Actress and Singer Zhang Yingyue makes a rare appliance on TV to discuss the passing of BUCK-TICK's vocalist Sakurai Atsushi and his life as a musician in celebration of what would've been his 58th birthday.

For this episode, Yamashita Kenjiro interviews Zhang in ZIP's studio, alongside them visiting Hua Entertainment's newest office in Tokyo to go through the archives and share behind the scenes work with Sakurai.

During the interview, Zhang wore an all black velvet dress, with the same MIKIMOTO pearl necklace Sakurai wore in his photoshoot for GQ Japan, where she helped styled him. At the time of this photoshoot, Zhang was already appointed as creative director and asked by BUCK-TICK's team to style Sakurai.

"That was the one of the last few time we worked together," Zhang states when asked about the necklace, "The final time we worked was when he asked me to design their last album's cover."

Zhang reflects back at the time she and Sakurai first met in 2011, when her film Buddha Mountain was chosen to screen at Tokyo Film Festival, where she won the best actress award.

"We met through mutual friends and we kept contact until I returned to music in 2018."

At the time, Zhang was beginning her career as an international actress rather than a domestic performer in China. Her friend who's a musician happened to be friends with a few Japanese artists and through a visit at venue where BUCK-TICK performed, is where Zhang and Sakura had their encounter.

Although worlds apart, the two continued to talk and Sakurai offered support when Zhang chose to return to making music.

In 2020, Zhang and Sakurai released two singles together, titled Eve/Spring. The EP charted on Billboard Japan's Top 3 stops for March and was featured in Zhang's concerts. The two would interact again by Zhang appearing on Sakurai's radio show in October to discuss music, a month after she announced the birth of her twins.

"Going on his radio show was the best thing to do at the time," Zhang recalls, "I wanted to ease my way back to the public, but with someone I trusted."

Zhang also shared with Yamashita that Sakurai visited her home a few days after the radio show to meet the newest additions to her family. He has also been present at special events like her and her children's birthdays.

In 2023, Zhang collaborated with BUCK-TICK to design their album cover for IZORA. it would be the last time Zhang and Sakurai would collaborate together.

"It still feels surreal," she says, while looking somber staring at the album cover, "There was an idea B-T wanted me to convey and I helped in that aspect. There's now a whole new meaning to it."

The album cover features doves flying in an infinite, and a spiraling staircase with a watery reflection of the moon at the end. Many fans now interpret the cover as Sakurai's presence forever on this earth, even after death.

Zhang returned to collaborate on BUCK-TICK's Live DVD cover, which matches with IZORA's cover. This cover features the moon phase which Sakurai has passed on.

"I look back at the time I had with him as a friend with a lot of fondness, "Zhang says, "There's not a lot of people in the industry I respect, and he was one of the few I saw as a friend and someone to rely on. I have nothing but good memories of him."

When asked about dating rumors or spectulation of Sakurai's daughter signing under Zhang's Entertainment company by other guests on ZIP, she dismissed them and she would rather focus on what's important than the gossip.

Although Sakurai is no longer with us, Zhang hopes to continue working with BUCK-TICK when the opportunity comes.

"There was a lot I learned from Sakurai-san," Zhang says, "I learned to love better, to live my life in my own terms, to express myself and continue making art to heal myself and everyone around. My hope is that we all can learn from how he lived his life despite the odds being against him. I want nothing but his memory to continue on."

Jason Crabb is set to join voices with Jay DeMarcus and Jason Scheff to sing the National Anthem for “The Big Machine Music City Grand Prix NTT INDYCAR Series” race on Sunday, August 6th with a start time of 11:30am CST.  

Jason, Jay and Jason will perform the National Anthem LIVE at 11:11am CST prior to the race. The National Anthem and race will be broadcast on NBC.

Giugno 2024 è decisamente intenso dal punto di vista degli impegni musicali per il dj romagnolo Mitch B. 

Partiamo con una nuova produzione, che esce questa volta su Black Lizard. E'  Mitch B., MaTo Locos, Antho Decks - "Olè" ed è un brano davvero strapieno di energia. Una tromba carica di ritmo chi ascolta, regalandogli una voglia di ballare irresistibile. "E' un disco latin tech, una collaborazione Italia - Francia", racconta Mitch B. "C'è tromba che rimane in testa, dall'inizio alla fine. E come se non bastasse, ci sono anche le percussioni del francese Antho Decks. La collaborazione è nata all'Amsterdam Dance Event 2023, in una serata dove io e Antho abbiamo suonato assieme. Abbiamo notato che c'era forte sinergia nelle nostre sonorità. Assieme ai MaTo Locos, abbiamo realizzato la traccia che è pronta per l'estate.... Riassumendo, vai di fiati!".

Nel giro di un anno si è presentata sul grande schermo in tre ruoli completamente diversi in Sissi & I, Anatomia di una caduta e La zona d’interesse. Nel primo film, interpreta la contessa Irma a Corfù, che affianca l’imperatrice Sissi e se ne innamora. In Anatomia di una caduta di Justine Triet, vivisezione di un matrimonio in crisi, è una scrittrice di successo in posizione sovrastante rispetto al marito, coinvolta nella sua morte. Ne La zona d’interesse, di Jonathan Glazer, è Hedwig Hensel, l’algida moglie del comandante di Auschwitz Rudolf Höss, che vive con la famiglia accanto al lager, di cui si ha percezione mentre lei cura le piante del proprio giardino, restando ossessivamente concentrata su di sé, sulla propria vita, su un idillio borghese e le relative aspettative, incurante di tutto ciò che le accade attorno.

Sandra Hüller è un’attrice magistrale, con la grande capacità di raccontare tutte le sfumature dei personaggi che affronta e recitare oltre che in tedesco, anche in inglese e francese.

Nonostante i successi internazionali, conduce una vita normale nel suo paese d’origine, esibendosi a teatro e provando a vivere lontano dai riflettori.

The 2020 Grammy Awards were a somewhat somber occasion this year, taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles just hours after L.A. Lakers legend Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash.

Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, were among the nine victims who died in a crash that took place in Calabasas, Calif. on Sunday morning.

While many musicians remarked on the red carpet that the tragedy made "music's biggest night" bittersweet, the show did have moments of levity.

In the end, the night belonged to Billie Eilish, who spent about as much time on stage as host Alicia Keys.

Here's a recap of the ceremony's most talked-about moments.

1. Kobe Bryant is honored at the top of the show: After many stars memorialized to Bryant on the red carpet, Lizzo kicked off the 2020 Grammys by announcing, "Tonight is for Kobe," and host Alicia Keys paid tribute to the NBA star in her monologue.

"We're literally standing here, heartbroken, in the house that Kobe Bryant built," Keys said. "Right now, Kobe and his daughter Gianna and all of those that have been tragically lost today are in our spirit, and our hearts and our prayers."

Keys asked the crowd to take a moment to remember Bryant, and was joined on stage by Boyz II Men to sing their hit, "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday."

"We wanted to do something that could describe, a tiny bit, how we all feel right now," she explained. "We never imagined in a million years we'd have to start the show like this."

2. Stars remember Prince and Nipsey Hussle:It's been almost four years since Prince died, and to honor the late singer, Usher, FKA Twigs and Prince's longtime collaborator Sheila E. took the stage for a performance of the late singer's hits "Little Red Corvette," "When Doves Cry" and "Kiss."

Later in the show, Nipsey Hussle, who was fatally shot in Los Angeles last March, was remembered in a tribute by Meek Mill, Roddy Rich, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Kirk Franklin and YG. At the end of DJ Khaled's song, "Higher," on which Hussle was featured, the late rapper's photo, along with Bryant's, was shown. "Higher" later won the award for best rap song, and Khaled dedicated the honor to Hussle.

"We all love him, we all miss him," Legend added.

3. Performances from every genre rock the Staples Center: For many, the biggest reason to tune in to the Grammys is to watch the performances, and this year, they didn't disappoint.

Lizzo started the show by belting out "Cuz I Love You" and "Truth Hurts," followed by real-life couple Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani singing "Nobody But You."

The Jonas Brothers serenaded the crowd with "Five More Minutes" and "What's a Man Gotta Do," and then Tyler, the Creator performed "Earfquake" and "New Magic Wand" with Boyz II Men and Charlie Wilson.

Later, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus brought down the house with their hit "Old Town Road," along with BTS, Mason Ramsey, Diplo, Young Thug and Nas. Ariana Grande sang "Imagine," "7 Rings" and "Thank U, Next," and Demi Lovato moved viewers with her emotional new song, "Anyone."

Other performers included Camila Cabello, Tanya Tucker, Rosalia, H.E.R., and Gary Clark Jr., among others.

4. Demi Lovato returns to the stage: Just before her overdose in the summer of 2018, Demi Lovato wrote a song called "Anyone," which she recently described as a "cry for help." The 27-year-old singer took the stage at the Grammysfor her first performance since her hospitalization, delivering an emotional performance that brought her to tears.

"Anyone, please send me anyone. Lord, is there anyone? I need someone," she sang.

The crowd gave her a standing ovation.

5. Billie Eilish wins big: At just 18, Billie Eilish has accomplished things most musicians can only dream of. The singer picked up five of the six Grammys for which she was nominated on Sunday, including best new artist, album of the year for "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" and song of the year and record of the year for "Bad Guy."

In her acceptance speech for record of the year, Eilish said she thought Ariana Grande deserved the honor, and she laughed when she picked up album of the year.

"Thank you," she said, simply.

15o BUDAPEST CIRCUS FESTIVAL Lyrical Circus Late Night show A conclusione del ciclo di articoli dedicati agli spettacoli di selezione del Festival di Budapest, eccovi la recensione e le fotografie dell'ultimo show in cartellone realizzato, come i precedenti, da Massimo Malagoli.

LO SHOW Insieme con gli spettacoli di selezione denominati Red e Green e ad uno totalmente dedicato agli artisti ungheresi (denominato Red-White-Green Show dai colori della bandiera nazionale magiara), dal 2018 Peter Fekete ha voluto introdurre un ulteriore tipo di spettacolo, definito White, chiamato Lyrical Circus Late Night Show. Il programma del Lyrical Circus è basato su artisti in gran parte selezionati dal Direttore stesso in altri Festival dove, rimasto colpito dalle loro performance, ha consegnato un premio speciale con un invito a partecipare proprio a questo show. È uno spettacolo che si potrebbe definire di circo contemporaneo, con temi spesso forti ed una atmosfera particolare: un po' “circo-teatro”. Quest’anno il tema principale, che viene sottolineato e proposto sia nel quadro finale di ogni spettacolo di selezione sia nel Lyrical Circus, è la pace rappresentata graficamente anche nel manifesto ufficiale del Festival.  Unico neo, almeno per noi appassionati spettatori stranieri è rappresentato dal fatto che le varie performance circensi sono intervallate da dialoghi di difficile comprensione in quanto tutti declinati in ungherese. 

GLI ARTISTI Quest’anno, i numeri invitati a partecipare sono di un buon livello e certamente originali. Nel programma, la stessa specialità è a volte rappresentata da diversi numeri ma con atmosfere e coreografie completamente diverse. Per intenderci, nel programma sono presentati diversi numeri di cinghie e di ruota Cyr ma, appunto presentati, in versioni diverse. Ad esempio, l’israeliana Yahav Adar presenta una performance elegante e classica mentre il vietnamita Bui Quoc Huy presenta a sua volta una rivisitazione del numero con un attrezzo che sembra la struttura di un cappello e che consente figure originali. Performance che si è avuto modo di apprezzare anche in Italia al Salieri Circus Award. Gli statunitensi Duo Pile ou Face, presentano una ruota Cyr con una bella coreografia e una buona tecnica, lavorando insieme sulla stessa ruota. Alle cinghie aeree Marceau Bidal, diplomato alla Scuola Nazionale del circo di Montreal, presenta figure utilizzando corde asimmetriche. Anche Antony Cesar ha studiato alla Scuola di Circo di Montreal ma proviene da una storica famiglia di circo. La sua performance è molto intensa dal punto di vista emotivo e unisce una solida tecnica circense ad atmosfere e musiche più moderne. Antony ha già un ottimo palmares avendo vinto premi importanti sia al Salieri Circus Award (2021) che all'ultimo International Circus Festival of Italy città di Latina (2023).

Di ottimo livello anche le strappate del russo Anton Mikheev che ha appreso quest’arte al Circus Nikulin e già nel 2014 aveva vinto la medaglia d’oro al Wiesbaden Youth Circus e nel 2015 l’argento al Festival du Cirque New Generation di Monte-Carlo. La sua caratteristica distintiva è quella di eseguire tutto il numero mantenendo in equilibrio una palla ed è davvero bravo. L’ucraino Grygorii Lovygin mostra molta energia gionglando le palline mentre è delicata la performance alle verticali di Ruslan Kalachevskyi (ucraino) che si fa apprezzare non solo per le varie figure in equilibrio su un solo braccio ma anche per alcune spaccate ad effetto. I quattro israeliani di Los Group presentano un buon adagio acrobatico. Una versione simile, sempre proveniente dallo stesso nazione, era presente al Festival di Girona del 2023 ma, in questo caso, i componenti del gruppo sono nuovi. A una decina di ragazzi della Old Circus School Ukraine è affidato il compito della chiusura di questo show. Questi ragazzi, insieme a molti altri, sono ospitati dall’inizio della guerra presso il Capital Circus di Budapest.

IL MESSAGGIO DI PACE Insomma, uno spettacolo che è riuscito a mettere insieme artisti provenienti purtroppo da diversi paesi in guerra e già questo è un primo germe dell'auspicata pace. Deserto particular

Una nuova CLIP del film “Deserto particular” di Aly Muritiba, nelle sale italiane dall’11 gennaio grazie soprattutto a Cineclub Internazionale. Storia di un amore, tra il virtuale e il reale, che si dipana attraverso un intenso road movie dal sud al nord del Brasile, il film è stato presentato alla 78. Mostra del Cinema di Venezia all’interno delle Giornate degli Autori, dove ha vinto il Premio del Pubblico BNL Gruppo BNP Paribas. Deserto particular, la trama Al centro della vicenda Daniel, un poliziotto sospeso dal servizio per un'aggressione  violenta, e il suo amore per Sara, una giovane donna di Bahia conosciuta in chat che non ha mai incontrato. Dopo un lungo silenzio da parte di lei, Daniel decide di partire verso nord per poterla finalmente conoscere. Durante questo viaggio dall'altra parte del Paese, l'uomo rimetterà in discussione tutte le sue certezze, fino a riconciliarsi con se stesso e con i propri sentimenti.   Le parole della regista «Deserto Particular è un film di incontri - ha dichiarato il regista Aly Muritiba - Dal 2016, con il colpo di stato che ha rimosso il presidente democraticamente eletto in Brasile, la mia generazione, che si è formata dopo la dittatura, sta vivendo il momento più drammatico della sua esistenza. All'indomani del colpo di stato, il paese è sprofondato in una spirale di odio che è culminata con l'ascesa di un fascista alla presidenza. Con l'elezione di Jair Bolsonaro, tutte le minoranze, le donne, gli indigeni, la comunità LGBTQI+, i neri, sono perseguitate in modo sistematico e il paese è diviso tra il sud conservatore e il nord / nord-est progressista. Molte volte si è giunti sull'orlo dello scontro armato. Proprio quest'odio si è rivelato fondamentale per decidere quale sarebbe stato il mio prossimo film. Ho capito che avrei fatto un film su un incontro. In un'epoca di violenze ho voluto fare un film d'amore». La regista Nato in una piccola città del nord-est del Brasile, Aly Muritiba ha lavorato come agente di polizia penitenziaria mentre finiva gli studi. Da questa esperienza ha tratto spunto per realizzare due cortometraggi e un documentario: “A fábrica” candidato agli Oscar®; “Pátio”, selezionato alla Semaine de la Critique di Cannes, e “A gente”, documentario che ha per protagonista proprio Muritiba e il suo lavoro nel sistema carcerario. Nel 2015 ha presentato “Tarantula” alla Mostra di Venezia nella sezione Orizzonti. Nello stesso anno ha diretto la sua opera prima “Para minha amada morta” (Global Filmmaking Award/Sundance Institute 2013) proiettato, tra gli altri, al Festival di San Sebastian. Nel 2018 è stata la volta di “Ferrugem”, mostrato anche in anteprima al Sundance. Molto intensa anche la carriera televisiva, con serie realizzate per conto di HBO, Globo, Netflix e GloboPlay. Gian Paolo Barbieri - Oltre al Forte di Bard

Presso il Forte di Bard, nel cuore della Valle d’Aosta,  è da non perdere la mostra Gian Paolo Barbieri Oltre, una grande retrospettiva realizzata in collaborazione con la Fondazione Gian Paolo Barbieri di Milano, curata da Emmanuele Randazzo, Giulia Manca e Catia Zucchetti, aperta fino al 3 marzo 2024 nelle sale delle Cantine. Vi sono esposte 112 fotografie, di cui ben 88 inedite che spaziano dagli anni ’60 agli anni 2000, frutto di un’approfondita ricerca condotta all’interno dell’archivio analogico dell’artista, patrimonio storico culturale, custodito dalla Fondazione Gian Paolo Barbieri. Nato in un periodo storico chiave per la moda italiana, Gian Paolo Barbieri è stato uno dei massimi esponenti che ha contribuito alla definizione di prêt-à-porter italiano e di fotografia di moda, ha esplorato i mari del sud, viaggiando tra le Seychelles, il Madagascar e la Polinesia e ha fermato il tempo con un gioco di interpretazioni con i personaggi stessi che osserva, per un viaggio attraverso la vita del fotografo con attenzione ai dettagli, a quell’immaginario più recondito che va oltre l’immagine, oltre la moda, oltre la natura. Gian Paolo Barbieri nacque  nel 1935 in via Mazzini, nel centro di Milano, in una famiglia di grossisti di tessuti e proprio nel grande magazzino del padre  ebbe  le prime competenze necessarie per formarsi come fotografo di moda. Mosse subito i primi passi nell’ambito teatrale come attore e scenografo, prima di trasferirsi a Parigi nel 1960, dove divenne  assistente del celebre fotografo di Harper’s Bazaar, Tom Kublin. Nel 1962 aprì il suo primo studio a Milano, dove cominciò a lavorare nella moda scattando semplici campionari e pubblicando servizi fotografici su Novità, la rivista che in seguito, nel 1965, divenne  Vogue Italia, oltre che su riviste internazionali come Vogue America, Vogue Italia, Vogue Paris, Vanity Fair e GQ. Le campagne commerciali di Barbieri furono fondamentali per la moda dei brand più famosi, Walter Albini, Gianni Versace, Valentino, Giorgio Armani, Gianfranco Ferré, Saint Laurent e Vivienne Westwood. Gli anni Novanta videro Barbieri compiere diversi viaggi alla scoperta della cultura senza limiti, uniti alla curiosità per paesi lontani e gruppi etnici, per la natura e per gli oggetti più disparati secondo le sue ispirazioni. Classificato nel 1968 dalla rivista Stern come uno dei quattordici migliori fotografi di moda al mondo, il grande fotografo ricevette premio ad honorem Lucie Award 2018 per il Miglior Fotografo di Moda Internazionale. Le sue opere sono state esposte presso Palazzo Reale di Milano, MAMM di Mosca, Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art di San Pietroburgo e Shanghai Museum, per menzionarne solo alcuni, oltre a far parte delle collezioni private del Victoria & Albert Museum, della National Portrait Gallery di Londra, del Kunstforum di Vienna, del Musée du Quai Branly di Parigi. Più recentemente il lavoro di Barbieri è stata acquisita da una delle più importanti collezioni di fotografia di moda, la Nicola Erni Collection e da una delle collezioni di arte contemporanea più grandi al mondo, la Pinault Collection. Mitch B.: arriva "Olè”. E tanti dj set tra Papeete Beach, Donna Rosa e Dunes Ibiza

Giugno 2024 è decisamente intenso dal punto di vista degli impegni musicali per il dj romagnolo Mitch B. 

Partiamo con una nuova produzione, che esce questa volta su Black Lizard. E'  Mitch B., MaTo Locos, Antho Decks - "Olè" ed è un brano davvero strapieno di energia. Una tromba carica di ritmo chi ascolta, regalandogli una voglia di ballare irresistibile. "E' un disco latin tech, una collaborazione Italia - Francia", racconta Mitch B. "C'è tromba che rimane in testa, dall'inizio alla fine. E come se non bastasse, ci sono anche le percussioni del francese Antho Decks. La collaborazione è nata all'Amsterdam Dance Event 2023, in una serata dove io e Antho abbiamo suonato assieme. Abbiamo notato che c'era forte sinergia nelle nostre sonorità. Assieme ai MaTo Locos, abbiamo realizzato la traccia che è pronta per l'estate.... Riassumendo, vai di fiati!". 

Ed eccoci adesso alle serate, che sono moltissime. Come sempre Mitch B. è resident al Papeete Beach e non solo. Proprio a giugno 2024 spesso viaggia con il Papeete tour in giro per l'Italia per regalare il suo sound eclettico ai party della celeberrima spiaggia di Milano Marittima. E poi di casa al Donna Rosa a Marina di Ravenna... e pure ad Ibiza, dove si è già esibito più volte durante questa calda (musicalmente!) primavera 2024. Mercoledì 19 giugno è al Dunes, uno degli hot spot dell'isola.

Mitch B., MaTo Locos, Antho Decks - Olè

Chi è Mitch B.?

Dj producer fin dal lontano 1998, Mitch B., originario di Ravenna, da sempre spazia tra sonorità che vanno nudisco alla house in tutte le loro sfaccettature.

Porta da anni il suo sound in alcuni dei più importanti club e locali d'Italia e non solo. Solo per quel che riguarda l'estate 2023 si è esibito nel privé del Pacha, ad Ibiza e pure al Djerba Music Land, prestigioso festival in Tunisia; ha diviso la console con top dj come Gregor Salto e Kryder; ha regalato il suo sound a spazi di riferimento a livello nazionale come Papeete Beach Milano Marittima, Terrazza Aperol Milano, Donna Rosa Marina di Ravenna, BBK Punta Marina…

La sua musica la pubblica su label internazionali come la francese Jango e spesso si esibisce anche all'estero. Dove? ad esempio al Warehouse di Nantes (secondo locale francese nella classifica DJ Mag UK), all'Hollywood Vip Room e allo Zazada di Patong in Thailandia. A Ibiza invece si è esibito, oltre che al Pacha, anche al Pacha Hotel, al Dunes, al Bora Bora, al Destino e al Mechero Camp. A Formentera al Pineta e al Beso Beach, in Olanda durante l'Amsterdam Dance Event. In Svizzera eccolo invece al Vivai di Saint Moritz.

Non è tutto: Mitch B. è spesso dj guest di prestigiosi party legati a marchi d'eccellenza come Ducati, Shiseido, Jean Louis David, L'Oréal e Technogym. Miglior Resident DJ ai Dance Music Awards 2018, si tiene sempre aggiornato. Solo nel 2022, ad esempio, ha frequentato la Pete Tong Dj Academy e la Ibiza Talents Academy.
