her out in favour of listening to you.)
“Only a few hours,” he muttered quietly, “By this time tomorrow we will be there. Then, it will only be a matter of time until we can find Thalassa’s family at the gala.”
“Have you thought about what you want to do – when it is all over?” you asked carefully.
“I will go back home,” he answered, “With the money, we can build a new school. I can get some improvements on my home done, some repairs.”
“That sounds lovely,” you answered, with a smile, “Do you think I could visit you sometime? You and the students, of course.”
“I would want nothing more,” he said quietly, “I could show you the lake, the forest, there is this nice walk up the hill from where you can see the stars at night, you would like it.”
As you both fell asleep you did not know you dreamt of the same thing.
A future together.
*
Coruscant was loud and bright and glittering.
And word spread fast – really fast – because as soon as they stepped foot into one of the spaceports, an elderly woman approached them, introducing herself as a distant aunt of Thalassa’s. A distanced aunt who had arranged for food and lodging for the entire stay.
Paz had never wanted to hug a stranger so badly in his life.
The hotel they had been ordered to was one of the finest places he had ever stayed in and they all got their individual suites. A whole suite.
“It is beautiful”, you breathed next to him, looking up at the decorated ceiling, “I don’t think I have ever seen anything this beautiful.”
Paz bit his lip. I have seen you, he wanted to say, I have seen you smile and that will be the most beautiful moment of my life.
But he did not say anything. No, he simply nodded and disappeared into his room, taking the longest shower of his life and dressing in a new suit before swallowing three bacta pills at once.
It did not take long for Thalassa to be completely back in her element. For the gala, she would need a new dress. Which meant that no price was too high, no amount of glitter or skin showing too much. And because he and Din wanted to make sure that she would remain safe until they could get the reward for finding her, they needed to accompany her on her trip.
Her trip through every single shop Coruscant’s elite had to offer.
With every shop they left, the bags got increasingly fuller and heavier and as the designated carrier of goods Paz was a little grumpy. But that soon passed when he saw how happy you were, grinning and joking with Thalassa as the latter tried on dress after dress.
As Thalassa was trying on more and more dresses – no end in sight as the wallet of her family seemed to be bottomless – Paz was sitting on one of the chairs, watching you.
You were busy staring at a mannequin at the back of the store. Your eyes were wide and your mouth slightly open in wonder as your fingers brushed over the glittering fabric of the dress.
“Would you like to try it on, ma’am?” the attending salesperson asked you
A sad smile formed on your lips and you shook your head. Paz frowned, leaning forward to hear what you said.
“No thank you,” you declined, “it’s really beautiful though.”
“Are you sure?” the woman asked again, “It’s a beautiful gown, I am sure it would look wonderful on you. Especially for the gala.”
“I can’t afford it,” you replied, shame on your face and in your voice. Paz’s heart broke for you and he frowned, unable to stop thinking about your sadness.
He watched as you looked wistfully at the dress, making your way back to where Thalassa had just stepped out of the dressing room. She was wearing a bright red number and turned this and that way to admire herself in the mirror while Din looked to be suffering even more, knowing that h would have to carry most of her purchases.
“You look wonderful,” you smiled, your eyes roaming over her dress, “Do you think you’ll wear it to the gala?”
“Oh, I don’t know,” Thalassa mused, her tone falsely indecisive as if she didn’t already know that she would buy the dress.
Paz could barely concentrate on whatever was said. All he could think about was your sad smile and how you had gazed at that dress so longingly. This entire day money was spent on Thalassa. But – you didn’t seem to have anything to wear for the gala.
As the group departed the shop, Paz motioned for Din to walk off without him. His brother in arms nodded knowingly, raising his eyebrows in an I told you so motion. Paz ignored him.
“Everything all right, Paz?” you asked, staying behind as you noticed he hadn’t followed you.
“I think you should try it on,” he blurted out, motioning to the dress, “For me … please.”
“Are you sure?” you asked, “I –“
“Yes,” he nodded, “Yes I am sure and I know you want to. Come one, love … for me.”
A few minutes later you stepped out of the dressing room, looking absolutely magnificent. Paz’s mouth gaped open as he sat in the chair. The fabric left your shoulders bare and there was a slit up your leg and stars you looked pretty. As you saw yourself in the mirror, your whole face lit up and he could only feel the warmth in his cheeks as you twirled for him.
“It is so beautiful,” you murmured in awe, hands gliding over the fabric, “It is like the colour of the night sky.”
“You look … you look perfect,” he brought out, his voice hoarse, “You look really beautiful.”
“Well, it – it was nice having it tried on,” you smiled, clearly trying to mask your sadness and his heart broke.
As you disappeared into the changing room, he whirled around to the saleswoman, “How much?”
She smiled at him knowingly. “We would be able to deliver it to your accommodation without her knowing about it,” she said as she slipped him the paper with the number.
It was not as high as he had feared. And with the pay coming in soon, this would be nothing.
“Good,” he nodded, “It should be a surprise.”
*
After a rather exhausting shopping spree with Thalassa, you were happy to be back in the hotel.
It was nice to see her in her element and certainly good to know that everyone here behaved like her. Even if it was a little annoying.
You sighed as you returned to your room. The gala was approaching fast and you were still thinking about what to get dressed in. You had brought your only good dress from home but that had been the standards from home. This here was something else entirely.
With a look at the grey fabric, looking colourless against the vibrant furniture of your hotel, you remembered the dress you had tried on. How Paz had looked at you so adoringly. How his voice had hitched and made your heartbeat quicken.
It was frustrating that you could not afford it and you wondered if maybe Thalassa would lend you one of her dresses if you asked her.
You let yourself fall onto the soft couch in the bedroom, taking in a deep breath. Yes, you were feeling a bit down. Everyone was getting ready for the opera gala and you felt like you were the only one who would be completely out of place. Even Din and Paz knew how to behave around high society, it seemed, and you clung to the idea of just … hanging out with them the entire night. Not that you wanted to do anything else anyway.
Sitting up, a box on your bed caught your eye and you frowned. You recognized the symbol from the shop and your heart skipped a beat. Quickly you stood up and walked over to your bed, keeping your eyes on the box in case you blinked and it disappeared.
Excitement grew in you and you carefully lifted the top, you squealed and let it fall back into place.
The dress.
He had bought the dress for you.
Your hands trembling from excitement and you were sure your face hurt because you were smiling so widely.
With a look at the clock, you knew you needed to hurry and you practically ran under the shower, getting ready as quickly as possible. When your body was dry enough, you hurried to the box, pulling on the dress and grinning when it fit perfectly. It was even prettier than in the shop and for the first time, you allowed yourself to truly admire yourself in the mirror.
You were excited and you looked excited. And happy and bubbly and in love and –
“Knock, knock, can I come on?” Paz’s voice sounded from outside and your smile got even wider.
“Yes, come on in!” you called, turning around to greet him.
The man stepped inside, faltering as he saw you, if only for a second, and your heart raced in your chest. He was all fancied up in his black suit and tie. His shoulder looked broad and strong and you saw that he was not wearing a blaster. He was truly ready for high society.
“Got you a present,” he murmured almost bashfully, “ I thought Thalassa could not be the only one with a bit of jewelry.”
“You already gifted me this,” you gestured to the dress, “And I will never be able to thank you for it, I – thank you, Paz, it is so lovely and it means so much and I –“, you sniffled, tears pooling in your eyes.
“Hey now,” he murmured, wrapping his arms around you, “no crying, this was supposed to make you happy.”
“And it did,” you whispered, burying into his chest, “It does.”
“Good,” he said, his arm wrapping around your waist, “Because I remember that a pretty lady promised to dance with me tonight.”
“And she intends to keep that promise,” you smiled up at him, resting your chin on his chest. It was warm and safe and familiar and your heart hurt at the thought of never seeing him again.
Then he pulled a smaller box out of his jacket, “Good, now are you ready for your second present?”
You nodded. He made a circle motion with his finger and obediently you turned around so your back was to him. You gasped when you felt something cold touch your neck and when you looked in the mirror you saw that it was a necklace he was fasting at the back of your neck.
It consisted of white gemstones, glittering in the light of the lamps and you felt you had never worn anything this expensive. You were captured by his gaze, feeling your chest and cheeks heat up with how he looked at you. His rough fingertips grazed the sensitive skin on your throat and back of your neck and goosebumps erupted everywhere his touch went. You never wanted him to stop touching you.
“You look stunning,” he said, holding your gaze, “Like the stars.”
“Thank you, Paz,” you whispered, slowly leaning back so he could rest his chin on your shoulder, his arms enveloping your middle, “It is beautiful.”
“You are beautiful,” he replied with a smile, “Now, are you ready to stun some old rich people?”
You giggled, your heart skipping a beat as he took your hand.
*
The only way to describe how you behaved in the opera was the following: a couple. As soon as you stepped out of the speeder, your arm had wrapped around his and you remained by his side the entire time. A fact that made him immensely proud.
He had watched with you by his side as Thalassa had reunited with her family and Din had received the payment in full. You were the one he was seated next to in the little private booth before the performance was starting to be honest he did not want it any other way.
He never once let go of your hand, his thumb constantly drawing patterns on your skin as you talked about all the different novelties this performance had to offer.
And it did not seem like you wanted him to either. You kept whispering about all the different things you saw, the pretty lights and dressed and clothes and the food as you shared a few appetizers with him. You both watched Thalassa in the booth with her family, getting reacquainted after years of being separated from each other.
But by far his favourite part was that his lips brushed your skin whenever he spoke into your ear.
“Everything is so beautiful here,” you murmured to him, gently squeezing his hand, “it is exciting isn’t it?”
“It is,” he agreed, keeping his eyes on you, your excited smile, and the way your free hand kept drifting to the necklace he had gifted you.
“Sorry, I couldn’t hear,” you admitted bashfully, tilting your head closer to him, to hear him better. Paz’s heart skipped a beat as he leant closer, his lips now brushing your ear. “I said,” he murmured, “It is beautiful and – I think you are the most beautiful person here.”
He heard your breath hitch and gathered his courage to lean down and press a soft kiss just beneath your ear. And as if that was not enough, he raised your hand softly against his lips again before leaning back into his own space.
You looked at him softly, a small smile on your lips and he could see how your chest heaved.
Then, you took his hand back, pulling it against your lips this time and pressing a gentle kiss against each of his knuckles, all the while keeping his gaze. Paz forgot how to breathe. And suddenly he knewhe needed to tell you now, needed to askyou now.
“When our business is done here,” he began, his throat dry and scratchy, “Would you – would you maybe like to – I mean with me, would you like to –“
“Thalassa invited us to dinner afterwards, would you like to come – oh, I am sorry.”
He had never hated Din more in his life.
*
Paz was pacing the hallway in front of Thalassa’s room.
The entire dinner he had not gotten any chance to talk to you and suddenly it had been time to go and he had overheard someone talking about how you would be offered to stay here. With Thalassa. As her assistant or something.
He had not even been able to call your name or grab your hand before the princess had whisked you away into her room and now everything felt too tight and constricting. Panic flooded him. Panic that you might accept the offer. Panic that he could not tell you how he felt. Panic that he had lost you before he even had a chance to offer himself to you.
It felt like an eternity before the door opened and you looked almost surprised to see him there. Paz’s heart pounded in his chest, a feeling of now or never coursing through him. You opened your mouth but he stopped you before you could say anything.
“Let me just –“ he murmured, “Let me just say … this. Please don’t go, love, please don’t stay here, I – I know I have nothing much to offer, certainly not as much as this,” he gestured around the grand hallway, “But … by the stars, I will make sure you will lack for nothing, I promise.”
You did not say anything.
“I – I love you,” he confessed, his shoulders dropping relief of finally having said what he had kept with him for so long, “and I – please stay with me, please come home with me, I – I can’t bear to say goodbye to you now.”
You looked at him with big eyes, teary eyes, stepping closer to him. “Paz,” you murmured, searching his gaze for something, “I declined the job offer,” you looked down at your hands, nervously fiddling with them. Automatically he took them in his, rubbing his thumbs over your knuckles.
“I love you too,” you whispered with a smile, “Very much so and I – I don’t want to say goodbye to you yet.”
“What are you saying,” he murmured, a wider grin on his face, raising your hands to his lips, “You coming home with me, love?”
“Yes,” you smiled, nudging your nose against his, “I am.”
With your words echoing in his head, he leant down and softly pressed his lips to yours. It was a slow kiss, one that you immediately started to reciprocate and goosebumps erupted all over his skin at the feeling of your lips against his. Stars, you were soft and warm and wonderful.
He felt your hands on the back of his neck, playing with the short curls there and he smiled against you, stepping closer and wrapping his arm around your waist. A giggle escaped your lips and he gripped you tighter, chasing your mouth with his as you pulled away to breathe. You did not complain one bit when his lips landed on your jaw instead, gripping his shoulders tighter as you buried your face in the crook of his neck.
Whatever journey lay ahead of you, you would master it together.

what's up it's 4 am and I woke up because of the rain and checked my phone and saw this post from @saradika but my half conscious brain was like "n..no... it's a no smut week......" and then created an entire Darth Maul drabble about him being emotionally raw instead of. ya know.
so have that in thought format I guess
even though I literally never planned on writing for him and never will again and barely write for main star wars characters much less this guy
<<
warning: moral ambiguity, canon divergence obviously, vague mentions of cannon typical violence, unedited chaos as per the usual
I think you and Maul would have to have known each other for a long time, since you were young. Maybe you've known him not just for years but since ... before he really became what he is, now. And you know know him, get him more than maybe anyone else in the galaxy, see right through his snarls and over-confidance straight to his heart, know his inside as well as you know the lines of color on his skin. You cant let it go, wont, not when he did everything to try and convince you that guy was gone, and so when he realizes, he literally takes you and runs, because he cant let go of someone like that, not ever.
And it haunts him that you could think he's evil - because maybe he is, but those moments when you tell him he's not scare him shitless but the moments when your eyes do flicker with fear?
He would conquer worlds and lay the helmets of their warriors at your feet, but you dont want that but the alternative is an unthinkable option of painstaking redemption.
And he's... young, for a sith. Not young young, just enough that he doesnt quite have a hold on the darkness in him, no matter how badly he wants to give into it, memories of his younger ambitions pierce through the sith's like terrible, stupid barbs of something so wholesome it makes him want to kill someone. Why is he... doing all of it? Those clear, bright thorns tell him it's the only way he knows to get the power to bring a future in which he and you can exist together. That he's doing this for you, for the greater good. It's in stark contrast the the thick, viscous clouds of darkness that seep into his mind, saying no. No, he is doing this because because
He gathers the courage to ask you, his greatest fear: if you're feel like his prisoner. Some sick, twisted part of him wants you to say yes, because thay pain would surely fuel him, be the greatest darkness he'd ever felt but he doesnt want that, not really. Maul is sure it would kill him, but he wants you to say no, to touch him as gently as only you can and say no with conviction and make declarations and promises that he'd only believe if they came from your lips.
Instead you shrug, and murmur not really in that honest tone of yours, the one that washes over him like mountain water.
And that's not really what he had been planning on, and something inside him just. Breaks.
You've never seen him like this, never seen him... doubt. It's never been your mission to fix him, it's not your job but theres something about the intensity in which his glowing eyes bore into you that you think is pleading with you and it makes you wish you could. Maybe he slides close, and you cant remember the last time he was almost clumsy? The last time he was so gentle with you with, well, anything, and so you let him.
He's one of the few men in the galaxy who would willingly, maybe even happily, slaughter nations, and you let him pull you into his arms. Because you know him, and you're not sure whats next but you know of all the people he's willing to hurt, you are not one of them.
Maul bumps his forehead into yours and it's so amazingly tender you think you could cry, but instead you bump him back, until he's carefully resting against you, horns making divots into your skin. Your hands splay over his chest, and he wonders if you're feeling for a heartbeat, wonders if he could create one that would tell you the words that he's never been taught to say.
And you're waiting for his bright eyes to snap back into focus and for his grip on you to change, but it doesnt come. Instead his nose ghosts over the curves of your face and his breath is hot and bordering irregular.
And his voice is raw but he tells you that you can go, if you want. That he would let you.
-
bonus?
You dont, and maybe you should've but how could you? How could you just leave when your hand has slid up and up until you're running your fingers on his jaw? And Maul is closing his eyes and thinking about kissing you and also thinking about well - the idea that maybe both the jedi and the sith are missing something, something beautiful about passion, that idea is too big for him, right now at least. But he can think about how hes never felt something so light as you in his arms, just letting him lean on you and the significance of your muscles relaxed against his own. And he can think about how that is something he wants to protect.

AO3 /=/ More chapters
Side notes: felt like shit for the past days, but in the name of  #7daysnosmutchallenge i decided to ignore my self-deprecation about my writing and participate. @agirllovespancakes   Hope you enjoy it! The following chapter is my favourite so far.
WC: 1923
Mando'a translation:
Alor - leader
Ad’ika - little one
Vor entye - Thank you (lit. "I accept a debt")
Me'ven - Huh? What? Expression of bewilderment or disbelief
Additional:
Keldabe Kiss - head-butt “kiss”
Confusion and relief washed him like a waterfall, while the same voice chuckled and added, “The Alor’s been waiting for you for some time already. I thought that little goblin got you killed”.
“He didn’t,” Din was never fond of their dynamic of “manly men” but, unfortunately, once it was established, he didn’t know how to change it into something with less insults, constant pushing and aggressive bickering, which the other man obviously enjoyed.
“Figured,” he snorted back with a sound of a vibro-blade gently tapping the beskar on Din’s chest plate, “Let’s go, she wants to see you.” With a deep sigh, he followed putting the blaster on safe mode and back into the holster.
The tunnel eventually ended in a smooth metal door with no handles or external locks. It opened after Paz activated magnetic key inside his vambrace. “How long did it take you to find us?” the blue giant asked when they entered a wide illuminated corridor with concrete walls and started to pass other doors and arcs.
“Not long,” he grumbled shortly not in a mood for a chat, which only earned another amused chuckle.
“Sure. It’s your first move, right?” Paz said over his shoulder when they took a right turn.
“Second”
“Yeah, yeah. But you were there when we moved to Nevarro. Didn’t have to play treasure hunt, did you?”
In most cases, ignoring Paz only riled him up more, but still Din refused to answer this one, his attention was too much consumed by the glimpses of common areas they were passing where he could see few other mandalorians, some mismatched furniture and even occasional kid. They always kept their actual numbers and location of other kindred hideouts a secret for the most members of the covert to prevent accidental leaks of information. Since Din was outside the covert for most of his time, he wasn’t shared with such delicate facts. Of course, he knew what to say to access his own covert through a network, but that was a common information for anyone, because it couldn’t be used properly without consensual involvement from one of them, and it had special code words in case of hostage, blackmail, torture or other similar situations. His mind worked as fast as it could, after so much time from his last proper rest, to take in all the changes.
From what he saw the layout of the new place was pretty much the same: first open rooms for gathering and meetings, then most probably storage facilities in one wing and various living spaces, class rooms and playgrounds in the other with a forge being somewhere in the middle of the place. So far, the new home was more spacious, much more secluded with no natural light, better air conditioning system, and it even had an official up-front cover, all of which was understandable considering local climate, population and coordinated government.
The corridor they were crossing was symmetrical to another and bended on the right side around the oval room. Above the forge entrance there was the Mythosaur’s skull looking like it was there for ages.
“He’s here as you asked, Alor,” Paz said making him drag his eyes from the metal skull to meet the Armourer.
She were busy, as always, working on a small piece while a kid, who barely reached her shoulders, stood beside and looked closely over her shoulder. His arrival wasn’t acknowledged by her in any way as she continued to carefully hit the metal in a regular rhythm. Paz went to lean with his back on one of the walls, which wasn’t covered in equipment or shelves, and started to sharpen his blade with faying disinterest to the surroundings. Only the kid threw a quick glance at him before going back to the view at hand. Used to her mannerism, he just took a seat at the low bench in the middle of the room facing the forge.
Her golden helmet was brightly illuminated with white fire tails from inside the foundry accentuating little horns with dark shadows. At some point, after alternating between heavy hits with a big hammer and gentle touches with a smaller one, she stopped, lifted the piece to show it to the kid and murmured something to them. The ad’ika listened closely, nodding several times, following with their visor every detail she pointed at while talking. They almost stood on their toes manifesting their curiosity, barely contained eagerness and all-consuming enthusiasm that could possess you this way only in a happy childhood. The sight of them struck a sharp pang deep behind his protective beskar, which he quickly subdued and willed to silence. Now was not the time to grieve for the missed future in an approach of a conversation and explanations he was surely expected to deliver.
Before landing, short idea crossed his mind at a light’s speed – did he really need to come here and with this… “prize”? He could’ve easily just buried the damned thing somewhere, found the most remote and empty planet to die on in an isolated peace ignoring all the nonsense he received unknowingly. In the end of a day, the Galaxy was not just big but incomprehensibly colossal. He didn’t owe anything substantial to Bo-Katan, and he would never call himself irreplaceable in the covert. Now, when his quest was complete, the previous repetitive routine looked pale and barely tolerable in comparison. The endless race from one planet to another, one bounty to another had been draining him for years, but he felt it catch up with him only when he saw Grogu leave for the last time. He couldn’t bring himself to care for anything like he used to with a restless sounds of the beast scratching at his heart from the inside in the background.  The thought of abandoning everything and everyone was shoved back to where it came from with tired irritation and annoyance. Fleeing was not his way of dealing with impending difficulties. He was trained and taught to plan them out with caution and mindfulness, go through them with fierce determination and ruthless honour. Never purposefully seek but always be ready to meet death while continuing to fight for his cause until the last breath. That’s what he always did, what his people lived by. It was engraved into his body and soul to guide him when everything else failed and left him blind.
Neon sparks danced around the Armourer’s hand when she was soldering inner wirings back. After assessing her work to be done, she kneeled on one leg to help the ad’ika to put freshly fixed chest plate back to where it belonged and to receive a confident “vor entye” in response followed with a short clink of a keldabe kiss. Finally free to burn some of that accumulated energy, the little mandalorian ran away jumping with excitement. An unexpected recognition eased the tension in his shoulders, the same carefree feeling only born out of different roots: theirs from happiness and his from total lack of fucks to give. Whatever it was, it was going to happen. The stars could start to explode, people go insane, animals talk, the dead come back to life, paralyzed walk and so on. See if he cared.
The Armourer started cleaning her working space, turning the foundry off, arranging her tools in familiar order and still not looking at him. When she was almost finished, Din broke the silence himself, “I fulfilled my quest.” His words were muffled with a sound of closing shelf. She turned her bottomless dark visor to him and keeping the eye contact took a seat opposite to him in fluid unhurried movements.
“Good,” she nodded. Her majestic timbre shortly brought goosebumps to his back. “What did you learn on your journey?”
He swallowed hard around the question. “I learned what I want to pursue in life,” in the corner of his eye, he noticed Paz faltering his idle actions. “But I know it now only because I lost it. And,” he suppressed a sigh. “I can’t get it back.”
After a moment of studying his figure, she explained evenly, “No one and nothing worthy of pursuing could be the same as they used to be in the past since they are alive, vital, meaning forever changing.” She gave him some space to take in what she said before continuing, “Is there anything else weighing on you?”
Din clenched his fists on his thighs. It was burning inside his belt pouch since he entered the covert, almost glowing despite its name. He unclasped the leather and retrieved it to place on the small table between them, “I accidently acquired it while rescuing the child for the last time.” Both of mandalorians’ helmets glued their attention to it.
“Me'ven? Accidently?! Accidently “acquire” the karking dark…” Paz unfolded his arms to step closer and loom over Din in his full height while barking in a mocking tone, until the Alor interrupted him with a more pressing question.
“Did you take it from a slain opponent?” she took it with her gloved hands to have a better look. When he didn’t answer right away, her helmet slightly angled back to him from the saber.
“Yes, but I didn’t know what it was,” though, his last words were overlapped with a wheezing laughter that recreated almost the same reaction from another man he knew, Din continued. “I was told by Bo-Katan that it was something she needed but she didn’t specify how she must get it, until it was too late.”
With Paz slowly coming down from his high in the background, the Armourer was finishing her examination. “Bo-Katan Kryze. A name I haven’t heard in a long time.” Syllables slowly rolled on her tongue as she returned the saber back to the table and brought her visor to him. “You might’ve figured it out already. We do not follow these power centered ideas for they’re misguiding and not essential to our prosperity. However,” she made an emphasis on that word paying a slight turn towards Paz who poorly attempted to suppress his giggles. “Some of mandalorians, who were raised with that perception of the Creed, idolize the darksaber for its,” she paused for a moment, “Rich history as a symbol of unity.” That earned a smirking huff from Paz who started wandering around them in silent anticipation. “What interests me is why is it still with you, if Bo-Katan was there to witness it in your hands?”
“I…We were helped by the Jedi who then took the child in his care,” he shifted barely in his seat under her unyielding gaze, “She told me she was going to challenge me only when I’m recovered from the mission. We agreed upon a date and a place to meet. Then went separate ways.”
She hummed to that, taking a deep breath and asking the final question he was preparing to hear since he found out about the nature of the weapon, “And what are you planning to do?” He looked at it again, lost, trying to find the answer he was sure of at least halfway through. “Are you planning to submit and give it away or bear the new responsibility according to yourself?”
“I don’t know. What should I do?”
“Not should,” she moved her helmet negative, “What do you want to do?”
He blinked a few times at her, trying to gather his loose thoughts, “I don’t want anything anymore,” was his only answer.

Surprise {Dave York x F!Reader}
Rating: Everyone
Word Count: 1.9k
Warnings: Food? Alluding to Dave’s dark job, fluff, allusions to spiciness.
Comments: Yes I know, a Dave York fic that isn’t filthy. This is for @wardenparker and I hope that she has a fantastic birthday today!!!! Your husband Dave can’t be home for your birthday, and you try to make the best of it. But you realize when you wake up that morning , that somethings not quite right.
Tumblr media
“It’s okay honey, I know you have to work.” You lie into the phone and are thankful that for once Dave hadn’t wanted to FaceTime, knowing that he would have immediately known you weren’t being truthful. “It’s honestly just another day.”
Dave huffs and you immediately imagine that crease in his brow, the way that his lips flatten when he doesn’t like something that he hears. His eyes wouldn’t have gone cold, they rarely did when he was home, but he would have given you a look that clearly told you that you were full of shit. “It’s not just another day. It’s your birthday.”
“And?” You give a small shrug that he can’t see, trying not to let the disappointment swallow you. “We can do something when you get back.”
“Okay baby, when I get back I’m going to make this up to you.” Dave promises before he sighs. “Babe-“
“I know.” He needed to get back to work. “Go. I’ll be fine. I love you.” You insist.
“I love you.” The beep of the call ending sounds in your ear and you sigh when you pull it away and set it down on the table next to the sofa.
Most of the time Dave’s traveling didn’t bother you. Even when it left you in the house all by yourself, Molly and Alice with Carol so it was just you and the little Jack Russell terrier that you had named Jack Daniels after your husband’s favorite liquor.
You groan, getting up and deciding that you were done feeling sorry for yourself in the living room. Jack was already out, curled up in his little bed although you could almost count on him joining you in your bed at some point tonight, often sleeping on Dave’s pillow when he was gone.
A habit reinforced by Dave’s caution had you checking the doors and the windows, walking over to the control panel and setting the alarm before you make your way upstairs. It wasn’t easy being the wife of a man who was essentially a DIA assassin, but you had understood that with Dave, the bad came with the good.
At one point in time he had been in the service, working for God and country with the flag on his shoulder and pride in his work. The things he had done had been for the greater good, at least that’s how they had viewed it. Until the day his team learned exactly how expendable they were.
You had met Dave at the right time. His marriage to Carol was coming to an end and he had been lost, in his words - floundering. He had been furnishing his new house, his bachelor pad when he had come into your store. Needing everything from a coffee maker to pots and pans. He hadn’t been argumentative in his divorce, giving everything to Carol. She had put up with a lot while he was working out his inner demons.
Still, it makes you proud that he shares with you. Telling you more than he had the first woman he had married. The one who had borne him two beautiful little girls, but never had a true grasp on what made David York tick. He is determined to not have that kind of divide this time, so he was honest, open with you. Even if the things he tells you are tough to swallow at times.
Walking through the hallway, you make your way to the bedroom you shared with him. The bed is comfortable but always more so when he is in it with you, his arms around your body, pulling you back against his while his soft snores tickle the back of your neck.
Unfortunately that wasn’t happening tonight, so you go into the bathroom to start your nightly routine and brush your teeth. Once done, you change into soft sleep shorts and a tank top, climbing in the bed that always seems so large when he’s not there beside you and turn off the light. Maybe you’ll go treat yourself to some ice cream tomorrow.
****
You dream about him. Being deep in your feels, your subconscious brings back your first date with Dave. You hadn’t expected the divorced, father of two to be so thoughtful as to schedule a cooking class on a first date. Anticipating the normal dinner out, accompanied with the getting-to-know-you questions, you had been delighted when he had pulled up at the teaching restaurant.
“Dave-”
“I figured that this would be more fun than the regular, awkward scrambling for conversation date.” He tells you with a small shrug, tossing you a small grin. “Plus I noticed all your cookbooks when we FaceTimed in your kitchen.”
He pauses and frowns, “we don’t have to though...I can-”
“This is great.” You shake your head and start opening the door to get out, impressed by the thought he had put into this. He knows you aren’t a professional chef, just that you love making new recipes and trying different foods. The fact that he would put so much thought in it earned him extra points. “What are we making?”
“The class today is making crepes.” Dave tells you, getting out himself and when you walk around the car, his hand finds its way to your lower back while the two of you walk towards the door.
“I’ve always wanted to learn to make them.” You admit excitedly, making him grin again.
“Good. I was hoping it was something you weren’t a master at.” He throws you a wink before he lets go of your back to open the door for you. “Let’s learn how to make crepes and I can show off my incredible knife skills.”
You later find out that hadn’t exactly been a joke, but hand to hand combat was slightly different from slicing the strawberries for the crepe filling.
Groaning quietly, you swear you can almost smell crepes when you wake up. The rich vanilla scent of them cooking tickles your nose and you can taste them on your tongue. You and Dave had an amazing time on the date. He had indeed shown you his knife skills but what had surprised you was how good he was at making crepes.
He was methodical and patient. Things that it took to make the deceptively simple recipe. You had fallen in love with him a little while he spread the batter for the crepes around on the flat surface, his bottom lip between his teeth and his eye narrowed in concentration. He had later told you that it was just like learning the hundreds of small things that made him undoubtedly good at his real job. His training and ability to follow orders to the letter coming in handy.
Your first kiss happened because of the crepes. A tiny bit of the sweet cream that you had made for the filling to fold the strawberries into was dotted at the corner of your mouth and he had swooped in, his lips whisking it away after they lingered slightly. It was like a scene from a movie and had stolen your breath just as much as the love interest.
Throwing back the covers, you sigh. Another year older, but you couldn’t be upset that your favorite person wasn’t here to celebrate it with you. It was just something that unfortunately happened with the responsibilities of adulthood. It made you yearn for those days when your biggest worry was that your friends would think your birthday party was lame.
Surprised that Jack hadn’t been beside you when you woke up, you make your way downstairs. Intent on coffee and to decide if you want to go have breakfast somewhere by yourself or eat the leftovers in the fridge. You frown slightly, the scent of coffee under the still lingering illusion of crepes.
There is a small noise that is Jack. His nails clicking excitedly while he prances around but when you walk into the kitchen, you know why.
Dave. Dave in all his glory, smoothing out a layer of batter on the crepe maker that he had insisted be on your wedding registry, despite the impracticality of it. The crepe maker that honestly you never used, but Dave did.
He must have heard your small, sharp inhale of surprise. Looking up, he sets the batter spreader down and gives you a smile. “Happy birthday baby.” He murmurs, picking up the rag next to the crepe machine and walking around the island to come over and give you a kiss.
“Dave!” You gladly wrap your arms around your husband and accept his kiss, not letting your surprise spoil the feeling of your lips meeting again for the first time in nearly two weeks. When he pulls back you give him a confused look. “I thought-”
“I was at the airport when I called you.” He admits, making you realize why he didn’t want to FaceTime you. You would have known. “I caught the red eye back home. Did you think I was really going to miss your birthday?” He asks, giving you an amused look.
“I- I know you had to work.” Dave scoffs and shakes his head at your answer.
“Baby, I told you. I want to do better. Not make the same mistakes I made before.” He kisses you again and reluctantly lets go of you so he can turn his attention back to the crepe machine and the batter that is cooking on its surface.
There are flowers. You notice that when you look around, slightly overwhelmed by the fact that your husband has just flown across the world to make it back for your birthday. A birthday you had previously anticipated spending alone. The beautiful blooms were in the crystal vase that had also been a wedding gift.
“Make yourself some coffee and sit down, babe.” Dave tells you as he flips the crepe over smoothly to cook on the other side. “I’ve already made the fillings.”
He had. So many different types of fruit were chopped up and you see the bowl of fresh sweet cream set next to the tantalizing display.
“You’ve been busy.” You comment, walking over to the coffee maker to make your cup. “Have you slept, honey?” You ask, worried that he is running on fumes.
“I slept on the plane.” Even with the distrust that comes with his job, his time in the service allowed Dave to sleep anywhere, anytime at the drop of a hat. It confused you as much as enraged you on nights where sleep eluded you. Dave turns back to you and wraps his arms around you. “I’m yours for the day, baby. Whatever you want to do. It’s your special day.”
You tilt your head while he kisses along the bare skin of your shoulder and up your neck. “I’m already having the best day possible.” You murmur, closing your eyes with a smile. “My husband surprised me with the best gift by coming home and making my favorite thing that he makes for breakfast.”
Dave’s grin against your skin makes you giggle, his five o’clock shadow rasping against your nerves and tickling you. “Oh yeah?” He asks huskily. “Maybe after breakfast we can take a shower together and I can give you another one of your gifts.”
“There’s more?” You hum, knowing exactly what he means.
“Mhm.” He kisses just below your ear. “And then I’ll let you open the gift I have in my carryon.” He tells you, making you sigh happily. While both of those gifts were amazing, the best one was having your husband right here, wrapped around you and ready to spend the day with you. Plus…..his crepes.

What the Future Holds
The lazy days are few and far between. Training, flight hours and general military bullshit tended to take up a lot of Francisco Morales’s schedule. After that, he was always doing something. Remodeling the house that he had bought was his hobby and time off from being a soldier often found him stripping wood floors, tearing out a wall that he decided closed off the space or pouring over plumbing books to determine the best way to install that rainshower fixture he wanted in the bathroom.
Right now though, you were being lazy. Decantantly so. A summer rainstorm had put an axe in his plans of putting a coat of varnish down on the floors of the bedroom. He kept the windows open while he did for ventilation and it was too humid with the rain. So instead of tinkering, he was currently laid out on the couch, head tipped back and the bill of his cap covering his eyes while his ankles were crossed.
Smiling at the sight, you look back down at your book for a second before you decide to shut it. Not like you were actually reading it anyway. Not when there was something much more entertaining, right in front of you. Pushing up out of the big, overstuffed chair that he had set up specifically for you to read in, you walk over to the couch.
Frankie doesn’t even open his eyes, hearing your quiet footsteps approach and he uncrosses his arms and holds them open in invitation. He knows what you want and you love him for it. You happily accept that invitation and quickly lay down, practically on top of him and snuggle into him. The only sound is the grunt he gives when your knee shifts a little too close to his balls for his liking and he wraps his arms around you.
For a long moment, that’s all you do, lay in his arms and listen to the soft wheezing of his breathing. He would never admit that he had something wrong with his nasal passage, but you didn’t mind it. Not until he was asleep on his back and the chainsaws started. Normally curling around him would stop that because he would immediately change positions so he could spoon you when you were in bed.
His heart thuds slowly in his chest, making you smile. It was always good when it was like this. His adrenaline low and his body relaxed, something he strived for when he wasn’t running and gunning for Uncle Sam.
“What do you see for us?” The question is quiet, voice cracking slightly like it does when he lowers his voice too much.
“See for us?” You turn to look up at him, his eyes still closed and the close shave that he normally has during his week has turned into stubble. He always hates when he has to come home and shave.
“Yeah.” He squirms a bit, his hand rubbing your back. Something you had noticed he liked to do when he was having a serious conversation with you. “The future. Do you- what do you see?”
“Hmm.” You relax, snuggling into him a bit more and your own hand starts tracing little shapes on his pec. Doodles that involve a lot of hearts. “Well….I can see us getting something to eat tonight.” You tease, letting out a small laughing squeal when he pinches your side lightly.
“Be serious, jerk.” He huffs, making you giggle.
“Okay. Where do you see us?” Things had been easy with Frankie. Just kind of happening. A meeting at a bar that turned into a date. A date that turned into a soldier coming home with you. To that soldier deciding that he had plenty of room at his place and it was ridiculous for you to pay rent on your shitty apartment with it’s constantly breaking bathroom faucet when he didn’t live in his house for half a year at the time. You hadn’t mentioned that you had never moved into the second bedroom. Your furniture was in there, but you had always slept right beside him from the get go.
He sighs, making you grin again. You knew he wanted you to admit what you wanted first. Never wanting to push even though he had to know. He had to. He’s quiet for a long moment before he finally answers. “I want this.” He admits, hauling you a bit closer. “You. I- you’re it for me.”
You make a little happy noise, your heart clenching and you turn your head to kiss his jaw. “You are it for me too baby.” You hear him hum, that happy rumble in his chest and he turns to kiss your lips. “So what does that entail?” You ask curiously, wanting to know what Francisco Morales thought about when he envisioned the future.
“Finishing this house.” He huffs, rolling his eyes, but you know he loves it. He enjoys updating the house and making it look good. “Maybe getting married, having a few kids?”
He poses it as a question, telling you that it’s your decision. If you didn’t want marriage but wanted the kids, you felt like he would be okay with that. He was pretty easy going on that front.
“Two, three?” You ask, making him chuckle.
“I guess it depends on how we handle the first one?” He offers, a smile on his face while his hands start rubbing your back again. “If you want them, obviously.”
You smile, loving that he’s not pushing this. Most military members wanted to get married early, sometimes right away. Frankie wasn’t like that. He hadn’t even brought it up before now and he was just asking what you thought, not telling you what was going to happen.
“I wouldn’t mind that.” You smirk when his breath catches, settling your head against his heart again and sighing. “It wouldn’t be soooo bad, being the Morales dependent.”
His chuckle rumbles through you, bouncing you slightly on his chest and he sighs. “No, I wouldn’t mind you having my social security number.”
“So marriage, kids, finishing the house.” You tick off the ideas out loud. “So all of this is dependent on one very important thing.” You push up slightly so you can look into his eyes.
“What’s that?” He asks, lifting a brow at you in question.
“That we love each other through thick and thin. Forever.” You whisper, making him grin happily and haul you up to where you are laying completely on top of him. His head lifts off the sofa cushion to kiss you passionately.
“Done, baby.” He promises you. “You don’t even have to worry about that.”

Hi! I’m a lurker, but I was reading your Client series and the dynamic between Pero and his wife is so lovely! And he cares and loves her deeply. But how would he react if his heavily pregnant wife gets up super early to make him breakfast? I have a feeling that would be something that she would do.
**Ohhh yes!!! So sweet! Part of The Client Series
Tumblr media
Breakfast
It wasn’t often that Pero slept later than you did. Oftentimes he was awake, holding you in his arms and stroking your expanded belly when your eyes would flutter open. Watching sleep fade away from your eyes and that look that he loves so damn much comes into them when they find his orbs. The look that tells him that you love him, that you are happy that he is there with you and that there is nowhere else that you would rather be.
With the baby only weeks away, you were restless. Often unable to get comfortable and there were plenty of nights that Pero had rubbed your stomach to make the baby calm down. Or the little girl as you had come to find out a few months ago. Pero had beamed with pride when he had seen the little wiggling baby on the monitor, his eyes glassy with tears. That prideful look hadn’t changed one bit when the doctor announced that Baby Tovar was now Baby Girl Tovar. He didn’t care if it was a boy or a girl, only that they were healthy and so were you.
He knows instantly when he wakes up that you are not in the bed. Not just from the fact that he always wakes up facing your side and it’s empty, but just the absence of your presence in the room. He can’t describe it, but he knows when you are there. From your scent to the soft way you sigh, he instinctively knows if you are there.
Frowning, he gets up and pads to the bathroom. His bladder calling but also wanting to make sure you weren’t in here peeing for the ten thousandth time. It amused him at time when you wanted to go out but he was having to stop and find you a bathroom every five minutes. You glower and swat at his chest to make him laugh, telling him that he wouldn’t be so smug if he had a baby using his bladder for a trampoline. That was the truth, but he still smirked every time you gave him those desperate eyes before he hustled you to the closest one.
You aren’t in there. Pero quickly makes his way out and into the hallway when the smell hits him. His lips curve up and he starts making his way to the kitchen. Mouth watering the closer he gets and he knows that you have been up for awhile when he sees your tea kettle sitting on the warmer and a cup of your favorite tea already half drunk on the island.
You’re gorgeous. Your stomach protruding well beyond its normal position and so full of his child while you hum to yourself. You are the absolute picture of perfection. Taken to wearing these soft white nightgowns that actually highlight how swollen your stomach is rather than hiding it, you move as gracefully as you possibly can while you are so heavily pregnant.
French toast. He smelled it in the hallway but now the scent of vanilla and cinnamon are even more pronounced. Watching you batter a piece of bread in the egg wash and put it on the griddle plate over the burners.
The little one must have been craving french toast again. It has become one of your go-to comfort foods. Pero even learned how to make a decent version of the breakfast food for you when you crave it yet need to rest.
He walks up to you silently, knowing you won’t startle. It's something he’s done often enough. You just seem to melt into his arm. Still, he wraps his arm around your belly protectively and shuffles you back so that you don’t bump the hot stove. “Careful mi amor.” He murmurs, tucking his head into your neck and kissing it softly. “We do not wish our little one to be burned.”
He knows you can’t burn the baby. It’s more that he doesn’t want you hurt. You hum, tilting your neck and flipping the bread to cook the other side. “Good morning.”
“Morning.” His hands rub your stomach, large hands so gentle on the belly. Smiling against your skin when the little one kicks him. “Future footballer.” He murmurs with pride.
You chuckle and turn slightly so you can kiss. Him. “What are you doing up already?” You ask him softly, knowing that it is still plenty of time to let him sleep some more.
“The bed was lonely without you.” Pero teases, rocking side to side with you gently while he slowly strokes your belly. “I missed the sound of the toilet flushing.”
Huffing at him only makes him chuckle. “You should let me do this, amor.” He murmurs, knowing that most likely you would not. You had been adamant that he let you do things for yourself until you asked for help. It was a good thing because he knew that he would try to make you rest for your entire pregnancy if you hadn’t. He wanted you to be as comfortable as possible and that sometimes translated into making you do nothing. Which was something you didn’t stand for.
“Pero.” Your tone was laced with exasperated humor. “Are you going to give birth to the baby for me too?”  You tease, even as you yank the spatula away from his reach.
“If I could, amor.” He tells you honestly. “I do not wish you to suffer any pain or discomfort.”
Your laugh makes him smile, your other hand slides up and cups his cheek. “That was impossible months ago.” You remind him, having had him witnessed all the less than glamorous aspects of growing a child.
“There is coffee love.” You murmur, nodding towards the machine. “All you have to do is hit the button. You weren’t drinking coffee obviously but the fact that you would make sure that his was ready to go when he wanted it.
“You are too good to me, amor.” He groans, kissing up your neck ardently. “Growing my baby, loving me, cooking me breakfast, making sure that the infernal machine doesn’t hate me.” You chuckle. Pero had a love/hate relationship with your coffee maker, claiming it was too difficult at times to figure out when he was caffeine deprived.
“Cook you breakfast?” You give him a startled look before you glance over at the stack of french toast slices. “You want me to make you some?”
Pero laughs, kissing you again and you grin. You might let him have a slice or two if he was good.

Hi there! I love your Pedro boys headcanons and I just would like to know.... What would their reactions be if you dragged them to Disney World? What's their favorite ride or character to meet there? Please my Disney loving ass needs to know these things!
At Disney World:
Javier: He’s grumpy but it’s really because they don’t allow smoking in the happiest place on earth. How the fuck is he supposed to be happy if he can’t have a cigarette? He doesn’t mind the original Mickey Mouse, admits after awhile that he watched the cartoons when it was younger.
Ezra: Epcot is where Ezra loves to spend his time. The entire appeal of traveling around the world going to different areas is pretty cool, even if it’s commercialized. He also like the Misson: Space ride.
Mando: Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Although he doesn’t like the Storm Troopers that are constantly around. Although he still prefers the Razor Crest.
Catfish: He hates the crowds that are at Disney. They make him a little nervous for obvious reasons. Even with the security that the parks provide, he will be a little on edge just like most veterans.
Modern Tovar: This grump faced Spaniard actually likes the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. He gets to sit and its dark, they’ve actually made it seem fun. Plus the cannons firing always makes you jump so he can chuckle at you.
Agent Whiskey: His favorite character would be Belle. Don’t look too closely at why he enjoys the sweet, brave woman who loved a beast. Nope, don’t look at that at all, or why he always calls you his Belle.
Max Phillips: He hates Disney World.....seriously hates it. Allllllll this fresh food and you won't even let him have a taste!!!! He’s pouty and sulking, but he does love the rollercoasters. Any of them.
Marcus Pike: He’s kind of sucker for this place. His favorite place with wherever you are. He’s kind of partial to Ariel from The Little Mermaid. He likes her yearning for love.
Modern Oberyn: All of them. Oberyn’s favorite thing at Disney is people watching. The characters and rides are far less interesting to him than watching the families swirling around the two of you and making observations to you with an indulgent smirk. Thank God you are staying on resort because if you spot something you like, he’s buying it.
Dave York: Murder daddy may look like he’s not having fun, but he actually does enjoy himself. You and his girls freaking out at Disney is something that makes him smirk as he watches. He loves the Magic Kingdom, simply for how the three of you react to everything. It’s really a case of your happiness equals his happiness.
Marcus Moreno: Pandora is his favorite area and his favorite ride is the Avatar Flight of Passage. He loves when he gets to fly with the toys from the Heroics but there is something magical about the ride that he just loves. He also loves Ariel. It was Missy’s favorite movie when she was younger and The Little Mermaid holds a special place in his heart from all her Halloween’s dressed up as her.
Max Lord: He likes the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Alistair also loves it and he enjoys watching the live action and seeing the stunts being performed for you in heart pounding speeds. He also loves the feel of Hollywood Blvd. Makes him want to take the two of you out to L.A. to see the real thing.
Zach Wellison: Kilimanjaro Safaris is his favorite. Just observing the animals and sitting with you on the buses. It’s relaxing and he likes the easy pace of it. Disney can be a little overwhelming with the crowds and this helps get him refocused.

Best View {Max Phillips x F!Reader}
Tumblr media
Rating: Mature
Warnings: Language, Max being a shit, soft feelings
Part of @autumnleaves1991-blog Writer Wednesday 7/21/21 tagging @clydesducktape
Have you ever seen such a beautiful sight? Sitting and staring at the view, you are surprised that the companion next to you is so quiet. Looking over you see the way his eyes are narrowed, taking in his view from under the wide brim of his brand new cowboy hat.
In fact most of his outfit is new. It might be the only time that you have seen Max Phillips in a pair of jeans, even if they were designer. Stiff and obviously new, you had to admit that the denim and the light button down shirt that covered his chest looked good on him.
“Remind me why we are in the middle of the fucking desert?” He grumps, making you grin as you turn back to the red clay view, the rocky monuments and the awe inspiring view of nature.
“Because it’s gorgeous.” You tell him again for the thousandth time. It wasn’t like you forced him to come with you, you hadn’t. You hadn’t even expected him to come when you told him about wanting to go, but that hadn’t stopped him from packing his bag and complaining the entire time.
“It’s hot.” He corrects you, his hands in the leather gloves gripping the reins of his horse a bit tighter. It was amazing he knew how to ride a horse at all. You hadn’t expected that either. Even though the horse had shied away from him at first, eventually the beast had calmed down enough to let the vampire on his back
“And it’s bright.” His petulant tone makes you grin at him. His eyes probably should be covered by sunglasses, as bright as the sun is but he had managed to drop them and another horse had crushed the expensive shades under their hooves. You had to bite you lip to stifle your laughter as he cursed the horse, you, the desert and the Godforsaken sun.
“Poor baby, you didn’t have to come.” You remind him again. “You could have stayed in our room and watched porn.” He wrinkles his nose and waves his hand dismissively.  “Not any fun if you aren’t there to be disgusted by it.” He pouts, making your chuckle. He would never admit that he did things, said things just to get a rise out of people. You had noticed it and when you stopped letting the shock value get to you, Max inner soft side had slowly started peeling back for you to see.
It was amazing that a vampire could be such a softy, but he was. He had claimed that he wasn’t losing his portable heater and food truck, but he hadn’t fed from you once. Although the cuddles had been pretty consistent, curled up around you to suck up your warmth and affection. It was fun to see the man to seemingly live for business and sales snuggle into your body like a happy puppy.
“Why are you here?” You ask him looking back out over the amazing scenery and imagining what it must have been like to live out here in the days of the Wild West. Where the horses you were on weren’t sweet and docile for tourists, but the main means of transportation.
Max scoffs. “Are you serious?” He asks you, but you just hum, absorbing the moment and the sounds of the families behind you, kids laughing an playing fading from your consciousness until it felt like you and Max were the only ones out here.
“You don’t like the sun, you don’t like the heat, you don’t really like being outside.” You shrug and finally look back over at him with a curious expression. “So why come?”
Moving gently, he motions the horse closer to yours, leaning and and giving you a small smirk. “The blinding view of course.” He tells you, making you roll your eyes and sigh. “You.”
That surprises you, quickly searching his eyes and finding that he’s being truthful, you soften. “Me?”
If he weren’t a vampire, you would swear he was blushing but he nods. “Baby, I want to be here with you.” He tells you, reaching out and taking your hand. “Even if it means horrendous headaches because of the sun and having to wear more sunscreen than Evan’s white ass.”
You snort and he grins at you, giving you a trademark Max Phillips wink. “I didn’t have to come to the middle of the desert to find the view I like most.” You could even ignore the way that his eyes drift down to your chest and then back up to your eyes. He hadn’t really meant your tits and both of you know. “I get the best view every day when I see you.”

The Castle Residence: Thanksgiving BillyRusso x Reader – Part-2
Side note: I'll be posting some fics throughout this week as part of #7daysnosmutchallenge. I am a new writer. So please feel free to let me know if I wrote anything weird. I really do hope you enjoy it. Thanks <3
And thank you @agirllovespancakes for initiating this challenge.
So here we go!! :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You are getting ready to go to work. After dressing up, you go to the kitchen to get some breakfast. You see Andrew making coffee. And the breads are already on the toaster. So you take the eggs out of the fridge to make some omelets.
You ask Andrew, “Omelets for you too, right?”
“Yeah, sure.”, Andrew replies.
You make the omelets. And when you are eating, you remind him of tonight’s plan.
“Hey, you do remember today we are having the Thanksgiving dinner at the Castles, right?”, you ask.
“Oh, shoot. I forgot we had that.”, Andrew replied.
“Okay. Good thing that I reminded you”, you scoff and say.
“Oh Y/N. Can you please attend that and tell them that I got stcuk in some work. I really have some plans.”, Andrew begs.
“What? No way dude. I am only invited to these because I am YOUR sister. So you are not bailing on me.”, you say it with a stern voice.
Your tone makes him reconsider. He sighs, and finally gives in. “Fine, I’ll pick you up when I return home.”
“Oh, no. I’ll be going a little early. I told Maria that I’ll help her out with the prep. So you come there directly.”, you reply.
“Okay. I’ll see you there. Bye”, Andrews says and goes off to work.
You finish off your breakfast and then head out. ---- Castle Residence -----
Everybody is at the table having the Thanksgiving dinner. The Castles were sitting together. Billy was there. And so was Curtis. Andrew and you were sitting next to each other. And there were some mutual friends who shared units with them. Them being Frank, Billy, Curtis and Andrew. After the dinner was over, the kids went up to their rooms. And the adults were having a little bit of thanksgiving drinks. Soon they started talking about the war stories. You get up and go out to get some fresh air.
In the backyard, leaning against the wall, you take out a cigarette from your purse and lit it up. You had just taken the second puff, when you hear footsteps. You try to hide the cigarette behind you, and peek in to see if its Andrew. Andrew didn’t like that you smoked. So you don’t smoke in front of him. So when you look inside, you see that it was just Billy who was coming outside.
“Oh, Billy. It’s you.”, you say in relief but in very low voice, and bring your cigarette back and take another puff.
“Yep. It’s me.”, Billy replies and comes and stands next to you. “So, are you enjoying the book?”, he asked.
“Oh, I have been meaning to ask you about that. Did YOU send me that book?”, you ask, finally relieved that he initiated this topic. You were not entirely sure if he was the one who sent it, as there was no sender's address on the package. But you did suspect that it might have been him. So you didn’t know how to bring this up in-front of him. It would be really embarrassing to thank him for the book, if he wasn’t the one who sent it.
“Yes, I did. You said that you loved it a lot. And that you get it from the library. So, I thought you might love to have your own copy of the book. And be able to read it whenever and where ever you would like”, he replied, looking into your eyes.
“But Billy, you didn’t have to. And also. It was a hardcover collector’s edition. It isn’t cheap.”, you tell him, with a concerned tone.
“It is a gift. You should not worry about that. I WANTED to give it to you. It made me happy. There aren’t a lot of people around me who share the passion for reading as much as I do.”, Billy said.
His voice sounded genuine. You didn’t want to sound ungrateful. And also, you really loved the gift too.
“Okay. I know what I am thankful for this Thanksgiving.”, you joked.
Billy chuckled.
“But, seriously. Thank you, Billy. I really loved it.”, you look at Billy and smile, finally thanking him for the book. His eyes softened to see the glint of happiness in your eyes. That was all he wanted to see.
“So, who were you hiding that from? Your brother?”, he asked looking at the cigarette in between your fingers.
“Yeah. He hates it when I smoke.”, you reply.
“Why do you still smoke if he hates it?”, he looks at you and asks.
You feel his eyes on you. It makes you feel conscious. When you look at him, you see that he is still looking at you, waiting for an answer. And you see concern in his eyes. You were not expecting anyone to ever look at you in that way, especially Billy. It was making you feel things.
You look away, take another puff of the cigarette and finally reply, “I know, he has gone through a lot. So I don’t ask much of him. But sometimes it gets really stressful to manage everything on my own. And I know he is trying his best. But it’s just. You know how he is. And how much Curtis had to deal with, just so he will stick to his job. He needs to be a little more responsible. He only thinks about now. He never plans, or thinks about saving money. And the words long-term, apparently doesn't exist in his dictionary. That’s not how life works. But he doesn’t understand that.”
Billy stands there listening to you. You were about to say the next line, but thinking about it makes you choke up a little.
So you take a breath, and then continue, “I am the younger sibling. He is supposed to take care of me. He should be the one teaching me how the world works. Not the other way around.”
Billy comes a little closer to you. The closeness makes your heart skip a beat. You look at his eyes. You are so aware of the closeness between you two. You wonder if he knows how close he is, and what he is making you feel. You feel your heart beat faster now. You can actually feel it. Now you are afraid that he might hear it beating so loud. And it would be so embarrassing.
Billy leans in towards you and says softly, “You know, if you would like, there are other ways to release the stress. And blow off some steam.”
You get tensed. Is he suggesting what you are thinking? Your eyes shine thinking about it. You never thought that Billy would ever suggest this to you. You never thought you were his type. But then, he did send you a copy of your favorite book. I mean, why would he send that if he didn’t feel anything for you. And then suddenly it hits you that he might be just looking for a hook-up. His never hides his reputation as a fuckboy. You suddenly feel confused about Billy’s intentions.
So you ask, “What do you mean?”
“Would you like to train?”, Billy offered.
“Train? In what?”, you ask. All confused. The closeness between you is clearly not helping you think rationally.
Billy smiles a little, and replies, “In combat.”
“Like, the ones you do at ANVIL?”, you ask.
“Yeah. Well, not in that level. But we’ll see what we can do with you.”, Billy replies with a smirk.
“I have never trained in my life. Ever. In anything related to, you know, fighting.”, you tell him.
“That won’t be a problem. When do you usually get up in the morning?”, he asks.
“At around 7 AM. I have to get to work by 8.”, you reply.
“Okay, so you can come to ANVIL at, let’s say around, 6? We can train for an hour.”, Billy suggests.
“Wait, do you guys open that early?”, you ask.
Billy smirks, “No, we don’t. But I’m the owner. So I have my privileges. So, what do you say? Is that a date?”
You blush at the mention of that word. But manage to shrug it off, and reply with a nod, “It’s a date.”
“Good. I’ll see you on Monday then. At 6.”, Billy straightens up, takes the cigarette from your fingers, takes a long puff and gives it back to you and goes inside.
You try to process everything that just happened. You cannot believe that Billy made plans for you guys to hang out. All by himself. You didn’t even had to try. You have been having your little crush on him for a long time now. But you never heeded it before. Because you knew he was way out of your league. And now, it seems like everything was falling in place. It felt surreal. You smile to yourself as you take the last puff off your cigarette.
You were so engrossed in your thoughts that you didn’t hear Andrew coming outside.
“What the hell Y/N. You are smoking again?” Andrew yelled, as he saw smoke coming out of your mouth.

BillyRusso x Reader – Part-4 The Date.
#nosmut #fluff
(Since the other parts are part of #nosmutweek, keeping this smut-free as well.)
You can find the other parts in this masterlist.
Tumblr media
It’s Friday night. It’s finally your date night. With Billy Russo. You come out of the shower and stare at the red dress you have picked out and laid on the bed. You let out a sigh. This is it. Finally, your first date with him.
You put on light makeup and blow dry your hair. And then you put on the red dress. You wonder if it is too much for a first date? You start having second thoughts. But this dress is really cute. You go in-front of the mirror. You are happy with your reflection on the mirror. You can’t help but smile back at yourself. You look perfect. You take out your black heels and get into them. And wear a black leather jacket over the dress to keep you warm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You start wondering about how the date would go. That’s when you hear Andrew shouting your name from the living room.
“Y/N. I am heading out. So don’t wait for me for dinn..er ... Woah!”
You entered the living room when Andrew called your name. He didn’t know that you are going out too. Especially not looking this fine.
“Where are you headed?”, he asks.
“I am going out for drinks, Andrew. So I guess we both will be having dinner outside then.”, you reply.
“Going out for drinks? Are you going on a date?”, he asks.
You take a second before answering his question. You haven’t told him yet that you are dating Billy. It hasn’t been even a week since your first day at Anvil and Billy asked you out. And you haven’t got a chance to tell this to him.
“Umm. Kinda.”, you try to make it sound casual.
“With whom?”, he asks with intrigue.
“It’s nothing much Andrew. I am just going out for drinks.”, you try to think of ways in which you can tell him it’s Billy. Billy has a reputation of a playboy. So it won’t be easy to tell Andrew that you are going out with Billy. But Billy will be coming soon to pick you up. So, it was time you told Andrew about him.
You take a deep breath. “Andrew. Please don’t freak out. I am going out with Billy.”, you say, praying that Andrew won’t get mad.
“Billy? Billy Russo?”, Andrew asks.
“Yes. But it’s not what you think. I swear.”, you try to convince him that you guys are not just hooking up for a night. But from Andrews voice, you know it’s not going to be easy to convince him.
“Are you kidding me?”, he replied in disbelief.
“We started dating.”, you state.
“Dating? Billy Russo is dating?”, he scoffs.
You hear the sound of a car pulling up in-front of your house. You both look towards the closed door at the sound of the car halting, and then look back at each other.
“This might be Billy. Andrew, please be chill when you see him. Please. It’s important to me. Please?”, you request him to behave.
Andrew scoffs at your words. But doesn’t say anything.
And then you hear the doorbell ring.
You start to move towards the door, but Andrew cuts you.
“I’ll get it.”, he said as he walked towards the door.
“Andrew. Hi.”, Billy said when he saw that it was Andrew who opened the door.
“Hi Billy. What’s up?”, Andrew replied in a calm tone.
Your heart starts beating faster. You hope that their interaction goes smoothly.
“I came here to pick your sister for a date.”, Billy replied.
Ugh. His voice melts your heart. How can he sound so relaxed and confident when he is talking to the brother of the girl he is picking up for the date?
“Yeah, I heard that.”, Andrew replied in a cold tone.
You feel you should go to the door before they start shooting daggers through their eyes. You walk to the door quickly.
“Hey Billy. You are here. I am ready. Shall we?”, you try to sound casual and hope neither of them catches the nervousness in your tone.
Billy looks at you and locks eyes for two seconds. You feel tension building up between you two.
He broke the tension and gave you the bouquet he had brought.
“For you.”, he said while giving you the bouquet.
“They are so pretty. Thank you Billy. I’ll go put them in water.”, you take the bouquet and go to your kitchen to find something where you can put them.
Andrew took this opportunity and said, “Billy. I hope you aren’t messing around with her. Cause if you are, it won’t end well.”
Billy smiled. He didn’t smirk. It was a genuine smile. A reassuring smile. And replied, “I am not Andrew. I don’t intend to hurt her in any way.”
You return after putting the bouquet in water. Billy saw you coming.
Billy added, “And anyway. She is getting better at training. She is a fast-learner, I’ll tell you that. So, even if I, unintentionally, make her sad, she can kick my ass on behalf of both of you.”, he chuckled.
That finally made Andrew smile. You finally felt a little relieved.
“She’s that good huh? Well, you’re right. She is indeed a fast-learner.”, Andrew said with a proud smile.
“So, shall we?”, Billy asks you.
“Yeah, sure”, you reply to Billy and look at Andrew with a smile and say, “Bye Andrew.”
“Bye”, Andrew replied and returned the smile. “Enjoy.”
You nod at him and go with Billy to his car.
You were going to open the door, but before you could do that, Billy came forward and opened it for you.
You look at him with a smile, “Thank you.”
“I am nothing if not traditional.”, Billy replied. “You look beautiful by the way”, he added, but in a softer voice.
You blush at his compliment. The softer tone made you feel things in your body. And it was just the beginning of your date.
“And you look really hot”, you replied.
That made him laugh. Ugh, that infectious laugh.
You get inside the car. Billy closes the door and then walks towards the other side of the car. He gets inside and starts the ignition and then drives towards whatever place that he is taking you to. You still don’t know where he is taking you.
“So, where are we going?”, you ask curiously.
“Somewhere fancy.”, he replied. And he turned on the music.
You observe that the volume of the song is a little low. Currently it was playing Beyonce’s Love on Top. You thought it was cute of him to play that. And then you heard him humming to the tunes. You turn your head towards him. He looks happy. That look made you smile. You keep looking at him while he slowly started singing the words of the song. This guy even sang like an angel. Is there something on this earth that he couldn’t do. You start wondering how did you ended up going on a date with him.
Your train of thoughts is interrupted when you see Billy taking a moment to look at you when he sang the word “finally” and saw that you are enjoying the song, and then returned his eyes back on the road.
Tumblr media
The car finally comes to a stop in front of a very fancy restaurant.
You scoff, “You weren’t kidding. You actually brought us to a fancy place.”
Billy smiled and got out of the car quickly and came in-front of your door to open it.
“You don’t have to really. But thank you.”, you tell him.
He smiles at you. After you got out, he waves at the valet and hands him the keys to his car. Then he leads you to the restaurant.
When you enter, the receptionist greets you both. Billy tells them that he has a reservation under his name. The receptionist looks into their record and nods and guides you both to your table.
After you sit down, you glance around. Everything around looks really fancy. You have never been to a fancy place like this. You become too cautious of your every action. You don’t want to do or say something which is not appropriate in a fancy place like this. You take a deep breath and try to calm your nerves.
Billy notices that you are tensing up.
“Are you alright? You look uncomfortable.”, he asks with concern.
“Yea. I am alright. It’s just that, I have never been to a place like this before. So, I don’t wanna embarrass anyone by doing or saying something stupid.”, you reply.
“Is it too much? We can leave if you want to.”, Billy asks.
“No, no. I am alright. I am with you. That’s all that matters. Anyway. What are we drinking?”, you ask.
Billy chuckles. “I already ordered Cabernet Sauvignon. And you can order something to eat with it from the menu.”
You take the menu and start browsing. You furrow your eyebrows a little when you see all those fancy names on the menu.
“I don’t know what half of the items listed here are.”, you turn the menu to the last page. The dessert section. Your eyes sparkle when you see your favourite dessert listed on the menu.
“I’ll have a Sizzling chocolate brownie with Vanilla ice-cream.”, you said.
“A sizzling brownie? You’re ordering a dessert first?”, Billy looks puzzled.
“Oh. Yeah. You don’t know, right. Here’s a fun-fact. Usually I order the dessert before the actual meal.”, you reply.
Billy flashes a smile, “That’s. Fascinating.”.
“It’s too much pressure on me, when I have to mentally calculate if I will have enough stomach left to enjoy the dessert when I eat the main course first. But if I eat the dessert before the meal, I don’t have to worry about that.”, you explain. “Plus. You never know what is gonna happen to us in the next moment. What if? I ate my meal, and I am waiting for my dessert. And an asteroid hit us before I can have my dessert. Can you imagine that situation? It gives me chills.”
Billy laughs at your point. “Well, it was indeed a very fun-fact.”
He scrolls through the menu to order a starter to go along the wine.
“For an appetizer, what would you like? Something like crostini, cheese plate or sushi? Or maybe pasta?”
“Crostini sounds good.”, you reply.
Billy waves at the waiter and places the order.
You both chat a little while you wait for the food.
They serve the dessert before serving the appetizer. You both share it.
“I will admit. It feels great to have the dessert first.”, Billy said. And you can hear from his tone that he is enjoying it.
“Right? I mean, I know we should be patient to get to the good parts. But sometimes, why not give in to your pleasure. We don’t always have to follow the rules.”, you say and take another bite of the brownie.
Billy looks at you and smiles, watching you indulge in your “pleasure”.
As you guys were almost done with the dessert, the waiter comes in with the appetizer. You move some plates around, trying to make space for the appetizer. Billy notices that, and looks at the waiter and utters a “thank you”. He opens the bottle of red wine that the waiter had placed earlier, and pours the drink for you both.
You guys chat a little, making small talk and eating the appetizer.
When you are done with the appetizer, Billy waves at the waiter and asks him for the check.
When the waiter leaves, you ask him, “Are we leaving?”
“Let’s go somewhere else.”, he replied with a smile.
You both then get up and leave.
When you both come out, the valet walks towards you and asks if he’ll bring out the car.
“Not now. We’ll be back in some time.”, Billy told the valet and takes your hand and leads you towards the sidewalk.
“Where are we going?”, you ask.
“Just walking. I wanted to spend some time with you.”, Billy replied.
“Okay”, you reply with a smile and move a little closer to him and put your head on his shoulder while you both walked with your hands intertwined in each other.
“Are you enjoying the night?”, he asked.
You raise your head a little to look into his eyes, “I am with you. Of course I am enjoying it.”
Billy stops. And tilts his body towards you and with his free hand holds your head and plants a kiss on your lips. You let go of your hand and wrap both your arms around his waist and return the kiss. He uses his now free hand and holds the back of your neck. After a long kiss, he moves his head back a little to get a good look of your face. You both giggle at each other when you lock eyes.
“I can’t believe I am kissing Billy Russo.”, you say as you tighten your arms around him.
Billy tucked a strand of hair behind your ears. It makes you blush.
“Do you remember the first time we met?”, Billy looks deep into your eyes and asks.
“At the bar?”, you ask. You didn’t think he would remember that meeting.
“Yes. When you came looking for Andrew.”, he confirmed.
“You remember that day?”, you are surprised that he remembered that day.
“Of course I do. It was the first time I laid my eyes on you.”, he gently stroked his finger across your jaw.
You feel a little giddy.
“And the first time I bought a drink for you.”, he said.
“Yes you did. And you also bought a round for everybody on the table too.”, you reply.
“Why do you think I did that?”, he smirked.
“You bought drinks for everybody, just so you can buy me a drink?”, you ask with wide eyes. You drop your hands which were wrapped around his waist.
“I did.”, he chuckled.
You look away and tuck your hair on the other side behind your ears. You can feel your cheeks and ears warming up hearing this. You can’t stop smiling.
You look back at him and say, “I did not know that. I remember Andrew introducing us. Honestly, the first thought I had when I saw you was how hot you looked. But I was so mad at Andrew at that time, because he forgot to pay the electricity bill, that I did not want to go soft on my mood. And you were making it so difficult for me to stay mad. I don’t know if you know this, but I was trying to avoid talking to you that night.”
Billy smiled, “I know. I noticed that. I also noticed the look on your face when you first looked at me. And since that moment I have been wanting to take you out on a date. And finally, here we are.”
“Billy.”, you stop smiling when you heard him say that. You did not know that he has been feeling the same thing that you have, since the day you met him. You put your arm around his neck and pull him closer to you and kiss him passionately. He kisses you back and wraps his arms around you in a tight hug.
Finally, Billy ends the kiss and asks, “Are you hungry?”
“Not much. But I can eat.”, you reply.
“Would you like to try my culinary skills?”, he asks.
“You are going to cook?”, you ask.
“Yes. If you wanna try.”, he said.
“I would love to. But are you sure? I don’t wanna trouble you.”, you reply.
Billy broke free from the hug, and takes your hand and starts walking back. “Let’s go.”, he said.
You follow him. When you reach the restaurant, Billy signals the valet to bring his car. When he brings his car, Billy opens the door for you. You get inside. And then he gets in the driver’s seat and rides back home.
He played the music, and you get drowned daydreaming about the things you would do after you reach his house. The tingling feeling inside you keeps growing. You are still processing that Billy had his eyes on you since the day you both met. At the time, because of Billy’s reputation, you never thought that you’ll see a day when Billy would want to date you. Sitting here in his car and listening to the music, you realise there is more to him than what he shows to the world. You knew he was an excellent friend. But when it came to the matters of heart, you thought he won’t be the kind of person who would want to put much efforts. But looking at him, knowing that he offered to cook for you, something which required some effort, made you smile.
Billy glanced at you, and flashed his perfect smile. He looks back at the road. He took your hand and interlocks his fingers with yours, while he steered the wheels perfectly without any effort with his other hand.
