It's the 15th of March and everybody's talking about Caesar's death. But have you ever heard of the Hungarian Revolution and the War of Independence?
175 years ago on this day, the Hungarian revolution started in Pest-Buda (nowadays, it's called Budapest), because the Habsburg Empire oppressed the people greatly. At first, everything was awesome, but months later, the emperor attacked the country, and the war started. The Hungarian General (Görgei Artúr) was very clever and they seemed to win, but the Austrians asked for Russian help at the last moment and so they won the war. And after that it was terrible reprisal, followed by decades of repression. This little country keeps pulling the short straw, and I don't think it deserves that. Please show some respect to those brave Hungarian people who died like a marthyr, and thank you for reading my post!
