Hellooooo, Sine! How are you? Been meaning to ask if you've seen Black Panther Wakanda Forever and what are thoughts on MCU Namor? :D
Alas, I have not seen it.
We were going to go see it for my wife's birthday last week but then the weather ended up being terrible, so we stayed home and watched Glass Onion instead (A+, would recommend), and in the intervening week I have basically been having a series of unpleasant migraines and going to the movies did not sound like any fun at all. So I am probably going to end up seeing it whenever it hits Disney+.
I have also not resumed almost any of my pre-pandemic social activities, so the only film I have seen in theaters in the past two years was the 40th anniversary screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan a couple months ago because I wasn't going to miss that and also there was basically nobody in the theater anyway. (My wife: "You want to pay money to watch Spock die on the big screen?" Me: "Yes! I want to pay money to watch Spock die on the big screen!")
I am looking forward to seeing Wakanda Forever, though! The first one was one of my favorite MCU films, and I like Namor.
(Also, I appreciate that MCU films mean that Marvel releases collected editions of relevant comics because now I finally own The Invaders in hardcover -- yes, I got the Namor cover, LOL -- which has been on my wishlist for years after I missed out on the Complete Collections, as well as the first half of Priest's BP run which everyone says is the best one and I have not yet met a 1998/Vol 3 Marvel run I did not like, so.)

“Khan, you bloodsucker! You're going to have to do your own dirty work now! Do you hear me? Do you?” “Kirk? Kirk, you're still alive, my old friend?” “Still, "old friend"! You've managed to kill just about everyone else, but like a poor marksman, you keep missing the target!” “Perhaps I no longer need to try, Admiral.”
[Khan beams the Genesis device away]
“Oh, no! Let go! He can't take it...! “
“Khan... Khan, you've got Genesis, but you don't have me. You were going to kill me, Khan. You're going to have to come down here. You're going to have to come down here” “I've done far worse than kill you. I've hurt you. And I wish to go on hurting you. I shall leave you as you left me, as you left her; marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet... buried alive! Buried alive...! “
“KHAAANNNN!”
[echo]
“KHAAANNNN! “
Happy 40th Anniversary to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

I went to see Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan in the cinema today, for it's 40th anniversary, and it was such a great experience.
Seeing older couples come in, and wondering if they'd seen the original release together. Couple of dads with their kids. A few people my age who were too young/non-existent to have seen it 40 years ago.
It was such a beautiful example of how Star Trek spans generations.
And the movie itself still holds up so well.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (poster artwork by Bob Peak)
It's the 40th anniversary of this glorious film! This jewel in the crown that is Star Trek!
I want to say I remember seeing this in the theater, but that can't be true, I would've been 4, but it is laser-etched on my memory like it's always existed. My uncle, he's a huge Star Trek fan, it's all we really have in common, we see all the movies together, I think he voted for Trump, but here, here we are aligned.
Some folks online say Star Trek VI is better...those people are fools or communist agitators. They are not to be trusted.
I made friends in college by taking people over to my house from the dorms and showing them this film. 20 years later, still got those friends.
IT'S ALL JUST SO GOOD, my god, what a movie.

Conan the Barbarian 40th Anniversary Fathom Event
Conan the Barbarian 40th Anniversary Fathom Event
I remember the first time I saw “Conan the Barbarian” in a theater. It was opening weekend in May, 1982, and it was at the Edwards tri-plex in Monterey Park. While we were there to see “Conan”, one of the reasons I remember the event so well is that there were promotion postcard posters for “Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan” available at the theater, and I was quite excited about that movie. 40…

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - 40th ANNIVERSARY 2XLP drops Wednesday
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - 40th ANNIVERSARY 2XLP drops Wednesday #music #mondo
The summer of 1982 saw the release of some of the most culture-defining films of our lifetime (STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, POLTERGEIST, TRON, CONAN THE BARBARIAN, THE THING, THE ROAD WARRIOR … just to name a few!) But few have had nearly the same impact on film music as the legendary sixth collaboration between Steven Spielberg and John Williams: E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL. Mondo, along…

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Original Theatrical Release of STAR TREK II   The Wrath of Khan
                                               June  4   1982
Part  4 :  promotional art (one-sheets) and photos
1  teaser promo poster-style art with original approved title (Paramount relented to George Lucas’ request for a title change not wanting any confusion with his own upcoming “Revenge of the Jedi”; Paramount was now in the George Lucas business with his Industrial Light and Magic delivering the optical effects for STAR TREK II as well as his creation of Indiana Jones -- “Raiders of the Lost Ark” which Paramount distributed and were eager for a sequel)
2 - 4  art by the great commercial artist and illustrator Robert Peak developing ideas for the theatrical one-sheet for the Wrath of Khan; Mr. Peak, whose art for film posters included amazing pieces for “Apocalypse Now” and “Excalibur,”  also provided the instantly iconic primary promotional art for STAR TREK  the Motion Picture
5  Mr. Peak’s final art for the STAR TREK II poster without credits and text
6  the final one-sheet; unfortunately, Paramount decided to use this fantastic painted illustration only for England and several other “foreign” territories
7  instead, Paramount went with an unimaginative, wholly pedestrian release poster for Khan’s domestic run (the U.S. and Canada)
8 - 12  additional foreign release posters

above:  cover for novelization written by Vonda MacIntyre   and   art for novelization by the great Boris Vallejo without text

above:  sleeve art and credits for the original soundtrack recording from Atlantic, composed and conducted by the late great James Horner (the score that, in many ways, vaulted him to potential importance among composers for film)

Thank you uwu
4. Is there a film that you love except for the ending? What would you change about the ending?
At the moment I can't think of any movie whose ending I don't like or hate. I know there's been at least one movie whose ending I didn't like
10. What was the last movie you watched in theaters? What did you think of it?
The 40th anniversary re-release of the director's cut of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I was grinning for over 95% of that movie

First to come to mind are My Fair Lady, Beauty and the Beast, and The Blues Brothers
19. What part of filmmaking do you find most interesting (ie. sound design, costuming, set design, etc)?

Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan 40th Anniversary TCM Fathom Events
Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan 40th Anniversary TCM Fathom Events
I did not remember writing about this film before, and that seemed strange to me because it is an old favorite. It turns out that it was not neglect on my part to cover the film, but rather my faulty memory, because I have a post up about this from a 35th Anniversary screening , so just five years ago. You can go there to read my comments on the film, I have not changed my opinion one iota, this…
