Kali Metals Expands Portfolio with Strategic Tenement Addition in Lachlan Fold Belt

Kali Metals (ASX: KM1) has expanded its portfolio and has acquired land for mining and extraction purposes in the Lachlan Fold Belt under the Jingellic Lithium Project located in the south of NSW (New South Wales). The company has acquired strategic and extraction rights to mine lithium. Along with that, there are significant expansions in other regions as well, as the company is pacing the process of attaining lithium. Let us know about all these developments in detail.

Kali Metals Acquires Mining Land

According to the announcement by Kali Metals on ASX dated March 7th, 2024, it was stated that the company has acquired a significant land share increasing the mining region of their Jingellic Lithium Project to 226 sq km. The Jingellic Lithium Project is in the north of Kali’s Lachlan Ford Belt Project. The announcement also closes a major Geological gap that previously existed when the company started mining the region but could not mine the recently acquired spot.

Kali Metals has also started its soil sampling program in its sweetwater prospect area which is adjacent to the giant Pegmatite. Rocks that had deposits of Lithium that came into use were taken out of the Pegmatite.

Kali Metals has entered into a binding agreement with Mining and Energy Group Pvt Ltd (MEG) to acquire tenement EL8958 for its Lachlan Fold Belt Project. On 3rd November 2023, Kali Metals provided a prospectus and an optional method that MEG could accept for the option payment of $225,000 in the form of scrips (allotted shares) which will be set at an optional date, the average price of the 30-day performance from a set optional date of the allotted shares shall be provided, that shall be the ownership module of shares.

Geological Advantages of Acquired Tenement

The recently acquired Tenement addresses a longstanding challenge in the extraction of Tri remains. As ongoing discoveries unfold, it aligns with the geological timeline of the region, shedding light on the historical metal procurement process, which has been previously unknown.

The company plans to expand more in other regions hoping to acquire more lands and properties that could provide favorable traces of Lithium and other metals. In the southwest of the Lachlan Fold Belt Project, the sweetwater spot that has been located reaffirms the existence of Pegmatite which acts as a perennial resource for the manufacturing of Lithium products once the extraction is complete. A 600-different soil sampling spacing 150 x 150 program has been underway to provide extensive detail about soil conditions and also the kind of metals it can have.

Kali Metals’s Managing Director as per the ASX announcement on 7th March 2024 said in a statement, Graeme Solan, “The addition of EL8958 is an important part of our exploration plans for the Jingellic Lithium Project. It not only links what were previously two separate tenement packages but provides an entirely new exploration front with a number of tin anomalies extending throughout the tenement. Tin is seen as a positive geological indicator for lithium.”

The acquisition adds another 226 sq. km to the Jingellic Lithium Project and will make exploration in the area more cost-efficient given the now contiguous nature of the combined tenements. At Sweetwater Station, results from our first-ever soil sampling program are eagerly awaited. The Sweetwater area contains what is colloquially known as the “Giant Pegmatite” which is targeted for follow-up work once approvals are in place. The results from the soils program are expected to be available during Q2 2024”.

More High-Grade Lithium in Higginsville

Along with the Lachlan Fold Belt Project, Kali Metals is doing a lot of extraction in other areas especially Spargoville and Widgiemooltha Projects in Higginsville Lithium District. On 13 February 2024, an ASX announcement was released mentioning the findings of lithium traces in soil and lithium embedded in rock chips in Higginsville.

Soil anomalies also tended in a different direction suggesting there is a possibility of more mineralization in the soil indicating more minerals apart from Lithium. The announcement also stated the positives of doing geochemical testing in the region to accumulate traces of different minerals. There will be drilling starting at Spargoville Project in 1st half of 2024 to expand the contours of assessment. There are at least 20,000 geochemical soil samples available in the Higginsville Lithium Project.

Kali Metals’s IPO on Positive Trend

Kali Metals’s IPO was listed on the market on Wednesday, 6th March 2024. The company aimed to raise $12 to $15 million, which was oversubscribed within 20 minutes, as reported by the Australian Financial Review.

Kali Metals’s Managing Director Graeme Solan, states to the press that he is extremely elated and happy to see people supporting Kali, and seeing significantly well-known investors and shareholders putting money into the company makes him joyful. He also believes that the people involved with the company will take the company forward and support it.

The oversubscription of IPO also indicates that investors are not able to own a significant chunk of the share, some high-valued investors could only gain a 10% stake in the company. Some of the major buyers of Kali’s shares include:

Primarily Kalamazoo Resources at 22.1% and Karora Resources at 20.2% are the largest investors to Kali Metals. Kali Metals is a spin-out of both companies.

Wabelo owns 4.85% of the company. Wabelo is Minres’s MD Chris Ellison’s company.

Warburton owns 2.77% of the company. Warburton’s Director is former Director of MinRes Tim Roberts.

Carjay Investments owns 2.52% of the company. Carjay Investments is Rob Jones’s company who is also the founder and Chairman of Navitas, a global educational and learning services company.

The last traded price of Kali Metals stock closed at up 2.2% amounting to A$0.45 for each share making the company’s market capitalization reach A$34.73 million.

It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 142 mpg. You can tow with this EV – 750kg (Unbraked) and 1000kg (Braked). It also has no V2L or V2G capabilities. The Heat Pump is optional; and

AWD Extended Range – this AWD SUV will have a 79 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 5.3 seconds, 112 mph top speeds and 250 kW (or 335hp). Expect a combined winter range of 225 miles with warmer weather allowing for 305 miles – a 270 mile combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 8 hour and 15 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 185 kW DC maximum allowing 26 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 536L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 138 mpg. You can tow with this EV – 750kg (Unbraked) and 1200kg (Braked). It also has no V2L or V2G capabilities. The Heat Pump is optional.

Later in 2024 expect a smaller battery option (which is cheaper and more affordable) which will perform as follows:

RWD Standard Range – this RWD SUV will have a 52 kWh usable battery which will offer 0 – 62 times of 9.0 seconds, 99 mph top speeds and 125 kW (or 168hp). Expect a combined winter range of 145 miles with warmer weather allowing for 200 miles – a 175 mile combined. On charging, the 11 kW AC max will allow 5 hour and 45 min 0 – 100% charging times with the 115 kW DC maximum allowing 33 minute 10 – 80% times. A cargo volume of 536L is available with this car. It has a vehicle fuel equivalent of 136 mpg. You can tow with this EV – 750kg (Unbraked) and 1000kg (Braked). It also has no V2L or V2G capabilities. The Heat Pump is optional.

One of the Greatest Westerns Ever Made Is Now Streaming After Decades in the Wilderness

After Years of Inaccessibility, Maggie Greenwald's "The Ballad of Little Jo" Is Newly Available on Blu-Ray And Streaming — Here's Why That's a Cause For Celebration.

'The Ballad of Little Jo'Fine Line Features

Throughout most of the 1980s the Western was assumed to be a dead genre, certainly compared to the central role it once played in Hollywood’s construction of a national mythology. While there were occasional outliers like Lawrence Kasdan‘s “Silverado” and Clint Eastwood‘s “Pale Rider,” for the most part the responsibility the genre had to reflect and shape American values was taken up by either science fiction movies like “The Terminator” (which fulfilled the Western’s function as an exploration of the changes wrought on society by evolving technology) or urban cop films like “48HRS.” and Eastwood’s “Dirty Harry” sequels, which transposed the form’s archetypes and moral questions to a contemporary setting. Although the decade closed out with the successful “Young Guns,” that film was an anomaly whose success probably had more to do with its cast of attractive teen idols.

Then something funny happened in the early ’90s: Right as Hollywood seemed to have given up on the Western, it came roaring back with a vengeance and yielded the most varied, complex, and satisfying group of films since the glory days of John Ford and Delmer Daves. The box office and awards success of Kevin Costner’s “Dances With Wolves” in 1990, followed by Clint Eastwood’s triumphant return to the genre in 1992 with “Unforgiven,” suddenly made Westerns commercially viable again, and filmmakers who had been biding their time were able to will their dream projects into production. Lawrence Kasdan returned to the genre for the underrated and ambitious “Wyatt Earp,” Walter Hill made two of his best films with “Geronimo: An American Legend” and “Wild Bill,” and talented directors like Jim Jarmusch (“Dead Man”), Sam Raimi (“The Quick and the Dead”), and Melvin Van Peebles (“Posse”) made Westerns as different from each other — and as equally nourishing — as one might expect.

One of the best of the ’90s Westerns has also been one of the most difficult to see, but a special edition Blu-ray release in December and a streaming premiere this month have rescued it from years of inaccessibility. When writer-director Maggie Greenwald‘s “The Ballad of Little Jo” was released in 1993, its relationship to the other Westerns of the time was a bit of a coincidence — Greenwald had written the script before “Unforgiven” — but there’s no question that her film, like the best 1950s Westerns of Budd Boetticher, Howard Hawks, and Sam Fuller, benefited from the comparisons and contrasts enabled by being part of a recognizable tradition. Like those directors, Greenwald was brilliant at using the language of the Western as a shorthand, expressing her point of view not only by what she depicted and how but by where her treatment of the material paid tribute to the Westerns that had come before and where it deviated.

“The Ballad of Little Jo” is based on the true story of a society woman (played brilliantly by Suzy Amis in a performance that deserves to be spoken of in the same breath with James Stewart’s work in the Anthony Mann Westerns) who, shunned by her family after giving birth out of wedlock, rides West and reinvents herself as a man – Josephine Monaghan becomes “Little Jo” Monaghan, a successful sheep farmer who, like the characters in “Shane,” “Heaven’s Gate,” and dozens (hundreds?) of other earlier Westerns, defends her land against an evil corporation. Along the way, she sidesteps the advances of a young woman who sees her as a potential husband and carries on a romance with a Chinese laborer (the only person who knows her true gender) while becoming friends with a guide and mentor named Badger, played by Bo Hopkins in a role that can’t help but evoke associations with Sam Peckinpah’s “The Wild Bunch.”

The casting of Hopkins gives the viewer a clue to what Greenwald is up to, as she slyly references and honors not only Peckinpah but a whole history of American Westerns at the same time that she finds new directions for the genre. Much as Hopkins retains the strengths of his performances in Westerns like “The Wild Bunch,” “The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing,” and “The Culpepper Cattle Co.” while also revealing new layers of sensitivity, the film as a whole delivers the satisfactions of Westerns — “The Magnificent Seven,” “The Gunfighter,” “Shane” — that explore both the liberation of a life defined by rugged individualism and its limitations, but deepens and expands on the mythology. Part of this is inherent in the premise, and most of it is due to Greenwald’s probing intelligence and unerring visual sense.

Most Westerns are about masculinity and how America defines what it means to “be a man,” and many of the best entries in the genre have been films that delve into the contradictions and complexities of the question. By telling the story of a woman who lives her life as a man in the old West, Greenwald explores traditional ideas of masculinity and femininity through a different lens than just about every other Western ever made, even ostensibly female-driven works like “Bad Girls” and “The Quick and the Dead” which, while both have considerable strengths, don’t really engage with the issue on a deep level. Like most Westerns, “The Ballad of Little Jo” takes place in a world where maleness is glorified as a source of power and progress, a fact that Greenwald sharply interrogates via the unique perspective Little Jo’s character provides. Greenwald asks the viewer to consider and reconsider ideas many Westerns (and American films in general) take for granted by posing two simple questions: What does Little Jo gain by becoming a man, and what does she lose?

Greenwald uses familiar conventions both the traditional way and with a spin that gives them a whole new dimension. One of the hoariest cliches in the Western, for example, is that of the “redemptive woman,” the schoolmarm or minister’s sister who exists in the movie to civilize the hero and help him assimilate into society. In “Little Jo,” the redemptive woman is a man, but by making him Chinese — and therefore “lesser” and isolated in the eyes of the white men in the film — Greenwald plays with ideas of power, gender, race, and economics (Jo’s lover works as her handyman) and explores how they intersect in fluid and fascinating ways. The ways in which the viewer is expected to understand these issues are irrevocably affected by seeing them through the eyes of a woman who is pretending to be a man; long before the end of the movie, the line between “male” virtues and “female” ones — a defining feature of many classical Westerns — has been satisfyingly and provocatively blurred.

The pleasures of the film are not merely or even primarily ideological; part of Greenwald’s greatness is how organically woven into the narrative these ideas are. There’s nothing anachronistic about the film, even though, like all great period movies, it’s an equally valuable reflection of the time in which it takes place, the time of its release, and the time in which you’re watching it. Greenwald has the confidence not to force or overstate her ideas but just sets the drama in motion and lets the audience draw their own conclusions.

She also provides a textured and expressive visual experience for the viewer that makes “The Ballad of Little Jo” one of the most purely gorgeous independent films of its era, and also a Western with a distinct look. Other directors had taken pleasure in the small details and nuances of day-to-day living in the old West — Robert Altman in “McCabe and Mrs. Miller,” Walter Hill in “The Long Riders,” Budd Boetticher in his detailed depictions of what it really meant to be a cowboy tending to a horse — but Greenwald takes it as far as anyone ever did, focusing not only on where Little Jo lives, but how and why, and how the simultaneously beautiful and forbidding landscape informs her choices. The movie is filled with specific pieces of costume and production design that allow the viewer to ponder the frontier existence in all its particulars, not just its sweeping vistas; it’s an intimate approach that perfectly complements Greenwald’s efforts for us to see everything through Jo’s perspective.

At the same time, “The Ballad of Little Jo” has a sweeping, epic quality that belies its limited budget, as well as a giddy embrace of some of the Western’s most basic pleasures. When Little Jo, in a sense, “conquers” her territory and succeeds on both her own terms and society’s, it’s immensely satisfying, and her sense of freedom is intoxicating. Yet just as Gregory Peck in “The Gunfighter” or the guns for hire in “The Magnificent Seven” are trapped in their roles, Jo is trapped by successfully becoming a man — she can’t escape her role any more than Steve McQueen could escape his. Greenwald ends the film with an allusion to another great Western, John Ford’s “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance,” with her own take on the idea that “when the legend becomes fact, print the legend.” Like everything else in the film, Greenwald’s perspective on this topic is complex, ambivalent, and, to a degree, open-ended, inviting the audience to continue the discussion after the film is over.

In a sense, Greenwald is doing what the best Western directors have always done despite the “revisionist” label erroneously attached to the ’90s films in the genre. The best Western directors have always been revisionist — John Ford cleverly subverted the idea of the redemptive woman back in 1939, for example, when he made her a prostitute in the same movie where he made the villain the most extreme representative of capitalist philosophy. Like “Stagecoach” — or “Red River,” or “High Noon,” or “Buck and the Preacher,” or any of the other all-time great Westerns — “The Ballad of Little Jo” looks both back and forward.

Also like those films, it’s a singular personal statement. Given that Greenwald was the first woman to write and direct a wide-release American Western in the sound era, it’s hard not to draw parallels between her own journey and Little Jo’s, forging her way forward in a male-dominated field and choosing what to retain and what to discard — and like her heroine, showing everyone else how it’s done. One doesn’t need to know anything about Greenwald or the production history of her film or even its context as a ’90s Western to enjoy it, though; it stands on its own as a masterpiece that has always deserved to be better known and more easily accessed. Its renewed availability is a cause for celebration and an opportunity to rediscover an American classic.

Yoga in the Galleries, 6 p.m. — This free yoga class surrounded by works of art in the galleries is led by instructors from Five Points Yoga and open to both beginner and experienced yogis. “Nancy Baker Cahill: Through Lines” — Baker Cahill’s first solo museum show expands upon her background in traditional media and redefines the possibilities of drawing in contemporary art through augmented reality.

“Decade of Tradition: Highlights from the Larry D. and Brenda A. Thompson Collection” — Selections from Larry and Brenda Thompson’s gift of works by African American artists.

“Power and Piety in 17th-Century Spanish Art” — Works by premiere Spanish baroque painters such as Francisco de Zurbarán, Bartolomé Murillo, Pedro Orrente and others, on loan from Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery.

Permanent Collection: A wide range of the museum’s permanent collection is always on view, featuring painting, sculpture, works on paper and decorative arts from the Renaissance to contemporary periods.

“Soft Trap: A New Installation by Katie Ford” — Ford is the first artist to present work as part of a new annual series at the Arts Center using the lobby case as an installation space for a single work of art. Ford is a mixed-media artist and master of fine arts candidate at the University of Georgia. Since 2019 she has co-directed Reciprocal Works, a creative platform facilitating zine exchanges and workshops.

“Memory Worker: Kelly Taylor Mitchell” — Mitchell’s multidisciplinary practice centers oral history and ancestral memory, real and imagined, woven into the fabric of the African Diaspora. Her work is deeply invested in labor-intensive making, slowness and homespun passed-down processes resulting in works of printmaking, papermaking, performance, book arts and textiles.

“Tell Me A Story: Works by Jasmine Best” — Best, a current master of fine arts candidate at UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art, uses her memories and manipulations of them to create dialogues about the Black female identity. She explores the folk story traditions of the Black South through tangible and traditional mediums such as fabric and yarn combined with digital sewing.

The Athenaeum

“Listeners” — An immersive and responsive installation by Brooklyn-based artist Fabienne Lasserre consisting of a series of sculptures made of clear vinyl spray-painted with translucent gradients of color. Here, she explores form, shape and color in order to point to the many ways in which movement and location affect our ways of relating to the world and to one another.

“B Sides” — New paintings by tiny ATH gallery owner Camille Hayes, with a closing February 22, 5 – 8 p.m.

ACE/FRANCISCO Gallery

“Kashi Washi” — Photographs by Jason Thrasher. In November 2023, photographer Jason Thrasher embarked on a journey to Benares, India, to revisit a specific street corner where he had spent two weeks in 1998. Like any community, people had relocated, passed away and aged, but a notable number of shop owners and boatmen were still actively working and living there. The term "”Kashi Washi” refers to the individuals who live and work along the riverbank in this sacred city.

The Ford Explorer has a bold exterior, pleasant interior, and a zippy driving experience delivered by a V6 engine. Great Powertrains

The first three trims of the Explorer come with a 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 300 hp. That’s powerful enough to give you an energetic driving experience. Those of you wanting more power will like the 400-hp 3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine on the King Ranch, Platinum, and ST models. The ST has the most athletic driving experience of the bunch.

Lots of Space

This three-row SUV can seat up to 7, and adults will have no problem sitting in the third row for day-to-day commutes. Some competitors have a third row that’s too cramped for adults to tolerate, so its comfort is a major plus for the Explorer.

There’s also a lot of space in the cabin for cargo when you fold down the second and third rows. You can fit approximately 31 carry-on suitcases back there. The regular cargo area behind the third row holds around four carry-on suitcases.

Highly Pleasant Interior

The Explorer’s interior has some nice features that make spending time in the cabin feel fantastic. A twin-panel moonroof is available for stunning views, lots of natural daylight, and plenty of fresh air. Multi-color ambient lighting allows you to adjust the lighting to suit your mood, and it’s particularly enjoyable to use while driving at night and while listening to music.

A 12-speaker B&O sound system is available, perfect for those of you who love your tunes. You can access plenty of music streaming apps on the vertical 10.1-inch LCD infotainment screen, which has a customizable display.

Bold Exterior Styling

Although the Explorer is a nice family SUV, it has a bold look that’s difficult to ignore. All of the models have a squared appearance that looks bold, and the eye-catching grille with the Ford emblem right in the middle is difficult to miss on the road.

Excellent Towing Capacity

The first two trims of the Explorer can tow up to 5,300 pounds. If you need more strength, then getting one of the last three trims will let you tow up to 5,600 pounds instead. You need the Class IV Trailer Tow Package to achieve the maximum towing capacity. As well as that, a Terrain Management System is standard and has a tow/haul mode for easier towing.
