Yeah, let’s talk about this cus I’m still having to deal with this when it comes to my hair. My hair is 4A-4B, and there is nothing more frustrating than trying to find a hairstyle tutorial video and there’s nobody with your curl pattern. It’s just loose textured girls and women( cus let’s be honest, it’s mainly the non black and biracials girlies doing this) popping up in the search results.

Then they have the nerve to get upset when we say that having wavy hair doesn’t mean you can be in OUR natural hair community and start calling us the Curl Police because we dared to exclude the non black girls from OUR OWN MOVEMENT!

Lets get right into it! To be completely honest, I don't really know my hair type. When I first started wearing my natural hair out, I thought I was in the 4c category. However, I have been told my hair is mainly 4b maybe even 4a. After much research, I’ve come to the conclusion that my hair is a mixture of 4a and 4b but mostly 4a. My hair curls in a spiral and is definitely prone to shrinkage. With that being said, the roots to the beginning of the shaft is where I notice my 4b hair. There is less of a curl pattern & it also has that cotton feel to it.

I try to wash my hair once a week along with moisturizing my hair every 2 days throughout that week. ( I will do a more detailed wash day post! ) I’ve noticed tremendous growth over the past year with me keeping a solid routine. It is hard to keep up with it but it also becomes second nature once you realize how well it helps your hair!

This year I’ve also taken the time to focus on my mental and physical health by working on what I put in my body and getting out more. Whether that’s going to (or hosting!) events or actively going to the gym to work on my gains 💪😏.

And this is what’s sparked my change to focus more on health and fitness, instead of just hair. It’s taken me a few years to get to this fitness level, and I still have a lot more learning and growth to do!
