2020台北車展特報之一生可能只見這一次〈概念車/賽車/特展車篇〉

每回車展除了市售新車外，概念車與賽車也是觀展的亮點之一，而且這很可能是你一輩子唯一見到這些車的機會，所以就讓我們來介紹2020台北車展有何概念車與賽車，以及特別展出的車款。

BMW i Vision Dynamics Concept

於2014年在台發表BMW i3及i8，成為第一個將純電動車引進台灣的豪華汽車品牌；面對全新地電動化、自動化未來，BMW推出本次參加台北車展的純電動概念車i Vision Dynamics，讓眾人可一窺BMW未來發展方向。i Vision Dynamics外型以Gran Coupé的四門跑車風格打造，藉由長軸距、流線的車頂線條以及短前懸創造出結合優雅與運動的獨特風格，特殊窗框造型更是BMW突破過往的全新設計；此外，i Vision Dynamics Concept除具備600公里的最高續航里程外，更擁有0-100km/h加速僅需4秒以及極速超過200km/h的性能實力；而即將推出的BMW i4即是以i Vision Dynamics Concept為原型做打造，預計在2021年會正式亮相！

BMW iFE.20 Formula E

自2014年9月Formula E電動方程式錦標賽開賽以來，BMW即是官方車輛合作夥伴，BMW i不僅提供以i8為首的Safety Car，更挹注大量資源發展ABB FIA Formula E電動方程式錦標賽，自第五賽季起，BMW投入更多資源與技術，並以BMW i Andretti Motorsport車隊直接投入賽事，推出本次參展的iFE.20賽車參賽，採用由BMW Motorsport賽車部門與BMW i品牌合作研發出BMW Racing eDrive02動力系統，在電動馬達、電流轉換器與整個後軸懸吊系統都是最新開發出的成果，iFE.20具備更精準地在性能與效率上提升表現，0-100km/h加速僅需2.8秒。

Ford Explorer Police Interceptor® Utility美式特警車

過去我們常在美國電影或影集中，看見各式Ford車款所打造的警車，在現實生活中，Ford已與執法單位合作超過70年，憑藉豐富經驗打造了本次特別來台參加台北車展的Explorer Police Interceptor® Utility美式特警車，其全車經過強化與配置強壯地防撞桿後，成為全球唯一通過75mph〈120km/h〉車尾撞擊的車款，以利執法者攔截車輛。動力系統有包括：傳統自然進氣、渦輪增壓與油電混合等多種選擇。

Infiniti QX Inspiration

在2019年北美車展首亮相的QX Inspiration，是Infiniti未來邁入電動化休旅車陣線的啟發原點，在北美國際車展出即榮獲「EyesOn Design」設計大獎「最佳概念車」、「最佳內裝設計」、「色彩圖形材料創新運用」等三大獎項，可以預想未來Infiniti QX系列的設計走向。QX Inspiration搭載智慧型全時四輪驅動系統(e-AWD)，透過置於前軸與後軸上的馬達驅動輪軸，讓車身隨時保有穩定的動態表現，此外電池採平整化設計放置於底盤下，更進一步降低車體重心，提升操控性能。

Jaguar I-Type 2 Formula E

在2019年正式引進第一款電動SUV的Jaguar，在本屆車展更展出專為FIA Formula E而生的電動方程式賽車I-Type，早在2016年Jaguar便洞悉未來產業發展趨勢，憑藉品牌高度的研發能力，創建Panasonic Jaguar Racing賽車工程團隊，投入當前最夯的FIA Formula E電動方程式賽事，本次展出的初代I-Type電動方程式賽車擁有高達225kw的性能輸出與225km/h的極速表現，百公里加速也僅需2.9秒即可完成。

Lexus LF-30

本屆車展中在眾多展出的概念車中，Lexus LF-30是最新出爐的一款，甫在2019年東京車展亮相後，便風塵僕僕地來到台灣參展，而且超親民地採開放方式展出；而外型極為前衛的LF-30，是Lexus了展演2030年汽車電動化及自動駕駛時代來臨後的概念車款，LF-30除可實現Level5的自動駕駛，隨時在側的AI系統還可感應車內人聲，乘客的身體狀況以自動調節車室內氣溫、音響系統等，甚至在抵達目的地後提供附近景點的資訊。動力系統搭載共四具電動馬達，可爆發544ps最大馬力，0~100km/h加速僅需3.8秒，極速可達200km/h，最大續航力可達500km/h。

Lexus LF-1 Limitless

相較於LF-30是闡述2030的全電動、全自動車概念，LF-1 Limitless則是以開創全新旗艦SUV概念而來，集強勁性能和豪華配備於一身，外觀設計靈感來自於將金屬溶融之後，鍛打成為日本武士刀的過程，融合銳利的鋒芒、不定型的液態金屬，以及熾熱卻又內斂的武士刀精神。而LF-1 Limitless代表著噴湧不息的澎湃動力和能源多樣性：可以在燃料電池、混合動力、汽油，甚至純電模式下運行，充分展現了Lexus 創新的科技和設計。

Mitsubishi e-Evolution Concept

近年來逐漸將產品發展重心轉向SUV，e-Evolution Concept高性能電動跨界SUV的未來概念車，也是集三菱汽車在SUV以及EV技術領域上的領先以及極具潮流與實用價值的美學設計於一身的重要概念車款。動力系統由一具配置於前軸與兩具配置於後軸之電動馬達所組成，並配有AYC 〈Active Yaw Control〉主動式彎道動態控制，可主動調配後軸左右輪之動力輸出比例，以提供絕佳地操控性。

Nissan IMs concept

IMs concept為Nissan於2019北美車展中首度表的純電概念車，最大的特色是採用所謂全新世代「elevated sports sedan架高運動轎車」設計概念打造，車身線條流暢且兼具運動科技感；玻璃車頂與內部座艙陳設採用日式傳統「麻の葉」圖樣理念，利用深色布料搭配金色線條，營造精緻且優雅的時尚風格。IMs concept搭載NISSAN NISSAN INTELLIGENT MOBILITY智行科技，包含自動駕駛模式及「Invisible-to-Visible」擴增實境駕駛操作介面，能更有效掌握車況，輔助操駕行程，展現Nissan對於未來車輛的設計思考。

Porsche 935

為向70年代晚期的賽道神話935/78 Moby Dick致敬，以911 GT2 RS高性能跑車為基礎，結合935/誇張的車身造型設計與輪廓，限量推出77輛復刻版935，結合了眾多經典賽車元素，車體由CFRP碳纖維複合材料所取代，融入空氣動力學的輪輞邊框便是仿效935/78、後尾翼側板整合LED尾燈擷取自919 Hybrid LMP1賽車、左右兩側後視鏡源自當前的利曼冠軍賽車911 RSR、外露的鈦合金排氣尾管則是參照1968年Porsche 908賽車，至於排檔桿頭採用層壓木紋設計讓人聯想到917、909 Bergspyder和Carrera GT等超跑。動力搭載3.8升六缸雙渦輪增壓引擎、最大馬力達700ps。

Porsche 919 Hybrid

919 Hybrid是Porsche在近期征戰WEC世界耐力錦標賽與利曼大賽所開發的原型賽車，2011年Porsche執行董事會決定藉由Class 1原型車重返WEC和利曼賽道，2014年正式投入，2015年至2017年連續三年獲得空前成功，於WEC與利曼賽場上奪得三連霸，直到2017年賽季結束才決定將參賽重心轉住Formula E。Porsche 919 Hybrid是一部迎向未來科技的移動實驗室，根據WEC的賽事規範，919 Hybrid透過一具緊湊的2.0升V4渦輪增壓汽油引擎（近500 ps/368kW），結合前軸的煞車動能和排氣動能之兩套不同的動能回充系統，可產生約900 ps（662kW）的系統綜效輸出。

Porsche 99X Electric

承接自WEC的輝煌戰績，Porsche自2019年起將賽車重心轉向Formula E，投入2019/2020年度ABB FIA Formula E電動方程式錦標賽，並打造全新賽車99X Electric，依循慣例，賽車的命名方式為三位數字，代表Porsche賽車和雙門跑車。其最高的數字是9，使用兩次目的在於強調對Porsche而言電動方程式賽車的重要性，而X則代表著前瞻科技和原型賽車。99X Electric賽車的動力總成也承襲919 Hybrid的精湛科技，以先進的800伏特技術提供動力，進一步探索電動車技術在賽道上持續精進的可能性。

Škoda Fabia R5

Škoda自1936年的Monte Carlo拉力賽到現行的WRC越野賽事，Škoda一直擁有十分亮眼的成績，其中以現行Fabia為基礎地Fabia R5賽車自2015年起於WRC 2級距中連戰皆捷，連續蟬連五屆冠軍，本次台北車展Škoda特空運一輛Fabia R5賽車來台參展。動力上則配置一具1.6升渦輪增壓四缸汽油引擎，可產生至少284hp最大馬力，並搭配五速序列式手排變速系統。

Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept

Toyota自推出GR Supra後，於全球引發新一波日系跑車熱潮，Toyota更以其打造原廠賽車，投入各級賽事，而本次展出的GR Supra Racing Concept是Toyota賽車品牌「Toyota Gazoo Racing」以賽車競技為目的進行打造的賽車原型車，其車側大大的賽車號「90」，即由第五代Supra代號「A90」而來，代表著傳奇Supra的強勢回歸！而Toyota於2019年紐柏林24小時耐久賽的參賽車款GR Supra GT4正是承襲此設計理念所開發的競技車款。

Toyota FINE-Comfort Ride Concept

FINE-Comfort Ride Concept是一款導入AI自動駕駛技術所開發的氫燃料電池概念車，除具備AI自動駕駛科技，3,450mm超長軸距，車內採特別地2+2+2的超彈性座艙設計，讓其車室空間能有更多的應用想像，在未來，開車上路將不再只是單純的點到點「移動」，而將可以在過程中創造出各種可能性。動力來自設置於四只輪胎內的輪內馬達，搭配燃料電池系統，最大續航力可達1000km。

Toyota RHOMBUS Concept

RHOMBUS Concept是以未來都會用車理念開發的純電概念車，在外觀及車室設計上相當前衛、創新，以「菱形」做為設計核心，極具未來感的菱形外觀塑造出更節能、環保的低風阻表現；獨特的1+2+1 三排特殊中置駕駛座，則創造出適合未來生活需求的科技座艙，是一台可以代表未來移動科技的先驅車款。

Toyota Sienta Welcab Concept

隨著台灣社會逐步邁入高齡化，Toyota本著「MOBILITY FOR ALL」的精神，展出Sienta Welcab Concept。Sienta Welcab Concept有別於現在市面上看到的福祉車款，其相對小巧的車身，讓駕駛可以便利地在市區穿梭，不須再為停車位苦惱；獨特的低地板設計創造出超大車內空間，可以輕鬆容納市面上大多數的輪椅車款；而絕佳的油耗表現，將能大大降低使用成本，是一兼具實用與經濟性的福祉概念車款。

Cops Abandon High-Speed Chase When Their Tesla Battery Runs Down

Don’t feed the sheriff’s horse tonight and Blaze won’t much feel like chasing cattle rustlers tomorrow. Don’t gas up the Ford Interceptor and you not make it much farther than Dunkin in the morning. Now the cops are learning: If you don’t charge your Tesla police car, the next shift won’t mount a very long high-speed pursuit. It happened this month in Fremont, California. The police department’s Tesla ran low on juice and the chase was called off after about eight miles. The Fremont PD said it was for reasons of public safety.

The 2014 Tesla Model S, purchased used, is believed to be the first electric police car placed on patrol duty in the US. It’s part of a pilot program for the city to determine how well EVs can slot into mainstream police work. EVs are already used for peripheral use, such as patrolling metered public parking lots.

Here’s what happened: Sept. 20, the Tesla was on patrol. It began pursuit of what police described as a “felony vehicle” on Interstate 680 South in Fremont. The chased reached peak speeds of 120 mph. Several minutes into the chase, officer Jess Hartman noticed the Tesla was low on power. He radioed the dispatcher and said, “I am down to six miles of battery on the Tesla so I may lose it here in a sec.” Moments later, he added, “If someone else is able, can they maneuver into the number one spot?”

Shortly after Hartman reported his low-battery condition, traffic began to clog up and the driver of the pursued vehicle took to the breakdown lane. That led the Tesla to break off the chase and exit the highway in San Jose. Hartman radioed, “I’ve got to try to find a charging station for the Tesla so I can make it back to the city.” That he did, took on some more juice, and drove back to headquarters.

The pursued car was later found crashed in bushes and abandoned. The driver apparently fled on foot. He was wanted on a felony warrant from Santa Clara, police said.

As to what went wrong, a police spokesperson said that “[officer] Hartman was monitoring the charge and responsibly notifying everyone of its status.” (The cops don’t like to say somebody messed up.) While the car is being driven, the officers inside are responsible for checking the fuel or battery level, although it’s seldom an issue in urban/suburban patrols. Larger police departments typically have maintenance workers responsible for refueling. In smaller departments, it may be an end-of-shift task. The Fremont PD did note the car somehow hadn’t been plugged in to charge at the end of its previous shift.

The Fremont Tesla is part of a pilot program to determine the suitability of EVs for patrol duty. This one was bought in 2018 for $61,000 directly from Tesla — which has its main factory in Fremont — and a year and $20,000 was spent getting it ready for first police use in March 2018. The 2014 Model S 85 is rating as having a range of 265 miles on a full battery. Urban police work is ideal for an EV because of the frequent starts and stops that regenerate power. Fremont police say a typical shift involves 70-100 miles of driving. Fremont Police Captain Sean Washington told the East Bay Times in July:

Things were going well with the Tesla pilot program, which had already been involved in at least one other pursuit at that time. “So far so good,” Washington said, noting there is usually about 40 to 50 percent battery life left after a normal shift. “We are easily able to make it through an 11-hour shift with battery power to spare.”

No matter what an EV’s stated range is, running at high speed causes a huge hit on the battery.

Carbon Monoxide Complaints in Ford Explorers Lead to Repair Offer, But No Recall

Amid continuing complaints about carbon monoxide fumes entering the passenger compartments in Ford Explorer vehicles, the manufacturer is offering a “limited-time” repair for 1.4 million SUVs, but is refusing to issue a full recall due to the complaints.

On October 13, Ford issued a press release announcing that it was offering a “complimentary service” to repair Ford Explorers and reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. However, the company maintains that its own investigation indicates that there were no risks of carbon monoxide poisoning, and the company has not offered to issue a Ford Explorer recall.

The repair service covers 1.3 million Ford Explorers from 2011 to 2017 sold in the U.S., as well as 84,000 sold in Canada and 24,000 sold in Mexico. It will involve dealers reprogramming the air conditioner, replacing the liftgate drain valves, and inspecting the sealing of the rear of the vehicle.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) first began investigating carbon monoxide complaints in Ford Explorer SUVs in July 2016, after receiving 154 reports of exhaust odors permeating the vehicles. The investigation was later expanded by the Office of Defect Investigations (ODI), indicating that a total of 791 such reports had been received, including 11 reports involving Ford Explorer Police Interceptor vehicles.

Once the NHTSA looked at all of Ford’s records, it determined that there have been at least 2,400 owner complaints, warranty claims, dealer field reports and legal claims involving 2,051 vehicles.

According to the NHTSA, there have been at least three auto accidents and 41 injuries linked to the carbon monoxide problem, with those injuries including loss of consciousness, nausea, headaches and light-headedness. However, Ford disputes claims that the vehicles have a manufacturing defect that puts passengers at risk.

“These vehicles are safe,” the Ford press release states. “Our investigation has not found carbon monoxide levels that exceed what people are exposed to every day.”

Ford faces at least two lawsuits over the issue, including at least one class action lawsuit over Ford Explorer carbon monoxide leaks, and an individual lawsuit filed by Sergeant Zachary LaHood, of the Austin Police Department.

Ford appears to have been aware of the problem for some time. The NHTSA and the class action lawsuit note that in December 2012 and July 2014, the company issued two “technical service bulletins” instructing dealers on ways to address the problem. However, some owners reported that the repairs did not alleviate the issue.

Carbon monoxide is one of the leading causes of poisoning deaths in the U.S., since the toxic gas has no color, odor or taste, lacking irritating factors that typically allow someone to detect it’s presence. While the vehicle fumes containing carbon monoxide should be more apparent, if individuals fail to leave the vehicle or promptly recognize symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, they may suffer severe injury.

Prolonged exposure to the gas could potentially lead to loss of consciousness, death or permanent brain damage from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police pull Fords from service over carbon monoxide fears

Some police say their Ford Motor SUV police cars are leaking exhaust fumes into their vehicles, causing officers to suffer from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Federal safety officials are looking into the allegations surrounding the Ford Police Interceptor, a version of the Ford Explorer modified for police use. They have yet to open a formal investigation.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has already investigated more than 150 complaints from Ford Explorer owners about the smell of exhaust fumes in their SUVs. Ford has settled a class action lawsuit related to those complaints.

One officer in Newport Beach, California, passed out while driving his Interceptor in September 2015, according to police accident report. Brian McDowell’s Interceptor swerved across two lanes of oncoming traffic, nearly hitting another car head on, and crashed into a tree at 55 mph. McDowell has yet to return to work and he is suing the automaker.

The Austin, Texas, police department has already pulled 37 Interceptors from service. It has even hardwired carbon monoxide detectors into the Interceptors that are still on the road. The detectors have signaled high levels of carbon monoxide, an odorless gas, in at least six cases. The city is considering whether to replace its 400 or so Interceptors, although that would be difficult since they make up about 60% of its fleet.

“The safety of our officers and employees is our number one priority,” said city spokesman Bryce Bencivengo.

One Austin officer, Zachary LaHood, said he narrowly avoided crashing into another vehicle in March when he was overcome with fumes. He was able to stop the car in a parking lot without an accident. He has sued the automaker, and at least three other officers from other states are talking to his attorney about bringing their own cases. The potential plaintiffs include a 30-year old officer from Northern California who suffered a stroke, which can be the result of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Ford (F) says it is investigating the complaints, but so far has found no evidence of a problem.

“We have investigated and not found any carbon monoxide issue resulting from the design of our Police Interceptor Utility Vehicles,” Ford said in a statement. “We know police modify these vehicles, which can contribute to exhaust-related issues. We have provided instructions to help seal these modifications and are ready to inspect any vehicles with this concern. Also, we will cooperate with NHTSA on this investigation, as we always do.”

The attorney for McDowell and LaHood said this is a serious problem, for both police and the general public who drive the Explorer.

“It’s only a matter of time before an officer or member of the public gets killed,” said Brian Chase. Ford said the Interceptor and Explorer are different vehicles that have different engines, among other things, which means that a problem in one wouldn’t necessarily be found in the other.

Officials at NHTSA confirm that the agency is investigating both the police cars and the Ford Explorers.

The attorney who sued Ford over the Explorer exhaust complaints said his testing showed unsafe levels of carbon monoxide in the Explorer. But even he said they did not rise to levels that could cause people to pass out while driving.

“If [police] are getting enough carbon monoxide to pass out, there’s something very different with those vehicles,” said John Uustal, who brought a federal class action suit in 2014.

But Uustal said the level of exhaust getting into the Explorer still poses a health hazard, and can cause illness from prolonged exposure.

“Ford has never considered this a safety issue, but I believe it is,” said Uustal, who recently reached a settlement with Ford on the case. He said his initial client, a fire fighter from Fort Lauderdale, had used a carbon monoxide detector from his department in his car and found 120 parts per million of the gas. He said other tests he conducted as part of the suit regularly found 30 and 35 ppm. That is above what’s considered a safe level for prolonged exposure, said Uustal.
