5/23/2022.
for the first time in about 3 or so months, i woke up on a monday without the slightest bit of anxiety. sure, i woke up before the sun could shine through my window but i woke up because my body felt rested and not because of a sequence of alarms. i scrolled on my phone for 30 minutes then i went to the kitchen (petting my oldest cat along the way) and made a pot of coffee. i washed my face and brushed my teeth and it didn't feel like a chore. i did those things so that i could prepare to start my day.
what's on the agenda for today, you ask?
writing, napping, vidjee games, cat petting and more writing.
today was supposed to be my last day at my job but i quit yesterday instead. i decided, just as they decided that i didn't deserve my final paychecks, that they didn't deserve my final day.
my employer taught me lots of things. one of the main things "good, professional behavior is not respected".
my job advertised 80 hours of vacation at the start of the year, to even newcomers like me. what they didn't explain, was the fine print: if you do not work to earn back each hour that you've used, when your employment with us ends, you must pay us the difference.
back in march/april i used a week (40hrs) of vacation. i started there in december and here i am leaving at the end of may. i only earned roughly 26 hours. so, without so much as a warning, they deducted roughly 14 hours from my most recent paycheck to get their money back.
essentially, they didn't give 80hrs of vacation-- they LOANED 80hrs of vacation.
i checked the handbook after i figured it out (because it wasn't explained to me) and lo and behold- it was there, at the very back of the handbook.... they got us all with their fine print. so i can't even dispute it.
the bastards.
but that my friends ain't even the real kicker. you wanna hear some REAL fuck shit?
i learned on saturday from my boss who had been investigating the whole thing for me (3 fucking days and no one, not even corporate payroll knew what vacation (r) meant-- i smell bullshit but wtvs)
the REAL kick in the tit:
had i quit without notice, just stopped coming in, not telling anyone anything- i'd have still gotten every fucking cent that i worked in the sweltering, humid ass southern heat for.
I TRIED TO BE A PROFESSIONAL AND I WAS FUCKING PUNISHED FOR IT.
i anxiously dealt with nearly six months of the most toxic, dingy, hostile ass work environment that i've ever experienced just to turn around and get screwed over in the end.
here's a list of other bullshit i had to deal with 5 days a week:
-aggressive sexual harassment by vendors and employees (one of a handful of women in a male dominated workplace)
-a coworker who is ten years my senior who never learned to not bring her personal life to work with her, who was insanely rude to strangers 8 hours a day (or shit talking them in my ear) so i felt the need to overcompensate with kindness to make up for her shitty behavior, who walked in slamming and throwing shit at 6am, who was in a one sided competition with me over men who made me uncomfortable, who would insist on sitting in the shack with me (imagine a shoe box with two people and computers) while playing videos, watching movies with vulgar sex scenes and listening to music on the highest possible volume, who got mad when i asked her to turn it down, who made me miss lunch on multiple occasions because she "got busy" (read: fell asleep in the patrol car), who tried to turn people against me once i finally started to stand up for myself after 4 months of tolerating her shit.
-an incompetent boss who is twelve years my senior who is too concerned with trying to be a friend of the world rather than keeping his employees in check, who when told about the behavior of the person above, would make excuses and say shit like "well, i've worked a whole 12hrs by myself without a lunch too", who (as a black man) told me (a black woman) that my coworker (a black woman) and i should physically fight about our differences instead of simply ceasing unnecessary communication with her, who never knew when to stop joking around, who threw hints rather than telling me directly when i was doing something wrong which hindered me from doing my job properly, who told me that getting sexually harassed "was a part of the job", who would laugh when i told him about the filthy things men 20+ years older than me would say and excuse them because they were "on the road for so long and probably frustrated"
-no hot water to wash my hands with on low temp days
-no cold water to drink on high temp days
-an a/c unit that picked and chose when it wanted to work
all on an hourly pay that was reduced by an dollar and some change, lower than what was the posted minimum because i "didn't have the experience"
i dealt with all of that for NEARLY six months and though i was at my limit and physically couldn't handle going in in the morning, i still showed up and tried to work through a two weeks notice just for them to take even more from me. btw they'd been fucking up my checks for two weeks even prior to this. :)
you always hear people say to leave jobs "the right way" because you'll never know when you'll need to go back. "don't burn bridges" they say but what about when jobs don't let you leave the right way? what about when jobs burn the bridges? what old saying gets thrown back in their face?
these companies don't give a fuck about us. why should any of us give a fuck about them? these companies have been doing things the 'old way' for so long and many of them are hurting because younger generations are starting to see through the bullshit. why the fuck did i give two weeks notice to a company that didn't even have the decency to give me two weeks notice that they would be taking my money from me?
if i can go the rest of my life without ever working for them again, i'll be fine. i've never left a job with such a sour taste in my mouth. i will never go back.

WHEN: 23 May 2022 WHERE: Theater District, some posh apartment building  WHO: @eliasvelari AVAILABILITY: Closed
God Alexander loathed a house party. There was nothing about the concept of it which bothered him really. In fact, Alexander loved to nose about other people’s homes, found the comfort of a house party and the leniency supremely better than that of any club night out, and especially in the Theater District where the performances lead into afterparties the quality of conversation was incomparable in his opinion.
No, what Alexander loathed about a house party—or in this case a loft party if you wanted to get technical—was that he was not allowed in. Not until welcomed in anyway. And unlike at a club, which always stocked a bouncer out front to usher any vampires in, finding the host for a personal invitation across the threshold was a humiliating nightmare and often a long endeavor at a gathering such as this. Technically Alexander had forever to wait, but he was impatient anyway and nothing could torture his soul more than being stuck outside alone whilst everyone else had fun inside.
Tonight, it had taken twenty-three minutes, which was twenty-two minutes longer than his patience typically ran. However, all of that annoyance melted away into charm once he was inside, already soothed by the wildness of the room. It was decadent and brimming with well dressed actors and patrons of the arts. His nose pulled toward the scent of blood quite near him, and unintentionally he found himself locked in a staring contest across the room with a human. He needed someone to talk to and it would have been rude to meet eyes and do nothing, so Alexander was quick in crossing the room. “Hello,” he said through a smile. “Elias, is it not?” It was not that big of an island, and smaller still for those of unhealthy wealth. “Alexander.” He slid a hand between them and did not glance down at it to wonder if it would be taken.

If Drageset’s verbal commitment is finalized, it will result in a male seizing one of just twelve D1 scholarships intended for women’s volleyball at the University of Washington. The twelve scholarships are often spread out over the course of four years, with as few as two to three being offered per year."
He's OK with taking a full scholarship ment for a woman and women who object are told to "be kind". Kindness goes both ways, as in not taking scholarships and opportunities ment for others.
By Anna Slatz December 13, 2023
Reduxx has learned that a volleyball player from California is reportedly set to become the first known male recipient of a women’s Division 1 (D1) athletic scholarship. Tate Drageset, 17, has verbally committed to the University of Washington, and, if the offer is signed next fall, he would be seizing one of only twelve D1 volleyball scholarships available for females at the University.
The announcement of Drageset’s verbal commitment to the University of Washington was made in June to much fanfare within the volleyball community, with multiple sporting magazines and social media accounts covering the verbal commitment.
Drageset has long been considered a rising star within women’s volleyball, and he was the dominant force on two USA Volleyball teams in two separate age groups that both claimed national titles last summer. He was also named an MVP at the Girls Junior National Championships earlier this year. In addition to his club volleyball accolades, he was awarded the title of the California Interscholastic Federation’s Division 5 Player of the 2022-23 Year.
Tumblr media
But Drageset’s transgender status has reportedly been concealed from public knowledge, with coaches, parents, and opposing players being left uninformed of his biological sex ahead of games.
Now, for the first time, a source close to the situation has anonymously come forward to reveal concerns about the steady escalation of Drageset’s participation in women’s volleyball, something which has now resulted in him preparing to take a rare, all-expenses-paid athletic scholarship opportunity
If Drageset’s verbal commitment is finalized, it will result in a male seizing one of just twelve D1 scholarships intended for women’s volleyball at the University of Washington. The twelve scholarships are often spread out over the course of four years, with as few as two to three being offered per year.

The source, who is the parent of a minor player within the Southern California Volleyball Association (SCVA) community, said suspicions were raised years ago when Drageset’s performance far surpassed that of his teammates. At the time, Drageset was 12-years-old but was playing against 14-year-old females in one effort to make up for his obvious advantages.
“You could tell even back then that he was different from the girls,” the parent says. “As he got older, it became more obvious that something was off. Anytime the subject of [Drageset] would come up EVERY PARENT from any SCVA team already knew about him. Parents look around before they speak in hushed tones. Some will wait to discuss until outside the gym.”
The parent revealed that most families have been hesitant to speak out due to fears that their daughters will be penalized.
“Everyone is scared of how their child will be treated if they speak up. It’s already so competitive to get on a good club team,” the parent said. “The stealing of positions and opportunities has been infuriating and so sad when you see how it affects the girls. There is no concern for their mental health or safety after being replaced.”
Speaking to Reduxx, representatives from the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) noted that a number of local families have become aware of Drageset’s participation in women’s volleyball, but that there had been silence from his family, who appears to be actively obscuring his status.
“We know many of the girls he’s playing against do not know that they are competing against a male. There has been no consideration from his family to tell female athletes or coaches the truth. They have not been transparent, so girls are repeatedly and unknowingly put at a disadvantage and not given the chance to opt out over increased safety risks,” Marshi Smith said.
Her colleague, Kim Jones, added: “We also know that many local families do know and they are angry that their daughters are continuously put in a position to lose to a male player in girls’ sports. They recognize it is unfair and potentially unsafe as more instances of concussion injuries inflicted by male athletes arise.”
ICONS, a non-partisan campaign group, was launched in 2021 to address the issue of male self-identification into women’s sport, with co-founders Smith and Jones both being former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) athletes. Jones’ daughter was also one of the female swimmers forced to compete against transgender athlete Lia Thomas.
While Drageset’s transgender status appears to have been carefully concealed by his family in recent years, his mother, Stacey Drageset, reportedly commissioned a short film to be made about Tate in 2016. Titled “Trans-mission.love,” the documentary-style film was produced when Drageset was 12-years-old. While his face is not shown in the film, Drageset can be seen holding a volleyball with his first name on it, and playing volleyball on the beach in sections from the trailer.
Around the same time, Drageset’s mother took his story to the Los Angeles Times, where she revealed that she became convinced her son was transgender due to his preference for “feminine” clothing and colors as a toddler. In the article, Drageset’s parents state that they showed him an interview with Jazz Jennings at age 6 and felt their son “related” to Jennings.
Curiously, the year before Drageset’s family began touting his journey as a “trans kid,” his mother published a children’s picture book on gender identity, one which was recently named in during inquiry into age-appropriate books in Texas schools.
While identifying as a “girl,” Drageset’s athletic performance has been far and above that of his female colleagues and competitors. Earlier this year, he took home a silver medal and $2,000 prize while competing against mature professional female volleyball players at the Teqvoly World Tour.
When compared to same-height female athletes within his volleyball club, Drageset’s standing reach, vertical jump, and other key physical metrics are all more favorable, something ICONS says is unsurprising even if Drageset had been placed on “puberty blockers” at a young age.
“No male is ever going to go through female development. Their bodies are not comparable in thousands of ways. Puberty blockers do not remove predicted adult height and males have a 5 or 6 inch advantage that influences athletic performance particularly in sports like volleyball,” Kim Jones said, pointing to a literature review completed by Drs. Gregory Brown and Tommy Lundberg.
The review, released earlier this year, stated that “the current evidence suggests that male children retain sex-based advantages in body height and lean body mass which may allow for retained male athletic advantages” even when placed on hormones or puberty blockers at an early age.
Jones also points to the fact that the net in women’s volleyball is set over 7 inches lower than in men’s, not just because men on average are six inches taller, but because the male vertical jump is at least 20% higher than that of a woman of the same height.
The ICONS representatives place much of the blame on the NCAA, the governing body which regulates collegiate athletics in the United States. Following the Lia Thomas controversy in 2022, the NCAA attempted to clarify its position on transgender athletes, but just sowed more confusion amongst critics.
“Right now, the NCAA guidelines and the upcoming Biden Administration’s Title IX reinterpretations incentivize male athletes and their families to hide their sex from women and girls,” Marshi Smith says, noting that the NCAA largely does not question any athlete’s biological sex, or allow for such interrogations to occur under “discrimination” policies. She likens it to “showing someone a pile of treasure” and then leaving it unguarded, as the NCAA provides substantial financial and professional incentives for athletes.
“We’re facing a situation where women aren’t even allowed to know if they’re putting themselves at increased safety risk. It’s as if men are allowed to do what they want to women so long as they can get away with it. The message to teams across the country is that if men excel at deception or if the NCAA effectively silences women, men are allowed to compromise women’s safety, dignity, and privacy.”
Smith adds: “The only solution to provide women with fair and safe sport is to have a female-protected category with no exceptions.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article mistakenly attributed a study on trans-identified male participation in women’s sport to Byron Wolter of the Center on Sport Policy and Conduct. Mr. Wolter provided editing, but the article was written by Dr. Gregory Brown of the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Dr. Tommy Lundberg of the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. The article has been updated to reflect the correction.

The Williams driver says the FIA's decision to prohibit "personal, religious and political statements" without written consent is "confusing.
We need clarity from the FIA on what they are trying to tell us," he said.
"It is hard to see as drivers what they are trying to say. We need to be able to speak freely to a certain extent."
Albon, speaking at Williams' 2023 season launch event where a new livery and title sponsor were unveiled, said the impression was that governing body the FIA was "trying to go away from" the pro-diversity 'We Race As One' campaign F1 as a sport had promoted since 2020.
"Politics and stances - it is a very sensitive area," the Britain-born Thai said. "We were very much for We Race As One. We need clarity and I am sure we are going to get clarity.
"With who we are, and the media, and the engagement we have to our fans and the people who watch, a lot of people look to us as spokespeople for issues around the world and I do feel it is a responsibility for drivers to make people aware of these situations."
Albon said the subject of freedom of speech had been discussed between the drivers but "not too much".
He referenced the concerns that have emerged in F1 around the conduct of the FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem on a number of issues in the past year.

Ash wearing the blue sapphire version of the Lashton ring during the ig live tonight
Adorable Ash working hard to sign the piles of inserts for fans while chillin to 5sos5 with us. Wearing the ring at home is so LOUD. This ring is meaningful to him. I'm really thinking the 5 year anniversary theory may just as well be true. 😊
When Take My Hand (Joshua Tree Version) ends, Ash does a soft grunt noise, then says "Awesome song, Well done Hemmotron, Banger"
Ash saying little remarks every now and then. He was harmonizing with every track and doing air drums, singing, dancing in his chair, being the ball of sunshine that he is.
