Today I explored some of the most famous sights in Nikko. For those looking to travel Japan, take a few days out and see some of the most breathtaking sights in Nikko. It's worth it and then some.
This post is also going to be a huge photo dump as there was so much to photograph :D
The first stop on my little exploration tour was Shinkyo Bridge. You had to pay to get on it, but I managed to get some good photos without buying a ticket :)
Afterwards I walked up to Rinnoji Temple and explored the Shōyō-en Gardens
Then it was the main event, one of the most gorgeous places in Japan, the Toshogu Shrine complex
The place was very busy, and for good reason :D
After exploring the complex for a while, I can't remember if I took a cab all the way back into town, or just to Shinkyo Bridge, as I remember walking back down this populated street, and it wasn't too far to get from the bridge back to where I was staying. Maybe I walked all the way back, if I perhaps didn't have enough cash on me at the time. My memory is hazy 😅
When I got back into town, I was tempted to rent a bike, explore the local area that way, but unfortunately I couldn't find the bike rental shop :( It was getting late anyhow, so I had dinner at Enya again, and then retired to the AirBnB.
